31 Days of Halloween | Main Masterlist

You’re walking back home when you hear some noise coming from some dumpsters down the alley. You pause for a second but quickly pick up your pace because no way in hell will you be that dumb one in the scary movies who tries to figure out what made the weird sounds. You continue your walk towards your place when suddenly a black cat appears in your peripheral view.

“Oh my gosh! Hi little cutie!” you turn towards it and bend down to stretch your hand out slowly towards it to not startle it. The cat hisses and arches it’s back, ready to attack if it considers you to be a threat.

You step back a bit to give it a bit more space. “Don’t worry, I won’t hurt you. I just want to give you some pets!” The cat seems to calm down a bit, as if it somehow understood you but is still wary of you. It slowly approaches you and its little nose keeps twitching as it gets closer. Once you are able to touch it, you carefully pet between its ears and the cat starts purring and melting into your hands. You start rubbing along its back when you realize that your hand comes back wet and red.

You gasp. “Oh no, you are hurt!” You take off your scarf and carefully wrap it around the cat before holding it in your arms. “I will take care of you. Don’t worry.”

Once you reach your home, you take the cat into your bathroom and grab the first aid kit. You place it on your counter, leaving it wrapped in your scarf to keep it warm.

“Okay,” you sigh as you pull out the gauze and alcohol. “It’s going to hurt a little bit.” You don’t know why you are talking to the cat as if it can understand you. You pour some alcohol onto the gauze and warn the cat that it is going to sting as you get closer to it’s wound. It hisses at you and tries to swat at you with its claws, but you were quicker and managed to get out of its way.

“Hey, I am trying to help you! No swatting, please.” You pet between its ears and it begins to relax again. You continue petting it as you try cleaning its wound with the other hand to keep it distracted from what you’re doing.

After a while, you manage to fully clean it’s wound, and you wrap it into a fluffy towel to keep it warm. You step away to change into more comfortable clothing before grabbing it without the towel. “Come on little buddy, let’s go make you something to eat!”

You walk into your kitchen and take out some random ingredients that you think the cat would like. You line them up on your counter and place the cat near the items, so it could hopefully pick what it wants to eat. It looks at you with what you would describe as a deadpan face and sits there looking between you and the food.

“What? I don’t want to poison you after I cleaned your wound up! Now choose what you want to eat!” You pout at it, hoping to get it to choose something to eat.

It meows and gets closer to the edge of the counter causing you to freak out and grab it before it walks off the edge. “You’re going to fall!” you scold it as it tries to climb out of your arms and onto the ground. You put it down and it scratches at the fridge’s door.

You sigh and open the door, picking up the cat again so it can apparently also look into your fridge to pick out what it wants to eat. It gets close to the leftover lamb skewers you have, and you roll your eyes. “Of course, you want some meat. At least pick something from what I set out as well okay?” you grab the skewers and set the cat back on the counter.

It heads over to the spinach and nudges it. Once you grab it, it also nudges the cheese and tries to eat some from the still closed package. You shake your head and grab it away from the cat, but not without giving it a couple of pieces of cheese for it to munch on before you give it dinner.

“You need a name,” you say softly as you cut the lamb skewers into smaller chunks and place them into a small bowl. “I am tired of calling you ‘the cat’ and ‘it’. You need a name.”

The cat stops licking its paw and looks up at you tiredly. “How about… Fluffy?” you throw out. It sounds like it gives out a sigh before it turns away from you. “Alright, not Fluffy. Would it be weird if I named you after my crush?” you ask the cat as you start cutting up the cheese and spinach. It turns towards you and tilts its head to the side slightly. “I mean not his name literally, just his nickname I call him by. You just remind me of him a lot.” The cat’s ears twitch a bit as it keeps staring at you.

“Yunki,” you say to it, and it stands up straight. “Huh, you like that?” You smile at it and give it some pets. “I also have to know if you’re a boy or girl actually. Didn’t think about that until now.” You finish Yunki’s bowl and place it on the floor. You grab another small bowl and fill it up with water, placing it next to the food bowl.

You get near Yunki and pet its head. “Do you mind if I check if you are female or male?” Yunki sighs and stretches out on the counter. Taking this as consent, you turn the cat around and check its lower region.

“Congrats, you’re a male!” you giggle petting Yunki’s tummy causing him to let out purrs. You grab him and place him near the bowls.

“Bon appétit,” you tell Yunki as he starts eating his food. You clean up your mess and decide to heat up some leftover food you had from lunch yesterday. You heat up your food and place it on the table. Grabbing a drink for yourself from the fridge, you check on Yunki. He is calmly eating and drinking, making a smile appear on your face.

You sit down at the table, eating and thinking about what you’re going to do now. Can you even consider yourself Yunki’s owner? Where IS his owner? How did he get hurt in the first place? He obviously is well fed since he isn’t skin and bones. It just makes no sense to you any of this.

