he would be one of the classic friends to lovers with slow burn. For him, at first, you would be just a friend and deny his feelings, claiming that it was only physical attraction to your beautiful best friend. but, little by little, this taggered excuse fade. and everyone around began to notice, they began to notice his lost looks on you while you dance, they realized the immediate smiles he gave when you arrived or sat near him, they realized how much he made you cancel your dates to be with him. in the end, it was love. pure love.

and he himself realized that he would no longer hide when he saw you stunning in a long golden dress at a New Year’s party, he dragged you to a corner, you laughed, little by little he began to talk. to tell the things he felt, subtly, making hypotheses and to his happiness, you agreed.

and then, when the count started, he simply turned around and glued his lips with his own. “happy new year’s, cherie.”

i see max’s trope a lot as enemies to lovers, but more like situationship type (i don’t even know if it’s considered as a trope, anyways). something that started to be fun, casual, just two people joying their bodies, for the thrill of the thing. buuut, it wasn’t casual when he ate you out on his car or didn’t let you go back home after the win of the championship.

it turned into something that infested his brain, something quiet that turned into a insane need. he compared you to other women, in every single way. sex, clothes, manners, smile, jokes, everything, and yet, he didn’t found you. and with the time, he started to treat you better, he already treated you insanely well, but it got better, with the pinch of love and longing.

it started to be schatje here, schatje there. he started to act like you were his girl, without realizing and not caring too.

“max!” you protested, shooting him a glance filled with annoyance and reprimand. “what?” he replied, with the most monotone ever, like he didn’t just threw away a ferrari cap and place a red bull’s in your head. “you really need to stop treating me like that” you say, feeling strange towards his new way of manners, a good type of strange feeling. “like what?” the dutch said, lifting his eyes to yours. “your girlfriend.”

Love Me Till You Leave Me part 16

Anyone with two eyes that can see, could see, and feel the tension between you two. Everyone has seen the way she looks at you when she knows you're lost in your thoughts, not giving care to your surroundings. She stared, and she didn't even realise it until someone confronted her and told her that it's rude to stare.

One of the people who told her off was her friend Addison.

(Flashback)

A: You know she's my ex.

A/M: Sorry. I can only imagine being left behind over and over.

A: I'm the one who left her.

A/M: Why? She seems great.

Amelia walks out, tired of her friend's endless teasing. Addison's smirk that she was holding back began to show.

(End of flashback)

Addison took a mission upon herself to make Amelia jealous and make her realise her mistake. But an innocent flirtation with you led to something, unto another, and you ended up sleeping together.

You and Addison had a conversation about it and come up with an agreement that it's just a one (many ones) time thing, and that it should never happen again, but they would stay friends.

Every time Addison sees Amelia, she feels guilty for what she had let happen.

You were all at a common friend's house celebrating someone's birthday. Addie pulled Ames out of the crowd to confess.

A/M: I need to tell you something. Please, don't be mad at me, but it's totally understandable if you do.

A: Addison, what is it? Just tell me.

A/M: I slept with Y/N.

Amelia was shook to the core, but she tried to mask it with a smile and a very awkward chuckle.

A: I- uh, I'm with Kai now-- It's none of my business who she chooses to sleep with. And, you- didn't need to tell me.

A/M: So, are you mad?

Amelia walks away. After a few steps, she halted and turned to look at Addison "have a good day, Addison," then she continued to walk away from where her friend stood.

Addison was left with her thoughts. She sigh loudly 'she didn't say she was not mad, but she didn't also say she was not, not mad' she thinks to herself but eventually shrug it off and went on with her life.

Amelia was now sitting in a bathroom stall. Her mind wanders to what Addison had confessed. She wasn't mad, but she was rather hurt by her friend's revelation. A tear escape from her eye so she lift her head to look up, and not let any tear escape from her again, it was getting harder for her to hold those tears but before she broke out into a sob, she smelled a familiar scent, her sadness turned to panic.

You went to the restroom to wash your hands, check yourself out in the mirror, and then fix or flatten your clothes. Someone had followed you. "Hey! There you are-- you disappeared from me back there. " Teddy places a hand on your back, and gently caress it, trying to comfort you. "I just need a minute to recharge, you know how I get on parties," you told her, but you really just wanted to go home, to sleep, or just lie in your bed.

Amelia waited for the familiar voices to go out so she could go out of the stall.

