He wanted to confront Mark,someway,somehow, but fuck he couldn’t. Cyclone was aware of his suspicions,which was good, but he was still in here. And now that he heard that Miranda is messing with Bea back in San Diego was…distressing.

Rooster exhales as he rubs his forehead, reading and rereading the reports trying to find anything out of place.Anything that could connect Mark to the breach.

His fingers traced over the details in the reports, eyes scanning the words and numbers for any anomaly. As a seasoned pilot,Rooster had an instinct for patterns and irregularities. He could figure something out.

The suspicions about Mark's involvement in the breach weighed heavily on Rooster's mind. The breach wasn't just a security threat; it was a breach of trust within the squadron. Rooster felt a profound sense of responsibility to his fellow pilots and the integrity of the unit. 

If Mark was indeed involved, Rooster was determined to uncover the truth.

Cyclone had been briefed on Rooster's concerns. He understood the gravity of the situation and provided unwavering support,given that he finds proof. Rooster chose to keep the ‘suspect’s name quiet for now. Yet, even with Cyclone's backing, Rooster couldn't shake off the frustration, unable to confront Mark face to face.

The distant sounds of jets taking off and landing on the carrier deck filtered through the walls, his gaze flickered to the small window, where he could catch glimpses of the open sea stretching to the horizon.

As Rooster continued to pore over the reports, a message notification flashed on his screen. It was a secure communication from Cyclone.

Hangman(08:08)

Rooster, anything in the reports?

Rooster sighed and typed out his response.

Rooster(08:08)

Nothing concrete yet. It's like looking for a needle in a haystack. Anything on your end?

Hangman(08:12)

Not much. I've been helping Bob in digging into some of the communication logs, but it's all encrypted and heavily monitored. They're covering their tracks well.

Rooster leaned back in his chair, frustration evident in his expression,groaning softly.

Rooster(08:15)

We need something substantial, Jake. Concrete evidence that ties Mark to the breach. I can't just go on suspicions; it needs to be airtight.

Hangman(08:18)

I know, Rooster.You know the saying in Texas?

Rooster(08:19)

No,what is it?

Hangman(08:20)

"When you're in a hole, stop digging."

Rooster(08:22)

Well, we’re knee-deep in this hole, Jake. Gotta keep digging until we strike gold.

Did you talk to the others yet?

Rooster(08:28)

Not yet. I’ll check on them later.

Rooster nodded to himself, about to keep on his reply when he heard a knock on the door. He knew those knocks, “Come in.”

McAllister’s head popped in and he glanced at the reports scattered across Rooster's desk. "Any breakthrough, sir?"

Rooster sighed, leaning back in his chair. "Not yet. It's like someone covered his tracks too well. We need something concrete, something undeniable."

"I understand your frustration, sir. I-I tried getting more info from the other recruits and um,well they are saying the same thing."

Rooster rubbed his temples, feeling the onset of a headache punching his skull. "You watch movies that deal with this shit and they manage to figure it out in hours." he mutters and the young recruit just stands there,hands behind his back, “Besides your talks, anything else?”

The young recruit hesitated for a moment before speaking. "Um, sir, there's something... peculiar. I overheard some of the mechanics talking in the hangar. They mentioned that Mark's jet had some unscheduled maintenance recently. It wasn't logged in the usual records, and they seemed pretty hush-hush about it."

Rooster's eyes narrowed, a spark of interest igniting in the midst of his frustration. "Unscheduled maintenance? That's not something you keep under wraps. Especially with a Vice-Admiral on board…”

McAllister shifted uncomfortably. "Exactly, sir. It seemed... off. Like they were trying to fix something without drawing attention."

Rooster leaned forward, his hands clenching into fists on the desk. "Who worked on the jet do you know?”

“W-Well,it was Faraday who commented it–”

“Faraday?...bring him over.”

McAllister nodded, "Y-Yes, sir. I'll fetch Faraday right away."

As the young recruit hurried out of the room, Rooster's mind raced with possibilities. The mention of unscheduled maintenance on Mark's jet was a potential lead, a crack in the meticulously constructed facade. If there was something to be found, it might lie within the details of that maintenance.

