Inanimate Insanity Pokemon AU! (by Lycan)

In this AU, Cobbs is the current head of the Aether Foundation after Lusamine goes missing. He starts working on a project to make the "perfect fusion", resulting in the Mephones.

More AU stuff under the cut!

The events of Infinite Fusion are canon and it takes place in Alola. The floor is a lesser island far off the coast of Poni Island.

In this specific AU there's a distinction between Pokemon, Pokepeople and Humans. Pokepeople are sapient like humans but are pokemon.

The only 'true' pokemon are Baxter and Clover's butterflies. A Dwebble and various butterfly pokemon respectively.

Most of the Mephones are Eevee fusions, being the easiest to fuse together due to their volatile DNA. Cobs is aiming to make Tri Type pokemon specifically out of ultrabeasts. Like Lusamine he sees them as perfect and divine, but disregards their autonomy.

i watched nightcrawler with my girlfriend last night, and i noticed that the main character is shown to use an iphone 3gs. that phone was released in 2009, so in a movie made in 2014 that's a signifier of his lower economic status, but viewing the movie in 2024 when so many generations of phones have come and passed, you could easily just chalk it up as it being an old movie using the phones of the time. i, and i would assume most people my age or older, caught the signifier for what it was, but it's on the cusp of legibility. it's made me think about how many other, older movies have lost so much of what the audience is supposed to intuit because we no longer live in the world that the movie was made in. everything's always changing, and i kind of love it.

Manslaughter, Endangering the Welfare of a Child

In a heartbreaking case that has gripped New Jersey, in August 2024 Christopher Gregor was sentenced to 25 years in prison for the aggravated manslaughter of his 6-year-old son, Corey Micciolo.

The tragic incident occurred on April 2, 2021, when Gregor forced Corey to run on a treadmill until he fell. This led to Corey’s untimely death. Initially, Gregor faced child endangerment charges, but these were later upgraded to murder in March 2022, and subsequently changed to aggravated manslaughter.

The Judge sentenced Gregor to 20 years for aggravated manslaughter and an additional five years for endangering the welfare of a child, with the terms to run consecutively. This decision highlights the severity and distinct nature of each crime committed against young Corey.

During the emotional sentencing, Breanna Micciolo, Corey’s mother, delivered a powerful victim impact statement, expressing her grief and anger:

“Corey was and still is my life, my world and my everything. What this monster did was pathetic, disgusting, and I wish him nothing but the worst.”

Despite the overwhelming evidence, Gregor maintained his innocence, claiming: “I want to assure you, on April 2, I did nothing to cause Corey’s passing. … I did not hurt my son.”

The trial revealed chilling details, including footage from March 20, 2021, showing Gregor forcing Corey to run on a treadmill at the Atlantic Heights Clubhouse. The video captured Gregor increasing the treadmill’s speed, causing Corey to stumble and fall repeatedly. Disturbingly, Gregor would place Corey back on the treadmill and continue increasing the speed, even allegedly biting him on the head at one point.
