Day 4 of 5 day workout week:
Here I am. I haven’t posted workouts in a couple days. Workouts were had. Just didn’t feel like posting them. I had to process feelings and regroup a bit. But, here I am. Working on myself. Striving for my goals. Focusing on what I can control. Right now, I am giving myself the space to do what feels good and be around those who feel authentic and accepting. For now, this is non-negotiable.
-My workout was pretty fun today! A Kickboxing HIIT circuit was just what I needed to relieve some stress. I did four rounds of kickboxing combos. Each combo was followed by a lower body and an upper body segment. I used weighted gloves, dumbbells, an extra heavy resistance band, a weight bench, and ankle weights. Also, I finally felt up to doing pushups again! Only 16 reps, but it’s the first time I’ve been able to do them without a lot of pain since mid October. It was a fun power hour! 🥊
Total calorie burn = 392 kcal 👊🏽
Felt great to get back on track physically and rebound a bit mentally! Take care of yourselves out there. We only get one of you! 🫶🏽

Ah meant scholarly sources, I have read your posts (well written!) but not watched the videos (it is hard for me to focus on sound). :) thank you
Hey anon, based on your previous ask and this one, here are some scholarly sources that I have saved on the computer I am currently using. [I have more on another computer which I will be able to share those in a week or so. Done!]
How to access these sources?
[For context: 'Problematizing the Problem' section of my post Seme/uke - long response is being discussed and scholarly sources are for the questions (given below) I raised.]
Why would ‘het people’ or any people for that matter think in terms of male-female / masculine-feminine binaries? Do they think in those binaries only and not other binaries such as wen(文)-wu(武)? Why think in binaries and dichotomies at all? Don’t they not think in terms of multiplicity of genders/gender expressions such as various kinds of masculinities and femininities) based off on their local contexts?
Do queer people not make such/similar conflations? (Hint: they do.)
Is it a problem? While this seems to be the popular notion, plenty of scholars from across the globe has dismantled it.
I must admit that this was written following The Right Way to Be Gay - Who Can Tell? in a manner in which these questions would be treated as already answered. When read as a stand-alone, these questions would remain as food for thought at best.

Elsie Carson-Holt at LGBTQ Nation:
Though conservatives often accuse companies of losing out when a brand touts progressive values, the right-wing adage “go woke, and go broke,” has been disproven by a recent study. Brands that are supportive of LGBTQ+ rights or social justice movements see greater consumer engagement and loyalty from customers. Unstereotype Alliance, a business initiative convened by UN Women, more inclusive advertising campaigns positively impact profits, sales and brand worth. Researchers at Saïd Business School at Oxford University analyzed data from Diageo, Kantar and Unilever, in collaboration with the Geena Davis Institute. The research, based on an analysis of 392 brands across 58 countries, reveals that inclusive advertising can boost short-term sales by nearly 3.5% and drive long-term sales by over 16%. The study spanned various product categories, including confectionery, snacks, personal care, beauty, pet food, pet care, alcohol, consumer healthcare, and household products across diverse regions. Inclusive advertising also persuades 62% of consumers to choose a product and enhances brand loyalty for 15% of shoppers. The study highlights that ads that authentically portray people, without using stereotypes, have a clear competitive advantage in the marketplace, influencing consumer preferences and long-term success.
[...]
On the other side, the beer brand Bud Light also faced right-wing rage after partnering with trans influencer Dylan Mulvaney. After the incident, Jason Warner, CEO of the European branch of Bud Light’s parent company, Anheuser-Busch InBev, said that the company would no longer attempt inclusivity and “stay in our lane.”
The study comes after right-wing influencer Robby Starbuck has forced multiple companies to cave by accusing them of having “woke agendas” and sending a social media mob after them. Starbuck succeeded in getting companies such as Lowe’s, John Deere, Harley Davidson, and more to drop their DEI initiatives, stop partnering with the Human Rights Campaign, and end sponsorship of Pride festivals. When fear of Starbuck caused Ford Motors to follow behind the other brands, President of the Human Rights Campaign, Kelley Robinson, called Starbuck a “MAGA bully and Republican-reject.” It later released a study that details how rollbacks on DEI from large corporations in recent years are wildly unpopular with LGBTQ+ individuals and alienating many consumers. The latest research adds even more weight to that argument.
A new study by Oxford University’s Saïd Business School and Geena Davis Institute reveals that pro-inclusive advertising and support for social justice (esp. LGBTQ+) causes see increased consumer engagement and loyalty from customers, much to the chagrin of anti-inclusion activists like Robby Starbuck.

