i was thinking about the color scheme as well notice when the characters start wearing white *mostly armand* then it slowly loses the bright colors to all black as the season progress as a sign of things are getting getting blank or dull. like its the metaphor of louis armand relationship. Louis wears mostly black cause he always for lestat. armand had whites then it went black the 5-8

Note
I get that due to what Aleksander did to her she viewed him through a very black and white lens. But I feel like the writers also didn't portray him in a more grey shade. He did lead the second army quite effectively (before s1 finale). Like this scene for example shows how he can manage and guide different types of people under his leadership. Like he gives a brief side look to Ivan to not react which shows he can keep them united. I find it very hard to believe that Alina could effectively lead the second army when we've not seen her be in a leadership role and face issues in keeping everyone united. I would like to see her face these challenges in s3 and how she overcomes them. What do you think?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You make very good points here. I do think that Aleks was a very good leader to the grisha, he understood them and there was a reason why so many of them talked so reverently about him. He was their protector and leader and I do think the grisha loved him for that reason. Like in the books for example more grisha choose to follow the darkling than Alina and honestly that makes sense to me considering how much he has done for them over hundreds of years.
When it comes to Alina as a leader one thing that did strike me was during the scene when Aleks attacks the spinning wheel in 2x04. Alina doesn't really give any orders despite being the leader of the second army, its Nadia and Tamar who come up with the plan and start directing Alina on what to do. I would like them to explore Alina as a leader some more in season 3 and see her struggle with finding her feet but eventually overcoming that and growing into someone who can lead.

Have 2 questions - 1) what does the color grey mean again when buck wears it?? and 2) have we ever seen buck wear grey around Taylor?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hey Nonnies
Asking me about Buck and Grey!!! I have many thoughts!
I have written about Buck wearing grey in several of my costume metas for the various episodes, but also this one about Bucks repeat grey shirt.
Nonnie who asked about if we've ever seen him in grey around Taylor it depends on if we're just talking about season 5, or more generally!
Tumblr media
The first time we see Buck and Taylor interact outside of the firehouse (i.e out of uniform) is in 2x06 when Buck is wearing a light grey marl sweater. He is also wearing a darker grey shirt the next time they see each other - when they hook up in the bar bathroom in 2x08 (which I have just figured out is another repeat shirt for Buck - more on that later).
Tumblr media
Then we move into season 5 - the grey pyjamas in 5x01 and 5x05 and the lighter grey shirt in 5x09 are the only times I can find, when it comes to shirts, if you want to count grey jackets - then my answer is different! he wears grey jackets around her in 4x08 5x09 and 5x10.
The thing to note here is that with the exception of the pyjamas, and the repeat shirt they are all on the cool end of the grey spectrum and most of them are dark greys.
As for Buck in grey around the Diaz’s - thats a whole different story!
A quick list for you - 2x01 - in the gym scene, 2x03 - when he drives Eddie to pick up Chris post earthquake, 2x04 - Buck introduces Eddie to Carla, 3x01 - at his party, 3x08 - seeing Eddies new truck on way into firehouse, 3x11 - grey jacket at bar for Chim’s birthday, 4x08 - when Chris runs to Buck, 5x04 - the Balcony scene, 5x10 - jacket at Christmas party, 5x14 - the black and grey gingham shirt in the heart drawing scene and the upcoming moment in 5x17 with the repeat shirt
The thing to note here is that the only scenes that have Buck in dark grey - the blue grey hoodie on the balcony, and then the two jackets - when Chris runs to Buck and the Christmas party. At all other times the grey is light and it is a warm grey rather than a cool grey.
There are other examples of Buck wearing grey, and I will mention them further down this post.
So what does the colour grey mean; well, grey is a neutral colour, the balance between white and black. Unemotional, stable and solid, it is a calming and soothing colour and it is considered reliable, compromising, mature and insightful. It can also be pessimistic and indecisiveness. The tone and shade can effect the meaning of grey - it can be either a warm tone or a cold tone and this will affect which aspects of the colours meaning we should draw upon - warm tones and lighter shades - the positive aspects while cool tones and darker shades tend towards the more negative aspects.
Dark grey - pessimism, indecisive, compromising, unemotional, solid, stable and reliable.
Light grey - stable, solid, unemotional, soothing, reliable, mature and insightful.
the colour being warm or cool will heighten or lower the intensity of the meaning - so a dark cool grey will heighten the meanings and a warm dark grey will make them less intense. while warm light greys will be more intense and cool light greys will be less intense in their meaning.
