4-8-23: ParaNorman (2012) hit me harder than I was expecting, really subverts your expectations. AMAZING. MUST WATCH.

4-28-23: The Super Mario Bros. Movie (2023) I watched this on my birthday :) It made the child in me so happy

5-8-23: Tinker Bell (2008) (old rewatch) Pixie hollow is a legitimately communist society. Fun to revisit !!

6-18-23: The Little Mermaid (2023) ew live action remake lol. But it’s one of the better ones. ok honestly i'm mad that i sorta liked it upon initial viewing. maybe its just cuz i havent seen the original (WHAT ARE YOU DOING!????? oh mygod please watch the original one OK FINE I WILL........)

7-17-23: The Last Unicorn (1982) really a product of its time. So beautiful and unique in its own way. Must watch

7-28-23 Run Lola Run (1998) Indie german crime/thriller film that was fun and experimental, I loved the late 90s trance soundtrack and had a good time, it went by quick!

8-19-23 (Most of) Aladdin (1992) (old rewatch) gGenie………. The animation is GODLY. the early CG is a bit rough but hey it was 1992

9-15-23 The Road to El Dorado (2000) White savior movie but otherwise fun characters. Tulio and Miguel are the gayest straight guys I’ve ever seen

9-15-23 The Emperor’s New Groove (2000) GENUINELY HILARIOUS AND SO GOOFY. It was fun seeing this right after el dorado.

9-21-23 Wreck-it Ralph (2012) (old rewatch) brooooo this moviie sucs I hate it so much i. please watch

9-22-23 How to Train Your Dragon (2010) very powerful music and showcases a very touching relationship between humans and nature/the unknown, must see !!!!!

10-1-23 Elemental (2023) REALLY didn’t deserve the hate, it’s a sweet romance/immigration story. A little cheesy but it’s charming. The visuals are a feat to behold

10-5-23 Marcel The Shell (2021) unexpectedly touching and unique movie presentation style - I may have cried

10-21-23 Coraline (2009) (rewatch) this movie has such a distinct, creepy identity and it’s enthralling each time. MUST WATCH

10-27-23 Hunchback of Notre Dame (1996) has tonal problems and it wasn’t confident enough to go all out all the way through, which is so unfortunate… But AMAZING otherwise. The architecture ??! And Frollo. Evil priest characters you are so cool

10-27-23 Kung-Fu Panda (2008) (old rewatch) Legitimately amazing animated martial arts movie and embraces self love. we all know this. It’s even better on rewatch. MUST WATCH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

10-27-23 Kung Fu Panda 2 (2011) (old rewatch) SURPRISINGLY POWERFUL AND A REALLY GOOD SEQUEL. Hi shen blushes

11-4-23 The Book of Life (2014) this film is such an UNDERRATED TREAT. Absolutely gorgeous celebration of Mexican culture. Incredible world and characters and the style is so distinct. Must WATCH !!!???

11-5-23 Five Nights At Freddy’s (2023) :) I’ve been waiting for this ever since I was 13 and I had so much fun watching it. This was a highlight of my year!

11-12-23 Corpse Bride (2005) Really really good Tim Burton Halloween movie with so much stylization. So much fun to watch!!!! And so ethereal at times. MUST WATCH

11-12-23 Frankenweenie (2012) Very cute but disappointing ending, too safe. It could have been more impactful if they pushed it further. Watched this after corpse bride and the parallels were FUNNY.

11-18-23 The Wizard Of Oz (1939) (old rewatch). The real life abusive filming process makes this movie Hard to Enjoy with peace of mind- but the finished product is truly groundbreaking and whimsical

12-1-23 Fantastic Mr. Fox (2009) another silly goofy little dysfunctional family unit, a bit yikes at some parts but overall pretty lighthearted. It was cool seeing this immediately after isle of dogs cuz you could see the inspiration in the visuals between the two

12-8-23 The Mitchell’s vs. The Machines (2021) silly robot apocalypse family road trip movie with AMAZING visuals (everyone in the family is autistic)

12-17-23 Prancer (1989) Unexpectedly heartwarming movie about a little girl helping an injured reindeer. VERY SWEET and great message about the impact of kindness and the wonders of being a child. MADE ME CRY.

