#will always be on the first line to bite those who r mean to skinner but him having the worst sv% of starting ploff goalies since 05 is act#vely insane#or rather makes me so freaking.#likw the oilers could be a team that can outscore their issues if their issues were less drastic#like obviously im not saying its skinners fault but a team front stacked just cearly doesnt work#like the leafs are proof enough#also if they consistently have goalie issues then surely the issue is outside the specific goalie too#theyve been a competitive team since like 2016? 2017? and made it to the wcf once#kinda just talking to talk atp but like. what freaking ever#theyre the oldest team in the playoffs im pretty sure#cmd’s biological clock and what not.#cup or bust is also like. like yeah theyre besties but edm is clearly not working#but it took the caps 12? 13? years so …!

this is one of those things that you have to watch more than once to get the full effect
#like yes ball goes in basket#but it's more than that#it's that she barely needs an inch of space to shoot a three#the speed at which she releases the ball#the way she can just pull up and shoot#the no look passes the one handed pass or even better the one handed catch#that one where she shoots on lj#or a fun game is watching her beat up on becky [stars number 25]#i really like the pull up 3 on sue and then puts her hands up bc she didn't get the foul#or and we've covered how much i like this play#the bouncing the ball off i think katie douglas' legs and then pointing to the other end of the court to indicate possession#the handle that she has on the ball is just so incredible to me#and you know the 2014 championship winning shot isn't on here bc this came out 4 years prior#but i've rewatched that several times#and on first glance you think oh it's just a jumper plus contact#but that's not true#she's shooting that with no guide hand while in midair up against another body#another thing that i know they talk about the the single elimination games record but she's 3 for 4 in wnba finals series#and 2 of the 3 that's she's won she's been finals mvp#and i was thinking today about how they could have run it back in 2010 and 2011 if cappie hadn't left#but they probably wouldn't have gotten bg if she had stayed#ik 2012 penny and dt were out for all/most of the season but you never know#i was also thinking today how dt and the merc really should have made more playoff runs#specifically in her first 3 years#and how the instability of the roster/coaching has made it that much harder#like they get paul and cappie in 2006 and win 07 then penny and paul are out in 2008 but penny is back in 09 and they get db and win#then cappie leaves in 2010#and then 2012 dt and pt are out 2013 pt out again but they get bg#2014 it clicks and they win it all best team ever then 2015 dt pt sit out#2016 penny's last year 2017 db sits out

Jake Guentzel will become a free agent this summer, making it possible for him to sign anywhere he wants, including a reunion with the Penguins.
However, after spending the past two months in Carolina, it appears Guentzel has a strong desire to re-sign with the Hurricanes.
“I loved my experience here,” Guentzel said Saturday. “It’s a great place to play. I don’t think you realize the behind the scenes, how good it is. The guys make it good too. We’re going to see what happens over the next little bit here.”
Guentzel was productive for the Hurricanes, scoring 25 points (eight goals, 17 assists) in 25 regular-season games to help Carolina finish second in the Metropolitan Division. He also tallied nine points (four goals, five assists) in 11 playoff games. The Hurricanes lost in the second round of the playoffs to the Rangers in six games.
“This team for sure can win the Stanley Cup,” Guentzel said. “I think it’s right there. This puts you in a good spot to do that. I want to do that more than anything, and that’s all I care about. That definitely plays a factor into it. Hopefully you can kind of get some stability and be able to sign here long term.”
Guentzel has scored 227 goals over his first eight NHL seasons, and won a Stanley Cup with the Penguins in 2017. As a 29-year-old with that kind of productivity and playoff experience, he'll likely get a sizable contract this summer.

New article/interview with Pernille.
"So what's the worst?
- Sometimes she goes a little extra hard on me in training, says a laughing Pernille Harder and continues.
- She's been told that. There have certainly been some situations where we've gotten mad at each other. But luckily we always resolve it on the way in the car before we get home."
