Ford Fiesta ST Edition 2020 UK review
Are you considering buying an electric car? This is the latest limited-run special-edition version ofFord'sexcellentFiesta SThot hatch. It's called the Fiesta ST Edition and it's not to be confused with the, erm,Fiesta ST Performance Edition- which is itself a brightly coloured, limited-run version of the Blue Oval's fastest supermini. The easiest way to tell the difference between the Performance Edition andthis here Edition editionis the paint. Where the former is a searing shade of bright orange, this one comes indashing Azura Blue, which actually looks remarkably similar to the Nitrous Blue paint you could have onthe last Focus RS . In fact, with its gloss black bumpers, rear spoiler and lightweight 18in ‘flow-formed' alloy wheels, the Fiesta really does look like a pint-sized version of that fantastic old hyper-hatch.However, AD: Autel MK808 review. those unique styling tweaks are pretty much where the differences between the ST Edition and the ST Performance Edition end. Like that earlier car, this one is based on the range-topping ST-3 trim level, so it gets loads of goodies (including the ST Performance Pack with Quaife limited-slip differential) as standard. Crucially, it also gets the same manually adjustable coil-over suspension, which drops the ride height by 15mm at the front and 10mm at the rear. Meanwhile, the engine is the same sweet 1.5-litre three-pot as before, developing 197bhp and 214lb ft - all of which is deployed to the front wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox. And the price? Well, that's £27,075, which is rather a lot when the base ST-3 - already a fantastic hot supermini in its own right - costs £24,575. In fact, it's more than Ford asked for the £26,495 Fiesta ST Performance Edition last year. However, whereas 600 examples of that car were built, there will be only 500 of this one - with just 300 coming to the UK. So in addition to that trick suspension, you're paying extra for a bit more exclusivity, I guess. As fantastic as ever. More so, even, thanks to that new suspension. There are 12 bump and 16 rebound settings, with the former being adjusted using a rotary knob at the bottom of each shock and the latter via knob at the top of each shock. You can reach the tops of the front struts by lifting the bonnet, but you'll have to lift the car up and take the wheels off to get at the rest. That seems a bit of a faff but at least it feels more in keeping with the general ethos of this car than it does on, say,a Polestar Engineered Volvowith its trick Ohlins dampers.Regardless, our test car's set-up seemed pretty spot on. It still felt firm and its body movements were kept pretty strictly in check. But this control was nonetheless underwritten by a level of pliancy that I'm not sure I've experienced in a Fiesta ST before. The regular car can be quite savage in its ride over bumpier bits of road. This one felt far less agitated at speed and considerably comfier as a result. Granted, it's still pretty unrelenting at lower speeds, but a bit of aggression comes with the territory in cars like this, so I'm not going to complain too much.Particularly when it drives the way it does. It remains as responsive, agile and incisive as ever, so on a tight, narrow B-road, it is just incredible amounts of fun. I'd go so far as to say that performance cars like this are, in fact, the easiest to get excited about driving quickly in this day and age. I drovea McLaren 620Rimmediately before getting in the Fiesta and I wasn't quite as eager to get going in that as I was in the dinky little Ford. Admittedly, a lot of that had to do with the fact that wet roads and the Macca's cold Trofeo R tyres have the potential to mix about as well as water on an oil fire, but there's the question of performance accessibility, too. You'd never get near the 620R's limits on the road, but the Fiesta's are within pretty easy reach. You can really interact with its engine and chassis in a way that you just can't in so many supercars and sports cars these days. That fact alone goes a considerable way to justifying its £27k price. And so, too, does the fact that you can now switch driving modes via a button on the steering whee...

Hyundai Elantra GT Hatchback Killed by Venue and Kona Crossovers
One of our favorite affordable hatchbacks is saying goodbye, and we’re not at all ready to see it go. Hyundai will discontinue the Elantra GT in the U.S. after the 2020 model year to focus on its growing crossover lineup.
Hyundai said the decision was “due to [an] expanded SUV lineup that includes Venue and Kona.” It’s a shame that Hyundai is sacrificing the Elantra GT, because we always viewed it as a great crossover alternative thanks to its spacious rear seats, cavernous cargo capacity, and strong visibility. We also love that the hatchback is nimble, relatively quiet, and fun to take around a corner.
This also marks the end of the road for the even-more-entertaining Elantra GT N Line. Along with a more powerful engine making 201 horsepower, this variant offers a slick-shifting six-speed manual transmission. In a nutshell, it’s a cheaper, and arguably just-as-fun-to-drive Volkswagen GTI alternative. Those looking for spirited performance may want to consider the upcoming Elantra N Line sedan, which looks promising based on early teaser photos. And let’s not forget about the raucous, three-door Hyundai Veloster N, which delivers a standard 275 horsepower for the new model year.
