my thoughts on the "fanon-isation" of sam (and his newest ba)

(taken from a long winded text conversation i had - slight NSFW talk below the cut) [WORD COUNT: 1047 WORDS, IM SORRY]

psa: while i am complaining about it, it's just my own thoughts, and none of which is an actual criticism of erik, feel free to add your opinions, as per the usual

Maybe its coz time is passing, and the relationship is developing but i feel like i’m enjoying the dynamic between sam and darlin’ a lot less than i did at the beginning. It feels a lot less “human-realistic” and more “tailored for fan preference” (you sam fans gotta hear me out on that bit okay).

Clearly erik isn’t “pandering” towards the fandom or anything, however there HAS been a change in sam’s writing that i don’t know if anyone else can see, or whether it’s just me.

 Fight me, but i feel like whatever’s happening to guy, the reverse is happening to sam. In the sense of where guy is gaining lore and becoming more plot relative, sam seems to be losing that position, which doesn’t cover all of my opinion, but it’s the simplest way i can think of putting it. 

He feels more “disconnected” as a character and I wish i could write this more specifically but there’s almost no “good” way of putting it, i’m just trying to put my vibes about this into readable thoughts in a way that’s somewhat well communicated.

It feels like he’s being diminished, where there’s less of the gruff dad-type personality, protective semi-asshole, gently-caring-in-a-non-tsundere-way, and a lot more “here’s your standard cookie-cutter southern bf who just so happens to be a vampire, however that’s essentially irrelevant because it’s never referenced in a way that’s plot-needed”. 

It’s quite flat and 2D now in a way that i can’t explain, so therefore don’t yell at me for saying it. While he’s still hot ofc, I don’t enjoy his character nearly as much as i did pre-quinn era, which is a shame because it’s difficult to let go of the fact that he’s one of my favourites, but the energy’s shifted and it’s “off” now. 

Maybe it’s because I’ve changed as a person in the last four years, which i know i have, but it doesn’t seem to be just character development, in the nicest way possible, it feels like he’s being written “out of character”.

Character development in any way is good, I’m a writer myself, I would know that, but those words aren’t what i would personally use to describe it. Forgive me, but i just felt like i needed to get everything out so i could see if anyone else agreed. 

You could say “it’s not that deep” but I’m autistic; this is my special interest, so as much as you can say otherwise, it is in fact “that deep” for me. 

Don’t get me wrong, i still thoroughly love sam as a whole, complete character, and the more recent videos that i don’t like as much could never take that away from me, so again, don’t come at me saying i’m “hating on him”, because i’m not.

This is as constructive of a “rant” that i can make it, and yes, my anonymous asks are turned off. I’m not gonna go on about how “i’m not criticising erik, BUT-” because if you know me at all, you’ll know i would never send hate towards him. 

With the “fanon-isation”, that’s just a word i threw out there to header this whole thing. I meant it mostly in reference to how a large part of the fandom seems to idealise or romanticise darlin’s character, and somewhat how that seems to be translating to the canon of their relationship with sam, and thus effecting him as well. But that wasn’t the right wording - the sam fangroup is big, and i’m already throwing myself to enough proverbial wolves as it is.

The thing that sparked all of this - and if you don’t have the patreon then you probably won’t know - is that Sam biting darlin’ for the first time happened in his most recent ba, which wasn’t something that i really liked. It felt weird to me that, even though it was fully communicated and both parties were okay, it would happen FOR THE FIRST TIME in a sexual setting. While it made sense for darlin’s character, it made less sense for sam’s.

 It also means that (at least as i’m writing this) the non-patrons won’t experience the very plot-important aspect that is sam biting darlin’ for the first time, considering how built-up it’s been throughout their storylines, it didn’t feel right.

