Christmas/Winter Themed Writing Prompts:
So @aisalynn and I were looking for a prompt list and ended up creating our own. We wanted to have a bit of enemies to lovers sharpness alongside some softer tropes. There are ones here that can be used platonically as well as romantically, so no real limit on the ship. Though I've mainly written for Corintheus I'm happy to give pretty much any pairing a go :)
Feel free to use any of these for your own writing inspiration if there's one that speaks to you!
Character A gets unexpectedly jealous by seeing B kissing someone else under the mistletoe.
Characters celebrating/observing an old seasonal/yuletide tradition that has almost been forgotten.
Characters A and B are rivals forced to cuddle for warmth
Exes forced to see each other at a holiday party because their friend group refused to choose between them.
Characters A and B have never gotten along but somehow end up paired together on a project for their companies season charity event.
Character A watches someone else give character B a gift and knows they could have chosen something better.
Character A runs into character B and sees that B is wearing A's favourite sweater that went missing a few weeks ago.
“If you try and make me sing Christmas carols I will kill you.”
Meet ugly where character A accidentally spills hot chocolate all over character B. Far from being apologetic A is just pissed about the loss of the whiskey they had poured into the drink.
Character A yanking character B closer by their scarf in the middle of an argument.
Post break-up character A gets dragged to a strip club by well-meaning friends and ends up there for the Christmas themed night. Character B wears mistletoe in...interesting places.
Character A and character B don't get along but somehow end up as each other’s secret Santa.
Character A and B are the only two people at an airport bar while they each wait for their separate delayed flights home for Christmas.
Characters A and B share a drunken New Years kiss. They mutually agree to forget about it. But then it keeps happening. Every. Single. Year.
Rival ice carving artists.
Jewellery shop owner character A keeps selling and processing returns for the Christmas proposal ring indecisive character B keeps buying. Final return after character B's failed proposal and break up.
Character A gets a Christmas present meant for character B and has to try and get it to them in time for Christmas.
Character A hates Christmas, character B decides it’s the perfect time of year to mess with them.
Character A keeps being set up with character C for family events and needs an excuse. They choose character B to be their fake partner, but they don’t tell them what they've done.
Character A is on a terrible sleigh ride date when the horse goes lame. Ends up helping character B, the sleigh driver with the horse, turns out not to be a bad night after all.
Character A is a sketch artist working over the holidays, character B is the next person to sit down in their chair.
Character A’s heating breaks in the middle of winter, character B is the engineer they call out to fix it.
Character A is trying to find a date in time for the holidays but they keep being cancelled on, character B seems oddly smug about it
Character A owns a bakery, character B is obsessed with everything they make—including the delicious winter treats they’re currently selling—but thinks A themselves is arrogant and intolerable (irritatingly hot though).
Instead of wrapping presents character A finds a dubious, but very creative, use for ribbons, character B falls victim but finds they’re into it.
Character A has taken to sucking on candy canes, character B is bothered by this but can’t tear their eyes away.
“You can’t hide under blankets forever just because it’s cold.” “Yes I can.” — character A then proceeds to drag character B out of their blanket den.
The season reminds character A of something/someone they’ve lost, character B comforts them in an unconventional way.
Character A wants to avoid a family reunion over the holidays, character B helps stage an ‘emergency’.
Characters A and B spend the holidays together for the first time as a couple, character C is a person in common they weren’t aware the other knew (up to you whether this is a good or a bad thing)
Character A is used to partners not being very accepting of their family/friends, character B meets them for the holidays and is the first to take it all in stride.
Character A is performing in *winter/Christmas themed media of your choice*, character B happens to be sat in the front row on opening night.
Character A is famous for writing a very catchy seasonal song that plays every year, only thing is they utterly despise hearing it now. Character B won’t stop humming it.

✦ Writer Questionnaire 2 ✦
Thanks for the tag, @the-golden-comet! (And @the-letterbox-archives tagging me when I was almost done here, haha)
Heads-up! Long post!
How long have you had your writing Tumblr/Writeblr? A fast and loose estimate is fine!
Two months ago to the date actually??? Or, at least, that's when I first uploaded a story here. My first actual Writeblr post was me hopping in on an open tag on the 6th of June, haha. I thought it was just a month, but looks like the summer's gone by in a flash! 😭
What led you to create it?
So, I'm a writer on Tapas! I'd been attempting to social network on other social medias (twitter and bluesky) but wasn't getting anywhere, didn't like the general formats, and uh... I'm sure I don't have to explain why I don't want to touch Twitter with a 10-foot-pole anymore. Let's just say, if you haven't seen, it's just as bad as (if not worse than) everyone says. Anyhow, I'd seen lots of Tumblr short stories on other platforms and started investigating what it's like here. Didn't know what "Writeblr" was or that it even existed, but eventually stumbled into the field after posting my short story. Thanks, @darkandstormydolls! ❤️
What’s your favorite thing about the Writeblr community?
How supportive everyone is??? Like omg you guys are so sweet, idk how to take it. Also I love seeing how much passion everyone else has for their writing, haha.
What’s one thing you’d like your mutuals to know about you?
Uhhhh, I think I'm pretty open about the things I'd like people to know about me, haha. I never mean to offend, so if I accidentally say something wrong, please tell me! I'm autistic and very dumb.
Is there anything you’d like to see more of on your dash?
I'm ngl I keep meaning to build out my followed tags for my fandoms, haha. The only fandoms I really see things for are TMAGP (10/10, TMA is my obsession. I am obsessed. It is one of my Special Interests and I love it with all my heart) and House of the Dragon??? Except I'm not even a fan of HotD??? So that's kinda annoying, haha. (Aka, my fandom stuff, but that's on me.)
WIP it Good
Which Works-in-Progress (WIPs) or writing projects are you noodling about, lately?
Rising From the Ashes, tragically. (Because it's one of the LAST things I should be working on right now, haha.) Otherwise, I'm of course always obsessed with the Arcane Rifts. Then I force myself to be obsessed with Sun and Shadow, though it's slowly growing on me, haha.
How long have you been working on them?
Haha, so I've historically jumped around a lot in working on different things, so these are approximate guesstimations!
Rising From the Ashes has likely had 3 or 4 years put into it/the characters. If you include the Calamity Crew (which overlaps with it in the timeline and originally ended up merging with the cast of RFtA), I'd say definitely 4 years!
The Arcane Rifts has had 5 years put into it.
Sun and Shadow is very new; I'd say it probably only has about 4 months of work in it? It's part of why I'm less interested in it, haha. Less I've put into it and less I'm attached to.
