Decided to stop doing daily updates because I often feel like I have nothing to say. Posting on Monday so I can get the Pokemon Sleep week score in this.
Pokemon Sleep
Got a B for the week. My PoGoPlus+ ran out of battery in the middle of the night on Saturday so it only recorded like 3 hours. Adding the rest of my sleep afterwards didn't help.
New sleep styles: Cubone 3* - Pillow-Bone Sleep, Snover 1* - Seated Sleep
4/4 for Cubone!
Stardew Valley
Started dabbling in mod creation. Made a super simple crop consisting of a black square and black veggie. Have a few ideas but I think I need to figure out C# to fully realize them.
Fixed another person's mod (animated more new fish). Also wrote a few bugs for different mods.
As far as my actual save goes, I managed to fix the minecarts and upgrade my house. Still need to fix the RSV ones though. So glad I can easily cook now too
Daggerheart
Party spent a bunch of time trying to figure out how to get into the castle to warn the Royals about an assassination attempt.
They realized their main idea, flying over the walls at night, might not work since their mode of flight (seraph's wings) we had established prior that they glow when turned on.
Eventually tried to figure out other ways to get in.
Found an (ex?)-queen that is willing to get them into the upcoming Gala in exchange for going on a hunt with her.

♪ "Huh! So... You mean I'm a star, right?" ♪
(⬆️ This line is taken from the special video & mostly likely not in the actual song.)
I'm not sure if I like aespa's "Long Chat (#♥)" yet (since this isn't the full version), but the MV is so funny & quirky. The moment I saw the girls put a piece of fallen popcorn into their version of a mass spectrometer, the R.I.P box, & the gardening pot, I knew this MV would bring lots of laughs. The short interpretation of this MV is that the girls encounter the popcorn alien & befriend him until they can find a way to send him home using the rocket. Not sure what happened in the very end, but Ningning's whining voice (literally this emotion >_<") in response to Winter's "One more time?" is so cute! It seemed like Ningning missed the popcorn alien the most prior to the rocket launch.

Miles Kane, What It's Like to Play as a 'One Man Band'
We met Miles Kane as a founding member of important bands such as the Last Shadow Puppets with Alex Turner of the Arctic Monkeys and the Rascals. In the last several years, the Liverpudlian has been on a solitary path, as the name of his recent release suggests. We spoke with him shortly before his long-awaited return to Athens, at "Arch Club", on Friday 5/17.
How has your tour been going so far?
The concerts so far are incredible. I'm excited to play by myself, so I'm very happy. I think people are relating and connecting with the songs on my new record and it's taking me to places I haven't seen in a long time. And Greece is one of those places.
Can you tell us a few words about how you wrote "One Man Band", your most chart-topping album to date?
The album was created in Liverpool. We worked on it with my cousin James Skelly, who used to be a member of The Coral. We went back home and that gave birth to the desire to make a completely straight album. Writing songs is what I do best, not thinking too much, just talking about my feelings, my worries and how I want to be better. I guess life in general is what "One Man Band" is all about, stomping on some rock'n'roll, surf music. We had a clear idea of what the album and its sound should be and we followed it to the end. This is also the reason why it is my favorite work of all that I have released so far. I feel very proud!
You started a great career by participating in various bands, such as Last Shadow Puppets. What motivated you to follow a more solitary path in recent years?
I've been doing solo stuff since I was 22 and I'm 38 now. I learned so much from the bands I was in, the Rascals and the Little Flames. Being on my own and free to work with whoever I want and do whatever I want – even if it sounds selfish – I think suits me best.
And what's the biggest lesson you've learned from playing as a "One Man Band"?
Not playing with a band is completely different for me. It's a huge challenge and not many could pull it off to be honest. It has made me improve my performance as a guitarist, as a singer and as a performer.
What is the most important experience from this journey?
It may sound cliche but I really had a lot of good times in my career. But I feel that who I am today as a person in life and on stage gives me new meaning and life. At all these smaller concerts where I meet new fans, I realize that the younger generation brings a whole different energy to it all. I feel that the phase I am in now is the happiest of my life. I feel more connected and hope to stay on this "path".
Are you excited to be back in Athens ("Arch Club", 5/17)?
Yes! I think I can't remember the last time I visited Greece because it's been so many years. I hope people come because I plan to give you the best night of your life.
What constitutes a successful live?
A great outfit, some "golden" dance moves and an audience! I need to feel like people want to be involved as much as I want to be. This is the only way we can go to the next level.
What are your plans for the future?
I'm trying to write something new and prepare a new album, but I'm having a hard time doing it right now. I don't want to stop the flow of things. I'm quite a simple person and I know what I like in life... Music. Maybe next year I'll be ready for a new release.
Is there another side project in the works?
We're not working on anything with Alex. [Turner], like Last Shadow Puppets. But I have this new little side project going on called The Evils and it's an instrumental surf idea. We'll see how this goes... [s.s. In the time between the interview and its publication, Kane along with Oscar Sholto Robertson and Dave Bardon released the E.P. "Miles Kane & The Evils".]
Miles Kane's albums in his own words
"Colour of the Trap" (2011)
"The beginning of the adventure, when I was still searching for who I am. This album opened the way for me. You can hear all the different sides of me in it."
"Don't Forget Who You Are" (2013)
"Probably one of the best songs I've ever written [inc. the title]. Something keeps me coming back to it. It's like coming home to the roots for me. Sometimes in life you can get sidetracked and forget who you are. This song defined me as an artist and as a person."
"Coup de Grace" (2018)
"An intense rock'n'roll, punk period! Coming out with such an aggressive album is not as easy as you think."
"Change the Show" (2022)
"My chance to show my love for Northern Soul and Motown...Growing up I listened to everything from Diana Ross and the Four Tops to whatever was on the radio."

