Something that I think we've all forgotten in the persona fandom (or at least i haven't seennon ao3 or ff) is that Ken is in the right age range for P5. Like he could be a senior with Haru and Makoto. The perfect in for a P3/P5 crossover. Ken and Koromaru just having flashbacks to P3 Minato in high school. Maybe he finds mementos on his own, runs into them and goes "Look, none of you know what you're doing, imma call Aigis. Koromaru, don't let them move." As he walks off to call someone while in Mementos.
#persona 5#persona 5 royal#persona 3#persona 3 x persona 5#ken amada#koromaru#ken and koro-chan#Aigis aggressively barges in to the Velvet Room and demands to see Elizabeth#Junpei replaces Kamoshida and just embarrasses Ken cause the kid is practically his little brother#Ken just complains to Naoto over the phone about this guy claiming to be the new detective prince#cause somehow he made friends with her and Kenji out of everyone on the P4 crew

very funny to me how i have all my p3 knowledge from fanfiction and other spoilers so i know that, like, makoto/kotone dies at the end of the game but i have no idea what happens between april and june. or between june and october-
#puppy rambles#persona 3#p3#persona 3 spoilers#all i know about june is that that's when aigis shows up hgggbgjfhcfx-#my knowledge is specifically from aikoto/hamugis fanfics. if that wasn't obvious-#i'll probably play p3 soonish my friend offered to buy reload for me once i'm done with p4#p4 will eternally have me in a vice grip though i think. p3 was my first love but p4 is. *chef's kiss* masterpiece#i think the fact it's more lighthearted helps. i like darker stuff but also i can only indulge in it so much-#and i mean. p3 has lighthearted moments too. but it's def the darkest of the newsona games at least idk on oldsona#all i know is that p2 will probably emotionally destroy me when i eventually play it!!!!!! so. yippee 🥳#genuinely though what happens between aigis showing up and shinjiro dying hggchvuhyctd-#i mean i think ken and koromaru join sees at some point in there??? probably??? idk#aigis my beloved. she deserves to be happy with her boyfriend and girlfriend GIVE THE TOASTER HER DOORS DAMMIT#i know it contradicts canon but i headcanon that makoto and kotone 1) both survive the car crash#and 2) get to come back to life like. a year or so after the game idk. whatever time period would allow them to participate in p4au's events#... idk what happened in these tags-

The SEES sexuality (plus a bonus)
To break up the persona 2 content and feed my persona 3 fans, have some thoughts on the SEES’ sexualities. Excluding ken, of course, and koromaru lol.
Yukari Takeba
Possibly a hot take for the p3 fans, but Yukari...isn’t my cup of tea. So, I don’t tend to comb over her character the same way I do Minato lol. So, the only real thing I have to go on for her sexuality is vibes, and the movies to say that she seems like she’s a bit of a man-hating lesbian type. Maybe she doesn’t know it, but she’s got that vibe to me.
Mitsuru Kirijo
Mitsuru vibes like she’s got too many gender issues to be dealing with sexuality too, but I think she vibes like she, like Yukari, likes women more than men. But, she also vibes to me like she doesn’t exactly look to date, maybe is some flavor of asexual and/or aromantic.
Akihiko Sanada
Akihiko is so fuckin’ gay. Namely for Shinji, but he doesn’t seem to show any interest in women in general in my opinion. I mean, he’s got a whole fan club that he seems to avoid more than anything, and while part of that is his tunnel vision on fighting shadows and protecting his friends, him and Shinjiro definitely have somethin’ more there lol. So, I think Akihiko is pretty solidly gay. At least for the most part, I’ll give him some bisexual wiggle room with Kotone.
Fuuka Yamagishi
Fuuka is a weird one. Like Yukari, she doesn’t really spark a lot of combing through and picking apart, but she also doesn’t give any strong energy. I can see her going either way, being hetero, or being bi, or maybe even having no real interest in relationships. But, if I had to chew on it, I’d say she’s maybe bisexual, or lesbian. She seems to have a fat ass crush on her best friend, but I wouldn’t be surprised if she got flustered about Aki being shirtless, or seeing Shinjiro being a sweetie.
Minato Arisato
This is gonna be another slightly heated one, but I think Minato is pretty firmly gay, or maybe grey-ace or some level of aromantic. Because in the game, his relationship with men seems just...so much more intimate. Like, Kenji gave him a damned choker, and Hidetoshi refused to frame him for power. Mans gave up his life goal to protect Minato. Something’s there. In contrast, his bonds with the women, while not stiff, don’t feel like they develop natural chemistry. Plus, in the movies, I just never got the vibe that he liked damn near anyone outside of Ryoji. So, I can’t really see him liking women almost at all. He’s either grey-ace, gay, or ryoji-sexual to me lol.
Shinji Aragaki
Shinji strikes me pretty strongly as unbothered by relationships. He doesn’t seem very interested in dating, since...well, y’know, his personal shit. That being said, he does strike me as pretty firmly bisexual. He has no real desire for a relationship, but he’d sleep with a woman or a man, Aki or Kotone, doesn’t really matter to him.
Aigis
I don’t think Aigis’ asexual like some might assume because she’s a robot. After all, she ends up basically growing a proper sense of self/a soul in the game, so she’s pretty well human. But! I do see her as demisexual and biromantic. She takes emotional connection to develop any sexual feelings, but either gender can get her romantic attraction.
Ryoji Mochizuki
There’s no competition. Ryoji is aggressively bisexual. He’s not choosing shit, he wants both lol.
Junpei Iori
I think Junpei is heterosexual, but bi-curious. Because, naturally, he seems very interested in women, but he seems to have a big ol’ crush on Akihiko, and maybe Minato. Would this grow into a proper bisexuality? No clue, but let’s be serious, we all know it doesn’t matter.