Doesn’t take too long for the door to open again  and Faraday enter the room with a cautious expression, glancing between Rooster and the scattered reports on the desk. "You wanted to see me, sir?"

Rooster nodded, gesturing for Faraday to take a seat. "At ease, Faraday. I heard you had a conversation in the hangar about Mark's jet. Care to share what you know?"

Faraday shifted uncomfortably in his seat, clearly hesitant to divulge information. "Well, sir, it's just... there was some talk among the mechanics about Mark's jet having some unscheduled maintenance. But you know how it is, sir, rumors and all that."

Rooster leaned forward, his gaze piercing through Faraday. "I need more than just rumors, Faraday. Was there anything specific mentioned during this... conversation in the hangar?"

“Uhhh…” the younger pilot scratches his head, “I’m tryin’ to think sir…”

“Take your time,I’m in no hurry.”

Faraday took a deep breath, racking his brain for details. "Well, sir, they did mention that the maintenance was unusual. Like, not the regular checks and fixes. They were talking about something being off, but nobody had concrete details."

 "Anything specific about what was off? Any details on what they were fixing?"

Faraday hesitated once more, pursing his lips. "They didn't say exactly what, sir. Just that it was something they hadn't encountered before. And, well, they were keeping it on the down-low, not logging it in the usual records."

Rooster leaned back in his chair, contemplating the information. "Unusual maintenance, not in the records. That's worth looking into. Who specifically worked on Mark's jet?"

Faraday took a moment before responding. "Well, sir, it was mostly Chief Petty Officer Daniels overseeing the maintenance. He's been handling the jets for quite some time, and he's good at what he does."

Rooster nodded, absorbing the details. "Chief Daniels. Alright, Faraday. Thank you for sharing. You're dismissed."

“Sir?”

“Yes?”

Faraday blinks at him, “...it’s kinda crazy what’s been happening…”

Rooster sighed, a heavy weight on his shoulders. "Yeah, it is. These are the times when you realize the Navy life comes with its…uh…own set of challenges beyond the missions and drills."

Faraday nodded, furrowing his brows a bit. "I signed up for flying jets, not getting caught up in all this drama."

Rooster chuckled, a brief moment of levity in the midst of the tension. "Well, Faraday, life has a funny way of throwing you curveballs. But don't worry, we'll get through this. Now, get back to your duties. If anything else comes up, let me know."

Faraday saluted, giving him a small smile. "Yes, sir. I'll keep my ears open."

As Faraday left the room, Rooster's mind began to churn with possibilities. The mention of Chief Daniels overseeing the unusual maintenance raised questions. Why would they keep it off the records? What was being hidden? Rooster knew he needed to tread carefully; a misstep could jeopardize the entire investigation.

He pulled out his phone and sent a message to Hangman:

Chief Daniels oversaw the unscheduled maintenance on Mark's jet. Not in the records. Something fishy. Need to approach this carefully.

Hangman(09:08)

Understood. Keep me posted.

Rooster leaned back in his chair, his mind working through the puzzle. If there was a connection between Mark's jet and the breach, this could be the breakthrough they needed. But he also knew that navigating the intricacies of Navy protocol and hierarchy required finesse.

A lot of it.

Honestly he was kinda glad Mav wasn’t here, he’d hate this.

Rooster decided to pay a visit to Chief Daniels. He needed to gather more information, understand the details of the maintenance, and assess if Daniels was willingly involved or just a pawn in a larger game.

Leaving his office, Rooster headed towards the hangar, the familiar sounds of jets and machinery filling the air. As he approached, he spotted Chief Daniels working on one of the aircraft, back to him. Rooster approached, waiting for a moment when Daniels wasn't engrossed in his work.

Finally, as Daniels took a step back to survey his work, Rooster seized the opportunity. "Chief Daniels."

The Chief looked up, a mix of surprise and respect in his eyes. "Lt Bradshaw, sir. To what do I owe the pleasure?"

Rooster gestured towards a more secluded area, away from the prying eyes and ears. "Can we have a word, Chief?"

Chief Daniels followed Rooster to a quieter corner of the hangar, away from the hustle and bustle. The air was filled with the scent of aviation fuel,and Rooster wasted no time getting to the point. "Chief, I've been informed about some unscheduled maintenance on Mark's jet. Can you shed some light on that?"