While you were lost in your thoughts, you didn’t realize that Yunki had finish his food and was just staring at you from across the room. He notices that you had gone lost into thought and started playing with your food. He cautiously walks over to you and rubs his body on your legs, pushing your thoughts away. You grab him and place him on your lap. He curls on your lap as you continue to finish your dinner.

When you’re about to get up to clean your dishes, you get this random idea and hope that he would be true to your crush’s personality and wouldn’t fight you on this.

You grab his body and stick it into your hoodie pocket and leave his little head poking out. He moves around a bit but stays in your pocket. You grin widely and go into the kitchen—picking up Yunki’s dishes as well—to wash the dishes. You move around carefully to not harm Yunki, but from what you can feel—his purrs—he is enjoying the pocket more than what you thought he would.

You turn off the light and head towards your room to get settled down for the night. You try to grab Yunki out of your pocket—keyword: tried.

He hisses every time you try to get him out and lightly swats at your hand. “Fine, stay in there then.” You roll your eyes and start doing your night routine before turning on your TV. You turn off the lights and rearrange your pillows and blankets to settle in your bed. You pet Yunki on his head. “You want to come out now? We can cuddle?”

Yunki stretches out and steps out of the hoodie pocket and lays on your pillow.

You pull up a movie and lay down, grabbing Yunki and moving him to be able to cuddle and pet him. He yawns and cuddles into you, enjoying your soft strokes.

“Goodnight, Yunki,” you whisper into his fur, feeling him fall asleep in your arms.

You slam your hand on your phone, turning the alarm off blindly. You stretch and feel your arm bump into something hard. You touch it, thinking that it is Yunki, only to feel that it is not fur that you are touching.

You jump up wide-eyed, looking at the naked back that you don’t remember going to sleep next to in shock. “Oh my god. You’re not Yunki.”

The male shuffles and groans at your voice. “Go back to sleep, it’s still too early” you hear him say. You tilt your head as you recognize the deep, sleep-filled voice.

“Yoongi?” you question hesitantly.

The male freezes at the name and slowly turns around in your bed, meeting your eyes.

“Oh my God, it’s you!”

Glossary:

Attempt - A draft with major changes. Wording changes of a paragraph or more (not including completely new material), changes in POV, setting changes, characterization changes, etc, are included in this. An Incomplete History of Zhang Luyi & Chen Minghao's Friendship

Do you like Pangxie's chemistry in Tibetan Sea Flower? Do you feel that they are really old friends? Besides the fact that Zhang Luyi and Chen Minghao are very good actors, they are indeed old friends, and the earliest record that I can find of them working together dates back to 2006. However, CMH was in the 1996 class of acting at the The Central Academy of Drama, while ZLY was in the 1999 class of directing at the same university, so I figured they definitely got to know each other before 2006. So more or less, on Chinese social media, people usually assume that they've been friends for almost 20 years.

Before I dig into the history, I want to mention that some Pangxie scenes are actually improvised by ZLY and CMH on set. CHM has played Pangzi several times, and is insanely good at it, so he knows about Pangzi and the character dynamics inside out. While ZLY is new to the DMBJ universe, he did read all the DMBJ novels before the filming of Tibetan Sea Flower, so he has very insightful understanding of the characters and relationship dynamics as well.

For example, according to an interview of the director, this iconic & funny "拜年/new year's greeting" scene in episode 6 was improvised, and the director just decided to keep it in the final cut. In a BTS footage, Pangxie putting peanuts on Feng's very wrinkled test paper in episode 9 was also shown to be something that ZLY and CMH came up with during rehearsing.

The History

In the first paragraph, I mentioned that they went to the same undergraduate university. Another thing that connects them even more is that they went to the same graduate school - Peking University's School of Arts, and both have the master's degree in arts. ZLY fans sometimes just endearingly call CMH “师哥/shige" because of all of this.

In 2006, ZLY and CMH were in the stage play 琥珀/Amber. Here are some rare photos of 26-year old ZLY and 31 year old CMH LOL:

Both of them continued to do a lot of theatre works, some tv/film roles, and also attended grad school in the coming years. ZLY got his breakthrough leading role in 2014, and started to lead in shows/films.

In 2016, ZLY and South Korean actor Jang Hyuk starred in the drama 新海/New Sea, and CMH was seen sharing the following scene with ZLY. Unfortunately, due to China's ban on South Korean entertainment content in the same year, this drama will probably never see the light of day.

Then, I think some of you already know this, in late 2016, CMH directed the stage play Big D, and ZLY was his lead actor in this play. According to different news articles, the tickets of this play were sold out in either 5, 7, or 8 minutes (LOL no idea why there were such discrepancies, but they were sold out within 10 minutes for sure).