Kai would sometimes catch Amelia stealing glances of you.

They would notice her smiling every time she sees you smiling. They notice how she would quickly turn to look away when your line of sight turns to her direction.

One night, Amelia said your name in her sleep while she coddled with Kai, and them watching her sleep, it broke them a little.

Later in the morning, Kai confronted Amelia.

K: You were saying Y/N's name in your sleep last night

A: Really? --I did?

K: Yes

A: I don't know, I don't remember

K: Was it a sex dream?

A: What?! I told you, I don't know and I don't remember. Now, let's get coffee

Amelia stood on the corner of the bed, and Kai suddenly grabbed her, making her fall back to the bed. As Kai said "wait" Amelia is shocked. "Sorry. I didn't mean to--" Kai apologises and tried to explain themselves, but Amelia cut her off, "what is it?!" Her voice a little bit laced with anger and disappointment... "Are you still in love with her? With Y/N?" Kai finally asks the question that has been looming around everybody else's mind.

Amelia just remained quiet while she got off of the bed, but she suddenly blurted out, "Stop with these nonsense. Let us go and get coffee. Don't ruin such a beautiful day. " Kai doesn't know what validation they need, but that is enough with them.

They felt like this conversation had happened before. It did, somehow, word for word, but they didn't remember the first time, this time though, they surely won't forget.

You were aboard the elevator. When the door was about to close, someone shouted for you to "Wait. Hold it. " it was a familiar voice, so you followed the instruction. When the owner of the voice came, you smiled at her, and she smiled at you.

A: Hi. Thanks for waiting.

Y/N: Hi, as well. It was nothing, I'd do it for anyone

Amelia doesn't know what she's thinking, but you saying you'd do that for anyone kinda hurt her. She thought to herself that she became just anyone to you.

People started filing up in the elevator and and you were both pushed into the back corner. Her back rubbing in front of you, you both cleared your throats by the sudden connection when the elevator halted.

You are so close together she can clearly smell the scent she's been missing without knowing, even if you're in a small space with a lot of people, your scent triumph over other scents and she finally figure out what that distinct smell of your perfume. "Sandalwood," she blurted out, and everyone in the elevator turned their head to look at her. "What?" You ask her, "sandalwood. I figured it out, the scent I really like from you, it's sandalwood, right?" You were confused for a second, but then you figure out what she's talking about. "Ah, yes-- right," you chuckled awkwardly.

You didn't avoid her. She didn't avoid you. It's like nothing ever happened, but something did, and it still hurts you.

Amelia is still feeling feelings for you.

Everyone knows she's still in love with you, except you, and she's about to admit it to herself.

10. Bodyguard AU

Pierre doesn't seem big enough for a bodyguard.

Not that Charles is complaining, of course, by any means—he knows, as royal lineage, that there's always a risk to his safety on at least some level whenever he's out in public, and he's mostly come to terms with that. But when his mother had introduced him to the bodyguard that the family had hired for his protection, he'd almost laughed out loud, because…

Well. Pierre looks like a normal guy. He's quiet, introduces himself with a nod, and Charles thinks immediately that he could be a stranger he bumps into in a coffee shop, not a man trained in god knows how many defensive arts meant to protect someone.

He's muscular, sure, but nothing to write home about. And like—Charles is taller than him. Not by much, of course, and sometimes when Pierre is standing alongside him it feels like he's towering, but side-by-side, he is taller. What's the point of a bodyguard who is shorter than you? George, one of his mother's assistants, is at least a head taller than him, and seems almost as fit as Pierre seems to be.

Not that Charles has been looking, of course. But on afternoons where they spend the day in the sun, Charles has seen Pierre take off his blazer and knows that the expanse of his back is broad and built, muscles flexing beneath the pressed white dress shirt and looking…fit. That's all Charles can allow himself. He doesn't care about his security team, end-of.

But they're stuck in traffic on a Friday night, lights from the road around them splashing across his bodyguard's face, and Charles can't help but think that he looks out of place, almost: sitting here across from him in the limousine, sunglasses on even inside the car, expression carefully neutral. He could be an influencer, maybe: the cut of his jaw is too sharp and, frankly, attractive to be wasting away in the private security business.

"What made you want to do this?" Charles asks, setting his phone face-down on the seat beside him. Pierre doesn't hear him, apparently—Charles clears his throat, raises an eyebrow as his bodyguard stirs at that, brows climbing over his sunglasses. "Be a bodyguard. Why'd you do it?"

