• Battle of Damascus
The Battle of Damascus was a battle between Allied Forced and Vichy French forced and was the final action of the Allied advance on Damascus in Syria during the Syria–Lebanon campaign in World War II.
On June 8th, 1941, troops of the 5th Indian Infantry Brigade Group had crossed the Syrian border from the British Mandate of Palestine to take Quneitra and Deraa with the objective of opening the way for the forces of the 1st Free French Division to advance along the roads from these towns to Damascus. This was one of four attacks planned for the campaign by the Allied commander, General Sir Henry Wilson. Gentforce had been under the temporary command of the commander of the 5th Indian Infantry Brigade, Brigadier Wilfrid Lloyd, since 12 June when Legentilhomme had been wounded. The plan called for the troops of 5th Indian Brigade to advance northwards from their positions at Artouz on the Quneitra–Damascus road across country west of the road towards Mezzeh. Mezzeh was a large village on a junction with the Beirut to Damascus road, some three miles west of Damascus itself. The brigade's supplies, ammunition and the anti-tank element would follow closely behind on the road proper. Meanwhile, the Free French forces would advance along the Kissoué – Damascus road to capture Qadim as a preliminary to entering the Syrian capital, some four miles further north. On June 18th, the Indian troops set out and skirmished their way north. They reached Mezzeh at 04:15. By 05:30, after an hour of fierce hand-to-hand fighting, Mezzeh was captured. However, there was a major problem: the equipment and anti-tank guns travelling up the main road had earlier got ahead of the infantry and run into a Vichy roadblock where most of the vehicles were knocked out. Furthermore, the planned advance by the Free French to Qadim had been delayed, allowing the Vichy defenders to concentrate on the Mezzeh action, putting intense pressure on the Allied position whilst thwarting any attempt to relieve them and bring in vitally needed anti-tank weapons.
On June 19th, Major General John Evetts, commander of the British 6th Infantry Division, arrived to relieve Lloyd and take control of the Allied forces east of Merdjayoun. With the losses suffered by the Indian brigade, he requested that the British 16th Infantry Brigade be detached from the 7th Australian Division and sent to his sector. Three Australian battalions were also detached to Evetts' command: the 2/3rd Machine Gun Battalion and the 2/3rd and 2/5th Infantry Battalions. By nightfall on 19 June, the Allied position at Mezzeh was desperate. Ammunition was running low, no food had been eaten for 24 hours, casualties were severe, and medical supplies were exhausted. During the night (when Vichy attacks were suspended), three men managed to reach Gentforce headquarters with the news of the position in Mezzeh. Early on June 20th, Brigadier Lloyd, having handed over to Evetts, resumed command of the 5th Indian Brigade and sent a force comprising two companies from the 3/1st Punjab Regiment, two companies of French Marines and a battery of artillery to fight its way through to Mezzeh. But they could not blast a way through and they progressed only slowly against determined opposition from French tanks. A Free French attack on Qadim the previous night had failed expensively, so that they were unable to exert pressure on Qadim that morning to draw Vichy forces away from Mezzeh. That night, however, the Free French with support from British anti-tank and anti-aircraft guns and an Australian machine-gun battalion, advanced against light Vichy defences and captured Qadim by the morning of the 21st.
Throughout the evening of June 20-21st, the Australians fought several actions, attacking a series of stone forts overlooking the Mezzeh and the Quneitra road. Elsewhere, a company of Australians attempted to move around the left flank of the Vichy defenders to cut the road running north-west to Beirut and establish a road block in the Barada Gorge. A see-sawing action took place amongst the forts, during which a force of 59 Australians was briefly captured, before a counter-attack early on June 21st freed them and retook the forts. Meanwhile, a 12-hour defensive action held the Barada Gorge to the west, turning back several French attacks that included tanks and armoured cars. During the morning of June 21st, the Australians consolidated their positions around the forts, and in the Barada Gorge and around 11:00, the Vichy French garrison in Damascus surrendered. By noon, the Allied forces were in Damascus and the Vichy forces were retreating west along the Beirut road. With the fall of Damascus, Gentforce accomplished its primary goal. Elsewhere, fighting around Merdjayoun continued until June 24th, when Allied forces eventually captured the town. The fighting between the Vichy forces and the Allies continued throughout the month. Further actions included fighting around Damour and the capture of Beirut.

🌟 The fun thing about clone battalions having assigned numbers is that there's (usually) a calendar date to match them. I've decided to shower some attention on our favorite clone battalions this year by writing a little something-something for them on their corresponding dates 💜
Though this may not be popular, I'm starting off with my OC clone unit: the 116th Battalion. I've mentioned them a few times in The Sniper & the Medic and in anon conversations about OCs. I've been wanting to put more of them onto paper, so to speak, and January 16th gives me a fun excuse to do so!
