1145am. everything is so still. has it really been more than a month where the sky is gloomy? time flies so fast. i still have time before my student council duties so i’m downloading lonely planet: vietnam. it’s a series of books that was established by a white couple who like to travel. the lonely was a typographical error from lovely. it looked good so they retained it. [the lonely planet: country of choice] i’m going to download cambodia too because these are the countries i saved up for last 2022. the countries i have yet to explore. that is, if my mom returned my savings. //

morning — a quiet one. two people eating sunny side up eggs and toasted bread. threw in some embutido (a grounded pork wrapped around a cut hotdog and egg inside) and atsara. the atsara has always been a favorite of filipinos. never intended as a main dish, but as a significant side dish because of its rich flavour which goes along with almost any meal. espresso latte in a huge mug, a real comfort. mornings and breakfasts are just some of the best pleasures in life. //

thinking of using my camera more. for my creative pursuits this year, i would like to include writing. not a proper prose, but probably snippets of my thoughts — the kind you write down on a piece of tissue when you don’t have a pen and paper on hand when at a restaurant, but you have these thoughts. thoughts that you could scoop up on your hands. //

Thoughts at 1145am...

I hate driving, y’all know this... if any of you know me, you know I hate driving.

But, with W, I drive a lot lol.

Today, we’re going driving again :) We might stop, we might not, but the goal is to see what we can see.

Last time it was a trip down PCH to Newport Beach. Today we’re gonna take a trip down ocean and shoreline drive and see the beaches and shops and stuff.

I did ask on Nextdoor (great idea btw) and we found some new flea/swap meets to try on the upcoming weekends! That should be fun too!

so yesterday i woke up at 830am, dozed on and off until 10am, and then caught a nap from 1pm to 430pm, during which i woke once for about 15 minutes. THEN u stayed awake until 10am today, and...woke up again at 1145am. it's currently 130pm and i haven't been able to fall back asleep. at what point do i just accept this and get out of bed to play more zelda i can't stand laying here anymore!!!!!!!

Solo Ride to Botolan Zambales

The date is 2023-06-10. I woke up at around 0200AM. It was Saturday and we were going to Zambales for an overnight stay at some resort. My family and some friends were travelling in a car and I wanted to ride my way there. I was not sure days ago if I will push through as reports say the weather there is not good. I believe it would be rainy but within the past days, the rain just happens in the afternoon and it falls for around an hour or so.

So I wake up and prepared to take off. I planned to take off at around 0400AM but ended up at around 0500AM coz I am still feeling my zone if I would still push through with it or not.

So much to my excitement, minutes after I took off, I felt the rush of the ride and to how will I fair with it. The last time I visited some place north on a motorcycle was May of 2017. I had issues with that ride and now I came prepared, or so I thought.

I did not stop until I reached Pampanga Welcome Arch. And I was not aware that I am already there had it not been because of the arch. All I was looking at was the direction and had no idea where I really am.

This is the Pampanga Arch in MacArthur Hwy Calumpit Bulacan. Arrived in this spot at around 0745AM. This is where I made my first stop. I went down and stretched my legs and feeling my butt cause it is hurting from that long ride. I had Hansel biscuits with me and Sting inside a thermos with ice inside so I will have something cold to drink. Also, had water with me just in case. After a short break and took a picture of the arch, I went on my way.

The next stop was at Rotonda Sto Domingo Mexico Pampanga and I arrived there at around 0830AM.

The next stop was at San Fernando Welcome Arch along Manila National Rd MacArthur Hwy in San Fernando Pampanga and I arrived there at around 0830AM.

The next stop was at World War II Last Stand Memorial along Jose Abad Santos Ave in Dinalupihan Bataan and I arrived there at around 0955AM.

The next stop was at Subic Zambales Arch along Olongapo Bugallon Rd in River Zambales and I arrived there at around 1115AM.

I passed through some familiar places there from my 2017 ride. I wanted to stop over and take a break there since that was the stop where I took a break from my past ride. Maybe next time, since I was kind of a in a tight schedule.

