Before we get to Jungkook’s next birthday, we must discuss Jungkook’s Coming of Age Day. What is the Coming of Age Day ceremony in South Korea? 

“Coming of Age Day” ceremony is held on the Monday of the third week of May and performed by men and women turning 20 in the same year to signify their debut into adulthood as independent individuals. Source.

Jungkook celebrated his Coming of Age day on May 16, 2016 while in Bergen, Norway with his Bangtan brothers. They were there filming their very first season of Bon Voyage. Jungkook’s hyungs threw a small surprise party for him and the following day they celebrated with ARMY on V Live. 

On Coming of Age Day, many people will receive three gifts from their friends: a kiss, a flower (usually a rose), and perfume. Source. You can see in the video, Jungkook gets teased about which member will give him a kiss.

Jungkook doesn’t let the Coming of Age celebration end in Bergen. He keeps the party going all the way through FESTA where he performs a dance duet cover of Park Ji Yoon’s Coming of Age Ceremony with Jimin.

Bangtan shares Jimin’s surprise party with us in this Bangtan Bomb. Tae has the honor of giving Jimin the flowers that Jimin’s father sent.

In the BTB, all the members are seen talking about giving JM gifts except for JK. He stays quite in the background.  BUT we know JK gave ONLY Jimin a gift this year because it was mentioned in the 2017 FESTA video. 

I think it is interesting to note that Jungkook never really answers the question Why did you only get a present for Jimin? even though Jimin tells him he has no time limit to explain and tells him to Say everything you want. Jimin really wanted to hear Jungkook’s answer.

We are blessed with this Bangtan Bomb for Jungkook’s birthday. Jimin buys Jungkook a new camera bag and is very excited to give it to the maknae. VOGUE Research & Deadline Extension:

While looking through the VOGUE archives to find inspiration for my own image, I interestingly came across a few covers that are slightly leading/ derogatory towards women. The older covers, demonstrate the ‘ideal’ model in a tight, short corset, and has a women removing her ‘mask’ from her face. The newer covers, have leading imagery, a sexual gaze, and, in the case of Kendalls cover, has text supporting the imagery with objectifying undertones (‘the face that launched a billion likes’). While I thought these were interesting to look at, I am unsure if I will swap any of my postcards out at this stage.

Additionally, we were notified today that we would be getting a department extension of five days for the summative deadline. This makes the critical commentary due on Friday the 15th of October and the postcard and images set due on Friday the 22nd of October.