so my theater teacher was playing the lightning thief musical sountrack in class and it gave me an idea.
persona 3 x percy jackson but somethings up.
kotone and makoto take the place of percy, they're the twin children of poseidon. don't mention how they both seem fond of the myth of orpheus and eurydice.
junpei is a son of hermes who doesn't seem to trust luke. don't mention how many times he's almost said trismegistus instead of hermes.
yukari is a daughter of aphrodite who often butts heads with her own siblings. don't mention how she feels closer to isis than she does to her own mother.
fuuka is a daughter of athena who's never really seen outside of campfire time. don't mention how she feels a call to juno, not during this time of hatred between greeks and romans.
akihiko is a son of ares who sides with the twins during clarisse's welcome "ceremony". don't mention how he whispers caesar before each fight.
mitsuru is a daughter of hecate who commands battles as though she's a daughter of ares instead. don't mention how she searches all she can about information over artemisia.
aigis takes the place of annabeth, daughter of athena. don't mention how she feels as though something should come when she says her own mother's name.
ken is a son of nemesis who doesn't feel as vengeful as he feels his mother would like. don't mention how he feels much safer under the protection of kala-nemi than other gods.
shinjiro is an unclaimed son who wanders around the camp with koromaru in tow. don't mention how he feels like castor, not truly feeling like a half-blood.
chidori is a daughter of hypnos who claims to be on luke's side. don't mention how the longer she stays, the more she feels like medea.
don't mention the extra hour in the day, don't mention the room beyond dream and reality, don't mention how mechanical aigis looks, don't mention how shinjiro and ken wander off from camp during the night, don't mention anything at all. don't mention.
who knew they'd all grow close enough to be friends?

🍁˖࿐ Fall for You - Akihiko Sanada
╰┈➤ Autumn Date with none other than the protein inhaler himself! Genre: Fluff!! Any gender! Waiter's Notes: My part for my LOVELY blue period enjoyer moot's Halloween/Autumn Event! @nian-7 <3 Cafe music now playing: Warm Feeling (P3P OST)
Autumn, the season of the year. Trees painted with a warm palette, weather perfect for dressing up, girls rushing to get the signature fall starbucks drink and the dried leaves build up like the feelings within you. The one that bloomed at spring when sakuras fluttered and flourished in the summer when you all had a vacation near the beach
The school bell rung, signifying the dismissal of classes for the day. The girls at the other side of the class rushed to their friends, talking about getting the Pumpkin spice latte or something along those lines. You didnt really get the appeal but maybe you should invite Yukari or Fuuka to go try it out sometime? you pondered as you close your books and carry your bag out the classroom and down the stairs where you find the familiar silver head
''Heyy'' you greet him, stepping down the last steps ''[Name]? Whats up?'' ''Wanna go check out the shrine? i wanna see the orange leaves there, i bet its pretty'' you suggest ''Hm? Alright lets-'' ''pretty like you, hehe'' you cut him off with a compliment to which his cheeks quickly bloom in red as he adverts his gaze and mutters something under his breath about being smooth. Despite having dated for some time now, he still gets flustered at the smallest things, something you hope to never really change
Taking his free hand, you walk out the school. Talking about random things, like how the other day, Koromaru dragged Ken to play with him in the pile of leaves he just gathered
''Sure, Ken's mature and reliable, but he needed to be reminded that its alright to be 'childish' and have fun sometimes. Not just him but everyone'' Akihiko states, orange and red leaves around him make him look photogenic ''Yeah! exactly, so dont strain yourself in training too much okay?'' you reply, knowing his tendency to train hard to get stronger ''Yes, i know'' ''says the one who wouldve trained asap after getting injured had Mitsuru not intervene'' you deadpanned at him Catching a falling leaf you continue, ''I admire you a lot more than you think, or how you act with people you care for, and your passion that burns you to get stronger'' you say to him. Extending your arm to him and putting the red leaf that matched his vest, behind his ear. It might not be a pretty flower, but its fine since you already had a pretty flower infront of you ''Maybe thats why i got to Fall for You''
you softly smile at him as his grey eyes tinted with a warm tone, slightly widen. Smiling warmly back at you
No words needed to be exchanged to each other since you already felt it, the warmth in your chest while the chilly autumn breeze passes by -
''Hehe, get it? because Fall for you?? Fall as in-'' ''sigh''

Reloaded Rambling: Persona 3
Broken Fulfillment
I finished Persona 3 Reloaded last night and ever since I've been torn between rambling about it and sobbing because the ending never fails to wound me.
I'm not exaggerating for narrative emphasis nor am I joking, I cried. I am a grown man and I cried just as much last night as I did when I beat Persona 3 Fes in the late 2000s to early 2010s.
I can not express in words to you just how much the ending hurts me nor can I express how much I love it. That's why I am broken but find fulfillment...which is as on point with the death theme as anything else.
I even delayed finishing the game because I could feel the emotions and tears welling up as soon as the final month started. I even took a moment to note how ironic it was that the color palette literally grows gray throughout the month.
As 'The Fall' draws near and apathy syndrome grows the very world itself begins to white out yet I feel the story the strongest as it does.
Every interaction with Aigis is emotional pain because I knew what was coming. As she grew as a person, understood love, and found a reason in life I knew that she was about to have that ripped from her.
It wasn't just her either. P3 already had a lot of little moments in the final month as the cast finds their resolve and as you finish what social links you've started, everyone is finding a resolution, they're preparing for a battle they believe they may not win.