Do you remember what inspired them/what got you started?
Oh... oh dear. How could you ask me this??? 😭😭😭
Rising From the Ashes has existed since, I think, 2016. It started (tragically) as an RP starter on Google+. I wish I was kidding.
To those unaware of how it worked in that space (and likely similar ones to this day), you'd post a starter and people would join in with their own characters. 99% of the time, they'd drop out before long. However, I'd work out details of the characters in the process and carry that info over into the worldbuilding. I eventually stopped RPing with the masses and settled down with a single "partner" who I'll call Kris.
She's the one who stole my docs.
The Arcane Rifts technically originated as another RP starter? It never got attention, though, and instead my ideas for it simply carried over into the worldbuilding in general.
One of the characters of the original starter was important in the worldbuilding. It was not a character you see in the early books of tAR, though, so don't bother trying to figure it out. But, since he was so important, his origins were also important.
The Arcane Rifts started in 2019, as I wanted to make a story building out said character's origins. It was originally going to be a duology, the first book being Gene's backstory and the second being how Gene and The Other Guy's lives intertwined. (No, they were not gay for each other! 😂) It's since changed a lot, and focuses basically exclusively on Gene, haha. The last book in the series will probably be focused on the other character, though!
Sun and Shadow started for a romance novel competition on Tapas which has since ended. I didn't get to finish it in time for a lot of reasons, but I primarily cite stress and exhaustion from working full time at a physically-intensive job. It grew shockingly quickly and I had some fans donate to me related to it, so I'm kinda forced to work on it, haha. Dw--I like it! It's just harder to work on for a number of reasons, haha.
How much time, in your best estimation, do you spend thinking about them?
Tragic, the questions you're asking me--
It depends, haha. I'm autistic and hyperfixate a lot. Also, for one, that's a suuuuuper vague question??? Like what do you mean "how much time"--how much time within the day? How often in general? Idk, man, haha.
I think about the Arcane Rifts a LOT!
I've put an incredible amount of time and effort into it, and I'm in love with 90% of the characters there. Even the background characters have had a lot of work put into them, getting relatively fleshed-out backstories to make their motives understandable (even if not agreeable!), and I love them all so much, haha.
Except Katerina. She's a bitch.
I also think about Rising From the Ashes a good amount, and it's invaded my brain again lately, haha.
I took a step away from RFtA and basically all of my other stories late 2021 when Kris (my ex-writing partner) and I had a falling out. It was incredibly difficult for me emotionally to look at anything I worked with her on, and obviously RFtA was a huge one (actually, tAR was the only thing of my early works she had nothing to do with). Since early this year, I've finally been able to work on it again and it's been incredibly fun removing her stuff, actually!
I think all that is a good part of why I keep randomly getting obsessed with it again, haha. It's like looking at old friends (the characters, not Kris) and being all "omg??? I HAVEN'T SEEN YOU IN FOREVER??? PLEASE TELL ME EVERYTHING YOU'VE BEEN UP TO!!!" except it's removing Kris's stuff, haha.
I think about Sun and Shadow a lot more than you might expect with how much I talk about not preferring it, haha. I love the characters! Crow and, actually, Valyarus especially. They're both super interesting characters, and I'll randomly find my brain working out scenes between characters interacting with them.
(The problem with SaS is that, as a book, it's incredibly different from my usual works. It's a small cast of Frey/Crow and technically Daleira, while most of my stories focus on larger casts. It makes for a VERY different experience, and so it's a lot harder to work on)
When someone asks the dreaded, “What do you write about,” question, what do you usually say?
Actually, I've got a ready answer for this one! Until SaS, I was dedicating my time to the Arcane Rifts and had prepared the answer:
Percy Jackson meets Lord of the Rings in a steampunk fantasy world full of ✨mysteries waiting to be uncovered✨
(I'd say the "mysteries waiting to be uncovered" part ironically/accidentally mockingly most of the time, whoops, haha. I always feel awkward advertising my works.)
It was awkward when people would get actually interested in it from there and ask more questions, haha.
To clarify: that's my tagline for the Arcane Rifts! The story has gods and demigods messing with mortals, using them as their playthings and being REALLY immature babies because they don't really face consequences for their actions like PJ. Then, it's a lot more "grounded yet fantastical" like LotR, where magic is kinda infused with reality and yet you still have issues like starving to death and whatnot.
Let’s Rotate Blorbos
Name any characters you created. Side characters, protagonists, antagonists, characters who’ve never been written, the first original abomination you ever pulled from your ass; whomever you’d like!
UHHHH THERE'S A LOT TO LIST???
Try this for a taste! These are just the guys I've gotten colors for!
Freya, Crow, Daleira, Valyarus, Grimnir, Soren, Gene, Tazin, Mislav, Adilzhan, Ludmila, Rada, Caspar, Nikolai, Gennadi, Oska, Rieka, Liesel, Carmin, Nora, Sammy, Kieva, Caron, Varik, Elazi, Riaan, Roman, and Tiberius! (Though Tib is getting a name change sooner or later)
Who’s the most unhinged?
Unhinged in which way? There's a lot of options there, haha.
I'm going to give honorary mentions to Valyarus, Gene in the later books, Tazin, Rieka, Gennadi, and Tiberius ! (Why does it not surprise me that most unhinged characters are from tAR? 🤣 Also I swear it's a coincidence most of the unhinged characters are red.)
(... Probably.)
In general, I'd say that, incredibly ironically, the Existence of Order is the most unhinged of all my characters. She's just incredible at hiding it.
(Tbf half of the Existentials probably belong on the "unhinged" list anyway but eh. They still don't compare to Order!)
Who comes the most naturally for you to write?
I'm going to give this as a tie between Gene and Sammy!
Gene has my 'tisms and just about all of my trauma, so we have a lot in common, whoops, haha. Also there's a... very specific detail about his character that makes him easier to write in general. It's just a major spoiler. 👀
Similarly and actually identically to Gene in some ways, while Sammy has a lot in common with me, he's also incredibly perceptive! (Although we don't share that fact.)
Due to the way I write, their analytical natures allow for them to spit straight facts about the worldbuilding and the people around them rather than beating around the bush, haha. Both are highly investigative, try to learn and understand everything around them, and notice small details other characters wouldn't! It makes it much easier for me to write, because uh... well here's an example of what my outlines look like.
Long story short: I include a lot of detail which I then transfer into the POV's character narration, cutting out details which they wouldn't notice or think about, haha. In Sammy's case (which that scene has Sammy as the narrator/POV character), very little information gets cut out because he's so perceptive!
