So many upsets in the last 100 meters of the track races. The mixed 4x400 relay (set the tone huh lol), women’s 5k, men’s 1500m (the best omg) and 400m. And even lower on the podium, Rooks’s silver in the steeplechase and Fisher’s bronze in the 10k were both unexpected and came in the last straightaway. Like I get it’s important to have a good kick, but if I remember correctly, esp in the mid and long distances, it’s typical for the leaders to pull away early or widen the gap in the last lap. But race after race, someone pulls ahead from behind right at the very end and just barely ekes out a medal 🤯 If nothing else, I hope this highlights the dramatíques of long distance running. It may look monotonous, but it ain’t boring!
#olympics#running#not me and mom yelling at the screen every damn time lol#i say as a former runner 😭 i miss it every day

At Saxton we have been closely following the Olympics, cheering on our incredible Australian athletes, including the talented Saxton Speakers competing on the world stage. Here are some of the outstanding Aussie Gold Medalists available for booking at Saxton, ready to inspire and engage your audience.
Jessica Fox - Australian canoeist Jess Fox has had a sensational 2024 Paris Olympics campaign, with many hailing her as the GOAT (greatest of all time). Her long-awaited Olympic gold has finally arrived, solidifying her status as an Australian sporting legend. Having already secured three Olympic medals in her career, this first gold came in the Canoe Slalom C-1 event, and she followed it up with another gold in the K-1 Kayaking event just days later. These victories make Fox the most decorated K-1 canoeist in the world.
Ariarne Titmus & coach Dean Boxall - Ariarne Titmus secured her second consecutive Olympic gold medal in the Women's 400m Freestyle and added another gold with her team in the Women's 4x200m Freestyle Relay. She also earned two silver medals: one in the Women's 200m Freestyle, where she was narrowly beaten by teammate Mollie O'Callaghan, and another in the Women's 800m Freestyle, finishing behind Katie Ledecky. Coach Dean Boxall expressed immense pride in Titmus's achievements, continuing his trademark exuberant celebrations.
Mollie O'Callaghan - In her individual Olympic final debut, Mollie O'Callaghan made a splash by clinching gold in the thrilling Women's 200m Freestyle final, edging out teammate Ariarne Titmus. Welcome to S.U.I.T.S: Initiation By Fire
TERRAN 5 - TRACK AND FIELD
"Kobayashi, pass me the ball!" I confidently dribbled a few steps ahead before smoothly passing it to my teammate on the right. During lunch, I decided to join a spontaneous basketball game with some of my classmates.
It has been a few days since that incident, and things seem to have returned to normal. My conversations with my close friends mostly revolve around school life, current events, and the gossip surrounding unusual relationships within our school. I consciously make an effort not to dwell on it.
"Have you heard?" Hina and Saki Mori joined us at the lunch table in the schoolyard. I stopped eating my lunch and looked at each of them.
"What have you heard?" I asked. It is a Monday, January 7th, 2079.
"It's been the trending topic for the past couple of weeks," Hina said. "Are you unaware?"
I glanced at Sho, who shrugged his shoulders.
Hina sighed in disbelief and asked, "Did you all forget about Kumiko's track and field tournament with the other schools, especially our rival school?"
"I'm on the track and field team, Hina,”
I replied. "I already know what's happening."
"Why are you so uninterested?" Hina questioned. Sho almost spat out his food. "Kumiko is the ace of our track and field team. She's going up against your close friend from our rival school."
I simply nodded my head. "The topic doesn't appeal to me." I tapped Sho on the shoulder. "Did you hear that, Sho? The school seems more interested in gossiping about this than your match against one of the best athletes in national male track and field."
Sho laughed. "Right? It feels like a dagger through my heart. The girls' match is more exciting than mine."
"You're not even in the top 5 for your match to be considered a trending topic," Hina exclaimed.
I coughed as I nearly choked on my food.
"Hey!" Sho yelled. "I'm in the top 10, which is still an accomplishment." He felt
proud about it.
Saki changed the subject by saying, "Doesn't this affect you at all?"
Sho chuckled. "You've been friends with Kobayashi for a long time but forgot that he's really close buddies with Asuka and Kumiko since they were young."
I quickly finished eating my food before speaking up again. "Asuka informed me about it when the competition schedule was released." I showed Hina and Saki the schedule she sent me through the LINE chat. "I know Kumiko and Asuka's schedules."
Hina pouted and said, "You're such a killjoy."
I cleared my throat. "Just because I'm not displaying excitement doesn't mean I'm not interested. The tension between them regarding anything related to track and field is obvious. Kumiko hasn't won a single or double match against Asuka since their first year of middle school. They both enjoy this frenemy competition, plus they're ranked 1 and 2 respectively in the youth national tennis league."
"That's not the only tension between them," Hina teased. I looked at her confused.
