Hen’s about to answer him when Bobby appears on his other side. “That’s Eddie Diaz, our new recruit.”

Buck’s brain does some approximation of a record scratch and he whirls around to face Bobby. “New recruit? Why?”

In which Eddie joins the 118 during season 1 instead of season 2 and Buck has a lot to say about it. AKA Eddie meets Buck 1.0.

Notes: This is a nice two chapter ‘what if’ fic, that features Buck very openly flirting with Eddie. There is subtle flirting (and some not too subtle flirting, ahem, s3 kitchen scene I’m looking at you) in the show, but reading this made me realize how badly I want these two to openly and loudly flirt with each other all the time. Also, the tags say slow burn, but I’d say it’s a fairly quick slow burn, at least in my opinion. And I kinda like that sort of change in pace sometimes, especially considering that Buck and Eddie can pull off quick and slow (remember when they speed ran enemies to best friends in the first half of an episode?). Plus, this is by allyasavedtheday who has a lot of great Buddie fics (I recommended checking out their page on ao3).
