Transiting Ceres re-enters Libra (post-retrograde shadow)
Timeline (current events in bold)
Monday, November 28, 2022, 18:38 UT - transiting Neptune enters pre-retrograde shadow, 23°49’ Virgo
Sunday, December 18, 2022, 23:26 UT - transiting Ceres enters Libra
Friday, February 3, 2023, 19:16 UT - transiting Ceres stations retrograde, 6°58’ Libra
Thursday, March 23, 2023, 03:52 UT - transiting Ceres retrogrades back into Virgo
Saturday, May 6, 2023, 19:28 UT - transiting Ceres stations direct, 23°47’ Virgo
Wednesday, June 21, 2023, 11:22 UT - transiting Ceres re-enters Libra
Saturday, July 15, 2023, 21:10 UT - transiting Ceres exits post-retrograde shadow, 6°58’ Libra
Disclaimer: you won’t “feel” this transit very strongly unless Ceres is prominent in your birth chart (strongly aspecting the Sun, Moon, &/or the angles). A strong Virgo/6th House influence would also predispose one.
Almost done with this slog! Look back to see if you were trying to get a Ceres-type project off the ground between December 18 and February 3 - you have a lot more perspective now, perhaps some new skills or reimagined skills, to use. “Ceres-type projects” include:
Procreative sexuality, parenting, children, family
Child care, nurturing professions
Agriculture, growing cycles, food
Concern for animals (especially domestic ones)
Putting these in a Libra context, we’re trying to bring balance, fairness, justice, and harmony to the situations.
Ceres is (still) very connected to the Sun in the Cancer Solstice chart - you may recall she was also a Player in the Capricorn Solstice and Aries Equinox charts. So much of what we must do henceforward is to (try to) bring back some balance to how we treat the Earth.

Energy Update: Libra season and Mercury Cazimi, 9/21/22
We are at the proverbial crossroads today. It is the last full day of Virgo season which is not only the switch over of our zodiac rulers but we are switching seasons, too. The languid summer days are over (though in truth Virgo season represents the work of bringing in the harvest of later summer) and now we transition to the deeper energies of Autumn.
With Mercury (and Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto) retrograde, things are murky and untenuous. The proverbial mists are thick and it may still be difficult to see a way forward. This is right on time and one (one who believes in the divine path of the planets anyway) might say - meant to be.
It is hard in culture the values productivity above all else to take a divine pause but the time is ripe. Stillness is what is on the plate for this week. It is only through stillness, through listening, through pathworking or finding perhaps, that you might find a sense of balance in all of this noise.
Balance is called for this week - both through the representation of the equinox (not exactly a day of equal hours of day and night but close to it) and through our Sun Sign Libra (the sign of the scales). The more that you can reach for it, stretch towards it, or simply make space to try and accommodate it, the easier that it will be in the long run.
Of note, as the Sun transitions into Libra later tomorrow night, it meets up with backwards moving Mercury on Friday who then, almost immediately, transitions into Virgo from the "wrong end". This is known as Mercury cazimi, often referred to as Mercury being "combust" - traditional astrology stated that this meant that the power of our star overwhelmed the energy of our messenger planet. Said another way, there is a chance - especially for those of us who are especially mercurial - that the already hard-to-pin-down-while-in-retrograde energies of the Traveller will be completely lost to egos over the next couple of days and probably continuing through the rest of this weekend.
This is just a normal part of Mercury's retrograde cycle in the sense that Mercury does this twice every retrograde (they move backward over the sun during the retrograde and then forwards past the sun afterward when they turn direct again) so this can be considered business as usual. But the kind of business that you show up to and it has a sign up that says "Out to Lunch" that looks like it was written a fortnight ago.
I subscribe to the idea that when you cannot work, you might as well play. (I actually like the idea that you might as well play all of the time because my Venus is in Gemini, but I digress...) There is no doing right now, so its better to stop trying than keep pushing forward. There will be a time for deadlines, but that time is not now.
Accept it, or not, at your own peral.
Do you like my work? You can toss a coin to your astrologer on Kofi.