"Let's go, Saki. These boys are so boring when it comes to school current events," she said as they walked away. Then, I turned to Sho.
"Don't look at me," Sho exclaimed. "I don't know all the details."
Afterward, our team divided into two groups: one went to the tracks for practice while I accompanied the others to the school gym to focus on strengthening our core. As Nanako and I entered the gym, we noticed Kumiko diligently lifting a barbell onto her shoulders with precision and determination, working on her leg strength.
Nanako and I joined Kumiko in her reps. "Did you skip stretching?" Nanako asked.
"I did it alone," Kumiko replied. "I couldn't wait for you guys. I have to get in top shape for the 400m female solo race and 4x400 mixed relay race."
I crossed my arms. "The burning passion to surpass Asuka in both the solo and mixed race is impressive."
"Of course, she's my rival in sports competition," Kumiko declared. "And also in my love life." What she said piqued my interest, but I didn't press further on what she meant.
Nanako changed subject. “Can you believe that the school festival is week after the tournament?” Nanako complained. “And then at the end of next months is finals. Everything is so close together, I don’t know what emotion to use.”
After the track and field practice, I left school with Kumiko as the sun was setting. As we arrived in our neighborhood, the streetlights blinked on and the sun disappeared. We passed by the closed neighborhood cafe and turned right at the crossroad, carrying our sports bags and school bags as we climbed up the hill.
"I'm exhausted," I huffed. "Isn't this supposed to be easy?"
"You're just out of shape," teased Kumiko.
"You guys are relentless," I said.
"We're just speaking the truth," Kumiko continued teasing. We stopped at my house's front gate. "Alright then, I'm home. See you at school tomorrow." She crossed over to her house from across the narrow road.
I entered my house through the front door, which was appropriately dark. Kumiko and I decided to grab a quick dinner near our neighborhood train station instead of having my mother cook or wait for me due to an upcoming track and field competition.
I removed my shoes quietly and walked down the hallway towards the stairs. As I ascended, I heard muffled noises coming from my room when I reached the top of stairs. Not only that, but there was also light peeking out from under my door. With curiosity piqued, I pushed open the door wide open.
To my surprise, Asuka was sitting in middle of room on a kotatsu table while she snacked and watched TV still wearing her sports gear. A cool breeze wafted in through my window.
Sighing, I closed it before walking past her. "Aren't you cold?" I asked.
"Nope! Just waiting for you," Asuka replied without taking her eyes off the show she was watching. "Don't close that door yet; let me finish this episode."
"You were waiting for me?" Leaning against window frame,I questioned her. Asuka's family resides beside us in a unique living arrangement. Among all the houses on our street, mine is the only one with a balcony, and Asuka's house also boasts a balcony on the opposite side of the street. Our balconies are actually so close that either of us can easily climb over and visit without needing permission. Since we were children, Asuka has taken advantage of this proximity by often crossing over without any prior notice. Personally, it doesn't bother me, but I know someone who would be bothered by it - fortunately, he is not present at the moment.
I joined Asuka at the kotatsu table as we watched the last few minutes of a show together. When it ended, she stretched and leaned back while I continued snacking on some treats that I had bought earlier - snacks which she had discovered in my computer drawer. While scrolling through my phone and munching away, silence enveloped us. However, unlike those uncomfortable silences that can fill a room with unease, this silence felt completely natural between us. We have known each other for so long that simply being in each other's presence is enough to fill any voids without any discomfort or awkwardness.
Finally breaking the silence, she spoke up: "Alright, let's go for a run."
"Isn't it late outside?" I asked.
"It's the weekend tomorrow; don't be lazy," she replied confidently. "We have a tournament coming up next week." Asuka slid out from beneath the blanket-covered kotatsu and sat up. It didn't faze me that she was wearing only a strapless sports bra and sports thong as she made her way towards my closet.
"The neighbors might complain again about your attire," I cautioned.
"Let them complain; it doesn't bother me," Asuka answered nonchalantly as she crossed over to grab her favorite sports jacket hanging on my chair. She casually slung the jacket over her shoulder and zipped it halfway. "Meet me at the crossroad," she called out, stepping onto my balcony and climbing over. "Or I'll come back and drag you out." With that warning, Asuka disappeared into her room.
I sat there for a few moments, contemplating, before I gracefully emerged from beneath the warmth of my kotatsu blanket table and stood up. As always, she had taken my beloved sports jacket. Determined to retrieve it, I grabbed my water bottle that was conveniently placed near my sports bag and reached into my bag to fetch the jacket. After swiftly zipping it up, I left my room and descended the stairs. Passing through the hallway, I proceeded to put on my shoes. Carefully opening and closing the door of my house, I briskly jogged down the hill towards the crossroad mentioned by Asuka. There she stood under a streetlight, gracefully stretching while patiently waiting for me. Without hesitation, I joined her in a ten-minute stretching routine.