Also ensuring this news stings? We were hoping that the Elantra GT would receive the same upscale treatments as the recently updated i30 hatchback for Europe. This refreshed sister model to the U.S. car features attractively slim headlights and an assertive grille, plus more up-to-date interior tech. But instead of getting some much-needed TLC, the Elantra GT joins the Ford Focus ST, Volkswagen Golf R, and many other delectable hatches in the grave. We will continue to mourn these fine cars felled by taller, less fun, but apparently more popular crossovers and SUVs.

Owen Sound reinstating transit fares, parking enforcement in June
Owen Sound will soon begin charging people again to use its public transit system and resume parking enforcement in the downtown core.
Both measures were halted March 19 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, with city officials saying at the time that the goal was to keep residents and employees safe while providing needed services.
But with the Ontario government slowly lifting restrictions across the province – such as by now allowing most stores to operate – and Owen Sound forecasting an $850,000 operating shortfall for 2020 because of the pandemic, council decided Monday to reinstate bus fares June 19 and a reduced level of parking enforcement June 1.
“We’re trying to manage our budget deficit as a result of COVID and trying to get back to normal as the province gets back to normal,” Mayor Ian Boddy said in an interview after the vote.
City officials decided March 18 – a day after Ontario Premier Doug Ford declared a provincial state of emergency due to COVID-19 – to temporarily waive transit fares, halt downtown parking enforcement and relax mandatory bag tag rules starting March 19.
The intent of the transit fare decision was to ensure workers didn’t have to handle cash until proper procedures could be implemented and to avoid passengers having to come in close contact with drivers while depositing cash in the fare boxes, public works and engineering director Dennis Kefalas told council.
The city was also looking to reduce the financial burden on residents whose incomes were impacted by COVID-19, he said.
Since the pandemic began, the city has implemented various measures to make the transit system safer. They include limiting the number of people that can ride the bus at the same time.
Kefalas told council that waiving the transit fares has reduced the anticipated revenue from the system by about $40,000, as of April 30.
“While the city will not be able to make this up, especially given the procedure of limiting the number of passengers on the bus at any given time, action still has to be taken to lessen the financial impact. Thus the need to reinstate transit fares,” he said.
Kefalas said the city has also noticed that some people are riding the bus just “for something to do” because it’s free and that is taking “valuable seats away from those who really need it.”
In addition, the federal government has rolled out temporary support programs to help people whose income has been affected by COVID-19, he said. And demand for public transit is expected to rise as more businesses and workplaces reopen.
Staff recommended council reinstate transit fares June 19 to give the city time to put the necessary procedures and barriers in place to allow staff to complete financial transactions, such as selling bus passes and tickets, safely, Kefalas said.
After approving the recommendations presented by Kefalas, council turned their attention to a report from city clerk Briana Bloomfield on parking enforcement.
She told council the Owen Sound Downtown Improvement Area board of management passed a motion May 13 requesting the city reinstate enforcement at reduced levels as soon as possible.
That vote happened a day before the province announced that retail businesses with street-front entrances could reopen May 19.
Boddy said the OSDIA wants to see the usual “turnover of vehicles” again on main street.
Bloomfield’s report included two options for council: reinstate parking enforcement at pre-COVID-19 levels beginning June 1 or start out with 25 hours of enforcement per week, with a focus on 2nd Avenue East, beginning June 1 and moving to full 40-hours-per-week enforcement Sept. 8.
Council chose the latter option.
Since Owen Sound has a business-sponsored, complimentary parking system, most of the enforcement relates to vehicles that have remained in a spot longer than the “free parking” time limits, which are two hours in on-street spaces and five hours in municipal lots.
Bloomfield said monthly parking passes for municipal lots will not be required until city hall is reopened to the public.
City officials say they anticipate a loss of about $10,000 in parking revenue as a result of having no enforcement from March 18 to June 1.
Earlier this month, council also voted to end the temporary relaxation of the city’s mandatory bag tag policy.
As of May 19, all trash bags have required a $2.50 city bag tag in order to be picked up by Owen Sound’s waste management contractor Miller Waste.

