Know your Destiel/Cockles history: a calendar
As a newcomer on Tumblr and on the Supernatural fandom, I first had trouble following all the past events that were regularly reminded and celebrated.
On this very special day (December 14th, European time), the following post is an attempt at listing those events, focusing on Destiel and Cockles (with a hint of Jenmisheel). Feel free to advise me for more (or less) dates!

So...How Old Is Jane, Really?
Following up on this post about some time messiness I've noticed during my rewatch of ST. Again, if this has been talked about before, I haven't seen mention of it. So...bear with me.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
1983, less 5 years, is 1978. That throws an initial wrench into "Terry tried to break El/Jane out of HNL in 1974".
It means all this ought to have happened in 1978:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
However, Becky also says:
Tumblr media
Terry has had Jane's nursery put up for 12 years. That means Jane should have been born in 1971, which means Jane should have been seven years old when Terry broke into HNL, which aligns well enough with El in ST4 being 7 years old mid-1979:
Tumblr media
Okay, so let's say Terry did break into HNL in 1978 rather than 1974. What's the big whoop?
Well. The little blonde girl in Kali's rainbow room was played by Clara/Charlotte Ward, both of whom were 3-4 years old at the time (born 2013, ST2 was released in 2017).
So it's either Terry broke into HNL around 1974, saw 3-4 year old Jane (1971), and has been mind-broken for about 7 years, with Jane being 12 years old in 1983...or Terry broke into HNL in 1978, saw 3-4 year old Jane (1975), and has been mind-broken for 5 years, with Jane being 9 years old in 1983.
Someone's lying here...or mistaken.
This begs the question, at least from my end:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What if I've been thinking about it the wrong way? What if there's more than one Jane, rather than one Jane and one El?
What if we're dealing with two different Janes, one of whom is El?
So...what if this blonde girl is some other Jane, a girl who's years younger than Becky's Jane (1971)? This girl would have been born around 1975, which is congruent with one of the newspaper articles El leafs through in ST2 about Terry and baby Jane:
Tumblr media
"...culminating in the abduction of Ives' baby daughter in the mid-1970s."
1971 is not the mid-1970s. The mid 1970s is 1974-1976. If Jane was born and abducted in the mid-1970s, then Terry's break-in would have to be after that point. So...Definitely not 1974. It's not physically possible, and it's not plausible, either, given the dates I laid out above from Becky. It's more likely to be around 1978.
This is later corroborated by the newspaper article we see during Terry's dream circle, when she's retrieving her gun from the safe:
Tumblr media
"...as a special inquiry into a covert CIA operation, code-named MK Ultra, has expanded the extensive details about that which has been haunting the nation for the past decade."
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
MK Ultra was revealed to the public at large in 1975-1976, which means Terry could not have been retrieving her gun to break in before 1975 while also having this article exist the way it does.
The newspaper shown in that screenshot simply cannot exist before June 11th, 1975. It is physically impossible, given that MK Ultra is mentioned by name. Terry could not have broken in in 1974.
Additionally, the fact that the article mentions an expansion of details, especially when paired with that the article specifically says "that which has been haunting the nation for the past decade", leads me to believe it may have been written closer to 1977:
Tumblr media
...given that MK Ultra was officially halted in 1972:
Tumblr media
...meaning that any article written around 1977-1978 would have been referencing about a decade's worth of material/the nation would have been haunted by a) an article on other non-MK Ultra CIA operations published in December of 1974, b) the Rockefeller Commission's report in 1975, c) the Church Committee's report in 1976, and d) the FOIA discovery in 1977—in other words, as I said, events from the majority of the 1970s, aka "the past decade".
This same text (though in a different article...what is this, their Lorem Ipsum? Look how they duplicated the right-most paragraphs in the pic below) can be seen in ST1 as well:
Tumblr media
We can even see both Richard and Martin Brenner being named in these texts, both of which create a network of "Jane was born in the mid-1970s, meaning Terry could not have come looking for her before the mid-1970s" and "MK Ultra was revealed to the public in 1975, meaning Terry could not have broken in before 1975 at the very earliest", which means regardless of which Brenner you're reading about...Terry broke in later than the fandom has been assuming.
This leads me to believe, given a lack of solid contradictory evidence, that Terry did, in fact, break in around 1978.
This is corroborated by the accessory comic Six, which states that Terry broke in in 1978. Accessory comics and novels, while not strictly canon, have been known to have small canon details peppered in before those things actually appear in canon (like Will seeing what appears to be Vecna's mindscape in a comic released years before ST4).
Tumblr media
Terry could not have broken in before June of 1975, and yet...fandom wiki says 1974. And based on what?
An Instagram post.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When the actual show explicitly says differently? This is why we don't blindly trust the Wiki, kids. It doesn't tell the full truth.
Canon says Terry broke in after 1975. Canon specifically says she broke in circa 1978.
Anyway, the real questions remain:
Was Jane 6-7 in 1978, or was she 3-4?
Was Jane 11-12 in 1983, or was she 8-9?
Will Jane be 15-16 come 1987, or will she be 12-13?
The answer is...yes! (depending on which Jane you're referring to)
Which circles me right back around to the usual culprits.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Which like. Let me cook, ok?
An age gap of 12-13 (actor age)
Tumblr media
and 15-16 (character age)?
Tumblr media
Plus, some other bits and bobs linking Nell to Jane:
Alice in Wonderland
Casting and Costuming choices #1
Casting and Costuming choices #2
I'm wondering if I wasn't more correct here, here, and here than I originally thought.