Gemini
World- This past year you’ve completed something that has brought you great fulfillment.
2.. Magician- Today you are taking action and manifesting your goals.
3. Eight of Swords- You should focus on any co-dependent relationships you have as we move into Spring. You don’t want to be powerless or willingly blinded. Leo got this too so maybe dealing with someone of this sign.

Knight of Wands- You are currently an adventurer. You are exploring your horizons. You are very driven in your life, but need to be mindful not to let your passion turn to recklessness. You are spontaneous but don’t become too unpredictable.
3. Seven of Cups- This upcoming season you need to reflect on your options. Don’t let your daydreams deceive you. Look at your choices without illusion or temptation.
Aquarius

Libra is a sign of weighing balances, associated with the fall equinox in the northern hemisphere and the spring equinox in the southern hemisphere when there is an equality of day and night around the world. The New Moon in Libra on September 25 is only a few days after the equinox, initiating us into a new season that will feature the most volatile astrology of the year. Libra excels at contemplation, intellectual pursuits and aesthetic arrangement, a sign that exalts the calculations of Saturn and consideration of consequences, a place where the centeredness of the Sun has its fall. The New Moon in Libra following the equinox so closely makes it ideal for reflection upon our path, ruminating upon the many strands of present development to lay plans for the meaning and purpose we wish to explore for the rest of the year. --Gray Crawdord Astrology https://graycrawford.net/2022/09/25/new-moon-in-libra-4/ New Moon in Libra

Fall equinox 2022
Arrives September 22, 2022 at 7:03 mst. The equinox happens twice a year when the sun passes over the equator. It represents the exact day of balance between daylight and darkness, and the fall equinox represents the end of summer. It also represents the sun moving into libra. A time to honor a change in season and what you have grown so far and to prepare to release what you won’t need for winter approaching. 🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁

Astronomy Inspired Design in Media: Part 8
Lord of the Ring: Rings of Power (2022)
Tumblr media
Episode 3: Adar
For about two seconds, as a ship moves into the inland, on the top of a watchtower, you’ll see this:
Tumblr media
This is appears reminiscent of the simplest form of the armillary sphere from the 1st century
Astronomers like Hipparchus would have used these devices to track the movement of important objects through the sky. The simplest form of the armillary sphere has four bands with the center object representing either the Earth in a geocentric model or the sun in a heliocentric model
The instrument on the top of the watchtower appears most similar to the old style of geocentric armillary spheres where the Earth is the center of the universe that all objects rotate around
Tumblr media
A: The Declination band
Declination is a range between 0-90 degrees in the Northern Hemisphere and -90-0 degrees in the Southern Hemisphere. It describes how far above the celestial equator an object like a star is and kind of acts like an astronomical latitude
B: Right Ascension band
Right ascension is a range from 0 hours to 24 hours and is the distance of a point east of the First Point of Aries. It is measured along the celestial equator and written in hours, minutes, and seconds. It acts almost like an astronomical longitude
C: Solstice band
The position that the solstice band sit represent the time when the summer and winter solstice occur (as they pass through the points Cancer and Capricorn)
D: Equinoctial band
The position that the equinoctial band sit represent when the spring and autumn equinoxes occur (as they pass through the points Aries and Libra in the ecliptic)
E: Earth (or Sun) at the center
The center represents the object that the sphere’s sky rotates around. In a heliocentric model this is the Sun and in the geocentric model this is the Earth
Tumblr media
Below are some artistic representations of the Ancient Greek astronomer Hipparchus observing the night sky with a large armillary nearby for determining the position of things like stars and celestial time
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If you haven’t already, I’d recommend giving Rings of Power a watch. It is a very fun and beautiful show with surprising sweet and thoughtful dialogue. This kind of hopeful storytelling is my favorite kind of fantasy story, I highly recommend watching just for the Elrond, Durin, and Harfoots storyline alone

“Astronomy Inspired Design in Media” is Wednesday (as I find them)