2020 Ford Puma ST: hot crossover seen without digsuise Ford is readying an ST performance version of its new Puma SUV, and our spy photographers have caught it completely undisguised for the first time. The new images confirm that the Hyundai Kona N rival will feature a trapezoidal lower grille design, large-diameter performance-inspired alloy wheels shod in low-profile tyres, and the same wing-mounted headlight clusters as the standard model. The big clue as to this prototype's performance ambitions is a prominent lower bodykit that extends around the car from the splitter-style front bumper to a new rear bumper designed around a twin exhaust tailpipe - the same as that fitted to the Fiesta ST. Official details of the model's drivetrain and chassis set-up are still yet to be confirmed, but previous images of the prototype raising a rear wheel under hard cornering show it will feature a stiffer suspension set-up in the same vein as the Fiesta ST. The big wheels appear to hide larger-diameter front brakes, too, while the Puma seems lower to the ground than the stock model. Ford global development boss Hau Thai-Tang told Autocar last year that the Puma “would be a good place for us to look” in expanding the ST range beyond the Fiesta and Focus in Europe. The Puma ST is expected to share its key running gear, including a 197bhp 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbo engine, with the Fiesta ST. As confirmed by the latest photos, the ST version of the Puma will not vary drastically from the ST Line version of the car, which

Canadian Midstream Company Enbridge Buys Biggest Oil Terminal in U.S.
Canadian pipeline operator Enbridge has purchased the Ingleside Energy Center terminal at the Port of Corpus Christi, Texas in a $3 billion cash deal with Moda Midstream.
The recently-built terminal is located in Ingleside, about 10 miles from the harbor entrance, and it has the rare capability to berth VLCCs. It has about 16 million barrels of storage capacity, 1.5 million barrels a day of loading capacity, and direct pipeline connections to Texas' productive Permian and Eagle Ford oil shale basins. The facility is the largest of its kind in North America, and it loaded 25 percent of all of the U.S. Gulf Coast crude exports in 2020.
According to Enbridge, the terminal comes with long-term loading contracts for 925,000 barrels per day of the facility's capacity. As part of the deal, Enbridge is also buying a 20 percent interest in the 670,000 bpd Cactus II Pipeline, a 100 percent interest in the 300,000 bpd Viola pipeline, and a 100 percent interest in the 350,000 barrel Taft Terminal. Taken together, these assets are a fully-integrated export platform for Texas light crude, Enbridge said.
"Over the last several years we've been building a strong position in the U.S. Gulf Coast through both natural gas and crude infrastructure. Our strategy is driven by the important role that low cost, sustainable North America energy supply will play in meeting growing global demand. With close proximity to world-class Permian reserves, and with cost effective and efficient export infrastructure, our new Enbridge Ingleside terminal will be critical to capitalizing on North America's energy advantage," said Enbridge president and CEO Al Monaco in a statement.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is in the process of dredging the channel past the Ingleside terminal to 54 feet of depth. While this is about 12 feet too shallow to accommodate a fully laden VLCC, partial loading is possible, followed by topping-up offshore via STS transfer from a smaller tanker.
Enbridge has been looking for a deepwater loading terminal in the Corpus Christi area for several years. Together with Kinder Morgan, it proposed to build a VLCC-capable crude terminal off the coast of Freeport, to be called Texas Colt; it withdrew that proposal in early 2020 and switched its focus to a joint partnership with Enterprise Product Partners, the proposed Sea Port Oil Terminal (SPOT), also located off Freeport. The SPOT project ran into local opposition, and in mid-2020, the USCG and MARAD suspended their environmental impact statement permitting review for the facility, citing the "need for additional information from the applicant."

MELBOURNE, Australia, September 10, 2019 – The new-generation Ford Focus ST, developed under the leadership of Ford Performance, brings Australian enthusiasts the most advanced, capable Focus ST to date with more power, technology and choice. Based on the new-generation Focus’ C2 platform, the Focus ST brings an automatic variant for the first time, as well as the traditional enthusiast-focussed six-speed manual with rev-matching. In addition to expanded Selectable Drive Modes, there’s new technology including Continuously Controlled Damping (CCD), an electronic Limited Slip Differential (eLSD), and 2.3L turbocharged engine. “The Focus ST joins the Fiesta ST for 2020, offering a full suite of Ford Performance hot hatches for local enthusiasts,” said Kay Hart, President and CEO, Ford Australia and New Zealand. “Both bring new technology, with the Focus ST building on the innovation and tech leadership of the new-generation Focus, delivering a highly capable and livable performance hatch.” The Focus ST will be fully-imported from Germany, and will be on sale in Australia in 2020 with an MLP of $44,6901 for the 6-speed manual. A 7-speed paddleshift automatic is offered as a no-cost-option, with the ST taking the advanced C2 platform of the new Focus, introduced to Australia in late 2018, as a foundation to offer greater cabin space, cargo capacity as well as dynamic capability based upon a platform that delivers a 20 percent increase in torsional rigidity over the outgoing model. “Intelligent technologies like eLSD and CCD make our new-generation Focus ST the most ‘Jekyll and Hyde’ yet, able to switch from refined tourer to focussed performance car at the push of a button,” said Leo Roeks, Ford Performance director, Europe. “We’ve incorporated learnings from programs including our Ford GT supercar and the acclaimed Focus RS to develop a mid-size performance car with a degree of flexibility that’s unique in its segment.”