Somewhere along the way, I had to gas up and wanted to check on how far I am still from my destination. I was surprised I still had a long way to go and had to refill my tank for this one, just to be sure since I still had two bars on my dashboard but no way of knowing if there is a Petron gas station further.

After a full tank and stretching, I went on my way. My butt is really sore at this point of the ride. My breaks were just that one in Pampanga Arch, those picture taking of the arches and this gas stop.

The next stop was at San Marcelino Arch along Olongapo Bugallon Rd in San Marcelino Zambales and I arrived there at around 1145AM.

The next stop was at San Narciso Welcome Arch Olongapo Bugallon Rd San Narciso Zambales and I arrived there at around 1155AM. Minutes after I took off from here is where the weather got pretty bad. It rained for quite a while but not to a point that I had to stop and take cover. Though I really don’t do that in a rainy day since I kind of like the splash of the rain and wind when I ride.

The next stop was at San Felipe Arch located along Olongapo Bugallon Rd in San Felipe Zambales and I arrived there at around 1210AM.

At last, the last stop is C&J Sunset View Resort along Felmida Rd located in Botolan Zambales and I arrived there at around 1250PM. I was not able to check in further since I have to wait for the rest of the guys to arrive. I have no idea on what details to provide at the reception or whatsoever needed here in our stay. Good thing it was only about ten to fifteen minutes of waiting when they arrived.

Nothing much was going on. I was focused on how I will dry everything from my ride since I did rushed through the rain on the last hour of my ride coming to this place. I had the opportunity to do so when they went out and ate lunch. 

I always carry a set of hangers on my rides. I was kind of brainy for this one since there was no clothesline on where I can hand these guys. Those belts where for my top box and also a strap for my tail bag. It somewhat looks like this.

There was not much activity during my stay, and if there was any, I’d still be found at the room sleeping or just laying. I always waited until everyone is back and when the sun begins to go down. Unfortunately, I was not able to do so since it rained so hard on that afternoon.

Most of the family and friends were on their rooms. They were feeling tired after that travel from Manila. I already had enough rest but since I am unable to go around and do stuff, I went ahead and fix some of my stuff for tomorrow’s take off.

At night, we just had dinner from Jolibee. There was not much options in the resort so they had to go out and buy somewhere and ended up buying food in Jolibee. I have no complaints because I do love Jolibee. HAHAHA

If I remember correctly, I slept at around 1000PM to 1100PM. I was not sure since after eating, I laid on our bed. I shared a bed with my mom. I think I was so tired and I slept it off that night.

I woke around 0600AM. It was kind of cloudy but it’s not raining so it’s a good sign to go around and take a look at the place and take pictures.

Honestly, the place is great. If only some of the guests are not that loud. Some were shouting words. I am wondering if they normally talk like that or if the sea level is making their hearing impaired and they had to shout out words so they can hear themselves. Anyways, that was their pool places and below is there front beach.

The waves are kind of scary. I had no plans in swimming but looking at it is enough for me. It feels relaxing. I had to go back and bring some smoke with me and just stare at the horizon.

I took some pictures and recorded some videos for uploading. Fortunately, I did capture some of the family and friends doing their stuff.

We had breakfast at around 0800AM. I had scrambled eggs and tocino. And after eating, I made coffee, went to our room and grabed a couple of smokes so I can go back at the beach and stare at it again.

Its really is relaxing, just looking at sea. The horizon where the sea stretches. The clouds moving and winds roaring. The waves splashing at each other and the sand. If only I can stay around for more but I had to go back. Maybe sometime again in the future.

I already prepared everything before I went out so there was little preparation to do. It rained a little and my mom was kind of worried but I assured her that it will be fine. Mother is really a worrisome person to a ridiculous point but she’s a mother so, it’s understandable.

I took of at around past 0900AM. From there on out, I was not able to record anything or take pictures since it started raining heavily. I was expecting the rain to just fall for around a couple of minutes but it long enough that I had to take cover. I was kind of worried at the gadgets I had installed and inside some bags that do not have any rain cover so I had to stop and take cover.