12-19-23 The Muppet Christmas Carol (1992) (rewatch) classic muppet Christmas movie :)

12-22-23 The Muppets (2011) (old rewatch) SURPRISINGLY CATCHY SONGS and a silly muppet movie. Fun to revisit. Tex Richman my beloved

12-23-23 Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer (1964) Mediocre writing and mean spirited at times <3 BUT ITS A CLASSIC. so ofc i liked it

12-24-23 Tangled (2010) (old rewatch) I forgot how good this movie was. ACTUALLY PEAK and so fun to revisit. Such a fresh take on a fairytale story, great songs, amazing romance, and also empowering about overcoming an abusive parent … MUST WATCH!!!

12-26-23 Klaus (2019) (rewatch) it’s so great to see a new 2D animated movie come out, and such a great story too. Cute origin story of Christmas and POSTAL WORKER APPRECIATION!!!!!

12-31-23 Puss in Boots: The Last Wish (2022) (rewatch) started off the year with this movie and then ended with it! What a treat!! I even wrote a short essay about it 1 semester ago :)

In conclusion, I love movies !!! But my favorite movies are those that are confident in their identities and don’t hold back. Like share your message to the fullest !!!!

I watched a lot of stop-motion movies this year. I wanna watch more studio ghibli movies next year

And maybe I should purposefully try watching bad movies… it might make me appreciate good ones more and easier see what they do right. But also. I really dont wanna watch ralph breaks the internet.

Life just seems exceptionally mad all the time, like one of those old mining carts hurtling toward the centre of the earth.

I’m going to admit something...I’ve only seen the full II show recording once. The stage shows just aren’t my thing as much.

This was posted between the European and North American legs of the tour when they had a few days break from performing. That included shows in Poland on Dan’s birthday, when Phil shared some excellent photos. Also he wore a hat for a bit that said “birthday bitch.”

So today on the MSR (Midnight Star Review), I will be talking about the latest Country Music Special titled "CMA Best of fest". alright so i originally just casually listened to exo from wolf era up till 2017 when the kokobop teasers came out. they looked really pretty and so i watched them up till kkb was released. it’s what baekhyun’s voice in the forever teaser that captured me into stanning them. everything about the exo’s attracted me, their vocals, their dancing and ofc their visuals. bonus: their time on the ‘360 show(??)’! im not sure of the actual name for the programme but it was where yixing kept pronouncing jurassic park wrong pls that was so cute and funny how could you NOT stan them!

it would probably be fever by ateez! this is because it gives off freedom vibes and i’ve been stressed lately so the song is a little oasis for me

i would choose to see into the future so that i could change what i do now, whether its related to me being lazy or me being selfish,, i would like to keep the past the way it is even if i had some scarring moments. it’s nice to look back on those and see how far you’ve come as a person.

my favorite movie would either be spirited away or paper towns,, i actually don’t have a favorite movie because all of them have affected my life in different ways so yea :D

what did miss rona ruin for you this 2020?

probably the food fair this year,, my group of best friends were supposed to go there to celebrate jane and another friend’s birthday. the food fair happens yearly so it wasn’t anything big to anyone else, but to us it was something special. there are a lot more things but this was one of the major things she ruined :/

MLB Dupain-Cheng Wedding and Marinette’s Birthday theory!!

An updated version of this theory can be found here. Some new info was revealed and I decided to talk about it.

Here I have developed two theories; when Sabine and Tom got married and Marinette’s Birthday. I have finalised two dates as to when they got married and when Marinette was born. This is pure speculation by the way, so take what I say with a grain of salt!!!

The Dupain-Chengs Wedding Date THEORY:

To figure out when they were married I gathered clues from all available episodes.

Lets start with “Timebreaker”! In this episode Sabine says they are celebrating their 20th wedding anniversary with a special dinner. And since “Timebreaker” was in season 1, this episode is speculated to have occurred sometime sometime in February-April.

