Enhanced Edition SPN Con Video Anniversary

It's hard for me to believe, but it was a year ago today that I published my very first Enhanced Edition video on YouTube, and posted about it here on Tumblr. That first video was the CHICON 2007 J2 Breakfast, originally published on December 24, 2023, but revised in April 2024.

I don't know if this will interest anyone else, but I thought I'd share a couple stats from my YouTube channel that I personally find interesting.

I 💗love💗 that almost half my viewers watch with the subtitles on, because let me tell you, a lot of effort goes into those damn subtitles. 🤣 It also makes me super happy when people tell me the subtitles have helped them to understand what was going on. I want the whole world to be able to enjoy their antics and these videos can be difficult to understand even for native English speakers.

I'm not really surprised by how many people watch on their phone, but my eyes hurt just thinking about it! On the other hand, the idea that some people out there actually watch my stuff on their TV makes me feel weirdly happy for some reason. As for me, I usually watch both my own videos and other people's videos on my main PC at my desk -- the same one I use for video editing. I have a 40" widescreen monitor, so when you consider how close I'm sitting to it, I guess it's not all that different from watching it on a TV.

Closing Comments

I've said this before, but the fact that this project is still going after a year is largely thanks to those of you on Tumblr who noticed my posts a year ago and showed interest in my project when I was a complete stranger. These days the comments, likes, and subscriptions I get on my YouTube channel are also a big motivator for me, but it took several months before I started to get any attention on YouTube. I'd have probably given up long before that happened if it hadn't been for the interest shown here on Tumblr in those early days. It's a project I very much wanted to do, but I couldn't have justified to myself the ridiculous amount of time I've spent on it if I had been the only one interested. Thank you! 💗💙

My next video will go up on my YouTube channel this coming Friday at 3pm U.S. EST. It's the J2M panel from CHICON 2010 and it will be my 18th video.