“I'm surprised you came,” teased Asuka.
"I can't be outpaced by Wind Beauty during the tournament," I replied.
"Did you coin that name for me?" she asked.
"That name has been around forever," I answered while checking the time. "It's 11:00 PM—I'll follow your lead."
She turned around to face the road leading to her neighborhood. Glancing back at me with a grin, Asuka said, "Try to keep up.”
We live on a large hill that offers a panoramic view of the city, and it usually takes about an hour to reach the summit. Not only is this our preferred route for exercising our legs, but it's also our favorite spot due to its breathtaking morning scenery. However, it becomes even more magical at night when we are treated to a captivating cityscape.
I kept up with her until we reached the end of the trail at the top of the hill. As soon as we arrived, we felt the refreshing coolness of spring in the air. It was pleasant, but even better when combined with the city view. She let out a sigh of relief and took a couple seconds to stretch while absorbing the magnificent sights.
"This never gets old," Asuka sighed contentedly. I finished my water bottle and handed it over to her. She emptied it out and threw it back towards me before leaning against the railing and enjoying the view. I observed her closely and she playfully teased, "Doesn't this Wind Beauty leave you speechless?”
"Perhaps," I responded confidently.
Asuka stretched once again as she basked on the view. “I can’t wait for graduation so our chaotic life can wind down.” She suggested. “Want to go to Hokkaido with me again after we graduate? I need a break.”
I confidently answered her. “Sure, why not.”
Asuka giggled and turned towards me, taking small steps closer as she placed her hand on my sweaty chest. Our eyes met as sweat dripped down her face. Drawing nearer, she stood on tiptoes and brought her face close to mine. I could feel her warm breath against my cheeks as she exhaled softly.
Just as Asuka leaned in closer to brush her lips against mine, our moment was unexpectedly interrupted by someone. Startled by this sudden intrusion, she stumbled backwards, but I quickly caught hold of her to prevent her from tumbling down the hillside. I pulled her back into my arms and held her firmly. We glanced over at the figure sitting on the swing nearby and hastily separated from our embrace.
"Master Shiro," Asuka stuttered with embarrassment. "I completely forgot you were here."
He hopped off the swing and joined us near the view. He looked familiar, but I couldn't recall where we had met before. However, he didn't bother asking and changed the topic.
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Issei Kobayashi," Shiro said while looking at me. "Yes, we crossed paths once at the café with your friends. Has Asuka mentioned anything yet?"
"No, she hasn't," I replied.
"Of course she hasn't," Shiro said dismissively.
"I was just about to tell him, Master Shiro," Asuka stuttered.
"No need," he responded while looking at her. "Since I'm already here." Shiro then turned his gaze towards me. "Under my guidance, you'll be training with me to defend yourself against your adversaries. You have no say in this matter; I will be waiting for you at the café that you often visit just once." With that statement, Shiro suddenly vanished into thin air, leaving me and Asuka alone again

Oooh, runners fic? Colour me intrigued 👀
helloooo and thank you for playing! i had to go back through some asks to find out what i was writing about it before. but i think it started with the desire to write an enemies-to-lovers trope, and making isak and even runners on a high school sports team seemed like a good battleground for it. here’s what is in my doc:
it would’ve been cute if they had to race each other, just for the obvious tensions of a race, trash talking each other, stolen glances in the locker room. then kind of settling into a détente after enough meets, when they figure out their strengths (isak does 100m, even does 400m) and stick to their lanes. coach fucks it all up though when he switches them to relay, and they have to learn to work together to pass the baton. it’s a 4x400, and isak struggles with his endurance for that distance, so they fumble with the change over and the pressure on even to make up lost time. but they put in the extra time to practice, and they push each other, yelling down the track, and finally, finally, it clicks. isak slaps the metal baton into even’s hand and their fingers graze and the electricity that courses between them jumpstarts even’s heart, enough of a surge to push him to the next runner with a burst of speed.
everyone watches the finish line, but no one is really paying attention to the two boys, halfway down the track, hearts racing toward each other.
it’s not a beginning or a plot, but i guess...the turning point of a trope? the “to” part. but then i started writing magic eight ball to cover that trope because someone else prompted me for a journalism story. so! i don’t know if i will write the runners as enemies. i do want to stick to them as runners just because it’s a good opportunity to write about bodies and tension mixed in with exercise and competition. but i would have to do a lot more research into how high school sports work, and what it’s like to be an athlete (my years of high school tennis team probably won’t cut it).
then there was also this thread i wrote on twitter, where isak and even are runners and good friends and it turns into something more. it made me think i should try something with childhood-friends-to-lovers, and see what they would be like growing up together, trusting each other, and figuring out that “the one” was there all along. this exact thread wouldn’t be in the fic’s universe, but i like it as a direction that the fic could go in, with isak discovering his sexuality with even.