I took cover at that AMA Computer College building. I was fortunate enough that there were no cars parked and I had ample time to rest. The rain was heavy and there was no signs of stopping. I took off when it turned down but I am expecting to still experience heavy fall on the way.

Surely enough, it rained continuously. I had to push through it all since I was riding through slopes and there were no spaces to make a stop. It was raining to hard that I had a hard time looking at the map in my phone which is open under the rain. I need to buy a rain cover for the phone for this kind of scenario in the future. I really thought that I had to say good bye to my phone because of this but alas, it is still alive as of this writing.

I had some troubles on the way home. The roads that I had to ride on were kind of dangerous for motorcycles. There were some road improvements being made. I can’t pin point where exactly but it is in the National Road between Guiginto Bulacan and Valenzuela. I also had to ride through some flooded parts since I think the places in these areas are so low some establishments had to close down during the heavy rains because everything is flooded. I would not live in this parts if I were me. The dirt I had to clean every time I had to travel in these areas is troublesome. 

I was relieved to see some familiar places when I arrived somewhere in the Metro. As soon as I recognized the roads of Binondo, I said to myself

“I am almost home”

It sure is a relief. The weather here was better but I was already drenched in rain water. I can even feel water in my shoes and under wear. HAHAHA

My mind was concentrated on going home so there were no images or recordings taken but I did make a final stop somewhere in the C5 Southlink near Multinational Village. I had to enjoy a moment of the gruesome ride I did for that day. I smoked a couple of sticks and drank my last Sting drink. I did a couple of stretches to ease some of my tense joints. I then took out my action camera positioned it and looked at my phone. My action cam and phone are connected so it works like a remote control.

I had to take a selfie for this one. I hope for more solo rides to come. I do hope the weather would be nice.

Hello! Well, you sent me this days ago LOL so I hope you're feeling better by now <3

So, if it's anything like today, I woke up at 8am, scrolled through my phone for half and hour, and went back to bed until about 11am. Slowly got out of bed, ate breakfast around 1145am, and it's almost 1230pm now and I'm thinking about lunch. (It'll be later when I finish writing and then I'm getting lunch!)

I'm gonna guess most days I can't get away with that with Levi? LOL this is rare for me I'm just go sleepy.

ANYway, maybe we go out for breakfast instead of having it in because we're headed out and we don't have to cook and do dishes this way. So Levi explains to the waitress how EXACTLY he likes his tea and it's 'not terrible' according to him which is as good as anyone is going to get haha. We get pancakes and fruit and oatmeal and juice and some banana bread to take with us to snack on in the car.

We're driving about an hour and a half away to go to a blueberry festival! There's some smaller carnival like rides, which we probably skip, but we are not passing by the farm animals! Levi says their dirty but after begging and washing my hands he buys me an overpriced bag of carrots to feed them. He doesn't join in but snaps a picture because it's kind of cute that a goat is making me so happy. Hands are washed three times afterwards until I start complaining.

There's things for kids like tractor rides and bounce houses, and games for adults, like the one where Levi shows off his strength and skills wins me stuffed animals :D At midday there's also a couple shows indoors, like a renaissance one and also a dog show, and a talent contest! We stick around a little bit but keep moving.

There's vendors selling handmade items that are very lovely like purses and dresses and hats, coasters and painting and jewelry, and we admire but don't get too much, except for one large purchase of two wooden rocking chairs for our front porch that we have saved for us.

Then, the food vendors?! Ooohhhh man! We leave with a blueberry pie, jam and a couple other things. We eat up some blueberry ice cream while we're there because it's getting warm and it's really yummy!

There's contests too, and I talk Levi into letting me enter the pie eating contest. Am I going to win? No. But I'll have fun coming in third! I'm a complete mess afterwards and Levi threatens to leave me here when I run around trying to kiss him before cleaning up (he wouldn't though, I don't think lol)

And you can buy pounds of blueberries but why do that when you can pick your own? So we grab a bucket and get out there! Some has been picked through already but we manage to almost fill the bucket and get 7 pounds! Most of it's going in the freezer for future use but some stays out for snacking and smoothies and stuff.

