Hi! I was wondering, if you feel comfortable, if you could give an update as to how the wedding went and what your honeymoon was like? Only if you'd like to and it's not too private to share. It's more that I (and I'm sure others) were excited for you in the lead up to your wedding, and you mentioned it was a lovely day so would be keen to hear more :)

hi!! i would love to! it means a lot that people would be interested :)

overall, the wedding was amazing. the weather was perfect on the island. the ceremony garden overlooked the salish sea:

at the ceremony, we chose to do quiet vows so the crowd couldn't hear. at one point, i had put a silly pun in mine and it made A throw his head back and laugh, which made everyone laugh, and that was a really special moment. my niece read wild geese, which G had given me a copy of when i was at 3E so it was really sweet to have her there for that. A's dad officiated the ceremony (he's a unitarian minister) so that was really special. he did such an amazing job - i can't wait for the video!

the two of us went back to the room after the ceremony to just be with each other for a few minutes. we were both laughing and crying at the same time - it was an overflow of emotions!

after the ceremony, we had cocktail hour in the garden with oysters, apps, and special drinks based on our cats:

then we headed over to the barn where we had our very cool seating chart, designed to look like a bookshelf with people's names and table numbers on the spine:

we ate dinner outside in the shadow of the barn:

my best friend (the MOH) and A's brother (best man) gave hilarious toasts. then we went inside and had our first dance! i was sooooooo nervous (it was choreographed) but one of the sweet memories i'll have from the wedding is practicing in our bathroom the night before the wedding at like midnight. did not get much sleep that whole weekend!

it was an amazingly special day, one that i will never forget.

the honeymoon was also wonderful, but VERY hot. i do not do well in the heat lol so i was kind of crabby (also going through weed withdrawal which didn't help), but it cooled down a bit the second week so we did some more exploring.

we visited an old castle, an art museum in palma, a hammam (arab baths), took a sailboat for a sunset cruise (i got sick off the back of the boat lol but it was a beautiful sight while i was retching hahahaha), and went out for dinner pretty much every night. there have been a lot of anti-tourism protests in mallorca (many people come on cruise ships and/or stay at all inclusive resorts so they're not really contributing to the local economy) so we did our best to spend money at smaller restaurants and stores. we went out for a nice dinner the final night. it was a fun trip but we were both very ready to get back home, see the girls, and enjoy as much ice water as we wanted!!!

16 septembre:

La pluie est de retour et on en profite pour faire la route direction les îles Vesterålen, juste au nord des Lofoten. On visite le village Nyksund qui a été abandonné dans les années 1970 puis réhabilité récemment pour le tourisme. Très bien vendu par le routard mais on reste déçu car pas beaucoup de charme. On fait néanmoins un très bon restaurant et on s'occupe en jouant aux cartes. En fin de journée on va à Sto et on y campe. Micha me donnera une petite frayeur en mettant 45min pour aller chercher de l'eau dans un ruisseau pas loin. Ne le voyant toujours pas arriver la nuit tombant, je fais un tour en voiture gueulant de plus en plus fort son nom sans réponse à part l'écho de mes hurlements. J'hésite entre partir à la frontale en empruntant un sentier qu'il aurait potentiellement pris ou appeler la police. Au moment où j'opte pour la 2e option et lance et dernier appel "MICHAA!", j'entends un "oui ?" et l'aperçoit. L'eau du ruisseau ne lui plaisait pas et il s'était éloigné pour en trouver... bref. Je suis soulagé car je me voyais déjà raconter à ses parents ses derniers (heureux) moments.

La nuit le ciel se dégage et c'est "Aurore time".

17 septembre:

Randonnée en boucle qui passe par Sørkulen. C'est beau mais on a été tellement sublimés par les Lofoten qu'on n'est plus transcendés par autre chose. On entame ensuite le chemin du retour... Malheureusement en cette période hors saison on n'aurait pas réussi à visiter une ferme de saumons, le canon de Hitler ou la mine de Kiruna qui se trouvaient sur la route. On s'occupe donc autrement en se baladant sur la côte atlantique. Et comme en Normandie, la côte est bien gardée par des bunkers nazi et même un canon. On dormira pas loin.