(Here, as a treat--have another example!)
(In this scene, Nikolai is the narrator. Even the outline gets "filtered" to mirror the characters' way of thinking--like it's Nikolai himself seeing Caspar as "doll-like". The crossed-out stuff is details I most likely won't mention, but noted for myself, haha. I do the same thing if/when including details about the motives and thoughts of non-narrator characters.)
Do you ever cringe at them?
Gene and Sammy?
A B S O L U T E L Y .
Gene is a wreck in basically every way and desperately needs help (that he won't get until he meets Dimitry). As much as I love him, there's a lot of moments where you just can't help but wince and be all "shit, did you REALLY have to do/say that?"
Sammy on the other hand? He's a terrified, control freak manipulator who panics the moment he feels like he's losing control of a situation. It can be painful to watch, even if simultaneously fascinating.
How much control do you feel you have over your characters? AKA, do they ever “write themselves,” refuse to cooperate, or do things you didn’t expect? To what degree? Are some less cooperative than others?
I explicitly go out of my way to add backstory to and develop each and every one of my characters until they "write themselves", haha.
I want my characters to feel like real people, so I do my absolute best to make them as real as possible. (That's part of why tAR is so massive...)
Special shoutout to Dimitry here, btw. Dude COMPLETELY screwed over the planned and intended from the earliest days path of the Arcane Rifts. I've mentioned before that Gene is villain-coded, yeah? Want to know why?
Because he was MEANT to be one! Then Dimitry had to come along, be the sweetest, nicest fucking person around to Gene while he was going through the worst part of his life, and keep Gene from slipping off the deep end!
MITRY, YOU PIECE OF--
Do you enjoy people asking questions about your characters? And do you have a preferred means of receiving said questions? For example, as Asks, as replies, as reblogs, as tag notes, as comments on AO3, etc.
I absolutely love, love, love!!! people asking questions about my characters!!! 🥰
I would absolutely prefer them as Asks sent to me, and especially would prefer if separate subjects/questions were sent in separate Asks! Like, say you were going to ask me about Gene and Dimitry. I'd rather two separate Asks, one asking for whatever you wanted to know about Gene and another for whatever you wanted to know about Dimitry, haha. However, if you wanted to ask a single question about both, that obviously is fine as a single Ask!
On writeblr engagement
What makes you want to follow another Writeblr account? Do you follow ‘em as you see ‘em, or take time scoping out the blog to make sure you align with its content? Do you follow based on WIPs, or vibes?
I definitely scope out before I follow, yes.
I choose based primarily on the personality of the person behind the blog, but the WIPs/vibes can also have an influence on my decision, haha. I'd rather follow people with kind/supportive personalities, and I'll eventually start liking their stories even if they're not initially my thing!
What makes you decide against following?
Bigotry. Moment I see it, I'm on the lookout for even the slightest hint of more and, if I see it, I'm OUT!
(That includes things like: homophobia, transphobia, TERFs, ableism, racism, xenophobia, etc.)
Also, while I include angst in my stories, the people who are big on "I have nothing but bad stuff in my writing and I'm proud" are, uh... not on my "follow" list. While they can write what they want and enjoy it, grimdark is not my thing. Angst is best in moderation and I very purposely control the amount of it in my life.
(Also Kris's--my ex writing partner's--obsession with "grimdark-ness" is a good part of why I'm so ecstatic to remove her stuff from my writing. Yes, I've tried it. For years. I hated it. Please and thank you. Also note that I proudly call myself an evil writer, so it's not like I don't love angst, it's just--moderation. Seriously.)
Do you interact with non-mutuals often?
Yes! I think a good 50-30% of my interactions are with non-moots, haha. I go out of my way to try to support my moots, but I'll definitely share support with anything that catches my attention, no matter who it's from!
To be fair, though, I think a majority of non-moots I interact with are on my mental "probably going to follow soon" list. I can be slow to make decisions, haha. It doesn't help that I try being active with my moots, so I'm trying to avoid growing that list too quickly!
Do your mutuals’ characters occupy space in your noodle?
Haha, depends what you mean by that? My brain is definitely too full of my own characters to have any space for anyone else's, but I definitely do think of others' characters at times! There's plenty of y'alls characters I really like, haha.
Just... omg, my hyperfixated AuDHD brain refuses to focus on anything except for the Hyperfixation of the Moment™.
This was a huge one! Hopefully I'm not screaming into the void with this one, or you guys enjoy finding out more about me and my WIPs.
If you're curious about the reason this is labeled Writer Questionnaire 2... well guess what!
Tagging (gently! This is a lot, haha): @honeybewrites @yourpenpaldee @paeliae-occasionally @mysticstarlightduck @illarian-rambling @.darkandstormydolls (tagged you earlier in the post haha) + open tags!

I don't know a massive amount about cartoons but top 5 cartoons?
AAHHHH!! Well firstly thank you so much for sending this! I'm a bit of a cartoon fanatic. I guess i just never really grew out of them?? and when I'm feeling sad they just make me feel so much happier so I tend to just recycle and re-watch them over an over again. The nostalgia I get from them is just unreal! So I'm just gonna answer these with gifs and talk about why i love them so much! :D
1. Pokemon
Pokemon has to be the 1st one for me! Just love everything about it! (Although nowadays watching it can be a little tiresome as it's the same plot every episode lol) But it was such a big part of my childhood growing up. The XY series is particular is the best and actually has a good story to it and isn't just team rocket tryna steal Pikachu all the time lol (and my beautiful otp came from it too so I'll love it forever).