doing a silly dance because my gel got more viscous
(page 401-408)
Every day that Homestuck gets updated for the rest of Act 2 I will spin this wheel to predict what will happen that day, and keep track of how often the wheel gets it right. Because anything can happen in Homestuck, but also, certain things keep recurring in Homestuck. I also would 100% believe it if I learned it was written by spinning a wheel in this way, and that's not a criticism at all.
John puts the bunny back in the box, but he does not get his epic movie moment, because he puts it back in the box too hard and it falls out the other end. Unfortunately he's still a kid, and he's got a fair bit of growing and character development to do before he can be a cool action movie hero. I did rewatch the Con Air clip linked form p.20 because I thought it'd be cool if the shale imp strife had been made to parallel that scene in some way, but unfortunately I can't see a connection. Imp strife is still very cool though.
John gains two levels for defeating his first enemy, in a classic video game system where progress through the early levels is really quick, but then gets slower and slower at higher levels. We can see the first 16 levels on John's echeladder [echelon = rank in a hierarchy + ladder = climbing device], and a scrollbar that indicates there are many more to come. All the levels have fun names, and all the names we see relate to youth or childhood in some way. I would love to see the names of higher levels and find out if they're all like this, or if the ladder represents growing up and becoming an adult, and reflects this in the level names.
With each level, John gets a flashier and more colorful virtual feather on his virtual hat - from the idiom 'feather in your cap' [achievement to be proud of]. He also gets some standard video game upgrades - more health, in-game inventory space, and in-game currency (which implies the exciting existence of a Sburb in-game shop). The health being represented by viscosity suggests that it's not a greater amount of health, it's just that the health he has is harder to knock out of the health vial - which is consistent with how the imp strife worked on p.397 and p.400, and is arguably a better representation of what it means to be a physically and mentally healthy person. Real people aren't seen as having 'more' health, just 'better' health, or as tougher and more robust.
And then John does a silly dance because he's happy to be good at a video game and it's very cute.
Then, we get some new strife specibus mechanics. It turns out the strife specibus automatically updates if the nature of a wielded weapon changes - in this case, hammerkind to handlekind - and any other weapons of the same type are modified to match. This seems like a system that could definitely be exploited to get more powerful weapons. John could fix a knife to his hammer to invent the all new hammerbladekind and do bludgeoning and slashing damage all at once.
It's fun to learn that enemies within Sburb are limited by their own strife specibi, and so couldn't just - for example - steal John's weapon when he drops it and use it against him. Based on p.392 where the shale imp just punches John out, I'd guess that they start off without a specibus and can only make unarmed attacks, but have a free strife card to allocate something they find to. More powerful enemies might have multiple free strife cards and/or come with their own specialized weapons.
Bunnykind being a valid strife specibus has some weird implications, though. If John had an angry pet bunny in the house, could he now set that on the imps and use it as a weapon? Or would it follow the same rules as Rose not being able to select John with the cursor, where a living thing can't be used as a weapon? Where's the line? Branchkind is a valid strife specibus (p.37) suggesting that a plant could possibly be used as a weapon which is also alive. If it's not careful, this system could accidentally answer some big questions on the nature of consciousness and the soul.

