a sigh escaped your lips as you read the last message you sent to your boyfriend. you know his schedule is getting hectic every minute because of the upcoming tour. it’s been very busy but you didn’t have a choice but to understand the situation and even though it was clear that he said no surprises, you didn’t listen. minho couldn’t wait to go home and immediately burst out from the door of their practice room at exactly 1 a.m. he was held back by the kids for celebrating the first hour of his birthday. they were so loud that the staff on night duty could hear their voices down the hallway. 

“thank you, thank you,” he laughed as seungmin painted his face with the icing earning a playful glare from his hyung. 

“eager to go home?”  chan asked him. 

“yeah, y/n’s probably asleep right now,” minho said. “thanks for the gifts and the cake guys,” 

“are you sure you won’t come home with us to the dorms?” changbin asked. 

“nah, i need to see y/n,” minho answered with a cheeky smile plastered on his face. he carried a box of cake and a few shopping bags with their gifts in them by which he couldn’t wait to open when he gets home. 

the parking lot was quiet when he arrived. it was hard to take care of the gifts he received with one hand after he got out of his car. he was expecting you’d be asleep by the time he came into your shared apartment for the last 6 years of your relationship.  most of the lights were off and only the lamp on the side table by the door was the only source. 

meanwhile, you heard the door open and immediately grabbed the cake you prepared for his birthday. minho turned the light switch on to place everything on the counter when he heard your voice filled with enthusiasm. 

“happy birthday!!” you said, full of excitement as minho held his chest in surprise. 

“baby,” he called, giggling in between. “i thought i said no surprises?” he added giving you a quick kiss on the lips as his eyes fell down on the cake you were holding and read the message. “happy birthday to the best cat dad ever, aww baby, you didn’t have to,” 

“i should have,” you insisted. “make a wish!” he smiled at you before closing his eyes and god knows what his wish was before blowing the candles. “yay!” 

“alright,” he said taking the cake and placing it along with the gifts before giving you a tight hug. he also noticed how you designed the curtains with balloons saying happy birthday with fairy lights behind them. “it’s so pretty, did you make this?” 

“i did!” you smiled cheekily. 

“thank you, baby,” he responded, kissing your lips. “but i swear, no surprises,”

“you know i can’t. i mean it’s your birthday and i can’t just sleep after midnight,” you said. “you also know that one of my love languages is gift-giving so the cake and the balloons are not the only ones i prepared for you,” 

“babe,” he called. 

“i know, i know. i just can’t hold myself back and ignore this special,” you added, giving him a bouquet with a small box in the middle. “open it,” minho gave you a suspicious (playful) look before taking the small box一opening it. his face suddenly softened as his eyes glimmer in awe. it was a watch, and not just a watch but the explorer 40 from rolex. 

“god y/n, this is so expensive,” he said uttering in shock一looking at you with teary eyes. “thank you so much. i love you,” 

“for my love, of course,” you smiled before pecking his lips. 

“let’s eat the cake tomorrow at my parents’ house yeah?” he said. “i’m also going to show off this watch to the boys later,” 

“sure,” you said. “let me just put these away then we’ll go to bed so you can rest,” you added and took care of everything when minho took his bag and pulled out an envelope, slowly hiding it behind his back. he turned around as he watched you take the box to the fridge along with the cake that the boys gave him. the other gifts were left unattended on the counter but he’ll open them tomorrow morning. 

“y/n,” he called. “i have something for you,” 

“i thought no surprises?” you smirked as he rolled his eyes. 

“for me, not for you,” he said. “anyway, i’m giving you this,” he added handing you the envelope. you were skeptical at first but what could go wrong? you were curious about it anyway, and it was indeed a surprise when you read the paper after taking it out. 

“minho,” you paused. “these are tickets to japan,” 

“yeah,” he said. “i know i have a busy schedule and we were supposed to go to japan last year, on my birthday but we didn’t. i bought the tickets last week so we could go there in christmas, at least a short vacation since you’re taking a study break too, and uhm, i took a week off at work, they’ll understand,” 

tears formed in your eyes as you watched him fidgeting his fingers but later being welcomed by a warm hug, filled with love and excitement. you always wanted to go to japan with him, although you knew that he frequently visited the country due to work, it wouldn’t hurt to come back there with you, especially on a fine holiday. 

“thank you, thank you, thank you!” you said, smooching his face in excitement. “god, i think i’m the one celebrating my birthday! i can’t wait to visit japan with you. i love you so much,” you cried as he hugged you tightly.

It’s been hours. Hours of you and Bucky rolling around in the bedroom sheets, deep into the night.