2. American Dragon
What's not to love about American Dragon? A kid who can turn into a dragon is pretty awesome tbh. (I even wrote story at uni based on it) And i love how it educates you on Chinese culture. There's not many cartoons or tv shows in general that do. Plus i love the forbidden romance between jake and rose. It's so deliciously painful haha (Cartoons in general do romance better than most Hollywood films lol)
3. Kim Possible
Who didn't watch this growing up?! It was just too iconic! And let's acknowledge just how rare it was/still kinda is to have a female lead in a cartoon too - let alone a redhead as well! (Redheads really don't get much love in media do they) And don't get me started on Kim and Ron. Probably the best friends to lovers relationship to ever exist (I shipped them before I even knew what shipping meant lol). Plus Drakken is the funniest villain ever lol
4. Teen Titans
Teen Titans is literally the only DC thing I like lol. I'm not majorly into superhero things in general but this show is just so brilliantly done and not afraid to go to some dark places. Honestly love cartoons that feel like they're not just for kids and this is definitely one of them. And one of my favourite things about is how each series focuses on them and their own personal villains. (Plus I got the idea for my main WIP from watching this)
5. Ben 10
I'm a big sci-fi lover so a dude that can turn into aliens is right up my street! It's also kinda superhero themed and I love that Ben and his friends are basically defenders of the galaxy too (plumbers as they call it in the show) which is really cool. Also it's one of the very few cartoons that actually let the charcters age and you see the main characters grow up with you which I really like. (One thing I hate about Pokemon - Why did they have to keep Ash 10 lol). But yeah this one was a big part of my childhood too and one I always will come back to
#i really wanted jackie chan adventures to be in this too but these just edge it for me#also sonic x is an honourable mention#and i absolutely love the big hero 6 series too#that one was not my generation tho so it's not nostalgic like these ones#there's probably a few more i'm forgetting too but these 5 are top notch#pokemon#american dragon#kim possible#teen titans#ben 10#no but really thanks for the ask!#i found this really enjoyable 😁

20 Questions for Fic Writers
Thanks for tagging me @eternallaughter! I also wouldn't consider myself a fic writer. I am a fic reader and a fic imaginer who very occasionally actually wrangles one out of her brain onto the page (screen).
There are some spoilers in the tags and descriptions of some of my fics for some media so proceed with caution.
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
14! I'm shocked the number is that high every time.
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
20,547
El you have over double my wordcount with fewer than half my fics haha. Sigh, the only ideas I ever finish/post are the short ones.
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Kind of none right now. I always have things floating around in my head and notes apps but I wouldn't say I'm actively writing any of them right now. Though I do want to finish my ... 3? Yuumori wips because they actually have promise and I want to read them finished *sob*.
The ones I've published for are Yuumori, Pokemon SWSH, K (Project), and Binan Koukou Chikyuu Boueibu LOVE!
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
5. Eight Note (Rated G, KBNZ, 607 words, stream-of-consciousness cat-POV retelling of a really fantastic longer fic written by a friend, Pokemon SWSH)
4. Blushies and Plushies (Rated T, KBNZ, 1,796 words, shopping pre-relationship drabble thingy (they're all drabbles), Pokemon SWSH)
3. The Lion And The House Cat (Rated T, Mikorei, 1,605 words, exchange fic for the prompt "AU where Reisi has a pet cat who doesn't like Mikoto very much", K)
2. Study Tree (Rated T, Mikorei, 2,473 words, .... inspired by a scene from Gilmore Girls, but definitely not one you'd expect..., K) I am too embarrassed to reread this one and I'm so glad I wrote Stag Night because this was #1 for a WHILE
Stag Night (Rated T, Sherliam, 686 words, inspired by the stag night scene from BBC Sherlock, Moriarty the Patriot)
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Yes if I check and they don't get buried under responses to my comments on other fics that I forget to mark as read. No if they get buried or I forget the inbox exists (it happens alllll the time).
6. What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Phone Calls is the one (1) MCD fic I've written so... probably that? It's either that or Mirror, Tell Me Something which is an angsty character-study thing. (or we can say Tale as Old as Time which is angsty because the last part published was angsty and also because I will never finish it)
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Probably Eighth Note because Stagger is happy with two dads.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
I don't think so. Thankfully. No one should get hate on their fics.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
I have posted a vague-masturbation fic, but other than that smut hasn't crossed over from the WIP world (yet. That Fibonacci sequence, man...)
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
I write things inspired by other things and imagine a TON of AUs, but I don't write crossovers, no.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I know of, and I hope not.
12. Have you had a fic translated?
Someone translated Stag Night into Russian!
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
No. My sister and I have MANY stupid crack fic ideas that we are "definitely going to write one day" though...
14. What’s your all-time favorite ship?
Gut reaction is Mikorei because they were my first crazy-hyperfixation OTP and I'll always have a special place for them... But I can't really decide, otherwise.
15. What’s the WIP you want to finish but you doubt you ever will?
Most of them? T_T
16. What are your writing strengths ?
Grammar probably. And the fact that I read a lot so I know (theoretically) what sounds good
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Writing anything that isn't That One Scene that I thought of .
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
I'm not fluent in any language other than English so I won't write in any other languages. I will use honorifics though. I have nothing against it in other people's writing (I greatly appreciate if they translate it in the end notes)
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Binan Koukou Chikyuu Boueibu LOVE! (baby's first fandom has a new movie coming out soon woo!)
20. Favorite fic you have ever written?
I want to say Stag Night and Phone Calls, but those could just be the ones I've reread the most post-publishing so it's exposure bias. But I think I like all of my fics except for Study Tree XD.
I get stressed out tagging people for tag things, but consider yourself tagged if you see this and want to do it!
#opening ao3 on my computer and not intending to publish anything is such a weird experience haha#apparently that's the only time I open fandom stuff on my computer rather than my phone?#my posts#omg I did a tag game#that'll be my tag for tag games if I remember#which I won't because the next time I actually do one will be in 10 years

bunnyguard reflection
in the spirit of 'fuckit it's my own blog i can be sappy if i want to' as well as 'this took a year and 78k and i get to keep talking about it for at least one more day' now and here is the time and place for personal yap that did not go in the last author's note.
preliminarily speaking, i had this concept in mind before I'd finished either the usagi yojimbo comics OR watching Rise. i spent so much of both of those series fishing out little moments and choices by leo and usagi that made me go 'oh my god i NEED these guys to meet, i need to watch them bounce off each other.' I kept collecting snips of ideas, and dialogue, and encounters that never quite all panned out or fit together because this was just so much fun for me to play in. I had a lot of wanting to turn this into a real story but no concrete frame to build it on, and then in january i saw the year of the otp prompts go by. and went 'oh haha that looks fun.' it was even the year of the rabbit. and then i went 'oh!! what if i did VIGNETTES for these!!' and then less than three days later the Battle Nexus as political element of the Hidden City, complete with connections to the very different other iteration of it that we'd seen, fell into place and suddenly this silly little whim was an actual big project staring me down with an ambitious goal in mind, and I had no idea if I could pull it off.