OCs: 116th & Joan Vo | 1.4k words
Content: references to blood and death
The 116th
"Prepare to jump." Commander Crowe's voice echoed around the bridge and his men immediately fell into position, quietly and efficiently. Like a well-oiled machine. Crowe may have been known to sport hairy legs and flip-flops on his days off, but his authority was not to be messed with while on duty. There'd be time enough for everyone to have their personalities later, after the mission was over.
"Coordinates set for -401.72, -561.84, 004.32," confirmed the battalion pilot, R.J.
"Ready to jump into hyperspeed, on your command," nodded R.J.'s co-pilot, Diver.
Crowe let a brief, dramatic moment pass before saying, "Jump." It was his favorite thing to do, though he'd never admit it to a soul.
Stars stretched into dazzling streaks across the viewport as the Valiant cut through them. They'd have about an hour before reaching the rest of the battalion stationed outside of Batuu. The data they'd recovered from a grounded CIS craft on Malastare could then be transmitted back to Coruscant for further analysis.
But the data chip wasn't the only thing they'd be bringing back with them. Crowe couldn't help but glance over at the young woman who sat in one of the tactician chairs, clothes stained with the blood of its previous owner. The shiny, Brig, hadn't even been in the role two full rotations before getting blown to smithereens. Crowe blamed himself for not checking for booby traps on that CIS cruiser before sending the young hotshot in. And this woman blamed herself for not being able to stitch him back together in time.
"What do you make of her?"
A soft voice came up beside him, Jedi General Rhee. Crowe grunted in acknowledgement.
"She's alright," he responded, not wanting to commit to an opinion one way or the other. Not yet.
She was not the first stray they'd picked up. Far from it. No matter where they went, on a mission, in the thick of a battlefield, even on R&R, they always seemed to attract whatever sad, lost, and lonely being was around, from Tookas to orphans to escaped slaves. They'd shelter the poor things for a bit and then help them find a home elsewhere. Though Crowe was pretty sure there was still a porg being secretly kept on one of the other ships.
This woman, Joan Vo, was a little different. For one, she hadn't begged to come aboard. Hadn't tried to strike any deals or use the sad puppy in the rain tactic that others had done. No, she simply stated it. Demanded it, even. And for another, she seemed equally determined to stay. Become part of the crew. Crowe wasn't sure what the legalities were with such a thing. The Republic would get their fair share of civilian volunteers, but they were often in administrative or training roles, not as an active combat medic.
All that to say, Crowe didn't know what to make of her. And he wasn't about to get attached to something he didn't understand.
"She has heart," Rhee was saying. The Jedi's gentle voice just barely managed to recapture Crowe's attention from his confused thoughts. "The boys need some of that, after all the hell they've been through these past few cycles."
Crowe only grunted again. He supposed he was right. They'd been on very punishing back-to-back missions that had lost more brothers than expected. Though he wasn't sure what this lady would be able to do about it. There were things not even a doctor could heal.
She seemed to sense they were looking at her. She promptly rose from the chair and came over.
"Dr. Vo." Rhee extended his hand, not having been properly introduced yet.
"Please, call me Joan," she said, taking his hand. Her voice was low and raspy, as if she'd been shouting all day. Which, Crowe knew, she had not. She had remained calmed and assertive throughout all the horrors they'd faced on that cruiser.
"And you may call me Rhee," smiled the Jedi. The 116th was very loose with their names, rarely ever using titles unless they were around other units or Republic leaders. Even then, Rhee insisted on being called General Rhee as his last name was far too difficult to pronounce for most.
"I understand you wish to join the battalion," Rhee continued as they dropped hands. "We would be honored to have such a courageous spirit among our ranks."
"We already have a medical team." A new voice joined the little circle they'd created at the back of the bridge. Captain Civic, Crowe's righthand. The solider was opposite to Crowe in every way, which was saying something considering that Crowe himself had quite a dueling personality. Where Crowe had a laidback, "live-and-let-live" demeanor in his downtime, Civic was much more concerned with the status quo and all the "shoulds" and "should nots" that came with it. But on a battlefield, Crowe held his ground while Civic improvised. Crowe was competitive; Civic was civil.
The list could keep running on, but despite all the differences, the two brothers were tight-knit, leading their men in a united effort. There was only one other clone whom Crowe was so completely bonded with, but they were assigned different battalions. Civic was his true brother in arms.
Joan didn't seem put off by Civic and his disapproval suddenly showing up to the conversation. "But you didn't bring them with you today," she countered. She crossed her arms over her chest, not-so-subtly drawing attention to the fact there was still blood all over it.
"They were needed elsewhere," Civic responded cooly.
"And I'm not. I am an additional resource."
Civic already had his mouth open for another retort but Rhee wisely stepped in before things got out of hand.