Generally speaking - whenever we see Buck in dark grey it is cool toned - there is one exception - the hoodie on the balcony, which is a blue grey and warm toned. I’m actually going to ignore this hoodie because of the blue toning to it - it changes the meaning because the meaning of blue comes in to play.
The same goes for the light grey - it is all warm toned with the exception of that sweater in 2x06 and Bucks pyjamas in 5x01 and 5x05 - which are more steely grey and cool toned.
Looking at the times Buck wears dark greys, which are all cool toned, it seems they are all times of emotional stress for Buck;
the dinner at the Grant -Nash house in 3x04 where he finds out Bobby is the one keeping him from returning,
the hook up with Taylor in 2x08 when he's finally accepting Abby and him are over,
when he first arrives a the 118 (2x16 and 4x05),
when his parents arrive in 4x04
Chase Mackey’s office in 3x05
The light cool greys all seem to connect to moments of conflict - 2x06 when Buck disagrees with Taylors treatment of Bobby, and both times in bed - Taylor more interested in work and essentially ignoring Buck in 5x01 and ‘the truth is everything’ moment from 5x05. the one exception to this is the light cool grey shirt from 2x03 when Buck takes Eddie to collect Chris but the amount of blue lighting on the shirt in that scene makes it very hard to be sure of the actual toning of the grey and it almost looks silvery.
While the lighter warm greys are worn in a wider variety of moments, they are all around the Diaz’s again with on exception - when he comforts Taylor on the couch in 5x09 when they get back from Oklahoma. This doesn’t surprise me and all adds up to what I spoke about in the repeat shirt meta - that Buck is being stable, solid, soothing, reliable, mature and insightful in all of these scenes and moments - including the Taylor one and I expect we will see the same thing in the upcoming scenes he’s in that same shirt. the added dynamics for that shirt is that both are likely to be about ‘complicated family dynamics.’
The grey jackets in 4x08 and 5x10 are a bit more complex - because they contain another colour - black. They are both warm toned grey jackets but the black changes the meaning a bit - formality, secrecy, fear and pessimism can be added into the mix - this is especially true for the one from 4x08 - where the black is far more obvious than in the 5x10 one. It really serves to show the duality of that Jackets purpose - he wears it for two important scenes - one with Taylor at the awkward double date with Veronica and Albert and then a few moments later when Chris has run to him - the contrast of being accused of being needy by one and being needed by the other!
So to sum up this very long answer - Buck wearing grey around the Diaz boys is warm toned and generally light shaded - it is all about him representing stability, solidity and reliability for them, and we also see him being mature and insightful as well

You need time to think it over?
Tumblr media
2𝓍0𝟧 – 𝑅ɪᴏ’𝓈 𝐿ᴏᴏᴋʙᴏᴏᴋ
Guys. There are four Rio scenes in this episode. Four! All with different looks and half of them are NEW! It’s very shocking, I know; I had to go lie down for a while when I realised. So I’ll understand if you need to take a moment before we get into it. Do what you need to do to cope.
Look #1
Tumblr media
Remember when I was complaining that the last episode didn’t give us any proper shots so we could see wtf this man was wearing? This episode said hold my beer.
This is definitely his exact outfit from the 2x04 bathroom scene, right down to the jeans.
Tumblr media
And this time I’m not going to mark him down for originality because 1) I think this time it was actually a deliberate repeat outfit and 2) it seems a bit unfair to mark him down for what he’s wearing in someone else’s imagination, lol.
Plus, there’s an addition to the outfit! The tyre iron is back and I am greatly pleased by it.
Tumblr media
He’s also wearing his pinkie-finger ring and the leather arm bands. The jeans are a bit tight, but who am I to stand in the way of him showing off his assets?
I will judge him for the jacket, though, because this is where he starts a fairly upsetting trend for the season of wearing a jacket like a shirt, buttoned all the way to the top.
Tumblr media
One episode he’s wearing a t-shirt in the middle of winter and then in another he’s so cold that his jacket must be done up to his throat. I’m not about it.
I will say that it’s a fairly nice jacket, though. (Although it does have an insane number of shiny buttons.) Plus, not only was it moveable enough for bathroom sex, but it also lends itself well to smashing up a bedroom. And in spite of all that, it still fits him pretty well and is the perfect length. That’s functional fashion right there.
Tumblr media
I’ve always really enjoyed him entering here right as Manny’s name pops up on screen, like yes it is I.
There’s also a really funny bend-and-snap moment, but with Rio it’s more like lean-and-smash.
