📚May 2024 Book Review (Part 3/3)📚
A slight change of plan: this review was supposed to include a french thriller, Le manuscrit inachevé by Franck Thilliez but since it's a trilogy and I read all three books it will be easier to speak of all three at once!
The Devil and the Dark Water by Stuart Turton
India, 1634. Detective Samuel Pipps is arrested by governor-general Jan Haan for reasons unknown. He is to be brought back to Amsterdam aboard the ship Saardam with his sidekick Arent Hayes, the governor-general, his wife and his mistress. As they board the ship, a leper appears and curse the ship before bursting into flame. With Pipps under arrest, Arent will have to solve this mystery by himself and make sure the ship reaches its destination, despite the lepers prediction.
Stuart Turton's The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle has been a total hit for me earlier this year, I wanted to read another book of his. I couldn't get his latest book yet but this one was available!
The premise intrigued me, historical novel, a nautical story (with an author's note indicating that there were licenses taken, I knew next to nothing on the subject and the period so if there were, they flew past me) and a murder mystery with a pinch of horror. The balance is really well built, the ship and period create interesting obstacles to the investigation and nook and cranies to build a horror atmosphere. The main character is not the weathered detective who guesses everything and withhold his discovery à la Poirot, we get to see his deduction as he makes them, and it adds to the threat until the very end.
The characters are nicely drawn, I felt like I knew them already and had read about other cases they solved before. The author is great at giving tiny details that makes the characters and their relationships feel life-like, it made the ending hit that much harder.
Nonetheless I wasn't awed by the resolution: I had seen not of it coming, which is frequent eniugh in murder mystery but some aspects of it didn't feel like they had been set up upstream. It was also very down to earth, and I was expecting some supernatural elements to actually be supernatural in the end (I can't be much clearer without spoiling the end). That one is on me but it still tinted my feeling.
In conclusion, I found it a bit less awe-inspiring than The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle but a nice read and a good thriller. Specialist of sailing, and the 17th century might find some historical incoherence but the book is really enjoyable.
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy #1) by Douglas Adams
Arthur Dent is the last human survivor of planet Earth, destroyed to make way for a galactic highway. His friend Ford Prefect, an alien in disguise saved hit at the last second. Together they will explore the new planets, guided by Ford's Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and solve such grand questions as "where did all the ballpen go?" and "what is the meaning of life, the universe and everything?"
This is a cult classic and, as I get acquainted with SciFi and British absurdism, I gave it a go.
This was a wierd experience. Fun but wierd: I was a bitclost and Arthur's reaction to everything was so far out of what I would have felt that I had difficulty identifying with him. Other characters were really fun, I love Ford and Martin most of all. I admit most of the longer names are blurry for month after reading.
The different adventures were fun, I'm really growing fond of the absurd. Zaphod's ship and its propulsion system, the Impossibly Drive is such a funny yet efficient mechanism!
This was a fun discovery, I probably missed 48% of the references but I finally have context for that "42" easter egg on Google. The Restaurant at the End of the Universe is on the TBR for late September or October and I'm looking forward to it.
The Start Beast (Doctor Who 60th anniversary novelisation) by Gary Russel
The Doctor just regenerated, and this new face is strangely familiar. The coincidence is too much when he runs into Donna Noble, still amnesic. She can't remember him, it would be fatal; but as an alien called The Meep crashes in London and has to run to escape pursuit, the Doctor and Donna will run into each other again and work together to save planet Earth.
I was so excited for the 60th anniversary episodes!! David Tennant and Catherine Tate are such an awesome duo and Russel T Davis back on the team was a great news to me! I loved those new episodes and this one especially.
Aaaaand that's about all I have to say! Unfortunately, the book adds very little to the show. I hadn't rewatched it recently but it was still fresh enough that I didn't rediscover it through the book. I should have expected it. So yeah, novelisation doesn't add much but that's still one hell of an episode!

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984, Steven Spielberg)
15/03/2024
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom is a 1984 adventure film directed by Steven Spielberg. It is the second installment of the Indiana Jones franchise, a prequel to the film Raiders of the Lost Ark, with Harrison Ford reprising the title role. After arriving in India, desperate villagers ask Indiana Jones to find a mystical stone and save their children from a Thuggee cult that practices child slavery, black magic, and human sacrifice rituals honoring the goddess Kali.
Not wanting to present the Nazis as villains again, George Lucas, executive producer and co-writer, decided to treat this film as a prequel.
