Chapter 2

Captain (Levi Ackerman X reader)

tw: some violence, mention of blood

Two comrades; humanity’s Strongest and humanity’s Bravest. A bond between Two warriors who have nothing to lose.

Today was another expedition, you and many other people began preparing themselves with equipment. People have begun spreading the rumor that you and Levi were a “ thing”, but neither you or Levi ever acknowledged their comments. Sure it bothered you, but you had other things to worry about. Erwin had instructed us into our groups, you had thought that you and Levi would be put together in a group.. The difference was Erwin had assigned both Levi and you as captains of different groups.

“ Levi, you will take your squad to the southern border, Y/N you will take your squad to the western border, Both Levi and Y/N will be your captains in today’s mission. You will listen and abide by their orders.” Erwin announces.

You glance over to see Levi and notice that he looked deep in thought, so you looked away before you could be caught. You had never done a mission on your own, could you even lead? Would your comrades listen to you, what if they..

“ Y/n, There will be many titans waiting.. They have gotten too close to the Western wall. If they get any closer, the western wall will be compromised.. Levi, the same goes for you, I trust in both of your capabilities.” Ewin addresses both Levi and I, to which Levi and you in unison say “Yes commander.”

Moments pass of both of your squads insuring they have all that they need.

“ don’t get yourself killed y/n”

“ I could say the same about you Levi.”

We went our separate ways, waiting to see what was to come.

It had been hours on end of you and your squad venturing out to the western border.

“ Y/N how much longer, we’re on open ground.. we should have arrived by now.” A cadet asks from the back.

“ Commander Erwin instructed us to take the hill pathway. I'm assuming we are to encounter some titans in the process. The goal is probably to get rid of any future titans who are going in the direction of the city.”

“ But wouldn’t we be out of gear by the time we reach the wall… how are we to defend ourselves?” Another asks

“ Then I guess you better be smart about your attacks, it’s your decision to live or not.” You respond by answering the person’s stupid question.

What kind of question is that, if you’re smart about your attacks and your weapon usage, that wouldn’t be an issue. But of course you had to deal with simple minded people.

You’re brought out of your internal thoughts when you hear a scream. “ Y/N, A TITAN IS COMING FROM THE RIGHT!”

You turn to face where your fellow team mate told you the giant was coming from. That was until you noticed you heard other fast and hard footsteps coming from your right as well.

*STOMP*

Another set of loud steps coming from behind. That was when you knew you were surrounded…

“EVERYONE ASSUME POSITION! WE’RE SURROUNDED! WE ARE TO DIVIDE 3 WAYS! RACE TOWARDS THE WOODS! AND DO NOT HESITATE, IF YOU SEE AN OPENING, ATTACK!”

Your group disperses into its groups into the woods to find higher ground to use as leverage. Your whole squad consisted of 21 individuals. So every group had 7 people, that would be enough for every group to work together to overcome any titans. Once you reach the woods you used your piston shot grapple hooks to rise up to higher ground. With higher ground, you would be able to reach for any of their napes. You watch as the titans run in mindlessly, “ They’re going in many directions, each one of us will be incharge of a titan, if you get yours done with, jump in to help your closest comrade!” You instruct those around you, as you hook on to the trees to swing around. You catch your first titan and swing over it with a flip. You land firmly on its arm and run upwards towards the back of its neck, in the process you allow your steel blades to run through its skin. You were never one to leave much behind of your titans. Once you killed your titan you jumped to help someone else, or rather you jumped at the sound of a frightening scream.

You look over to see that one of your members was in the grasp of the titan and it was approaching the mouth of the titan.

“ SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!”

Your hooks attach quickly to trees as you fly your way over, like hell you were going to let anyone with you die under your watch. Once you see the titan open its mouth, you aim your hook towards it’s mouth. You have never done this before, but you knew that would be a quicker and easier way to kill the titan before it bites off your member's head.

