Some of the Rarest and Most Expensive Chevrolet Impalas Ever Made
Tumblr media
One of the most well-known American automakers, Chevrolet has produced a variety of iconic vehicles, including the Cavalier, Silverado, Camaro, and Impala. The Chevrolet Impala, introduced in 1958, is one of the company's highest-selling vehicles, with more than 13 million units moved from its inception until 2000, including 1.05 million alone in 1965, when it was the best-selling car in the United States. US News & World Report ranked the Impala as the most affordable large car in 2014, but Chevrolet has produced several high-priced luxury editions of the vehicle over the years.
The Impala Z11 is one of the rarest and most expensive editions of the vehicle Chevy ever produced. Boasting a 430 horsepower engine with 575 pound-foot of torque, Chevrolet designed the Z11 as a racing vehicle for NASCAR and other competitions. It was primarily built out of aluminum to reduce its weight and, thus, increase its speed. It also doesn't have many typical interior features that the average driver demands, such as a radio and heater. Chevy only built 57 Impala Z11s. One of the two black versions of the vehicle was sold for $432,000 at a Mecum Auction in Kissimmee, Florida, in 2017.
The Chevy Impala Super Sport, released in 1961, was a mid-year upgrade option with power steering and power brakes, chassis reinforcements, and metallic brake linings. The SS 409 was the most popular of the models, featuring a 348 engine with a Carter carb, aluminum intake, and four-speed manual transmission. Chevrolet only sold 142 first-year SS models and discontinued the vehicle in 1969. Today, a good-condition 1961 Impala SS 409 is worth about $200,000.
Chevrolet produced a higher-performing SS in its final year of production in 1969. The 1969 Impala SS l72 was rated at 425 hp and featured 427 cubic-inch powerplants. Chevrolet made fewer than 2,500 units of the 1969 Impala SS, and fewer than 600 customers opted for the L72 engine, making the vehicle a valuable commodity today. In addition to its impressive engine performance, the vehicle featured a revamped grille with deep-mounted dual headlights and a unique body shape with its fenders obtruding around the wheel wells.
The 1958 Impala Rochester, which debuted the maligned X-frame Chevies with high-end sections as opposed to a traditional perimeter-style frame, is another relatively rare Impala. Featuring a W-Series V8 Turbo Thrust engine capable of producing 315 hp, the beautiful Fuelie convertible was sold for $484 when introduced. Today, it can fetch upward of $150,000 at auction.
The 1973 Impala ACRS is another limited edition vehicle, although not one that might command a high sale price at an auction, which is especially noteworthy because there is believed to be only one still in existence. Chevrolet made only about 1,000 units of the experimental vehicle, which was designed to test the effectiveness of General Motors' first airbag - the Air Cushion Restraint System (ACRS). However, most of them were used for crash testing purposes.
Someone tried to sell an Impala ARCS at a Bonhams auction in Greenwich, Connecticut, in 2009. Bonhams gave it a pre-auction price estimate between $70,000 and $90,000, which was more than 20 times its original sale price, but the vehicle didn't meet its reserve.
Chevrolet discontinued the Impala model in 2020.

New 2022 Chevy Camaro Rapid Blue Color to Debut at Daytona
Chevrolet just released an announcement stating it will pace all three NASCAR national touring series races this coming weekend. The NASCAR Daytona 500, Xfinity Series, and World Truck Series will be paced by a different model from the American marque: the Corvette, the Camaro, and the Silverado. What’s more, the trio will be powered by a distinct variant of Chevy’s beloved 6.2-liter small-block V8 engine with ties to Chevrolet Cup Series racing engines. Together, Chevrolet’s three pace cars will produce a cumulative 1,370 horsepower!
But we haven’t even touched upon the most exciting news yet: the Chevy Camaro will live to see another year and bring with it the Corvette-exclusive Rapid Blue paint color! The special Rapid Blue color will be featured on each vehicle, while making its official debut as an available option on the 2022 Camaro. All three pace cars will also have a racy red, white and blue theme that is inspired by the 2021 Daytona 500 logo. A tiled pattern using the Chevrolet bowtie, red accents, bold white lettering, and pace car lighting will complete the look for Chevy’s big spotlight this coming weekend.