😂😂😂
https://bold.dk/fodbold/klubber/danmark-k/nyheder/pernille-harder-tabte-em-finale-ikke-min-storste-skuffelse
Pernille Harder lost the European Championship final: Not my biggest disappointment
Pernille Harder has had an impressive career with a multitude of titles. However, one of her greatest experiences is actually a defeat in a final.
December traditionally offers a Christmas calendar here at Bold, and again this year we talk to a wide range of football personalities about their experiences on and off the pitch.
The theme this year is best and worst. It could be best and worst match, best and worst contract offer, best and worst opponent and much more.
Behind the tenth goal we find one of Europe's best female footballers in the form of Pernille Harder.
The Danish world star has been a profile on the national team for 15 years and has led Denmark to great results.
At club level, she has also been unstoppable with a championship nine seasons in a row.
Here she looks back on the many titles, the various ups and downs, and the best and worst of playing together with her partner, Magdalena Eriksson.
Lost a European Championship final Pernille Harder has played an impressive 156 matches for Denmark since she made her debut back in 2009.
Here Harder scored a hat trick in a 15-0 victory over Georgia, and since then she has grown bigger and bigger to the day she stands as one of Danish football's greatest.
But there are both good and bad experiences when you go out in red and white.
What has been the best experience for you with the Danish national team?
- Of course it's the final in 2017. But otherwise it's also that feeling every time you put on the national team jersey and go out and play an international match. It's really big.
- But the European Championship final was huge. I didn't realise at the time how big it really was. It's even more so now when you look back on it and you can really see what a great match and experience it was.
What was it like to be in those days?
- There wasn't much focus on us at the beginning, but it came more and more the closer we got to the final. There was a lot of focus from the population. Even though we didn't win the final, we were still well received at the Town Hall Square, where we saw how many people there were. It was really a great experience for us.
Photo: Yves Herman/Reuters/Ritzau Scanpix
- It was also great, as women's football was not as recognized as we wanted it to be in Denmark before then. But being able to feel the support from the population during the final round, and especially at the end of the final round, was really great.
- Despite the defeat in the final, it was great to feel the support and interest that was there for us. Of course, I remember the match itself, but almost more the recognition that we received from the population, it was really great.
Denmark lost the European Championship final 2-4 to the Netherlands. Pernille Harder and Nadia Nadim scored Denmark's goals. Photo: Ritzau Scanpix
What stands out as the worst experience for you when you have been with the national team?
- The worst experience must be when we lost to the Netherlands in the playoff for the 2019 World Cup.
- We have missed many World Cup finals. It was a huge disappointment and a terrible feeling that we didn't make it then.
But you've lost a European Championship final. How is it that it's a missed World Cup that stands out as the worst experience?
- It is in relation to the expectations and the goals we set for ourselves that we should make it to the final rounds. When we don't achieve that, it is a bigger disappointment than losing in a European Championship final, where the very expectations and goal for that final round perhaps wasn't to win gold.
- So when we can't live up to the goals we set for ourselves, it's a bigger disappointment than anything else.
- It was therefore a huge relief when I came to my first World Cup in 2023. It was a relief when we qualified.
Points to U16 showdown despite wild matches. Throughout her career, Pernille Harder has always been the one to bet on.
It has been on the national team, but also in various top European clubs, where Harder has been a star in Wolfsburg, Chelsea and Bayern Munich with lots of goals and titles.
What stands as your best match of your career?
- Oh. My best match? That's hard. It must be one where I scored a lot of goals. It's hard to say one. Can't you think of one? Pernille Harder says cheekily.
Is there not a single match where you feel like you hit it perfectly?
- I would say that I have had many of them. So it is difficult to choose one of them. But there is one that I remember. However, we have to go back very, very, very far.
- I think it was an internal U16 international match. It was one of the first matches where I just felt like everything was coming together. I could do anything. I could turn on the opponent and dribble past three players. It was the first time I felt: Okay, what's going on here?