Eckwersheim rail accident memorial
On the northern edge of the Strasbourg Metropolitan Area, the high-speed railway line crosses the Marne-to-Rhine Canal (of which I've said quite a lot recently) and curves to the South to join the trunk line into Strasbourg. It was here, on 14 November 2015, in the months prior to this section opening, that a test train derailed catastrophically, killing 11 and injuring 42.
The immediate cause of the derailment was over-speed: the crew had failed to brake in advance of the curve and headed into it 90 km/h faster than they should have. The reasons for this failure are a point of contention; as far as I have understood, the accident report hasn't managed to clearly identify them as there was no voice recorder in the driver's cab. The accident has been in the news recently as the trial of the driving crew and the companies involved has just taken place, with the verdict due to be returned in October.
I have been travelling on the accident tracks for years, and possibly since the first time I took the TGV to Strasbourg in 2017, I have made a note of this particular curve, recognising the red bridges from those terrible pictures from the news, not out of anxiety, but out of awareness of what had taken place. Knowing that a memorial garden sits there, and with the court case wrapping up, I decided to go out and see it in person.
Quite isolated from outside noise by the two elevated train tracks either side, and with the canal and paths ahead, the atmosphere there is indeed very peaceful. A large plaque recalls the event, while 11 stones are scattered around the site for the deceased.
"En hommage aux victimes et aux personnes profondément touchées par l'accident de la rame d'essais du 14 novembre 2015, à celles et ceux qui nous ont quittés"

As of 2024-05-14 at 20:00 EDT, here's the current status of KOSA from congress.gov:
It has reached the House, as H.R. 7891. It is currently in 2 separate committees: Energy and Commerce & Education and the Workforce, and has not had an end date for these assignments set.
It is still in the Senate as Senate Legislative Calendar General Orders number 287.
We must fight against this, because if the GOP manages to convince people that they're sick of Biden, you know Trump's going to us this to shut down every place where queer people come together on the internet. (and where liberal-leaning political discussion happens.) And for those places that aren't shut down, the mandate to collect personal information to prove that we're of age to not be "protected" by this will have a chilling effect on all speech.
So: Call your legislators. Use Congress.gov's legislator lookup tool to find both of your state's senators, and your district's representative. Tell them... I don't know, tell them that you object to your online social spaces being forced to out kids (who might feel safe only in their interactions there) to their parents, when Congress failed to ban "sexual preference conversion therapy". And also that you object to the perfectly foreseeable chilling of free speech and discourse between adults, because of the need to provide proof that you're older than 18, and because the government has dropped the ball and made it so the only way to do so is to provide positive identification including identity theft facilitating, safety removing, doxxable information.
At least, that's what I say to them. There are other posts with links to scripts that you can use, if you don't like mine.
But fight this thing, tooth and nail.
What is the current status of KOSA? As of last night, 2024-04-20, this is what congress.gov had to say about it:
I'm seeing lots of posts fearmongering about how it's passed the Senate and is now in the House.
I've seen coordinated attacks against the democratic process over the past 8+ years. It would not surprise me in the least to learn that this might be part of a coordinated attack to get us to let up pressure on our Senators, letting them think that we're suddenly okay with it.
Please remember that Tumblr can just as easily be used to spread misinformation as Twitter or Facebook or Instagram or TikTok. Check authoritative sources.
What I would do? Call your senators, your representative, and the White House switchboard to leave comments on pending legislation.
The government website says it's still in the Senate. Call your senators to oppose it as a current issue.
Call your representative to oppose it as a heads-up to ensure they are aware of it and your opposition.
Call the White House to ensure that President Biden knows not to sign it if it crosses his desk.
Former President Trump already destroyed 50 years of women's rights, and presided over the initial hysteria of the anti-trans groups. He appointed enough justices to the Supreme Court that we're guaranteed social regression until at least two conservative justices retire and are replaced with new Ruth Bader Ginsbergs. He and the GOP (he is basically synonymous with the GOP, after Laura was elected as co-chair) have done a huge amount of damage to our ways of life and our ability to address climate change and global warming. We need to say that enough is enough, and that they won't deprive us of our abilities to discuss the topics they find uncomfortable and want to prevent any kids from hearing about in any online spaces their kids could possibly stumble into.
OUR LIVES AND EXISTENCE AND CULTURE ARE NOT POLITICAL PAWNS TO BE BARTERED AWAY IN BACKROOM DEALS.
We must stand united, or divided we shall surely perish.
#kosa status 2024 05 14#this tag needs to be updated at least every sunday#kosa bill#kosa status#congress.gov has a bill lookup