Camaro fans who have been eyeing the stunning Rapid Blue color on the new mid-engine C8 Corvette will finally get to see how it looks on their own vehicle. As one of the most popular colors for the ‘Vette, it’s only proper that Chevy passed it down to the iconic sports car’s younger brother. The Camaro pace car set to lead the field to green will be an SS 1LE trim equipped with a plethora of track goodies to deliver high-performance thrills, including a Magnetic Ride Control suspension and 1.02 g of cornering ability. Under the hood sits the beloved 6.2-liter LT1 V8 engine that produces 455 horsepower and 455 pound-feet of torque. After all, you know what they say: “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”
“Coming off of a successful 2020 on track in all three NASCAR national series, our drivers and teams are fired up and looking to put Chevrolet back in Victory Lane, starting at Daytona,” said Tony Johnson, director of Chevrolet Car and Crossover Marketing.
Along with the 2022 Chevrolet Camaro, 2021 Corvette, and 2021 Silverado, Team Chevy will present a behind-the-scenes look at Daytona’s impressive history and the technology that is used in its current races. The broadcast is called “Live from Daytona” and will feature some really interesting content as well as showcase the striking GM Firebird I concept. The 20-minute talk show is a free online event at Chevrolet.com/myway that beings on Saturday, February 13 at 11:00 a.m. EST.
Schedule:
2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 RST: NASCAR Camping World Truck Series’ NextEra Energy 250 on Friday, February 12 at 7:30 p.m. ET
2022 Chevrolet Camaro SS 1LE: Xfinity Series’ Beef. It’s What’s For Dinner. 300 on Saturday, February 13 at 5:00 p.m. ET

7 Key Differences Between the 2020 Chevy Silverado 1500 and the 2500HD
Tumblr media
The 2020 Chevy Silverado has proved to be a popular rival for the Dodge Ram and Ford F-150. With a plethora of Silverado variations available, how do you pick the best one for you? To help you decide, we’ve compared the key differences between Chevy’s Silverado 1500 and the 2500HD models.
7 Key Differences Between the 2020 Chevy Silverado 1500 and 2500HD
1. Starting Price
The Silverado 1500 has a manufacturer suggested retail price of $28,300 while the 2500HD has an MSRP of $34,100. At almost $6,000 cheaper, the 1500 Silverado stands out as the best choice for budget-conscious shoppers.
2. Standard Engine
There are a lot of options available when it comes to choosing the engine for your perfect Chevy truck. As standard, the Silverado 1500 comes with a 4.3-liter V6, and the 2500HD features a 6.6-liter V8.
All Engine Options for the Chevy Silverado 1500
2.7-litre Turbo
3.0-litre Duramax Turbo I6
4.3L EcoTec3 V6 engine
5.3-litre EcoTec3 V8
5.3L EcoTec3 w/ DFM engine
6.2L EcoTec3 V8 engine
All Engine Options for the Chevy Silverado 2500HD
6.6L Duramax® turbo-diesel V8 engine
6.6L V8 Direct Injection w/ VVT
3. Horsepower
Both the 1500 and the 2500HD have powerful beasts below the hood as standard. The 4.3-liter V6 hiding inside the 1500 produces 285hp and the 2500HD’s 6.6-liter V8 puts out a whopping 401hp.
4. Torque
Power isn’t everything when it comes to choosing the best truck for your needs. How the power gets to the road is just as important, especially if you plan on towing heavy loads.
Chevy’s Silverado 1500 (with the standard engine), creates 305 lb-ft of torque while the 2500HD produces 50% more with 464 lb-ft. If you plan on pulling heavy loads, the 2500HD is a solid choice.
5. Length
What good is a truck like the Silverado if you can’t use it to get around the city as easily as the country? Thankfully, at 229.5 inches, the Silverado 1500 fits comfortably into parking spaces and garages. The 2500HD is slightly longer at 235.5 inches, so less confident drivers may benefit from the slightly smaller model.