can you pls do an f1 race summary from this weekend i'm literally living for your f1 lore stories
ABSOLUTELY
ok so while i will not go into Everything from this weekend (cause there was a lot) i will do my best to talk about the last 10 laps because wow.
so!
here's what you need to know:
heading into the last race of the year (abu dhabi), the standings for the constructors championship were as follows:
red bull: 822 mercedes: 392 ferrari: 388
so while redbull had secured the win several races ago, ferrari and mercedes were still duking it out for 2nd (keep in mind, were talking several million dollars difference in prize money here)
heading into the race the two teams were about even. charles leclerc was starting p2 on the grid with his teammate carlos sainz starting an abysmal p16 after crashing in practice (this is the same guy who ran over the manhole cover in vegas and narrowly avoided getting royally and permanently fucked). on the mercedes side george russell was starting p4 (mostly thanks to lando norris fucking up his qualifying lap but landos abu dhabi race is another story entirely) and lewis hamilton was starting p11.
heading into the final 10 laps the two teams were neck and neck for second in the constructors championship. but, carlos sainz had once again been fucked over by ferrari strategy because while he had already pitted once, he was on hard tires both times (you have to run two different compound tires during the race as per rules) so he still needed to pit again to put on a set of medium tires. so while he was hovering around p10ish, ferraris baller strategy of "wait for a safety car to pit" was looking grimmer and grimmer as no one crashed into each other and therefore there was no safety car. so heading into the last 10 laps, it was pretty clear that carlos was not getting any points to help the team (points are scored if you end p10 or higher), leaving it all down to charles leclerc.
sainz ended up pitting on the last lap and finishing in a horrendous p18 (tho technically it was a dnf because of the tire thing).
charles leclec was chilling up in p2, about 16 seconds off of max verstappen (the least important person in this story). behind charles was george russell, lando norris, then sergio perez.
lap 47. perez tries to pass lando norris. he is unsuccessful and they bump into each other. its kind of unclear who causes the accident (the announcers debated fiercely over it) but lando gets pushed off the track, still ahead of perez. race control debates it and end up giving perez a 5 second time penalty.
perez passes norris, then moves on to pass russell. hes now in 3rd. but, he still has the 5 second time penalty, meaning that if he wants to be on the podium he needs to be at least 5 seconds in front of george russell. perez zooms on, now trying to pass leclerc.
lap 58. the last lap. george russell is in 4th (but will end 3rd because of perez's time penalty) and hamilton is in 9th. this will put mercedes just 3 points ahead of ferrari and they will take second in the constructors championship. charles leclerc, who has been getting fucked left right and center up the ass with a fork by ferrari strategy all season long says fuck it what do i have to lose. he has no chance in hell of passing verstappen (who is still 16 seconds ahead of him) but he may have a shot at knocking russell back to 4th (with perez's time penalty) and if he knocks russell back to 4th, ferrari will just narrowly take second in the constructors championship.
so, with all the rage of a man who was deemed ferraris golden boy but hasn't won a single race all year, charles gets on his radio and says the following:
"tell me the gap between checo (perez) and russell. if theres less than 5 seconds ill give him the place (?) and i will let us switch for the last sector. hes got 5 seconds anyway."
the gap between russell and perez is 2.7 seconds. at this rate, russell will still get third and mercedes will take second.
ferrari doesnt exactly tell charles to let checo take p2, but they also don't tell him to not let checo take p2. and boy, charles has already been through the wringer this season, its the last race, he might as well give it everything hes got.
and right now, everything hes got is to let checo pass him, increasing the gap between him and russell. because, 5 seconds will be added on to checos finishing time, and, if he is more than 5 seconds ahead of russell when he finishes, this will keep russell in fourth place. charles will still take p2 with checos time penalty and if all goes according to plan he will be able to singlehandedly secure ferrari second in the constructors championship.
its so genius that you wonder why the ferrari strategists didnt think of it themselves.
but alas, the plan does not work. checo only finishes about 3.7 seconds infant of russell, meaning that with his penalty russell still takes p3, and allowing mercedes to come second in the constructors championship by only 3 points.
charles, rightfully, is fucking pissed. hes done the job of himself, carlos, and the strategists and it still isn't enough to pull out p2.
after the race is over and charles curses spectacularly that they come in 3rd overall, he thanks everyone at ferrari for "this difficult season" (he doesnt sound very thankful at all) and ferrari don't really even acknowledge him
if you want to hear his radios from the last lap they are here

