in the last few episodes chetney has seemed especially interested in learning how to lengthen a life (wanting to repair the harness, asking jirana how she has lived so long) that it seems like he's started to fully realize he's running out of time. for maybe the first time in hundreds of years, he is happy. he has a purpose, he has friends and family and people he loves and a fight to be a part of. and he finally has all of this at what is most likely the end part of his life. he doesn't want to die, he doesn't want to go when he finally has a life he loves.

I think what is missing with 4-sided Dive that Talks Machina had was a third party to have those character discussions with. It's not the same with a fellow PC. Also someone with interviewing abilities, sometimes I feel like they meander so much.
And I do like to watch them talk, I do watch old episodes of AWNP, fireside chat, etc, but for discussing the game/campaign I think the mechanics of it muddles with the flow.
I personally feel no value is added from the tower of inquiry or the cup questions, though I don't mind the game playing at the end since at this point who had their curiosity satisfied can simply leave, but answering while playing which they tried doing at least once I watched didn't work at all.
Edit: Btw when I say no value is added I mean the format (being in a cup, pulling from the tower) and not the questions themselves.

It really does feel like we got Dorym, (from both Robbie and Liam both saying in their respective 4sided dives) they just haven't had the opportunity to confess/have a meaningful/private conversation yet. They've just been going places. Like they met up with Dorian then went off to Aero, then came back and presented their case to the big war council. They really haven't had a moment of pause. (I know they had like half a night in rextingtrom but then there was immediately inter party conflict)
I would not be surprised if this like five day break, after they get back from the fey realm before the assault is set to kick off, we get a proper confession.

like in a 4sided dive, Sam described Scanlan during the events of C3 as "recently divorced", which means he was married to Pike for almost thirty years, which is a really long time and I wish people didn't brush that off, it's not the end of the world their marriage ended eventually, they were always toying the line between platonic and romantic throughout the first campaign, they picked one side for several decades before deciding on crossing the line again the other way, and still they remain occasional sexual partners like. this is just so in line with the way they've always been and it absolutely doesn't cheapen their marriage nor their deep love for one another.

hi (:
I'm not very involved in fandom and I also dont really watch 4sided dive, so maybe this has been talked through already but-
I noticed how the bells hells dont have any kind of place to call their own. Vox machina had their own keep, and whitestone, and scanlans mansion on the road. The mighty 9 had the xhorhaus and calebs tower, (and the dome/tiny hut).
The hells dont have anything like that do they?? Or if not just their own, do they have a place they could just show up at and stay for a bit?
That feels rather inconvenient, but also like it says something about them/the campaign- about being settled, belonging to somewhere (or to each other?), their financial&political situation, etc .....
I dont really know whether that's a question. Maybe - do you have thoughts on that? Do you know if other people here or in the cast have talked about that?
thanks (:
Hi anon,
Honestly? My thoughts are that the Nein and Vox Machina situations re: permanent, nonmagical housing aren't actually standard and they left them behind so much (well, Greyskull Keep and the Xhorhaus anyway) that I don't blame Matt for not going back to that specific well. It's fairly typical in my personal experience and in other actual plays I've listened to for even a higher level party to not have a specific home base. For what it's worth I assume Bells Hells could show up at Zephrah or Whitestone and at least be taken in given all their service to Accord and to Keyleth particularly. I agree it probably says something about the political situation that rather than service to an existing government, they are serving a vast political alliance who themselves are staying in a war encampment. I don't think it says much about them financially or being settled though - the Mighty Nein rarely if ever had the amount of money Bells Hells has had throughout, and they didn't rely much on the Xhorhaus other than in the arc they spent in Xhorhas. If anything I think it perhaps says more about how globe-trotting this campaign is, and perhaps how much Vox Machina returned to Whitestone.
As for lack of magical accommodations, the really simple and boring answer is no bard (for most of the campaign, anyway) nor wizard. Tiny Hut and Magnificent Mansion (which is the basis of Caleb's tower) are both available only to bards and wizards. Caleb had specific reason to prioritize these (half the party being kidnapped resulting in the death of another party member early on) but Bells Hells couldn't have cast these even if they wanted to. They also don't have anyone who can cast teleportation spells more than once a day; Fearne multiclassed and won't have Transport Via Plants for another level, and I don't think that's the 7th level Imogen took (and we know it's not what Dorian took). So it's harder for them to return to a static home base, and no one can cast the magical home base because of the spellcaster choices (though I will also note they would have only just gotten to the point of having it now - Magnificent Mansion is 7th level which you get at L13.) I'm interested to see what Sam does if he rolls up with another cleric, because technically clerics have Temple of the Gods, which is basically like if Magnificent Mansion were a lock-in. That's also L7, so also wouldn't have come into play until now.
They did, I should note, have the Silver Sun, which they received at roughly the same level as the other parties received Greyskull/The Xhorhaus, and could have served in many ways as both transport and home base had they not decided to crash it into the key. I support this choice, and yes, their base being an airship does say things about the campaign's focus, but they did indeed have it for a time.