The Silverado 2500HD comes with a longer wheelbase as well, clocking in at 141.6 inches compared to the 139.6 inches of the 1500. The longer wheelbase provides more stability while powering over rough terrain or carrying heavy loads.
6. Towing Capacity (Standard Engines)
With the standard engines fitted, both the Silverado 1500 and the 2500HD are capable of towing big loads. The 1500 can tow 7,900 lbs at full capacity but the 2500HD blows this out of the water. The 6.6-liter V8 allows the 2500HD to tow 17,370.
7. Cab and Bed Options
If you can’t customize a truck to fit your lifestyle, it’s probably time to look elsewhere. Thankfully, both Chevy Silverado models come with plenty of options for cab and bed variations.
Silverado 1500
Regular Cab (seats three) and Long Bed (98 inches)
Double Cab (seats six) and Standard Bed (79 inches)
Crew Cab (seats six) and Standard Bed (79 inches)
Crew Cab (seats six) and Short Bed (70 inches)
Silverado 2500HD
Regular Cab (seats three) and Long Bed (98 inches)
Double Cab (seats six) and Standard Bed (79 inches)
Crew Cab (seats six) and Standard Bed (79 inches)
Double Cab (seats six) and Long Bed (98 inches)
Crew Cab (seats six) and Long Bed (98 inches)
Whether it’s cruising through the city or roughing it on the land, Chevy has created a 2020 Silverado to suit your needs. Find out more at Ed Martin Chevy.

In Focus: EV Wars Update
Tumblr media
It's been a busy couple of weeks in the EV space. We've had delivery reports, delivery date announcements, official test drives, factories bought and sold, as well as manufacturing rights bought and sold.
In my piece on the Rivian IPO a few weeks ago, I spoke on the electric vehicle wars heating up, and over the past few weeks, the moves made by some major players have turned the heat up even more. Here is of some news that occurred over the past several days involving some of the major players in the EV wars.
Tumblr media
Tesla
Tesla ($TSLA) recently released its delivery numbers for Q3 2021. The company reported that it delivered 241,300 vehicles during the quarter, topping analyst estimates of 220,900. Deliveries in Q3 also topped Q2 2021 deliveries by 20%.
Tesla's Model 3 and Model Y accounted for close to 229,000 of the total deliveries for the quarter, and nearly 9,000 Model S and X vehicles were delivered during the quarter.
Tumblr media
Lucid
Last week a lucky few got the chance to visit the Lucid Group ($LCID) plant in Arizona for a tour and test drive of the Lucid Air Dream. From everything I've read, the car is spacious, and has a luxurious fit and finish to it. The Range edition of the car offers 520 miles of range, which is more than any Tesla, and the Performance edition of the Air comes with 1,111 horsepower.
Lucid expects deliveries to start in October, but if you haven't already reserved your Lucid Air Dream,  you'll have to wait a little longer. The Air Dream Edition has already sold out and Lucid has closed reservations.
Though I've talked about holding off on an investment in Lucid, what I've read about the car from people who have taken it for a test drive has made me rethink my original position. Specifically the part about the car's fit and finish. I've seen too many Tesla's with uneven spacing between the hood and fender, and a number of other build quality concerns. Elon's personality, and the cult that is Tesla owners has caused many people to overlook these issues, but for how long? If Lucid can keep its delivery date of October, I'll definitely have to revisit the stock.
Tumblr media
Rivian
It's been a busy few weeks for Rivian. In September the company started deliveries of its R1T pickup truck. A feat that has been severely down played, likely because the company isn't a public company yet. Rivian was able to beat Tesla, Lordstown Motors ($RIDE), Ford ($F), and GM ($GM) to market with a functional electrical pickup truck. It's a kick to the gut of Ford and GM, whose F150 and Chevy Silverado, respectively, are among those companies' best selling vehicles.
Rivian won't be private for long. The company has filed its paperwork to go public, and it released its S1 last week. The company's filing has everything I expected. Big losses, big spends, big cash reserves, and big plans. The company lost over $1 billion in 2020, spent $1 billion in research and development over the last two years, has over $3 billion in cash, and has plans to sell vehicles in the U.S. and Canada, and then expand to Western Europe and then Asia.