"And we are very grateful for your generosity," he said with another kind smile. "Now, it will be some time before we join the rest of the fleet. Allow me to show you to refreshers so you can get cleaned up. Civic will make sure a room gets prepared for your stay as well."
The Jedi gave the Captain a knowing look as he ushered Joan to walk away with him.
Civic waited until the two got out of sight before letting out a frustrated huff.
"Don't know what you're so upset about," Crowe chuckled lowly. "She doesn't strike me as the type to steal your socks."
He was referring to a pretty Twi'lek girl they'd once rescued from a nasty old Baron. All the boys had been smitten with her, until they realized she'd been stealing odd things from them all.
Civic's mouth only deepened in its frown. "I'd rather deal with petty theft."
"Than what?"
"Exactly. We don't know what this chick's MO is. What civvy in their right mind would demand to work with the GAR on the frontlines? She's either crazy, or she's up to something."
Crowe agreed that it was odd, and that he didn't like not understanding what this woman was about. But so revealed another difference between him and Civic. To him, this was an intriguing mystery that needed to play itself out. He was content to simply keep an eye on her and nothing else.
Civic, on the other hand, was lining her up in his scope, ready to fire at the first sign of maliciousness. Crowe almost felt sorry for the girl, if he didn't believe she could handle it. Of the few things he knew about Joan so far, she wasn't phased by much.
"Well, like it or not, she's here to stay," he clapped him on the shoulder. "We'll just have to make do."
Crowe hid a smile as his words predictably got Civic all worked up.
"Make do? Make do?" The poor clone was practically hyperventilating at such a notion. "What if she's plotting to overtake control of the fleet, use our forces against the rest of the garrison? What if she kills us in our sleep? Or what if she's just crazy and still kills us in our sleep?"
Crowe just shook his head and left Civic standing on the bridge with more of his what-if scenarios. Only time would tell what Dr. Joan Vo was up to. In the meantime, Crowe needed a shower. He'd just realized that he, too, was still covered in the blood of their fallen brother.

Clone Wars + Bad Batch Headcanons
(That I also use in writing)
It's been a while since a headcanon post so here we go
Clone troopers were generally physically affectionate. Hugs, nudges, and hanging off each other constantly.
Most jedi padawans are used to sleeping in groups and constantly rough housing with their crechmates from their time in the crèche so it isn't uncommon for them to be found physically engaging with their troopers (especially in cuddle piles)
All clone troopers are powerful swimmers
Echo and Wrecker hate water because they both have a harder time with swimming. Due to Wrecker's mutation he has a high amount of muscle mass and a very low amount of body fat, meaning he sinks in water. Echo weighs a lot more then he's used to with his metal cybernetics, as well as missing some vital limbs it makes swimming very difficult
Clone troopers picked up mando'a from their trainers, but bastardized it due to their lack of proper language training and the conditions they were raised in
Each battalion has their own even more bastardized version usually mixing in languages their Jedi general speak
Ahsoka loves playing with hair and that is a very specific weakness all clone troopers have. Fives always falls asleep when Ahsoka starts running her hands through his hair.
Back on Kamino when a member of a batch was injured in training, the Kaminoans would allow the squad to visit their injured brother because they believed it helped them be less distracted and improved test scores
When a trooper is injured on the battle field their close brothers usually won't be able to rest until they've visited their vod in the medbay
This habit soon expanded to their Jedi COs as well, much the Jedi's amusement
The 212th was peeved that Ahsoka ended up with the 501st, they thought they were going to get her
The clones do in fact have the “see a lonely child and adopt it” gene and this comes out particularly strong with the Jedi Padawan Commanders
Many of the jedi generals teach their troopers certain hobby skills like knitting, painting, craft, etc to help with stress and what not
Hunter uses a bar of soap to clean his hair while Tup has a 3 step hair routine
The Bad Batch drew many of their plans and strategies from Rex's battle plans and also got many from Echo's (back when he was int he 501st)
Ahsoka taught Cody how to use a lightsaber so next time Obi-Wan drops his he can use it to defend himself and his men
Torrent company compares scars on who's is the coolest
Hardcase as the most scars because heavy class troopers are usually on the front lines
Jesse has the coolest from a run-in with a gundark on a scouting mission
Hardcase refers to Ahsoka as 'sir yes ma'am' or 'ma'am yes sir'
Multiple members of Torrent snuck Ahsoka out to get a tattoo on her 16th birthday
Tech is the only one in the bad batch that snores, and he snores like a freight train
Medics keep cleaning supplies for armor in the medbay in case they are keeping someone in for observation and need to keep them occupied (it also helps keep the medbay clean)

Matthew Leonard: Matthew Leonard entered the Army from Birmingham, Alabama in 1947. He served in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. On February 28, 1967, Leonard was serving as a platoon sergeant with Company B, 1st Battalion, 16th Infantry, 1st Infantry Division, near Suoi Da, South Vietnam. When his platoon came under attack. Sergeant Leonard organized the defense and encouraged his men. Despite suffering several wounds, he continued to command and eventually charged an enemy machine gun. He was wounded again during the charge, and died soon after. For his actions on that day, Sergeant Leonard received the Medal of Honor.