Tumblr media
Look at that lil booty go.
7/10 -- The outfit, not his ass
Look #2
Tumblr media
A new shirt!! Someone (was it you, @riosnecktattoo?) once said that Rio was lured here under vague pretences and assumed it was a date, and I agree completely, because that shirt is not from his Crime Closet. That is 100% from his normal wardrobe, which sadly means we never see it again, but let’s enjoy it while it’s here, ok?
Tumblr media
Not only is this whole look way more casual than his normal getup, but the shirt is also green? We’ve seen more colour in the past few episodes than ever before and it’s frankly dizzying.
Especially when combined with an open popped collar?! Sir. Have mercy.
Tumblr media
It’s difficult to tell whether he’s wearing the entire shirt open or not, though it does seem that way (!!), and there’s a black t-shirt underneath.
It gets even worse: at one point you can see the arm band and the ring at the same time, plus he’s doing a shot, and in combination with this new Look, it’s all a lot to handle.
Tumblr media
You know this whole scene he’s just thinking I can’t believe I wore my date shirt for this.
Also, this is how he looks at Annie when she asks how much it would cost to “just smoke” Mary Pat:
Tumblr media
Bahahahahaha. She’s lucky, Hoodie Rio would’ve been even sassier.
8.5/10
Look #3
Tumblr media
We’re back to the Crime Closet, but I don’t even mind -- it’s no secret that I love this man in a blue shirt. It’s not the perfect 1x02 All Saints one, but it is very well-pressed until he creases it up with his dumb posture.
Even for this show, this scene was inordinately dark, so don’t mind my lightened screenshots so we can view this shirt in all its glory.
Tumblr media
It is actually ridiculous how good he looks in everything blue.
Tumblr media
This is one of my favourite parts of the scene, where he just straight up steals a chair from the people at the next table. What if that person had just gone to the bathroom, Rio?! Where are they supposed to sit when they get back?? Smh. Rude.
Also, he’s wearing his arm bands again but, more importantly, a new pair of shoes!!
Tumblr media
I said I wanted evidence of Rich Bitch Rio and this episode really delivered with a fourth pair of shoes. And not only that, but they have white in them?? I’m going to go lie down for another moment.
8/10
Look #4
Tumblr media
Ok, so you know what this means, right? Out of the four outfits in this episode, only one of them was all-black. We’re breaking records here, people.
Sadly, we will never get the iconic grey hoodie from 1x02 back, but apparently Rio did deign to remember that he looks amazing in grey and decided to remind us all, too, by stunting in this look right here.
Tumblr media
It’s another All Saints shirt -- not quite as luxurious-seeming as the blue one, but nice nonetheless. Difficult to tell if it’s from his Crime Closet or not since we never see it again, but I’m going to guess that Rio heard filming was happening and immediately put on something extra spiffy and rushed over, knowing this was his opportunity to get discovered.
He even wears his new pair of shoes, which we get a better look at!
Tumblr media
Look at those kicks! And these jeans aren’t as skinny!
I love this look. It also helps that he is just very giggly in it.
Tumblr media
Rio in grey hits different, don’t @ me.

RNM 2x07 - Como La Flor
Apologies for being so late this week!! Lots of translating to do, and research. Mucho gracias to @queenrikki for reviewing this one for me!
EPISODE SUMMARY:
OLD WOUNDS — Liz (Jeanine Mason) is forced to revisit a painful part of her past when her mother Helena (guest star Bertila Damas) shows up at the diner unexpectedly. Michael (Michael Vlamis) urges Maria (Heather Hemmens) to seek help after she experiences a strange vision, and Kyle’s (Michael Trevino) attempt to get Steph (guest star Justina Adorno) to open up doesn’t go as planned. Finally, Helena’s arrival in Roswell sends Rosa spiraling. Nathan Dean and Lily Cowles also star. Barbara Brown directed the episode written by Danny Tolli & Carolina Rivera (#207). Original airdate 4/27/2020.
DETAILS:
Max and Isobel both describing to Rosa how it feels to use (and control) your powers.
Isobel:
"Ground your intention.  Feel the current running through your body, your hands guiding it with purpose."
Max:
"Okay, draw energy from your spine…"
Arturo on Rosa:
"I heard a little mouse crying in her room this morning."
Escamoles - like Liz says in the episode, they're ant larvae. One article I found called them "the Caviar of the Mexican desert".
Helena calls Liz "mi corazón", which means "my heart".
"Arturito, te ves bien."
Arturo, you look good.
