#cat #3d models #3d model #3d modeling #3d art #3d #blender 3d #commission #b3d #gif #had to do some tricks with the compositing this time because #the bright orange and bright green are too close in brightness to do a standard color ramp #so i separated the parts that use green and the parts that use orange and made one material a lot darker and the other a lot lighter #and just mapped the colors to bright and dark parts of the image respectively #this is why the eyes are green in the render instead of orange!

hi! can you please tell me how you got your render to get those crispy pixelated edges in this piece? (https://www.tumblr.com/blobbei-art/737809268708950017/this-was-technically-my-art-fight-2023-attack-on) did you just lower the resolution or is it a plugin? assuming you're using blender ofc :]

Yes it's done in blender! I didn't download anything new, but you might have to turn on the node wrangler add-on if you don't have already.

And yeah basically you're right, it was done using compositing! Scale the render down, pixelate and then scale it back up to its original size. You can adjust the settings of course, just make sure to scale the same amount back up.

(Left is half, the one I used, right is a quarter. As an example on how it looks!)

Additionally make sure that under Render Properties > Film you change the filter size to 0.01 or else it won't be as crispy.

It's super easy! Hope you have fun with it :D

XENOSAGA EPISODE II Render

Part of this render was used as the boxart for the NTSC-J Release of Episode II, and I vastly prefer it to the one used for the PAL and NTSC-U/C releases. The full image was used in promotional materials, like posters.