The film was released on May 23, 1984, to financial success, but initial reviews were mixed, criticizing its darker elements, strong violence and gore, as well as Capshaw's performance as Willie Scott; however, critical opinion improved over time, citing the film's intensity and imagination. In response to the film's more violent sequences, and with similar complaints about Gremlins, Spielberg suggested that the MPAA change its rating system, which it did within two months of the film's release, creating a new PG-13 rating. It won the Academy Award for best special effects.
A sequel, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade followed in 1989.
In 1935 Indiana Jones survives an assassination attempt by poisoning by Lao Che, a Shanghai crime boss and businessman who hired him to recover the remains of Emperor Nurhaci. With his young orphaned Chinese sidekick, Short "Shorty" Round, and a nightclub singer, Willie Scott, Indy escapes Shanghai on a cargo plane, unaware that the plane is owned by Lao Che. While the three sleep, the pilots dump the fuel and escape with parachutes, leaving the plane to crash into the Himalayas.
They are welcomed by the inhabitants of a impoverished Indian village, who ask for their help to recover the sacred stone (shivalinga) stolen from their shrine, together with their missing children, by evil forces in the nearby Pankot Palace. The inhabitants had prayed to the god Shiva for help, and when they saw Jones they believed him to be their savior.
Deviating on the road to Delhi, Indy, Willy and Shorty receive a warm welcome at Pankot Palace and are allowed to stay overnight as guests, partaking in a sumptuous, but revolting, banquet hosted by the young maharajah. His officials reject Indy's theory that the Thuggee cult is responsible for the poor village's fate. Indy discovers a secret tunnel in Willie's bedroom and sets out to explore it, overcoming a series of pitfalls. Eventually Indy, Willie and Shorty find the Temple of Evil, where they witness a human sacrifice made in the name of the goddess Kali.
Thuggee high priest Mola Ram forces Indy to drink Kali's blood, which puts him into a trance state where he mindlessly serves the cult. After recovering the stones, saving Willie and freeing the children, Indy fights a huge overseer, who is dragged into a crusher, crushed to death.
Then they come to a precarious suspension bridge over a crocodile-infested river, where they are surrounded by Thugs. Thanks to the intervention of Captain Blumburt and the army sent by the maharajah, Jones, Willie and Shorty are saved and the surviving Thugs are cornered and arrested by other soldiers.
From the first discussions regarding Indiana Jones, George Lucas expressed his intention to produce a trilogy and requested Steven Spielberg's commitment to direct three films. The first episode of the saga, Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981), had only been released in cinemas for a couple of weeks when plans began for the sequel, which actually turned out to be a prequel, being set a year before the previous film.

Book Review #29 of 2024--
Faking It with #41 by Piper Rayne. Rating: 3.75 stars.
Read from May 3rd to 6th.
If we could figure out the things that I do and don't enjoy with Romance novels, that would be great. Because I was so surprised to find that I really enjoyed this one. Obviously, I enjoy reading Romance novels or I would just stop, but it seems like I can't get a handle on whether I'll like the one I'm about to read when I'm going into it. I just don't know my tastes. This one was a fake dating Romance so we shouldn't be shocked that this has been my favorite hockey Romance in a hot second.
We have a hockey player who comes from a wealthy family and his wealthy family's head of PR getting together for a fake relationship in order to save his reputation and allow a deal to go through for his father's company. I've enjoyed rich people drama, I like hockey, I love fake dating, let's go. I had read the first book in this series (My Lucky #13) and liked but didn't really love it AND after buying this one on Kindle I found out that it was Ford's book. In book one, Ford is a player and I really didn't like how crass and over the top he was. In this book however? Ford has changed in a real way due to circumstances that are kind of beyond his control and this new Ford Jacobs? Hell. Yes. Is he still a bit crass? Is he still a bit over the top? Yes and Yes. But the hero has to win over the heroine in this one and I just love it. He has to prove that he's changed and she has to cope with some baggage from her past. It was so good.
My main problem with this one was that any time I wanted the book to explore something we would flip the page and move on. It's not surprising that a hockey Romance comes until 300 pages, but I'm a girl who literally complained a few years ago because 750 page Fantasy novel was not long enough. If the central relationship in a Romance is good, I could read an additional 50...100...200 pages of it. I will eat it up. So, when I didn't get to connect as much with the characters or experience the things that I wanted them to explore, it left me wanting more. Which I guess is a good thing. I do want to dive into this author writing duo's backlist (which is extensive) and also decide if I want to read any of the other guys' stories in this series.