I have theorised that “Backwarder” is set in either April of 2011 or May of 2018 This is because Adrien, Gabriel, Kagami and her mother are going to attend a Royal Wedding in England. And Thomas Astruc must have been inspired by a royal wedding and since this episode aired in 2016, Astruc would not have known about Harry and Meghan meaning that Kate and William was probably his source of inspiration.

So if Tom and Sabine are celebrating their twentieth wedding anniversary in February-April 2011 or 2018, that means they were married in 1991 or 1998.

However in consideration to the style of Sabine’s dress, it is more likely to be in 1998. 1991 Wedding dresses were extremely puffy, most likely due to the after effects of the 80s fashion. Sabine’s wedding dress actually closely resembles the wedding dresses of the 2000s. Meaning that it is highly likely the wedding happened in 1998, here’s a photo comparison.

Basically since Sabine doesn’t look like any of the snow beast brides of 1991 and closer to 1998 wedding dresses, I think it’s a safe bet that it was set in 1998. FYI: I did loads of wedding dress research and her dress is closest to the 2002 bridal styles, especially with the BOHO-chic fashion trend.

Now fun fact, this means we actually know when the exact date they were married because of Marinette’s calendar (which is basically Adrien’s Schedule) back in “Timebreaker”. The episode as we know starts off with Sabine talking about their 20th wedding anniversary. However in this episode, Alix and Kim have their rollerblade race, This is the only episode we know of to have rollerskating in it, and in Marinette’s calendar April 6th is marked as “Roller Time”.

This means that April 6th is the day that Tom and Sabine were married!! (And Alix’s birthday lol)

So this concludes that…

Tom and Sabine were married on April 6th of 1998.

Also this means that Tom married Sabine when he was twenty!!! Because he turned 40 in Bakerix which is set in 2018, we knows this because the events in “Bakerix” happen before "Backwarder", as the inauguration of Startrain is shown. And we know “Backwarder” is set in May of 2018, meaniNG BAKERIX IS HAPPENING IN EARLY 2018!!!!

Our bakery boi snatched his wife with that broom-stache at 20 holy moly. I wondered how old Sabine was, I think she might have been 19, making her 39 in “Bakerix”. Love to hear anyone’s theory on Sabine’s age.

This means that Tom and Sabine totally dated in high school. oMG SO CUTE!! Can’t wait to draw the art for that one!

The Date of Marinette’s birthday THEORY:

This theory isn’t as concrete as the previous but I had to do some hard core predications and assumptions!! So don’t take my word for it!

It took Tom and Sabine a couple of years before they had Marinette. Because we know she is 14 in “Befana”, that means she was born in 2003 or 2004 if this episode took place in 2017 or 2018. And according to the MLB wiki timeline, Befana takes place in July, meaning Marinette is born in July. No joke the wiki has a timeline.

If we look at her personality we can actually determine what part of July her birthday is on with zodiac signs!! July 1st to July 22nd are members of the Cancer zodiac sign, and July 22nd to July 31st, are a part of the Leo zodiac sign.

I did a little research for Cancer because as a Leo myself, I know that sign pretty well. And guys, “Cancers are born people-pleasers and emotional caretakers.” and not just that but “You’ll often see Cancer women busting their butts behind the scenes building props on theatre or movie sets, or as head chefs making magic in the kitchens of busy restaurants. MARINETTE IS A MEMBER OF THE CANCER ZODIAC SIGN CONFIRMED SHE IS A CRAB!!!!! CAN YOU IMAGINE HER LIKE THAT I CAN

So we can confidently say her birthday is between July 1st and 22nd, we just gotta find the specific date!! Here’s another clue I found thanks to another birthday theory on Amino; In the Webisode "My Birthday Party", Marinette's voice over says "It's my birthday on Saturday". (In the English Dub)

Now the webisode was released in 2016, while “Befana” was released in 2017. In 2016 would have been 12 if Marinette was born in 2004, which is inaccurate as she was 13 when she received the miraculous. Meaning she is born in 2003 making her thirteen in 2016 the year of the webisode aired!!

Now if her birthday in that webisode was set in 2016, the Saturday’s between between July 1st and 22nd land on three dates. The 2nd, 9th and the 16th of July.

