I think we can all agree that 2022 has been one crazy year. From this year’s insane political landscape, to people forgetting COVID is still around, and let’s not forget our usual taste of fandom drama and insanity.
For me personally, 2022 has been a year of failure, triumph, injury, and family drama. There was the fact that my sister got her dream job in Orlando. I have a job as a teacher. My brother is still in Tennessee but went to California for the TCM film festival. My mom took a step back from teaching. And my dad has a new job that takes him to an office. A lot has happened and it's only been 365 days. Right?
It’s hard to believe that this year I went to see my first stage musical in years in 2022. I read over 15 books which include books for work and for fun. I’ve found my anxiety relief in diamond art. I’ve gotten into 2 new fandoms all while participating in a fandom that makes me happy. (These new fandoms being Linked Universe an LOZ AU that has given me lots of heart attacks because of emotions and Rise of the TMNT that I’m so happy I gave a chance). Let’s also not forget that I sprained my ankle earlier this year and I completely forgot until now. Insane right?
But most of all, this year reminded me that there are people out there who care about me that I now call dear friends and want to meet in real life. I was shown that I can still be myself in a safe space. I can spout ideas without being judged. I can write 9 fics (yes I did write that much this year. I am amazed too) and not be judged at the writing style I use. Or the pairing I write. Or the prompt I choose. If it weren’t for you guys, I would’ve left months ago. But now I have all of you to thank.
Normally I would make a list of mutuals I want to thank for helping me through another crazy year. But this time I don’t think I’ll make a list because it would be way too long. Probably around 15 or so.
Finally (I feel like one of my students here) here’s to 2023 that will be better physically, mentally, and emotionally.

#parcel lockers i love you#in one package there is fabric. one to sew inside my granny square bag and other i bought impulsively and will try to make a skirt out of#and the second one has my ma and ba theses printed out#yes i finished my uni education 2 years ago yes i only just printed out my theses#i defended my ba in july 2020 which. speaks for itself#and masters in 2022. and the uni didn't want a physical copy of my thesis so i just kinda forgot to print it out#but hell. having them printed out will make me feel more intelligent so

nothing like dropping a hot $300 on six months worth of contact lenses on a tuesday morning 💀 did I get any sort of rush or gratification from this purchase? absolutely not. will I be able to see without my glasses giving me a tension headache? I guess vision has a few perks but not many
#I haven't had contact lenses since the end of 2022 so this is a treat#also my FUCKASS vision prescription expires in april 2025 and they apparently only last one (1) calendar year now? go to hell for that#I'm gonna have to buy another two boxes before april just to get through the year#seriously my eye prescription has barely changed since 2015 and y'all are gonna make me pay $150 a year to get it renewed. federal prison

#Literally#I wish I was making this up#First got it mid-late 2022#Got it for the second time just before Christmas (& honestly only felt 100% again around new years)#& now I might have it again#Also fun facts that I'm certain are completely irrelevant:#Autistic people have a higher chance of immune system disorders than most people#And Literally 0% of people in my local community wear masks!#They've all just accepted its 'going to be around forever'!#Not like there's numerous safe and effective vaccines!#The last 2-3 of which I highly doubt anyone has even got! #i knew the pic felt familiar#the difference is so hearbreaking#not only in looks#but also in context#the published the first pic in 2021 ... sending wishes for 2022 ...#no one expecting the hell that would start only two months later#the biggest difference is in ze 😢😢😢#his face was so full with happiness and a glimmer in his eyes and peace#and now his eyes have hardened so much#the glimmer no longer is there#as well as the innocence and the happiness#his eyes are now so tired and hurt and full of pain#he has seen the most horrible things and still endures#for his country and his people#olena always by his side with her love#protecting him loving him and strenghtening him#behind him but at his side#and if you wouldnt know it you would think there is an at least 10 years difference between these two pics#when its only two years#i wish him and them that they get that peace and happiness back and they can heal#hopefully next year

So I know that 2022 isn't actually canonically when classic Doom takes place, it was printed in one of the port manuals without ever being confirmed by any of the original team, but I think it is infinitely funnier if that is when it takes place, because that would mean Hayden was alive through the events of classic Doom, and he still decided to everything he did. My man you saw the consequences and you still made the decisions you did. This is very much your own fault.