In 2018, they appeared in The Sound which is a very good variety show about dubbing. Celebrities were asked to dub domestic and international shows/films (sometimes in both Chinese and English) to show case their voice acting skills and language skills. What's really funny is that ZLY is one of the typical introverts who can be a clown when he's surrounded by people he's familiar with, but once you put him in an unfamiliar environment, he gets nervous and shy. So after he and CMH entered the room together, he just naturally and subconsciously stood right beside CMH, the one he was most comfortable with, even though he was supposed to team up with another actress (who was off screen). He got really confused for a minute when all the other guests and hosts were questioning why he didn't stand beside his teammate LOL.

Both ZLY and CMH are really very low key actors in c-ent, so you don't see them in public events a lot. The last time that they were spotted chatting in public was during the premiere of the movie Under the Light last September.

Anyways, thanks for reading! I hope this can bring some insight into their friendship. You can tell they are just so comfortable with each other, and shooting Tibetan Sea Flower seemed to be such a fun experience for them. I hope they get to work together again soon in the future!

“Did you know that smoking weed makes your sperm count decrease?”

You scrunch your nose at Taehyung’s vulgar question, but he doesn’t notice. He’s nearly cross-eyed as he licks along the edge of the blunt he just rolled with expert fingers.

Taehyung stares at you for a moment. You can practically see the gears turning in his head before he sticks the blunt between his lips and speaks around it.

The summer air, thick with humidity, doesn’t help when your face heats up from Taehyung’s mistake. It’s funny how seemingly inconsequential moments—like Taehyung forgetting that you don’t have the same parts as him—can bring you such euphoria. Taehyung has always been good at that, though. He’s never treated you differently, singled you out, or made you feel like you aren’t enough or are too much.

You’re just two dudes perched on a mossy rock in the middle of the woods, smoking a blunt while the camp kids you’re supposed to be taking care of are asleep in their cabins.

Simple as that.

Taehyung pauses to light the end of the blunt and inhales deeply, drawing smoke through his pink lips and exhaling it slowly. The thick cloud doesn’t have a chance to disappear into the night sky before Taehyung breathes it back in through his nose.

Rolling your eyes at Taehyung’s unnecessary display of stoner prowess, you take the blunt from his pinched grip and curl your lips around the tip.

“Are you trying to say weed is, like, male birth control?” you ask, smoke coming out of your mouth in disjointed puffs and streams between your teeth while you talk.

“It basically is.”

“That feels very unreliable.”

Your fingers brush against each other every time you pass the blunt between you. The contact makes your arm tingle, and the feeling wiggles down the right side of your body the more times you reach for the blunt.

“I mean, I smoke, like, every day, and I haven’t knocked anyone up yet,” Taehyung admits with a shrug.

You nearly choke.

“Listen,” Taehyung grins as he brings the blunt to his lips. Yours are still pinched together with his other hand. “I got tested before camp started, and I got no babies.”

“That’s not–”

“I know the test is for STIs, not babies, obviously!” Taehyung squawks, shoving you hard on the shoulder when you finally free yourself from him with a giggle, almost sending you flying off the rock. “I’m just saying I got neither.”

“Alright, alright! I believe you. No STIs, no babies.”

“Exactly.” Taehyung winks at you as he exhales a thick cloud of smoke.

Since you’re sitting next to each other, it’s impossible to escape the shy embarrassment Taehyung triggers in you. He has no business looking as good as he does when he smokes. It’s his lips and eyes, you think, watching him take another hit. The perfect pink bow of his upper lip and the plushness of his bottom lip make his mouth look pretty when the smoke swirls out of it.

The cabin is small, with a living room big enough for a couch and a coffee table, a small kitchenette off to the side, and a door to the bedroom you’re sharing with Taehyung. You each have a twin-sized bed that sits across from the other in the small room, and you share a large dresser placed in between your beds against the back wall. On the opposite side of the room is the door to the bathroom. Everything is a tight fit, but you don’t mind. The two of you are hardly ever in the cabin anyway. Being a counselor requires long hours full of activities, meaning you’re only in your cabin to sleep unless you have an off day.

“I’m gonna go enjoy a nice, warm shower now.” Taehyung rubs his victory in your face, his tongue pressed to the inside of his cheek, and his eyes glittering like fire embers in the cabin’s pale yellow lighting.

The Bangtan Gal Masterlist

Author's Note: Hey! I wrote this story back in 2016 on some fanfic websites and am bringing it back as I edit the chapters. I wanted to put my perspective and imagination on what if BTS had a black girl in their group from America. This'll be a long story starting from their debut so enjoy the ride!

I have so many chapters already written. I had stopped in the story around late 2016 before the MAMA Awards. As I wrote this story over the years I wanted this character to be relatable and grow as a performer as well as go through hardships. It'll be a slow start but it will get better as the chapters go on, I hope you give it a chance.

This will mainly start with friendship. Not just the character and the love interest. I didn't want to rush things and I tried my best to add a lot of bonding and cute moments. This is a SLOW BURN with my OC and Jungkook. The two will not become a couple until 2016.
