"It can't be true, Louis... It can't be true." Harry kept talking, his voice shaking, his eyes pleading.

Louis deflated like a balloon as Harry's pheromones hit him full force, sensing his utter distress.

"I... I'm sorry..." He whispered, really sorry.

"Louis you can't have been ready for that!" Harry urged him.

"I... Yes... Yes, I was... I... I couldn't stand the others. I... I knew... I agreed..."

"But why... Why the fuck why?!" Harry cried, tears finally overflowing.

"Because... Because everything... Everything in me loves you, everything in me loves everything about you. And... And… I had... Made this choice... It was this, you, or nothing. And without you... Without you it wasn't worth it..."

"Fuck... Fuck, Louis, don't ever dare to say that again. Never again." Harry began to cry. "You can't... YOU CAN'T! I can't, not without you! Never without you! What would we have done without you! Me and Ash! What the fuck would we have done?!” Harry suddenly became annoyed, coming very close. Too close, his face inches from Louis', eyes literally black, not even darker green, no, no, totally black.

"Harry," Louis breathed, his heart racing, not really sure if it was fear, emotion or excitement.

"I will never, ever let you die. FUCK! NEVER! YOU HEAR ME?!" Harry roared, slamming both hands against the wall around Louis' head. "You're mine! YOU'RE FUCKING MINE! And I take care of what's mine, Louis. NEVER... I would never have let that happen. One day, if one day I'd been called because you were dying in a hospital bed because you weren't bonded, I'd have fucking forcibly bonded you." Harry shouted, then squeaked, his eyes locked in Louis's, furious.

And…

Well, all right. Maybe Louis was slightly turned on by Harry's new wild side.

It was doing things to him.

Like, maybe he started to feel his slick coming…

He nodded in agreement, not really wanting to upset the alpha any more than he already was.

"Say it. Say you're mine," Harry ordered.

"I... I'm yours... Oh fuck... I'm yours, yours, Harry. Alpha..." Louis stammered, his heart soaring like he was a hummingbird, the relief of this realisation coursing through his veins and leaving him mind blown.

"Fucking right. That's right!" The alpha nodded decisively.

Then Harry kissed him. He started hard, as before, but soon his lips softened, caressing Louis' ever more slowly and Louis melted against the warmth of his alpha, immediately forgetting what they were talking about.

Harry was really careful, paying attention to every touch of his lips against the omega's, gently opening his mouth in a silent invitation for more, which Louis gladly accepted, tasting Harry at last.

It was bright; that was the first thing Louis could recall. With a groan, he winced at the throbbing behind the sockets of his eyes and rubbed his temples in an effort to soothe the pain. Maybe he really did hit his head when he took his tumble. The omega squinted as he looked at the surrounding rolling hills and fog hanging over the countryside. As strange as it was, the world felt different, though it looked practically the same.

Disoriented and confused, Louis padded through the moss and listened for his husband. “Liam?” he croaked shakily. Nothing but a symphony of woodland creatures met his ears. His footsteps were muted by mossy green grass beneath his feet and soil fragrant as he neared the crest of the hill. At the top, he froze, lips parted in horror and eyes widening at the expanse of empty farmland—not a soul in sight. It had only been less than ten minutes prior that he could see Inverness from the crest, but now there was nothing.

“Impossible,” he whispered to himself, shaking his head in disbelief—his mind not quite able to make sense of it.

Reviewing my 2023 Writing Goals

I made a goals list in January of 2023, and now it’s time to look them over and see what I accomplished!

1. Sprint more - I’ve been sprinting a lot more in the @1d-library discord, and I’ve had a lot of fun with my friends there, who always encourage and support me! I almost always think to see if anyone wants to sprint when I am in the mood to write, and I think it’s helped!

2. Write a sequel - This was on my goals list two years in a row, and I actually did it for 2023! I knew for a while that I wanted to add another part to my threesome fic (Even If It’s Only For Tonight) and for the Zouis Fest, I wrote It’s Alright If It Makes You Feel Alive. I’m so happy with how it came out!

3. Join a new fest - I participated in a few different fests this year! One that I loved was the Title/Trope Fest, for which I wrote Lick the Knife. It was so different for me, and I loved the end result.

4. Finish my intersex ABO WIP - I actually didn’t work on this fic at all this year, but that’s okay! I haven’t had ideas for it, but who knows what the future holds!

5. Experiment with writing new kinks/smut content - I definitely did this a lot this year! I played around with canon inspired smut in my Center Stage Whore series, which was lots of fun! Some new kinks that I wrote about include religion, ageplay, sweat, and several fics with hand content!

6. Share a fic with a friend - Oh boy, did I do this one. Not only did I start sharing some of my fics with my IRL best friend, but I even let someone read my infamous waffle fic out loud to a group of my friends! They were definitely not ready for it 😂 But my best friend has been very supportive and encouraging of my works!

7. Run a Fest - In 2023 I started a new fest @1d-oneliner-fest, and I enjoyed it! I also brought back @1dsongfest for a second round, which is currently open! I’m still not the best at modding fests, but people join them hahaha.

8. Write at least one fic without smut - Surprisingly, I wrote four mini fics without smut. It was still a struggle for me, and it felt totally weird to do. Three of the fics were for Wordplay, and I’m ehhh about how they came out lol. The fourth fic is my favorite nonsmut fic of the year, she bit someone. It was super short for the Trick or Treat Fest, but maybe I’ll continue more in that universe in the future!