2024 Ford Explorer Review
The Ford Explorer has more than three decades of history under its belt, and its lasting appeal is firmly rooted in Ford's commitment to innovation and evolution. While the Explorer has benefited from frequent updates throughout its history, no changes have been introduced for the 2024 model year. The 2024 Ford Explorer has a strong, athletic look established by its bold dimensions and deeply accented sides. Over the front end, you will find a small grille stacked on top of a beefy fender. The horizontally running LED headlights link to the grille. Some exterior gear available or standard on the Explorer are 18-inch alloy wheels or larger, a hands-free power liftgate, roof rails, heated side mirrors, keyless access, rain-sensing wipers, and others.
Two engine systems are available with the 2024 Ford Explorer. The lower trims continue to receive 300 horsepower from a four-cylinder, 2.3-liter engine. The upper trims have a 400-horsepower, V6, turbo 3.0-liter engine. Both engine systems include a 10-speed auto transmission. Rear-wheel drive is standard across most of the trims. However, the Timberline trim level comes with standard all-wheel drive.
The 2024 Explorer is a three-row SUV with exciting differences in materials and features across its eight trim levels. The base trim level is well-appointed with satellite radio, an 8-inch touch display screen, FordPass Connect, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. At higher trim levels, the Explorer could also offer second-row captain's chairs, a push-button ignition, a surround-view camera system, a wireless phone charger, a Bang & Olufsen sound system, leather upholstery, a 12.3-inch digital instrument screen, a heated steering wheel, and others.
There are also numerous standard safety features in the 2024 Explorer. These are trailer sway damping, forward collision mitigation, lane departure mitigation, rear parking sensors, and a blind-spot monitor. Additional safety features in select higher trim levels include adaptive cruise control, evasive steering assistance, lane keeping, front parking sensors, and rear auto braking.

round up // FEBRUARY 24
In some ways, February is a manifestation of Crowd vs. Critic.
Each year Vulture updates an article called "Which January at the Movies Was the Most January?" When I stumbled upon it this month, I couldn’t believe how closely it captured a phenomenon I was already thinking about: “January at the movies is a tale of two seasons. It’s the month where Oscar contenders traditionally open nationwide, allowing moviegoers across the country to experience the best that Hollywood has to offer. But for that reason, it’s also the month where the rest of the industry tries to stay out of the way, offering a mixture of counterprogramming and low-risk fare — we’re talking horror films, inexplicable sequels, and lots of movies about grim middle-aged men firing guns.”
From there, Vulture attempts to rank every January in recent memory by their bad movie slates, but my follow up question is, why stop at January? “Dumpuary” does not end January 31st—I’m not even sure it ends on February 29th. Pardon my French, but I’ve watched a lot of doggerel this month so mediocre it’s not worth recommending here. However, February is also Oscar prep season. I’ve spent the month reading more deeply about the nominated films and planning my annual Oscar watch party. And because I’m caught up on nominated films and there are so few new releases worth checking out, I’m creating a watchlist of classics I’ve missed. This year I’ve decided to dig into films recommended in TCM’s The Essential Directors by Sloan De Forest, which I recommended during Dumpuary 2022. I just finished the book’s top picks from Steven Spielberg's filmography, and before the year’s end, my goal is to complete their recommendations from Mel Brooks, Frank Capra, George Cukor, Michael Curtiz, John Ford, Howard Hawks, Alfred Hitchcock, George Lucas, Ida Lupino, Oscar Micheaux, Sidney Lumet, Joseph L. Mankiewicz, Elaine May, Leo McCarey, Vincente Minnelli, Martin Scorsese, Douglas Sirk, Preston Sturges, W.S. Van Dyke, Billy Wilder, and Robert Wise. (Full disclosure: for most of them, I only have one or two titles to go.)
So please enjoy a Round Up of recommendations featuring several of those directors and Britney Spears, as well as a book of interviews with Oscar winners and a Bennifer marathon. Plus, a Leap Day bonus with a Finnish flair!