In fact, Reload improved on this more with it's link episodes. Everyone playing in the park, Ken's silly combat and coffee practice, the movies with Koromaru, Akihiko and Yukari, everything.
Several of these mini stories wrap up toward the end and it's only when you know about P3's ending that you realize why.
Constant Improvement
I'd even argue that Persona 3 is one of the few stories to properly be remade in recent years. They only added small things to make the story better, updated gameplay, and just overall refined the package.
That's the kind of treatment a remake should be given rather than the laziness you see in movies today or the bait & switch SE pulled with FF7.
And it was only upon typing this that I realized that P3 has had this treatment from the start. P3 Fes only ever expanded the original hit game. Even though many fans didn't like 'The Answer' they at least loved everything added to the Journey.
P3 was then made a classic for a third time with P3 Portable. The PSP limited some things but it is loved for it's female MC and the story changes.
Persona 3 has always been given a positive treatment each time it's tackled and it's so rare.
That cycles back into Reload. We fans had to beg and complain for years but they tackled the remake with every bit of love that you could've hoped for.
The only things they did to earn ere was not including 'The Answer' or the FeMC and as of the time I type this 'The Answer' will at least be added as DLC.
I don't intend to downplay the feelings of those who strongly desired the FeMC either, I am playing through P3P so I get it, I just want to point out that having so few complaints about a remake is so rare.
I went on this whole side tangent to emphasize how impressed I was with the things added. The episodes, a few scenes, it made the feelings that P3Fes gives me just as potent years later.
I'm an indifferent man, I rarely feel emotion let alone genuinely show it, but for years one thing that always broke me was P3's story. To see it remade so well meant a lot to me.
Memento Mori
When I first played P3 I was actually looking for P4. A friend on a KH forum had suggested it as a fan but I couldn't find it on sale. P4 was at the height of its popularity so I couldn't find it at all.
Instead, I found P3 and bought it. My friend was a bit annoyed and said P4 was better but I played it anyway and by God it broke me.
At that time I had a depression problem. I have had one since 8th grade at that point in my life so P3's theme of death resonated with my core.
I had no spoilers for this story then, I thought we were defying fate like any other RPG and looking back I should've expected something. People died often in P3, even main cast, and the story put time into seeing the cast process that.
The single dungeon of the game is Tartarus but no, nothing clipped for me till that final scene.
That final scene caused a whirlwind of emotion to hit me because I could sense something was wrong and your MC only gets weaker as Aigis affirms her feelings and goal in life and the music doesn't stop.
Just when the other SEES remember and rush to find you they arrive only to find you gone. That.Fucking.Broke.Me.
The credits then has the audacity to play an upbeat song as the credits roll. That was it, you died and the entire game clicked in my brain.
The entire game just hits me all at once. The MC's persona is Orpheus, you literally climb through Tartarus towards Nyx, death itself, and you do not come out of it unscathed.
The characters each dealt with death and found a reason to keep living while Aigis found humanity, in those tears I understood that the games message.
Death is not avoidable, even for your MC. His miracle came at a cost, his ultimate persona is the Messiah for a reason but that's not what truly important.
It's the journey to that ending. The MC helped everyone he had a bond with find a reason to live, the games story is a positive one not a sad one.
I felt my brain rewire that day, aside from truly depressing events in my life, I have never truly been depressed again. Not permanently.
Even if I live a life like a hermit I'll never just give up on everything because this story broke me and rewired how I see things.
More importantly for this post, my initial breakdown of emotion always resurfaces when I play P3. I find myself attached to Aigis in particular due to her specific journey and her role in 'The Answer'.
So when I say this remake only added to the positive I meant it. (you probably thought I forgot about that and went on a seperate tangent didn't you~)
Every little scene new or expanded they put in this game makes it stronger. I did not want January to end but I was already a few days in and the game was breaking me.
Koromaru's new linked stories, Shinji, and Aigis in particular were wonderfully done. Everything just ties together in a way that I can't explain to you in a singular post.
These things I've stated not only apply to added content but old as well. A complaint you'll see at times is how some Persona social links seem to contradict the casts main story progression or how some are weaker than others.
Persona 3, any version of Persona 3, does not have that issue. Whether you personally like them all my vary but they are all remarkably consistent with the Death theme, the theme of finding new direction or meaning in life, or they're harmless at worst.
A key part of the reason why is because the Fool & Judgement Social Links are tied to main story progression. The whole reason linked episodes were added was because the main SEES cast have character growth alongside those two arcana as the story progresses.
In P3Fes or P3Portable you could have friend/romance with some SEES based on MC chosen but their actual growth as a character is tied to the story. They grow with you.
And what you do learn on those friend/romance links doesn't contradict with that main story progression. You won't have a situation like in P5 where Ryugi feels like two different people between his personal social link and the main story.
No game is flawless mind you, all I mean to say is that P3 meshes better with it's links and main story. All those lives you help along the way just hit harder during the finale for it.
You can feel like it meant something.
I can't wait for 'The Answer'
I have no decent transition here nor am I sure I conveyed my feelings/meaning as well as I had hoped above. So before these P3 images and OST make me cry again I'll talk about 'The Answer'.
If nothing else, I do hope I have explained how important the main story is to me and I hope that it makes sense to you that I do not consider P3 complete without this story addition.
It had issues in P3Fes, there is no way around that, but given how well they handled this remake I hope they can give 'The Answer' that same love.
Because it's very important to Aigis as a character as well as to the overall themes of life & death. If you have not seen the scenes of The Answer or played P3Fes yourself you may want to skip from here on out btw.
You still there? Good because I need anyone reading to understand that 'The Answer' is key. It's key because it's about grief.