"Lt Bradshaw, sir, I assure you, it was routine maintenance. Nothing to be concerned about."

Rooster maintained a steady gaze. "Routine maintenance doesn't get kept off the records, Chief. And it doesn't raise eyebrows among the mechanics. So, I need the truth."

Chief Daniels sighed, a subtle bead of sweat forming on his forehead. He glanced around, ensuring no one was within earshot before speaking in a hushed tone. "Look, Lt Bradshaw, sir, there are things that aren't always in the manuals, you know? Unofficial procedures to keep the birds in top shape."

Rooster crossed his arms, his expression serious. "I understand the need for unofficial procedures, Chief. But this is different. The maintenance you oversaw is directly connected to an ongoing investigation. I need to know what was done and why it wasn't documented properly."

Chief Daniels shifted uncomfortably, choosing his words carefully. "Sir, I'm just following orders. Mark personally asked me to take care of a few modifications. He said it was hush-hush, confidential stuff. I was just doing my job."

"Modifications? What kind of modifications? And why the secrecy?"

The Chief hesitated, a conflict evident in his eyes. "I...I can't go into details, sir. All I know is that it had to do with the jet's systems, some upgrades. Mark said it was a matter of national security, and he didn't want any paperwork or digital trails leading back to it."

Motherfucker.

Rooster's mind raced, connecting the dots. "National security? Chief, we need transparency in the squadron. Keeping things off the records compromises the chain of command and the integrity of our operations. You understand that, right?"

Chief Daniels nodded, wringing his hands together. "I do, sir. But when a superior officer gives you a direct order, you follow it. I didn't question Mark's intentions; I trusted his judgment. And now, with all this investigation business, it feels like I've been caught in the crossfire."

Rooster sighed, recognizing the predicament Chief Daniels found himself in. "I get it, Chief. But… I need your full cooperation in this investigation. If Mark's actions compromised the squadron or the Navy, we need to know. I need to know"

"I'll cooperate, sir. I didn't sign up for this mess, but I won't let it tarnish my commitment to the Navy."

"Good," Rooster said. "We'll work through this together. Now, what can you tell me about those modifications?"

Chief Daniels took a deep breath, glancing around once more to ensure their conversation remained private. He leaned in slightly, his voice barely above a whisper. "The modifications were focused on the jet's communication systems and data transmission. Mark wanted to enhance the encryption and secure channels for transmitting sensitive information during missions. He said it was a precautionary measure given the nature of some upcoming assignments."

Rooster's eyes narrowed, the weight of the situation sinking in. "Upcoming assignments? What was Mark preparing for?"

Chief Daniels hesitated, his gaze shifting as if debating how much information to disclose. "I wasn't given specific details, sir. Just that the squadron might be involved in operations requiring top-tier security measures. Mark mentioned something about intelligence gathering and covert missions."

“When did Mark first asked you to do that?”

“Uhhh…around the time you all found that wreckage sir.”

Mother.

FUCKER!

Rooster inhales his anger, a quirk of an unamused smile on his face “I see.” he clears his throat, “Anything else you think I should know?”

Chief Daniels shifted uncomfortably, choosing his words carefully, scratching the back of his neck. "That's all I know, sir. I followed Mark's orders, and the modifications were completed a few days ago. As far as I'm concerned, it was all in the line of duty. I didn't question it further."

Rooster nodded, absorbing the information. "Thank you for being honest, Chief. I'll need you to provide a detailed report on the modifications and anything else Mark instructed you to do. Got it?"

"I'll do that, sir. Whatever it takes to clear my name and ensure the squadron's reputation stays intact."

“Good.” he looked over at the horizon, the skies turning black.

A storm was coming.

Japanese vs. English Todoroki - A 302 Comparison Pt. 2

With volume 31 coming out tomorrow, we now got these leaked panels that have been added to chapter 302 and will be included in the volume release. And because we’re all impatient, I decided to already do a translation for them and talk a bit about these panels. If you haven’t already, you can read my translation comparison for the whole chapter here, which I wrote after the chapter originally came out, so this is gonna serve as the continuation of it with only the new lines included and explained.