Tumblr media
Foxconn and Fisker and Lordstown Motors
Earlier in the year Fisker ($FSR) completed a manufacturing deal with iPhone manufacturer Foxconn (2354.TW). The deal would allow Foxconn to manufacture a car for Fisker. Last year, Foxconn stated it wanted to be the Android of electric vehicles by creating a platform to help automobile companies make electric vehicles.
For months, the question has been where will Foxconn manufacture Fisker's vehicle, and this week we got our answer. Lordstown, Ohio is where Foxconn will manufacture vehicles. Foxconn purchased the Lordstown Motors manufacturing facility for $230 million.
Does that mean Lordstown Motors is done? Not really. Foxconn, purchased the building, made an equity investment inLordstown Motors, and also secured the right to manufacture Lordstown's electric pickup truck, the Endurance.
As for Fisker, Project PEAR (Personal Electric Automotive Revolution) is expected to start production in 2023. Fisker's SUV, Ocean, will be manufactured in Europe by manufacturer Magna Steyr. The production of the Ocean is scheduled to begin in late 2022.
Tumblr media
Winners and Losers
In this update of the EV wars, I would call Tesla, Lucid, Rivian, and Lordstown winners and Foxconn the big winner.
Tesla's deliveries in Q3 show that people are still all in on the Tesla brand. Tesla continues to lead the EV charge and build upon its lead in the EV space.
The Lucid test-drive reviews have been good so far, a spacious car with a luxury fit and finish. I keep harping on the fit and finish, and it's because I've seen enough Teslas with a terrible fit and finish.  Lucid could be the competitor to Tesla That the markets have been waiting/hoping for.
Rivian, they did it, they produced and delivered an electric pickup truck before Tesla, Lordstown Motors, Nikola ($NKLA) (who scraped their pickup truck plans), GM, and Ford. As I alluded to earlier, the Ford F150 is the top selling vehicle in the U.S. followed by the Chevy Silverado, why Ford and GM didn't make producing an electric version of these trucks a priority will always confuse me. Rivian has set itself up nicely to take some of Ford and Chevy's share of the pickup truck market.
Lordstown is another company that won this week. Since May of this year the company has been open about its cash problems and delays, especially after word got out that it wasn't close to producing the truck it promised, and it appears the expected delivery date for the Endurance is being pushed back again. In August the company's plans were to start production of the Endurance in September of this year and begin deliveries in Q1 2022, now it appears deliveries won't take place until mid to late 2022. The $230 million received for the plant and the $50 million equity investment from Foxconn should go a long way in helping to stabilize Lordstown. The company has had a tough go of it alone, this partnership with Foxconn could be what the company needs to get it back on track.
Foxconn is the big winner in this round of EV news and updates. Securing the rights to manufacture vehicles for Fisker and Lordstown, while also picking up a factory that Lordstown has already spent big money outfitting to produce electric vehicles is a very nice win. Foxconn also has a deal in place with Chinese automaker Geely to manufacture its vehicles. The company's plan of becoming the Android of electric vehicles is starting to take shape.
In this round Fisker wasn't a winner, but I wouldn't call it a loser either. The production date for the Ocean is just too far out to put it in the mix.
The losers in this round are Ford and GM for the reasons I've stated above. Ford's electric F150 is expected in spring 2022, but I have very little faith in that delivery date. The electric Chevy Silverado isn't expected until 2023.
The EV wars are heating up and getting more exciting by the week.

2021 Ford F-150 vs. Chevy Silverado 1500, Ram 1500: How the Big Three Compare
Every new truck debut ignites a war of numbers, with fans feverishly comparing horsepower, torque, hauling capability, and—who knows?—maybe cupholder counts. Ford introduced the new 2021 F-150 this week, and even though it hasn’t released full specs for the truck, it promises to blow competitors out of the water when it comes to trucky metrics such as towing, horsepower, and more. That’s an ambitious claim, considering that since the last F-150 first went on sale, rivals haven’t been sitting still, instead pushing their trucks’ envelopes further and setting a high bar.