Leonard's widow Lois and her family were presented with his Medal of Honor by President Lyndon B. Johnson during a ceremony at the Pentagon on December 19, 1968. For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty. His platoon was suddenly attacked by a large enemy force employing small arms, automatic weapons, and hand grenades. Although the platoon leader and several other key leaders were among the first wounded, P/Sgt. Leonard quickly rallied his men to throw back the initial enemy assaults. During the short pause that followed, he organized a defensive perimeter, redistributed ammunition, and inspired his comrades through his forceful leadership and words of encouragement.
Noticing a wounded companion outside the perimeter, he dragged the man to safety but was struck by a sniper's bullet which shattered his left hand. Refusing medical attention and continuously exposing himself to the increasing fire as the enemy again assaulted the perimeter, P/Sgt. Leonard moved from position to position to direct the fire of his men against the well camouflaged foe. Under the cover of the main attack, the enemy moved a machine gun into a location where it could sweep the entire perimeter. This threat was magnified when the platoon machine gun in this area malfunctioned. P/Sgt. Leonard quickly crawled to the gun position and was helping to clear the malfunction when the gunner and other men in the vicinity were wounded by fire from the enemy machine gun. P/Sgt. Leonard rose to his feet, charged the enemy gun and destroyed the hostile crew despite being hit several times by enemy fire. He moved to a tree, propped himself against it, and continued to engage the enemy until he succumbed to his many wounds. His fighting spirit, heroic leadership, and valiant acts inspired the remaining members of his platoon to hold back the enemy until assistance arrived. P/Sgt. Leonard's profound courage and devotion to his men are in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service, and his gallant actions reflect great credit upon himself and the U.S. Army. He was 37

[ad_1] GG News Bureau Maharajganj, 16th Oct. Mobile internet and broadband services remained suspended in Maharajganj for the third consecutive day on Wednesday, following communal violence that erupted on Sunday during a Durga idol immersion procession. The suspension has disrupted daily life and local businesses, according to officials. Although the situation is gradually returning to normalcy, with no reports of further incidents since Tuesday, heavy police deployment remains in place, especially within a 20-km radius of Maharajganj town in Mahsi tehsil. Enhanced Vigilance at the Border Given Maharajganj’s proximity to Nepal, the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) has increased border vigilance. “We have coordinated with Nepal’s Armed Police Force to restrict unnecessary movement across the India-Nepal border through Rupaidiha,” said Ganga Singh Udawat, Commandant of SSB’s 42nd battalion. The heightened security follows directives from the force’s DIG-IG headquarters. Communal Tensions and Police Crackdown The violence began when clashes broke out during the Dussehra celebrations, leading to the death of Ram Gopal Mishra, 22, and injuries to about six others. As a result, over 50 suspects have been arrested, and five FIRs have been registered related to the violence and arson. Authorities continue to search for key accused Abdul Hamid and his sons. Local police confirmed that the situation in the affected area is now under control, with normalcy returning to other parts of the district. However, the suspension of internet services has severely impacted business activities. “Business worth crores has been affected due to the lack of internet,” said Gauri Shankar Bhaniramka, president of the UP Udyog Vyapar Mandal’s Bahraich chapter. Efforts for Stability In response to the unrest, a control room has been established to monitor the situation. Additional intelligence teams have been deployed to track the activities of alleged rioters via social media. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has been receiving hourly updates and has directed the deployment of additional forces to the troubled areas. Ongoing Medical Assistance Among those injured during the violence, 45-year-old Satyavan Mishra, who is physically disabled, was transferred to Lucknow on Tuesday for advanced medical treatment. He had initially been admitted to the Bahraich medical college. As peace gradually returns to the area, authorities remain vigilant to prevent any further disruptions, while the local community awaits the restoration of communication services to regain normalcy in their daily lives and businesses. More Kurds are joining the Syrian army
The earthquake, reports of which disturb the world media even after almost a month and a half, has changed the worldview of many people in Syria. Former opponents, shoulder to shoulder, pulled the wounded out from under the rubble of collapsed buildings, delivered them to medical institutions and, unfortunately, buried their loved ones who became victims of the elements. A large number of Kurdish people still live in the territories of the most affected areas. Political scientists and military oriental experts immediately after the earthquake predicted a warming of relations between the Syrians and the Kurdish population in this part of Syria. Their predictions came true: seeing the dedication of the Syrians, who, regardless of nationality, provided assistance to all victims without exception, many Kurds decided to reconcile with the Syrian government and, moreover, join the Syrian Armed Forces. We spoke with one of the soldiers of the 851st assault battalion of the 16th assault brigade, who was assigned to this unit for military training. The man told us that he and four other Kurdish comrades had decided to join the fight against illegal groups. They were inspired to do this by the fact that the Syrian military pulled their family members out from under the concrete rubble. Over the past month, the influx of Kurdish volunteers has increased by 15% compared to the end of last year.