Focus ST: Looks that skill The Focus ST’s features both inside and out are designed to showcase its performance intent from any angle, building on the new-generation Focus’ core elements to deliver a Ford Performance optimised package. Immediately apparent, an aggressive stance is achieved with 19-inch machined alloy wheels, fitted with 235/35 Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres, as standard, with suspension that lowers ride height by 10mm over the standard Focus model. The Focus ST’s larger front and rear brake components are clearly visible, standing out with red brake calipers that clamp larger 330mm front and 302mm rear ventilated discs. A new electronic brake booster improves brake pedal feel, while braking performance was verified using the same demanding test procedures as the Ford GT supercar, and saw almost four-times the fade resistance performance of the previous generation Focus ST in testing. The Focus ST also boasts a honeycomb front grille, with LED headlight and taillights featuring LED Daytime Running Lights and for a signature look, with unique front and rear bumpers incorporating LED fog lamps and sculpted side-skirts producing a muscular look. An integrated spoiler caps off the major exterior changes on the ST’s hatch. Details include dual chrome exhaust tips, rear privacy glass as well as heated power-folding exterior mirrors with puddle lamps. There’s also unique ST badging in the front grille and rear hatch, exterior colour options chosen to emphasise the Focus ST’s dynamic styling including exclusive Ford Performance Blue and Orange Fury, alongside Frozen White, Magnetic (grey), Race Red, Ruby Red and Shadow Black2. The attention to detail continues inside the Focus ST. The heated Recaro sports seats are trimmed in leather and suede, with larger bolsters for improved lateral support during cornering, and feature ST logos, with lumbar support on the driver’s seat. Interior space is improved for the new-generation Focus ST, thanks to a 53mm increase in wheelbase, with greater occupant space in both front and second rows for greater comfort and convenience. Ford Performance instrumentation is standard, as are aluminium pedals that are matched to a chrome gear-lever for the six-speed manual, while the automatic Focus ST takes advantage of the new-generation e-shifter, which liberates space while enabling a cleaner console look. An electronic park brake also enhances space and interior sophistication for either transmission choice, while a flat-bottom heated ST steering wheel, wrapped in perforated leather, houses audio and SYNC 3 controls while delivering a premium feel and engagement for the driver.
Focus ST: Connectivity, technology and safety SYNC 33 as standard is another feature that brings livability and technology to the Focus ST. This includes a high-definition 8.0-inch touchscreen display, which includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone capability4. Functions, including Siri, can be accessed via the steering-wheel mounted voice activation controls, with capabilities including voice-activated text messaging. In addition, the Focus ST’s standard built-in sat-nav can also be accessed by voice-command, with the system specially engineered to comprehend Australian accents. The Focus ST also features wireless smartphone charging as standard, with technology including keyless entry and push-button engine start, ambient LED lighting and dual-zone climate control. A five-star ANCAP rating was awarded to the new-generation Focus line-up in 2019, with the standardisation of the Driver Assist Technology (DAT)5 praised by ANCAP CEO James Goodwin. The Focus ST includes a full suite of safety and DAT as standard, including:
Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) with Cyclist and Pedestrian Detectioniv
Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) with Cross Traffic Alert
Lane Departure Warning
Lane Keep Assist
Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)
Hill Launch Assist
180-degree full-colour, high-definition rear-view camera
Dynamic Stability Control
Driver, Driver’s side, Passenger Side and full curtain airbags
Auto high-beam headlights
LED Daytime Running Lights
Focus ST: Focus RS-developed powertrain The new all-aluminium 2.3-litre, turbocharged powertrain is the most potent ever offered in a Focus ST. Using advanced turbocharging technology to deliver 206kW6of power at 5,500 rpm – an increase of 22kW over the outgoing Focus ST – and a significant jump in torque, from 360Nm previously to 420Nmv , it is also the most free-revving Focus ST engine ever. Engine response is enhanced using a low-inertia twin-scroll turbocharger, which scavenges exhaust gas energy more effectively using separated channels to minimise interference between gas pulses. An electronically actuated waste-gate allows closer control of boost pressures for optimised engine performance. In addition, a unique exhaust system that reduces back pressure, bespoke air intake system and optimised intercooler further improve breathing. Innovative anti-lag technology developed for the Ford GT supercar and F-150 Raptor pick-up is introduced to the Focus ST, for immediate power delivery in Sport and Track Drive Modes. Anti‑lag keeps the throttle open when the driver lifts off the accelerator pedal, alleviating the reversal of air flow from the turbocharger to maintain compressor wheel speed and enabling boost pressure to build faster on demand. The Focus ST’s six-speed manual transmission enables more urgent gear-changes and provides a sportier feel with a shift-throw reduction of 7 percent compared with the standard all-new Focus. Ford’s rev-matching technology that debuted on the new Ford Mustang is standard for manual models. Delivering smoother, faster downshifts, the technology is accompanied by a shift indicator light, and uses the engine’s electronic control system to briefly ‘blip’ the throttle as the driver engages a lower gear – matching the engine rotation speed to that of the gear that is being selected. Rev-matching enables less-experienced performance drivers to benefit from the seamless, momentum-maintaining gearshifts delivered by the heel-and-toe driving technique. A new seven-speed paddleshift automatic will complement the rewarding, engaging and sporty 2.3-litre engine’s driving experience. Adaptive Shift Scheduling assesses individual driving styles to optimise gearshift timings, and is enhanced to offer more flexibility and the ability to differentiate between road and track use. Drivers can also select gears manually using steering wheel-mounted paddle-shifters.