Bilan: 13km, 800m d+

18 septembre :

Ville étape avant d'atteindre Kiruna en Suède: Narvik. A Kiruna on y extrait le fer pour l'acheminer à Narvik afin d'y être exporté. C'est ce qui lui a voulu d'être la cible de Hitler très tôt pendant la guerre. Pas de fer, pas d'armes. Pas d'armes, pas  de bataille gagnée. Pas de bataille gagné, pas de palais. On visitera donc un musée racontant la guerre qui s'y est déroulée.

Et enfin direction Kiruna où on dort pas loin de l'aéroport. On fera chambre à part avec Micha. Lui dormira dans la tente et moi dans la voiture; la météo ne m'inspirant pas confiance. A 20h00 la tente est déjà littéralement gelée.

19 septembre:

-2°c au thermomètre.

Vol vers Stockholm où on se sépare avec Micha. Lui enchaînera vers Toulouse et moi en train de nuit vers Hambourg.

20 septembre :

J'arrive à 5h30 à la gare. Il fait nuit et je vais au Macdo pour attendre le jour avec un café. Puis visite à pied de cette "Venise" du nord reconstruite après la guerre. La brique, les canaux et les églises dominent pendant cette promenade. Je visite également le musée de la miniature où je suis scotché devant la taille et la minutie des maquettes de paysages parcourus par des trains: Alpes, Italie, USA, patagonie, Scandinavie, Hambourg, etc, le musée est énorme.

Le soir je me promene au quartier Sankt Pauli où je loge, et je découvre une ambiance très proche de celle de Berlin. Je m'y plaît et j'ai enfin des bonnes bières à 2€. Ville portuaire oblige, le quartier est aussi un quartier "rouge". Une rue est même interdite aux mineurs et femmes. J'ai aussi le malheur de m'égarer (je jure c'est vrai) dans une rue où je me fais sans cesse interpeler.

21 septembre :

Promenade sur les quais de Hafen où l'on aperçoit l'identité hybride de Hambourg: entre grues, édifices architecturaux modernes (tel que l'Elbphilarmonie) qui rappellent la brique, les clochers qui dépassent; des grands bateaux à la retraite; la ville s'est merveilleusement (re)construite en assumant son côté industrielle (3e port d'Europe) et attire beaucoup de touristes (plus que Le Havre).

22 septembre.

Location de vélo et j'emprunte un itinéraire proposé par la ville qui m'envoie d'un point repère à un autre sur les îles de l'Elbe. Là aussi je suis surpris de voir comment la ville a pu être construite pour passer d'une zone portuaire gigantesque, à un parc, puis à un quartier résidentiel très charmant (toujours cette brique), puis à des champs, en quelques km.

Je rends le vélo et je vais prendre mon bus pour Paris. L'aventure européenne de mon congé s'arrête donc ici. Rdv dans 2 semaines au Pérou ! Hasta pronto !

hi!! i was trying to find the previous answer i wrote about whether getting p5s is worth it but the tumblr search function wouldn't play ball so i'm just going to awkwardly sum it up again hdfkjg

imo? underwhelming game, great roadtrip AU fic. the gameplay is mediocre to irritating but i trudged thru it because the friendship content is rly rly cute. i liked the virtual tourism aspect of it as well. you might enjoy it more than me if you're a fan of beat-em-ups (i know i'm not). the two new characters are also meh but at least they don't steal too much focus from the rest of the group. also: worth it for me just to see ryuji finally get to say fuck (thanks max mittelman, voice of the people, for fighting for that one) but since the price tag is p hefty idk if that alone is gonna clinch it for you gdfkgj. if you rly love these kids, can get it reduced, or are ok with pirating it i'd say it's worth giving it a whirl. otherwise idk tbh!