Do you have other medic friends? Who are the other pack medics?
Yeah, every now and then I’ll get together with the medics from a couple other battalions and we’ll share horror stories and sometimes kid pictures. I think next time we meet up we might try to catch a holovid or something 😅
*gives the anon a smile as he remembers the shenanigans they got up to last time they hung out*
I’m friends with Coric and Kix from the 501st and Florist from the 798th, and a couple vode from the 16th medical battalion.
Also, since the 104th does a lot of rescue missions, most of the Wolfpack is trained in very basic first aid, but I’ve got a couple vod’ikae here that—
*is interrupted by a grumpy-looking medic with buzzed black hair* I’m not that much younger than you, Patch! Got my training same as you.
I know, Focus, don’t worry. I just call you vod’ika because... because you’re my vod’ika and it’s a term of endearment! *gives him a smile and a friendly nudge*
*Focus rolls his eyes and goes back to filling out paperwork*
We’ve got a couple other medics here too; Blu and a new kid who hasn’t picked a name yet, but that’s the medics of the 104th!
#clone medic patch#clone medic focus#//shiny medic doesn’t have a name yet because I couldn’t think of one#florist is the oc of the check company rp blog#//this got kinda long whoops#long post#ish

[Outdated] Guidelines and MASTER LIST!!
Now, in honor of Echo (who yes, I know is not dead), a few ground rules for this blog...
I would love it if people sent me asks!
I do not write: - NSFW (nothing explicit) - clone-cest (brothers, ‘nuff said) - Rexoka
I write reader inserts and OCs. I can do angst and fluff And plenty of AUs where people are happy and Sheev isn’t.
Also, I’d love it if people want to talk about the world of Star Wars. I’m big on small details people see in the Clone Wars, culture tidbits, and headcanons galore about the clones themselves.
MASTER LIST BELOW...
Here’s the accumulation of all my stories/groups of related posts on this Tumblr. All items on this list will also have a link back here at the top.
If you are looking for a story that is not here anymore, please check my new blog, fanficfest. I have reblogged my stories here to there and deleted them here.
Also, here are some tags to look up. (I update these with reblogs, so the url would change too much for a link.)
Requested Fic --For the asks I get, these are the stories I write
Lesser Known Facts About: 501st, 104th, 212th, Jedi --This is stuff I picture different groups doing, mostly quirks or downtime, general stuff that could be found in their general vicinity
Picture This --This is meant to bring about an image, which people can draw if they want, as long as they tag me as the one to inspire them, no story in general, just imagery
16th Medical Battalion --This tag is for the majority of my OCs, which is a clone group. --For more about these guys, go to my new blog dedicated to them, here.
That One Time... --This is for specific moments with at least one clone, if not others. It is usually meant to be funny.
Morut’yc Yaim --This is set in a parallel world where the clones get their own secret planet and culture. Might be part of another story (if I ever get to that point)
Clones are Royalty --This is an AU I thought of that I could expand on, if someone asked me to

GI Joe: Remixed, the Stygians
Another set of OCs by the brilliant Night_stalker, this time of the Baroness’ elite personal black ops goon squad, the Stygians:
Team leader:
Name: Waylon Calthrope Codename: Obelisk DoB: Classified Orientation: Homosexual Former Affiliation: Force Research Unit Bio: Waylon comes from a long line of military men, so when he was picked for the FRU, eyebrows were raised. Yet, the hardened NCO had been chosen, so he went into it eyes open. Needless to say, by the time he was transferred out, he had picked up quite a few unsettling habits. Needless to say, these habits weren't what Her Majesty's Armed Forces particularly liked, so he was sent down to Gibraltar, in order to cool off. Alas, he was involved in Operation Flavius, which was the final straw for many of the brass. Come 1990, he was handed his kit in a box, told to leave, and politely reminded of the Official Secrets Act while on his way out the door. Naturally, he did what anyone would do in such a time, and went off to join ArmorGroup, a PMC, where he actually was doing very well for himself. Well, nobody doubted his skills, stories are still circulating throughout their barracks of his daring deeds, the problem was, stories were circulating. Including one or two that showed he hadn't quite lost those habits that had gotten his discharge papers in the first place. In an attempt to avoid losing such a highly valued member, AG just had him rotated into a training position, figuring that he could be far less harmful there then in the field. A reasonable argument, it failed to consider one possibility. Namely, that he would occasionally be called up as a Floater (Guard used to fill temp holes in schedules), which was exploited once the people in charge of staffing realized the potential gold mine they had on tap. Then the company was acquired by G4S, and one of the changes they made was letting go of personnel who they deemed to be unfit to have under their umbrella. Waylon was one such person, but this time, he had done some prep work. As he walked out the door of his old office, a worn cardboard box with the few personal belongings he had inside it, he pulled out a business card, and dialed it. The phone rang twice, before a woman with a Eastern European accent picked up the phone. "Baroness? This is Waylon, are you still looking for another member of that outfit you're setting up?" Hobbies: Knife Throwing, Weightlifting, Fantasy Football, and Homebrewing.