How do we narrow the three dates down to one I hear you ask? Well Kung Food is set sometime after July 14th according to this tumblr user, meaning we can eliminate the 16th because her Great Uncle would have mentioned her birthday but he didn’t.

Now that means it’s either the 2nd or the 9th. I think if we look at the school dates when the year “Befana” takes place we may determine her birthday.

So if Marinette is turning 14 in “Befana” and if she is born in 2003, that means “Befana” occurs in 2017. In the episode she talked about being at school that week, and “yesterday” she caught Nino listening to her fav song at school , however she did not mention being at school on her actual birthday. Which in 2017, Mari’s birthday is on a Sunday and I had to check but France does have Middle and High schools that choose to have courses on Saturdays. So we are deficiently in the right timeframe!

It occurred to me that July is when Summer Holidays begin for France. And according to this website, France’s summer holidays begun on July 8th in 2017.

Now if we rewatch “Befana”, we can see that the classroom is bare of any school work or posters. Now everyone who has been to middle or high school knows there are big clean ups that happen the day Summer Holidays begin. And that’s what I think we are seeing here. A completely clean classroom ready for a new year.

I can conclude then that Marinette’s Birthday is on the 9th of July, and she was born in 2003!! THE PROOF IS IN DA PUDDIN THAT IS ADRIEN LOL!

So to quickly resummarise this double theory of mine:

Tom and Sabine were married on April 6th of 1998.

and

Marinette’s Birthday is on the 9th of July, and she was born in 2003.

Wow I spent six hours researching all this and now I’m super tired, I’m posting these theories because I will be MIA during May and possibly June because of Exams and Assignments for Uni. Enjoy reading this and I hope to hear your opinions and thoughts!!

January in Review // I Cried, Laughed, Ate Pasta, Celebrated My Birthday & Completed TWO Read-A-Thons/Challenges

January was…A lot.

This past month has been crazy, to say the least. A lot of highs and a lot of lows but I’m getting through it so that’s something!

January contained so much in such a short time that I still can’t believe it’s over!

I binged watched it in just three days which is huge for me because I haven’t been able to binge watch anything that isn’t just short 20 minute episodes in short season in months.

A Month of Mayhem

I spent my birthday out!!! My mum took me to get my hair cut, we did some shopping, she gave me a massage and some Reiki which I needed!!! And then we went to Fasta Pasta for dinner and it was delicious!!! Oh and I even took photos with mum and didn’t feel gross and have a new selfie I took with snapchat with the fox filter and I think it’s v cute!!!

The last few years I’ve always gotten books as presents for my birthday but mum told me I had too many unread books so I had to choose something else…So I chose things for my reading! Because of course.

I got a pair of noise-cancelling headphones so that I can continue to read or blog or write uninterrupted instead of getting distracted every time mum’s massage clients come and go. Except mum keeps forgetting to check if I have them on before she goes to have a full conversation with me. So when I realise she’s doing it I just turn and look at her and she notices the headphones. I’ve taken to moving one of the earphones off my ear when I notice she’s in the living room but I don’t always notice.

My mum also got me my first book sleeve from Etsy! I spent hours finding one I wanted that wasn’t super expensive but good quality! It’s spacey and I love it. It’s great timing since I’m going to be reading more of my owned physical books this year and I don’t want them to get damaged by the three drink bottles in my bag for work YES THREE!!! and two are 1-litre ones and my bag is heavy. I HAVE MY REASONS!!!

I also bought myself far too many animated movies, some books, a curler, some hair products so I can use the curler I have still not used any of it yet shhhh, and a fitbit!!!!

I mean the fitbit was definitely the most needed one for sure because now I can actually track how many steps I’m doing a day and I’ve been doing pretty good! I’m hitting 8000 steps most days and even hit my first 10000 steps on the 16th which was exciting!

I went and did my tax finally and now my tax debt thanks work for not taking the correct amount of tax out for several years! is down to a very manageable amount! So that’s a relief!

My sister brought my nephews around for a visit and nephew 3 nearly got bit by a spider but nephew 2 saved the day! Other than that the visit was good! I love them so much and Nephew 3 is starting to walk!!!