Honorable mention: this was not a set goal until the very end of the year, but I posted 30 fics in 2023! Very proud of being able to reach that number ☺️

Overall, I think I did really well this year! Couldn’t have done it without all my amazing friends and readers!

Harry stood on his doorstep, waving a little as he shuffled his feet. “Hi, I brought you some cookies.”

Louis finally realized Harry was holding a plate with at least a dozen chocolate chip cookies.

“How’d you know chocolate chip was my favorite?”

Harry scrunched his nose. “I, uh, they’re actually peanut butter chocolate chunk, so I really hope you don’t have a peanut allergy. There’s a lot of peanut butter and chocolate in these. But also, I just hoped that was something you liked because I actually have a favor to ask?”

When Louis' alpha neighbor asks him to pretend to be his omega for a week, Louis immediately says no. He has too much he's dealing with on his own, and he swore to himself he'd never get that close to an alpha again. Unable to hold to that resolve once guilt sets in, Louis finds that maybe fumbling his way through a fake relationship for a week was exactly what he needed to finally be able to move on.

The full moon was hiding behind dark clouds on that night, filling the air with something sinister. Harry lived that evening like an out of body experience, as if it hadn't happened to him. Because something horrifying like that can happen only to fictional characters and people from old-wives tales, not to actual breathing people. Or so he thought.

Everything that happened after nightfall seemed surreal, and he couldn't put his finger on where it went off the track. Probably sometime during the train ride back to Holmes Chapel after a long, exhausting week of university classes.

Or the one where Louis saves Harry's life by biting him, but the younger man has to pay the price for it.

This is a lil snippet from my upcoming abo fic for @1dchristmasfest 🥰

“You can just pick any out from my spotify, my phone’s got no password so you’re good,” Harry informed him. He heard a gasp coming from his left.

“You heathen!! What kind of a person doesn’t have a password or lock of some sort on their phone? Should I be scared, like??”

Harry grinned at the ribbing. “I haven’t got anything to hide!” That and he didn’t think he was interesting enough to have anything worth keeping locked away from prying eyes. His life was plain like that, and he tried not to wallow in that too often. “What are you hiding then, Louis?” he asked, turning it on Louis.

“Everyone has a locked phone, Harry, I’m not hiding anything!!” Louis retorted, voice high pitched. Interesting. Harry didn’t have to wonder for long because Louis was then mumbling, “search history…..some photos.”

Harry frowned. Photos? What, why even….oh. No. Surely not what he was thinking of.

Louis could have meant any photos. Louis could have meant ANY photos.

Throat dry, he willed himself to think of literally anything else before he rushed head first down that road.

4. honestly, i’ve read wonderful fics from many talented authors in this fandom that have inspired me !! i’ve also been lucky enough to befriend some of them & receive their help w some of my fics. but i’m gonna cheat & name a few more than 3 lol oops.

@zanniscaramouche —— zanni knows how much her writing has influenced me, but her ability to keep scenes going, go from one character’s action to the next character’s action and/or dialogue so seamlessly, perfectly describe how & why an action made a character feel the way it did, etc just brings her writing to life so wonderfully. i’ve been lucky enough to have her beta quite a few of my fics that included smut as well, bless her soul, because her talent when it comes to smut, dirty talk, etc is superb. having her influence in my smut has made it what it is today, 100%.

@thedevilinmybrain —— the way jen writes emotions so viscerally & describes things in a way that even if you’ve never seen an item, action, and/or place before, you can still picture it in your head clearly is so admirable. you feel every emotion the character feels. you see exactly what the character sees. i’m obsessed w the way she portrays louis & harry’s dynamic in each fic —— it’s always similar but different. keeps you on your toes but you know it’s gonna be a good time. that’s how i aspire to write larry’s relationship in my fics lol. her writing is so captivating & phenomenal.

@loveislarryislove — long story short, annika & i have this obsession with touches & yearning doing so much for a scene, an emotion, a character, etc. touches are everything!!! i read her bodyguard fic & was obsessed before we even became friends & it showed me that you can depict so much lust, love, angst, happiness, etc in a scene that isn’t even that intense physically. bless annika’s soul for betaing my fics, too lol.

@2tiedships2 & @londonfoginacup for the same reasons —— the way they incorporate humor into their dialogue and internal monologue???? unmatched!!!! i’ve always wanted to be a writer who can incorporate humor into a fic seamlessly that is funny to people besides me and reading endless amounts of their fics & talking to them as well has definitely helped me mucho. their writing has also helped me learn that it’s okay to bend some sentence structure rules for creative reasons & i can confirm, my writing has only benefited from it.

9. kind of? i try to stay flexible with myself if i can though. like if i finish a fic a day or three after the deadline i’ve set myself, then i’m not gonna berate myself for it. i do have a schedule for my cinderella au fic tho; that has a deadline of publishing one chapter a week!

15. i hope im answering this right when i answer this based on what universe i think is the hardest to write lol —— for me, it’s omegaverse. i was just talking about this w some people in the 1d library actually lol. i love reading abo fics but im just not sure if i could take myself seriously writing the words “slick” or “knot” or whatever. i get too self aware and in my head about it. i have so much admiration for writers who write many abo fics, i wish i could do what they do. i’ve been thinking about signing up for the abo fic fest to kind of get myself over that hurdle, but we’ll see.