Adding "ito" to someone's name in Spanish can both be positive or negative.  It can refer to smallness or also tenderness (like an affectionate pet name).
@tasyfa pointed out that there was a little timeline error in this scene.  Arturo says that he hasn't seen Helena in 7 years, since Jim Valenti's funeral, but last season it was established in 1x12 that Valenti died in 2014.  Also, remember the show is a year behind reality right now, so it's still 2019. So off by 2 years.
The reason for Helena's visit - transferring her ownership of the Crashdown for Liz so that Liz can sponsor Arturo's residency for citizenship. I did a lot of research trying to understand and clarify why this is.  Thanks to those who weighed in when I was struggling to find a clear answer. Eventually I reached out to Define American, the non-profit org that provides support to the show on racial and immigration related issues.  Here's the response:
Tumblr media
The short version is that Liz has to meet minimum income requirements in order to sponsor Arturo, because she has to be able to certify that she can financially support him.  Since she's currently unemployed except for the Crashdown, transferring half of the ownership to her makes her a business partner and helps her to meet the income requirements.
The Spanish:
"¿Cuánto quieres, Mamá?"
How much do you want, Mama?
"She has a very thoughtful manicure."
If you don't understand, it's cool. I'm not going to explain here.  Feel free to DM me though! I won't judge, promise!!
Narrative thread about Max's nightmare/memory continues from 2x03 and 2x06.  Don't forget that 2x03 was just Isobel remembering it. Max was a hallucination. So when he brings it up here, it might be something they haven't discussed in a very long time.
The Spanish from Rosa on her red jacket:
"Eres una mujercita."
Basically translates to you're a little woman or young woman.  I assume the "cita" is supposed to be diminutive here.
"Mom is an opportunist.  If she found out she had a kid who came back from the dead she would use you to get to Anderson Cooper. And then she'd use him to promote her latest lounge singer gig."
"Isobel pays double.  Becky tax."
A Becky, according to common colloquial use, is an annoying white woman, usually entitled and privileged.
Lead bartender quit..meaning there's a job opening at the Pony…hmm. Wonder if any of our characters need a job... 🤔
Maria's vision:
Michael drops the change
Flash to Kyle dropping his keys & bending down to pick them up.
Kyle staring into a bright light.
Maria shouting his name.
"My heart was broken.  Liz ended things and a part of me died."
Max's story to Valenti… not all THAT far off from the truth.
Note: has anyone told him about Valenti investigating him? We know Liz and Isobel were questioned.  Michael was present when Liz was questioned. Kyle knows the whole theory his mom was pursuing. And he just wanders in there like nothing happened?
"Try leading several short staffed investigations with the mayor breathing down your neck."
Another subtle reference to the mayor, including the election banners hung around town in S2 and his "anti-immigrant agenda" which was referenced in S1.
Max has been with the department since he was 18 - this is the first time we learned that.  In 2x05 we learned he was there at 21. So that timeline has now been further clarified. Which also means he was hired during Jim Valenti's time as Sheriff.
"I need eyes on you at all times now."
Definitely implies a lack of trust, or possibly still wanting to keep an eye on him for the purpose of her investigation (not a fact, just a theory).
Steph tells Kyle that she's always hanging around the hospital because she's doing admin work for her dad.
"I'm starting to feel like you're a ghost who only I can see."
"Ask them if they can see me. Or if you were just talking to a ghost."
Note that ghosts have been a running theme this season with Rosa returning from the dead. This seems to be in line with that. Or are they subtly tying Steph to Rosa (I'm grasping at straws here, probably).
Liz leaves the safe on 3...but before she changes it is on 81. Helena leaves it on 78 after stealing the ring. Good continuity, RNM!
The whole "my mom hates cops" theme is a little confusing to me.  I mean, it makes sense given what we know about Helena. Except that she had an affair with Jim Valenti, who was… a cop. And also an addict.  Maybe it was different because they rehabbed together (just an assumption, not a fact). Or maybe the Jim experience contributed to her dislike of cops.
Liz...might be grasping at straws when she refers to police work as "something you love" to Max.  He didn't exactly seem enamoured by the job when we first met him in Season 1.
First time we learn Max and Isobel's father's name. And it is… Dave. 🤔
The Spanish Helena uses when she meets Max:
"Pero que guapo estas."
But how handsome you are.
"Cuidado Arturito."
Careful, Arturo…
Helena found Liz and Diego's wedding registry online.
“Look there are medical reasons for non-drug-induced hallucinations - epilepsy, schizophrenia…”
“My mom has a degenerative brain disease. My grandma did too. I've always known I'd be next.”