My mum treated me to get my nails done professionally for the first time ever and I love them. My nails look like bullets.

I discovered where I could buy cheap hazelnut syrup for my coffee and then when I went to buy it saw they also have dark chocolate syrup as well so basically I’m just drinking liquid Nutella.

And I have officially been on this blog for a year!!! I’m so thankful for this community and even just this blog being a lifeline and a thing to focus my attention on when things have been shit in my personal life. I’m so glad I can call myself a part of this community and I look forward to many more years being a part of it!

I lost my bank card while doing my food shopping which was not great and very inconvenient since a lot of the parking I pay for work is cheaper booking online! But whatever.

I had a few emotional moments throughout the month but it was mostly just me having a little cry and then moving on.

I visited my other sister which kind of didn’t go great, to begin with. There was a whole thing, I had an anxiety attack and suffered a bout of paranoia and cried a lot but it all worked out in the end.

Once I calmed down we went to get my phone upgraded (this was already the plan) because I am anxious, my mum is busy, and my sister knows a guy that works there so I got well looked after! But then I had to go back another day because they didn’t have the phone that I wanted in stock.

We came back to her house and played Overcooked on the PlayStation which is always fun for us and I was in much better spirits when I left!

Until the next day when I was a mess again.

Look, I’m really great at handling big life-changing things as they’re happening. It’s a trait I inherited from my mum. The whole world as we know it could end and it wouldn’t look like I even knew something had changed.

It’s like my brain will just put the BIG THING in a box and shove it under a few things until I’ve gotten through it and then it’ll bring it out and say “Remember this BIG THING??? Yeah, now you gotta process it. Have fun.” Which is great until there are several BIG THINGS waiting to be processed and then I get hit with them all at once, which happens most of the time.

So then I break down over seemingly small shit. Its very clearly SO MUCH FUN!!!

So basically I spent that whole day crying and anxious and paranoid and had to call my mum to help calm me down and then my new phone was ready to be picked up and I didn’t want to bother my sister to go with me and I knew I needed to do something on my own to prove to myself I’m not totally useless so I went and picked up my phone by myself! Thankfully the hard part was over I am an absolute pushover and will be talked into buying anything even if I don’t want it so I just had to go in, they transferred my stuff over to the new phone and I was done!

It went well, despite the fact that the guy was having difficulty transferring my stuff over but I think he was a little unnerved by how quiet I am in person and especially with people I don’t really know, and I hate being THAT customer so I tend to just sit patiently and try and get my brain to shut up.

He kept commenting on how quiet and patient I was and trying to get me to talk but I hate small talk because I never know what to say. When we were finished he said he hopes I’ll become a regular customer and if I have any problems to come in and he’ll help me out!

I also made an appointment that day to get my mental health plan done so I can go back to seeing my therapist which, clearly, I super need!!!

Oh, and I also even mentioned to someone I know from my last workplace that I’ve been wanting to learn how to play d&d but didn’t have anyone to teach me and she said that if a spot opened up on a campaign she’d let me know!!!!

At the end of the month, I took a mental health day with my mum. We stayed home all day and did the bare minimum and it was so good! I sat and watched the Derry Girls and then mum and I watched half of The Haunting of Hill House and we talked about what anxiety and depression and paranoia sound like in our head and talked a lot about mental health and it was just really lovely even though it was emotional and I cried.

I know it kind of sounds like this month was a bit of a downer but overall it really wasn’t and it also didn’t feel like that. For the most part, I was happy and motivated and got a good amount of reading done and was productive! I even cleaned out my car!

Sometimes it’s easy for me to focus on just the negatives but I have to remind myself that even though I had some downer moments I am nowhere near as consistently down as I was just a few months ago and that’s progress! I just have to keep focusing on my health, both physical and mental and talking to my mum when I’m sad and talking through my feelings. I say that like it’s the easiest thing in the world when I am in fact Queen Of Not Reaching Out.

A few days ago, Katie Bates’s Instagram (@kgbates2000) suddenly went public.

