Angel helps you enjoy the rarity of a cold desert night.

There were things that people didn't know about living in the desert, one of them was that when things were just right, when the wind picked up the sand and threw it into the sky so it blocked out the sun, and the night fell early, it got cold.

You feel that chill as you made your way from the car to your front door, wanting nothing more than a hot shower to warm up. Angel was waiting for you the moment you opened the door, a childish smile on his face as he blocked the view to the lounge room with his frame. "Hello, what are you hiding?"

He grinned, wide and filled with mischief. "Nothing, but you can't look at the other room when you walk to the bathroom."

You sighed and threw your hands in the air. "Fine."

He came behind you and placed his hands over your eyes, guiding you until you felt the tiles under your feet. "I'll be waiting outside when you're done."

You shook your head and huffed fondly. "Ok. I can't wait to see what you have planned."

The shower did wonders, chasing away the cold the way a wood fire chases away the snow. True to Angel's word, he was there when you stepped out of the bathroom and he took your hand and walked you into the lounge room, his smile growing wider with each step.

You saw it the moment you rounded the corner, the cosy set up of blankets and pillows, strung together and held up with tables and chairs and what a looked like tent posts from the old broken camping tent. Your heart swelled as his hand found your lower back and you spun to hug him. "You built me a blanket fort?"

He nodded. "I did, Mi Amor. Do you like it?"

"I love it, thank you." you took his hand and went inside, bending down and finally laying amongst the many pillows as Angel threw a blanket over the two of you.

He reached around into a corner and picked up his laptop before snuggling close. "I've already got your favorite you're loaded."

You smiled and rested your head against his shoulder. "Thank you Angel, I love you so much."

He pressed a kiss to your forehead and took a breath as your scent filled the air around him. "I love you too."

yeah... i LOVE the demo of Laplace's Angel. it's so wonderfully bitter and grotesque and wacky and also so... honest. i get why people would be offended by it, but i genuinely think that "edgy" art deserves to exists as well because sometimes the ridiculousness of it makes a nice critique. that song's just dripping with loathing for humanity but also with loathing for the narrator himself. um. CHEF'S KISS TBH.

Zariel Redemption —

I talked a bit with @wvrlock about some of this because in at least one version of this AU Fallahan is babysitting her through her nonsense, but I really like the idea of her being redeemed just long enough to free Elturel, after which Lathander zaps her divine powers mostly away until she can prove she's not a major threat to the world anymore.

She becomes an Aasimar, sort of. Something similar to what Dame Aylin is; immortal, but with magic more in line with a typical paladin. She has wings, she can fly. If she dies, she hits the dirt for ~24 hours or so and then resurrects.

She is extremely grumpy about it and in many cases still acting somewhat evil, occasionally. She needs a chaperone real bad.

Appearance-wise, she still mostly resembles how she looked before the fall (I really like this person's art of her) with a few key differences:

Her halo's still on fire. The fire's just blue-white holy fire instead of red. When she even has the halo—in her semi-mortal form she loses it.

Her second set of wings is gone. Those are gone forever, even if she becomes an angel again. They're mounted above Asmodeus's mantle somewhere in Nessus.

She reclaimed the piece of her soul in her sword, but her actual sword's broken. She's replaced it with a normal steel one, completely nonmagical.

She's still got her stupid runny goth mascara on.

Post-redemption, Bel is running Avernus. His lordship is semi-secret until there's a good time to announce that Zariel is gone, but as long as she's still semi-mortal and nobody would otherwise know what happened to her, it behooves Asmodeus to let her name still echo around Avernus. For the blood war.

She gets briefly involved with the nonsense in Baldur's Gate, but I'm sure if Wyll or Karlach so much as lock eyes with her, she shuts her mouth and does her best to pretend she didn't see them. Until they inevitably call her out the second she has to voice anything, probably. I'm sure those guys -- karlach especially -- are less forgiving than The Powers of the Universe have been,