20 questions for writers
i was tagged by @devondespresso and @spicysix! thanks guys!!
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
68! oh shit my next fic is my 69th i gotta finish that smut fic STAT
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
191,966. crazy
3. What fandoms do you write for?
most recently, stranger things, but i've also written a lot for julie and the phantoms and be more chill. and then various other oneshots for random stuff
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Befriend the Bully - Nerdy Prudes Must Die, 868 kudos (and 3rd most kudos'ed fic in the hatchetfield fandom???)
Saint Frost - Rise of the Guardians, 593 kudos
Me Too - Percy Jackson & the Olympians, 392 kudos
Hopefully - Be More Chill, 286 kudos
All This Feeling Second Best, It's Got Me by the Throat - Julie and the Phantoms, 249 kudos
most of those are pretty old so it makes sense that they've had the time to accumulate kudos, but that means they were also written when i was in high school so it's kind of like 😬
5. Do you respond to comments?
i used to more, now i don't really unless they said something that i specifically want to comment on. i just kind of forget or don't have anything to say lmao
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
probably my troped round 1 fic, you look like you've just seen a monster (is that what i look like to you?). usually i like to have a happy ending but i wrote this in like two days the week of my first breakup. so uh yeah couldn't really think of happy ending for that one.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
pretty much anything else lmao. i love to write fluff and cuddles and shit like that so just go read any other of my fics
8. Do you get hate on fics?
the only hate on fics i can remember ever getting was back in my bmc days when i wrote meremine and someone was mad bc michael is gay and didn't like that i put him in a throuple with a woman. but like other than that clown behavior no not really lmao
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
i have one (1) smut fic published and it is on a different account because i was so scared of jatp fandom being mean lmao. luckily i only got nice comments on it so i will share that you can go read it here. i mean it was probably kind of obvious that it was me because there are only so many ppl into that rarepair? but idk jatp mutuals lmk who you thought it was lsdfksjf
i have been trying to write steddie smut recently, i have a wip that i'm working on that i will hopefully finish soon. if anyone would like to beta that lmk lol 👀 it is pretty kinky i will say lol but like. that's steddie for ya
10. Do you write crossovers?
not really. i'm more likely to just make an au of something for whichever fandom i'm currently obsessed with
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
not to my knowledge
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
i don't think so? ppl would be welcome to do so tho
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
no. co-brainstormed and went crazy in the dms about it tho? oh yeah
14. What's your all-time favorite ship?
evidence shows it to be steddie, at least for now. i'm a big multishipper so a better question would more be "what do i find myself most often in the mood for?" and the answer would still be steddie sldkfjs
15. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you will?
vampire chrissy fic i want to do right by you i fear i may not.... i signed it up for the wip big bang tho so hopefully i do actually get it done
16. What are your writing strengths?
dialogue! i love writing dialogue. screenwriting is awesome because it's just dialogue.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
hrmm action scenes. repetitive prose. actually sitting down and plotting something cohesively
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
nothing against it but i'm only fluent in english so i'd consult someone else who actually speaks that language
19. First fandom you wrote for?
doctor who in middle school :) i wrote my fics in my little writing notebook and some of them are even on ao3 lol
20. Favorite fic you've written?
like i said earlier with the favorite ship question, this is tough to answer because i feel like it comes down to more what am i in the mood for most often. i'm pretty proud of my trans steve fic as well as aro bi reggie, both of them because i spent a long time trying to make sure i doing the representation right and i think i did a good job. also that sad bobby polycurve fic from the kudos question, i put a lot of myself in it and i feel very proud of how it came out.
no-pressure tagging: @wr0temyway0ut @zazujoy @sunsetcurvecuddles @chickwiththepurpleguitar @weneedglitter
@queenofthequillandink @jughead-is-canonically-aroace @innytoes @floating-in-the-blue @invisibleraven
and anyone else who wants to do it!

your friend and mine Jonathan Harker is back for another year of Dracula Daily! and if you're like me, you might want to keep track of how much you've read.
the StoryGraph listing for Dracula Daily has 440 pages, so below the cut is the dates of each entry, and the approximate page count for each. (the simpler option listed on StoryGraph is 4 pages per email, as there are 110, but sometimes you want full credit for reading the October 3 email.) some page counts span a couple of days due to short entries, but for the most part, entries are at least a page!