As a result, some speculated that Katie, now 17, might be in a relationship—

You see, in the Bates Family, 'single’ girls don’t seem to have public IGs. Carlin (@carlinbates98) and Josie (@josbates) both went public only after meeting that ‘special friend.’ So... Could Katie be pre–courting, as well? Let’s take a look at the data!

Too Young To Pre–Court?

Katie Grace Bates was born to Gil and Kelly Jo Bates on October 5, 2000. So, she’s currently 17.53 Years old. On Season 7, Episode 1 of Bringing Up Bates (BUB), at 5:10, Kelly Jo said that Bates girls “can ‘officially’ have a boyfriend” at Age 18. It’s clear, though, that ‘unofficial’ romances can start (and have started) earlier than that. Also in BUB 701, at 5:18, for example, Alyssa complained that Gil + Kelly “didn’t even let [her] talk to John until [she] was 18”—suggesting that Alyssa + John met, got to know, and developed romantic feelings for each other well before that. Further, in BUB 715 (“Another Beautiful Season of Blessings”), at 32:20, Kelly admitted that Josie + Kelton started talking when Josie was only 15 Years old. Kelly said—

“Kelton and Josie started out as friends, and they were really good friends, but they became more serious. So, Gil had asked Josie how she felt about just kind of... putting the brakes on to that whole relationship until she got a little bit older.”

Josie + Kelton didn’t wait 'til her 18th Birthday, though. Also in BUB 715, which was filmed at Thanksgiving 2017, Josie + Kelton said at 32:05 that they’d begun talking again “about a year” prior—possibly in late–October 2016, during the Bates’ Fall Break trip to Florida. At that point, Josie would’ve been just over 17 Years old. (She turned 17 on August 4, 2016, and 18 on August 4, 2017.) As you can see, Katie is already 4 Months older than that!

So, long story short... Katie is not too young to be pre–courting, but it would be surprising if she actually courted before her 18th Birthday (October 5, 2018).

Where Might We Spot A Special Friend?

Honestly, I’m intrigued that Katie Bates went public on IG so close to the annual ATI Homeschool Conference at Big Sandy. (It’s schedule for April 23—28.) Big Sandy is arguably the place to find a fundie spouse; tons of couples meet there (à la Josh + Anna) or use the conference to ‘get to know each other’ better (à la Erin + Chad). So... Keep your eyes peeled, people!

As for other places, here’s how each the Bates couples, so far, first met—

Zach + Whitney—Met at Sonic Drive–Thru, while Whitney worked there.

Michaela + Brandon—Michaela saw him walking by—like, literally “saw [him] through the window”—in Chicago, just before she went to Journey To The Heart in March 2013.

Erin + Chad—Met at IBLP’s 2011 Valentine’s Day Banquet, on February 11, 2011. Chad was working at the event as a photographer. They then ‘got to know each other’ at Big Sandy 2011.

Alyssa + John—Met when Alyssa worked on John’s father’s campaign; they actually met earlier, at a friend’s wedding, but Alyssa doesn’t recall meeting John there.

Tori + Bobby—Met via “a mutual friend,” almost–certainly Kelton Balka, in 2015. At that time, Josie and Kelton were special friends, and Bobby was Kelton’s best friend and roommate.

Carlin + Evan—Set up by Erin, after Kelly Jo and the Bates’ girls spoke at a “Ladies Conference” at Evan’s church. (Watch here, at 2:55.) That event occurred on September 17, 2016.

Josie + Kelton—During one of the pre–BUB Facebook Lives, Josie said she met Kelton “three years ago” at a piano recital. (Sorry, I can’t bring myself to rewatch all the FB Lives right now and provide the link!) Bates Family Blog, which is fan–run but usually accurate, added that Erin was Kelton’s sister’s piano teacher, so that’s why they were both there.

Personally, I hope Katie isn’t pre–courting. I’m sick of all these teenage brides.

2018, January 16 || IMPULSE 4th anniversary Dorm building

It appeared every one of them had planned this day differently, but that was all fine. There was plenty of time to celebrate all together later on and Taeyeon couldn’t really blame them, because he himself already knew what he was going to do to reach out to the fans. Appearing on private lives on his own wasn’t something new -- they had v-lives scheduled all the time, but every so often they would also be initiated by themselves, and the vocalist couldn’t count the times by now someone had managed to start a live after he had taken off his make up and changed to casual clothes, the bastards. Of course he always did his best to avoid appearing -- his face with make up already wasn’t much special, so he was sure that all the fans were going to have a heart attack seeing him without! No, that wouldn’t do.

