5 drinks to get to know me
Oh! Thank you lovely @lynne-monstr for the tag, this is so fun!!
Dark Spiced Rum
I’m not good with alcohol that tastes like alcohol, so I spent most of my early drinking years mixing vodka with literally anything that would mask the taste of vodka. And then I discovered dark spiced rum and wow, that revolutionised my drinking! Haha I’m a big fan of a Dark 'N' Stormy cocktail, but honestly I’ll drink dark spiced rum with pretty much any mixer.
Fruit Cider
Pretty much same as above. I became a farmer and very quickly realised that cider was the drink of choice amongst 97% of my farming friends, but I’m just not the biggest fan of straight up flat apple cider. I like it on occasion, but not in the quantity that we were drinking while I did my BTEC or when attending livestock shows… lol But hey. Fruit cider was practically invented for me! Lately I’ve been on a Blood Orange Cider kick. Really cuts through the sweetness of the cider. Om nom nom.
Pimms
This is a situational drink. I absolutely LOVE having people round my house for food and drink, and I’m a whizz at barbecuing, and there’s nothing more fun than taking full advantage of the 4 and a half hot summer days we get in this country, than having all of your nearest and dearest round for a barbecue, and Pimms is the perfect drink for that!
Hot Chocolate
I have NO problem with it being made from powder, I’m not that much of a Swiss hot chocolate snob. However good hot chocolate is made with MILK, not water!! And the milk is heated on the HOB, not in the microwave!! And if you want to throw in some actual chocolate, I won’t say no… guess I am a bit of a Swiss hot chocolate snob haha Marshmallows and whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon? Yes please!
Chai Lattes
I’ve always been sad because I don’t drink coffee and I don’t really want a hot chocolate three times a day, whenever other people are popping to coffee shops, and I resent paying 3 quid for a cup of tea!! And for some reason I always assumed I wouldn’t like chai lattes but then after years and years I thought ‘just order one, if you don’t like it you really haven’t lost very much…’ and I LOVED IT! It’s now my absolute go to coffee shop drink. Yummy yum yum!
Right… @rutherinahobbit? @lingy910y? @hellofavillain? @vintagelacerosette? @deedala? @mishervellous? @mariemarion? Fancy playing? :)

five drinks to get to know me
Thank you to my lovely wife @hippolotamus for the tag 🥰
- sweet tea: while I did not grow up in the South, I grew up south-adjacent and my favorite beverage will forever be very strong, very sweet iced tea. I might go make some now
- coffee: I do have a caffeine addiction, I won't even deny it. I drink it every morning with cream and sugar
- green tea: Something about hot green tea with honey is just magic.
- Republic of tea blackberry sage: it's wonderful. You should try it.
- bloody mary: There had to be at least one boozy beverage on this list. At some point, sweet cocktails started making me sick so bloody marys became my go-to. The spicier, the better!

5 Drinks To Get To Know Me
@first-kanaphan Thanks for tagging me.😚💖
Well first thing it's that I don't drink alcohol, so it's the "normal" drinks that I drink 😁
1. Water : So the first has to be water... simple but complex at the same. Love to be hydrated all day. Its a freaking nightmare that there is people who don't enjoy water! Like wtf? It's Amazing! The good old H2o 💙
2. Mint Tea : some will say the correct is mint infusion, but I like to call it tea! It's like my favorite tea ever! Its good to my digestion problems too, like what an amazing blessing 🥹. There's nothing to compare with the flavor of the fresh mint or the even stronger peppermint! I love it so much, i have 2 or 3 cups a day. ✨ offer me some mint tea and I'm a happy person on sight!
3. Coffee : Black coffee made in a french press is such a beautiful alchemy 🥲 not better coffee than a french press coffee, really.
I just in love when I can have a good brand of coffee with notes of vanilla, toffee and hazelnuts.... Sublime!
No with sugar, but with a little of agave syrup.
4. Vegan milk : For someone with lactose intolerance, you have to learn about vegan milk. There's like the amazing almond milk, great to make milkshakes and ice cream, cashew nut milk is good to cappuccinos, soy milk it's the one I love to drink a pure glass sometimes.
5. Pepsi or Red Bull : so for the sake of it's caffeine it's one or another. I can't have iced coffee, like serious, I throw the fuck up. I think it's my digestion problems,IBS, that don't let me have it, so I go with some iced Pepsi (Yes, Pepsi! I hate Coke, it tastes bad). Or I will have some of the great weird flavor of iced Red Bull.
Honor mention: I love pineapple juice or strawberry orange juice, and fresh Lemonade!!! But it's hard for me to have some fresh fruits to make it. 😁