Many of the main cast had to deal with loss and grief in the main story so people find their relapse odd here but you have to remember that no one death is the same. You do not just become okay with important people dying.
You can always fall back on your sadness and that's what happens here. Aigis literally loses the will to live and becomes more machine like, Yukari quite frankly becomes bitchy, and the overall crew is somber.
They thought they had won, your MC lived till graduation. They had their best and worst times with him and he died for reasons that they do not understand.
'The Answer' is quite literally that answer. They learn why he died, Aigis finds her own answer to life, and I wish I could elaborate more but I'm torn between telling you and just hoping you play it.
It's an epilogue and one that I feel P3 needs to have to feel right. It makes your MC's sacrifice feel more worth while to know the cast will use his memory to live better rather than fall back into grief.
It does my soul better to know that Aigis won't give up on life.
I'm spent
There's more I could've said but I'm quite frankly to emotional to add more. I struggled to even be coherent with this and I'm not sure I was.
I consider this the best Persona game yet and I'll always love 3 more than the others. I simply didn't feel attached to the scooby doo gang from P4 and I'm too old to care about the teen rebellion in P5...plus their mascot characters literally agitate me.
I hope you play this game or already have and I hope you're willing to give 'The Answer' a shot. Bye now~

■ Characters
Koromaru (voiced by Shinya Takahashi in Japanese)
A dog who awakens to the power of Persona after a tragic event. Since his original owner—the priest of the dorm’s neighboring Naganaki Shrine—had passed away, the protagonist and friends take him in as a full-fledged member of S.E.E.S.
Clever, loyal, and friendly, he quickly becomes a beloved member of the group. He seems especially close to Aigis—who translates his barks—and Ken Amada, the elementary school student.
In battle, he wields a knife in his mouth. His unique Persona is Cerberus, specializing in dark skills.
Aigis (voiced by Dawn M. Bennett in English, Maaya Sakamoto in Japanese)
A man-made Anti-Shadow Suppression Weapon, 7th Generation. She joins S.E.E.S. as an android with a humanlike heart, granting her the power of Persona.
She harbors a mysterious attachment to the Protagonist from the first day they meet. Initially coming across as cold and robotic, she begins to discover more human emotions through her experiences with the group.
In battle, she fires off an arsenal of weapons built into her mechanical body. Her unique Persona is Palladion, specializing in physical and support skills.
Ken Amada (voiced by Justine Lee in English, Megumi Ogata in Japanese)
The youngest member of S.E.E.S.—a 5th grader at Gekkoukan Elementary. After losing his mother in an accident, he comes to live at the Iwatodai Dorm.
After awakening to his Persona abilities, he joins S.E.E.S. of his own accord. While he strives to act mature with his mannerisms, deep down he is still a child with a passion for superhero TV shows.
In battle, he holds a long spear in contrast to his short stature. His unique Persona is Nemesis, specializing in light skills.
Shinjiro Aragaki (voiced by Justice Slocum in English, Kazuya Nakai in Japanese)
A third-year at Gekkoukan High, though he can rarely be seen at school. He was a founding member of SEES alongside Mitsuru and Akihiko. After distancing himself for about two years, a certain turn of events convinces him to rejoin the group.
While unapproachable at first glance, beneath the gruff exterior is a gentle heart and a knack for cooking. He even has a soft spot for animals, doting on Koromaru when no one is looking.
In battle, he bludgeons with weapons like axes. His unique Persona is Castor, specializing in hard-hitting physical attacks.
■ Key Art and Protagonist’s Battle Uniform Revealed
In Persona 3 Reload, all members of the Special Extracurricular Execution Squad (S.E.E.S.) now don new battle uniforms when taking on Tartarus.
The newly revealed key art depicts the protagonist in his new outfit alongside his Persona, Thanatos. The iconic S.E.E.S armbands have also been redesigned to match the updated battle uniform.

☆ junpei takes on a big brother role with ken. lending him manga and video games rated teen/mature that he knows contain content that is okay for his age. taking him out at night to the arcade/for "secret" menu items. sneaking fun snacks into his room so he has something to feast on besides milk. this makes ken feel seen as an equal rather than as a child bc junpei is so genuine in his antics that it doesn't feel belittling/mothering.
☆ mitsuru begins truly seeking out her own style after she + yukari deepen their bond in november. at first, this results in some truly horrendous outcomes bc yukari wanted mitsuru to select what she liked for once instead of a stylist choosing for her. it comes to a head when mitsuru walks out one sunday wearing a red leather jacket, tan cargo pants, a retro graphic tee, and crocs. she eventually lands on a casual alternative style under yukari's strict guidance.
☆ akihiko is prone to forgetting about things outside of his goals or the people he cares for. this leads to many situations where he finds himself standing head empty, no thoughts in the middle of the grocery store or during casual conversation with family/friends/acquaintances. his tell that he's forgotten something is the tips of his ears turning bright red. when younger, he'd steal shinji's beanie to cover them out of self-consciousness. his notes app is clogged with dozens of nonsensical ramblings such as "milk" or "sun outside" in an attempt to remember such things.