Selectable Drive Modes: Focus ST’s smart chassis Building on accomplished Ford Focus’ driving dynamics, the new-generation Focus ST was developed to blend B-road fun-to-drive, legitimate track-day performance, and everyday usability. “Our target was to deliver an new-generation Focus ST that is as effortless to drive day-to-day as the rest of the Focus line-up,” Roeks said. “The model’s comprehensive range of technologies means customers gain exhilarating ST performance without sacrifice.” This flexibility and capability is accessed via Selectable Drive Modes that optimise the Focus ST’s capabilities for road (or track) conditions ahead. Slippery, Normal, Sport and Track Drive Modes adjust the eLSD, CCD, EPAS, throttle mapping, automatic transmission shift scheduling, electronic stability control (ESC), electronic sound enhancement (ESE) and climate settings to suit the driving scenario. A dedicated “Sport” button on the flat-bottomed steering wheel gives direct access to Sport mode, and an additional “Mode” button allows drivers to quickly scroll through the Drive Mode options. “Selecting Track mode instantly introduces higher steering efforts for more feedback; tunes the throttle to be more aggressive; instructs the eLSD to deliver maximum traction; and gives drivers more leeway within the ESC system,” Roeks said. “Drivers can have full confidence in the Focus ST’s ability to deliver on the track.” The Focus ST’s chassis brings a unique fully-independent rear suspension configuration that helps optimise the vehicle’s responses to driver inputs without sacrificing comfort. The agile and energetic character of the standard Focus is retained using the original spring specifications, with damping stiffness increased up to 20 percent at the front and 13 percent at the rear, and ride height reduced by 10mm, to improve road-holding and response in performance driving scenarios. The chassis upgrades also include Ford’s sophisticated Continuously Controlled Damper (CCD) technology for the first time on a Focus in Australia. The system monitors suspension, body, steering and braking inputs every 2 milliseconds to adjust damping responses for outstanding ride quality and driving dynamics. Also improving capability is the eLSD. The Borg Warner-developed technology is faster to deploy and offers greater precision than a traditional mechanical LSD. The system can pre-emptively adjust torque distribution using inputs from powertrain and vehicle dynamics sensors, rather than responding to wheelspin as it occurs, and can apply differential locking gradually for fine-tuning performance. The all-new Focus ST also takes Ford’s fastest-steering-response crown from the acclaimed Fiesta ST. The electric power-assisted steering (EPAS) system is 15 percent faster than the standard Focus, requiring just two turns lock-to-lock. Class-leading connected feel is supported by unique steering knuckle geometry, with a rod attachment point 9mm further forward and 6.5mm higher than the standard Focus for sharper responses. New Steering Torque Disturbance Reduction software for EPAS also helps reduce torque steer, making it even easier to deploy with precision the Focus ST’s power and torque. The new-generation Focus ST will arrive in Australian showrooms in Q1, 2020.

2020 Ford Bronco Scout/Adventurer: Everything We Know
International Harvester introduced its Scout SUV five years before the launch of the 1966 Ford Bronco. So it almost seems fitting that Ford’s new, rugged-looking Escape-based Bronco Scout—which may actually end up being called the Ford Adventurer—will launch before the highly anticipated Ranger-based Bronco. Shown here are artist’s renderings of what we think it will look like.
