Carlos stares up at the ceiling and wills himself to get out of bed. He really needs to move if he’s going to stop for coffee on the way into work. Which he desperately needs. He barely slept at all last night, thanks to Green Eyes Strand.

Fine, TK, whatever that stands for. Certainly not Terrible Kisser.

“Seriously Reyes, get up,” he tells himself. And then groans. That mouth.

“Oh my god, that was incredible.” TK whispers. He rests the back of his head against the metal divider for a breath and then looks down. “My turn.” He chuckles quietly when Carlos tucks him back in and pulls up the zip. “I got it. Seriously Reyes, get up. I need you in my mouth.”

That was enough to break Carlos of his manners. He sprang up and kissed him hard before they awkwardly switched places in the honky tonk stall.

Carlos swings his legs over the side of the bed and shuffles off to the bathroom. “C’mon, you got this.”

When did you first start watching Lone Star? Who or what introduced you to the show?

I saw a commercial for it during the superbowl in 2020 and wanted a new weekly show to watch so I caught up on the first three episodes in time to watch 1x04 live

Which season is your favorite?

Honestly it’s a toss up between 3 and 4. I think there are more episodes I like in season 3, but tarlos’ storyline in season 4 is so layered and feels a bit more deep and meaningful to me

Who is your favorite character? (Bonus: If you answered TK or Carlos, who is your favorite besides them?)

TK and Carlos are my favorites and it would be impossible to choose between them, but I think my second favorite would be Marjan or Judd

If you could pick any character to be given a "begins" episode, who would it be and what would that episode look like?

Carlos. I think the more we learn about him, the more questions I have. It would be fun to actually see his past and his relationships with his parents and Iris or when or why he decided he wanted to become a police officer and what that conversation looked like with his family. I think there are a lot of things that would parallel nicely with present day.

What is a scenario or storyline that you would like to see in season 5?

I've talked about this a little bit before, but I think it would be tarlos starting off in a good spot at the beginning of the season until something pulls Carlos back into looking for the killer. TK would be involved too, whether that's being threatened or helping Carlos look, with all of it building into this big intense episode with a sweet and sexy relief

What do you think is going on in this still?

It would be fun if they're being threatened by the killer because Carlos is digging too much. I think a more realistic scenario could be someone from AFD or the Rangers calling about a lead in the case

We all know about the elusive 5x05 spicy scene that has been teased, so what is your prediction for how it could possibly top 1x02?

I think it'll be a catharsis of sorts, maybe after a fight or time spent apart. I think it'll be the two of them desperate for each other, knowing the other is safe and they're okay. maybe a parallel to 1x02 except one of them is already home and meets the other at the door. there's a trail of clothes as they kiss their way to their bedroom this time. probably some kind of emotional music and the low light of some lamps. bonus points if they get their pants off before the fade to black

Where was the Tarlos honeymoon in your mind?

I had them go to puerto vallarta in my honeymoon fic, but I could see it being along the gulf too. I know one of them said at a con that they spent it at home and it’s a sweet concept but we literally see them at a pool so sknajdnsjs

I just read this the other day so it's fresh in my mind, but Cause It's Your Life by GoOffCredits (I don't think they're on tumblr) had me hanging onto every word. it's the perfect kind of emotional angst I love

From 1x02 'Yee-Haw' -

as Carlos looks like a deer in headlights living under a rock

Headcanoning that before TK, Carlos wasn't up on many up-to-date movies. He likes old films that are timeless, especially ones shot in Austin, and occasionally enjoys a good classic rom-com (*think Notting Hill). He also doesn't watch much tv. It was wayyyy less before he and TK moved in together, but now he's caught up through House of the Dragon, and he's seen very little of some trash reality tv like Naked and Afraid.

So him suggesting to see A Quiet Place: Day One comes as a shock for TK.

"Babe, you don't even like horror and you fell asleep when we watched Top Gun in the living room."

"What does that validate for your case?"

"There's explosions and a plane crash!"

Carlos is a homebody, but he doesn't watch movies. He's a couch potato, but he's not sat watching tv. Carlos likes nappsssss. 💤

Ok I admit that the next scenes in 1x02 are more of a 😭 than 🥵 type waterworks. But he’s so good. My heart aches as he he works through his grief and I just fall right in love with his marriage.

I’ve swapped his double episode premiere intro for the 1x02 therapy gifs on Thirsty Monday, with the disclaimer that his determined face and jeans fit throughout are hella sexy.

Oh god. Season 1? 😂 I always love the early days of relationship stuff and the Tarlos flirting and nonsense was peak amazing during that time. Season 2 is also pretty up there.

Sorry, here for the Tarlos lol. But probably Tommy or Grace. I love how badass they are and how they take no shit!

Pretty sure it's a lead on Gabriel's murder unfortunately. But could be that Tarlos was about to get it on when Andrea called because she needs help changing a lightbulb and Carlos is like, "Mom, now is NOT a good time." Lol!

As someone who started Lone Star at the tail end of 2022, I remember reading only a handful of early season 1 fics, and most of what I read have been covered by @lemonlyman-dotcom and @thisbuildinghasfeelings posts, but I do have one fic that I think works for the prompt:

A short, canon-compliant fic but an AU in the sense that there is a very different reason for why TK moved down to Austin and it shows that no matter the circumstances and revelations that occur, TK has never felt more right than with Carlos. Soulmates forever and I love that for them!

A More Perfect Fall by @cinnaluminum

This is an excellent fic from Carlos' point of view during the first few episodes of season 1. There are 4 chapters, but chapter 1 in particular fits this week's prompt perfectly. We get right into Carlos' headspace at the honky tonk. I especially love the descriptions of Carlos grappling with his feelings that are leading him to do some things that are a bit out of character for him...like hook up in a public restroom with a guy he just met!

Back to the habit after kicking it by @paperstorm

The first in the missing moments series, this is TK's point of view at the honky tonk. TK is going through A LOT. He's afraid of hurting both Carlos and himself and thinks he should probably just get rid of Carlos' number and never contact him again, for both their sakes...but he's not going to that, of course! What I love most in this one is that, despite all that TK is going through, there's that glimmer of hope for the future, even though TK is fighting it a bit as he attempts to protect his bruised and battered heart.

I will round out my recs with a fic that provides BOTH Carlos and TK's POVs at the honky tonk! It's a quick read, but in my opinion, it's a MUST READ!