The whole setup he had made today however wasn’t for v-live, but rather a private cast through his own Instagram. Taeyeon wasn’t one of the most active on his private social media accounts, a thing he sometimes wanted to change but then forgot about again, but the fact that he still had so many people interacting with him during the rare times he did post anything warmed his heart. Inpulses really were the best.

When the sound of a connection appeared, he almost jumped in surprise, startled by the fact that he so easily had managed to set everything up on his own. He couldn’t exactly brag about being tech savvy -- he knew how to use a phone pretty well, but that was from heavy use and not natural flair. In fact he couldn’t even connect a DVD player to a TV. At first the number that indicated the amount of people watching was small, but it quickly rose, and finally Taeyeon spoke up.

“Wassup people!” his voice resounded in English in the room that was empty other than him and entered the microphone. It had become kind of a trademark greeting and made him feel like he included the international fans even though the rest of the live cast was going to be in Korean.

The comments went past so fast that it was impossible to read all of them -- he could only barely make out the occasional one, but essentially they were greetings and congratulations. He also spotted the occasional ‘사랑해유’ and ‘오빠’. If he had to be completely honest it was pretty intimidating to know that so many people were watching him speak right now, even if he didn’t even have a name or a face on any of them, simply the nicknames flashing across the screen. He would have thought that people’s anonymity was enough to calm the nerves, but it wasn’t in the least. He would also have thought that performing in front of thousands of people was more nerve wrecking than holding a private live cast and... well, that was true. But this was still pretty overwhelming, even after four whole years as a public figure.

On the table before him was a plate with a slice of cake he had found a small candle shaped like a 4 and stuck into. Taeyeon lifted it up so it could better be viewed in the camera. “You all know what day it is today, right? It’s been four years since we got to meet you all for the first time!” Insecure as he felt right now, he had to drown out any such feelings and put up a facade that was much more cheerful. It wasn’t fully a mask though, he was incredibly excited and overwhelmed that this day had come, but it felt awkward to show that excitement in such a way when he was technically talking to no one in particular. He might as well be sitting in his room and talking to himself. But the people watching him weren’t entirely strangers -- many of them were the fans who had supported him and the rest of his members through a whole four year now. He could not let those people down. No one wanted to see the real Taeyeon anyway, the awkward insecure Taeyeon who wasn’t actually that good at holding a conversation with people unless they were friends. But Inpulses were more than that, they were family.

“I think they will get mad at me if I have a live fire around for much longer so I’ll have to blow this out for now...” It seemed like he had a thoughtful break, but in fact, most of what he said had already been scripted before hand. It was a private cast, but he liked being prepared all the same. If he didn’t have at least something to support himself by, he feared he was going to get stuck all of a sudden. “Will you all make a wish with me? It’s not my birthday, but it’s the birthday of us Impulse, so I want to make a wish alongside all of you who have made us what we are today. I’m going to count down from three and then when I blow out the candle, we’ll all wish for at least another 10 years with Impulse, okay? Three! Two! One!”

As promised he blew at the tiny flicker, merciless in his will and thus easily extinguished. Some of the things he did felt incredibly silly and he wondered if such theatrics were really necessary, but apparently it was for publicity. As long as the fans didn’t find it too cringey he didn’t mind too much. Surely a lot of the people from his middle school would make fun of the things he had to do today, but if they had been in his place, he was certain there wasn’t going to be the slightest difference. Grabbing a spoon Taeyeon took the first bite of the cake as he continued his cast. “Mm! This is really good!” The second bite he held out to the camera. “I want inpulses to have some as well... but you can’t, right? That’s sad. I will just have to eat this for you then~.” With words that came out more teasing than he intended, he shifted the spoon and ate the second bite as well. He also swore in his silent mind that he was not going to rewatch this thing or he might very well die of shame.