structuring it as a month by month thing was something i'd never done before. it forced me to wait to find out what would happen, to keep building to something that didn't exist yet, to lay down the track while I was driving the train. and at the same time, it gave me space to grow, to practice putting together a beginning, middle, and end every month. and it gave me something to look forward to, and the excitement of dropping in threads that wouldn't pay off for months, and watching as it went to see what the audience reaction would be. were people getting out of it the things i wanted to give them? was i hitting the notes i wanted? i had the sketch of the year, but i was still learning what was going to happen until the moment the last word hit the page. plot and character choices, but also big thematic stuff! i described November's fic as 'the ten of swords' to Space and then went 'wait a fucking second' and realized that I could draw a connection, in order, between each fic and a numerical card of tarot's suit of swords. (mostly one-to-one --october straddles 9-10, and December loops us back around to the Ace of swords, for new beginnings.) i couldn't have done that on purpose. if i'd had that thought in january i would have gone 'no that's too pretentious and too hard' and avoided it.
also!! this has been a year of my life!! over the course of this series, i've had four different living situations (that lasted longer than a week), two different jobs, and gone back to school. i had to change meds, which was an anxious ordeal in 'am i even going to be able to focus on anything now?' the cat that was purring on my lap while i worked on the first few months has now passed away. this fic kept me company on the flight for my move to a different continent. it kept me sane in the middle of a very stressful summer. it's helped me meet and get closer to some really cool people. i can FEEL how it's made me a stronger writer.
and on top of all that: i am deeply, genuinely, truly proud of this series. i'm glad i wrote it. i'm amazed at how it's turned out. i can see things i would change if i did it over, but i'm glad i won't be. i'm glad this is the way it exists. and i am utterly blown away that there are people who told me they were looking forward to it every month, that they've been following it since the beginning, that they like what i've done with this place. this is the longest-term project i've ever done. it's the most words i've ever put into a single narrative. i can't believe it's never going on my wip rotation again. whadda hell.
i have no idea if i'll ever do anything like this again. i hope it won't be anytime soon--there are other things i want to do in the meantime. but god, am i glad i did it.

20 Writer Questions
ty @littlefirefox for the tag!! nice seeing the other folks you tagged too, fandom runs deep fr haha <3
1. Total number of AO3 works?
34! i haven't uploaded in so long ouurgh
2. Total AO3 word count?
103,336 :o
3. Fandoms I’ve written in?
oh boy, tons. and im too shy to talk abt a lot of them on my main blog lol, but throughout my life i've written for a lot of youtubers, bbc sherlock, rotbtd, atla, tlok, american idol, some disney shows, an anime, live streamers, musicians...
4. Top 5 Fics by Kudos
dhjdjhs again im too shy to list em directly, they're all rpf >:'D # of kudos: 519, 377, 341, 314, 305
5. Do I️ respond to Comments?
yes, i try to reply to all of them! tho i need to look at my inbox and check that i haven't missed any recent ones :')
6. What has the angstiest ending?
hmmMm on ao3 i have a drabble that ends in perceived unrequited love but i think my actual angstiest published story ends with 2 former best friends finally choosing to part ways. offline, i have stories that end in major character death 😬
7. What has the happiest ending?
oh! a delightful question! i think the one where the soulmates figure their shit out and finally confess their feelings for each other feels like the most triumphant ending that i can remember writing :)
8. Have I️ received hate?
not for my writing. i've received unwarranted constructive criticism before tho.
9. Do I️ write smut? And what kind?
yes sometimes but i've never posted it online 👁👁 and idk "what kind" means... gay i guess???? loll
10. Do I️ write crossovers?
yes! i don't think i've posted anything online but rise of the brave tangled dragons is one of my longest loves.
11. Have I️ ever had a fic stolen?
not that i know of 😳
12. Have I️ ever had a fic translated?
no but i would be honored if anyone offered! :')
13. Have I️ ever co-written a fic?
i've initiated "finish the fic"s before, but i've never co-written a fic in the traditional sense.
14. What is my all-time favorite ship?
OH hmmm idk if i have one. maybe sh****** just bc of how long and intense my obsession was for it lol
15. A WIP I️’ll never finish?
i have a bbc sherlock fic that was well-received but i just can't imagine finishing it bc my writing has changed so much, i never had a direction for the story, and i don't really like how i wrote the characters.
16. Writing Strengths?
i'm good at eavesdropping on imaginary conversations between people who exist solely in my head so i think im good at whipping out dialogue, lol. i also pride myself on writing realistic, complex emotions and digging into the deeper, more hidden thoughts of characters.
17. Writing Weaknesses?
i think i get so excited about writing my favorite bits i have planned that i rush the pacing of my stories or i force plotpoints that don't make too much sense and can probably be cut. i've been trying to combat that by indulging in the first draft—letting myself write all the exciting, wild ideas i have first before revising and fine-tuning the story to my standards!
18. Do I️ like foreign language dialogue?
yes? no opinion? i don't think i understand this question.
19. First Fandom I️ wrote for?
i think it was american idol >:)
20. Favorite fic Ive written?
wahhh like lynn i find it super hard to choose bc my writing is such a reflection of my interests and general mindset at the time! plus i still love my most busted writing bc i have such a warm appreciation for who i was and how i've improved. buuuuut for whatever reason i'm very proud of this one friends to lovers fic on my ao3 that's set during the wintertime~ i think i was able to get the pacing just right, emotionally and plotwise, and everything just makes sense, and the ending is so satisfying. it's a very solid fic for when i wrote it, and i am very happy to write a simply solid fic :)
thanks again lynn for the tag!! tagging: @farklelucas @26velociraptors if you want + any other ficwriters who would like to do this! (lol gretchen i can't even remember if you post on ao3 ermm)

20 questions for writers
tagged by @whatishowedyouinthedark. Getting to this, what, like a week late? Time has existed to have meaning for me, alas.
1. How many works do you have on AO3? 31
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
546,355. Goddamn, how did that happen?
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Mostly ACOTAR, occasionally Red Rising. There are some smaller fandoms that I've dipped my toes in. When I started out, it was PJO fic.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos? All ACOTAR fics!
lay yourself out, pick yourself up
live once (once is enough) FUCK YEAH MY OC KIDDOS
Our Savaged Souls
Haves and Have Nots (a collab fic with some lovely friends)
to take, to worship
5. Do you respond to comments?
I'm bad about responding to comments. I really try to do a "thanks for reading and commenting!" because as I commenter I like that interaction with the author. But lately I haven't been unless there's a question/interesting observation I'd like to engage with. I'm sure it doesn't feel that way to the commenter, but when I say the same thing (thanks for reading!) it starts to feel rote.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
The Second Son. Our Savaged Souls is an angsty fic, but it has a happy ending lol
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Almost all of the one-shots in live once (once is enough) are fluffy kid fics. Does that count? If not, perhaps miracles, set in the same universe
8. Do you get hate on fics?
eh, not really? I've gotten one or two "I don't like this" type of comments. I wouldn't classify it as hate, just annoyance
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Occasionally. I can't sit down and churn it out. Usually it's an idea that marinates in my brain for a long time, the emotions and the feelings setting in, before I can put it into words.