So, how will the 2021 Ford F-150 stack up against the Ram 1500 and Chevrolet Silverado? We’ve crunched the numbers so that you can gear up for truck debate class:
F-150 vs. Silverado vs. Ram 1500: Engines
Ford is already beating Ram and Chevrolet when it comes to maximum horsepower and torque figures (with the 450-hp F-150 Raptor). The Blue Oval hasn’t announced figures for the new F-150, but it is making big claims. A new hybrid variant, which combines a V-6 engine with a 47-hp electric motor, aims to deliver the most horsepower and torque of any light-duty, full-size pickup on the market—at least until Ram’s supercharged, 700-hp-plus TRX, its Raptor competitor, lands later this year.
Compared to Ram and Chevy, the 2021 Ford F-150 has the most diverse engine lineup. Besides the hybrid, other powertrains include three regular gasoline-fed V-6s, including a base naturally aspirated 3.3-liter V-6, a 2.7-liter twin-turbo EcoBoost, and a 3.5-liter twin-turbo EcoBoost. Output for these engines has not yet been announced, but we can look at the 2020 F-150 for guidance. On the outgoing model, the entry-level 3.3-liter made 290 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque, and the 2.7-liter produced 325 ponies and 400 lb-ft of torque. The 3.5-liter was available in two versions, one making 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque and the other one delivering 450 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque.
Like its predecessor, the 2021 Ford F-150 will also offer a 3.0-liter turbodiesel V-6. In the old model, the diesel made 250 horsepower and a whopping 440 lb-ft of torque. A 5.0-liter gas-fed V-8 will be available once again; the old version pumped out 395 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque. All new F-150s will pair with a 10-speed automatic transmission; gone is every vestige of the old truck’s six-speed automatic.
So, how does Ram compete? Instead of a full-blown hybrid, Ram offers 48-volt mild hybrid eTorque technology in its lineup. The 3.5-liter V-6 with eTorque delivers 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft. A 3.0-liter diesel V-6 puts out 260 hp and an impressive 480 lb-ft of torque. A 5.7-liter V-8, also available with efficiency-boosting eTorque tech, makes 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque. All of these Ram engines pair with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Chevrolet doesn’t have hybrid technology on the Silverado 1500, period. It does offer a relatively efficient and very smooth diesel 3.0-liter inline-six, which putters out 277 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque, and it is unique in offering a four-cylinder engine. Yes, you read that right—the Silverado 1500 is available with a turbocharged four-cylinder engine, which makes a stout 310 horsepower and 348 lb-ft of torque. Chevy also sells a 4.3-liter V-6 (285 horsepower and 305 lb-ft), a 5.3-liter V-8 (355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft), and a 6.2-liter V-8 (420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft).  Depending on the model, the Silverado comes with a six-speed, eight-speed, or 10-speed automatic transmission, and the V-8s offer a clever new cylinder deactivation protocol to save some extra fuel with no impact on smoothness.
2021 Ford F-150
3.3-liter V-6: TBD hp, TBD lb-ft
2.7-liter V-6: TBD, TBD
5.0-liter V-8: TBD, TBD
3.5-liter V-6: TBD, TBD

2020 Ram 1500
3.6-liter V-6 with eTorque: 305 hp, 269 lb-ft
3.0-liter V-6 diesel: 260 hp, 480 lb-ft
5.7-liter V-8 w/ or w/o eTorque: 395 hp, 410 lb-ft
2020 Chevrolet Silverado
4.3-liter V-6: 285 hp, 305 lb-ft
5.3-liter V-8: 355 hp, 383 lb-ft
2.7-liter I-4: 310 hp, 348 lb-ft
6.2-liter V-8: 420 hp, 460 lb-ft
3.0-liter diesel I-6: 277 hp, 460 lb-ft
F-150 vs. Silverado vs. Ram 1500: Towing
Ford says it’s on target to deliver the highest maximum towing capacity of any full-size light-duty pickup. Currently, Chevrolet is leading Ford and Ram with a max towing capacity of 13,400 pounds. The Silverado 1500 achieves this rating when paired with the 6.2-liter V-8.