- The national coach said at the time that it was one of the best things he had ever seen.
How was it to hear that?
- At that time, it really gave you faith in the future and dreams of becoming a professional footballer. It gave you a lot of self-confidence.
But in an impressive career, it is also possible to find a highlight, where Pernille Harder especially remembers a match against Manchester United during her time at Chelsea back in 2021.
- You can't remember the games themselves, but I can remember the goals. I scored a really great goal against Manchester United away from home.
- Here I won the ball in the middle and dribbled down towards the goal. I ran past several defenders and chipped it over the goalkeeper. It's a goal that I remember.
Photo: Lee Smith/Reuters/Ritzau Scanpix
What stands as the worst fight?
- I deliver pretty much consistently every time, Pernille Harder laughs and continues. I don't even think I've scored an own goal before.
- But it probably has to be the Champions League final against FC Barcelona with Chelsea in 2021. It's one of the worst matches in terms of the team, where we were behind 0-4 after almost 20 minutes.
- Everything just went against us. There were some strange goals, so it was tough.
Nine championships in a row Pernille Harder is on a wild streak when you look at the number of championships.
In almost a decade, the Danish star has never played a season without finally being able to find the champagne and celebrate another championship. This has happened at four different clubs.
Linköping in Sweden, Wolfsburg and Bayern Munich in Germany and Chelsea in England.
Which championship are you most proud of?
- It's maybe my first with Linköping. It was a title that we fought our way to over a number of years with the same team. We went from being in the top five to becoming the best in Sweden. It was a cool process, which made the title really cool.
- It was over a four-year period when we got a new coach, and he brought in 11 new players.
- There were many young people like Fridolina Rölfo, Stina Blackstenius and Magdalena Eriksson. We came as young people in 2013, where over three/four years we developed as players and a team, so we won the championship in 2016.
- It was great to be part of the process that resulted in a championship.
Which title are you most disappointed you didn't win?
- I've played in three Champions League finals, so it almost has to be one of them. It would have been great if I had won one. But the worst is the Champions League final against FC Barcelona in 2021, which I mentioned before.
- It's the Champions League title that I'm most tired of not winning. I also remember my first Champions League final against Lyon, where I actually scored to make it 1-0 in extra time.
- They managed to score four goals. So it was so close for me, but still not.
Photo: Gabriel Bouys/Reuters/Ritzau Scanpix
How is it that you are missing that Champions League title? Is that something that bothers you?
- It's not something that bothers me in everyday life. I also think that I could have a good life if I didn't manage to win it before I quit. But of course, as a competitive person, it would be great to be able to lift that trophy.
- It's something I still dream about. It's also great that there's still something to dream about for the rest of my career. So maybe I'll win it.
Playing with her partner Pernille Harder is not only a star on the court, as she is also an icon outside the chalk lines.
Here she is a role model for many in the LGBTQ+ community, as she herself has been very open about her sexuality. Harder is paired with Swedish star Magdalena Eriksson.
The two met during their time in Linköping, and have since played together at Chelsea and now Bayern Munich.
What's the best thing about playing on a team with your partner?
- The best thing is that we know exactly what each other is going through. We can always be the best support for each other. When one is down, the other knows how to get each other back up.
- We have a total understanding of what each other is going through. For better or worse. That's probably the best thing about it.
Photo: Paul Childs/Reuters/Ritzau Scanpix
So what's the worst?
- Sometimes she goes a little extra hard on me in training, says a laughing Pernille Harder and continues.
- She's been told that. There have certainly been some situations where we've gotten mad at each other. But luckily we always resolve it on the way in the car before we get home.
You have also played against her in matches with the national team.
- She's disgusting to play against. There's no doubt about that. If she can't win the ball, she'll definitely take a free kick. She won't let anyone get past her, no matter what.
- It's nice to have on your team, but not so nice to play against.
Gold velvet pajamas However, it's not just about Pernille Harder's many achievements as a football player.