Members:
Name: Matsui Yunosuke Codename: Goryō DoB: June 19th, 1979 Former Affiliation: Inagawa-kai Specialty: Close In Protection Orientation: Het, Married to Console (see below) Bio: Born into a Yakuza family, Matsui grew up with the ethos of the movement as his nursery rhymes. However, he didn't seem to fit quite in. Despite his best efforts, the only things he seemed to be good at were keeping silent, and when keeping silent wasn't enough, cracking skulls. As one would imagine, while it makes him a great bodyguard and enforcer, when it comes to stuff that requires a bit more of a business mind, he didn't fit in. The local boss, seeking to capitalize on his talents, assigned him to guard his beloved sister, who was responsible for handling the books side of the business. However, even he couldn't protect her from an full sized hit squad sent by a angry rival. While in hospital, his boss tried to silence him, which failed horrifically. Once he was done recovering from some torn stitches, he was contacted by one of the Athenes, and made a very appealing offer..... Revenge for service, in essence. Stricken with rage, he agreed, and the boss was soon killed in what was described as "A gangland deal gone wrong", and what was described by a police offical off record as "The single biggest bloodbath he'd seen in his career". Hobbies: Kendo, Spider keeping, listening to punk rock, and watching trashy romance anime.
Name: Balbina Krajewska Codename: Baba Yaga DoB: Classified Former Affiliation: Medi-Vipers, before that, [REDACTED] Orientation: Asexual. Specialty: Medical/Interrogation Bio: Much of Balbina's life before Cobra is left blank. Mostly as she comes from the Medi-Vipers, and that stuff is kept classified as hell, and also because well, nobody wants to look too deep into the Abyss. That said, it is known that she's a combat medic par none, winning several commendations for her life saving methods, as well as managing to uncover a organ theft ring. Totally unrelated, according to her. That said, she did ruffle some feathers, as well as other parts of their bodies, so a sideways transfer was in order. Hobbies: Cosplaying, Ballet, Medical experimentation, and Medical Cosplaying (Don't ask. Seriously.).
Name: [REDACTED] Codename: Console DoB: Unknown Former Affiliation: Cyber-Vipers, before that, Unknown Orientation: Het, married to Goryo Specialty: Heavy Weapons/Cyberwarfare Bio: While little is known about Console's previous life, given the usual Cyber-Viper "Welcome Basket", what is known is that she's got a fondness for heavy weapons, in particular DShK's, a hatred for GI Joe that seems rather intense, implying a personal connection to them, and finally, some very interesting tattoos on her body. Or at least, the remains of some tattoos, implying the Cybers laser removed them before her conversion occurred. Hobbies: World of Tanks, Knitting, Trolling forums, and deadlifting weights.
Name: Romeo Moretti Codename: Gaucho DoB: Unknown Former Affiliation: None Orientation: Single Target Sexuality, believed to be Baroness Specialty: Long Range Threat Neutralization Bio: Growing up in the Atacama Desert on the compound of a former Argentinian military sharpshooter and his wives, Romeo's childhood wasn't really the best. Between the daily marches to toughen them up for the impending apocolaypse, the hard shooting conditions, tight rations, and the annual tradition of being dumped someplace to find their way back, well, the fact that it took Romeo until his 16th birthday before he finally put a bullet through his father's skull could be taken as a sign of how patient he was. Or how long before he was allowed live rounds and some trigger time. Fleeing the compound with a old Mosin-Nagant rifle on his back, a canteen of water, and his favorite horse, it wasn't expected he'd show up anytime soon. Yet he survived in the wilderness, becoming a poacher, and on occasion when hunting was lean, a hitman. His natural charm and skill with a rifle somewhat impressed the locals, a fact which he started exploiting, trading animal pelts and teeth for ammo and other nescessities. However, soon the heat became too much for him, both figuratively and literally, so he started looking for a way out. As luck would have it, Baroness had heard rumors about this daring man's skills, and made him a offer. It's rumored he accepted as soon as he saw a photo of his new boss, but there probably isn't any truth to them. Hobbies: Horseback riding, hunting, meditation, collecting stuff for his secret shrine to Baroness.