The outgoing 2020 F-150 could tow as much as 13,200 pounds with the 3.5-liter V-6. Meanwhile, Ram tops out at 12,750 pounds when paired with the 5.7-liter V-8. In case you’re missing the big picture here, modern light-duty full-size pickups can haul an awful lot of weight—so much so that the mere hundreds of pounds separating the capacities of the Big Three’s rigs is almost negligible.
Okay, we get it, no advantage is “negligible” in the truck wars. So, while Ford hasn’t released towing specs for most models in the 2021 F-150 lineup beyond its vague claim to ultimate towing supremacy, we do know that even the new hybrid will be able to tow at least 12,000 pounds. Buckle in for the final tally for the non-hybrid F-150.
F-150 vs. Silverado vs. Ram 1500: Payload
Just like Ford is planning to cream its rivals with towing, it also aims to achieve better payload ratings than any other full-size, light-duty truck. (Sensing a theme in Ford’s braggadocio?) Ford is already doing well with payload, with a max capacity of 3,270 pounds on the outgoing 2020 F-150. That’s significantly better than the Ram 1500’s max payload rating of 2,300 pounds, achieved when paired with the 3.6-liter V-6. Chevrolet isn’t far behind Ram at 2,250 pounds with the 4.3-liter V-6.
F-150 vs. Silverado vs. Ram 1500: Pickup Bed
Point, Chevrolet. The Silverado 1500 offers more pickup-bed space than the new Ford and the Ram, no matter whether you pick the short, standard, or long box.
The 2021 Ford F-150 trails competitors with 53 cubic feet available in its short 5.5-foot bed. Compare that to Ram’s 54 cubic feet and Chevy’s 63. With the 6.5-foot bed, the Ford offers 62 cubic feet of space, on par with the Ram’s standard bed, but falling behind Chevy’s 72 cubic feet. With the 8.0-foot bed, the F-150 offers 77 cubic feet of space, well behind Chevy’s 89 cubic feet. The new Ram doesn’t offer a long box.
So, who is the winner? It almost doesn’t matter, both because we’ve yet to evaluate how the 2021 Ford F-150’s specs translate to real-world truck macho and we know that fans of Ford, GM, and Ram will cherry-pick whichever data points help them smack down their friends who drive competitive trucks. Oh, and stay tuned as Ford releases more details on the 2021 F-150—these specifications are only the beginning.

Buying a Used Truck? These 5 Rule the Worksite
Tumblr media
The best used trucks have come a long way from the days of basic bench seats and vinyl upholstery. Modern trucks are more powerful and more capable than ever, but they are also more comfortable, as automakers have responded to the changing demands of truck owners.
In this guide, we’ve highlighted five rugged trucks that are ideally suited for the worksite. If you don’t find the perfect work truck here, check out listings on CarGurus, where you can narrow down your search based on bed-size, cab-size, trim, engine, options, and more.
Tumblr media
1. Ford F-150
Years: 2017-2019 Trim: XLT SuperCab 8’ Bed 4×4 Approx price: $17,000 — $30,000
The Ford F-150 SuperCab has a clamshell door design, which means you have to open the large front door to open the smaller rear half-door. If you plan on mostly using the front seats, this is fine, but if you plan on hauling the kids around a lot, you’d do well to step up to the SuperCrew version of the F-150 with its full four-door setup.
If you want the convenience of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto look for a model from 2017 onwards with Ford’s SYNC 3 touchscreen infotainment system.
The 2017 F-150 comes standard with a 282-horsepower 3.5-liter V6, and many XLT trims are available with one of the more powerful EcoBoost V6 engines. For 2018, there was a shakeup in the powertrain offerings, including a more powerful base V6, now making 290 horsepower.

Tumblr media
2. Chevrolet Silverado 1500
Years: 2017-2018 Trim: LT Double Cab 4×4 Approx price: $23,000 — $30,000
The previous generation of Silverado was coming to an end in 2018, which means Chevrolet added extra equipment to entice buyers who might otherwise have waited for the new model.