Instead of finishing of the sweet treat, he put it aside for the time being, clenched his hands and placed his chin in them, facing the camera. “Since this is for all of you, what should I do, I wonder~,” he chimed, already having decided for this to be a free session, and his eyes paid very good attention to the comments, trying to locate anything in the explosion of words that appeared on the screen. Again a lot of them carried the same repeated word, and as expected as it had been, as much had he hoped it wouldn’t be the case. “Aegyo? Come on, you know I can’t do aegyo well...!” There was a slight whining tone present in his voice that definitely wasn’t an act. He didn’t like doing it and he wasn’t good at it at all, but the comments seemed to grow in their insistence after his complaint and by now there seemed to be no way out of it. “Okay okay, you win! What should I even do? The bunny ears...?” On cue he removed his chin from his hands and brought them both behind his head, index and middle fingers formed into v-signs. He then wriggled them imitating the aforementioned ‘rabbit ears’.

It didn’t even last a second before regret hit like a brick and Taeyeon put his hands back down to bury his reddening face in his palms. Why did he always do stuff like this when he just knew he was going to regret it straight afterwards? Ah, he wished he could disappear right now. But when he peeked back at the screen the comments were full of laughter as well as encouraging remarks such as ‘you did well’ and ‘you’re cute’. Cute wasn’t exactly a thing he hoped and wanted to be, but he’d take it he supposed. It was better than them pointing out how lame he looked. “Ah, thank you... I feel like I might die of shame but thank you...!” Although he revealed his face again, the vocalist chose to still hide slightly by resting his cheeks in his palms this time, although one hand quickly moved to grab another bite of the cake, and then back up.

Soon one comment came with another suggestion and the rest followed suit, remembering that he was actually paying attention to them right now, and he was able to go a bit back to his mindset from before the embarrassment. ‘Sing!’ ‘Dance!’ ‘Say hello to Philipines’ “Hello Philipines!” ‘say “I love you” to me!’ ‘Sing!’ ‘Say something in English’ ‘Where’s the other members?’ ‘Sing please!’--

He was barely able to keep up with the comments that were all over the place, but at least this time a common theme was one he didn’t feel all that uncomfortable with. “Alright I’ll sing a bit to you then. Since it’s been four years with Impulse I want to convey my feelings to Inpulses out there, so should I sing a bit of Confession Song?” Other song requests were already coming up, but Taeyeon had already planned from the beginning that at some point he would sing this song today, so it was only favourable for him that it came up in a way where it seemed like it had been requested. He cleared his throat and not too soon after his singing voice sounded into the microphone.

“ I love you, baby I, I love you aju orae jeonbuteo! I love you, Inpulses, I love you I do~.”

His improvisation wasn’t very impressive, but it would have to do. Simple as it was, it was true. “Thank you so much, everyone who’s watching right now or everyone who’s in school right now or sleeping. I love you all. We wouldn’t be anywhere near where we weren’t today if it wasn’t for all of you out there who love and support us and... ah--” Feeling something wet against his cheek Taeyeon realised he had started doing the one thing he didn’t want to: crying. He hated how easy to tears he was, but it didn’t take much to get him sentimental enough, and quite frankly he was amazed he had managed to go this far without ending up with wet eyes. He began wiping away his tears with first fingers and then the sleeves of his shirt.

“Sorry... Sorry about that. I shouldn’t cry today, should I? I’m just so happy, so...” Words trailing off as he had started the sentence without really knowing how to finish it, Taeyeon sniffled a bit and took another bite of the cake to try calm himself down, but he already knew it was pointless. “I’m sorry,” he continued apologising. “It wasn’t supposed to end like this. I’m okay, I promise. But I should go now, we still have a lot to prepare especially for our fanmeet.”

What he could make out told him to stay longer and not to leave but he doubted he was going to be able to keep up the act for much longer, and had to end it sometimes soon. One comment however caught his eye right at the end. “Can I give a spoiler for the fanmeet? Of course I can’t! They’re already upset with me after I spoiled Fly for you last time, so please just be patient okay? I love you all and I hope to see many of your cute faces at our fanmeet!”