With that you fly right into it’s mouth, and that’s when it shuts it’s mouth. It begins to swallow you and Out of instinct you pull out your sharpened blades again and slice right through its throat all around. The titans head falls off and as does it’s grip sound your comrade loosens.

You’re covered in blood and saliva, but you didn’t care at that moment, “ Are you okay Paul?”

“ I’m Okay, thank you! Oh my gosh i was so scared! I didn’t know what happ-”

“ Paul, I didn’t ask for your life story, now get up, we have to help the others quick!”

With that the two of you go over to help the others, You notice that they too are struggling. How difficult is it to get one thing done, do i have to do everything myself? You charge forward deciding that you were going to take care of all the titans yourself.

With swift motions you spin through the air, leaving your hooks to twirl around you, your blades are by your sides, preparing to go through the skin of every titan. You land on the first titan’s head and run down, slicing through the head down in half, then go back to the back of the neck to cut it horizontally as well. With that you see the 4th titan to your left, and fling over. Swooping close to the ground and cutting both it’s achilles heels, with that it tumbles forward and lands on the floor. You fly back up but in the process the titan attempts to grab you, but you twirls over it’s extended hand and cut it off, preventing it from grabbing you. You land behind him and take it out.

You look around and see the other members just flying around the titans? What are they doing, are they trying to distract it, can they not find an opening to attack? You let out a frustrated grunt and run forward. If they won't take it out, then I will. You first go for it’s eyes, and blind them, with that the titan screams, that leaves you to slice the corner of its mouth open. Then you decide it would be a good idea to then just remove its arms and hands and cut its achilles heels as well. If the titan wants to be such an animal, then it can crawl like one. With that you end it with one last cut behind its neck.

You stand their covered in blood and taking deep breaths in, that was exhausting. You look at your swords and notice that they are all now dull.. No way would they cut through anything now.. Damnit.

“ Y/N… are you okay?”

“ I would be so much better if anyone did their job.. Let’s go, we need to find the others.”

You gather the horses again and begin your journey to the rest of the others. At least you could see they could handle themselves. Unlike your batch you were stuck with.

“ Y/n what happened to you?

“ Nothing, now lets go. We’re behind schedule.” You instruct everyone else. You all make it to the wall and got rid of all the titans that were deemed as a threat to the wall. Once again you ended up taking down half of them, yourself, even with dull blades.

“ Hannah, give me your gear, if you’re not going to use them properly then let me have them. Mine are dull.”

“ But how am i supposed to protect myself if-”

“ That won't be an issue considering I had to save you three times already, now give me your gear.” You raise your voice

Once you exchanged gear, you informed your team you will now head towards the southern wall.

“ Y/N, We were told to take care of the western wall, not the southern, why are we going there? We need to rest, it’s getting dark!”

“ Rest.. You want to rest? Rest from what, from being a coward? We’re going to go help Levi’s group if they need help. If not then we shall head back to base.”

With that they stay silent and just follow you. You hated how they questioned you, like you didn't just save their lives.. Like you didn’t just put all the work yourself, and yet they have the audacity to question you. You hated how the blood that you hadn’t had time to wipe off was all tried. You knew you smelled and it was annoying. But you do find a small pond that you stop to clean yourself. At least now you don’t have to feel too bad now.

The journey itself was long, but you finally made it to where Levi and his team were to be.

“ It’s just us, No need to worry.” You call out, so that no one attacks. You walk and hide your horses, and then meet on top of the high trees that the rest of the people where at.

“ Gosh Y/n did you kill every titan yourself or something? No one else has a single drop of blood on their uniform.”

You turn to look at who asked and you see Petra was the one who spoke. You look at her and give a quiet “ more like 13 out of 17.” and look around until you see Levi. He was already looking in your direction. You go over to Him but keep your distance just in case you smell too bad.

“ You look terrible.” Levi comments as he looks at me with his expressionless face.

“ I know.. It was a rough day.” you sigh, turning your head to break contact with him.