“I have no place to take myself except painting.” – Miyoko Ito, 1978.
Miyoko Ito (1918–1983) was a Japanese American painter, born in Berkeley, California, and was active in Chicago where she studied at the Art Institute of Chicago.
When the World War II began in 1941 in the United States with the attack on Pearl Harbor, Ito was studying art at University of California, Berkeley. She was a senior scheduled to graduate in May 1942. In April 1942, Ito married Harry Ichiyasu to avoid being separated during the wartime incarceration of Japanese Americans. Her husband was president of the senior class of the Japanese constituency at UC Berkeley. They were married on April 11th, but by the end of April they were sent to Tanforan internment camp near San Francisco, and later sent to Topaz under an Executive Order signed by Franklin D. Roosevelt. Ito received her diploma while she was in the internment camp, then received a grant to attend a graduate program at Smith College. She stayed there for one year before going on to study at the Art Institute of Chicago. Ito said she cried when she opened her diploma. She graduated with highest honors.
Miyoko Ito was hardly unknown during her lifetime, though she gained some attention and was granted residency fellowships at MacDowell in New Hampshire. It was there that she experienced “the meaning of full expression in the conductive environment,” she wrote in her “Plan of Work” in 1983. She continued, “I would like to escape the heretofore stifling condition of low ceiling, dim daylight, and inadequate floor space” of her bedroom studio in her house.
This publication, “Miyoko Ito: Heart of Hearts” is the first book dedicated to the life and work of Miyoko Ito, long overdue for this artist.

