“You’re crazy!” I’ve been getting this a lot lately. Every time I set foot on the pavement. Every time I increase the speed on the treadmill. Every time I clip into a spin bike. Every time I sit on the rowing machine. Every time I lift a set of weights. // I think seeing a woman workout with a big ole baby 👶🏾 bump in front of her, is still a little shocking to people. Never mind the fact that: - It’s recommended by the American Pregnancy Association - I’m completely healthy - Working out at a fraction of my capacity and previous levels - Have an uncomplicated pregnancy - Not hurting my baby - Have done this before(hello 2016!) // The bump 🤰🏾and I have been fortunate enough to crush our workouts for the past 40 weeks including today💪🏾 (see my stories). Today I’m 40 weeks pregnant + 2 days 🥴 Kaiden wanted to be a Pisces and he’s waiting for his perfect numerology and stars alignment to make his grand entrance to the world. He knows better than me when it’s best for him to come. Just like any other 40 week pregnant woman I’m incredibly uncomfortable with a huge belly and over it. I know he will be worth all this bs, I know he will bring me so much joy and teach me so much. Babies get overstimulated easily but they can't say, "Hey mom, I needa break." So, keep an eye out for signs of over-stimulation. SIGNS OF OVERSTIMULATION FOR A YOUNG BABY Hyper -High-pitched cry -Keeps eyes closed -Looks away -Claws at face -Arches back -Clings to you Your baby will do all of these behaviours for other reasons too. But if you're considering over-stimulation as one cause, you'll be less likely to miss it. Stop and think about the world from your baby's perspective and it will lead to a better understanding of whether she/he is overwhelmed. *PRO TIP: Don't pressure your baby to play, read, sing or dance. An iPad or even eye contact can be overstimulating. Can you tell when your baby is overwhelmed? How does she/he let you know?