February Crowd-Pleasers
1. Scary Movie 3 (2003)
Because sometimes you don’t want to laugh with something sophisticated—sometimes you want to laugh at something stupid. After years of my brother recommending something I wouldn’t peg as my taste, I finally checked out this spoof of 8 Mile, American Idol, The Ring, Signs, and more things that were extremely popular in 2003. I doubt future generations will find much to appreciate here, but this Millennial got a kick from the nostalgia and the stupid humor courtesy of Anna Faris Regina Hall, Leslie Nielsen, Simon Rex, and Charlie Sheen. Crowd: 8.5/10 // Critic: 6/10
2. Catwoman (2004)
This movie is not good, but is it objectively way better and way more fun than The Flash? I’d rather have this silly, superficially-girl-power trash than that self-serious Flash trash any day. The Razzies did not deserve this movie! Crowd: 8/10 // Critic: 5.5/10
3. Bennifer Marathon!
It's a real If You Give a Mouse a Cookie situation. After you go to a screening of This Is Me…Now: A Love Story (2024), you're going to need to watch the behind-the-scenes documentary The Greatest Love Story Never Told and listen to Jennifer Lopez’s new album This Is Me…Now on repeat. You're also going to decide you need to watch Jersey Girl (2004) and Halftime (2022) because you can never have too much of Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez! (I also watched Gigli and What to Expect When You’re Expecting, but these Round Ups only focus on pop culture I recommend.) What can I say? I’m rooting for love!
I reviewed J. Lo’s new music film for ZekeFilm, which explores her public history in a personal, musical romantic comedy. Crowd: 8/10 // Critic: 7/10
4. Crossroads (2002)
Zoe Saldana camping in curlers: To me, that is cinema! Like Catwoman, this Lifetime-movie-meets-Britney-Spears-star-vehicle is not good, but it is a perfect sleepover movie. Crowd: 8/10 // Critic: 5/10
5. The Beekeeper (2024)
I look forward to 30 years from now when I am a Turner Classic Movies host and introduce this movie 12 times in a single calendar year:
January: Star of the Month Jason Statham
February: Star of the Month Josh Hutcherson
March: 31 Days of Oscar - Movies that would be Oscar-nominated if the Academy had a Best Stunts category
April: Special Theme - Vigilante Justice (Lee Marvin makes an appearance, too)
May: Mother's Day marathon (between The Manchurian Candidate and Psycho)
June: Birthday Tribute - Phylicia Rashad (leading into a Creed marathon)
July: Guest Programmer Pick - Bona fide action star is promoting his new artistic action blockbuster and calls Statham one of his inspirations
August: Summer Under the Stars - Day 23 devoted to Minnie Driver (airing before Good Will Hunting)
September: Birthday Tribute - Jeremy Irons (airing after The Mission)
October: Spotlight - Secret organizations (showing right before The Parallax View)
November: Diane Warren Tribute - she finally won her Oscar for her theme for The Beekeeper 2
December: Primetime Theme - Bees (in marathon with Akeelah and the Bee, The Bee Movie, The Secret Life of Bees, The Wicker Man, and for some reason Beetlejuice)
Crowd: 9/10 // Critic: 6.5/10
More February Crowd-Pleasers: Cold Pursuit (2019) is the platonic ideal of a Liam Neeson’s formulaic thrillers // I would’ve been obsessed with the martial arts mayhem of Bulletproof Monk (2003) if I had seen it when I was 12 // Not everything in the corporate satire Head Office (1985) works, but what does is savage // When Book of the Month announced The Helsinki Affair by Anna Pitoniak (2023) as a selection just a few weeks after my first trip to Finland, I immediately knew my November pick. This Jason Bourne/Jack Ryan-esque spy thriller didn’t disappoint. (More on my trip to Finland below!) // Though the politics of The Ghost and the Darkness (1996) have aged poorly, it’s the most thrilling movie about killing lions I’ve seen since The Lion King
February Critic Picks
1. The Teachers’ Lounge (2023)
If you’ve ever survived an anxiety-fueled environment driven by politics, prejudice, or, frankly, middle schoolers, Germany’s nominee for Best International Feature at the Oscars will ring true. Read my full review for ZekeFilm. Crowd: 8.5/10 // Critic: 9.5/10
2. 50 Oscar Nights: Iconic Stars & Filmmakers on Their Career-Defining Wins by Dave Karger (2024)
Let me repeat what I said last month: The Turner Classic Movies Library has yet to miss! In TCM host Dave Karger’s new book, he interviews 50 different winners from Oscar ceremonies as far back as 1962 about what the award means to them and how it has impacted their careers. This breezy read digs into the inspirations, outfits, and relationships of Nicole Kidman, John Legend, Rita Moreno, Meryl Streep, Sofia Coppola, and more, and you can find all of the films featured on my Letterboxd list.