as for other recommendations, i am unfortunately someone who usually replays the same 5 games in perpetuity so i don't have a lot BUT i've been playing the two entries in the pathfinder series by owlcat games (kingmaker and wrath of the righteous) and i definitely recommend those. they're based on infinity engine games, so if you enjoyed e.g. baldur's gate or pillars of eternity, you might like them too. (though both also have a turnbased option if you're more of a divinity: original sin person.) imo the plot and companion writing of wrath of the righteous is better, but i'd still recommend starting with kingmaker if you're new to the pathfinder ttrpg system (based on d&d 3e) because it's pretty complex and wotr adds a lot of mechanics that you will probably find really overwhelming without a grasp on the basics. they're pretty standard epic fantasy type stories but they leave you a lot of freedom re: choices and character alignment. also, you can be gay in both, which is always nice.

also standard recommendations i give to everyone regardless are prey and the shadowrun series (esp dragonfall and hong kong).

8 juillet:

Départ avec le 1er bus pour Budva au Monténégro. Le bus arrive avec 1h de retard et le chauffeur est très désagréable avec tout le monde, finis le monde des bisounours en montagne, retour à la réalité urbaine. Hostel dans la cité médiévale que je visite et passant par la côte pour un plouf et une vue de l'extérieur sur cette belle ville. Malheureusement le Monténégro a fait le choix de l'argent facile et rapide en autorisant la construction de palaces tout autour, quel gachie... De plus, tout est extrêmement cher ici (en tenant compte du niveau de vie), mon hostel coûte 30e (prix écossais).

9 juillet:

Départ pour Kotor, ville qui se situe sur la baie (ou fjord) du même nom. Ville / citadelle médiéval très bien conservée, destiné au tourisme aujourd'hui mais qui a su garder son charme, on s'y promène avec plaisir. Je loue un scooter (aucun transport en commun et stop infructueux) pour aller au Mausolée de Njegoš. Avec mon permis grec, je n'ai pas le droit au scooter, mais le monsieur veut bien me donner un 50cc. Sauf que pour aller au Mausolée, il faut faire 1600m d+ sur 30km. Sur certains segments je suis bloqué à 25km/h. J'aurai connu plus virile comme moment. Après avoir payé 3e d'entrée au parc, puis 8e d'entrée au Mausolée (une arnaque ce pays) je peux admirer une vue sur la quasi totalité du pays, sans exagérer (je vois l'Albanie alors que je suis à mi chemin vers la Croatie).

Puis de retour à Kotor, je décide de monter les remparts qui encerclent la ville en incluant la colinne, donc ça monte. L'entrée est de 8e (!!!) mais un mec du hostel m'a dit qu'il y a un trou dans le mur à tel endroit. J'y vais, je le trouve et je me hisse facilement pour accéder à la partie "payante". Vue magnifique d'en haut sur toute la baie d'où j'admire le coucher de soleil.

10 juillet:

Toujours avec le scooter je longe la baie jusqu'à Perast, un autre vieux village (touristique). Je le visite, je me baigne et retour à Kotor pour prendre un bus direction Zabljak dans le parc national Durmitor. Finis le repos, retour à la montagne. Arrivé à la ville j'enchaîne direct par une petite marche pour arriver au lac noir où je pose ma tente un peu dans la forêt pour être discret. La nuit j'ai peur car un chien aboye longtemps à ~200m de moi.

11 juillet:

Randonnée au sommet Milošev tok d'où j'ai de beaux panoramas et où je me rends compte qu'en 4 jours j'aurai bien poncé le parc qui n'est finalement pas très grand. Je fais une sieste sur un carré vert au sommet. Retour à la tente, re-sieste, puis je fais le tour du lac noir (5km), et m'y baigne. On est sur un rythme moins sportif et je sens la fin du sejour approchée.

Bilan: 1600m d+, 25km (sans le gros sac lourd, l'effort est moindre malgré ces chiffres)
