i actually love journalling as a hobby so much.. flipped thru my 2018 - 2023 planners and bujos and seeing all the complex artistic spreads is lovely... i used to put a lot of effort into that and i'm glad i can look back on it fondly. also seeing how over the years my daily tasks changed (or sometimes stayed the same) is so cool, as well as when memorable events happened.

i've since moved away from freeform bullet journals with rlly involved fully original spreads to planners with predated pages. last year was a scribbles that matter b5 planner but the weekly pages were too big so i felt a lot of pressure to decorate them with stickers and washi just like i did with my bujos, and also the daily spaces were not big enough for memory keeping / daily rambles. so this year i went back to my a6 hobonichi techo era just like in my uni years, and i really enjoy it. it's wonderful with my fountain pens; i use them to doodle decorations more than i use washi or stickers, and i have space to write whatever i want. nearly every page is full; there are periods when i don't use it much, but i enjoy going back and filling those pages with poems or drawings.

i don't really feel sad that i've stopped making the very creative and elaborate bujo spreads i did before. they looked lovely, but weren't as functional as the system i've landed on at the present, and they were so time-consuming that they ended up feeling like a chore so every few months i'd get burnt out and stop journalling. that's no longer an issue since i figured out what i needed from my planners, and that is structure with flexibility.

I think that Remus would have a journal titled “Things I want to say”, and it’s mostly the rude remarks in his head about other people. He’d bring it with him everywhere and write in it constantly.

He’d have a six page rant about something and the next entry would just say “I might have overreacted.”

“No, Pads, that won’t get you detention. You’ll totally get away with it.”

He’d also occasionally have self-deprecating entries and (moving away from the angst) comments to himself like “I need to build a bridge and get the hell over it!”

My most-played song on Spotify so far for 2024 is Antimatter by Silent Planet.

I wrote almost 100k more words in 2022 than I did in 2023 (270,202 vs 170,474). To be fair to myself, I hadn't written anything from August '23 to March '24.

My most-played video game is Fallout 4, with a whopping 1,215 hours and 43-minute playtime. I only beat it three times, once with the Minute Men and twice with the Railroad).