i’m having some reservations about it just because i’m not used to making a jump from an innocent, child character to one that is sexually explicit. i don’t know how to write that growth without feeling gross about it, without letting someone underage experiment with sex the way a lot of teens do. realistically, kids do it! but can i write about that?
anyway, maybe i’ll just have to think of a different trope to fit them as runners into. maybe they’re just adults, two strangers, and they’re in a running club, and they find excuses to run with each other more often than the club meets, and they sign up for races and they push each other and they deal with injuries and they win and they lose and they wonder if this is a runner’s high or if it’s love.
it could really go anywhere. magic eight ball turned out to be a very different fic from what i originally replied to the prompt with. i don’t have a direction locked into place yet, but...they run.

SIDE EVENT 003.
a reminder on side-events; they are non-mandatory occasional events that your muse can choose to participate in or not.
while missing an event might mean missing out on points, be aware that choosing to take part in it could have positive or negative consequences for your muse. there is also no telling which part of the event will have consequences either since they will be tailored to make it difficult to guess what could impact your muse. while the final consequences are decided at the same time as the event is created, we will only reveal them the sunday after the deadline. so choose wisely: are you willing to make a gamble with your muse?
LGC SPORTS FESTIVAL
It is time! The Idol Star Athletic Championships are upon us yet again! …Which actually doesn't mean all that much if you're a trainee, sidelined to watch and dream of one day being allowed to participate yourself.
But rumour has it that Legacy Entertainment is looking into possibly start debuting their first batch of trainees sometime in 2020 and in preparation for their ISAC experience the company is hosting the LGC Sports Festival. A limited amount of tickets have been on sale since mid-November.
Held in a rented sports facility, the event not only serves as a public viewing site for the actual ISAC transmission but also features a number of booths where trainees and visitors alike can try their hand at some of the known ISAC disciplines under professional supervision. It is worth noting that amongst these activities is also a MCing booth where anyone interested can try their hand at playing commentator for three minutes. The event also serves as a shooting venue for Legacy promotional material.
Participation is mandatory and all working trainees have been kindly requested to take the day off in advance. The doors open on December 15th at 9:00AM and by 9:00PM the building has to be cleared out. The facility cafeteria will be serving food throughout the day, lunch specifically can be ordered between 11:00AM and 2:00PM. A medical team will also be on site in case of injuries or emergencies ( ** if you plan on having your muse get an injury that can affect their schedules either short or long term, please discuss it with the admin team beforehand. minor injuries like scratches or bruises are fine. )
This event serves as a friendly competition. There will be no medals or trophies received. however, the company encourages putting effort as an individual or team player by giving out gift cards of 30 000 won each to various stores and restaurants (cafés, game stores, beauty stores, sports shop, online retail stores, etc.). To acquire these gift cards, trainees would either have to beat the previous high score (but male trainees have to beat the highest male score and vice-versa) during an individual event, or be part of a winning team during a team event. This will not affect anything in game, so be free to have your muse collect cards or exchange them with other muses.
The disciplines offered (excluding the mcing booth) are:
50m hurdles (individual)
400m relay (team)
Archery (individual from 9am to 3pm, team from 3pm to 9pm)
Basketball (team)
Bowling (team)
Esports Pubg mobile (team from 9am to 3pm, individual from 3pm to 9pm)
Korean wrestling (1 vs 1)
Penalty shootout (individual)
Pitching (individual)
Rhythmic gymnastics (individual)
Spacing-out (individual)
Some events allow mixed teams or mixed competitors, such as esports, archery, bowling and spacing-out. any other event will be facing against teams or competitors of the same gender!
As always, your trainees are watched closely and this time not only by other trainees and staff, but also by fans present at the venue. Since interactions with trainees of the opposite gender are allowed, be mindful of how their actions and words could be perceived since this could very well affect their future at the company and their future image with the public. Any indecent or reprehensible behavior could be punished, either by being banned from the venue (or more).
Most importantly, have fun!
REQUIREMENTS
Points for this event can be collected two ways: through the usual option of threads and solos and through participating in the LGC Sports Festival meme that you can found HERE! Please be sure to tag all of your ISAC activities as #lgc:isac2019 and read the meme instructions carefully! You have until January 19 to complete the requirements for this event. You can’t start new threads starting from that date, but can of course continue ongoing ones.
Answering a meme ask with 100+ words is worth +1 skill point in any category of choice. You can get as many points as there are sports ( in this case, 11 total ), but if you receive doubles, you may also answer them as long as you only claim 11 points total.
Writing a solo of at least 300 words detailing an encounter between a fan and your character is worth +3 skill points to allocate as you wish and +3 notoriety.