Step inside and not much has changed from this older truck to the latest version. The control layout is nearly identical, and the latter years of the LT trim come with the MyLink infotainment system that provides a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Unlike the F-150, which has clamshell doors on its extended cab truck, the extended cab version of the Silverado utilizes conventional second row doors. Many models also feature a front bench with a middle seat that folds into a center console.
While the standard engine is a 4.3-liter V6, those wanting more power should keep an eye out for a model with the 5.3-liter V8, which puts out a stout 355 horsepower. All versions of the Silverado come with the helpful bed corner steps.

3. Ram 1500
Years: 2016-2018 Trim: SLT Quad Cab 4×4 Approx price: $17,000 – $27,000
Ram does things a bit differently from Ford and Chevy. The truck-maker acknowledged and responded to the idea that its pickups were being used for a lot of things other than worksite duties, such as commutes and road trips. As a result, the Ram 1500 does away with traditional leaf spring suspension, and instead features a multi-link setup at the rear to give it a more comfortable ride. But that doesn’t mean the Ram 1500 can’t handle a bit of work.
The Ram 1500 comes standard with a 3.6-liter V6 making 305 horsepower, but many vehicles from these years can be found with the 395-horsepower 5.7-liter V8. Some are even available with the EcoDiesel V6, which offers V8-levels of torque with improved efficiency.
Like the Silverado’s Double Cab, the Ram 1500’s Quad Cab uses conventionally opening second-row doors. Inside, the Ram 1500 uses high-quality cabin materials, and has easy-to-use controls. The SLT comes with power windows and locks, as well as Bluetooth and USB connectivity. Higher trims come with a larger touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto (starting in 2018), and the RamBox cargo system. There’s no doubt that, for the money, the Ram 1500 offers a comfortable ride, a strong base V6, and a spacious interior.

2016 GMC Sierra All Terrain SLT
4. GMC Sierra 1500
Years: 2015-2016 Trim: SLT Double Cab 4×4 Approx price: $19,000 – $30,000
The previous generation of both GM trucks (Silverado and Sierra) have more conventional styling than their current counterparts.
The Sierra SLE is very similar to the Silverado LT, in that it is slightly elevated from the base truck and provides some welcome creature comforts. The SLE can be had with many different options; while most will come with the basic 6-speaker stereo and USB port, others may be found with the optional GMC IntelliLink infotainment system. This is similar to Chevy MyLink and comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The SLE trim comes standard with the 4.3-liter V8 engine, but many can be found with the 355-horsepower 5.3-liter V8 engine. If you don’t need four-wheel drive, you can save a few dollars by choosing a rear-wheel-drive model.

Tumblr media
5. Toyota Tundra
Years: 2012-2016 Trim: SR5 Double Cab Approx price: $20,000 – $30,000
If you’re looking for something a bit different from the Big Three, the Toyota Tundra is big, spacious, and comes with standard V8 power for all the years we are recommending here. Despite being a bit long-in-the-tooth, Tundras hold their value well, with prices for the SR5 being close to that of Big Three trucks with similar bed/cab/powertrain configurations.
The standard engine in the Tundra is a 4.6-liter V8 making 310 horsepower, though many SR5s can be found with the optional 381-horsepower 5.7-liter V8. While it may seem advantageous to go for the less powerful V8 to save a few dollars, it is actually less efficient than the larger V8.
The Tundra has a very spacious cabin. All trims, including the base SR come equipped with the Entune infotainment system, which was updated for 2016. It features a 6.1-inch touchscreen, but while it is very easy to use, it does lack Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

2021 Chevy Silverado Realtree Edition Brings Back Camouflage Factory
Tumblr media
2021 Chevy Silverado Realtree -gNewscar.com- After about five years of absence, Chevy returns with another Realtree-themed pickup truck. 2021 Chevy Silverado Realtree Edition will once again be a limited production pickup for outdoor devices. And this time, this is coupled with the extra off-road ability of the Boss Trail trim.