I LOVE THESE 😭😭😭
junpei (along w yukari, minato/kotone, fuuka, n aigis) being older siblings to ken is so important to me… idk how to explain but it just hits different …!!!! i love when ken shows up and junpei wants to be his older brother so bad lmfao. i feel like him (and the other second years) being closer to ken’s age makes it easier for them to understand him so it’s way easier for them to get along. only downside is junpei cannot help ken with any of his work. it could be the easiest problem youve ever seen and junpei will be like “sorry i cant help you”
the thought of mitsuru not having any sense of style is so funny bc i’ve always just been like “yeah i mean she can probably dress decently on her own” but it would b cute to think she just picks out whatever she likes without thinking if the outfit will actually look good together or not. she sees a funny little cartoon on a shirt and is like This is delightful!!! and grabs it and pairs it with the most expensive and beautiful pants you’ve ever seen. then she wears a hideous pair of shoes to top it all off. without yukari, i imagine she wears her ugly ass outfit to go out to eat w like. aki or something. she shows up n akihiko (who knows how to dress) is just like what the hell are you wearing
now that u say this… akihiko is kinda sim coded. does workouts anywhere he goes. forgets what hes doing the second he enters a room. & omfg. him blushing to the tips of his ears is something i put in my drawings all the time idk if it’s noticeable but i love it so much… + the notes app thing so real but also imagine him sending texts to ppl to remind himself of certain things. mitsuru waking up in the morning to see akihiko texted her “Water” at 3:42 AM. shinji picks up his phone and has 12 notifications from akihiko within seconds of each other (its a grocery list). ken doing his homework and akihiko texts him “Koromaru” and nothing else (he needs to take koromaru for a walk later)
#ask#p3ask#can they just be a family is that so much to ask#i imagine everything in post canon so i enjoy picturing that junpei is like the unofficial brother/son of the akishinji + ken household#hes always there and never at the dorms. go home junpei. yukari aigis and fuuka miss you

persona 3 liveblogging:
omg arqa looks totally different. like i remember the weird purple vibe zone, but the way the walls are all curved, they really did a fantastic job remaking tartarus. like it just looks bony and curvy and creepy. i can't wait to see disco rainbow zone
other things i love: i really like the new shuffle time. the whole "unlock major arcana" thing is a nice gimmick, having random things to smash in the dungeon is mindless fun, i'm just really loving it all.
i also noticed skills like kouha are in the game now, meaning that dark/light aren't just insta kill only, meaning that ken and koro are gonna be MUCH more useful
god the new summon animations are SICK AS HELL
btw i did notice that junpei still can't use a katana. i actually have always loved that for him. he straight up wields a sword like a baseball bat and always will. i think that's wonderful. there is a Lot of characterization in skills in this game.
like the games always do some personality = skills corrolation. but like. junpei using a sword wrong. akihiko and shinjiro having matched personas. spoilers spoilers EVERYTHING about ken, including the fact that his evolved persona suddenly pivots HARD into healing. the fact that evolved persona are tied to plot and character development rather than social links. it's all so goooood FOR EXAMPLE:
akihiko just coming in with mazio when no one else has multi hit attacks yet is actually really cool. like probably was like that in the original, but now that they're all so much slicker it really is like. oh yeah he really has been doing this for years. oh yeah he's just Better.
i actually really like that in p3 -- when makoto joins, he's new to personas, but yukari has been in SEES for a bit, and mitsuru and akihiko have been fighting for 2-3 years already. like it just adds to the vibe. makoto is the team leader, but mitsuru is in charge, he's the new kid, everyone else knows more than you.
and that theme keeps going, too. shinji is the Retired Vet; aegis is a shadow fighting robot who has been at it 10+ years; fuuka and junpei and koromaru are newbies like you, ken is a newbie but has known about shadows for years -- i like p4 and 5's Scrappy Friends And Newbies All thing, but i like how p3's vibe is just. so different.
like yeah if you take the fighting games etc into account -- of Course it's the SEES crew that started the Shadow Hunters or whatever they're called, of course it's mitsuru who recruits the p4 kids; SEES is like. professionals. pro shadow fighters. and that has downsides the game very much explores -- there's a LOT of ptsd and mistrust and a lack of team unity EVERYWHERE, these guys aren't friends until the last half of the game -- but it also. man. i love these fucked up kids and their Drive.
and if that sounds all edgelord grimdark it's also the only game where a literal dog is a party member. no cute mascots who are secretly More. nope we have a 10 year old and a Dog. i love this game
OH ALSO i love the new translation? script? whatever it is? it's basically the same as i remember, but the terms of address are all different -- the menu refers to akihiko as "sanada," because that's what makoto does; yukari is takeba but junpei is junpei, i just. love when you can tell Relationship through Names
anyway akihiko hasn't shouted that he's BEEN WAITING FOR THIS!!! yet

a persona 3 reload review
uuuuuuh so i was meant to post this like... two weeks ago, but then real life hit me in the head like a frying pan. now that i've had the time to edit this though, here are my thoughts on p3re! this is also a minato route review, as i played kotone's in P3P (i know it's not his canon name, but i don't want to use makoto due to P5 confusion).
on the whole, reload is a fantastic game. the gameplay easily rivals P5R, and surpasses it in some aspects. the new content is typically great. i also enjoyed minato as a character (well, as much of a character as persona protagonists are anyway), though that leads me to the main gripe i had with reload...
... and that's the lack of kotone's social links. to be precise, two of her social links, the absence of which greatly hurts the overall story.
don't get me wrong, i'd still rank reload a solid 8/10, but it could have been a 10/10 with the addition of those two links (plus one other spoiler thing), and I think that's a shame.
my in depth analysis is under the cut - note, it's very much not spoiler free.
okay, so, i'm gonna split this into 3.5 segments - the good, the mixed, and the bad (you'll find out what the 0.5 is later).