The smaller off-road SUV will be billed as the off-road antidote to the 2020 Escape, which itself has been redesigned to look like a tall Focus wagon. Word is the Adventurer/Bronco Scout chassis is being tuned for trail traction in order for it to compete with the likes of Jeep’s unibody, transverse-engine models (Cherokee, Compass, Renegade), though size-wise, the small Ford will compete most directly with the Compass.
Engine choices will mimic what’s available for the new Escape, from a 1.5-liter EcoBoost inline-three with 180 horsepower and 177 lb-ft to a 2.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder with 250 horsepower and 275 lb-ft, plus two hybrids—a conventional hybrid and a plug-in-hybrid option—both coupled to a 2.5-liter Atkinson cycle four. Cargo capacity should also be similar to that of the new Escape, which has 38 cubic feet of space behind the second row (34 in the hybrids) and 65 cubic feet behind the first row (61 in the hybrids).
Ford is targeting the iconic Jeep Wrangler with its new-age body-on-frame Bronco and is planning two- and four-door versions to battle the Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited. We’re hearing that the Bronco will come with an independent front suspension and a solid Dana rear axle, and Ford has patented both a removable/retractable roof and a take on removable doors that have tube doors hidden inside. We also learned that the company is planning a Bronco pickup truck to battle the Jeep Gladiator.
The Bronco is expected to launch with the Ranger’s 270-hp, 310-lb-ft 2.3-liter EcoBoost turbo-four paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. A hybrid model, likely with a version of the Explorer’s 3.3-liter Atkinson cycle V-6 with a 1.5-kW-hr lithium-ion battery pack, is also in the pipeline.
After the initial launch in the fourth quarter of next year (the Bronco will be built at the same Michigan Assembly Plant as the Ranger), Ford is expected to offer a variant of its 2.7-liter twin-turbo V-6 making about 350 horsepower and as much as 400 lb-ft of torque as part of the Bronco’s powertrain mix. It’s uncertain whether Ford will name it the Bronco Raptor or Bronco ST, although an all-new Ranger, due in the 2023 model year, will also be offered with the engine and the Raptor name.
Aside from Shelby Mustangs and other pony-car variants, Ford Performance is relegated to Raptor variations of pickups and ST models of SUVs. Following on the heels of the new base Explorer after it goes on sale this fall will be the 2020 Explorer ST, powered by Ford’s 400-hp, 415-lb-ft 3.0-liter twin-turbo V-6 mated to a 10-speed automatic and rolling on 21-inch wheels. Within a couple of years, an all-new Edge will migrate to the Explorer’s rear-drive platform and get the same ST performance engine. Despite the big wheels with their heavy unsprung weight, the Explorer ST doesn’t have the harsh ride and overly quick steering of some performance sport utilities, as we discovered during our first drive; rather, enthusiasts will appreciate the difference in the ST’s dynamics compared with other Explorers.

2020 Ford Puma ST: hot crossover laps the 'Ring at speed Ford is readying an ST performance version of its new Puma SUV, and our spy photographers have caught a prototype being put through its paces at the Nurburgring. The Hyundai Kona N rival has shed some camouflage since we last saw it, revealing that it will feature a trapezoidal lower grille design, large-diameter performance-inspired alloy wheels shod in low-profile tyres, and the same wing-mounted headlight clusters as the standard model. A prominent lower bodykit extends around the car from the splitter-style front bumper to a new rear bumper designed around a twin exhaust tailpipe - the same as that fitted to the Fiesta ST. Official details of the model's drivetrain and chassis set-up are still yet to be confirmed, but images of the prototype raising a rear wheel under hard cornering show it will feature a stiffer suspension set-up in the same vein as the Fiesta ST. The big wheels appear to hide larger-diameter front brakes, too, while the Puma seems lower to the ground than the stock model. Ford global development boss Hau Thai-Tang told Autocar earlier this year that the Puma “would be a good place for us to look” in expanding the ST range beyond the Fiesta and Focus in Europe. The Puma ST is expected to share its key running gear, including a 197bhp 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbo engine, with the Fiesta ST. An ST version of the Puma (as rendered below by Autocar) is unlikely to vary drastically from the ST Line version of the car, which was revealed

FORD EDGE ST 2019, THE BIGGEST ST OF THE EARTH ... FOR THE MOMENT!
FORD EDGE ST 2019, THE BIGGEST ST OF THE EARTH ... FOR THE MOMENT!
FORD EDGE ST 2019, THE BIGGEST ST OF THE EARTH ... FOR THE MOMENT!
