This is the 62nd post in the Ace Attorney Investigations Collection Countdown: 19 days left until release!

Today's topic: the Pre-Order Bonus Trailer for the Investigations Collection!

Another post, another new trailer for the Investigations Collection! We're really getting spoiled here! And I love them all, keep them coming! This time Miles and Gumshoe talk about the pre-order bonus that comes with the collection. I always love it when characters from a game talk about their own game that they're a part of, it's so wonderfully meta. Like the games are just an adaption of their real adventures and they're judging how well they've been represented. So much potential!

The conversation starts with Miles contemplating that he should soon put in the pre-order for his own collection. (You haven't done that yet? Shame on you, Miles!) Gumshoe assures him that there's no rush since you can buy it whenever you want. Miles corrects him (rather confidently) with information about the pre-order bonus, the 5 arranged tracks from I2 you get, and Gumshoe, shocked, immediately runs off to buy the collection before Miles can stop him. He ponders to himself that Gumshoe hopefully knows you can't directly buy the pre-order bonus right now and then says (out loud!) with a grin that he can't really fault him for wanting to see him (Miles) in action so badly.

Once again a wonderfully precious interaction between the two! Of course Miles would know all the information about his own collection and Gumshoe isn't fully in the loop. I love how Miles appreciates his enthusiasm though! It's also praise for himself, sure, but he seems to be flattered that Gumshoe is so excited about the release of his collection (and doesn't want to miss the bonus content). Considering how often he's impressed by and in awe of Miles' deductions during the Investigations games this fits their dynamic perfectly and it's kinda cute to imagine Gumshoe playing or watching a recreation of the cases they solved together and being amazed by Miles all over again. You'd think Miles would be annoyed by this and he does react confused about it sometimes but other than that he's just flattered and even enjoys Gumshoe's praise when it doesn't interfere with a current task. This even goes into their relationship arc in I2 with Miles sort of taking Gumshoe's unwavering support for granted and realizing how much he truly relies on and needs him. It's a wonderful progression and I always love the contrast of Gumshoe's overflowing enthusiasm with Miles' calm rationality in their dynamic. It's one of the things that makes them such a perfect fit and an amazing team.

Now I'm thinking about the entire main cast of the Investigations games buying (or pre-ordering) the collection 😄 Few of them would probably be as excited about seeing Miles specifically in action as Gumshoe is here but I can only too well imagine their reactions to the parts they didn't see directly and the shenanigans Miles got up to in them. Now that's some interactions I want to see!

There are good things in this world still

Today, a spiny flower mantis ate dinner on my hand while we watched a medical drama together.

Today a quail escaped my hands and I had to move a lot of furniture to get him back. This seems like a bad thing but it gave me the opportunity to clean in a lot of places I wouldn't normally reach day to day, and I feel cleaner for it.

Today, I added photos of birds to a website I recently took management of, and I got to see a bird I had never seen before!

Barbara was working the closing shift at the library. She was putting some books away when she overheard a conversation.

“Do you know when mom and dad are going to pick us up?” said what sounded like a teenage boy.

“No, I– Oh, wait they just messaged me.” said what Barbara thought was a slightly older teen girl.

Silence.

“Jazz?

“They left.”

“What?”

“Someone posted about a possible sighting in Metropolis. They said they’ll be there for a few days.”

There was more silence. Barbara stayed quiet.

“So, they left us behind.”

“Yeah.”

“Again.”

“...Yeah.”

Barbara closed her eyes, thinking of Tim and how he had been left home alone so much. And these kids… their parents had abandoned them too.

“Well at least we’re not helpless.”

“I hate them.”

“Jazz–”

“No, Danny. I hate them. They’re supposed to be our parents. They’re supposed to take care of us.”

“I know. They always chose something else over us. Why aren’t we enough, Jazz?”

“I don’t know.” she sniffled.

“Jazz, hey, look at me. We’ll be okay.”

“I'm sorry, Danny. I'm just so tired.”

“I am too.”

Barbara was about to speak up when they continued.

“At least i have a credit card this time so it won’t be like the time they forgot is in Bridgton.”

“Yeah, that sucked. We were lucky we were able to sneak onto that semi.”

“Well, tonight we can get a hotel room and then get bus tickets tomorrow.

“I could just... you know. Do my thing.”

“I guess, but we should at least get a hotel for tonight. I don’t want to try traveling while you’re exhausted.”