10. Do you write crossovers?
Nope, but I'm not ideologically opposed lol. Just haven't had the inspiration
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
I'm pretty sure I haven't
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Someone volunteered, but I don't know if it actually happened.
I do have fanart for the live once (once is enough) kids!
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yes!!! Gotta love the writing circles. The lovely @mmvalentine also helped with OSS.
14. What is your all-time favorite ship?
Bellarke from The 100. Feysand is good, and there's a lot to play around with in that sandbox. But man, Bellarke is just on another tier. The fanfic that came out of than fandom is also absolutely stunning.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
oof, everything lol. I have some Red Rising fics that have gone stale, also an old one for The 100. I have the best of intentions to write The Illyrian Trials and all the other stories I have in mind for the live once (once is enough) universe, but I don't know if I ever will.
16. What are your writing strengths?
idk bro. Maybe dialogue? Can someone else tell me this, haha?
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
plot lol. I know the structures, I can feel the beats, but I'm bad at sitting down myself and plotting something out. And is it bad if I say prose, too? Sometimes I feel like I'm pulling teeth for some good prose because all I want are long dialogues.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
YES always
19. First fandom you wrote for?
WELL. Technically it was Stuart Little for a 3rd grade school assignment. Then in 4th grade, again for a school assignment, I wrote Warriors fanfic (the books about the cats). Actual intentional fic was an unpublished Jily attempt, first published fanfiction was PJO
20. Favorite fic you’ve written?
Probably a toss up between The Second Son and Our Savaged Souls. I don't think The Second Son is my best writing, but there is a lot of me in there and it was a journey to complete. Our Savaged Souls was not planned in the same way, it just kind of happened. It happened pretty smoothly for a fic that was written mostly in one google doc lol.
i apologize, I gotta do the lazy thing and say "tagging whoever wants to be tagged" i feel like everyone has been tagged in this already because I'm so late!

Hello hello! This is the writeblr library's librarian with some questions. You can choose to do question one, question two, or both! (and there's no time limit btw <3) Have fun!
~will be reblogged onto the writeblr library~
What inspired your WIP? Was it another piece of media? Multiple pieces of media? A certain genre? Tropes? Parts of your life? A hyper-specific random thing
What environment gives you the best ideas for your WIP? Do you have a playlist? Do you go for a walk? Do you get ideas at 3am and have to write them down NOW otherwise they disappear? Do you write anywhere and anywhere? What gets you in the mood to write?
Hi!! (and thank you!)
1- wow I actually don’t remember! While it’s changed entirely all ship of Theseus-like, I’m pretty sure I actually came up with the original plot of this WIP when I was 11-13 years old (god. So I entered and will exit my teenage years with it). (I put it under the cut if anyone’s curious, haha. It’s very different.)
And 2- I actually really don’t get ideas unless I make room for them. I really have to sit down and write out everything that’s happened up until this point and then write out everything that COULD happen brainstorm and choose. I don’t really get inspiration naturally 🤷♂️ it’s all forced, lol. I WISH I was the type of person who got ideas from walking or music or stuff so they didn’t seem so forced sometimes, but I suppose consistency is good too.
Thank you for the ask!! Cool idea and yeah just… thank you >:]
Since it was so long ago I have no clue where I came up with it, but I still remember the super basic idea; a young teenage boy from the normal world gets caught in a forest fire, dies? and wakes up in a high fantasy world (no I’d LITERALLY NEVER read or even heard of a portal fantasy, this was my original idea and I was gutted when I found out it was an already established thing) in a kingdom where royals and nebulously Important People have the power to control fire. He gets sort of taken-in-stray-cat-adopted by the similarly aged not-in-line (so not very important) prince who does have the power. Because he just appeared and has no abilities and no life here.
They’re trying to work out how to get him home when he suddenly starts (oh no!!) making sparks and stuff but he hides it because (Oh No!!) he’s in love with the prince (or something idk I was like 12.) Somehow some confrontation exposes fully fledged fire powers like only a master from this world should have and for some reason this makes the king super flip out. He and the prince flee. It ends there.
- My current plot, in contrast, has a (different) older teenage guy (closer to my age now) as the main character but it doesn’t really start with him. I don’t want to describe it too deeply but the main characters all attend a sort of community boarding school because they live in a society where education and knowledge and ability are really highly valued, more than really any material or object or anything?
(So basically not because they’re rich or important, it’s normal, and the boarding aspect is because everyone lives very communally in general, and higher education doesn’t really exist because of the level of societal development. So this is the only stage in life where they get any real independence from their parents, because as adults usually people return and live in family groups again so this is how they learn to be self sufficient away from parents, I suppose?)
Anyway there is a younger kid about 10 in the junior school who is having weird stuff happen to him and it’s sort of related to the ghosts, which are a normal aspect of the world which is where time is wearing kind of thin and you can see echoes of people from the past or future through, and something happens that makes main character, friend group, and child need to leave school to try to work out what’s happening.
There is a bunch of weird time stuff in the middle like things happening and unhappening, and time loops but short, and it’s got the same sort of beats because it’s overall a sort of coming-of-age romance between main character and his best friend, and it was originally an adventure romance between main character and new wow prince.
…there were a bunch of middle iterations between this with the characters from current iteration in the current world but with a similar plot to original story (basically some people have fire powers, some people have healing powers, main character is supposed to have healing powers but then he randomly has fire too, this makes people flip out, he runs away with love interest (roommate) and then I never knew what happened after that…) but this final iteration is the first one to have an ending.
In 2019 it briefly went through a real-world (not fantasy) post-apocalyptic phase in the aftermath of a plague where they had been on a school trip on one side of America (a distant and exotic place!) when everyone had died or become evil and now they were trying to get back home in a stolen van when none of them could drive because they were underage teens. So road trip across America to the other side after plague. Scrapped shortly before Covid, actually.

20 Questions for Fic Writers
Tagged by @elevenelvenswords - thank you so much, friend <3 (and apologies for taking forever to get round to this!)
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
49 in total.
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
456,188 words.
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Mainly Silmarillion. I have dabbled in Star Wars and Dark Souls too, plus a D.Gray-man fic I wrote for a friend purely based on what she told me about the characters as I've never read the manga or watched the anime.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
My top one is Yield to the Moment, which is completely fair enough as it's a beast of a fic and by far the longest multi-chapter I've ever written. The next two are Strange New World and A bond once called fealty, part of my Swords series looking at Melkor and Mairon post-Dagor Dagorath. Then we've got The Metal Cage which is pure PWP (chastity play/CBT) and I am very glad people are having fun with it. And fifth is A quiet sort of introspection, a Melkor-centric character study also set in the Swords 'verse.