Helena wanted to be Selena.
Which fits with Liz's lounge singer comment earlier.
And the "drunkenly singing in the car with your daughters in the backseat" fits with the story Liz and Rosa discussed in 2x02 about the car accident they got into as kids with Helena driving drunk.
Helena shows Liz her ten years sober chip, suggesting that she's been sober since Rosa died, but Rosa finds pills in Helena's car later in the episode.  Oxycodone. The same drug that Rosa used to steal from her mom as a kid (which we learned about in 2x04) and the same drug that she and Kyle discussed when he was checking her health in 2x01.
During Helena's toast to Rosa:
Preciosa = precious
Rosa Linda… still not sure personally if this is a continuity error or a pet name.  I’m inclined to go with a pet name. Throughout the whole episode Helena uses lots of pet names, nicknames, diminutives to address people. Rosa Linda may be just another version of this since Rosa's middle name was pretty well established as Helena in Season 1 between her grave, memorial pamphlet, etc.
Kyle calls attention to Steph's bandage on her arm.  She says she gave blood, but it feels like she's evading.
Also she calls him McDreamy, which is a Grey's Anatomy reference. Kyle called himself McSexy (another Grey's nickname) in 1x08 as well.
Note: I've seen some people talk about the speech about his sick friend as being about Maria, but I think he's really talking about Steph.  Or both, vaguely. He's certainly trying to get Steph to open up to him. Here's what he says:
"I just found out a friend of mine is sick. And I can't do anything to help her. And I hate feeling helpless."
Only after Steph puts her walls back up, does he gesture to Mimi's files.
The Spanish:
"Oh, ándale, gùero."
Ándale is like, go! Or let's go! Gùero we discussed earlier...basically white boy.
Por favor - please
Rosa's art that we first saw in 2x05 now looks finished:
Tumblr media
Isobel's graffiti "In Pod We Trust"
Both Isobel and Rosa's graffiti:
Tumblr media
Isobel's assessment of Rosa's art
"That's a black hole. An unstoppable force of destruction. And it's getting closer. I see a girl looking into her own doom. She thinks it's inevitable, that she can't stop it, but she can. See, she created it. That means she can destroy it."
Rosa on Isobel's efforts to help her:
"You and Max, you keep talking about harnessing emotion and grounding myself, right? But I can't do that.  It is in my DNA to be screwed up. Literally. My mom's mentally ill. So, so am I. I was broken long before Noah did what he did. That's why he chose me to prey on.  That's probably why he chose you too."
Maria on her grandmother:
"When I was a child my Grandma Patty was the only adult who understood my make-believe world. Thing is, I was six.  So my favorite things about her were just illness, I guess…"
Maria on her mom:
"She was always kind of out there.  By the time I realized it was more than that, I just became obsessed with money. Wanted to be able to take care of her. I invested everything Grandma Patty left me, and I worked, scrounged.  It was about three days after my mom was finally fired from her job at the Pony, I bought the place."
Maria's blood does not contain the alien protein that Kyle found in the Pod Squad and Rosa after being in the Pod for a decade. (and yes, he actually said Pod Squad, which feels like an OG fandom victory)
"Look, there is one thing I noticed in your grandmother's file. Her insurance company is the same one that paid for my dad's cancer treatments...My dad got cancer because of an alien incident at Caulfield Prison. A fake insurance company established by Project Shepherd covered his bills."
"Okay so my grandmother got sick at the same alien prison where your mother died?"
More Spanish (there's lots of it this week).
Helena, when she gestures to the present:
"Abre tu regalo."
Open your gift.
Quinces is just slang for Quinceanera.
Just in case you're not familiar with quinceaneras (Liz's was also referenced in 1x02).
"Mija, me enseñas tus prom photos?"
Daughter, show me your prom photos.
Regarding the power outage.  Liz thought it was Max. Max thought it was Rosa. But the wire is frayed, like it was cut or chewed through. So it wasn't alien power related.  When Arturo finds the wire though, he says, "Must have been a little mouse." Which is how he referred to Rosa earlier in the episode. So the question is, does he actually think it was a mouse? Or does he think Rosa cut the wire? And if Rosa did cut the wire, then why? To distract them while she goes after her mom's car?
In the big Liz/Helena argument, Helena calls Max “a güerito cop”.  Güero means white person, similar to the more commonly used gringo.  But by adding the “ito” onto the end (like discussed before), Helena is basically diminuitizing Max.  She’s using the “smallness” above to basically imply that he’s some white nobody.