After all, it is an advent calendar, and that is why we have arrived at the most important question of this section.
What is the best Christmas present you have ever received?
- The best Christmas present I've ever received? Uh, it's got to be a bike when I was younger. I got a bike for Christmas, and that's just the one that comes to mind.
- I don't want much more today. Now it's a little cooler to give Christmas presents.
What is the worst Christmas present you have ever received?
- It must have been some nightwear that I once got. I got some gold velour nightwear. I don't need to get that again in the future, Pernille Harder concludes with a laugh.

Evgeni Malkin said he's always felt slightly overlooked.
One of the premier centers of his generation, the 37-year-old has played his NHL career as the second center on the Pittsburgh Penguins behind longtime teammate Sidney Crosby. He was the No. 2 pick in the 2004 NHL Draft. Alex Ovechkin, possibly the only Russia-born player more statistically accomplished, went No. 1 to the Washington Capitals.
Malkin doesn't mind. Actually, it's just the way he likes it.
"I'm not the kind of guy that wants media around me. I like to be quiet a little bit," Malkin said. "I want to just play the game. Probably, people want, like, my private life a little bit more. But I'm, like, a little bit closed.
"Maybe my English is not good before, not talk too much with media. Again, this is kind of myself. I'm OK with that because I know I'm a good player."
Numbers do talk, though. In his 18th season, Malkin is third in Penguins history with 1,261 points, 485 goals and 776 assists, trailing Mario Lemieux (1,723 points; 690 goals, 1,033 assists) and Crosby (1,540 points; 571 goals, 969 assists).
Ovechkin reached out after Malkin eclipsed Fedorov.
"He's a star in the League," Ovechkin said. "I think he's a tremendous player. He knows how to win. He knows how to play. It's not a surprise he has so many points, so many goals and assists."
"People are talking about Ovi a lot. They talk about (Connor) McDavid. They talk about (Nathan) MacKinnon," Letang said. "You don't hear Geno's name a lot. What he's been able to do in this league for that long and at this age still, being the goal scorer that he is, it's just special.
"I think it's always been (that way), except maybe the year he won the Hart and everything. I think it's always been a little bit like that. He's not seen to his true color."
Without Malkin, Crosby said his NHL career would have been more difficult. That pair, along with Letang, has won the Stanley Cup three times (2009, 2016, 2017). They qualified for the Stanley Cup Playoffs in 16 consecutive seasons together before missing them last season.
"There are nights where you don't feel great or have your best," Crosby said. "You're watching Geno do his thing out there. That's happened a lot. I think we've pushed each other over the years, but he's a guy that has always stepped up when he needs to. I think that's just the competitive nature in him.
"I think the consistency is the biggest thing. You don't have that kind of consistency without being as competitive as he is. He's been amazing for a lot of years. The stats show it."
"I think the biggest thing for me that I admire about Geno is how competitive he is," Penguins coach Mike Sullivan said. "Just his competitive spirit is off the charts. His will to win, his want to win, and his will and want to score and produce offense. I don't think anyone likes scoring goals more than 'G.' You can see it in his raw emotion when he scores.
"Sometimes, I don't think Geno gets the credit that he deserves in the hockey world for the body of work that he's put together in this league and how talented he is. He's without a doubt one of the greatest players of all-time."
love a good geno lovefest
#i’ll never get sick of the people who actually matter going: of course he’s the best#evgeni malkin#sidney crosby#kris letang#mike sullivan#alex ovechkin#pittsburgh penguins

Your post of all the first overalls to girl interrupted actively makes me feel crazy. Do you have a ranking of the most compelling first overalls?