Pierre shrugs. "It is what I'm good at," he says simply, pressing the earpiece further into his ear.

But that's not nearly the satisfying answer Charles had been hoping for. "But you don't look—" Pierre lowers his sunglasses for a moment, fixing Charles with a look that can only say what do you mean rather intimidatingly, and he changes his tune. "Sorry, I mean. You look like you should be a YouTuber or something, not…"

Pierre, shockingly, smiles. Or, well, it's more of a smirk than anything, but it's more emotion than he's seen from the man since he'd been hired. Charles' breath catches. He's…kind of hot. "Should I be flattered that you think I'm not ugly, Mr. Leclerc?" The younger man swallows. "Many people that look like me are more than just pretty faces." Pierre winks and Charles thinks he's just about swallowed his tongue.

"Oh," he manages, stupidly. "Are you ex-military?" Truthfully, he hadn't gotten around to reading the man's credentials even if they'd been sitting at his desk for months, and he hopes he doesn't come across as rude. It's just…something about the mystery of his bodyguard's aura is crawling under his skin, and Charles is nothing if not a picker.

Pierre's amusement dies in an instant. Features stoic once more, sunglasses back up properly on his face, Charles watches whatever opening of understanding he'd worked on zip shut. "Yes," he answers, voice even once more. Then, before Charles can inquire further, he continues. "You should review that speech while you have the time, Mr. Leclerc. The benefit will be waiting on you the moment we arrive, as traffic doesn't seem to be letting up."

Ah, right. The stupid benefit he's being forced to attend because Lorenzo is out of town. He opens his mouth to counter Pierre's suggestion, but doesn't get a chance to voice his thoughts because the car jerks to a stop, much harder than normal on-off traffic. The two of them lurch in their seats, Charles grabbing at his seatbelt haphazardly for a moment before they settle.

"Sorry," the voice from the driver's seat says, filtering through the partition. "There's some kind of hold-up ahead—"

And then the ringing sound of what could be gunshots fill the tunnel around them, and oh. Charles swallows thickly. "Um," he starts, and then doesn't continue because the sound gets a little closer and in a second, Pierre's got a hand firmly on his arm, tugging him forward and onto the floor of the limo. Charles goes easily. The gunshots—they must be gunshots, Pierre wouldn't be doing this if they weren't—are loud, now, and he's fucking shaking. Shaking. He's driven through this tunnel countless times and hasn't even considered an incident like this as a possibility.

"Charles," Pierre says, low and firm, and Charles snaps to his attention, staring at his bodyguard's face. "Stay down. We will be fine, I promise." He scoots closer, leans over so that his body is closer to Charles' than it ever has been before, and he's warm. "Just stay down." Pierre's hand is now resting just between Charles' shoulders, big and almost comforting as it eases him further to the floor.

Any lingering concern about his size is long forgotten.

It's fitting, almost, that the universe hates Charles Leclerc enough to not only put him in this shitty little cafe in the middle of April, facing the big open windows to watch the sky open up, but to even put him here in the first place: at a fucking speed dating event, because his coworkers had begged him to just to get him to stop sleeping on their couches every weekend they go out together. It's humiliating, and yet he can't even fault them for doing it because they're his friends and they want him to be happy and find someone--at least someone to see next weekend, as a distraction from the fact that it's his three-year anniversary of getting divorced.

Progress, his therapist had stressed, and in theory, sure, but it doesn't change how he feels now, sitting across from a chattering woman whose tone is just nasally enough for Charles to know that he'd bang his head on the table if they were out together for longer than the allotted time here. He glances at the clock on the other side of the room to try and piece together how many more of these he has left before he can go back to his apartment in peace--

--and then catches sight of one Pierre Gasly, seated three tables away from him and looking equally as displeased at the man sitting across from him, which would be funnier if his brain hadn't just fully morphed into a deer in the headlights.

Pierre, like always, seems to feel the gaze upon him: he turns and catches sight of Charles before he can look away in embarrassment, and a crooked, familiar grin appears on his face right as the timer buzzes loudly, indicating everyone at the event to change tables--and suddenly it hits him, as he watches Pierre stand and move to the next table, that he might have to talk to his ex-husband at this god-awful event and avoid doing something stupid...like falling in love with him again.
