Author's Note: I gave this old ask another try because the fic I integrated it into ages ago totally bombed lol. I'm currently practicing blurbs, let me know what you think!

Warnings: 18+ vague/implied drinking & sex, no pronouns are used but there's a mention of the reader wearing a colored lip product (could be lipstick, gloss, tinted balm.. whatever you want it to be)

Despite the surrounding chatter and pulsating music, it’s as though there’s dense cotton packed tightly against his eardrums; every decibel reverberating off the walls is dampened. That charming grin of Eddie’s wavers because your eyes have caught his from across the room. This alone has the ongoing conversation with his friend becoming an afterthought. Everything in his peripheral vision fades to grey while you stand there in vivid color.

Shyly, you avert your gaze away and face the bar you’re leaning against. Eddie watches as you sneak another glance back at him from over your shoulder, his eyes unsurprisingly still fixed in your direction. Then, a drop-dead, persuasive smile graces your features. Knowing it’s directed at him, a ferocious blaze ignites within the confines of his ribcage.

The conversation flows smoothly like the liquid courage being poured into crystal. Your liquor-tainted and mulberry-painted lips press against his. Not long after, he’s leading you by the hand to his van.

With your head on his pillow and your back against his mattress, seductive hands fumble. There’s no use in trying to catch his breath when his heart is thudding this intensely. Eddie’s hot breath fans against your bare shoulder, his hips rolling rhythmically and fervently. Save for the slivers of moonlight peeking through the bent blinds, your intertwined bodies are enveloped in darkness.

Few words are exchanged, but he feels everything that could possibly be said. It’s different. Good different, real different. Your nails dig into his fair skin, fingers splaying across the flexing expanse of his back.

Permeating through his entire being down to the very bottom of his soul, it’s unlike anything he’s ever felt before. Eddie’s pupils expand, fighting to gather enough light to witness every expression and movement you make beneath him, because of him.

Fast asleep, Eddie snores softly. Lying comfortably on his stomach, his arm is loosely draped across your belly. Cautiously, you edge toward the side of the mattress, taking great care in resting his hand gently on the bed so as not to wake him. Just as you’re seated upright, the shift causes a mattress spring to squeak.

Eddie stirs slightly, his bliss and whisky-weighted eyelids fluttering open to your moonlit silhouette. “Where are you going?” He asks, his voice coarse.

“I just need to use the bathroom quick,” You reply while extending your leg out, blindly feeling the floor with your foot to locate your clothes.

After rolling onto his side to face you, Eddie tucks his hand under his head. “Okay,” He mumbles, his eyes closed once more.

As Eddie lies there, a faint yet delighted smile rests on his lips. His senses remain attuned, despite being on the verge of falling back asleep. The hand not beneath his head reaches out to feel the lingering warmth you left behind on his sheets. It’s dissipating by the second, the chill of the room slowly taking over. Good thing they won’t go cold for too much longer.

But the anticipated sound of the bathroom door clicking shut fails to reach his ears. What he does hear is the scraping screech of the front door’s lock, followed by the rattle of the blinds.

Just as quickly as it had ignited, the flame in his chest chokes. It suffocates to nothing but soot.

It’s already over before anything could begin.