Genuinely don't understand why I keep seeing so much posting about the Laudna and Orym situation like it's a WHO IS THE ONE ENTIRELY RESPONSIBLE, PITTING THEM AGAINST EACH OTHER situation. Like, obviously it's more nuanced than that?
It's not that her killing Bor'dor is his fault and something she has no fault in uwu, it's that as her friend he didn't step in when she needed him to do so. Marisha specifically said she was looking to them to step in. That doesn't make them enemies nor does it mean Bor'dor's death his fault, but it does mean he is not the person she can trust to think about her well being first in a situation where her slipping gives a tactical advantage. Liam said as much on 4sided dive, that he was cognizant of what killing Bor'dor meant for her but specifically gave her his approval anyway, and he specifically pointed it out to be like "hey let me make this more tragic for you." She was ultimately not his first priority in that situation, and maybe he regrets how Issylra shook out, maybe he doesn't, but until another situation likes that arises, it's perfectly reasonable for her and for fans not to trust Orym to not enable her destructive impulses. That's not hating on Orym, that's just recognizing that he's not the guy you want next to her when Delilah is pushing her buttons. Which doesn't make him the enemy, just maybe not the best friend she has.
Ashton's turning away in that situation is a little different because it was motivated differently. Still sucky, but Taliesin said he viewed it as an inevitable break and that it was a better moment for it than at some more dangerous time. I don't think Ashton was RIGHT in that instance, but he was still guided by care.
Everyone was deeply traumatized and not fully to blame nor fully innocent! It's all very tragic! That's why it's interesting. Particularly since the nature of the whole situation is such that it is very, very likely to come up again.

honestly, regarding this week's 4sided dive (ignoring the grievances about format and just some comments that make me cringe etc, I still think they just need to do something with more structure and focus and less guests and more often like talks, but i Get It) I'm quite excited. that was the most animated I've ever seen marisha talk about something in regards to romantic relationships in game. as someone who *personally* isn't a beauyasha fan, and one of the major reasons being why is their relationship afterwards just, ain't fun for me to watch, I'm real looking forward to the angst and the hiccups ahead. I think that's a huge part of why I always want a slow-burn on this show caus the fair seas happy couples they give just ain't entertaining for me.
I want the power struggle with these women between themselves and where they harness their power from and fumbling communication or misinterpreting it or obsessing over comments made and I am l👀king forward to the drama ya'll
how you folks feeling? anyone else agree?

This latest 4sided dive... so good. I can see they're truly invested in the subject in hand, discussing the game, going in-depth with character discussions and plans, not diverging from the topic... *chef's kiss*

What if like grog and scanlan showed up now?
Travis was joking about grog being on the moon in a 4sided dive
It won't happen but that would be so funny