Welcome Libra!
Thursday - September 22, 2022
Tumblr media
After a rocky August and September, the charm, grace and beauty of Libra season is a welcome change ... except this Libra season is going to be riddled with some of what we experienced in last two months!
The Sun moves into Libra at 9:04pm ET US (1:04am Friday, UTC), opening the door to the Autumn Equinox for those in the Northern Hemisphere, and the Spring Equinox for those in the Southern Hemisphere.
That Libra sense of cooperation, diplomacy and sociability will be needed during the Sun's tour of the sign of the Scales. The astrological energies are going to feel rather one-sided, and Libra's ability to balance, or dance with an imbalance, is something you will need.
But it's also important during this time to remember the beauty and splendor Libra season brings in. The rich colors of Autumn dot the landscape of the Northern Hemisphere, while the renewal of Spring wakes the Southern Hemisphere from its Winter nap. There is no artist like that of Nature, and during some of the unsettling times that are ahead in October, don't let the majesty of Nature out of your sight.
As humans ignorantly find all kinds of ways to create imbalance, Nature reminds us of her ability to balance in ways humans have yet to understand.

The Worm Moon: March 2022 Full Moon
The March 2022 Full Moon occurs close to the Spring equinox. It may be time for re-birth but if you think that's easy then I have news for you...
The March 2022 Full Moon occurs on 18th March, close to the Spring equinox that happens only two days later. Like last month’s Full Moon in Leo/Virgo, this is another lunation that changes signs after a few hours – moving into Libra as the lunation progresses. This is the lunation that marks the start of spring, when worms start to appear above ground to show us that the planting season is about…

The Week Ahead: December 12-18, 2022
Lunar Phases
Monday, December 12, 06:40 UT - Disseminating Moon, 5°12’ Leo
The key phrases for the Disseminating lunar phase are to “teach, share, and comunicate” and to “ease up on efforts” with our projects. Leo is a good fit for both of those! It’s a creative and dramatic teacher, holding the students’ (or the audience’s) full attention - and it’s usually quite ready to loaf a bit.
Friday, December 16, 08:56 UT - Last Quarter Moon, 24°22’ Virgo
The key phrases for the Last Quarter lunar phase are to “turn away” from what we’ve been doing, and to “tear down old structures” that don’t serve us any more. Some of which may just vanish in the mist, I think - as for anything else, well, we are pretty bored with it.
Void of Course Moon
Tuesday, December 13, 14:09 UT (Leo) - Wednesday, December 14, 08:45 UT (Virgo)
(Watch out - 18 hours, 36 minutes!)
Friday, December 16, 19:13 UT (Virgo) - 19:49 UT (Libra)
Sunday, December 18, 22:35 UT (Libra) - Monday, December 19, 03:31 UT (Scorpio)
Retrograde/Direct/Etc.
Pre-retrograde shadow: Mercury/Capricorn (starting Monday the 12th), Ceres/Libra,
Retrograde: Mars/Gemini, Pallas Athene/Cancer, Chiron/Aries, Uranus/Taurus, Eris/Aries
Post-retrograde shadow: Juno/Pisces, Vesta/Pisces (until Monday the 12th), Jupiter/Pisces, Saturn/Aquarius
Transiting Mercury enters its pre-retrograde shadow on Monday, December 12, at 11:26 UT. Time to get serious-minded.
Transiting Vesta exits her post-retrograde shadow on Monday, December 12, at 19:41 UT. From now through most of 2023, Vesta will be less of an instigator and more of a trigger.
Ingress
Sunday, December 18, 23:26 UT - transiting Ceres enters Libra
I need to do a bit more thinking about this - because Ceres is in her Retrograde Zone, she isn’t going to stay in Libra very long. Usually I call these types of false starts “mulligans” and don’t give them much weight. However. The next Capricorn Solstice, Aries Equinox, and Cancer Solstice all feature the Sun in tight, partile aspect to Ceres. So it has to be factored in, even though there has to be a sort of “refresher course” in Virgo for Ceres. Hmmm.
Et Cetera
There is one Opportunity Period this week, on Tuesday, December 13, from 14:09 UT to 15:52 UT. “Short time to do the right thing; especially positive for reaching out to important people.”
A good week for getting our ducks in a row, and for finishing up with 2022. Beginning with Ceres’ ingress into Libra on Sunday - followed by Jupiter into Aries on Tuesday the 20th, the Capricorn Solstice on Wednesday the 21st, and the Capricorn New Moon on Friday the 23rd - we’re going to be very forward-oriented. (Or at least free to plan, since both Mars and Pallas Athene are retrograde!)

