This is likely the hardest I've laughed in rain world yet. Basically, you can glitch a spear into a quantum state using a dead bat body, allowing stabbed enemies to follow you through tunnels. So I tried bringing a leviathan to Moon. And the game really, really didn't like that

Learning so many youtubers are parents who for most of their online popularity weren’t lately is jarring, partially because a lot of them still look so young and I associate them with being like. early 20s. so my brain can’t get past that, but still refreshing that the reason this is also jarring is because they apparently don’t put their kid out there online and didn’t make their entire channels about being a parent

so for like, a decade plus, i've been searching for a youtube video i remember seeing back in 2007, and i've finally managed to make some headway:

good news: i've found it

bad news: it's lost media

#it's been bugging me for so long honestly #ive talked about it in my tags before but its basically the video that introduced me to roblox #it's probably a bit silly to have been searching for this video. but part of the reason ive been looking is to see how good my memory is #specifically memories from when i was 9 years old. and how those memories have aged given im 26 now #like id say my memory is pretty good. specifically remembering specific details from memories long ago #like that isn't to say they're perfect. like i'll get some details wrong. but i know the general idea of what i saw #but basically #it's basically some old roblox bloopers video that had their character in a baseball cap and lugia t-shirt #now for a few years i wasn't sure i was correct on this person wearing a lugia t-shirt #and so at some point i figured i had to give up looking for that specific detail #since literally no video i could find had these two details combined. id find characters with baseball caps but never with a lugia t-shirt #and by that point i was afraid i wouldn't be able to find this video. or worse. my memory was wrong and it was something i watched in 2008 #but i knew it had to be uploaded before december 12th. 2007. because thats when i made my account #and the way i found it was going through 11 pages of a youtube search for ''lego videos''#i was specifically looking for new lego videos to watch. or find something that seemed more interesting than lego mario stop motion #and there was one video that stood out. which was some random roblox bloopers video. mixed in with a bunch of random lego videos #anyway. just today i was scrolling through twitters ''for you'' tab and happened upon a thread showing off lost roblox youtube thumbnails #and i was like ''well. can't hurt to see if theres anything in here that i recognize.''#and lo and behold. a roblox dude in a blue baseball cap and a lugia t-shirt. labeled as ''ROBLOX Bloopers!''#i could feel the anvil of my doubt free itself from my brain because i finally had proof of a video that lines up with my memory #thats not to say this is the exact video but 99% certain it's uploaded by the same person. like it could be roblox bloopers part 2 #but anyway. the channel and the video(s) are lost and while im sad i can't watch it to confirm my memory #im happy to see that there's evidence that lines up with my memory of what i saw back then #for reference. it was uploaded by someone named 'Furzniak' at the time. and it was uploaded on July 21st. 2007

One thing I really wanna do moving forward is just like. Post more As Me. I have always struggled with being overly self-editing and the way that manifests online is me wanting to post and then not.

the thought process is always like, I wanna post my thoughts about something -> but what if I'm wrong or misunderstood or I don't write the thoughts good or no one cares -> might as well avoid the chance of failure and just not post

and that's kind of silly. i follow so many people who make text posts about all kinds of things or add their thoughts to other posts etc and I'm never like "well this person is stupid and also they write bad". if someone writes something i disagree with i think briefly about why and what position they might be coming from and continue with my day. if someone writes something ineloquent i'm like cool i'm on the internet and also i still get what they're trying to say so, communication successful. if someone writes something i don't understand i'm like huh and then maybe spend a minute trying to figure things out, or just, again, keep on scrollin. if someone posts about their day or their wip or like a cool rock they saw i'm like nice *thumbs up emoji* or hell yeah or even damn!!! that is a cool rock!!! and i rarely give that sort of post a like even if i Like it because i'm weird (my likes are where i save things for later, generally) but i do read and enjoy basically all of them that come across my dash. so I shouldn't assume that no one sees my posts or that no one cares because they don't get any notes.

i am an introverted guy in general and Being Seen is hard but also this is tumblr. what are the stakes. who cares if no one likes my post about trains that i put on my writing blog for some reason. they can unfollow me if they don't like my vague opinions or my cool post about trains

fear is the mind killer etc but guess what!! this is my mind palace and i have the knife. so who's the killer now

this might be very niche but i love when you start watching a new youtube channel and you can immediately tell that the person is very smart and know what they're talking about and can formulate an argument!! there are so many dumb people on youtube pretending to be smart and god does it really show in contrast to people who are actually smart