1. the good:
minato - while i'm still a kotone girlie at heart, he's not a bad protagonist at all! his dialogue options have a very distinct personality to them unlike joker and yu, and his character arc is one of the best of all of the persona main leads. an aloof, apathetic boy who learns to love the world/his friends so much he's willing to die for them... it's good!
koromaru - minor, but worth mentioning. you can pat him, and it's so cute. in fact, everything about him is perfect. from his all-out attack screen, to his animations, to... well, everything. no joke, if I needed to sell this game to a non-persona fan, i'd use him as the main draw.
hangout events - while I think being able to chat to everyone in the dorm already made SEES one of the more developed casts, having additional scenes really helped flesh out the party members who are less prominent in the plot (fuuka, pre-january aigis, ken). more things to do at night is also great, given there was nothing to do in the evening after maxing your social stats in the older versions. the perks they give you are great too, but i'll talk about that more later.
voice acting - not gonna lie, i generally don't like the persona dubs, and normally always play with the JP audio. given reload features some of my favourite voice actors though and was basically fully voiced, i decided to give it a chance this time. and i don't regret it! while some actors are definitely stronger than others, none of them were actively jarring, and quite frankly, they hard carried a lot of the social links. kudos to the cast!
strega - while they could have gone a bit further with it (jin needed a linked episode for sure), takaya finally got the development he sorely needed, and his and jin's final battles were actually interesting, instead of being annoying distractions from nyx. in fact, i'd say takaya's new content is easily the best of the new reload exclusive material. in portable, he made no impression on me whatsoever, but now, he finally gets to be the anti!minato he deserves to be.
1.5. the tartarus (aka good part 2, electric boogaloo):
i have so many things to gush about in terms of the new combat/exploration system, i decided it needed its own section! the glow-up tartarus got was massive. i was pretty disappointed when i heard they were keeping it randomly generated, but somehow, atlus pulled it off! i'll talk about individual things below.
collectables/monad doors - one issue with OG tartarus is that it's monotonous. breakable collectables make it much more entertaining to romp through though, as smashing things is Fun. the monad doors interspersed throughout are another good addition - if you want a break from roaming, you can challenge them, but if not, that's fine!
floor layout - another thing that makes tartatus more fresh to explore is that the HD graphics really make the differences between the blocks pop out. the generally smaller floors with more unique layouts really helps too.
shifting - it's baton pass, though without the ridiculous power/sp bonuses that made baton pass a little bit too gamebreaking in persona 5. in other words, perfect!
theurgy - out of all the battle-specific improvements, theurgy and the personality traits have got to be my favourites. showtimes were fun, but too random/gimmicky to be that useful, and ultimate skills tended to fluctuate between being absolutely gamebreaking or too SP intensive to be worth using. blending them into one feature with a content-specific gauge fixes all the problems with them while keeping everything that made showtimes/ultimate skills good.
ambush mechanics - this was one of the things i was most worried about before playing reload. ambushing in P5 is fun, but ambushing in the other persona games...? not so much. reload manages to fix this though by making the shadows less sensitive, which makes the early game a lot better, and but introducing dash-ambushes once the floors get bigger. if the persona 6 ambush system works like this, i'll be happy.
navigator skills - fuuka being retooled to work more like a playable character was an A+++ decision. making her skills player-activated but with an SP cost is so much more immersive than randomly getting a stat boost/enemy info.
unfortunately, while i think most of the tartarus additions were great, there were a few new mechanics which weren't... dreadful, per say, but could have been implemented better.
great clocks - they're better than nothing, but quite frankly, i would have preferred it if benched units got 50% exp instead. they incentivise you to drop two units for a period of time, which is annoying, given i want to use everyone on my first playthrough. late game, great clocks are also a pain to summon, for reasons i'll talk about below.
twilight fragments - i think they're a neat idea in theory, but they need to be easier/more reliable to farm. once you finish off the bulk of your social links/elizabeth's requests, replenishing them becomes a nightmare, which is annoying because you need them for great clocks.
2. the mixed:
while reload did a lot of things right, as per above, there were some things that didn't quite hit the mark.
linked episodes - i'm gonna be blunt. anyone who thinks these are better than social links is smoking something. one thing i like about party member social links is that it gives them a subplot outside of the main story, focusing more on their mundane struggles as opposed to their supernatural ones. half of the linked episodes just develop the main plot more though (and really should have just been included in it), meaning the linked episode exclusive subplots are underbaked.
another problem is that some of the linked episodes are just... kinda badly written. ryoji's completely lacks his existential dread, akihiko's comes off as a poor attempt to make his arena behaviour less OOC, while shinjiro's... it feels like persona 5 writing, in the worst way possible. it's like atlus completely forgot that subtext is a thing that's Good, actually.
while I have been fairly critical of them so far though, there are a couple of linked episodes i liked. koromaru's actually worked with the format, given he's a dog, but the real winner here was takaya. i loved all of his. if linked episodes appear again, i'd rather they be locked to antagonists like him.
art direction- i'll say right now - the UI is fabulous, the model shaders are great, and tartarus looks fantastic. the environmental design on the whole though is a bit iffy - a lot of the environments didn't translate to the super HD very well, and the lighting sucks in general. i needed to turn down the brightness it was so eye-searing. the animation of the 2D cutscenes is also pretty mediocre, and while the 3D cutscenes tend to look better, they're held back by some of the character models looking a bit goofy (mitsuru's is probably the biggest offender). i also think they were too scared of making the sprites 'ugly', and therefore on the whole they're slightly less emotive than the ones in the older versions of the game, which is a pity.