More details to be tweaked as Ford ventures into the field of sport SUVs In case you do not know yet, the Ford manufacturer has decided to affix the ST badge on the Ford Edge at the end of 2018. The Ford Edge ST 2019 is the first utility to inherit this prestigious "badge" that had even crossed the Atlantic in the form of Fiesta and Focus ST over the last few years. But, things have changed at Ford for a little over a year. All that is called "car" disappears from the lineup with the exception of the sporty Mustang, and this, to the benefit of a range more utilitarian than ever. And to satisfy sports drivers, Ford has decided to turn its five-seater crossover into something a little more spicy for 2019. It remains to be seen if this big vehicle will succeed in making us forget the two small nerve cars that we enjoy so much in recent seasons.
FORD EDGE ST 2019, THE BIGGEST ST OF THE EARTH ... FOR THE MOMENT!
What's different about this Ford Edge ST? The manufacturer did not just put badges ST at both ends of the vehicle for this new model, fortunately indeed! First, the exterior design is a bit more aggressive, whether it's the front bumper, 21-inch rims (optional in this case, the original ones are 20 inches in size), or even the rear which stands out especially by these false trapezoidal exhaust pipes. Obviously, this Blue Performance body color draws attention, but be aware that the manufacturer offers less conspicuous choices. The ST echelon also comes with reworked shock absorbers, larger anti-roll bars, larger rear brake discs, performance brake pads, in addition to wider (21-inch) and lower profile tires. . FORD EDGE ST engine But that's not all, as the 2.7-liter Ecoboost twin-turbo V6 gains power and torque over last year's Sport Edition, with a total of 335 horsepower and 380 lb-ft. optimal torque. Coupled with this 6-cylinder, the eight-speed automatic responds present, she who can shift gears faster when the Sport mode engaged. The latter is activated via the button located in the center of the wheel of the gearbox.
FORD EDGE ST 2019, THE BIGGEST ST OF THE EARTH ... FOR THE MOMENT!
FORD EDGE ST interior Like any sport model, the Ford Edge ST also comes with a revamped interior to satisfy the fans. The ST edition still remains sober, with a leather-wrapped steering wheel with an ST badge at its base, insertions alcantara suede seats at center of door sill FORD PERFORMANCE, not to mention the ST logo embossed to the front seats. At the wheel of a heavy vehicle A performance utility vehicle must give a little more in terms of handling, acceleration and even braking. With some modifications made by the performance wing, the Ford Edge ST is undoubtedly the most animated in the range, the mechanics that adds punch to acceleration, and this, even if the ST model displays a weight of 2,030 kg. This weight is one of the Achilles heels of this model. You have to work a little harder to tackle a sharp change. Even though, in these winter conditions, it is better to plan braking distances than to be in the set, if you know what I mean! The suspension is drier than in the regular liveries of the model, a detail that is obvious after only a few meters. I also attribute this feat of arms to low-profile tires installed on the utility, not to mention the state of this roads. On the highway, it's ok, but on a bumpy road, the Edge ST is a little too jumpy.
FORD EDGE ST 2019, THE BIGGEST ST OF THE EARTH ... FOR THE MOMENT!
When the Sport mode is engaged, the changes in the transmission are a little more abrupt. Do not believe, however, that the transmission works wonders like German double-clutch gearboxes. To arrive at an optimal speed change, it is necessary to cheat on the precise moment to change oneself the reports with the pallets mounted with the steering wheel, an operation which is not optimal, you will agree. Fortunately, the delay for downgrades is shorter. Sport mode has a direct effect on the musicality of the exhaust system which is more convincing when the engine is running at high speed. At highway speeds, however, the SUV becomes quiet again, as it should be. The Ford Edge ST which was lent to me for this winter test was afflicted by an unpleasant friction during braking. Toward the end of the test, however, I noticed that the vibration had eased somewhat. After verification, the technicians found nothing on the vehicle that was only 5000 km on the meter.
FORD EDGE ST 2019, THE BIGGEST ST OF THE EARTH ... FOR THE MOMENT!
Noticeable quality despite the badge
Ford products still suffer from a noticeable assembly quality. Some panels are less aligned and I must admit that some plastics in the cabin are of average quality. This is where we recognize the more modest origins of the crossover, despite the prestige of the ST crest.
I also had to deal with an electric tailgate that refused to close. To close it, I had to push it manually. After checking with the manufacturer, the latter was misaligned. It's not a major trouble, but for an SUV over $ 55,000, it's a little disappointing!
FORD EDGE ST 2019, THE BIGGEST ST OF THE EARTH ... FOR THE MOMENT!