3. Double Feature - Legal Dramas: The Verdict (1982) + Class Action (1991)
In The Verdict (Crowd: 8.5/10 // Critic: 9.5/10), Paul Newman is a jaded ambulance chaser who happens on a medical malpractice suit that might be his best case in years. In Class Action (8.5/10 // 8/10), Gene Hackman and Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio are a father and daughter facing off in a courtroom centered on a car manufacturer’s potential negligence. Both are excellent legal genre examples and excellent opportunities to let their actors cook.
4. Good Reads

Leap Day Bonus
In 2020, my Leap Day Bonus was a Jonas Brothers music video I’d forgotten to mention in my January Round Up. This year, I’m using it make up for forgetting to mention…my entire trip to Finland? (I'm blaming it on the fog of the holidays and Awards Season kicking into high gear when I was writing my October Round Up.) These are the top cultural spots my sister and I found in Helsinki and Rovaniemi…
Temppeliaukion Kirkko - In their Ultimate Travel book, Lonely Planet calls this one of the top 500 places to see in the world. I’m not sure I’d rank it that high (even if I’ve yet to see a lot of the world), but it was worth a stop. Built in 1969 into a rock that split during the Ice Age, it is an architectural feat with amazing acoustics.
Anteneum Art Museum - This national gallery houses Finnish art classics
Finnkino Movie Theater - The real highlight of checking out Finland’s cinema was not watching Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny with Finnish and Swedish subtitles but it’s insane candy bar!
Santa Claus Village - If you can embrace a tourist trap, this one is worth the trip to the Arctic Circle. Meet Santa, feed his reindeer, and get lost in the kitschy gift shops in this acres-wide complex
Dog sledding - We hopped on a buggy pulled by eight of the goodest dogs courtesy of Bearhill Husky—a dream come true!
Arktikum - This science museum in Rovaniemi dives into the history and culture of Lapland (northern Finland)
Marimekko - This Finnish designer is chock full of mod florals, and we budget travelers found great deals at the outlet in Helsinki
Porvoo - This little town just a bus ride from Helsinki is filled with picturesque wooden houses, cutesy shops, and historical home museums
We visited Finland in the autumn, which is tourist off-season, but we’re not sure why—it’s beautiful! Whenever you choose to go, be sure to indulge in a korvapuusti ja kahvi (cinnamon roll and coffee) in one of their many kahvilat (coffee shops)!
Also in February…
On KMOV, I did my best to sum up why Casablanca is a perfect Valentine’s movie, and then I squeezed in a short review of Argylle, which is not so much a perfect Valentine’s movie.
I also reviewed Argylle in more depth for ZekeFilm, and the piece turned into a lament for for its failure to follow through on a great premise.
I added two more entries to my Best Picture Project this month! I continued on with 1944's Going My Way, which is a feel-good story about the power of music starring Bing Crosby, and last year’s winner Everything Everywhere All at Once, which is a weird story about the power of googly eyes.

What is the #1 Electric Car in 2024?
What is the #1 Electric Car in 2024 ?
What is the Top-Ranked Electric Vehicle This Year?
The electric vehicle (EV) market has expanded rapidly in recent years. As more automakers roll out exciting new EVs with must-have features, range and performance, it can be challenging for consumers to identify the cream of the crop. Factors like driving range, acceleration, price, availability of tax credits, and expert review scores distinguish the very best electric cars. This article will examine the EV marketplace in 2024 to determine the #1 electric car across a variety of categories. We'll explore longest range, fastest acceleration, most affordable, and highest rated by critics to highlight those that rise above the fierce competition. Understanding what's available today and which new models are on the horizon can simplify the transition to an electric future.
Highest Rated Electric Cars Based on Range
Range anxiety persists as a top consideration for potential EV buyers in 2024. While charging infrastructure continues expanding nationwide, motorists still prefer electric vehicles capable of traveling farther between charging sessions. We'll spotlight the longest-range EVs available this year. Longest Range EV Models - Lucid Air Dream Edition Range - Official EPA range of 520 miles from a 118 kWh battery pack. High density battery technology and aerodynamic design optimization. (Mercedes-Benz) - Ford F-150 Lightning (extended range) - Official EPA estimate 320 miles from 131 kWh "Mega Power Frunk" extended range battery. 150 kW charging adds 54 miles range per 10 minutes. (Ford Several more affordable EVs also boast impressive driving ranges, like the Kia EV6 with 310 miles or 274 mile Chevy Bolt EUV - proving range anxiety can be overcome without breaking the bank.
