What is this?

It’s a Sam Wilson fan event.

Is there any pressure?

No pressure at all. Fill one prompt. Fill all the prompts on for the month. Do however many you please.

Can I fill more than one prompt with one piece of art/one fic?

Yes! You can fill one prompt with one piece of art or fic. You can try to fill all 30 prompts at once with one piece of art or fic. If you can fill every single prompt from every single day in one fill, that’d be wild but it’s okay by the rules. You can do any number in between.

Are there any prizes for making anything for this event?

Just the satisfaction that you made something cool.

Should the work I make be Sam Wilson-centric?

Yes. You can make a gen work or a piece with any ship with Sam Wilson in it, but the main focus should be Sam Wilson.

How long will this event run?

It will run from September 1st to September 30th.

I heard there are badges I can use for each fill?

There will be! They will come out daily.

Do I have to post my fic for the prompt on the day of the prompt?

You can if you’d like, but it’s okay if you post a piece on a day other than the day of the prompt.

What are the guidelines for the event?

For Everyone:

1. Remember to tag @samsseptember in the post as well as #samtember2024.

2. Please also tag the prompt you’re filling (for instance, if the square is “Redwing”, use “#redwing” as one of your tags when posting about it on Tumblr).

3. If you’re uploading to AO3, please:

a ) Say somewhere which prompt you’re filling.

b ) Add it to Samtember 2024 Collection that you can find here.

For Artists:

1. Create at least one piece of new art that can’t have been posted anywhere else before this.

2. All visual art forms are welcome:

a ) Gifsets, at least 3 gifs.

b ) Aesthetic boards or moodboards, at least 4 images each.

c ) Drawing/painting, that is not a sketch.

d) Fan video.

e) Graphics edit.

For Authors:

1. At least 500 words.

Things to be mindful of when creating:

For Sam

Avoid framing Sam only as a caretaker or emotional support for Bucky. Be mindful of Sam acting angry or aggressive in an out-of-character way and falling into the angry/sassy Black man trope (check out the MCU source material to help with character traits).

Avoid decentering Sam as a main character and refrain from focusing entirely on Bucky.

In art: avoid whitewashing Sam’s skin and research drawing Black characters.

General disclaimer: Race affects every aspect of his life, including interacting with police/government and the white structures of the world when it comes to performing his duties as Cap and simply being a Black man that lives in the U.S.

For Bucky

Avoid phrasing “flesh/normal/human hand” to refer to the contrast between his prosthetic arm and his right arm. The phrasing is ableist. You can simply refer to his prosthesis when relevant, otherwise use “right/left arm/hand”.

New Zelda Duplication Glitch!

It's hard to find what you need in Hyrule. Sometimes the frog you need is high up a slippery wall. Sometimes there just aren't enough bomb flowers. Sometimes you really need just one more Smotherwing Butterfly and not a single one can be found.

Here's how to duplicate an item fast and easy in Tears of the Kingdom's latest patch:

Collect exactly 25 of the item you want to duplicate.

Head to Wayansbro Grove in the depths and defeat the two armored silver lynels without losing any hearts to gloom.

Equip one of their 5-shot bows, reload and defeat them again if they only drop 3-shot bows. Note that this must be within 10 minutes before a blood moon.

Select and drop all 25 of the item, making sure not to let any fall in the surrounding gloom. If any of the items touch the gloom you will need to collect a different 25 of that item. You must drop all 5 sets of 5 within 2 seconds, so get ready to do some fast button mashing.

Ultrahand all 25 items together into a single blobby mass, then quickly enter up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, B, A, + to perform the glitch that will summon three moldugas. Do not attack the moldugas, just avoid them for now. Grab the ultrahand blob of items and carefully leave it on the tail of the northmost molduga. If the molduga leaves you'll have to restart the process (this happens 96% of the time, or if you equip the fully upgraded Hero's Aspect, 94%), but if the three moldugas begin to play hacky sack with the ultrahand blob, the glitch can succeed.

Call the Nintendo Power Hotline and request a "back-cancel." They will send you the forms to fill out in triplicate to mail to Nintendo so that they can send a "ping" to your Switch. When the "ping" arrives, press the square button exactly when the southern molduga hits the blob with its tail. If you time this perfectly, you will get an extra item when you pick up the blob. Previously it held 25 items, but now it holds 26!* Congrats!

*This glitch works ONLY on Bokoblin Horns.

The Sag Moon is the apex of a mutable t-square, though. Mutable = new problems arising, dealing with responsibilities (Saturn is involved). Something happens, and burying our heads in the sand is the wrong approach.

17/11/2023 Annotations

The "Sam" mentioned in the curse whispers is likely Samuel, a naval commander from p!Owen's past to whom he seemed to have grown close to (between the flashbacks in Owen Ep. 8 and 9 on YouTube). Since Owen's Ep. 9 mainly covers the kidnapping, i.e. chronologically before the curse whispers began, this is the most likely option.

Two of the dreamscape whispers from the Oct 30 Halloween lore event say, "Hook's death is on your hands. But it's not the only one…" and "War is coming. How are you going to protect anyone? History will repeat itself." While p!Owen did not react to these messages on stream, it is possible that the context behind these quotes are related to the flashbacks in the curse and nightmare whispers.

