In November 2013 Malaysian megafraudster Jho Low used one of the hundreds of millions of dollars he diverted from a Goldman Sachs bond offering to buy Andy Warhol's Round Jackie (1964), at Sotheby's. He then gave it to Swizz Beatz, who turned it over to the Feds in 2020, who auctioned it off in 2021.

Başarılı olmak istememin tek nedeni O.Düştüğümde her defasında ayağa kalkmamın nedeni O.

Task 2
In this legal analysis, the Communications and Multimedia Act of Malaysia (the Act) for its compliance international human rights standards, in particular those on the right to freedom of expression. This concerned that the Act has been invoked frequently in the recent years to restrict active social media usage in Malaysia. It has been used by law enforcement agencies and the Attorney General of Malaysia to arrest, investigate and charge individuals expressing progressive or dissenting views. At present, a constitutional challenge is being mounted against the Act at the Federal Court. The Act is not the only piece of legislation that is invoked to suppress freedom of expression in Malaysia, in particular online; other laws include the Sedition Act 1948, S114A of the Evidence Act 1950 and the Film Censorship Act 2002. Often, charges are brought jointly under several laws simultaneously. The most prominent cases of prosecutions are lots, but here I would like to focus to a real issue.
• Case of Khalid Ismath who was arrested under Section 233 of the Act in October 2015 for allegedly posting a comment on Facebook. He was charged with 11 alleged offences under the Act and three more charges under the Sedition Act for the same offences. Khalid was subject to several bail conditions including a requirement to report to the nearest police station every 2 weeks, a ban on travel outside of the country and his passport was confiscated by the court. On 29 October Khalid Mohd Ismath was released on bail.
On 13 October 2015, human rights defender Mr Khalid Mohd Ismath was charged with 14 alleged violations for posting ‘offensive’ comments on social media. He is being held in detention since 7 October 2015. Khalid Mohd Ismath has organised several public forums focussing mainly on freedom of expression and religion. For several years he has been actively participating in social protests and using social media to highlight cases of human rights violations and the misuse of power by the enforcement authorities. In 2012, he was arrested several times as a result of his involvement with the Bersih 3.0 rally, which was calling for reforms within the electoral system in Malaysia in order to ensure free and fair elections. It was reported that prior to the Court session police officers tried to coerce his confession by offering Khalid Ismath a chance to speak to his family if he confessed to the alleged crimes. However, the human rights defender pleaded not guilty in all 14 charges. His application for bail was rejected due to alleged risk of Ismath’s absconding. On 9 October 2015, the human rights defender was re-arrested at the end of his three-day remand period at the remand centre in Johor Bharu Selatan. Following his original arrest on 7 October 2015, he was due to be released on 9 October. However, he was kept in detention under the Malaysian Sedition Act (1948). The detention order was issued on the request of police officers who accused him of insulting the Royal Family and the police force through allegedly ‘offensive’ comments on social media in which he had referred to the practice of abuse of power by the police forces.
He was accused of violating the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Act (1998). The police officers confiscated his mobile phone and computer. During his detention, colleagues posted messages of support from his Twitter account.
Conclusion, In February 2016, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) used its powers for the first time to blanket block websites that published content related to Malaysia’s 1MDB scandal. On 25 February 2016, popular online news portal, The ready to provide further assistance in this process. Malaysian Insider (TMI) was blocked by the government. Further, blocking of news sites, like Sarawak Report and Asia Sentinel; the on-going intimidation and lawsuits against media such as Malaysiakini; and the arrest and deportation of two Australian Broadcasting Corporation journalists are part of a worsening crackdown on media freedom. This was also seen during the recent Sarawak state election with the barring of a foreign journalist from UK Channel 4 News, from a post-election press conference attended by the prime minister.

Pras Michel admits receiving $20 million from businessman who wanted picture with President Obama
Fugees star, Prakazrel "Pras Michel”, testified defense on Tuesday, April 18, that he received $20 million from Malaysian financier Jho Low to help him get a photo with former President Barack Obama. The rapper faces criminal conspiracy, foreign lobbying and campaign finance charges for allegedly plotting with Low to attempt to influence the administrations of Obama and former President Donald Trump. Before a jury in Washington, the Grammy winner said Low, who is now a fugitive accused of embezzling $4.5 billion from Malaysia's 1MDB sovereign wealth fund, did not direct him to make campaign donations with the money for the photo. “After consulting with my attorneys and the universe, I have decided to testify," Michel told the court Tuesday before answering questions from his defense team and prosecutors alike about the approximately $800,000 he said he paid to friends so they could donate to a political campaign. Prosecutors allege the Grammy-winning artist immersed himself in American politics at the behest of the wealthy Malaysian financier to gain access, peddle influence, and make money. He was indicted in 2019 on federal charges that Low Taek Jho, also known as Jho Low, paid him millions to help launder money Low had allegedly embezzled from a state-owned investment fund in his home country. Testifying in court on April 18, Michel said he used some of the funds for three friends to attend $40,000-a-plate fundraisers for Obama. Michel said he did not know it was improper to do this. "When you received the money from Jho Low, you used it to make political contributions," federal prosecutor John Keller said in a Washington court. "No," Michel responded at the trial. "Once he gave me the money, it was my discretion how I spent the money because it's my money." He described the funds from Low as "free money." It is illegal for foreigners to donate to U.S. election campaigns, and it is also against the law to pay someone else to make a campaign contribution. Pras Michel is accused of involvement with Low in three schemes, for which prosecutors say he was paid millions of dollars. In the first, prosecutors claim that Michel violated federal election laws by funneling about $2 million from Low into Obama's 2012 campaign coffers and masking the source of the funds by using straw donors. Michel is also accused of seeking to convince the Trump-era Justice Department to drop its civil and criminal investigations into Low over the 1MDB scandal, and trying to lobby the U.S. on behalf of China to send Chinese businessman Guo Wengui to China.