“I may not be the PTA mom who made cookies for bake sales or hosted sleepovers, but I sacrificed everything to come to this country to give you a better life.”
This is...not actually true.  Liz and Rosa are both natural born U.S. citizens, born in Roswell.  So she didn’t “come to this country” for that reason. She was already here when Liz and Rosa came into the picture.  And it’s not like she came pregnant with Rosa or anything, since Rosa is Jim Valenti’s daughter.
The ring that Helena took was ARTURO'S mother's ring.  It wasn't even Helena's family's heirloom.
Liz and Arturo sharing flan for dessert.  At the start of the episode before Helena arrived they discussed making flan for Rosa.
Arturo admits that he always knew the truth about Rosa's heritage. (*fistpump* that's one of my headcanons coming true).
"Rosa es mi hija, siempre y para toda la vida."
Rosa is my daughter, always and for life.
"Maybe you're right. I am playing the hero. Just like you're playing the politician's perfect arm candy.  See, I did a little digging. And your boyfriend, Dirk-- he ran for city council. It's very impressive. But there's no mention of your daughters. I'm guessing Dirk doesn't even know about Liz or Rosa.  Does he know anything about you, Helena? 'Cause it would be such a shame if he found out about a little town called Roswell."
Helena gives Max the ring, but keeps the box… maybe that's what Helena really wanted?
Huevos = eggs.  Basically, slang for balls.
Tumblr media
"I know that face.  You uncovered a massive conspiracy."
"I checked the Caulfield drives. No sign of a Patricia DeLuca, but there was a Patricia Harris. Her maiden name. She signed up to participate in an experimental trial. Government was interested in weaponizing alien abilities. They wanted to create super soldiers. Your grandma was one of the first human subjects."
"Kind of wish I was an alien instead."
"What happened to the experiment?"
"It was a total failure. Caulfield shut it down in the '70s after people started dying. I don't understand how your grandmother got involved."
"I do. Henrietta Lacks, Tuskegee, Holmesburg.  The DeLucas aren't the first black people to be secretly experimented on."
Highly encourage you to read these if you're unfamiliar with any of these references.  It's African-American history (and really a black mark on U.S. history) that's rarely taught in schools.
Henrietta Lacks:
Tuskegee:
Holmesburg:
Reality versus Maria's flashes… great gifset by @rosaortecho on this here:
Kyle rips his jacket, staggers out to the parking lot, drops his keys, and is almost hit by a car, but Michael throws him out of the way with his powers (and Kyle still ends up injured because he lands on a glass bottle).
"Now that we know your illness is related to Caulfield we can find a cure for it."
"Maybe it's not an illness. I saw the future today, Guerin. When I first found out Grandma Patty was experimented on, I was furious.  But what if my genetic inheritance isn't just injustice? It's also actual superpowers. Saved a life today. And not just any life-- Kyle Valenti's. Tomorrow he's gonna turn around and save five more lives."
Liz and Rosa's dueling big sister act is super fascinating.  Rosa admits that she wasn't going to burn the car, and then she saw Liz crying, felt helpless, and that's when her powers went all wacky and caused it to explode.
Meanwhile, Liz has spent the whole episode trying to keep Rosa safe from Helena, and is trying to comfort her here by talking about Helena's sobriety.
But--Rosa stole Helena's pills, so she knows Helena is not sober, and she doesn't tell Liz that.  Why? To protect her.
At some point these two should probably stop keeping secrets to protect each other and start actually sharing what they know.
Kyle stitches himself up.
Steph quoted in this scene:
"I was up in the gallery contemplating American downfall thanks to progressive socialism."
"People tend to bail when things get real. I'm not into that."
Cameron's car was impounded a couple hours away.
Max is turning in his badge and gun and is turning down desk duty to search for Cam.
Isobel and Michael's discussion at the Pony:
"Do you think that Noah chose me because I was already broken?"
"I think you are the only one of us who ever keeps it together."
"I'm serious, Michael. The night that drifter attacked me, why am I the only one who started blacking out? I mean, Max literally murdered a man, but I'm the one who breaks?"
"You were traumatized. We were kids. At that age, trauma gets etched on to your soul."
"But what if it's not in my soul? What if it's in my DNA? Look, my whole life, I've played Stepford wife, because I thought that's what I was supposed to do. But...I need to understand myself now. I need to know where I'm from.  And if I don't know who my biological parents are, how am I ever gonna know who I really am?"
"What are you saying, Iz?"