PoliZ's Steve Rogers Bingo Masterpost

So, apparently I didn’t do a masterpost for Round Three of the @steverogersbingo   – but since I just got my badges, I figured I’d toot my own horn a bit!  

As noted above, I got a blackout, completing 26 squares  and using two Adopted prompts.  I created 25 fanfics - including a two-chapter work where each chapter filled one square -  for a total of 15,516 words written towards this bingo. 

Stucky (platonic & romantic/sexual) was my main pairing with 12 fills, with Stony coming in at a distant second with three fills, which also tied it with Stuckony.  Steve also got matched up with Natasha (platonic),  Peggy (romantic) and his mom in one fill each, and five fills didn’t feature any pairing at all.   Ratings ranged from General to Explicit - with the majority being G-rated.

Is there any pressure?

No pressure at all. Fill one prompt. Fill all the prompts on for the month. Do however many you please.

Can I fill more than one prompt with one piece of art/one fic?

Yes! You can fill one prompt with one piece of art or fic. You can try to fill all 30 prompts at once with one piece of art or fic. If you can fill every single prompt from every single day in one fill, that’d be wild but it’s okay by the rules. You can do any number in between.

Are there any prizes for making anything for this event?

Just the satisfaction that you made something cool.

Should the work I make be Sam Wilson-centric?

Yes. You can make a gen work or a piece with any ship with Sam Wilson in it, but the main focus should be Sam Wilson.

How long will this event run?

It will run from September 1st to September 30th.

What are the guidelines for the event?

I will be borrowing some of this from the MYSU Valentine’s Day Bingo 2022 Guidelines, since they were fantastic.

For Everyone:

1. Remember to tag @samsseptember in the post as well as #samtember2023.

2. Please also tag the prompt you’re using (for instance, if the square is “Redwing”, use “#redwing” as one of your tags when posting about it on Tumblr).

3. If you’re uploading to AO3, please:

For Artists:

Things to be mindful of when creating:

For Sam

Avoid framing Sam only as a caretaker or emotional support for Bucky. Be mindful of Sam acting angry or aggressive in an out-of-character way and falling into the angry/sassy Black man trope (check out the MCU source material to help with character traits).

Avoid decentering Sam as a main character and refrain from focusing entirely on Bucky.

In art: avoid whitewashing Sam’s skin and research drawing Black characters.

General disclaimer: Race affects every aspect of his life, including interacting with police/government and the white structures of the world when it comes to performing his duties as Cap and simply being a Black man that lives in the U.S.

Pen and Paper and Popcorn is a tabletop roleplaying comedy podcast, taking settings and characters from movies and playing through their plots with a team of amateur actors and improvisors, seeing how the stories change through choice and chance.

For this season, we are casting six stories, each to be played in one or two sessions: Alien (played in Dread), Beauty and the Beast (1991) (played in Monsterhearts), Dredd (in On Mighty Thews), Hellboy (in Masks), Rampage (2018) (in On Mighty Thews), and The Great Mouse Detective (in On Mighty Thews).

We're looking for a diverse cast - however, due to the sensitive content that might arise, all performers must be eighteen or over. Additionally, we intend for all auditions and recordings to be done in person in Ballarat, so you will need to be local to the area in order to participate.

Audition format

Auditions will be run in half-hour blocks, with four people to a session. This is so that we can run a mix of activities, some of which involve multiple performers at a time.

Because the auditions will be entirely improvised, you will not be required to memorise any performance pieces for the occasion.

As there will be several people in each session, please let us know in advance if you will be unable to make your scheduled audition time.

About you

We want this show to be fun to create and to listen to. Consequently, the performers should be:

flexible improvisors,

highly expressive, and

good at working with others.

A good sense of humour is also a major positive!

Experience performing, particularly experience in voice acting, is beneficial but is not required. Experience with roleplaying games is likewise helpful but not required.

Most importantly, we want people who enjoy improvisation and who will have fun playing the game!

The trim of this overcoat consists of bias and flat ruches; the sleeve is triple. Under two wide half-sleeves is a fitted sleeve. Round black straw hat, garnished with a pink rose.

Ecru mohair dress. The lower edge is trimmed with two narrow gathered ruffles, topped with five bias strips (not separated) in ecru foulard of a darker shade than mohair and with fine black stripes. Flat tunic rounded at the front; the back and side strips are square, and all the contours are bordered with a foulard bias. On the sides, the front strip is joined to the side strips by buttons and loops of brown cord. Bodice with short peplums trimmed with a bias; half-wide sleeves.

First, here is our checklist from Chrissie Blaze’s book Mercury Retrograde:

Curb your urge to travel; instead travel mentally by learning about new countries and different cultures.

Investigate new courses of study - but don’t enrol yet.

Spend an active but relaxing day at the beach or at the spa.

Call an elderly relative and lift his spirits.

We could probably call this time period “consequences” - from sloppy thinking, to reliance on luck (instead of putting in the hard work), to having good intentions but zero follow-through or (again) not putting the work in. It’s so much more fun to talk and rant about doing things, rather than actually to do them!

The conjunction to Mars and trine to Eris give us a lot of angry mental activity, but Neptune fogs everything up and “makes” us lose our way. Kind of like the character Puck in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, when he’s making everyone chase after themselves in the forest. Perhaps we’ll clue in, that a more disciplined approach is very useful.