You couldn’t get enough of each other. Couldn’t get enough of your skin touching, the taste of one another, the breathless words of pleasure as you and he lost count of how many times you reached euphoria together.

Once you were both happy and satisfied with your prolonged adventure of mind-blowing sex, you held each other close under the protective bubble of the sheets.

His body lay tight against yours, facing each other as your foreheads brushed. The palm of his hand cradled your face, his thumb stroking your cheek lovingly. His other trailing delicate fingers up and down your spine. Your skin felt warm and fuzzy as he touched you so gently after his rough and determined behavior previous.

His eyes. You could get lost in them, drown in those perfect blues forever as they gazed into yours. They held nothing but love and affection for you—only you.

Happy disability pride month!! Maire is trying to figure out her capabilities now that she's had the big excision surgery she's needed for a few years.

Her application for disability is still in appeals and she's testing the waters to see if she could manage work or grad school instead, now that her most impactful symptoms have been reduced.

Remember the necromancy au??? This one

I started writing a whole story for it and was going to be three whole books, centered around Tommy and Phil. (I'll add what I have in my drafts in the reblog of this)

First off, some world building: the supernatural like the undead and necromancers as well as creatures like unicorns, fae, some witchcraft and spells, wards etc., but it's all pretty hidden/rare to come across, and a lot of it depends on how much you believe (not that that stops them from existing). The government has a Supernatural Police Force that enforces supernatural law, but also, specifically hunts down necromancers and anything related to the undead. Highly illegal. Anything in that category--necromancers especially--are considered taboo, subversions of nature and incredibly dangerous. Unfortunately, necromancy is an ability you're born with, it doesn't work well to try and force it. Anyway, the world is about 60/40 split for belief, of course with tons of people on an "unsure" scale in between.

Tommy is in denial.

After the death of his mother, he's just gotten settled in a new town and is simply doing his best as an 18 year old all on his own. A lot of people have a hard time believing that his last name is actually "Innit", not to mention he doesn't have a driver's licence or much work history, but Puffy and Niki make sure he gets a good job in their shop. Unfortunately, he unwittingly closes up one night without the wards in place on the shop and some...visitors get in. It's not his fault, Tommy never learned anything about this supernatural crap, but now Puffy is calling "exterminators" and whispers of ghost sightings and necromancers on the run are going around. Blonde haired, blue eyed necromancers, supposedly from Tommy's home town.

Tommy panics, but in self fulfilling prophecy, he only acts more suspicious and finds himself literally running from the SPF, when he meets Philza and realizes that this is the necromancer they're looking for.

Philza wants absolutely nothing to do with this; the last thing he needs is a kid. Things were going well in this town, he doesn't understand what suddenly went wrong! Now he has to leave again, but whatever, that's routine by now. Thankfully, Tommy seems just as eager to stay away from him as Phil is and he escapes successfully.

...until Tommy somehow ends up backed into a corner with him once again, in the new town, and he can't just leave a kid to fend for himself against the SPF, so they make a temporary truce.

From there it's not hard for Phil to figure out that Tommy is a necromancer, he isn't exactly great at hiding it. Those powers are dangerous left unchecked, so Phil can't just not teach him. It's only until he's good enough to go off on his own, Phil promises himself. Even if Tommy is weirdly endearing, despite getting into trouble and bringing home a random stranger who, thank the gods, doesn't seem phased by death magic. Even if he rather painfully reminds Phil of the kid he left behind all those years ago.

Necromancy adventures ensue; found family with an ancient undead warrior, Some Guy, and a couple ghostly other friends. At last, it all comes to a head when their backstories collide, the long-lost father-son realization it's been skirting around for some time is officially revealed and once again, the SPF are hot on their tails and Phil can't let go this time.

But yeah, that never got very far. I still adore it, I just know I'm never gonna finish it. Thank you so much for asking! I love sharing my drafts and abandoned stories. If you want to hear more, I made the Library of Alexandria (Angel's lost/unfinished works) on Ao3 for everything that I couldn't bear to let collect dust in my drafts ☆

Well, I bought ad-free Tumblr.

I did it because I realized what I would prefer, if I could have my way (aside from just no one needing to pay for anything at all ever hahahahaha), then we'd all pay to subscribe to tumblr and it just wouldn't be free. It'd be like $1.99 per month and all of us would pay it and have no ads and be happy and whee.

Now that's not my serious opinion. I know, for one, what happens when you stick things behind a paywall. Tumblr might not be a scientific journal or reputable news source (lol) but a paywall still divides, still excludes, and that's antithetical to the entire experience of the Internet. And then, there would still be all the other social media sites that have ads and don't make you pay out of pocket, which would sail on with everyone who can't afford or doesn't want to afford tumblr.