Eventually the sun is going down so we lug all our stuff to the car and have another trip to get the rocking chairs in somehow.

It's been a good day but lots of sun has us sleepy so we splurge one more time and order out on the way home and eat after we put it away and are in bed early. It's been a nice day together :)

In the morning we have the new rocking chairs out on the front porch with a pot of tea just the way we like it, and a bowl of blueberry oatmeal. Sunrise is in a few minutes and this is our new favorite way to spend the morning. We can always nap later :)

Okay well thank you for letting me be self indulgent! That's the first thing that popped into my mind. Maybe next week we're head somewhere different hehe

2pm start shift at gmt first thing wedding coordinator panicking about event staff not having any of her wedding set up and cant locate them +gretchen panicking with her while i make phone calls and track it all down check off list gretchen at lunch i fix her mistakes on orders she comes back she talks a lot i make two rose arrangements i go on lunch and lay in the sun in the garden i come back she leaves i shop online i restock glasses i restock bottles i refold clothes i help mary alice (mother of the bride of one of four weddings of the day) put together an order she does not plan on paying for until monday i put together majority of an order for monday the 18th (chocolates,wine,giftbasket,etc) i prep orders for next morning (roses, giftwrapping, etc) i get mocked by hammered woman for looking tired as she keeps shopping after she knows we've closed i am not allowed to tell other customers we have closed but she already told them, i sweep i restock, i sit down and wait then i ask if they are playing a joke on me they pretend to not know whT im talking about i take deep breaths i count my ddrawer and adjust it and then i lock the gates and go help close other shop and vent to coworkers who also had deranged customers today, my whhole body is fatigued i write this in parking lot bc anxious to leave and be home

i must write this down because i don’t want to forget the crazy parts

first, my parents are both 80 years old and both are ok mentally, but not as sharp as they used to be.  that’s part of life.

on Wednesday, my parents met with the orthopedic surgeon and he said yes, i want to do surgery on Mom’s shoulder on Thursday.  

they get orders from the doctor and go to the hospital

hospital checks out orders and gets everything ready but writes on the instructions that they will call with surgery time.  

about 530pm on Wednesday, my Dad is concerned because they don’t know what time to be at the hospital.  we start making phone calls and are unable to get her surgery time.  we talk to someone at the hospital and they tell us that Mom is not on the schedule for Thursday.

Thursday morning, calling frantically.  get in touch with orthopedic doctor’s office and they call hospital and get Mom on schedule for 11am.  a few minutes later the time is moved up to 9am.

 Mom arrives at 9am.  she goes to the ready room about 1030am.  surgery starts about 1130am.  surgery goes well.  in recovery about 2pm.  about 430 pm, her oxygen level is too low to release her so they send her to a room around 530pm to stay overnight

i bring food to my sister who is going to stay overnight and i pick up my Dad.  my sister comes down to get the food.  my Mom is eating pudding and sitting in the bed and also has some crackers she can eat

when my sister returns to the room, my Mom has taken a bar of deodorant soap from her overnight bag and opened it and started eating it.  sister gets her to spit it out.

my Mom later takes out her oxygen and lowers the bed because she is ready to go.  sister and nurse convince her that there is no one to get her home

Friday morning, Mom is released from the hospital and they get her home.  she has a prescription for pain medicine and my Dad brings it to Walmart around 1145am

i took a half day vacay so i go over to my parent’s house to check on them

about 230pm, we call Walmart to see if the prescription is ready and they say they can’t fill the pain medicine the way the prescription is written.

i take my Dad and we pick up the prescription and go to Walgreens.  Walgreens is out.  we go to a second Walgreens and they fill the prescription while we wait (about 20 minutes)

i’m just wondering what is next.  my Mom seems like as soon as she is told she can’t do something because she just had surgery, then that is exactly what she wants to do.
