Went on winx club reddit and had my whole world turned upside down
#look I knew 4kidz changed quite a bit#but I didn’t know it was THAT drastic#but it’s my favorite : ( I grew up with it#I love the silly lame cringe jokes and the y2k culture#but apparently I need to go watch the rai English or cinelume or some shit#I remember the girls being quite different after 4kidz stopped dubbing#but I never paid much attention to it#I LOVE the 4kidz bloom voice actor : (#and also icy?? iconic#and baltor#valtor I guess#not sure why they changed his name when his symbol is a v#I do remember thinking about that as a kid and judging 4kidz for it

Kamatari treatment from Rurouni Kenshin dub is a given. She'll be happy to know she's no longer trans tho. They'll just skip over that and the prisoner in Udon tells a secret about...idk she wet the bed until 14?
Some people might know though and we gotta air this in Florida so we gotta fix Urashima. Looks a little too close to suggesting chopping a weiner off. So I guess she just calls him a butthead.
Arm is too graphic, she loses it cause no one wants to edit that for the rest of the arc...we just don't see it.
Oh, also Izo's just a girl now too. Samurai sisters!
Izo also will not die thankfully...he'll get arrested by CP0 and no one will care.

If you're going to censor yourself you should at least commit to the bit and be creative and/or intentionally as cringe as possible with the euphemisms. Either say shit like "I'm going to take you gently but firmly by the shoulders and shuffle you off of this mortal coil" or "I'm gonna cause a family feud over your inheritance" or go full "I'm going to banish you to the Shadow Realm." None of this "unalive" crap, you're unironically using 1984 Newspeak.

noooo they changed the anime subtitles to try to be more trendy and relatable to western culture and just left bits and pieces untranslated and seemingly out of place nooooo
#I watched it a few years ago and read the manga and know some japanese so I know it was changed#Idk if it was crunchyroll or Netflix bc I pirated it but why bother? There was nothing wrong with the old one#Some of it felt super lazy too like they changed what used to be translated sentences to one-word answers#They're slowly 4kidz translating anime. At least they didnt change names. Wait they did. They erased previously translated nicknames.
