Dear mom

It's day 100 of being homeless. I've got a really nice job and salary now. I'm praying I still have enough saved in April for a place. I don't want this to be over before August.

If I can't get in somewhere in April, prices will just go up with the summer because of the colleges. I'm running out of places to safely sleep and it's starting to get to me.

Finally gave in and got a gym membership so I can easily shower anytime and the place is 24hrs. So maybe if the lot is big enough I can get away staying there occasionally. I don't know.

J and I got into a huge fight. I want to end things. I want this to be forever. I want to run away and I want a wedding. I want all of it and nothing at all all at the same time. I'm confused. And hurt. Maybe I'm overreacting about the whole thing. Maybe it's the lack or sleep and stress.

I'm bad at math, but is Bruce theoretically 38 years old when he goes into the time stream?

Hear me out (and canon likes to fluncate their ages, so this is my best guess without trying to account for birthdays):

Bruce becomes the legal guardian of 9 year old Dick when he's 23. That's a 14 year difference.

Jason becomes Robin when Dick leaves at 18. Jason is 13. That's a five year difference.

Jason dies at 15, and Tim becomes Robin at 13. That's a two year difference.

The age difference between Tim and Bruce would thus be 21 years.

Tim becomes Red Robin to find Bruce at 17.

That means that Bruce had to be 38, right? Why was I imagining him closer to 50?

Andrew wakes up staring at the white ceiling of a hospital room. He knows this because it is not the first time that this has happened to him, he’s been here a few times at this point but in this moment he remembers the last truly memorable time that this had happened. He’d woken up with five years down the drain, turned his head and saw a gorgeous man who looked like he hadn’t slept in days.

If he hadn’t been such a fucking movie trope he would have stayed silent and he knows that man would have said something to make him realize that something was amiss. Instead he noticed how this man’s face shape was nearly identical to the suspicious freshman they had just gotten on the team. “Josten?”

He’d been too out of it still to really question the way Neil Josten’s entire face shattered at the sound of his last name. To question why he didn’t say a word or ever show up in front of Andrew again after he hit the call button that had the doctors coming in. Never showed up in front of Andrew again except in their dorm room.

Because it was their dorm room, even if Andrew hadn’t thought so at the time.

Neil Josten looked him in the eye for a second time and told him he was amazing after thanking him.

He turns his head to the side this time and sees Aaron and Katelyn asleep in the shitty plastic chairs. He’s surprised that Aaron would let Katelyn sleep in one considering how uncomfortable it must be, he dismisses that after a moment because Katelyn was probably the one who had insisted on being right here.

He turns his head to the other side.

Nothing.

But not the nothing he had wanted to see.

Once again pondering Peri & Dev's dynamic and I've come to the conclusion that I feel like the best end goal for them is just... ambiguous found family?

Dev really needs a proper family figure in his life, but Peri is most likely around 23 years old, way too young to be a dad. However, a brother figure is probably off the table too, as I feel Peri would be hesitant to declare himself another sibling, especially since Timmy isn't around to get to know Dev himself.

Ergo... ambiguous found family. Not every found family needs to have defined roles, and plenty don't. Peri doesn't need to be Dev's father or brother, he can just be family and be there for him like any family member would. No need for names, just the feelings.

Callum: so you were. you were twenty when we first started dating?

The thought about hearing of Andrew’s life without him… Neil had never been a masochist no matter what Andrew had said before. He had a sense for self-preservation that had been honed by years and years of his mother’s teachings. She had always been right and it had taken seeing Andrew crumpled on the Court to realize that the dangers she spoke of weren’t only to him.

So whenever Nicky had called wanting to talk he had made it clear to Andrew’s cousin that he didn’t want to hear anything about how Andrew’s life was going. Didn’t want to know about apartments that Andrew bought, cars Andrew drove, people that Andrew slept with, or even if Andrew had a new favorite candy.

Neil wouldn’t have been able to handle it.

So he ran from it.

He runs away again when he looks away from Katelyn’s all-knowing eyes.

“You don’t know what his life was like after he graduated. Other than the Exy parts of it since I’m sure that Kevin wouldn’t have cared about any boundaries like Nicky and the rest of the foxes did.” Katelyn keeps talking as if Neil had acknowledged her.

“Kate?” Aaron questions.

“It was empty.” Katelyn says and Neil flinches this time. “He doesn’t remember most of college so he doesn’t remember why he broke his deal with Aaron. Doesn’t remember that he found something else, that he chose you.”

Neil turns to look at her, needing her to stop, “I’m not his answ-”

“But that doesn’t mean that he forgot you. He didn’t know it was you, but he knew where you were supposed to be.” Katelyn barrels on.
