Wednesday, 15th of May, 2024.

Current progress:

Hygiene - May seem like a normal thing but I struggle with routine. Brushed teeth twice today, had a shower after gym, and moisturised my face after my shower.

Physical activity - I do JACK SHIT with working, dadding, being forever tired and just my general issue with routine. Gym! (Shoulders and biceps).

Eating - Still not great, but still trying. 4 sausages in bread, a protein bar.

Sleep - Ehh, bellow normal persons hours but normal hours for me. 5 hours.

Selfcare - Good! Quality time with Fiend today.

Academic growth - None today.

Overall mood - Not sure quite yet. Been an iffy day, I think I’m still reeling a bit but I’m more optimistic today. Night time and being alone with my thoughts was kinda fuckin’ rough.

Alright, so day 1 I guess? (It’s been a minute)

So today was good! I mean, still trynna get my emotions in check but good nonetheless. Me and Fiend spent a majority of the time watching Invincible (if you haven’t watched it get to it! It’s good!), we also headed to the gym which was tough but a good outlet of energy and tension.

Went and saw Greeny today. She’s my old best friend. I miss her but things aren’t the same as they used to be. It’s sad but I’m always happy to see her.

I’m grateful for Fiend. I told him about what happened yesterday and he came straight over and has been kinda looking out for me - cooking and buying food for me and spending quality time for me.

I’m forever grateful, I missed him.

Decided to stop doing daily updates because I often feel like I have nothing to say. Posting on Monday so I can get the Pokemon Sleep week score in this.

Pokemon Sleep

Got a B for the week. My PoGoPlus+ ran out of battery in the middle of the night on Saturday so it only recorded like 3 hours. Adding the rest of my sleep afterwards didn't help.

New sleep styles: Cubone 3* - Pillow-Bone Sleep, Snover 1* - Seated Sleep

4/4 for Cubone!

Stardew Valley

Started dabbling in mod creation. Made a super simple crop consisting of a black square and black veggie. Have a few ideas but I think I need to figure out C# to fully realize them.

Fixed another person's mod (animated more new fish). Also wrote a few bugs for different mods.

As far as my actual save goes, I managed to fix the minecarts and upgrade my house. Still need to fix the RSV ones though. So glad I can easily cook now too

Daggerheart

Party spent a bunch of time trying to figure out how to get into the castle to warn the Royals about an assassination attempt.

They realized their main idea, flying over the walls at night, might not work since their mode of flight (seraph's wings) we had established prior that they glow when turned on.

Eventually tried to figure out other ways to get in.

Found an (ex?)-queen that is willing to get them into the upcoming Gala in exchange for going on a hunt with her.

The distance from Lake Kariba to Harare is some 370 km. The first 78 km we drove on a good road winding through a hilly area in wide curves up and down towards the A1 which is the major connection between Lusaka and Harare the capital of Zimbabwe. Bruno already warned us that as soon as we would turn on the A1 the situation would change to a road full of potholes, trucks and construction work. It turned out exactly as outlined and our average speed dropped considerably. Some of these holes were really nasty and if we could not avoid them because they spread across the whole width of the road we had to jump on the brakes to roll through as slow as possible. The road also broke of left and right in a steep decline so that turning on the gravel shoulder wasn’t an option. One of our 4x4s punctured two wheels and dented two rims at the same time when driving too fast into a deep pothole.

All these obstacles lead to a 7 hour drive with a lunch stop at „The Lion’s Den“ where excellent burgers were served with no waiting time at all. The second half after the break was much better but still we had to drive „Indian Style“ in order not to loose too much time.

We arrived in Harare around 15:30, got the car washed had two very crispy tacos at a food truck at the gas station. A lady started talking to us in excellent English. It turned out that she studied in Dallas and now served the „best“ tacos in town. Her name was „Sonia“ and she was ready to jump into the car to join us. After a lot of laughs we drove to „Highland House“ our lodge for the night.

The temperatures were very pleasant the whole day. Much cooler and a „tad bit nippy“ in the evening as Michael our rally friend from Jersey called it. Harare lies at an altitude of 1500 meters. When we came into the outskirts we had the impression of a rough city where the well to be hide in large compounds fenced off with long and high walls and barbed wire on top. Our hotel was in a suburb in an area where all the embassies were located. Streets got nicer, cleaner and everything was well kept.

After the usual „buffet“ dinner we went to bed early. Tomorrow we shall head to Mozambik.

Millions of Palestinians across the world commemorate 'Al Nakba'

On Wednesday, Palestinians across the world are commemorating the 76th anniversary of what they call "Al Nakba," which directly translates to "The Catastrophe." The anniversary signifies the day in 1948 when the British occupation formally ended its mandate in Palestine, thus creating the state of Israel.

Hundreds of thousands of Palestinians fled from their homes and were displaced after the 1948 war that resulted in Israel’s creation. This year’s anniversary is being observed during the ongoing conflict between Hamas and Israel, precipitated by Hamas' Oct. 7 attack on Israel, which resulted in more than 1,200 deaths. In the war that has followed, Israeli forces have killed tens of thousands of Palestinians and displaced 1.5 million people, according to the United Nations.

We speak to Beshara Doumani, Mahmoud Darwish chair in Palestinian Studies at Brown University, to get a sense of context around this anniversary.