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Yep! I think it's only fair to reply to people if they've taken the time to share their thoughts about something I've written. Plus it can turn into a really fun thinking space to play around with ideas about characters!
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Ohhh I have to think about this one. I don't know if I tend to write particularly angsty endings? Maybe High and Higher? Which is a Fallen Banners ficlet set in Gondolin after Maeglin's return from Angband where he feels like he doesn't quite fit into his life anymore.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Yield to the Moment, probably! The wedding felt like a happy culmination of all the work they'd been putting into themselves and each other.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
It's happened a few times, yeah. But generally people seem to take a "ship and let ship" stance to fandom.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Quite a lot of smut haha. Honestly I'd describe my particular brand of smut as a thinly veiled excuse for a psychological study of the characters.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
Haven't written any crossovers yet.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not to my knowledge, thankfully.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
A couple, yeah, back in 2015-ish when I first started writing for the Silm fandom. Sadly I took down all those old fics at a time when my mental health wasn't amazing (wish I hadn't), and I'm not sure if the translations still exist anywhere.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
YTTM started out as a co-written project.
14. What’s your all time favourite ship?
Will have to go with Angbang here. They just seem to speak to a deep deep part of my psyche.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I've got a very rough WIP about Mairon bonding with Tar-Mriel in Númenor that I don't feel super engaged with anymore.
16. What are your writing strengths?
Characterisation, I hope! I've always been drawn to writing as a way to explore what makes characters tick, why they do the things they do. I also really enjoy coming up with fun ways to describe things.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Everything can always be improved, I suppose! At the moment I think I'm mindful that I find it difficult sometimes to end fics in ways that feel punchy or memorable.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
Totally on board with it when used thoughtfully as a plot device or a way to add depth to characters.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Oh goodness, I think it was Harry Potter back when I was 13 or 14. Those fics will not be seeing the light of day haha.
20. Favourite fic you’ve written?
Hmm I don't actually like reading my own stuff very much. It's a bit of a struggle to switch off the perfectionism. That said, YTTM has a special place in my heart. It took a lot of time, a lot of thought, and sometimes a lot of effort, and while I'm not 100% happy with it, I am glad that I got it over the finish line and that I had a chance to tell a story I really wanted to tell.
#meme things#crackinthecup's writing#thank you so much again for the tag :3#i know you tagged me ages ago so i won't tag anyone#but if this meme takes anyone's fancy please do go ahead and do it

4, 10, 21 from this questionnaire! I wanna see where does your stories and writing comes from a lot but three questions are enough for one shot haha
Hahaha im gonna answer 4 and 21 because I don't have a WIP 🤔 for a moment.
4) Where do you find inspiration for new ideas?
I wish I knew. I believe that ideas are like music and language... They exist without us but we pull them into our realm so to speak. And we just interpret them the best we can. Sometimes they're dreams. Actually the first chapter of my fic, of Ethan and Karl talking (coffee) Was a dream. Others are made from me listening to music, music opens my mind for ideas. And I love hearing suggestions. I really love talking to my spouse about ideas as well. I would say it's 10% dreams or scenes that pop into my head randomly, 70% listening to music and seeing the scenes from the music, and 20% discussing with people and talking about the stories. The hard part is getting them all to fit together. Sometimes a scene is so good but you have to write it to make sense in existence and that can be hard but it's so worth it. Another example of that is, a scene popped into my head of Ethan seeing a gigantic red frozen tornado of debris and I had no idea what to do about that but luckily we learned about magnetic hysteresis in class and I was like... Oh! Lol. A beautiful scene will always be good on its own but it can be powerless without story logic.
21) Would you ever consider collaborating with another writer? Absolutely!!! I miss the days of deviantart. Writers used to put their brains together, their oc and canon stories together....make great stories together.... Then the artists would come in and do art for the writers and the writers would write for the artists.... Such great times. I'm always down to discuss a story to anyone so PLEASE reach out.

Sadly for me I have come to the end of my writing ideas for one shot stories which means I am now faced with the unpalatable dilemma of trying to actually write and finish one of my long fic ideas, and this level of commitment fills with me with existential dread.. well actually I think other shit does that and I write to try and forget the yawning chasm that opens up beneath me, but oh well, never mind eh…
I currently have four multi-chapter WIP ideas all of which exist in various degrees of very unfinished states on my hard drive, none of which I’m certain I can complete, but even so, I will outline them below, I will ponder them, I will be totally open to any suggestions that probably no one has..
Viren Origin Fic
Okay so my TDP original idea was always to write Viren’s background and relationship with Harrow from around age 13/14 right up to the start of the show... the main problem with this is - all the known cannon stuff seems to squeeze everything into about 8-10 years in the middle, while leaving the decades on either side of his marriage up until the magma titan debacle like a blank void of stuff I would have to make up and get totally wrong - due to my blinkers with Viren, my desire to make the world a lot darker than it’s probably supposed to be, and my unshakable belief that Harrow and Viren’s friendship becomes a twisted and suffocating vine that sucks them both into the pit of their own poor moral morasses.. but is also all they have.. and it’s sad..
So the plus side of this - I just really kinda love to explore the Viren/Harrow, Viren & Kpp’Ar, Viren/Lissa relationships, along with Sarai… I also love the slow descent of Viren from carefree boy, to loving dad to errr… not loving dad?
Down side – I could start writing this and find it is totally blown out of the water by the new cannon that will appear this summer and that often derails me, because while I am absolutely able to misread a character and their motivations and level of evil intent, like a fucking pony prancing around a field on a spring day.. I can get oddly OCD about additions to story cannon that mean this could very easily get destroyed and then I would have utterly wasted my time… also there are A LOT of missing pieces to fill in..
Viravos dead souls fic
Urgh, following on from this.. I also thought I could round it off with some vaguely cannon Viren/Aaravos.. um.. two years dead lost souls fic.. that could also be a stand alone. So for some reason my brain did not go down the horny Aaravos emerging from the cocoon s3/s4 gap fic, that people might actually want to read, and instead went to the hey.. what if Aaravos had to give the traumatised soul of Viren two years of therapy, in space, while his body lies on earth stitched in stasis.. anyway, it’s basically a lot of moping and angst between a middle aged man regretting all his life choices and a near eternal elf who has been irreversibly psychologically damaged by 300 years of solitary confinement.. fun times? This is not.. I also want to give them an unrealistic level of softness here because I'm pretty sure Viren will get no happy ending and I want him to have something.. I’m a sap and I have to just deal with this sad fact..