First of all, we get these panels:

「ねえ。今何が見えてるの。その目をやめて。その目をやめて。その目をやめて」

「ねえ ; nee 」-> hey

「今 ; ima 」-> now

「何 ; nani 」-> what

「が ; ga 」-> subject marker particle

「見えてる ; mieteru 」-> can see

「の ; no 」-> question marker particle seeking an explanation

「その ; sono 」-> that

「目 ; me 」-> look; stare; gaze

「を ; o 」-> direct object marker

「やめて ; yamete 」-> stop

= “Hey, what can you see? Stop that stare. Stop that stare. Stop that stare.”

This is an incredible addition - maybe Horikoshi read @transhawks meta on the importance of eyes in the Todoroki family and felt inspired to go back and add even more of that into the chapter.

I believe those panels will be included towards the end of the argument between Touya and Rei; at least considering the Touya panel is from that scene and would explain the panel that originally followed showing Rei, more importantly, her eyes -

These new panels seem to explain why seeing Touya stare at her intensely like that terrified her so much. It’s clearer now - although it should’ve been clear before already but obviously, Horikoshi knows his audience - that her near-mental-breakdown-expressions when looking at Touya or when looking at Shouto during the accident, are all triggered due to the abuse she was facing, with those eyes reminding her of Endeavor, her abuser. Again: No, she was not suffering due to the devil incarnate Touya, as some would like to claim. This is all the result of years of abuse and the stare is what triggers her fight or flight response the most.

Next, we get this part (picture on the left is the volume release; picture on the right the original version):

「私じゃ止められない」

「私 ; watashi 」-> I

「じゃ ; ja 」-> topic marker particle

「止められない ; tomerarenai 」-> cannot stop

= “I can’t stop.”

While Rei’s line is the same as before, referring to the fact that she can’t stop Touya from going training and holding on to his desire to become a hero, the panel is completely different. While before we only got a glance of her eye (as seen in the highlighted section in the right picture), which already showed us that she was crying and absolutely terrified - this time we see her whole face, which emphasizes that terrified feeling even further. What’s more important, though, is that Horikoshi added a panel and line for Endeavor right after:

「おまえ��やれ！俺は見ない！！」

「おまえ ; omae 」-> you

「が ; ga 」-> subject marker

「やれ ; yare 」-> to do (imperative form)

「俺 ; ore 」-> I

「は ; wa 」-> topic marker particle

「見ない ; minai 」-> won’t watch

= “You, do it! I won’t watch!!”

As simple of a line as this seems to be, I’ve been thinking about the meaning of it all day. First of all, it’s important to note that Japanese doesn’t exactly have a present tense, but rather a non-past tense (there is also a present progressive tense to indicate something happening/being done right now). The non-past tense can be used for the present and the future so minai can mean “don’t watch” or “won’t watch” depending on the context.

So I’ve been thinking - going back to the whole eye theme, we also have Touya say “watch me” over and over again, even now as Dabi, he continues to tell his family to watch him. He tells them because he doesn’t feel seen. Endeavor even told Rei (in the original version already) that she shouldn't take her eyes off Touya and that he hired someone to help out because he was too busy with work. Even when Rei told him that Touya just wants Endeavor to see him, Endeavor’s response to this is that he can only show him the world of heroes. With that in mind, this line now not only shows that he can't see him, but that he won't. That’s why he tells Rei “do it!” after she tells him she can’t stop Touya. Endeavor won’t allow her to give up. She has to do it because he won’t. He outright refuses to watch Touya despite being asked to on multiple occasions.

Moving on to the present and the family discussing their situation we get this small change here:

「。。。あなたは行かなかった」

「あなた ; anata 」-> you

「は ; wa 」-> topic marker particle

「行かなかった ; inakatta 」-> didn’t go

= “...you didn’t go.”

The only difference between this line then and now is that it leaves out そして (= and then) at the beginning of the phrase.