Energy Update: Libra Season 2021
Happy Autumnal Equinox and the start of Libra! Libra season is going to be a bit of a doozy this year as it includes the nadir of retrograde season - Mercury retrogrades from 9/27 - 10/18 which will also occur from 25-10° Libra. Mercury is also joined by Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto, and Chiron which will all be retrograde for some of the same time as Mercury. Libra is the sign of scales which implies balance but we have to keep in mind that there are low vibrational and high vibrational sides to all signs. High vibe Libra sees all sides of an issue and seeks compromise but low vibe Libra seeks to control through the veil of compromise - often using people-pleasing and emotional manipulation. Libra, the cardinal air sign ruled by Venus, can be overly concerned with the outward appearances of relationships - having things look good on the outside while there is a festering wound underneath. Ascetic Libra can get so lost in the ideal of something that they forget to come back down to earth and see what is really there. We've got some big truths to confront this month as the Sun, Mercury, and Mars make squares to Pluto in Capricorn and oppositions to our wounded healer Chiron in Aries. These read on the surface as pain points to revisit from 2020 as last year was characterized by squares between Mars (and Chiron) in Aries and our everything in Capricorn. Most specifically - during 2020, Mars in Aries (notably Libra's opposite sign) squared Pluto three times last year due to its own retrograde cycle: on 8/13/20, 9/29/20, and 12/23/20. If you are unsure of how this aspect will affect you, refer back to these days. Something that you thought was resolved around how we enact our desires may be coming up for review during this time. The truth is seldom kind and with Chiron in play, it may be downright painful. As the 7th sign, Libra can be prone to projecting their problems onto others and we are being asked to review, rework, and reimagine these tendencies all month long. Where have you been blaming others for problems that you created for yourself? Where have you labeled an outsider as Bad or Wrong because it was easier than stepping out of your ego and seeing them clearly? Here the opposition of Aries and Libra comes clearly into play. Though we call them opposites because of their placement in the chart wheel, Aries and Libra are often not very different from one another. While Aries's ego story is very concerned with the self and individual accomplishment, Libra's ego story is concerned with the perfection of coupling. This is a month to watch out for family enmeshment and co-dependency. We've spent a full year Othering anybody who was not inside of our bubble or family unit and look where it has gotten us. There is a sense that all that glitters is not gold - that no matter how silver-tongued the Libra story may be, you need to actually look - not with your favorite pair of rose-colored glasses - but with the harsh light of day. You may be forced to take on the perspective of somebody that you have Othered or otherwise wronged. The big flex this month is to extend grace to the people that you have treated poorly (let's be clear - we all have them). I hope for your sake that it's not your Other's that you have wronged but with Mercury retrograde in Libra (the sign of relationships), expect some relationship drama if you and your Other's haven't been being open and honest. Expect a drastic change in direction especially around 10/8-10/10 when the Sun, Mars, and retrograde Mercury form a stellium at 16° Libra. Projection is the big button issue all month - the flex is to recognize those tendencies in your own life and step away or make amends as fits the situation. This is a great month to unfollow the people that make you crazy in your life to create more peace of mind. This is a great month to work on seeing the perspective of your Others with whom you experience conflict. This is a great month to plan for that next step that you've been putting off because it makes
you uncomfortable. 2020, 2021, and to a lesser degree 2022 were HOT astrological years - the kind you see only once or twice in a lifetime. It's been a lot. I get it. We are all tired. We all want to nope out and go back to something that we want to call normal but likely wouldn't recognize anymore. But we're not quite to the end yet and we can't go backward - the only way out is through. Even as you are forced to reencounter some of you harder moments of the last year (maybe earlier depending on your life circumstances) - the big flex is to do it through the eyes of experience. Sure, you know that hole in the ground. Sure, you've fallen in it before. You might even have SCARS from that very same hole. See it there. Take a moment to recognize it. Name it. And then walk the fuck around it. Master that and you have nothing left to fear about retrograde season.