"I know that we said we shouldn't look into the past, but…"
"It keeps pulling you back. Me too. I spent my whole life thinking I'd build a ship and blast off into the ether. And then the minute I decide to leave that all behind and focus on this good thing in front of me, I'm sucked back in. Maria's family was experimented on at Caulfield. I need to find out more so I can find a cure for her illness."
Rosa takes one of her mom's pills. 😭

heyy so i know that it wasnt your post but i was hoping could elaborate on the legends part of that post about negative points about dctv. english isnt my first language (and im a little lazy) but i really want to fully understand it. " yes, you can enjoy legends, but yes you should also acknowledge ....within five minutes (they don’t even mention Jax’s chronic pain anymore)."
yeah sure thing, hopefully i can expand on this well enough:
…it’s been incredibly antiblack,…
2x04, “abominations” was on all accounts, a white man’s attempt to show the viewers what racism was like, and pretend that it’s over now so we should feel… good? they put the two black mains (the only characters of colour as series regulars on the show) undercover by having a historically important black man killed so one of the mains could impersonate him while the other pretended to be a slave.
(i will give this episode 1 thing and it is jax saying “I get it might be difficult for you to understand this, but I’ve been black my entire life, Grey. And honestly, I can’t think of a time period we could go to where I wouldn’t face some sort of racism.”)
2x16, “doomworld” was specifically antiblack because of amaya’s death. this episode aired at a time when the flash was going through a season-long plot to save iris, and having two WOC mains dying to affect everyone else on their show is uh…. fridging. where female characters are often killed, maimed, or otherwise assaulted for male characters to feel anger, sadness, emotions at all, or to be motivated to go after the “villain” of the story. in this case, we have leonard freezing and shattering amaya, in the most literal sense dctv has ever gotten with the term “fridging” – all because the writers and producers wanted us to be able to feel how mick and leonard’s partnership was unable to be fixed. they wanted “real consequences” for that episode and the way to do it is … kill the black woman. i guess. after she spent most of the episode brainwashed by damien darhk and had to be ‘saved’ from her brainwashing from sara and nate.
one might argue that almost everyone died in the doomworld universe, but amaya was the only one to die in the actual episode “doomworld” and her death was about her being mick’s friend. compare it to ray’s death – he had his heart ripped out by eobard because ray is too trusting. it fits him. he has a big heart. we even saw it. he got a death 100% about him. amaya did not.
…aired an episode chock full of anti-Asian specific racism,…
2x03, “shogun”, was uh… i’m not sure how to describe this one so i’m mostly sourcing from other people here, but this review by a japanese viewer is the best way to explain, here’s her summary:
In grotesquely stereotypical White Saviour fashion, Nate has a fling with Masako Yamashiro who is engaged to marry the shogun Tokugawa Iemitsu.
Ray’s suit is stolen and he does a nonsensical stereotypical “sensei” montage trying to push Nate to embrace and understand his new metahuman abilities.
The team arrives later on to help them fight the shogun and his samurai, all while making tacky quips about ninjas because the mispronounced Japanese by supposedly Japanese characters just wasn’t enough to fill up the offensive quota.
Ray and Nate have to make the sacrifice of destroying Ray’s suit to defeat the shogun and of course Nate undermines Masako’s opportunity to be the hero because it’s a White Saviour trope episode, after all.
and as ari said best, “the writers watched three whole episodes of naruto before writing this episode”
honestly the singular good thing about this episode was that they hired an asian director, kevin tancharoen, aka the love of my life, but there’s only so much he can do with a shitty script. at least the episode looked visually amazing.
(let me know if you need more on this point since i’m pasting from other people here)
…erased a Jewish man’s identity,…
i’m not 100% sure if bette means martin stein or ray palmer so let’s talk about both.
martin stein, in his 8 appearances in the flash before moving over to legends of tomorrow, mentioned his faith in at least half of those. he has now been in 33 legends of tomorrow episodes + flash again for the “invasion!” crossover + kinda “duet” and hasn’t mentioned it once. he participated in a christmas dinner with the team, we’ve seen his wife clarissa in various forms, and now lily and still no mention. i’d have to look closer at the set of his office on the waverider for anything in the background, but i doubt there’s anything. the closest we’ve seen is mick congratulating him on now having a daughter with “mazel tov” in 2x10.
ray is a little trickier and i had lenny rewrite my explanation here but dctv is all about showing characters like felicity, martin, and rory, with big references to holidays, their menorahs, the torah, and less about showing smaller references like dropping yiddish into a conversation or their quirks about keeping kosher. since we don’t have any of them (except snapper carr on supergirl) with these small references, we just see generic characters, who everyone assumes to be agnostic. the few pieces of evidence i think we have for ray being jewish are donna smoak’s excitement over he and felicity dating, and that he and martin are the most educated people on the waverider, with how judaism places a strong value on education. so when ray plans a christmas dinner, it’s not earned as an ironically jewish act, it’s just white guy.