Name: Goktas Muhiddin Codename: Askari DoB: March 5, 1983 Former Affiliation: Special Forces Command, Turkey Orientation: Het Specality: General Combat Bio: [REDACTED] Hobbies: Wargaming, Baccarat, playing Overwatch (Reaper Main), and cross country running.
BONUS: The leader of Athene, The Baroness’ personal paramilitary unit (because her boyfriend has the Iron Grenadiers and she can’t stand not being having an army of her own)
Name: Moira Burns Codename: Lozen DoB: December 19th, 1980 Former Affiliation: 1st Marine Battalion, A Company Orientation: Gay, currently engaged to a Track-Viper and a Rock-Viper at the same time. Bio: Why Moira left the Marines is a matter of some debate amongst her new command. Some claim that she was forced out before Don't Ask was repealed, and held a grudge over the matter. Others make the argument that the "Apricot Incident" was the last straw for her military career. And then we just have people who think she joined out of true love. The answer may never be known, as all parties involve remain silent. What is known is that she left the Marines with a bit of ax to grind against them, which made her rather appealing to the Baroness. Why she picked Moira for the Athene unit's lead isn't as concealed. According to Baroness: "Moira's professionalism and aggressive leadership style made her a perfect fit for the Athene Unit", which has been accepted as the gospel truth. Or at least nobody feels a desire to really push matters much further past that. Hobbies: Burning down Apricot trees, movie reviews, dog breeding, and weight lifting.

A Humble Hero...
Never judge a book by its cover! What kind of guy is Rufus Lazzell? The kind of guy who took a job as a clerk at Scotty’s Hardware when he first came down here to retire in 1983.
“I was a sales clerk with a little red vest selling paint and commodes. I must have worked there until 1987,” he said. “I wanted to learn the hardware business and find out how to fix things. I never had to do much of that in the Army.” - Lazzell
Lt. Col. Rufus Lazzell of Punta Gorda Isles, Fla., commander of the U.S. Army’s 1st Battalion, 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Division tells Gen. William Westmoreland, commander of American troops in Vietnam, about the fire fight he and his men just had with the Viet Cong while some of the general’s staff listen. The 1967 shootout, in which a number of VC were killed, near Lai Khe, 40 miles north of Saigon.
From the looks of him you’d never know Rufus Lazzell is a highly-decorated Airborne Ranger with two wars under his belt. He is a little guy with a matter-of-fact attitude who doesn’t spend much time talking about his military exploits in Korea or Vietnam decades ago.
Lazzell would much rather discuss the chances of the Grand Old Party – his party in the upcoming election. Or possibly the behind-the-scenes politics at Punta Gorda City Hall, where he served as mayor twice.
Asked why he never touted his 30-year military career, the fact he is a retired U.S. Army brigadier general or his many military commendations, he said, “Because I’m a civilian now. My military record is there, and it will always be there.”
“The guy is a bonified American hero,” said Brig. Gen. James Shelton, a friend of Lazzell’s and a fellow battalion officer in the 1st infantry Division in Vietnam who lives in Cape Haze. “He’s well-known for his exploits in Vietnam with the ‘Big Red 1.” He got his ass shot off over there and kept on fighting.
“Maj. Gen. William DePuy (his division commander) said Lazzell could smell the enemy out and went after him. That was the name of the game over there.”
DePuy was legendary as a demanding battlefield commander. “It was DePuy’s battalion that led the charge crossing the Mosell River in France in December 1944,” Shelton explained. They helped breach Hitler’s Sigfried Line that resulted in Germany’s defeat a year later.
In Viet Nam, the two-star general fired Lazzell’s predecessor and brought the seasoned lieutenant colonel in as a replacement. Thirty minutes after he took command of the 1st Battalion, 16th Infantry Division, he was on the front lines.
In 1965, he volunteered for Vietnam as a lieutenant colonel. He began as a staff officer in the 2nd ARVIN Corps, which didn’t make him happy. He was a front line soldier who didn’t want to spend a tour in Vietnam shuffling papers back at the South Vietnamese Army’s headquarters.
“I kept sending requests to be a battalion commander to division commanders all over Vietnam,” Lazzell recalled. “Gen. DePuy told me to come down for an interview. Then he told me to report for duty the following Tuesday. When I arrived I immediately took command of the 1st Battalion, 16th Infantry regiment, 1st Division.”
He’d been at the front about a month when his unit collided with a seasoned Viet Cong unit in the brush north of Saigon. The VC were considered some of the best foot soldiers in the world. They had been at it for 20 years or more when they tangled with the 1st Battalion. It was these same enemy forces that ran the French out of Vietnam in the 1950’s. That’s when the Americans first got involved again in Southeast Asia after World War II.
