I made.this! Can you see that happiness on my face? Sitting on my knees is hard for me. I get spasms in my legs I can't control and they can go on for hours. But Inhad too for this project. What a joy to create something with my hands that I'll be using for a long time. The meditation area at the 2nd Life Curaçao Workshop is a very serene spot under a big Mango tree. When I coach someone there, we many times end up lunch or eat dinner together. Sometimes even with a campfire. This little table is going to fit there real well. A deep intimate connection

A deep intimate connection

I have this deep intimate connection with myself. It is deeper than touch and filled with an intense fulfilling emotion. It is a strength covering a core of vulnerability. It would almost feel unreal if I didn’t experience it myself.

It is almost five years ago that I saw someone close her eyes for ever in my arms and I made her a promise:

“I will live for the both of us.”

I found an old Pothos growing outside, completely neglected. If I could, I would've taken the whole plant, but since I couldn't... I took a few strings, soaked them in water overnight and cut and cleaned them up. These were two little left overs that I just couldn't say goodbye to. And, thank goodness I didn't because they are sprouting! Did you know Pothos is also known as Devil's Ivy because it's so hard to kill? Learning so much from saving a plant. Since my outpatient medical procedure, I had the time to really digest what I've experienced for the past ten years. I worked so hard on myself, on my dreams, while I never felt I had a "safe zone." The past year, I have created it myself. Two years ago I saw one of my "safe zones", @2ndlifecuracao evaporate while slowly getting out of my reach. The pandemic hot. I didn't blink twice. I took on an opportunity that unexpectedly came on my path, @innovationcur and I didn't look back for there was a future to create. I am in that future now. I am living in my "safe zone"! All the medical challenges of late are a test, and as I'm patiently recovering, I see what I've created in the past ten years, with the last year being the cherry on top. I heard someone say, "Sir, you might not walk again." While lying in hospital bed, from a neurologist, May 19th, 2012. I accomplished most of what I set out to do since. I learned to walk again. I learned to become a business owner. I learned to love again. And, for the first time in my life, I learned to be really free. I am beyond proud of how intentionally I chose to live. And I hope I'm granted the strength to continue to share this lust for life. Stories of a Friday night... We met for a meeting with @kluivertdogrescuecenter for @2ndlifecuracao and @herbologylifestyle to make sure the Pop Up Shop is restocked and ready to go for all visitors that want to support better animal welfare on the island We needed to have a snack and drink for another meeting on @mambobeachblvd, this time at @thegreenhousecuracao for Corporate Wellness Events. We stopped for a cocktail and some desperate catching up at @elenasteakseafood. After a whirlwind of a week it was just what the doctor ordered. Stroling around we wandered into @ilbarbieresc for an accidental but exponential third meeting that left us so hungry we had to stop at @fuococuracao to refill. Here is a #ThrowbackThusrdsay. Since I can remember I've been a warrior against injustice. Whether it's been human or animals. I guess that's the Pirate in me. Four years ago I felt compelled to honor the request from @i_animal2012 to participate at a fair to raise awareness on how we treat animals on our island. They are too often chained to trees in the blistering sun with no water and no food. So I let them chain me to a tree with a strap around my neck while trying to sell my upcycled @2ndlifecuracao products. People watched and laughed uncomfortably. It was the least I could do to bring attention to something I stood for. It got me much more exposure than I thought it would. Front page on a local newspaper and various articles, among one of them @humansofwillemstad. But the most important was a year ago at a cash register when a lady approached me, still moved by what she had seen. Do you know you can make a difference? You might not be able to change the world but you can influence one person, maybe even two and that makes a lot difference in a world where everyone thinks it's about them. To be a power woman there is no other rule than to build the people around you up. Even when life brakes a part of you off. This meaningful lady is @rossanakluivert. Kluivert Dog Rescue Center asked me for help last December and I happily obliged. Animal welfare is a measurement of the society I want to be part of. We need better information not just education. Schools can barely handle what they are handed as it is. And we need to learn to treat our fellow earthlings with the respect that they deserve, humans, animals, trees. We are all part of our eco system. The only way to do that is by joining forces. Raising our values, increasing our worth and be conscious about our actions, we can't only rely on our governments. The action starts with you, even when it's posing for a picture. I'm proud to support @kluivertdogrescuecenter Pop Up Shop on @mambobeachblvd with upcycled items from @2ndlifecuracao. That way I can help clean my island while I make a "living" educating and hopefully help adopt and sterilize as many dogs as possible on this island.
