Fandom Problem 4234:

I been kicked out of a lot of fandom spaces this year because I dare try to interact with people. I miss the wacky old days of the internet where fandoms were more open to people instead of making us feel lonely and isolated. This fandom I was in was super small so I got excited to see there were still fans and when I tried talking to them they started screaming at me to leave them alone so they made a callout post on me playing the victim claiming I was harassing them they turned everyone against me now I am more lonely and isolated then ever. I wish we had the old wacky days of the internet fandom back.

Cain forces Emily to leave but Debbie offers up a shock proposal to Emily leaving them both stunned. After Sarah’s christening, Emily and Sarah drive away from the village.

All react to Emily and Sarah’s departure while Debbie is unapologetic. The Sugdens search for Sarah find them at the bus station but come up empty. The Dingles celebrate Christmas at Granny Clegg’s.

Belle is missing and the search is on. But Daz is also missing… both are stuck in a shaft that is slowly filling with water! Tom gets Jimmy released from a police cell and what’s worse, realizes his son is a broken man!

Sadie passes Matthew’s test of loyalty (him or the business) suggested by Jimmy. Nicola humiliates Kelly over her gift to Rodney. Jimmy realizes Sadie & Matthew are together but Tom doesn’t believe him (at least to his face). Laurel decides on a New Year’s Eve party!

Miraculous Fandom and Shipping 10/11/2024

This data is accurate as of 9th/10th November 2024 and has been done over two days due to the length of time it takes to create and real life factors. Every relationship tag is assumed to have been applied correctly. As the poll dictated, XY, Fei Wu and Jessica Keynes have been added to the check list. Hopefully the numbers will prove interesting.

Two strange tagging issues have been noticed during this update which are:

There is one Kim/Fei fic which for some reason when you click the specific ship tag it says Master Fu. Clearly some weirdness is going on there and whatever it is is prevented the drop down option appearing.

XY's character tags are a mess. At a guess several variants have appeared over the years which isn't too surprising but they have not been merged together correctly. This has resulted in some versions simply not working even if the ship tag actually exists. At the moment not entirely sure what to do about that one.

In general numbers have gone down in many rarepairs including one deletion dropping a formerly partial ship back to zero. The only ones bucking this trend are the so-called canon ships. Take that as you will.

The key for the first part of the spreadsheet is as follows:

Y (Green) - At least 20 entries

P (Yellow) - Less than 20 entries

N (Red) - Zero entries

The colours are primarily designed for quick glance usage.

The key for the second part of the spreadsheet is as follows:

Green has 0 entries and is checked monthly

Blue has 1-10 entries

Light yellow has 11-14 entries

Saturated yellow has 15-20 entries and is checked monthly

Light grey has 21-50 entries

Medium grey has 51-100 entries

Black has more than 100 entries

Black entries have the data input at the time of the spreadsheet update and are hidden purely so they are checked manually and auto pilot brain does not do it more often than required.

Checking in with the canon alternatives they do seem to have found a small niche with 20 more Shadybug/Claw Noir than four months ago. Otherwise it appears to have stagnated so longer term trends will be interesting to see.

Not sure if they're checking for any responses, but mostly I wanted to agree. I haven't been in many fandoms, but even the main one I'm in now is alot more "cliquey" compared to years ago when RP and ask blogs were still really common. Now, alot of RP is mostly in Discord, and while I agree the messaging is easier/better than on Tumblr, Discord groups feel more closed off and gatekeepy at times. Plus my OTP is a NOTP for alot of people in the fandom, and I'm not interested in the juggernaut ships, so I get left out of alot of fandom events.

Tbh, I know it's not for everyone, but I've done better in a multi-fandom server I joined compared to any of the servers that are specific to the fandom I'm in. The one I joined I only did,cuz the admin is someone I already knew from my main fandom. I knew they were fair and kind, and they had modding experience in other servers, and it's been overall a great experience, until the server unfortunately died a while back, just due to the admin and other mods having irl stuff come up and take up all their time.

The only other server I've had a good time in was one that's specifically for fic writers in the fandom, which has events and showcases fics of people in the server, so it's alot of us pumping each other up and infodumping about our ideas and AUs.

Something I've had to learn to look out for when going into servers is in rules. Channels that state people's triggers and squicks is well-meaning, but unfortunately, in every server I've been in that had that turned into a wankfest sooner or later, usually with 2 or 3 BNFs in the server attacking each other or smaller creators in the server, using things in the trigger and squick list to harass or claim they were being harassed. Similar wankfests happened if the server has a list of topics and/or ships that aren't allowed to be talked about. Even if someone doesn't mention a forbidden topic/ship in the server, if they post stuff about it on Tumblr, Twitter, or ao3, they usually end up getting attacked in the server or just straight-up banned.

The servers I had/have good times had few if any forbidden tropes/topics/ships. If anything, it was only asked they only got mentioned in certain channels. The few times any wank came up, it got shut down within the same day.

Unfortunately, I don't have any advice for navigating fandom on Tumblr (and I avoid fandom spaces on Instagram and Twitter). I tend to just keep to myself on here, only ever talking to 2 or 3 people and not even all that much.

I hope you're okay, #4234. I'm in a small fandom, too, and I know that gossip runs rampant, so people end up hearing about callouts, even if they don't see the actual post. I've never been in that situation, so I don't know if this is good advice or not, but I'd suggest only sticking to talking to a few people for now. There will be some people who will refuse to interact with you, but even if others aren't actively reaching out, there are others who don't believe the callout, whether cuz they know the person posting it isn't credible or they've become skeptical when it comes to callout posts in general. So there will still be people willing to hear you out, if you choose to stay in that fandom and try making friends in it again.

Definitely close your asks (or at least close anon) if you haven't done that already, and depending on the level of harassment you're getting, I'd suggest making your posts nonrebloggable. I'm not sure if you're a creator in the fandom, so I know it can hurt to keep creating and not get any notes, but it's better than people reblogging your art, edits or writing only to add hurtful comments to keep harassing you.

I might not know who you are, but I'm rooting for you and hope you'll find a space in fandom (current one or another fandom if you decide to move on) that welcomes you.

It’s that time of year again! Here is my annual fanfic/fanart roundup. (And here are the 2018,  2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022 versions!)

This year I posted:

4 different stories, with a total of 41,964 words 

8 different pieces of fanart (including one that was actually four separate drawings grouped together)

and 1 - other thing. A graphic, I guess! 😂

1. Until Then (We'll Have to Muddle Through, Somehow)  (Peggy Carter / Steve Rogers) - 24586 words Five times Peggy and Steve carved out small moments of happiness, and one time they didn't have to.