cody's list of most compelling (active) (to me) first overalls
21. aaron ekblad (2014.) i don't care for the florida panthers
20. alexis lafreniere (2020). his strongest narrative juices are a) the bust thing (he was a covid baby, it takes time) and b) maybe him also going to rimouski like sid, if you really wanted to pull it out like that. but the two of them have little otherwise connection, so not really
19. owen power (2021) this is a list ranked by compellingness and not cutieness or who i would want to provide most with feminizing hrt against their will
18. nico hischier (2017) even some of the least compelling 1oas are still quite interesting IMHO -- nico is the highest ever drafted swiss player + a very young captain on a basement team + a CHL import. all of which *are* juicy. he just lacks... i don't know, a little extra je ne sais quoi
17. macklin celebrini (2024) invoking the power of "He Literally Just Got Here" for this one. the daddy issues are a powerful offset though
16. ryan nugent-hopkins (2011). the power of the longest-tenured member of a team is quite something. earns points for not being an upper middle class rich boy either
15. nathan mackinnon (2013). controversial to put him so low i know but in my genuine and honest opinion he's way more interesting as a Character than a Part Of The Narrative. crucial divide here. i'm about to talk about slaf's personality making him interesting narratively but they do want their good canadian boys to shut up and take it and nate doesn't rebel against that. all he wants to do is win (accomplished) and fuck sidcros (negligible)
14. juraj slafkofsky (2022) just barely edges out the nuge by virtue of a) the whole First Slovak thing (see nico) and b) his new and upcoming beef with the slovak federation??? what's all that about because THAT'S juice. THAT'S spark. slaf's great because not only are his little circumstances compelling but he's also got such a Personality to him. his little rockstar attitude. his little braces. I will show him where is Slovakia. yessss girl
13. rasmus dahlin (2018). im a dahlin attention payer so he's probably higher than he "should" be but CAPTAIN OF THE BUFFALO SABRES I AM SO SORRY.
12. erik johnson (2006) hugely fascinated by his fall from grace via golf cart, which is not a route most people take. and then of course he was a crucial emotional crux of the avs up until their 2022 run and in my belief a much more important part of their fall from grace post-run than whatever landeskog is doing. and of course any flyer is relevant by nature
11. jack hughes (2019) you cannot deny the hughes are interesting narratively because they are important. he's not as interesting or as important as quinn though so obviously not as high on the list as he might have otherwise been
10. taylor hall (2010) actually super interesting because he has, throughout his entire career, been on one (1) good team (the 2022-23 boston bruins). he has a hart trophy!!! you guys know he has a fucking hart trophy right???? while they were drafting davo et al, he was an oiler. while they were drafting nico, he was a devil, while they were drafting owen, he was a sabre, and when they drafted connor bedard he was a blackhawk. always the bridesmaid, never the bride
9. steven stamkos (2008). there's always something to be said for waiting a long time to get what you want. and then once that goal's been accomplished, they throw you out.
8. connor bedard (2023) Let's Get Generational With It
7. john tavares (2009) brief let's un-get generational with it to talk about mr magic amulet breaking TWO entire playoff round curses as captain, twice. about him choosing toronto. about Him
6. auston matthews (2016) what if you were a vain shy arizona boy who wanted nothing more than to be a star and then they gave it to you and then you immediately had to learn that it's not nearly as good as you thought it was going to be. and you were actually kind of gay the whole time (im biased. this is cody sergeifyodorov's immense toronto bias. be normal)
5. patrick kane (2007)
4. marc-andre fleury (2003) the whole saga of him in pittsburgh AND the whole saga of him in vegas AND the whole saga of him in minnesota (and the brief intermission when he was in chicago) are all massive narrative moments of their own, but to have all of them? to be a goaltender that lucky and that loved for that long? it's not done. it will never be done again.