Electric Cars with Cutting-Edge Performance
What is the #1 Electric Car in 2024? For driving enthusiasts focused on acceleration and power, electric vehicles unleash impressive performance. The instant torque from electric motors allows some EVs to outpace even the fastest gas-powered supercars. Quickest Accelerating EVs - Tesla Model S Plaid - With updated tri-motor powertrain, the Model S Plaid rockets from 0-60 mph in just 1.99 seconds as vehicle software lowers the time. Peak 1020 hp allows a top speed of 200 mph. But forecasting future EV tech requires imagining possibilities we can't yet conceptualize.
Conclusion: Tesla Model S is the #1 Electric Car in 2024
Evaluating the EV landscape, a clear leader emerges delivering elite performance, industry-leading innovation, and most critically - sheer driving pleasure. The newly updated Tesla Model S offers superlative range to crush anxiety, acceleration that defies physics, and a charging ecosystem years ahead of rivals. OTA software updates continuously add bleeding-edge features improving driver safety and enjoyment over time - no dealership required. Tesla's continual technical advancements in batteries, efficiency, powertrains and self-driving make the Model S a software-defined vehicle that gets better throughout ownership. No luxury automaker can yet match this, though upstarts like Lucid are chasing fast. While the Cybertruck and $25k Telsa promise a thrilling road ahead, the freshly revamped Model S offers the pinnacle of EV status today. Until Elon Musk inevitably one-ups himself again, the Model S remains king of the electric car mountain with no true challenger in sight for 2024 and beyond. Other EVs scored top honors for affordability, sustainability credentials and breakthrough mobility. But for pure automotive ambition the refreshed Model S still reigns supreme. Conquering range anxiety, accelerating ferociously, and innovating daily through remote software prove why Tesla retains the silicon valley crown. For those seeking the #1 overall EV in 2024 look no further than the category-defining luxury sedan that started it all - the iconic Tesla Model S. No competitor combines prestige, performance, range, charging sophistication and bombshell styling more holistically. Tesla refuses to relinquish the electric car pole position. Read the full article

All-New 2025 Ford Fusion Sedan Exclusive Review
With sedan sales plummeting and SUV sales soaring, Ford could combine the two vehicle sectors by reviving the Fusion nameplate for an all-new crossover-style station wagon. Unfortunately, the project was never completed. If Ford decides to move forward with this project, the Fusion Active will target the Subaru Outback. This suggests that the Fusion Active will have all-wheel drive, plastic body lining and a higher ride height. There is also a report accessible on Ford USA Cars Media Online on the 2024 Ford Fusion Sedan Exclusive that both hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains will be available.
The Ford Fusion, which was discontinued after the 2020 model year, may have been reinvented as a raised station wagon to better fit the brand's portfolio of nearly all SUVs. We've only seen spy pictures, and Ford never introduced such a car in the United States.
Price
The 2023 Ford Fusion Active is expected to cost between $35,000 to $41,000, depending on trim and options. When it goes into production, the Fusion Active will cost around $35,000. We don't know what trim levels will be offered, but we're confident they'll be consistent with other Ford models of the period.
SE$35,000 (estimated). SEL $38,000 (est.). Titanium costs $41,000 (estimated).
Engine, Transmission and Performance
We can only guess about the Fusion Active's engine and transmission options because there are no official details yet. We can almost guarantee that all-wheel drive will be available. There are also reports that Ford will offer hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains for the wagon. These two electrical installations may be identical or comparable to the installation that powers the Escape small crossover. This requires a 2.5 liter four-cylinder engine combined with two electric motors. The Fusion Active could potentially receive the Escape's 250-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and eight-speed automatic transmission.
Interior, Comfort and Cargo
The Fusion Active's prospective interior design, passenger space and trunk volume are completely unknown. We expect it to look similar to Ford models at the time, such as the electric Mustang Mach-E crossover and mid-size Explorer SUV. These models show that the Fusion will have a fully digital gauge cluster, a vertically oriented center screen, and customizable internal storage. We also anticipate that the Fusion Active will offer a comfortable rear seat and ample cargo space to compete with the Outback.
entertainment and connectivity
The Ford Sync infotainment system will be available on the Fusion Active. We expect a touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard. Likewise, built-in navigation and Wi-Fi hotspot will be among the alternatives.
Safety and Driver Assistance Features Ford never specified what driver assistance technology would be available in the station wagon, but we expect automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, and lane keeping assist. It makes sense that the Fusion Active has Ford's BlueCruise hands-free highway driving mode as an option. Key safety elements may include:
Standard automatic emergency braking. Standard lane departure warning with lane keep assist. Available adaptive cruise control with hands-free driving mode.