#started watching this new channel that (from their vid titles) mostly react to tiktoks #and i was like hmmm. do i really need to see someone reacting to tiktoks. is this going to be really dumb.#and then in the first five minutes she's talking about veblen's theory of conspicuous consumerism and i was like PHEW #btw i don't just mean people who reference academic theories like that bc dumb people definitely do that too #but 1) if you understand these things you can tell when someone else actually understands them #and 2) it's about the way they formulate an argument and frame their comments that really shows it!!#ie i also enjoy true crime (ik i'm sorry) and there are so many channels that find an account of a case and just basically recount it #and then i found a channel that used various sources and analysed the reliability of each source and i went 👆 TRAINED HISTORIAN #and i was right!#idk there are just so many shitty video essays out there it's really refreshing when u find a channel that is actually smart!!#🧃

one video has completely turned my view of night mind around. I'm not a huge fan of night mind, I'm a fan of horror and mystery. but I'm not smart, so i watch explanation videos so I'm sure I understood 100% of the plot. Night Mind did a great job of this- mostly- with Marble Hornets, EverymanHYBRID, and things like this house has ppl in it, so I've started looking into his videos for more. Things like Chainmail Chasers, POSTcontent, Rapid Eyes, they were all fine videos from him, treated fair and explained well- praise and criticism where it was due. But it's videos like his "case file" or whatever he calls it on the series "JustAcquaintances" that pisses me off. When he started laughing at them in part 2 I couldn't keep watching. It's rude, it's pointless, it's mockery. No explanation or defense at the end of the video can make up for that. JustAcquaintances is what most arg/found footage fans want to be. A fun homemade series with friends, something made with passion and genuine interest- not professional and trained. Marble Hornets is good found footage because it's professional, they knew what they were doing and planned every step months or years ahead. If I'm not wrong, some members of Marble Hornets were in school working on film/acting. Either way, it's professional. JustAcquaintances is an example of well preformed fanwork in the best way possible. Their acting is amazing, a bunch of stupid guys looking for trouble end up in deep shit with the paranormal and a cult. The police, real or fake, time and time again leave them in either deeper shit or the same as before. Now people are dying, being kidnapped, stalking, beating, torturing our protagonist. It's good. It's a good series. It's what I want every found footage fan to create, i want a dozen million fans to go out with their ideas and do this. Because I don't expect every series to be another EverymanHYBRID. I don't want another Marble Hornets. I want raw passion of creativity woven from horrific inspiration. And I've seen the Slenderverse/yt horror community. They are critics, expecting the best, expecting all of the creators effort into these series'. But these are free. They are on Youtube, somewhere that's very famous for not giving creative- esp horror related- projects the attention and monetization they deserve. These are projects filmed by humans for the sake of letting their dark little project out of their heads and onto your screen. They deserve praise, they deserve your attention, they deserve your patience, and they deserve your criticism NICELY. THEY DON'T GET PAID ENOUGH BY THESE VIDEOS FOR YOUR SPONSERED, MONITETIZED, WELL RECEAVED VIDEO TO LAUGH AT THEM. THEY DESERVE TO BE PRAISED FOR THAT SCEEN REALLY, IT LOOKS AND SOUNDS LIKE HE'S REALLY BEING BEATEN BY A BAT, THEY AREN'T HITTING HIM IN THE HEAD OR SPINE, THEY AREN'T HITTING ALL TO HARD, THEY'RE BEATING HIM FOR THE SAKE OF BEATING HIM. AND IT'S WELL PREFORMED. HE'S CONFUSED, HE'S TRYING TO PROTECT HIMSELF AGAINST SOMEONE HE KNOWS KIDNAPPED AND HURT HIS BROTHER. HE'S SCARED. HE ISN'T FIGHTING BACK BECAUSE HE KNOWS HE'S ALONE, DEFENSLESS. HE DOESN'T DESERVE YOUR LAUGHTER. Even if poorly acted, he is on the floor, rolling in dirt, with bugs and germs in a public area, crying and whining, all for your entertainment. Not for money, for you- a supposed fan of found footage- to enjoy his act. He's willing to roll and scream in public, in the dirt, for you to laugh at him. It seems unfair, to do all this and expect nothing in return. JustAcquaintances is a good series, it's not hollywood, it's not professional, but it's exactly the passion I want to see every artist put into their work. It's what I want from anybody that's been inspired by horror or found footage, it's art and I wouldn't ever want them to change it. I'd want them to learn from it. Take what they've created and keep creating- just for the sake of creation. Criticism is necessary for art to prosper, but criticism isn't an hour and a half of copy and pasted footage occasionally interrupted by laughter or high expectations.