3. connor mcdavid (2015) I Love It When The Ginger Man Suffers
2. alexander ovechkin (2004) you know i could write essays on ovi. i could write dissertations. people have already done so -- i would not be the first and will not be the last if i join their ranks. i could take about the goals and the record chase. i could talk about the way he's been juxtaposed against the guy who you really should have known going in was going to be number one for his whole career. i could talk about the hunt for 2018, and the long, long time they said he was useless, no matter the record. but i will say after me. after me, i give it to you, baby.
sidney crosby (2005). obviously
#asks#not tagging everyone you're just gonna have to get in here and read#i have a leafs loss to be watching

anyway. a lot of horrible things have happened in my life since may 12, 2014. some of the worst experiences of my life. my dad died in october of 2014. my sister comitted suicide in 2017. my mom died of cancer in 2020. i moved states. i lost jobs. i once had a period that lasted four months. i've had horrible money issues. i've lost friends. i've watched the packers continue to lose in the playoffs. and somehow, through all of that, i have not harmed myself. i've thought about it. i've thought about it so much i can see it in my minds eye. i've wanted to die more than i've ever wanted to die before. after my sisters death i wanted to lay in bed until i rotted.
and somehow, through all of that, i'm still here. i haven't self harmed. i haven't made plans. i haven't hurt myself. and i think that's really cool.
happy 10 years of being self harm clean to me.

we got to see this matchup again and i gotta say it feels like 2017 the way the lynx are so dominant rn. the fact that the aces are losing to them not once, but TWICE in a ROW… man. MAN.
a’ja was a little off her game - i rarely see her w out a double and shooting under 50%. problem with a’ja being off her game is it doesn’t feel like the rest of the starting five is stepping up. nobody even broke 15 points y’all like… this the back to back champs??? shitttt
like this is a team that is not taking care of the ball on either end of the floor. every single one of the starters turned the ball over at least 3 times except alysha, their efficiency was fine but come on. it’s the ACES. i’ve seen it way better, and considering this is a team they just LOST to??? obv we’re not even worried about playoff berth here - but damn! that should be an ego hit at the very least!
i just wanna talk about napheesa collier for a second. phee needs to be in more mvp convos. like in my head rn, the mvp ranking goes a’ja, phee, stewie. i don’t think that’s anything crazy, and obv i got AT up there, too.
look at what phee did tonight y’all!!!! i mean this shit is WILD: 27 points, 18 REBOUNDS??? ONE EIGHT?? EIGHTFUCKINGTEEN??? on 73% SHOOTING???? 50% from three y’all and 5 dimes and a couple steals like. that’s an insane stat line bro. it’s fucking NUTS. WHY are we not TALKING ABOUT PHEE??? maybe we are and i’m just not seeing it but… phee, man.
lord look at that husky
atlanta dream vs phoenix mercury
i cannot wait until the atlanta dream aren’t playing anymore bc i actually cannot stand watching them play. i got my stanny loyalties but haley jones is so painfully mediocre rn so i’m really just gonna leave it.
diana lorena taurasi a 360 pass is stupid. it’s STUPID. oh my god that shit is so dee i love it.
los angeles sparks vs washington mystics
hellooooo bueckers bowl!! paige watching this game, biting her fingernails, knowing she’s going to whichever team loses… man i love the w 💀💀💀
battle of the shitty franchises i fucking GUESS like… anyway slim had a gameeee (28 points), kira w a nice double double (14/11), ariel atkins with 15 too (you know i had to get my longhorn in there)
you know what LA’s fuckin problem is??? imma tell you what LA’s fuckin problem is. DOGSHIT efficiency. and y’all are like… yeah, no shit. but like ACTUALLY consider how ridiculous this is: they play a four-forward lineup and not ONE of their bigs breaches 50% fgp except rickea this game. WHAT the FUCK.
especially with THIS lineup?? clock the mismatch!!! you’re gonna have smaller guys on you - there is literally NO REASON they should be out scoring y’all in the paint.