December 2024 Important Dates
Tumblr media
AKA my notes on The Astrology Podcast's December Forecast, hosted by Chris Brennan and Austin Coppock. We're entering this month fresh off a Mercury retrograde, which is fitting for my delay in posting. I'll be skipping the events recap for now. Aside from the Planetary Alignments Calendar above, here is a graph of planetary transits:
Tumblr media
December 1st - New Moon in Sagittarius The New Moon today sets the tone for the month. In this case the Moon moves to a square with Saturn right afterwards, bringing a somber tone, and Mercury retrograde doesn't help clear anything up. The lights also trine a slow, temperamental Mars and conjoin fiery fixed star Antares ("lesser Mars"), bringing a combative component.
December 5th - Mercury Cazimi This marks a renewal of Mercury's cycle and brings a wrapping-up energy for the remainder of the retrograde:
Tumblr media
December 6th - Mars Retrograde
Tumblr media
The last Mars rx in Leo was from December of 2009 to March of 2010, so events in our personal lives from 15 years ago may resurface, repeat, or rhyme. In general, Mars is closest to Earth in its orbit, making it brighter in the sky and visible for larger portions of the night. At the heart of its retrograde, Mars will rise when the Moon does. Austin describes it as "maximum Mars, but nothing is moving"--the topics are still there, but things aren't moving forward like we want them to. Pluto (♒) opposing Mars (♑) during this time (January 3rd, April 27th) brings us an impulse towards extremes: destruction, obsession, and not letting go despite the high cost to ourselves.
Not only will this hit the Leo houses of our charts, but it draws in the previous house containing Cancer as well. For example, a Scorpio rising may experience this in the 10th and 9th houses--first there is an issue of career (10th), but they realize it's actually about their philosophy and values (9th), and then return their focus to career (10th) with things making more sense. This can also play literally as a "duderang" effect where men, masculine people, and other Mars figures bounce back into our lives (especially if it's in a relationship house like the 5th/7th, or aspecting the rulers of these).
On a broader scale, historical parallels may be drawn with other Mars in Leo retrogrades: December 1945 - February 1946, and December 1977 - March 1978 (in addition to December '09 - March '10). This is a weird one because the next Mars rx is not 15 years down the road, but just a few: January - April 2027. Events now will be previews of things soon to come. Additionally, Mars normally spends around a month and a half in each sign, so the retrograde making him spend an inordinate amount of time there sets the tone for us for the next few years--how do I direct my drive and ambitions in this area of life?
December 7th - Venus enters Aquarius, Sun conjunct Jupiter, Neptune Direct This puts Venus in a rough position, as she immediately conjoins Pluto and then applies to an opposition with Mars until the 11th-12th. It'll be easy to see the worst aspects of relational dynamics between Pluto's paranoid power plays and Mars's aggression, taking Venus's chill temporarily off the table...but it's only for a week!
December 14th - Auspicious Electional Chart (not pictured)
Tumblr media
At around 11:20AM local time, the Ascendant should be in the early degrees of Pisces rising. This is the most fortunate chart in the month for new ventures and undertakings, with a Pisces Ascendant ruled by a 4th-house Gemini Jupiter, who in turn is in mutual reception with Sagittarius Mercury about to station direct. (Generally dates after this will start to be more auspicious because of the direct Mercury.) There's also an auspicious Moon-Jupiter conjunction about about 15 Gemini, meanwhile Venus is separating from Mars difficulties and applying to boons with Jupiter (even though she's in the 12th house, a sextile from 10th-house Mercury mitigates this). This election is especially good for 4th house topics like home, family, and privacy. As an angular but invisible house, the 4th house can be likened to the director's chair: a vital and influential player who's behind the camera rather than directly visible on-screen. There is also good for more public 10th house topics.
December 15th - Full Moon in Gemini, Mercury Direct This connotes positive motion in Mercury retrograde topics, and Venus further brings in some positive energy with a sextile to Mercury now that she's free from being squeezed between Pluto & Mars. She's also applying to a trine with Jupiter.
Tumblr media
The Full Moon (23♊) squares Neptune (27♓), so despite Mercury's direct motion we may still have issues with communication. Things are being said, but what do they mean? Where are we actually going? Luckily, Mercury will oppose retrograding Jupiter on the 26th with mutual reception.
December 19th - Venus Trine Jupiter (not pictured) With Mercury direct some of the chaos has died down, so the middle of the month is a nice reprieve from some of the difficult events earlier.
December 21st - Sun enters Capricorn
December 24th - Retrograde Jupiter Squares Saturn Mercury further activates this exact square by hitting an opposition to Jupiter (13♊) on the 26th and a square to Saturn (14♓) on the 27th. This marks the first quarter/waxing square phase of the Jupiter-Saturn conjunction cycle which began in December of 2020. Chris predicts there will be another economic issue manifesting these themes of growth vs. contraction--though it's not until we see the final hit in June that we'll know exactly what this has all been about.
December 30th - New Moon in Capricorn By now Mars has regressed back to 01-02♌, putting him in a prime position to oppose Pluto (01♒). This lunation really bakes in this signature for the next (lunar) month. There's a temptation to take things too far here. Power from behind the scenes also comes into play, like billionaires censoring media platforms they own according to personal preferences and agendas.

