Cedar Rapids- 10 years, altered male, 24lbs

10-year-old happy senior boy, Cedar, was brought in as a stray. Despite winding up in the shelter, Cedar has been a friendly, affectionate boy who is quite spry for his age. He loves to go for walks, romp around the play yard, and snuggle.

When tested off-leash in the shelter's play yard, Cedar was a bit tense around other dogs his size, but eventually loosened up and had brief moments of bouncy play. He did show potential guarding behavior over the water bowl (growling and snapping when another dog approached), but no contact was made and they were easily steered apart with verbal and spatial pressure.

Upon examination, our vets noted that Cedar has grade 2/4 periodontal disease with profuse dental wear and staining, as well as quite a bit of matting. A full groom and dental cleaning are recommended within the next year, and a full medical summary can be provided upon request.

Cedar will be available for rescue pick-up after 3/28, and due to his age, we'd love to secure placement for him ASAP.