And finally, the change we all knew was coming is the timeline error that was in the original version of the chapter, where Rei was saying that Touya disappeared before she was hospitalized. As announced by the official bnha Twitter account shortly after the chapter first came out, the timeline as stated by Fuyumi in chapter 250 is the correct one. So now in the volume release, we get this line:

「私は病院に隔離されそして燈矢の事を聞いた。。。完全に心が壊れてしまった。。。」

「私 ; watashi 」-> I

「は ; wa 」-> topic marker particle

「病院 ; byouin 」-> hospital

「に ; ni 」-> at

「隔離され ; kakuri sare 」-> to be isolated

「そして ; soshite 」-> and then

「燈矢 ; touya 」-> Touya

「�� ; no 」-> possessive particle; similar to an apostrophe

「事 ; koto 」-> incident

「を ; o 」-> direct object marker

「聞いた ; kiita 」-> heard

「完全に ; kanzen ni 」-> completely

「心 ; kokoro 」-> heart

「が ; ga 」-> subject marker particle

「壊れてしまった ; kowareteshimatta 」-> was regrettably broken (壊れる+しまう)

= “I was isolated at the hospital and heard about Touya’s incident… my heart broke completely.”

As mentioned before, a verb + shimau means either that something has happened completely or regrettably and since the word completely already appeared in the phrase it’s obvious that this is something regrettable (if it wasn’t obvious from the content of the phrase); showing that losing her son and not having been around him at the end really hurt and probably even made her blame herself for not having been able to save her own son.

And I’m assuming it will replace this highlighted panel:

Aside from getting the timeline error fixed, we get some additional panels and lines that highlight even further just how terrifying it was to live with Endeavor and that Rei’s breakdown was caused by him and not one of her kids. The state the family is in right now and the whole Dabi situation - all of that is a result of a selfish man who couldn’t even be bothered to look at his own child; whose own insecurities made his whole family suffer and continue to do so even now. It was the terror in his eyes and his inability to use those eyes to just see his kid that got them to where they are now, which additionally shows exactly what needs to be done to fix this mess: for them to finally see Touya.

i think sometimes people forget that like. dirk gently is Highly Educated. he went to fucking cambridge. in the books he talks about quantum theory and probability waveforms. you hear the words he uses, especially at the end of S2E9 when he’s panicking. dirk is really fucking smart

i am convinced the shark-kitten would’ve come back in a later season. she’s just roaming the forest, she isn’t actually dead. not to mention she’s technically a shark, so anything that tries to fuck w her with get bit in half. it would be a perfect detail to let the audience not-quite-forget-but-assume-gone, and then bring back in a totally unexpected coincidence. would’ve liked to see that

dirk really told todd, with complete honesty, that todd was the first person who had actually wanted him around. that’s insane. this man is in his 30s, has been to at least two countries (though knowing the transit system in europe it’s probably more), and seems like the kind of person who just talks to people. he loves people, you can see it in the way he interacts with almost every person they meet, so to have that admiration constantly dismissed or rejected for 30 years ?? the life we see only glimpses of throughout the first season, his life before he finds out about todd, makes so much sense and it’s heartbreaking

hi and hello back!! this is so sweet of you really <33 (yes I'm lost for words and have to resort to punctuation mark hearts)

I'm doing well, two of my shows are back, I watched the netflix one over the weekend and then I have the other show to look forward to every week :) besides my thesis work obviously which is starting properly now, the writing bits and the main experiment phase. it's going smoothly I'd say compared to what I've heard of the previous batch 😬 I'm lucky all our educational institutes made vaccinations mandatory so even if we do go on lockdown for a bit, I'll hopefully be able to do my lab work anyway because it's only a few students and there's like 5 labs in my department so it shouldn't be an issue.

how did analyzing data from your bedroom go?? I do not envy you at ALL. I think stats is just. the bane of my existence. like I've studied what's required in my field. but I just. immediately forget after my exams😬😅 I'm really nervous and not trying to think of it and enjoy the writing bit which is more up my street.

Digital Divide and Digital Equity

Most people have no idea what digital divide and digital equity even is. At least I did not know what they were until now, so I will start be defining them to give a better understanding! Digital divide refers to the division or gap between two different societies-- underprivileged individuals who do not have excessive access to computers/the internet and the upper-middle class whom do have access to computers and/or the internet. Digital divide is an interesting concept, many individuals do not necessarily know that it is a thing; but this concept is very important. In my words, digital divide is the line drawn between the lower class and the upper class, in terms of technology opportunities. The gap is clear and is important to understand what the costs of this divide could be. With our technology world advancing each and every day, this gap continues to expand. The upperclass is continuing to grow with the expanding technology world but the lower-class continues to fall behind as it expands. There are many different factors that can contribute to digital divide, those being income, education, race, and class. 