What is a timelord's ideal environmental temperature range? Like humans feel comfortable between 66 and 75 (F) despite their internal temp being around 95-98. Since it can be assumed that timelords are comfortable at similar environmental temps to humans, how far does that range go? Since their normal body temp is around 60°, would they feel comfortable in warmer or colder temperatures than humans? Or is their range just bigger overall, like they'd be fine in a room that was 90° or 30°?
What is a Time Lord's ideal environmental temperature range?
Gallifreyans have much better thermoregulation than humans, meaning they can remain thermally comfortable in a wider range of environmental temperatures without their core body temperature changing that much.
🔥 Hot environmental temperatures
Most Gallifreyans are fine until the environment becomes 35°C/95°F, where their body will start compensating with basic homeostatic mechanisms.
35 to 42.2°C/95 to 108°F: Basic compensation (sweating)
42.2 to 50.1°C/108 to 122°F: Advanced compensation (more sweating and vessel dilation)
50.1°C+/122°F+: Damaging in prolonged periods w/o adjustment
🧊Cold environmental temperatures
When it comes to being cold, they are much better. They can feel comfortable in temperatures at 7°C in normal clothes, until it reaches around -5.3°C/41°F.
-5.3 to -11.6°C/22.6 to 11.1°F: Basic compensation (shivering)
-11.6 to -17.5°C/11.1 to 0.5°F: Advanced compensation (vasoconstriction and shivering)
-17.5°C-/0.5°F-: Damaging in prolonged periods w/o adjustment
🌋Extreme temperatures
They're also able to sustain particularly extreme temperatures for a short amount of time.
200°C+/392°F+: Sustainable for 7-10 seconds
-300°C-/-508°F-: Sustainable for 7 seconds to 6 minutes (with biological help)
Being in these temperatures are entirely recoverable if under 10 seconds. Long exposure to cold environments only works with the use of the respiratory bypass to maintain oxygen, but there may be lasting damage.
🌡️Biological temperatures
As mentioned, they run between 15-19°C/59-66.2°F as a normal body temperature. The Doctor has a normal body temperature of around 17°C/62.6°F, while Marnal is around 16°C/60.8°F. Their body temp is well controlled and shouldn't deviate by more than 2-3 degrees from their norm. Under 15°C/59°F~ is hypothermia, and over 19°C/66.2°F~ will cause heatstrokes etc.

Ooh, 196!
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
1,162,137! A lot of nonsense.
3. What fandoms do you write for?
I currently write for Bridgerton, A Discovery of Witches/All Souls Trilogy. Also Merlin, House of the Dragon!
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Always give me more!
The Sea and Sky - 506 kudos
That's the kind of love I’ve been dreaming of - 422 kudos
Arranged - 392 kudos

Sister of the Bride - 333 kudos!
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I always try to! I love interacting with readers, and getting comments is always so cool!
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Probably this fic Too Late - in which Miriam and Baldwin are in love but like, her husband is in the way.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Most of my fics have fluffy endings - I'm an optimistic cynic, I like a happy ending. I would probably recommend vowed i would always be yours that I wrote for @lavellenchanted, because it's such a sweet ending and part of a series.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Hahahahaha yep.
Funniest hate comment I've received:
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
I do, it varies! I kind of like writing for different couples and I hope my readers like it!
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
I haven't! I don't know if I would be good at it.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I know of lol. Please let me know.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
No, but if you want to translate my fic do let me know! I'd want everyone to be able to read my fics.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
I really need to.
14. What’s your all-time favorite ship?
Ooh Arthur and Gwen. One of my first ships and always my favourite.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
Oh, I have four lol. I really need to finish the witch!Kate fic.
16. What are your writing strengths?
I can put words on paper? I have no clue, I'm not good at recognizing my strengths, I just write things.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Oh goodness, I forget things, I'm terrible at long descriptions (I always feel like I'm either vague or too descriptive), I edit but will definitely forget something in the edit.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
Always do it, I hope I do it well!
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Black Panther! My fine, fine man.
20. Favorite fic you’ve written?
I'm an insufferable Brit who hates all of her work, so I never have a favourite per se. I did enjoy writing price tag

my spreadsheet (public version)
so i have this spreadsheet that i use for prompts for this fandom, comprised of several prompt lists and the exact order of which is not easily publicly available. if you want to send me a prompt, send me a ship and a number between 1-725 (subject to change) and receive a sort of mystery box surprise of a fic. through the use of this list, you can see what prompts have already been done. if it’s for another ship, you can certainly send me the same prompt that was already used in another fic. if a prompt has been used three times, that prompt will be closed. thank you for your cooperation <3 listing under the cut!
possible progress statuses: prompted, in progress, editing, posted. if a prompt does not have one of these statuses, it has not been sent in thus far.