Coming in November 2024
For the past four years, I have spent November publishing one story from different fandoms on a daily basis over at archiveofourown.org under my pen name "Sehin" from the 1st to the 30th. The first time was simply whatever I came up with on the day and no editing whatsoever. Since then, I've been planning ahead of time and last year I spent October writing all of them. I have continued that trend for this year too and am rather excited with the stories I have set up this year.
The stories range from fluff to AUs to canon compliant to my personal headcanons to OC inserts to the Explicit Smut I know quite a few people enjoy. What I most enjoy are any comments people make and I love sharing stuff with others. Heck, those encourage me more to write more than anything else and even change some of what I've been writing. I can only edit so much personally despite having a Cert IV in Professional Writing and Editing myself and had studied most of the Diploma before life sent me in another direction.
As to this years chosen stories, well here is what is coming each day this year (at least as of October 10th 2024 and this may change but I'll just add to this post in advance):
1st - Naruto 2nd - Avatar: The Last Airbender 3rd - DC Comics / Batman / Robin / Red Robin 4th - Soul Eater 5th - Attack on Titan 6th - Star Trek: The Original Series 7th - My Hero Academia 8th - Ben 10 / Ben 10: Alien Force 9th - Battlestar Galactica 1978-1979 10th - Star Wars 11th - Naruto 12th - Avatar: The Legend of Korra 13th - DC Comics 14th - Mobile Suit Gundam Wing 15th - Attack on Titan 16th - Star Trek: Deep Space Nine 17th - Marvel Comics 18th - Ben 10 / Ben 10: Alien Force 19th - Battlestar Galactica 2003-2009 20th - Star Wars 21st - Naruto (Explicit) 22nd - Avatar: The Legend of Korra (Explicit or Mature) 23rd - DC Comics / Batman / Robin / Red Robin (Explicit) 24th - Soul Eater (Explicit or Mature) 25th - Attack on Titan (Explicit) 26th - Neon Genesis Evangelion: Campus Apocalypse (Explicit or Mature) 27th - TBA * 28th - Ben 10 / Ben 10: Alien Force (Explicit or Mature) 29th - Shadowhunter Chronicles / The Dark Artifices (Explicit or Mature) 30th - Star Wars **
Initially the 27th was a Mobile Suit Gundam Wing story with Mature or Explicit material but it wasn't working in my head so it's scrapped. Still working out what could take its place. Also, I never write Explicit or Mature Star Wars stories, unless it involves Luke Skywalker and Mara Jade since I favour that pairing like crazy.
Anyway, keep an eye out and I'll post the "Series" tag here when I begin. See you November 1st on AO3 as Sehin :).

Touga and Saionji met Utena by finding her in a coffin. Though they weren’t able to convince her to leave the casket on that rainy night. The next day, those two noticed a certain look in the girl’s eyes. Seeing something has changed in Utena that neither of them couldn’t do for her.
Utena’s parent’s died in an accident, leaving her orphaned. On that rainy night, she lost the will to live. Until she subconsciously met Akio/Dios and Anthy. From that fateful encounter, Utena found her strength to live. The next day, Utena attends the funeral with her legal guardian. Her aunt named Yurika, who chose to take her in.
Aunt Yurika stated, “Utena’s parents died when she was six. I was still young myself… and I couldn’t explain it to her.” Meaning that Yurika must have been 21 years old at the time. However, an age requirement on becoming a legal guardian to someone’s child is 18 and above.

Until Ruka swam to Juri in attempts to rescue her. The next day, bad news occurred at Ohtori Private Academy Hospital. Juri wakes up from the hospital bed, finding out that Ruka died saving her. She can hear it from Shiori’s cries, asking why he would that for Juri.

This would most likely be assumptions and a bit of headcanon. Unless anyone reading this have the actual manga version of Revolutionary Girl Utena, then you won’t have any idea what I’m talking about.