OH MY GOD A1 FUCKIN TANK JOB LIKE JESUS FUCKING CHRIST
chicago sky vs connecticut sun
clock how close this was y’all: 82-80 sun win.
then clock that marina mabrey got 24 tn to get the W over her old team.
you can’t even script this shit bro it’s just too good 😭😭😭
man just one more board for AT for the triple: 12/9/11 like she really like that bro.
speaking of stats… how angel reese had 20 BOARDS?? just wiping down that glass tonight HOLY SHIT
yeah this should’ve been an easier win. every day i wonder how the FUCK chicago could’ve given up marina and why the FUCK they did when somebody got their pick anyway… jesus christ y’all
anyway… excited for the rest of the season and the postseason. college football coming up, i won’t yap about it but i’ll be internally insufferable about being in the sec now 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 have a blessed night y’all

the truth
July 31, 2017
Sidney was brought into a meeting with the Penguins to talk about their upcoming season and players they need to keep an eye on in the lower levels, rookies from the training camp this summer, possible trades.
Sidney was listening and talking through out the meeting but in the back of his mind he wondered why August wasn’t brought up yet for the next season especially with how well she played last year and in her rookie season.
“Any questions?” The head manger looked around the conference room filled with the team at the end of the meeting.
“Yeah.” Sidney cleared his throat, “Where is August?” Sidney didn’t hear her name once, he saw the look traded between his coach and the GM.
“You should talk to August about this.” Mike Sullivan told his player, knowing that August did not want her brother knowing about her trade until it was finalized so he couldn’t talk her out of it and when it was finalized the Penguins were getting close to playoffs and she didn’t want to distract him.
Sidney was unsettled as he walked out for he meeting and got into car driving straight to August’s apartment, he skipped multiple steps using the staircase up to her apartment before quickly knocking on the door.
August looked up from the cake she was decorating and grabbed a hand towel wiping her hands as she headed to the front door. “Hey Sid?” August smiled slightly in surprise not supposed to be seeing her brother today.
“Where are you playing this season?” Sidney demanded at his little sister, he watched as her eyes widen and she swallowed nervously and turned around leaving the door opening and walking back to the kitchen.
“I got an offer.” August spoke out into the silence of her kitchen looking at her cake and not her brother.
“For what.” Sidney questioned stoically.
“To the Knights.” August spoke quietly, still not looking at her brother.
“You traded.” Sidney realized in disbelief and now knew why she visited Vegas a few weeks ago.
“I did.” August nodded looking up nervously at her brother.
“Why?” Sidney softly questioned having loved playing with his sister and did not want to stop playing on the same team as her, he dreamed of the days she would join the NHL and was ecstatic when she joined the Penguins.
“Everything i’ve worked for, every accomplishment i’ve made is questioned because i’m your sister and being drafted to the same team as you was great but i don’t want to be know as your sister or the player who is only good because they are on their brothers team, i want to make my own name and my own mark in this league and i can not do that if i am on the penguins.” August desperately spoke looking up at her brother with tears lined in her eyes.
For years she dealt with the comments because she is related to Sidney Crosby but she didn’t know how bad her rookie year would be. Everything she did during her rookie year was compared to Sidney, she had multiple interviews where they bluntly asked her how much Sidney payed for her to get drafted and to go to the penguins, it didn’t matter how well she played and how amazing she was in the playoffs all anyone ever saw was the little sister of Sidney Crosby.
“Oh Auggie.” Sidney felt his heart break seeing how upset his little sister was and realized how long she has been keeping this in, he didn’t hesitate a second and hurried across the kitchen and swept across the kitchen pulling his little sister in a tight hug.
“I’m sorry.” August choked out between her tears holding onto her brother tightly.
“No i’m sorry.” Sidney felt tears in his eyes, as his eighteen year old sister has been feeling like this for so long and mostly because of him.
“I just want to make my own name.” August whispered calming down slightly in the protective arms of her big brother.
“You already have, but you gonna keep making it bigger and i have no doubt you’re gonna do incredible things in this league and Vegas will be very lucky to have you little sister.” Sidney pulled back and looked at his sister as he spoke and pressed a kiss to the side of her head.
“Thank you.” August wiped her tears and gave her brother a smile having been worried he would be angry about the news.
“Always.” Sidney promised.
