Scenario #1:

You walk into the living room where, another person who lives in your home, has been sitting alone for the past 4 hours. They are watching a show on their laptop. They inform you there is 15 minutes left.

A. Sit there quietly for 15 minutes while they finish their show.

B. Go find something else to do somewhere else while they finish.

C. Turn on the TV next to their head, begin playing your own video game loudly, and call other inhabitants of the house into the living room to discuss your game with them.

Scenario #2:

You know another inhabitant of your house has been doing laundry today. You go to move your laundry into the dryer and find a freshly dried load of communal bathroom towels.

Do you?

A. Walk back upstairs and across the house to ask them what they want you to do with them so you can put your stuff in the dryer. And when they answer they will go fold them and put them away, you ask them to throw your stuff in the dryer while they are down there.

B. Fold the towels. Put your stuff in the dryer. Then put the clean towels away in the bathroom closet.

Pekerjaan dan Pernikahan Beberapa orang masih memberlakukan pola pikir lama dalam memandang suatu pekerjaan. Mereka menganggap pekerjaan yang menghasilkan adalah pekerjaan semisal pegawai negeri, bekerja kantoran, dan kerja di perusahaan besar. Sedangkan pekerjaan-pekerjaan lainnya kurang begitu menghasilkan. Nyatanya, di abad 21 ini, semua pola pikir itu diubah. Coba lihat profesi youtuber, content creator, desainer, fotografer, dan sebagainya yang dianggap kurang menghasilkan nyatanya mampu menghidupi orang yang menjalaninya. Belum lagi bila dikaitkan dengan syarat dalam melamar seorang wanita. Seorang pria terkadang dihadapkan pada masalah pekerjaan yang dianggap tak mampu menghidupi istrinya. Mertua menginginkan seorang menantu yang berprofesi sebagai pejabat negara, pegawai negeri, atau bekerja di perusahaan bonafit. Anggapan semacam ini sudah seharusnya diubah. Kaitannya dengan pernikahan, kesungguhan seorang pria dalam menghidupi istri dan anak-anaknya itulah yang lebih penting. Tak ada syarat seorang pria harus punya kekayaan sekian ratus juta misalkan dalam meminang seorang wanita. Saya pernah mendengar ceramah Ustaz Oemar Mita yang menyatakan bahwa seorang jamaah bercerita kepada beliau. Seorang jamaah ini punya seorang anak laki-laki. Sang anak ingin meminang wanita idamannya. Saat itu sang anak belum punya pekerjaan. Pada awalnya segala kebutuhan dipenuhi oleh orang tua sang anak laki-laki. Sang ayah memang sudah menabung secara terpisah khusus untuk biaya anaknya yang digunakan manakala sang anak belum bekerja, termasuk ketika sang anak telah menikah. Lambat laun, sang mertua paham akan hal ini. Ayah sang istri adalah pemilik sebuah usaha. Ayah mertua menawarkan pekerjaan kepada menantunya. Sang menantu mengiyakan usulan tersebut. Sejak saat itu, sang anak laki-laki tak lagi meminta uang kepada orang tuanya. Kisah tersebut menunjukkan bagaimana seharusnya sikap seorang orang tua dalam memandang pekerjaan. Juga tentang pemahaman memenuhi kebutuhan pasca menikah. Jangan lagi ada penilaian sepihak tentang pekerjaan seseorang.