Everyone paying a nice, neat, cheap monthly fee or discount annual fee and getting along together is what would work best for me, but it's not realistic for everyone. But, since I'm willing to do it, I thought, why haven't I? And I'll tell you why: Because idk about the rest of you, but much of tumblr really doesn't work that well for me. I have issues with posting, especially with paragraph breaks and trying to move bits of text around. I don't like that posts I reblogged in the past are hidden forever behind "Flagged for mature content" warnings and it's like. A picture of a cat. Not to mention broken music links and videos (which I guess aren't tumblr's fault, just makes me sad). I don't like how pictures seem to always end up sized differently and you have to open it just the right way to see it how you want. Not to mention a bunch of features tumblr used to have that I loved have gone away or been massively de-emphasized: support for music players on blogs, for example. (Yes I still have one but it's a pain the neck.) Polls are nice but I miss that. I also miss convenient free themes - they're still there of course! But finding one that has everything I want (no endless scrolling, clear navigation, visible icon and description, music player, etc) is also a pain and I just end up reusing the same old one I've been using since I joined and recoloring it lol.

So I'd be happier about paying for tumblr if the experience were just a touch cleaner, faster. Oh, and not forgetting about PC users xP I know lots of people use their phone, I do too, it's convenient - but PC is just easier. Well, maybe for teens who can type on their phones at 50 mph it's no big deal. But I love love love my keyboard.

But anyway I paid it so I get a year without ads. Honestly I thought about it and $40 a year is what, ten cents a day? I really don't mind that. I wasn't really bothered by ads anymore since they've been scaled back, but now I can be bothered by them even less, so yay. OTOH, it looks like the subscription auto-renews, which I HATE. If so, I hope they send a warning email a few days before.

Oh and you know what else helped. I did a few youtube searches recently, and wanted to tear out my own hair over how frustrating it was. I just want a list of videos that relate to the subject of my search, not interspersed between "things I've seen before," "random shorts," "things that are similar," "things totally different that Youtube wants to show me anyway." And same thing on Google, Amazon, anywhere. I'm just so sick of it. So I'll fucking pay for fucking tumblr x'D Just work and not be annoying alright!!

I find it amusing that the moment I paid, I got a pop-up asking me to pay more to give ad-free to someone else. I might be more amenable when my pocketbook isn't smarting anymore 9_9

For tumblr?

In general, I follow people who post what I like. (Really rarely, if someone posts things I like but also things that make me uncomfortable, I will block the tag for the ones I don’t like.) Then if I see a tag I like, I add it to my tags list. I follow dreamling and Hob Gadling, for example. You might be interested in artists of tumblr, and tags for specific materials or processes you use.

I found I had to follow a certain number of people (about 200) before I stopped running out of posts to read, but I’m on a lot. Let’s see. Reblogging a lot is important on tumblr. I’ll like something if it’s a bit cool but I don’t want it flooding my feed, for example a cute kitten video. But I reblog almost everything I want to see more of (all the dreamling fics and art). It’s really hard to search on tumblr, so if there’s anything I want to be able to find back (my own posts and the very best of the other ones), I tag it with my own unique tag so I can search my account for it. You’ll notice that a lot of people have a tag like this (mine is tryana find it back).

If something is just really weird, often you can Google it to find an explanation. That’s how I figured out no it’s Becky. Later I realized I can also just wait and it will become clear—for example the knives that began to appear shortly before the Ides of March. Also! Go look up Ea-nasir, he shows up from time to time and it’s a delightful human story.

Also, porn bots. Sigh. When someone follows you, click on the icon and see if there’s a complete account or just a picture and basic description. If there’s nothing to it, report it as spam. If it’s a real person, yay! If it’s an actual porn blog, report it as sexually explicit so minors can’t see it, and then report it as spam. If you want them off your followers list faster you can also block them.

I have 40 legit followers now and often only get a few notes on my posts, so at the beginning, don’t expect much visibility unless someone with a lot of followers reblogs you. You are welcome to tag me in any original post you do because I want to see them and otherwise I might not! I’ll probably reblog it for you, though that doesn’t help much!

Anyway! Next time I see a how to tumblr post I’ll tag you on it. Have fun!

19.) Do you have a best friend? How long have you been friends? I do. Probably several "best" friends at various seasons of my life. We've been friends since we work bonded at the beginning of the pandemic. 😭 We both work in healthcare and would not have survived without each other.

40.)Do you like the beach? Do you prefer it sunny or cloudy? I'm more of a mountains person, but I don't mind the beach. Cloudy! The closest beaches to me are incredibly hot, so the clouds help...and I love them anyway. :)