Tumblr media
Features that distinguish this as a fully cosmetic Realtree edition. The most prominent pattern is a camouflage-pattern "Wood " special-on the side of the bed and on the hood. The bed itself gets a liner that also features the Realtree logo. Other exterior bits include black badging, black exhaust ends and side steps. Inside, more camouflage patterns are displayed on the door panel. Included in the larger Realtree Edition
Tumblr media
Mechanically, the Realtree edition is just a custom trail boss. It comes with both a 5.3 litre V5 355 horsepower and an automatic six-speed or optional 420-horsepower V8 6.2 liter V8 and 10-speed transmission. It has a two-inch suspension lift plus a shock packet off-road shock Z71 package, skid plate, downhill control and automatic locking back differential. As part of the Realtree Edition, it also comes standard with a 20 inch wheel wrapped in muddy tires.
Tumblr media
The Realtree edition was on sale this summer. The price has not been announced, but should be disclosed close to the sales date. A same-equipped 2020 Silverado Trail Boss 1500 with a short four-door "Double Cab " Bodystyle comes in at around $40,000, so we'll expect Realtree Edition to be a little more than that. 2020 Corvette Price, Spec Impressive Power and Acceleration Read the full article

Chevrolet Silverado 1500: Which do you have to Buy, 2019 or 2020

With all the new tech and more powertrain options from top to bottom, a 2020 should be the straightforward choice unless you’re trying to find an absolutely bare-bones work truck.
Tumblr media
Chevrolet’s Silverado lineup may have slipped to 3rd place in pickup sales for the 2019 civil year , but the updates offered for the 2020 1500 model could also be enough to assist the Bow-Tie brand reclaim its usual second-place spot within the truck sales hierarchy. Related: 2020 pickup of the Year Nominees The most significant powertrain update is that the all-new turbo-diesel 3.0-liter baby Duramax as an option for LT, RST, LTZ and High Country trims. We’ve driven the new diesel and love it , albeit it's going to not always be ready to meet its EPA estimated fuel economy rating of 23/33/27 mpg city/highway/combined (in 4×2 configuration). We liked it such a lot , in fact, that the diesel-powered 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 diesel is one among our 2020 pickup of the Year nominees. Significant changes have also been made in powertrain availability. Chevy is expanding the amount of choices for shoppers who might want more power for his or her pickup without the more luxurious interiors of the LTZ or High Country trims or their higher prices  by chevy dealership gastonia nc making the 6.2-liter V-8 and 10-speed available within the lower supervisor and RST trims. Also available for the 6.2-liter may be a Performance Upgrade Package ($1,875) that adds a higher-flow air intake and cat-back exhaust and increases horsepower from 420 to 435 and torque from 460 pounds-feet to 469.
The 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine also will be available on the Custom trim level (it’s standard within the RST and LT). The 5.3-liter V-8 is now paired with the 10-speed automatic as standard equipment on the LT supervisor and available as an option on the four-wheel-drive High Country; the 5.3-liter V-8 with an eight-speed is standard on the LTZ and High Country and available on the LT and RST. chevrolet charlotte nc advanced trailering technology — one among the explanations the 2020 Silverado 2500/3500 is one among our pickup of the Year nominees for 2020 is now available for the smaller Silverado 1500, including the “transparent trailer” feature that uses cameras to supply a rear view when trailering as if the trailer weren’t there.
Tumblr media
Trailering side mirrors, a lower-tech thanks to make trailering safer and easier, also are available. The last camera trick Chevy has up its sleeve is that the availability of an adaptive control system that uses a camera mounted behind the car mirror to stay the truck at a secure following distance. This feature are going to be available on LT, LTZ and High Country models chevrolet dealership charlotte. As for pricing, the bottom 2020 WT trim level starts at $29,895 (all prices include destination) — $100 quite the 2019’s $29,795. But as shoppers go up the trim levels and standard powertrains change (and choices are added), prices between model years could change significantly. With all the new technology and increased choice for consumers, the 2020 Silverado 1500 is a simple choice over the 2019 — counting on the budget