….and fixed someone’s disability within five minutes…
nate heywood’s backstory was that his parents more or less had him in a bubble, because they were afraid his hemophilia would cause him to die. hemophilia is a disorder that interrupts the body’s ability to clot blood, which is how people normally stop bleeding from even small cuts or bruises. if you have hemophilia, if you start bleeding inside your body, then you are in serious danger.
basically, it was the writers’ attempt to give a character an excuse for not having had as exciting of a life as the rest of the characters have had, and a reason why developing steel powers to protect his skin would be personally relevant to him.
what would have been more interesting is if he kept the hemophilia and gained the steel powers anyway, as a first and more solid line of defense than his skin was, preventing him from bleeding at all. if i was in his situation with hemophilia and suddenly gained steel powers i literally would not turn them off for fear of … sara with knives, probably, and any small accident near her meaning not being able to stop bleeding. but you know, ray’s super serum cured his hemophilia, since there is no current real world cure for it at all. this is not the first time we’ve seen miracle cures on dctv though, with… felicity. malcolm. leonard. hartley. charles mcnider. probably more.
…(they don’t even mention Jax’s chronic pain anymore).
the last time we heard about jax’s chronic pain, his torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), was 1x05 when he had to run across the prison yard. he was limping after he got there, and limping when he got back on the ship. we’ve seen jax run a few times with no negative results, implying gideon fixed jax’s pain, i guess, yet another miracle cure.
people with things like deafness (like me!), or blindness, or chronic pain, or hemophilia, or missing limbs, or partial paralysis very very rarely have positive representation on screen, and here dctv is, curing everyone. especially for ailments and disabilities that don’t have cures, or are even part of people’s identities. we’re seeing characters go through a healing process that we will never have (or don’t want), and the writers just keep writing more “miracle cure” situations. “how tragic, look, we fixed their problems perfectly” for nate’s hemophilia or leonard’s missing hand or “look at this assistive technology that makes their lives 100% perfectly back to normal” for malcolm’s hand, felicity’s spine, charles’s vision, and hartley’s tinnitus, and not often showing the struggles even with the technology.it’s the disability equivalent of the white hero complex.
if anyone wants to add anything or correct me please do since i am not black, asian, or jewish, nor do i specifically have hemophilia or chronic pain.

The fifth ensemble of "Dead Air" (Season 2, Episode 11) features one of Miss Fisher's statement coats, a grey tweed with white panels, a black blouse, her black wide-legged pants, and her classic cat burglar hat.
Phryne's entire look is a wonderful example of reusing previous pieces in a new way. Her heathered tweed coat, created by loosely weaving black and white elements together, was previously seen in "Raisins and Almonds" (1x05). It has white panels set into the fabric along the back seam, the outer edge of the sleeves, and lines that start at her underarm and zig-zag down to the hem. The side closure is a black embroidered hook and eye set to help it cross over her chest.
While worn over a white outfit in 1x05, we see it here over her all black casual home outfit (minus the cardigan) seen earlier in this episode. Her black blouse has matching loose ties that follow her v-neckline, and is a staple in her season two wardrobe, showing up six times so far (2x04, 2x05, 2x06, twice in 2x08, and earlier in 2x11). Its paired with her classic black silk faille pants and accented with black leather gloves.
She accessorizes with her silver capped onyx teardrop earrings, and a brooch featuring a white carved flower set into a black oval frame, worn earlier in 2x08, and black heels. As per usual, Phryne adds a fabulous hat to her silhouette. Appropriately known as her 'cat-burglar beret', this black circular beret has been worn twelve times so far - (twice in 1x05, 1x06, 1x09, twice in 1x10, 2x01, 2x03, 2x04, 2x05, 2x06, 2x07, and here in 2x11).

I saw smt that I missed in 2x04 promo and my theory about alec being possessed seems more valid, the final scene seems like a black and white feeding from a camera but although it is far it seems when alec looks up his eyes are one color and grey almost like isabelle's demonic black
yep i think he might be possessed too

Scandal
El peor: 5x18 Till Death Do Us Part (6.8) — Jake no gusta.
Pretty Little Liars
Veronica Mars
Six Feet Under