Digital equity refers to the equal access or the opportunity to all things digital-- the tools, resources, services that contribute to an individual’s digital skills and their digital knowledge (2007). I think that this is an important concept and I would describe digital equity as equal access to technology to advance our digital skills. This term is important because our society is constantly growing in the technology industry, so having equal access to advance our digital skills is very important. Digital divide and digital equity are separate terms but are important for one another. When there is a lack of digital equity in underprivileged areas, then the digital divide is seen. As a society, we need to push through digital divide to be able to achieve full digital equity (Schwieger, 2014). I think that this statement is very important, we need to focus on the digital divide of our society to ensure that we can accomplish digital equity. Digital divide refers to access to technology but also access to information, important connections, relationships, the economy and to our societies. With that being said, the digital divide is important to understand when finding a solution for digital equity. 

Both of these terms are very important to comprehend. As someone that did not know much about these terms, I think that being educated on them is important because if we aren’t then how will the problems get solved? The problems will not be able to be solved without help and lots of effort to ensure that the digital divide is minimized to obtain digital equity in all societies. Solutions to digital divide are very important and mobile networks are not going to be able to solely make the issue go away (2019).

There are many issues that could arise with the digital divide and our society lacking digital equity. All people should be able to have access to the internet and technology, but this is just not the case. Without having access to the internet, individuals are unable to participate in our society, their own community, in democracy, in the economy, make connections or just for fun-- which is a major problem in our world today (Lorenzsonn, 2017). Our society today and not having access to the internet, limits all the abilities listed above. People are unable to do many things, since our society relies on technology and the internet immensely. The internet is a major source to turn to when looking for a job or even making connections to get a job offer. The people on the wrong side of the digital divide are already having education and financial issues but with limited access to the internet, they are at an even higher disadvantage. I think that it is important to focus on the issues associated with the digital divide and come to a solution to bring about digital equity. Everyone should have a fair advantage when it comes to internet and technology access.

392. Phyllis George hosting the CBS Morning News

So you know the morning show on CBS is mostly drama free, save for when Charlie Rose was fired for being a perv a while back. It’s been pretty consistent with (aunt) Gayle King hosting. This is the first time in 30+ years that the show has been consistent. 

Way back in the early 1980s, the morning show as hosted by Diane Sawyer and Bill Kurtis. (clip from 1981/1982-ish -- I’m living for that intro) Bill Kurtis is the guy who did the voiceovers for those crime shows that A&E used to show at nauseam in the mornings back in the late 2000s. What was the show, American Justice? If you’re into crime programming, you know him from that. If you live in Chicago, you know him as the long time newscaster for the CBS station there. In 1984, Diane grew tired of the morning beat and moved to 60 Minutes. Bill stayed, thinking that Meredith Viera or Jane Wallace was going to be the next host. 

Nop. Former Miss America, former first lady of Kentucky, and former NFL Today co host, Phyllis George. She was chosen by CBS Executives with a leader who was in the advertising business, and not in the journalism business. 1 Drama instantly began. Richard Salant, former President of CBS News said upon her hiring, “I am heartbroken. [...] put the show in the Entertainment Division, or the Record or the Toy Division, but get it out of news.” 2 He had a point, the lady had no journalism experience. 

(this is a clip from October of 1984--when CBS was trying out several women to to see who would replace Diane Sawyer, as you can see, Phyllis was one of the women who auditioned. This was in the old ‘newsy” format.) 