5 Drinks to Get to Know Me
Cheers, friends! I was tagged by @practicalghost - thanks, Lia!!
Water. I actually fucking love drinking water. Sometimes I struggle to remember to drink enough but not because I don’t like it. Sometimes I throw some lemons or other fruits in there. In the summer I’ll put fresh mint in. But mostly I’m just guzzling plain water.
Seltzer. I know you’re probably like um this bitch is boring this is just water 2.0. And yes, I am boring, thank you. But seltzer is not the same as water. This is aggressive water, and I prefer it unflavored and without any add ins. Vintage is my favorite brand because it has just the right amount of fizz.
Coffee. Black and very lightly sweetened with either sugar or honey. Sometimes I add cocoa powder and make a mocha. I can drink it all day even though I probably should cut back. Dunkin is my preferred chain but if you’re from NJ and you have never been to Rook Roasters you should remedy that. A little pricey but verrrrrry worth it for the flavor. Definitely a treat for coffee lovers.
Wine. Of course not all wines, that would be insane. But I’m for sure a wine drinker. Cab Franc is my favorite red varietal and I think Sav Blanc is my favorite white. I tend to only drink white in the warmer months, unless it’s being paired with a meal. This may be the one thing I am a touch snobby about in life. Not that I don’t like cheap wine (about to pour a glass from a bota box ✌🏻) I just know a lot about it from working in the service industry for a million years and from family camping trips in the Finger Lakes wine region.
Orange juice. But I like it super pulpy. I used to hate pulp as a kid and would make my grandma strain it through a sieve before I would drink it 🤣 but now I like to chew my OJ.
What’s your drink lineup, friends: @something-tofightfor @stealyourblorbos @littlemisspascal @alraedesigns @cannedsoupsucks

5 drinks to get to know me/5 go to drinks
I'll play along 🥂😊 Thank you @papa-voodoo for tagging me!
I don't really drink much anymore, it used to be a part of my job, but I'll aim for an accurate mix.
Templeton Rye Manhattan
Bubbles Ruinart Rose Brut NV/Schramsberg Blanc de Noir or Rose
Whisky + Bourbon: Jameson gold reserve/Jefferson's ocean aged/Hibiki Harmony ▪︎ Burning Chair/Woodland/Michter's/Eagle Rare
Margaritas with fruit & salt (pineapple jalapeno/pomegranate/mango...no more straight tequila, I start & end fights 🙄🤦🏻‍♀️)
Sake haven't kept up in recent years but loved Yuki No Bosha, Dewatsuru, & Born along with just about anything from Niigata.
Other than that...
a LOT of tea both hot and cold, water, and COFFEE. Also slightly/unofficially addicted to Port, fortified, and dessert wines but that's once in a blue moon.

People against piracy fail to realize that no, I can’t just ‘buy it.’ They stopped making DVDs and Blu-Rays. They’re barely offering digital copies for download. I am not spending money I could use for food or bills to pay for a subscription service just so I can always have access to a beloved piece of media. Especially not when the service will remove media on a whim without concern for how the loss of access to that piece will make its artistic conservation nigh impossible.
For example, I recently learned that Disney+ had an original film called Crater. It’s scifi, family friendly, and seems cool - I would love to buy it as a holiday gift for my little brother! But: it’s exclusive to D+ and THEY REMOVED IT LITERALLY MONTHS AFTER ITS RELEASE.
The ONLY way I can directly access this film is through piracy. The ONLY available ‘copies’ of this film are hosted on piracy websites. Disney will NEVER release it in theaters, or as something to buy, and it may NEVER return to the streaming service. It will be LOST because we aren’t allowed to purchase it for personal viewing. If I can’t pay to own it, I won’t pay for the privilege of losing it when corporate decides to put it in a vault.
So yes, I’m going to pirate and support piracy.
Edit: if you are able, use $5 you would otherwise use for a streaming subscription to donate to a GazaFunds campaign.