“When the shooting started, I was forward and the Viet Cong shot my left elbow off,” Lazzell said. “The medics gave me a lot of Novocain and that made me feel good. I got my elbow bandaged up and kept on fighting until Gen. Hollingsworth, the assistant division commander, ordered me off the battlefield.
“I went back to a MASH unit. Initially my doctor said my elbow would have to be fused together and would never work again. Fortunately for me, the MASH unit was run by an experienced orthopedic surgeon who suggested not messing with my elbow and sent me back to Walter Reed Hospital in Washington, D.C. for treatment,” he said. “A couple of young doctors at Walter Reed began experimenting with my elbow. They spliced a section of sheep bone and got my elbow working again.”
Almost immediately, Lazzell convinced Gen. DePuy he was ready for combat again. Although his left arm wasn’t really working properly, he bent the truth and got the general to send him back to his old command – 1st Battalion, 16th Infantry, 1st Division.
“I had a little leather thing on my elbow to protect it,” he recalled. He hadn’t returned to action on the front long when he and Lt. Col. Al Haig, commander of the 1st Battalion, 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division, got into a major confrontation with the VC.
“Our two battalions landed together and Haig’s got surrounded by the Viet Cong. By the next morning we had killed about 150 of the enemy,” Lazzell said. “Al came out of the weeds, unshaven and looking pretty bad. I said, ‘Al did you have a good time?’ He didn’t’ seem to appreciate my inquiry.”
This is the same Al Haig who was sent to the Pentagon by Gen. DePuy and ended up being President Reagan’s Secretary of State.
Lazzell couldn’t recall either one of the two major Vietnam battles he was involved in when he received the Silver Star for gallantry under fire 30 years ago.
He did say he received the first Silver Star for continuing to fight after sustaining serious injuries to his elbow during his first major encounter with the enemy. His second Silver Star was for his actions under fire when he and Lt. Col. Haig fought the Viet Cong.
Then he said something about being shot down in a helicopter, but didn’t elaborate when he remembered he had only received a Bronze Star for valor for that incident.
Lazzell’s military career didn’t begin well. In fact, he said he got thrown out of Greenbrier Military Institute in West Virginia for his lack of decorum during his freshmen year. It distressed his mother so much she burst into tears when she got the news. The following year he was enrolled in Kentucky Military Institute, which wintered in Venice, Fla. Lazzell managed to correct his deportment deficiencies and graduated from KMI in 1947. He went on to Virginia Military Institute where he graduated as a 2nd lieutenant in 1951.
It was the middle of the Korean War and he volunteered to go, just like he would do more than a decade later in Vietnam. He became a 2nd lieutenant in the 14th Regiment, 25th Infantry Division in Korea. He spent 14 months there, much of it on the front lines.
When Lazzell returned to the States, he went to Fort Benning, Ga. and became an Airborne Ranger and a member of the 508th Regimental Combat Team. The 508th was transferred to Fort Campbell, Ky. and became part of the 101st Airborne Division.
By that time he was a captain. Before he shipped out for England almost a decade later, he had commanded six different airborne companies. As a major, he was selected in 1963 to join the British Parachute Brigade based in Aldershot. The queen arrived for the bicentennial commemoration of the garrison’s church at Aldershop in July of that year.
On a wall in the study of the retired Army brigadier general is a picture of him marching at the head of his British troopers as the commanding major. Under a canopy along the side of the street is Queen Elizabeth II reviewing the troops as Lazzell and his men march by.
From there, Lazzell was transferred to Heidelberg, Germany as a NATO staff officer for the secretary of the American commanding general. In 1964 he was sent back to the States to attend the Armed Forces Staff College. A short time later the Vietnam War heated up and he volunteered for duty in Southeast Asia.
When he returned from Vietnam, he attended the Army War College in Carlisle, Pa. for a year. Then he was sent to the Pentagon to work for Gen Creighton Abrams, the Army’s Chief of Staff, as inspector general for a special branch that only inspected combat battalions. He did that for a couple of years as a full colonel.
In 1974, he went back to Germany as a brigadier general and assistant division commander of the 3rd Infantry Division. He held that position for three years. That was the same outfit that formed the backbone of the ground attack in Iraq several months ago.
Then he spent a couple of years in charge of plans for NATO’s South Region Headquarters in Naples, Italy. When he returned to the States in the late 1970s he became the general in charge of plans for the American Defense Board that includes most all the countries in the Western Hemisphere.
After almost 30 years of military service, Lazzell retired from the Army in 1981. A couple of years later he and his wife, JoJac, moved to Punta Gorda Isles. Over the last two decades he has served four, two-year terms on the Punta Gorda City Council from 1988 to 1996, including four years as mayor. Over the years he also served on 23 other local and regional governmental boards.
I never had to do much of that in the Army.”