The new show began in January of 1985, during the soft chit-chat at the beginning of the show, Phyllis asked Bill if he wanted to hear about her troubles moving to New York. He said no. Dang. 3

Things didn’t improve. One time Phyllis wanted John Candy on the show:

Welp, it all came crashing down come May. In Illinois, Gary Dotson had been released from prison, after being there for eight years for a rape he did not commit. The accuser, Cathleen Mae Webb had become a born again Christian and had recanted her accusation from 1977.  The press had a field day with this and the big three networks were all trying to chase the two down in New York City for an interview during their morning shows. 4 On May 15, 1985 the two sat down to all three shows i one morning, Today first, second rated Good Morning America second and scrappy ass CBS Morning News was third. Seriously, Cathleen and Gary’s interview was around the final 10.15 minutes of the show. So, they’re siting down with Phyllis, the interview starts:

I don’t have a transcript, the interview is not online anywhere, but I’ve read in articles that she also said this:

"I read this morning that you've had 41 television offers to put this into a movie. Is that right? Do you feel like a celebrity?" [She had a big grin on her face through all of this.] When Dotson said he'd had "offers" of jobs, now that he is out of prison, George jovially asked, "Starring in your own movie?", apparently thinking he meant that kind of offer. Said Dotson, "No." 5

  ....HOWBOUTTAHUG?!

The switchboards lit up with complaints. I know it was a stupid choice of words, but I can’t believe that people called in, but 20 people in the Washington D.C. area did. 5 I don’t see anywhere where she apologized on the show the next day.

By June 7th, Bill Kurtis had left the show, to return to Chicago. Bob Schieffer was recruited in to help the show. At first, he didn’t want to do it. He thought, “Oh shit, not the morning news again.”  He only took the job because his pay doubled, and he was just going to be the temporary guy. Bob mentioned in his book This Just in: what I couldn’t tell you on TV  that Phyllis seemed to make less mistakes through the Summer. Bob also mentions that since he didn’t want the job, he would waltz into work calm around 6am. 6 My boy Bob didn’t give a...

However, on her days off, Maria Shriver filled in. That was probably the next to last nail in the coffin for her days at CBS. Maria was so much better. Here’s a clip of Bob and Maria when Bob spills coffee on her foot. See, I told you he didn’t care. 

The ultimate nail, however was the realization that celebrities wouldn’t come on the show because they didn’t want Phyllis interviewing them. 3 On the Friday before labor day, calls were made, deals were made and Phyllis was off the air. Of course, the press release said that she decided to leave the show because she was tired and wanted to return to Kentucky. 7 Upon learning of her departure, someone who worked on the show ceremoniously threw away a set of tapes of “famous couples” interviews that Phyllis had done that had not aired yet, and said, “they’ll never run.” 3

Varian wandered silently through the market. He had gotten everything on his list. “Good, now I can hopefully make that solution...hopefully..” He said with a nervous chuckle. He looked up briefly before returning to his list but something had caught his eye making his head shoot back up.  He felt his eyes widen and mouth go agape. his list fell out of his hands and fluttered to the ground. “C-Cassie!?” He said the shock evident in his voice.

“Oh no no no no...” Varian said as he paced back and fourth looking out through the window as it was assulted with rain. Looking down at his cell phone he dialed the girls number. It rang a few times before he heard the sound of it being picked up. Before the person could say a word he let his panic out. “Help! Girls! I messed up! Isaiah came home late so we got in an argument and I accidentally said ‘what would your mother think’ and he left! he’s not answering his phone i’m worried sick!”

The forest was dark and noises sprang up all around Isaiah. He just wanted to go exploring. not to get lost. Isaiah whimpered as he heard a howl a little ways off from him. It was starting to get dark. His daddy would be looking for him. The overgrown brambles tugged at his clothes and scratched at his skin drawing some blood in the process.  “Daddy?” He called out. when he received no response his lip quivered. “Daaaddy?” He tried again. Suddenly from behind him he heard the heavy crunching and clink of metal armor against leaves and twigs. His daddy never wore armor. Isaiah let out a panicked audible whimper and bolted in the opposite direction. He dashed into the woods and hopped over a small stream. he heard the footsteps following and he screamed as he ran. a bramble caught his sock sending him harshly to the ground and scuffing his knee. Feeling cornered and helpless Isaiah finally sobbed out. “DAAADDDDYYY!!!”

Isaiah sat on top of the old wooden roof of his family barn. He still remembers the day when he was little that he first climbed up here. Of course his father had a conniption that his “baby” was on a roof and of course he did fall off but his fall was cushioned by a bale of hay. Ever since then he came up here to be alone or when the orchard was occupied.  His toffee blonde hair swayed in the breeze as he over looked Old Corona. He sniffled and stroked his pet cobra that rested delicately upon his shoulders. Being lost in thought Isaiah hadn’t noticed the brunette come up behind him.