It almost felt like the only reason the reverse-comfort audio even previewed for a ba was because THAT was the video that fell on release day. The circumstances just didn’t feel right for it, not given sam’s past and everything that happened in the quinn arc. 

i figured it would at least happen with a sit down conversation, in an sfw audio, even if it was ON patreon, but free. Of course - knowing darlin’ - it was going to be sexual at some point, but i didn’t think it would happen for the first time.

 I’m not going into any more specifics on the audio itself, but those are my thoughts on that bit. Sam bites darlin’, and i didn’t like it. My gripe is neither that it happened, nor that it’s not available to the public, but that nothing about the setting or the build up felt right, and it felt like it happened “just because”, which was a big let down for me, personally.

It wasn’t even the first time I’ve gotten the gist that something was “up”, THAT happened in sam’s hbs 2023 audio (NOT the ba, just the youtube access one) where it definitely felt more like “this is what the audience wants” because yes, who wouldn’t want to see a hot southerner get down and dirty in a club? But it didn’t feel right, and I couldn’t put my finger on it at the time, but more so now it seemed like fandom influence of a sorts.

Almost like I was reading a fanfic or something that was posted on here (no hate of course, I would say my "platform" on here is mainly constructed of fan based content, just that it seemed more “headcanon-y” and less Just Canon) rather than something that erik himself wrote.

TL;DR: sam feels more and more “out of character” to me as a long-term viewer, and it all came to a head in the most recent bonus audio

Alfons Sylvatica x OC insert (Marguerite) Fluff/Smut

𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐬: just some modern day cuteness with some smut (because its alfons and this man is the most emotionally constipated 2d character i've ever seen.)

𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠: smut.

The day started as any other did, waking to the warm sunlight through the tall window as it splashed over the bed and soaked into the sheets. Marguerite rolled over to look at her boyfriend, admiring his lashes as they cast soft shadows over his cheeks. His brow furrowed as he shifted slightly in his sleep, nudging the pillow with his cheek as dark eyes slid open slightly like a tired cat. Once Alfons managed to ascertain her form, he reached an arm out, pulling himself up and over her to rest his torso on top of hers.

“Oof! You’re heavy!” She wheezed, pushing at his bare chest until he sat up a bit, smiling lazily at her, “But I like how soft my girlfriend is.” He teased, gently nuzzling her neck and trailing kisses down her body, over her breasts and down her ribs to the curves between her thighs.

“You’re impossible, she groaned softly, pressing her hands to her face, “Horny bastard.” She teased, reaching down to lightly and playfully tug at his raven hair, earning a signature and good-natured ‘ahha!’ from him. His lips curled up happily as he stared at her smiling face while she peered down over her chest, feeling her dainty fingers tenderly comb through his hair like she was drifting them through silken threads, a dreamy look on her face as she only smiled wider at him the longer she stared. Such a pleasant sight.

“Nn. How pretty.” He pressed a kiss to her stomach just above her hips before shifting back up to kiss her lips. Soft and short peck after peck. Eventually, though, they grew deeper and longer, Alfons stroking at Marguerite’s bottom lip with his tongue as though he were softly begging her. When playfully denied, he took to pressing more firmly and coaxing her mouth open with his, groaning softly and flipping her on her stomach. One arm wound around her waist to keep her in place as he shifted his hips to align with hers, a hand holding her hips at the right angle as he slid his member along her folds “That’s it, just like that.” He coaxed softly, “Such a darling.” He hummed, moving them both so he could lean over her as he slid in, smoothly rolling his hips as she clutched at her pillow tightly.

“Alfons…damn it, I have rehearsal today!” She groaned softly in protest, face half hidden in the fluffy cushion, eyes slipping closed as he drilled into her further, hearing the wet sounds between them as he moaned softly with her, “Perhaps you’ll need to be a bit late, then, mm, especially when you’re only sucking me deeper.” Alfons hissed teasingly in her ear, “almost like you’re greedy for more. Mm..!” He pulled her hips to his each time he bucked his hips, leaving Marguerite breathless as she struggled to contain her moans, “Al…fons…!” Her voice grew breathy as she closed her eyes, leaning back into him the more he stroked at her ribs with the pads of his thumbs with each passing thrust.