3. the bad:
minato's social links - the vast majority of the minato-exclusive social links are just flat-out not great. serious props to the voice actors here, since they hard carried them. quite frankly, they're just... bland, except for maya's and suemitsu's, which. uh. have problems. on the topic of social links, while i'm happy the romance isn't mandatory anymore, i don't like how half the girls explicitly confess to you. i much prefer the more subtle vibes of the P5/P4 romantic options, as yeah, most of them can lead naturally into romance, but they don't make the MC feel like a harem anime protagonist (derogatory). it kinda brings to mind this twitter post; sometimes, subtlety is simply better.
the absence of shinji and ryoji's social links - i can live without saori, rio, and most of the new and improved SEES member social links, but this is where i draw the line. while shinji dying is better storytelling, just like with chidori, having the option to save him is also important. lock it behind new game plus, yes... but keep it. also, him priming kotone to support akihiko one he's gone is far better than him just flat-out telling minato that he's dying. ryoji's missing social link though is infinitely worse. where is his slowly mounting horror as he starts poking holes in his backstory? his desperation to validate that he's actually real? that he exists?! like yeah, it's nice that the linked episode doubled down on his bisexuality, but i'd rather keep the psychological breakdown aspects of it, y'know?
the difficulty - i started playing reload normal - the level i'd typically use for a blind run of a persona game - aaaaand swapped to hard the second i unlocked theurgy. even then though, the game was a cakewalk until january hit. while i love theurgy, the game is absolutely not scaled around it, especially since you can charge/concentrate them. doing that, you can easily rack up thousands of damage without even going ham with fusion. unfortunately, reload is just... really easy.
the plot's too faithful to the original - while reload added new content, it pretty much left the story untouched outside of the beach scene. that's... not good, as persona 3's narrative had some pretty big problems. the biggest issue is the unchanged pacing - the strega storyline really needed to start a month earlier, and ryoji needed an extra month to integrate with the characters due to his lack of social link. this is one of the things i'm explicitly docking a point for - reload still doesn't kick off until the yakushima arc, which is well over a third into the game.
despite my criticisms, i do want to note that my experience with reload was predominately positive. it's (extremely) sad that you still need to play portable to experience the full persona 3 story, but p3re is still a fantastic game, and has a lot of gameplay features i'd be delighted to see in persona 6.
that's all i've got to say for now - until next time!

P3R while I was gone, part 3: The False Prince and the Rainbow Disco Party
Life is good in the aftermath of the final shadow. Yesterday was a terrible battle, but I must still go to school today, etc. And after school, it’s time to celebrate!
We’re all so glad to be done with this nonsense. Even Mitsuru’s dad is here, to officially disband SEES at midnight.
I forgot Ken has never met him. XD
The only people missing are Aigis and Ikutsuki; he took her back to the lab to check up on a few things. Junpei really wants a group picture, and since they still aren’t back, we’re just going to have to take another one later.
He asks one of Kirijo-san’s guys to take the picture for us. It goes great. XDDDD
It’s getting later and later, and I like to think that Mitsuru’s dad enjoyed spending time with us. We had a good time. We ate so much sushi! And now it’s time to count down to midnight.
...well, fuck. X’D
Yeah, there was no way that was the final boss. Ikutsuki and Aigis still aren’t back, and Mitsuru’s dad is furious, because this was supposed to be the end of things. We get Fuuka to search for Ikutsuki, and she locates both him and Aigis at the entrance to Tartarus.
Ikutsuki has removed her free will to make her obedient to him. But aside from that, SEES wants to know what the fuck is going on, because ridding the world of shadows and the Dark Hour was our entire purpose, and it’s still here.
Apparently the end will come and free the world from despair! The only salvation lies in ruin!
Right. Sure. Why is everyone always trying to free the world from despair in the wrong way?
Well, that’s a bit arrogant, huh? Somehow I don’t think that getting us to kill the shadows makes you the prince. I think you’ve misinterpreted something, since the note we found in Monad said that the Prince of Salvation would be “born” after gathering all the shadows.
You, sir, already exist. Regrettably.
Ikutsuki gets Aigis to capture all of us and drag us up to what would be the school’s observatory in normal time. God only knows how you find a specific room in Tartarus when it’s constantly changing, plus, like… did the shadows not bother you and Aigis while you hauled seven people and a dog up the tower?
Not to mention, how long were we out, because how long did it take to do this?
Oh, yeah, Mitsuru’s dad came after us and wants to know what the hell is going on. Ikutsuki is very chill about mass human sacrifice of teenagers and children.
Mitsuru’s dad is NOT down with this, because he does not want the world to end, and he ends up getting away from Aigis to take a shot at Ikutsuki.
Ikutsuki gets gut shot and screams at Aigis to kill the rest of us.
Mitsuru’s dad collapses.
And Aigis looks at all of her friends, and shoots out the chains to free us.
Ikutsuki wants to know why we’re even bothering to search for a reason to live in this “broken world. No one really has an answer for him, especially not Mitsuru, who is busy trying to save her dad. And failing.
You really weren’t.
Ikutsuki stumbles back and falls from the edge of the observatory platform, so we’ve lost all the adults who knew what was going on in one fell swoop.
It’s just us now.
But I must still go to school today?
Ah. Yeah.
Mitsuru doesn’t have any other family to deal with arrangements or the company, so… Yeah.
None of us are really okay. But there’s not much we can do at the moment. But Fuuka did dig into Ikutsuki’s computer files. He doctored that video of Yukari’s dad to make it sound like we needed to destroy the shadows, but Fuuka found the original.
This leads to Yukari’s second awakening, changing Io into Isis to symbolize her newfound resolve. That’s five teammates so far! Mitsuru, Aigis, Koromaru, and I are left. And I don’t think Koromaru gets a second awakening.
My schedule returns to normal, and I’m wandering around as usual.
I will find my Fortune! Even if it won’t be official. ^_^
Igor also wants to talk to me, but other than opening up some more special fusions, he just wants me to remember that I have to take responsibility for my actions.
Honestly, my guy, I still don’t know what fate I chose?
Or maybe it’s the fate I’m going to choose, in which case, there’s only one choice.