probably time for this story i guess but when i was a kid there was a summer that my brother was really into making smoothies and milkshakes. part of this was that we didn't have AC and couldn't afford to run fans all day so it was kind of important to get good at making Cool Down Concoctions.
we also had a patch of mint, and he had two impressionable little sisters who had the attitude of "fuck it, might as well."
at one point, for fun, this 16 year old boy with a dream in his eye and scientific fervor in heart just wanted to see how far one could push the idea of "vanilla mint smoothie". how much vanilla extract and how much mint can go into a blender before it truly is inedible.
the answer is 3 cups of vanilla extract, 1/2 cup milk alternative, and about 50 sprigs (not leaves, whole spring) of mint. add ice and the courage of a child. idk, it was summer and we were bored.
the word i would use to describe the feeling of drinking it would maybe be "violent" or perhaps, like. "triangular." my nose felt pristine. inhaling following the first sip was like trying to sculpt a new face. i was ensconced in a mesh of horror. it was something beyond taste. for years after, i assumed those commercials that said "this is how it feels to chew five gum" were referencing the exact experience of this singular viscous smoothie.
what's worse is that we knew our mother would hate that we wasted so much vanilla extract. so we had to make it worth it. we had to actually finish the drink. it wasn't "wasting" it if we actually drank it, right? we huddled around outside in the blistering sun, gagging and passing around a single green potion, shivering with disgust. each sip was transcendent, but in a sort of non-euclidean way. i think this is where i lost my binary gender. it eroded certain parts of me in an acidic gut ecology collapse.
here's the thing about love and trust: the next day my brother made a different shake, and i drank it without complaint. it's been like 15 years. he's now a genuinely skilled cook. sometimes one of the three of us will fuck up in the kitchen or find something horrible or make a terrible smoothie mistake and then we pass it to each other, single potion bottle, and we say try it it's delicious. it always smells disgusting. and then, cerimonious, we drink it together. because that's what family does.
#this is true#writeblr#warm up#relatedly for some reason one of our Favorite Jokes#amongst the Siblings#is like - ''this is so good u will love it''#while we are reacting to something we OBVIOUSLY find viscerally disgusting#like we will be actively retching and be like ''nooooo it's so good''#to the point that i sometimes get nervous if someone outside my family is like oh u should try it its good#(obvi we never force each other to eat anything. we are all just curious birds and#like. we're GONNA try the new thing.)#edit to answer why we had so much vanilla:#my mom is a very good cook and we LOVE to bake. so she just had a lot of staples in the house.#it's one of those things that's like. have u ever continuously thought ''ah i should get butter im probably out''#even tho u are not out of butter. so u end up with like 5 years of butter.#my mom would do that in a costco but like with vanilla extract#to be fair we WERE always using WAY TOO MUCH bc we were kids#so like she was right to stock up#ps. yes we were VERY sick after this lol i just didn't want to include it in the post in case ppl had an ick about that#u can tell it's real bc we knew "oh no we fucked up that's too much vanilla to waste'' but our reaction was to just. keep drinking it#> sibling understanding that vanilla extract isn't free > knowledge mother doesnt mind if we use it for milkshakes#> sibling choice to maybe get in a loophole of ''not wasting it'' if we drink it bc that's the same as using it (not throwing it out)#listen bud i was like 13 and my sister was like 9#when my mom discovered this we. got in. A LOT. of trouble. a lot of it. a LOT of it.#3rd edit bc i guess it isn't clear - i am 1 of my brother's 2 little sisters#i am the middle child#out of all the ways i have had to explain a post before being like ''did u forget a middle child can happen'' is my favorite

tag game! 5 drinks to get to know me
i was tagged by the lovely @legohwas 🫶🏻 this sent me for a loop, i’m so bad at ranking 😂
1. water: honestly, it’s what i drink most. my beloved. although i should drink more lol. bonus points if it’s sparkling water (some of y’all will hate me but i stand my ground)
2. coffee: are we surprised? no. i drink so much coffee during the day, it should be worrying. but at this point i’m convinced half of my bloodstream is coffee, sometimes i don’t even feel the effects. i need it to get through my 8:30am - 7pm classes though
3. beer! my go to drink when i’m out for the night. my favorite is guinnes, ugh love her to death.
4. peach/apricot juice: i used to LIVE on these two as a kid. it’s like the never ending battle of which one’s better in my country (pear juice is also a contestant, but i hate it, so it doesn’t count in my books). i don’t have it as much anymore, but if i’m feeling like juice, you best believe i’m getting one of them (occasionally i’ll get orange juice, i used to have it in england for breakfast and it kinda stuck. peach/apricot juice sucks ass there)
5. diet coke: I MISS HER. when i lived in england i consumed vile amounts of this bc we don’t have it anymore in my home country :((( it’s always been my go to option when eating out. now i stick to regular coca cola or pepsi, but it’s just not the same. i don’t usually drink a lot of carbonated drinks, but if i’m out and i don’t want to get alcoholic drinks she’s my choice (might move back to england just to have diet coke again)
this was fun! i’m not tagging anyone, so if you feel like doing this, please consider this your tag and go ahead!🫶🏻