“Margue..rite..” he breathed raggedly, back arching as he leaned over her, kissing the side of her neck and sucking hard at the skin there, “Mmf. That’s my girl.” He purred as he worked his fingers between hers gently while they woke each other up with slow, tender touches and a warm embrace.

Welcome to the Anime Awareness Project!

My name is Lucian and I have started this project in order to give lists of trigger tags for the anime you love or wish to watch!

We are not saying the anime you love is bad, even if we don't enjoy it ourselves.

Its okay to like a dark red anime or hate a green one. No one is here to take what you love away, only to make it more accessible to others.

How does the AAP work?

I work on this project in my free time and I don't get payed to do this! I watch an anime, making notes every time a potential trigger comes up. This can be smoking, blood, breaking glass, high pitched noises, or anything you ask to be specifically triggered!

Please keep in mind that I only review sub, which means if there's anything heinous in the dub and its not easily found online, it WILL be missed!

We go on a colour system from Green to Dark Red, and from now on I will also be adding Flash Levels.

Green: Anime that have very few triggers in them, and the content of those potential triggers are very light.

Yellow Green: Anime that contain a little more than the above, but are still very safe overall.

Yellow: Anime that fall here usually have some larger triggers like a lot of loud noises, or guns present, things that wouldnt be awful, but can need a little prep to see for some.

Yellow Orange: As with above, but has more of those things or some slightly heavier things.

Orange: Anime that fall here can be quite emotional, or deal with some mildly heavy topics, like loss or grief. Many anime will end up here.

Red Orange: As with above, but likely heavier, or more intense.

Red: Red level anime are extremely common. They deal with very heavy topics, have many extreme emotions, and may contain large amounts of blood or violence. The majority of anime in this category may not be suitable for underage watchers, this is up to veiwer discretion entirely. You'll see anime like Death Parade, Full Metal Alchemist, and Lycoris Recoil here.

Anime here may also contain one or more moments in which Dark Red level triggers occur, but they don't happen enough to bump up the level.

Dark Red: This category is a recent edition to distinguish a standard red level anime from anime with illegal or immoral content within them. This includes extreme triggers like r@pe, SA, CSAM, 1ncest, z00philia, and things of that nature. L0licon and sh0tacon also go onto this category as they are considered CSAM by me. This category is the reason I started this project. Do not go into these anime lightly.

Flash levels:

Light

Medium

High

Intense

Each review will have this label for convenience, but every situation is different. All anime moving forward will have a note containing the types and most common colours of flashes, and when possible, time stamps.

How we deal with adult entertainment oriented content:

We will not review hentai here. If its p0rn for p0rns sakes, youre on your own. Many popular anime contain adult oriented content, and those anime will be marked with a header bar of pink warning signs.

What is considered anime for the purpose of the AAP?

The Japanese definition of anime is anything animated, be it 2D, 3D, or any other form of animation. For the purpose of this project, we are using a much more western definition.

We review Japanese made animation, usually 2D. This does not include games or visual novels at this time as that isn't something I can access easily.

We also don't deal in manga here as I find it too hard to follow while also constantly stopping to take notes.

Researchers at Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden have used computer simulations and machine learning to better understand how 2D halide perovskite materials function, paving the way for more efficient and stable solar cells.

These perovskites, seen as promising alternatives to traditional silicon in solar energy and optical applications, are cost-effective and efficient in absorbing and emitting light. However, their tendency to degrade quickly has been a challenge.

By simulating the atomic behavior of 2D perovskites under different conditions, the research team gained detailed insights into how the materials respond to heat, light, and other factors.

Their findings highlight the role of organic molecules in controlling atomic movements within the material layers, which affect the material's optical properties and stability.