“That’s fair. But–”

Barbara finally decided she should make her presence known. She cleared her throat as she made her way around the bookshelf.

The two teens startle. They looked like siblings. The girl was a redhead with teal eyes, and the boy had black hair and blue eyes.

“Hello, I’m Barbara. I work here at the library. I’m sorry, but I couldn’t help overhearing your conversation.” she paused as the siblings glanced at each other, the boy reaching over to grab his sister’s arm. 

“What do you mean?” asked the girl, Jazz, if Barbara was correct.

“You need a place to stay tonight? It’ll be hard to find a good hotel at this hour. I’ve got an extra bedroom at my apartment, and you’re welcome to stay the night. You won’t owe me anything.”

“Why?” asked the boy, Danny.”

Barbara considered for a moment. “I have a friend who went through a similar situation as you guys, so I’m familiar with what it's like to have your parents be too busy. And you wouldn’t be the first kids I've let stay the night. I can help you find bus tickets in the morning. I’m familiar with most of the routes and can let you know which ones are the safest and quickest.”

The girl glanced at her brother, who stared at Barbara. There was a moment where his eyes seemed to glow and Barabar felt as if he were really looking at her. She suppressed a shudder at the intense feeling. 

Then he turned to his sister and nodded.

“That’s very kind of you. Thank you. I’m Jazz and this is Danny.”

“It’s nice to meet you both. I have to finish locking up so I’ll meet you by the door.”

They nodded and started gathering their stuff.

Barbara went to finish the rest of the closing shift duties. 

She also had a call to make.

I don't want to say this but the recent chapters and the continuation of them as adults feel like a goodbye

MGS not only fed everyone, but also gave HT the opportunity to try that beef stew according to his personal recipe. It was this food that Tian asked for when the boys were just starting to communicate with each other (spoiler: then no one ate, it burned)

But now the dish is cooked on its own and with love.

I have a love-hate relationship with being a fic writer sometimes… on one hand, I’ll have an idea and I’ll love writing it and I’ll love the responses I get when I post it, but then on the other hand I’ll end up with new ideas which means new wips and a lot of older unfinished wips that I committed to but don’t really enjoy writing anymore.

Like I have so many new things that I’ve started about adult bkdk that I wanna post but at the same time I have three unfinished ongoing fics that I’m bored of writing and I don’t wanna post new stuff until I finish the old stuff UGH. You see my dilemma??

These are from chapter 170 which were released in June 2016 according to this beautiful summary from @geoviki​ (many many thanks to you for making it <3). 

Now, please correct me if i am wrong, but according to the assumed timeline in the summary, Tian threatening Mo happens about 25 days before the kiss in chapter 407.

And I can’t decide which is more wild, the character and relationship development within the 25 in-story-days or the fact that the entire timeline of 19 days is like 4 weeks in the story, while for the readers 8 years have passed since the first chapter.

I miss the times when zhanyi had moments like this:

I mean...tianshan is my favourite ship right now but years ago, I started reading 19 days because of zhanyi.

After re reading the comic for n'th times, I can see after jian yi's confession their development got slower and then story focused mostly on tianshan. But I feel like zhanyi's development has come to full stop right now :( they haven't got any emotional or significant moment for a long time, they're like background characters to tianshan's story.

I mean yeah, years go old xian made a good decision to focus and develop tianshan's relationship because zhanyi were light years ahead of them, and zhanyi were finally got to some points, jian yi confessed and zheng xi accepted jian yi's feeling for him and after that zheng xi seemed to develop some romantic feelings for jian yi but oh well. We never saw anything after that (also I'm not happy with the way old xian is going with zheng xi's character, it seems like he doesn't have any character out of jian yi anymore and he doesn't have any close relationship or significant interaction with he tian or mo like jian yi does,it's like his purpose of existence is only because of jian yi, I could go on but that's literally a different topic)

I know they are together in future, in Christmas chapters they seem to be living together, but their development has been so dry that I keep questioning myself how old xian is gonna make them a thing.

I can only hope for old xian to take a look at them and be like: oh yeah they're the main couple I need to start focusing on them too!

after tianshan officially became canon, I thought that old xian is gonna give zhanyi some major development to move their relationship from sided love to mutual feelings but it doesn't seem we're going back to zhanyi anytime soon. I believe zheng xi is in love with jian yi already"I'll go wherever you go" was his way of telling it, or jian yi's "no matter what happens, don't ever leave me". I wish we saw their reactions to these indirect love confessions.