“ Mmm”

The both of you stay silent and just enjoy the moment of peace. Well that was until the next morning that you heard a curdling scream of “ TITAN!” You jump out of your slumber, as does Levi. the both of you don't hesitate for a second before you take off to spot the titan. You go to swing in front of the titan to grab its attention, and do a front flip to miss its attempt to grab you, and you cut off its hand. While Levi goes for its critical zone.

“ If there was one, then the rest are on the way.” Levi speaks out.

Just as Levi announces that a couple more come through, But at least this time everyone’s skills kicked in. You take on your titan and end its life quick, that was until you look over and see a titan approach the Titan that Levi was already dealing with.

“ LEVI WATCH OUT BEHIND YOU!” You scream and charge over and hook onto the titan from it’s chest and swipe from its crotch area up to its chin. But that’s when the titan goes to grab for your wire but you unlatch quickly to latch onto a nearby tree on the side. The damage alone that you made on the titan made him uneven and unstable. You swing around and land on its back and take it out with one clean cut.

Levi already had at the same time taken out his titan as well. “ Are you okay Levi?”

“ Yeah, are you?”

“ Yeah.”

You exchange nods and head back to help everyone else again. The mission itself was a success, but now you and Levi were once again covered in blood, Well for you the second time.

Once you all made it back to base, Levi and you needed to give a debrief about the mission itself to Commander Ewrin.

“ Well it looks like you both went through hell and back, outdid yourselves as usual I see.”

“ Towards the western wall we encountered a total of 17 titans, all of which were taken care of.” You speak giving your debriefing.

“ And how many of them did you kill Y/n.”

“... it was a team effort, it doesn’t matter wh-” You’re cut off by Erwin asking you the same question again. “ Y/n i said how many did YOU kill.”

“ 13 Commander on my side of the mission and 3 when I met with Levi’s team.”

“And you Levi How many did you kill?”

“ 14 Commander Erwin, My team encountered 21 titans on the southern wall.”

Commander Erwin dismisses you both, the two of you walk side by side until towards the sleeping quarters. Each going their separate ways to gather their own things for a shower that you both desperately needed. The shower room is mixed, thus not leaving much for privacy. But thank goodness everyone knew how awkward it could be and for the most part everyone was respectable about covering up. As usual the showers are cold, but somehow it feels relaxing, more so that you now feel clean. You shut the water off and extend your arm out to grab the towel you needed to dry. Once semi dry, you reach out for your clothing to put on. You picked out your dress that had the peasant like sleeves that hung around your shoulders.. Once dressed you walk out of the small shower stall and squeeze your hair dry as much as possible before parting it where you wished and coming through it with your hands. You hum a small tune to yourself in the meantime. Just before you’re about to leave Levi walks out of the shower stall himself with his pants on but shirtless.

His smooth skin glissend against the remaining water droplets that remained on his body. Capturing the light of the fire that illuminated the area. He could have sworn he felt your stare, but by the time he looked over, you had already looked away. He continues to stare in your direction waiting for you to turn, so he could confront you, but you never did.

“ You know it’s rude to stare” he comments, as he pulls his gray shirt over his head.

“ Take your own advice. With how long you were staring, i would have thought you had an eye problem.”

“ Only because you looked first.”

You turn to look over your shoulders in his direction to catch him still looking at you. With that your corner of your lip curls up to a slight smile before you turn away. You gather your stuff and begin heading back to your bed, as you were too exhausted to do anything else. You hear small sounds of footsteps behind you hitting the cobblestone.

“ I’m going to bed tonight, I won't have tea, I’m on breakfast duty tomorrow.” you speak out to the person behind you, whom you know is Levi.

“ I’ll see you tomorrow then, goodnight.”

“ Goodnight Levi.”

You walk over towards your bed and slide in ready to pass out, and you see that Levi too does the same. Without much thought, you close your eyes and let the slumber of night take over your body.