On the social link front, Kenji has come to a decision!
Well, I don’t know what the fuck is going to happen with you from here, but uh, good luck I guess?
Hey, who’s that over there?
Oh. Oh… Okay, yeah, you’ve just been an idiot this whole time. She was talking to her fiance.
But… I dunno, I feel like at some point she should have noticed how Kenji was acting around her and shut that down a lot harder.
Chin up, Kenji. I guess. I’m gonna go ask my weird blue cousin what she wants to do tonight.
Huh. Ken has one of those! We can talk about how the ending of season 2 was such a disappointment for the shippers.
(Also, is that a Sailor Moon reference?)
LIZ. OMG.
Okaaaaaaaay, what is everyone else up to?
...too real, sir. I’m going home.
…...not sure how to tell you, Mamoru, but I do not take the sport seriously.
ANYWAY. I guess after Featherman tonight we should head back into Tartarus. It’s the only lead we have, and there has to be a top up there somewhere. Besides, I’m gonna be busy tomorrow, so let’s go now and see what’s up with the next area. We were at a border floor before.
...wait.
Do you hear that?
It sounds like… eurodance Caramelldansen remix.
Getting closer.
I love Harabah. Oh my gosh. This is fantastic. It’s hard to see the shadows roaming the floors, but I don’t even care, this is incredible. It’s SO different from all the other blocks and it’s amazing. I’m gonna have so much fun here.
I also finally fused Decarabia, so I got a new fusion spell!
I love Star Forneus, too. <3
Tomorrow is Monday and we will go back to school and all will be right with the world because it’s November 9th and I have reasons to Scream. :D

Took the liberty of P3R releasing to create a tier list based on each SEES/Shadow Operative member’s opinion of Teddie. To prove some guy on Reddit wrong who said Mitsuru actively dislikes Teddie. No one actively dislikes/hates him. Lowest tier is awkward co-existence.
Most opinions based on Arena.
Tier 1: Teddie Fans
Here we have Aigis and special guest Labrys. Fellow non-humans stick together! They all have a strong understanding of each other. Only members that would actively text him and want to hang out. Would defend each other no matter what. They each know Teddie would take hits for them and would do the same. Squad!
Tier 2: Beary Good Friends
Junpei, Fuuka, and Koromaru
Junpei is such a fun bro they would definitely get up to shenanigans after he got used to Teddie’s inherent strangeness. Teddie teases and messes with him sometimes. Junpei sealed his fate after opening a door when Teddie told him to. Bro has been dubbed an easy target to mischief.
Fuuka is a sweet cinnamon roll. Would find all of Teddie’s energy to be overwhelming at first but then consider it endearing. Sweet boy and sweet girl. Teddie can take her on fun adventures. She will mom-friend him so much.
Mascot Wars is a curse Teddie inflicted on himself. Meanwhile Koromaru enjoys his company and interprets their one-sided rivalry and competitions as a game. Would save him from danger.
Tier 3: “Well, Teddie, you are an odd fellow. But I must say you steam a good ham”
A tier for mature individuals. Here we have Akihiko, Mitsuru, and Ken
Akihiko, more accurately, would float somewhere between tier 2 and 3 depending on how much he’s able to interact with Teddie. He’s one of the few guys Teddie gives a nickname to so the bear does enjoy his company even if they find each other to be odd. That irony is funny to me. Teddie clings to the bits of social awkwardness Akihiko has left and playfully makes fun of some of his choices. Meanwhile when going through the Arena routes where they have the most interactions Akihiko would respect him as a Persona-user for his strong loyalty towards his friends. Can be moved to tier 2 with enough interactions but otherwise stays here.
Mitsuru is here! The character that started this tier list! Mitsuru does not dislike Teddie and is able to shut down most of his flirting attempts fast. She is a professional and can deal with worse in a quick and serious manner with the least amount of offending. Someone online claimed that Mitsuru wouldn’t want to be on a team with Teddie due to difficulties dealing with him but I see this as false. In Teddie’s internal monologue in Arena he mentioned how commanding Mitsuru’s voice is and how it would be difficult to say no to her. This is to say under normal circumstances Teddie would have no issues following her orders. Mitsuru also didn’t veto Teddie volunteering to join her, Akihiko, and Aigis on a rescue mission for Teddie’s friends in Ultimax. So she would view him as a capable eccentric.
On to Ken. Honestly, this tier list made me realize how little Teddie and Ken have interacted in any spin-off. As such, most of this would be headcanons. I think Ken would view Teddie as very immature at first but would cut him a bit of slack after finding out he wasn’t from this world. Teddie would try to get him to play with him since he seems so serious for his age which would annoy Ken since he still doesn’t enjoy being seen as the child of the group. So they could have a few misunderstandings with each other. Overall, Ken would know that Teddie is an important member of the IT and try not to judge.
Tier 4: Awkward Coexistence
The tier for Yukari (& Shinji)
Yukari and Teddie didn’t have a good first meeting with each other. What with Teddie trying to touch her to check if she was a fake or not since he doesn’t know how the real Yukari is supposed to act and the fog was messing with his nose. They became a group for a bit before separating and most of their interactions had Yukari annoyed with him. Yukari is very critical around guys that are full of themselves and flirt with girls often so she would most likely keep a bit of distance when in a group setting with him. If she ever finds out more about him then she could be willing to give him another chance. Not seeing him for awhile could also mellow her out to him eventually. Otherwise they stay as acquaintances. Only one that would side eye to being paired with him for a mission.
So, there you have it random Reddit user! No one in SEES actively dislikes Teddie!
Maybe I'll make a reverse tier list? Teddie's own opinions on everyone!