365 Creative Challenge

2020 has been a hell of a ride. But I want to try something different for 2021. I want to get back to my creative roots. I used to write all the time, I wanna get back in that habit.

So, here’s the idea:

I have created 365 (and then some) prompts for me in 2021. The aim is, each day I will pick one at random (except 1. and 365) and I will do something creative with that prompt.

Coronavirus Update - Delhi's Food, Night Shelters On Google Maps Now: How To Locate Them

The move will ensure easy access to the food and night shelters, said Arvind Kejriwal.

New Delhi:

The Delhi government’s over 1,000 food distribution centres and night shelters for the needy affected by the nationwide lockdown can now be located on Google Maps and Map My India.

Welcoming the collaboration, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday tweeted, “As we prepare for an extended lockdown, we are proud to work together with @GoogleIndia Maps in ensuring easy accessibility of all our food and night shelters. We are committed to do everything possible to make life easy for those most affected by the lockdown.”

The city government had announced relief measures for the people whose livelihood means were affected by the lockdown imposed to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

It had initially opened all 223 night shelters run by the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board for providing food and shelter to the affected people in the city.

Later, the government started over 1,500 free food distribution centres along with temporary shelters for migrant workers who were trying to leave the city for their native states.

“The AAP-led Delhi government, with the support of a team of volunteers and researchers, mapped all such relief shelters. The government has partnered with Google to display the locations of 1,047 food and night shelters initially on Google Maps, with more being added every day,” the government said in a statement. Anyone can now easily search for their nearest Delhi government food centre on Google Maps application by typing in ”food shelters near me” in the search box, it said.

“Food and night shelters can now be found in #Delhi and 32 other cities to help those in need. Please spread the word and help this message reach them,” Google India said in a statement on Twitter.

The government has also partnered with Map My India and these locations are available on Map My India’s COVID 19 guide at ”maps.mapmyindia.com/corona” and Move application, the statement added.

I love the way this is phrased to make ‘underage zutara’ sound like a dirty word, as if a) all canon-based zutara fics are nothing but sex/smut, and b) there’s something wrong with someone (particularly, in this case, a teenager) reading (or writing) the ones that are.

Just for this anon’s edification: there are 3711 zutara fanfics on ao3 right now. Of those, only 302 are rated ‘Explicit’. Of those, only 31 are marked ‘Underage’ from the archive warnings. While that may not be the exact number--there are roughly 100 E-rated fics that have ‘Creator Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings’, which could contain other E-rated underage fics--even if you double it, it’s still much less than a third of the explicit zutara fics, and at that it’s still less than 2% of all zutara fics on ao3. Explicit fics as a whole only make up 8% of all zutara fics, and given that there are 97 zutara works marked underage (less than a third of which are Explicit--underage can cover things like drinking, violence, and other mature things that may not necessarily be sexual but do warrant a more mature rating and warnings), not anywhere close to all works where the characters are underage are sexually explicit.

So there are a lot of options for readers who want to read fics set during the canon timeline (there are a lot of fics that may not even be marked underage bc they’re set in the canon timeline and only deal with canon-typical things that don’t need to be warned for), whether or not they want to read smut.

That said, Dee is allowed to read whatever the fuck she wants. She’s perfectly capable of reading tags, summaries, and warning labels to decide if the content in the fic is something she’s comfortable with consuming. If she prefers to read fics set in canon--because she prefers to read about teenagers, and hey, that’s how the entire YA genre operates, stories written about teenagers and for teenagers, even though in terms of officially published YA it is almost all written by adults--then that’s her prerogative, and being a dick in her inbox about it doesn’t do anything but make you look like an asshat.

Lol this ask is so loaded, but I’m not doing discourse. What I do have to say is that I’m sixteen, and sometimes we read and write stuff we relate to. I love canon-divergence, in which Zuko and Katara are young teens that make mistakes, because I’m a young teen that makes mistakes. Honestly, I don’t really understand what you’re trying to get at? Older, post-canon Zutara fics written by adults, who constitute the majority of this fandom, have more mature ZK who they relate to :D. Fandom is about finding our place, so I think that’s super cool!