January 15th 1948 saw the birth of one of Scotland's best long distance runners Ian Stewart.
Not your typical Scot, he was was born in Handsworth, Birmingham the third of six children of John and Mary Stewart. After the two eldest children (Carol and Peter) were born in Scotland, the family relocated from Musselburgh to Mary's native Birmingham in 1948, his father was Scottish and he chose to run for Scotland.
To many particularly of a certain age in Scotland, Ian Stewart is best remembered for his magnificent victory in the 5,000 metres at the 1970 Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh. In front of his "home" crowd at Meadowbank Stadium, the 21-year-old defeated Ian McCafferty and two legendary world distance stars, Kipchoge Keino and Ron Clarke in a European record time.
The year before on 11th June 1969 at Reading, Ian and his older brother Peter became the first brothers in the world to break the four minutes barrier for the one-mile in a race won by fellow Scotsman, Ian McCafferty. Ian Stewart clocked 3 mins 57.3 secs, four-tenths of a second ahead of Peter.
Although he brought home a bronze medal from the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich, Stewart was deeply disappointed at both his performance and how the final had been run. On 8th May 1977 Stewart produced arguably his most remarkable athletics performance when he got away from the field in the first mile to complete the Michelin ten miles Road race in Staffordshire in a time of 45 minutes 13 seconds. Because the time was so unusually fast, the race organisers remeasured the course and found it to be the correct distance.
Three of the siblings won European Athletics titles, surely a remarkable fete in itself. His sister, Mary, also born in Birmingham, won the gold medal in the 1500 metres at the 1977 European Indoor Championship in San Sebastián. She represented England and won a gold medal in the 1,500 metres event, at the 1978 Commonwealth Games in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

Fleetwood Mac - Brown Eyes
"Brown Eyes" the first song that McVie presented to the group for the Tusk album, having done so in April 1978 at the band's rehearsal on Mulholland Drive. The song's structure consisted of three chords across two verses and a wordless chorus. McVie originally claimed that the song was about her dog, although she later confided in Ken Caillat that the song was about Dennis Wilson, who actually had green eyes.
During the song's initial tracking, Mick Fleetwood played a full drum kit and employed rim clicks on his snare drum, Lindsey Buckingham used his white Alembic electric guitar through a volume pedal, Christine McVie played a Yamaha electric piano, and John McVie played a bass guitar through an amplifier as opposed to the band's usual method of sending the bass directly to the mixing console. The backing vocals were not conducted until October 11th, so Stevie Nicks instead danced in the control room as the rest of the band recorded their parts. Additional vocal overdubs were recorded in early December.
Caillat characterized "Brown Eyes" as "a simple song with lots of space that made huge demands on the rhythm section and the melody instruments to fill it with color and ambiance." The band ultimately completed 37 takes before settling on their master recording. During the recording process, Dennis Wilson was present in the control room and provided opinions on how to approach the song, although several people, including Fleetwood and John McVie, dismissed these ideas.
Peter Green, a founding member of the band, also took part in the sessions for "Brown Eyes", but his guitar playing on the track is not credited on the original album release. Mick Fleetwood, the band's drummer, remembered that Green still remained in contact with the band and occasionally joined them in the studio. At Fleetwood's request, Green overdubbed electric guitar on "Brown Eyes", although his playing was only included on the fade-out for the official release. The full recording session, dated 20 September 1979, appears on disc three of the 2015 deluxe edition of Tusk, which contains alternate recordings of the album's 20 tracks. This version has McVie singing different lyrics to those on the original album.
In a 1999 interview with The Penguin, Green said that he had no recollection of the recording session, which he attributed to his deteriorating health in the 1970s, but said there was still a possibility that he played on it. Buckingham also did not recall the sessions taking place. “I don’t remember Peter Green coming in, so I don’t think I made any judgement on whether to use [his part] or not. Mick would ultimately have had the decision to use his playing or not. And it was Christine’s song to do with as she wished.“ However, Caillat recalled in his 2019 book, Get Tusked, that Buckingham was unpleased with Green's blues guitar licks, so his parts were muted with the exception of the outro.