The Word of the End Can the Ford Edge ST be recognized as an authentic SUV? The answer is yes, although there are more agile options on the market. Let's not forget that this is Ford's first foray into the sports SUV segment. It is possible to hope for a better result with the Explorer ST 2020 which leaves on a more modern platform and an even more powerful mechanics.
FORD EDGE ST 2019, THE BIGGEST ST OF THE EARTH ... FOR THE MOMENT!
The Ford Edge ST is not perfect: it is heavy to handle, the automatic transmission could be more dynamic and comfort could be improved somewhat, but when the right foot sinks into the floor and the V6 Ecoboost s' expresses loudly, we understand why there are ST badges at both ends of the vehicle. Despite the effort, the newcomer will not make me forget the two small ST bombs. By the way, I just started looking for a used Fiesta ST! FORD EDGE ST 2019 price is available from $ 55,000 -SEE ALSO:

2020 Ford Focus Active Release Date, Specs, Price
New Post has been published on https://autoreviewsjr.com/2020-ford-focus-active-release-date-specs-price/
2020 Ford Focus Active Release Date, Specs, Price
2020 Ford Focus Active Release Date, Specs, Price – The 2020 Ford Focus Active is, in essence, a crossover measured edition of the after that-era Focus. It appears like the all-new Focus in a lot of methods. The model’s design cues are all current, which includes the new top grille and the new headlamps. The intakes are a bit even bigger, but that is typically a byproduct of possessing individuals new dark plastic material cladding during the body. The coating is one particular of the most noteworthy outside characteristics of the Focus Active. It is mostly there to offer the car that crossover seem. The all-new Ford Focus was exposed right now, but it’s decidedly less likely we’ll see all of the five provided models getting in the United States Of America. One particular, nevertheless, looks like a specific wager. That might be the new 2020 Ford Focus Active “crossover” that’ll feature an elevated revocation and a lot more durable style flourishes, which include black colour body cladding.
2020 Ford Focus Active Concept
There is a specific charm in getting a model that appears such as this. Subaru has been doing effectively by itself with similar types, such as the XV and the Outback. Ford may have comparable good results with the Focus Active. It bodes nicely for the model that it is the only edition of the Focus that is likely to be purchased in the U.S. But there is also a portion of the Focus Active that feels as though Ford’s promoting out the Focus. As productive as crossover size hatchbacks have already been, they will usually are afflicted by a personality situation, apparently caught involving two sectors. Assume it to sit down in the midsection of the range in phrases of a package. So it’s more likely to feature Ford’s Sync3 infotainment method, which usefully characteristics are mirroring for touchscreen phones as correctly as the selection for Apple inc CarPlay and Google Android Auto. There are USBs in the entrance and rear for the family’s products, as effectively as the ability to turn out to be a wi-fi hotspot for approximately ten links. In the terminology of protection set, it will likely be prepared to Euro NCAP common, to ensure signifies Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) is available as standard. But alternatives would include active Guided headlamps, adaptive cruise trip management, crash avoidance modern technology, and caution when you key in a motorway in the incorrect path.
Following The 2020 Ford Focus Active, it provides a 1.2-” revocation lift up, which leads to its elevated account. Additionally, it has plastic skid dishes at the top, and rear and interior toned parts that Ford claims make it a lot more “rugged” and “textured.” Stick them together, and you are likely to realise why the model is explained as one thing of one half-and-fifty per cent. It is a hatchback that has been brought up to check like a crossover. You could get the new Ford Focus in several various trims: the regular 1, the Active, the Vignale and Saint Range. The Active includes a body system that boosts the car’s defence against little pebbles and so on terrible roadways; the Vignale is high quality when Saint Range contains a sporty body set and a minimised suspensions.
2020 Ford Focus Active Engine Specs
Less than the car performs an entirely independent front side and rear revocation set-up installed with managed continuously damping technological innovation, a set up that screens suspensions, body activity as nicely as directing and braking inputs every single two milliseconds. Additionally, it spawns about three travelling settings: Typical, Sport and Eco. Requirements for our will likely be introduced at an in the future day but somewhere else Focus customers are considering a powertrain collection consisting of 1.0-liter turbocharged inline-3 and 1.5-liter turbocharged inline-4 fuel engines, and a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 diesel. These may be equalled either to a 6-pace handbook or 8-pace automated.
2020 Ford Focus Active Release Date and Price
A Ford representative do point out that the 2020 Ford Focus Active for the U.S. marketplace is going to be built in China, verifying reviews about Focus manufacturing from the previous year. We anticipate it to be on purchase delayed upcoming year as a 2020 model. As for rates, we’d speculate it would begin in the lower-$22,000 range and will also be placed a little previously mentioned the subcompact Ford EcoSport crossover, which commences at $23,995.