Pleased To Meet You
Tumblr media
The Birthdays HC edition!
🧡 Happy Birthday, PTMY Gabrielle 🧡
My girl was born on March 19th 🥳
And her name is Gabrielle. Gabrielle Tourneur.
Tumblr media
(👆🏻from the movie I Walked with a Zombie (1943), directed by Jacques Tourneur)
@dreamymyrrh asked me why I picked this name, and here's why: it's a French name I've always been fascinated by (certainly with a little bit of envy).
For some reason, to me, it sounds both mysterious and sexy, with a hint of sadness, but full of promises. The hard consonant at the beginning asserts her inner strength, and the "elle" sound at the end ("elle" means "she" in French) is very feminine.
(@nicolethered I still can't believe you named her Elle before you even knew it was part of her name. I immediately HC that it's how Will calls her. Ilysm it hurts, seriously)
And well, Gabrielle feels neither mysterious nor sexy. But mysterious she is, to Benny, who doesn't really understand her, even if he loves her blindly. And sexy she is to Frankie, especially. But not mysterious, because he's a part of her, and she's a part of him. A safe, soothing part of themselves. The one they know best. The one they need most.
Jacques Tourneur (1904-1977) is one of my favourite directors, and his I Walked With A Zombie (1943) one of my favourite movies (check it out if you've never seen it). With her (necessary) penchant for dissociation, Gabrielle might have been living most of her life outside of herself, or rather, buried deep inside... So I thought the nod was very fitting.
But that last name will play a part in the epilogue, so I should be quiet now, but not until I've thanked you all who have welcomed her and who give me your support, which I appreciate more than words can say 🧡
Bonus:

The Tomorrow People Master Post
Previously on Cult TV Blog...
I did just a handful of posts on the 1970s children's series The Tomorrow People (you can see them here: https://culttvblog.blogspot.com/search/label/The%20Tomorrow%20People?m=1). I also did this 'master post' about the series purely to try to get my head round it. Since I'm no longer blogging on blogspot I thought it would be useful (hopefully for others too) to copy the post here.
This 'master' post is therefore predominantly an attempt to get a grasp on the amorphous mass of the series in my own head and keep track of what I have already written about. One of the difficulties that have stopped me writing about this show is that it is basically a different show from beginning to end, and is at best patchy. Additionally as said above some of the things on the show would not appear in TV today and I can't begin to think what they were thinking. If I have some personal rude remarks to say about an episode which don't deserve a full post, I may put them here.
Another thing which has always confused me is that although I now have the complete set in one box, region 2 releases have taken two different trajectories, one released in series and the other released in adventures.
Series 1
Slaves of Jedikiah (five episodes) broadcast 30th April to 4th June 1973.
The Medusa Strain (four episodes) broadcast 11th June to 2nd July 1973.
The Vanishing Earth (four episodes) broadcast 9th to 30th July 1973.
Series 2
The Blue and The Green (four episodes) broadcast 4th February to 4th March 1974.
A Rift in Time (four episodes) broadcast 11th March to 1st April 1974
The Doomsday Men (four episodes) broadcast 8th April to 6th May 1974.
Series 3
Secret Weapon (four episodes) broadcast 26th February to 19th March 1975
Worlds Away (three episodes) broadcast 26th March to 9th April 1975.
A Man for Emily (three episodes) broadcast 16th to 30th April 1975.
Revenge of Jedikiah (three episodes, but with such a similar name no wonder I was confused) broadcast 7th to 21st May 1975.
Series 4
One Law (3 episodes) broadcast 21st October to 5th November 1975.
Into the Unknown (four episodes) broadcast 7th to 28th January 1976.
Series 5
The Dirtiest Business (two episodes) broadcast 28th February to 7th March 1977.
A Much Needed Holiday (two episodes) broadcast 14th to 21st March 1977. This is the one with the slave children and the Jimmy Savile impression. 😳
youtube
The Heart of Sogguth (two episodes) broadcast 28thMarch to 4th April 1977.
Series 6
The Lost Gods (two episodes) broadcast 15th to 22nd May 1978.
Hitler's Last Secret (two episodes) broadcast 5th to 12th June 1978.
The Thargon Menace (two episodes) broadcast 19th to 26th June 1978.
Series 7
Castle of Fear (two episodes) broadcast 9th to 16th October 1978.
Achilles Heel (two episodes) broadcast 23rd to 30th October 1978.
Living Skins (two episodes) broadcast 6th to 11th November 1978.
Series 8
War of the Empires (four episodes) broadcast 29th January to 19th February 1979.
The reason for my confusion will be readily evident from the names of the different adventures. Some have similar names and others have names similar to other series and fictional works, including H P Lovecraft. The show evidently gave itself an ability to venture into all sorts of subjects and times, real and fictional. Looking at the titles it comes across as a less orderly Dr Who. No wonder I'm confused!