The plus side of this - I guess.. oh.. I don’t even know if there is a plus side.. people might want to read it? Until they discover that for an E rated fic it will really offer them nothing at all.. just slightly traumatised bad sex.. well, haha, that’s all my E rated fic to be fair…
Downside - I cannot really write Viravos to save my life.. meh..
Viren/Kpp’Ar Gothic AU
Alright, I switched this to gothic for more historical leeway and more opportunities for brooding, crazy mansions, resurrection and ghosts in the attic.. anyway.. this is a time when humans have fucked the world up even more fully, when they have destroyed nearly all magical components and dark mages are a dying breed of unhinged self-destructive maniacs that make Jack Parsons look sane.. I have a vague outline for this stitched out that I will probably expound upon in a different post, it’s pretty dumb and deranged and exists mostly so I can write some Viren and Kpp’Ar together..
Plus side of this – I mean despite the fact I’m patchy on the historical details I do love me a bit of gothic - brusque anti-social Kpp’Ar energy, mixed with Viren channelling his inner hysterical lady vibes… (just kidding olden days hysterical girls with smelling salts, you could never be as overwrought as Viren gets in front of a mirror..)
Minus side – this is literally as ridiculous as it sounds, there would be A LOT of plot I would have to write to fill inbetween the main beats, and I would probably have to do a lot of research.. watching old black and white horror films and reading the first 100 pages of gothic novels that I’ll simply forget to finish.. sigh.. okay maybe I’ll do the research and forget the writing..
Cyberpunk AU
Welp.. despite the last one, this is probably the most insane of all my ideas and exists solely because I wanted to ship Viren with Ibis… What? Why did I want to do this? I have literally no idea, except that often for some reason my brain will think.. oh.. I wonder what would happen if those two completely incompatible characters that have no way to actually get together in cannon met up and had a fuckin ridiculous and unlikely relationship that literally no one else in the whole world would care about?
So despite the fact that I know I don’t have a quarter of the world building chops necessary to actually write this, I have thought about it quite a lot..
Dumb things this AU contains:
A physical border between human kingdoms and Xadia where armies are constantly lined up in a don’t blink first cold war scenario…
An online version of the breach that separates the shitty human commodore 64 8-bit level of technology from the apple mac in 100 years sleek levels of advancement the Xadians have achieved..
That humans, god bless their ingenuity, have discovered a way to hook into, in order to try and steal the technology of the five nexus powers and boost themselves out of the depressing state of their own existence..
Defection from Xadia to the human kingdoms by various elves who have grown tired of the 1984 levels of state surveillance imposed on them by the dragons.. and who now work with the humans as primal jumpers, i.e. those who can get into the breach naturally..
Dark jumpers, who are social pariahs with both humans and elves and destroy everything they touch.. as per cannon..
Zero magic in the human kingdoms because they’re so awful of course they’ve destroyed it all, they rely on the dirt and smog of fossil fuels, while Xadia is renewable and magical all the way, but also under the grip of dictatorial state control.. seems like you just can’t have it all eh..
Just the whisper of Aarovos existing out there somewhere in the online breach like Jeff Bridges in Tron Legacy…
Weird pseudo sex pollen stuff that I would really have to remove to stop a decent into pure insanity..
Um.. drugs.. this is cyberpunk and the ONLY cyberpunk type stuff I have read is either by Philip K Dick or is Neuromancer… which means I figure cyber punk just has to involve a heinous amount of drug taking, which is probably inappropriate for a kids cartoon fic..
Alright, this makes total sense in my head but I am aware that trying to write it down makes it sound pretty nuts..
Plus sides – none?
Minus sides – I think those have all be listed above… so I should probably leave this here…
Alright, that's all I have thought about, which is probably for the best..
Honestly I do not know what to do here, maybe work on everything concurrently and finish nothing.. maybe do nothing.. maybe try and learn to draw better so I don’t have to worry so much about writing and plot and pacing and world building.. maybe wait for the sweet inspiration for a one shot of below 15k words to hit me..
..and yet I feel compelled to write SOMETHING.. which sorta sucks..
#like sincerely on the off chance you should have a burning desire to read one of these please let me know..#it is always easier for me to write something under the misguided belief that someone might be interested..#where do we go from here.. the words are coming out all weird..#as radiohead once said..#au

(Thanks to @mythical-bookworm for tagging me!)
How many works do you have on AO3? 11
2. What's your total AO3 word count? 184,491
3. What fandoms do you write for? Back to the Future and Family Ties
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Harborage
Despite the Distance
In Case of Emergency
Reflections of a (Not So Mad) Scientist
Under the Mat
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I do my best to respond to every comment I get because it really means a lot to me to get them! Sometimes, I do genuinely forget, though.
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Probably "Because of the Barriers". I mean, the ending isn't particularly angsty, but the whole point of that fic is angst, haha. That's my "troubled version of Marty who grew up in a timeline without Doc" fic, and it leads into the events of "Despite the Distance."
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
I think that award would go to the final chapter, "Sunset," I did for Doctober. I really wanted to end that project on a happy note.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
No, I never have, though I have gotten one or two comments from people telling me things like, "This would have been better if ______" and "Good fic, but the ending felt like it was missing something," which aren't hate comments, of course, but they are kind of weird ones for someone to leave. Just seems unnecessary, lol.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
BIG NO
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
I did a Family Ties and BTTF crossover chapter for Doctober!
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
I hope not!
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
I did have someone contact me once because they wanted to translate one of my fics into German, but I don't know if they ever did it.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Maybe?? My friend and I like to toss around fic ideas and write snippets of scenes on Discord, and a good deal of those ideas have made it into recently posted fics, so... I guess that counts?
14. What's your all-time favourite ship?
I'm not a big ship person and usually don't focus too much on them, but I guess Marty and Jennifer? Alex and Ellen, too.
15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
Hmmm...a while back I wrote a chapter or two of a post-trilogy BTTF fic where something goes wrong in the continuum since Doc is vacationing and running all through time. Since he's "spent too long" away from the year he's supposed to be living in, the continuum kind of starts to "erase" him from people's memories? Except for Marty's, since he's protected by the time bubble and all that. Anyway! Marty starts mentioning Doc, and everyone thinks he's losing his mind. Consequently, he starts to think he's losing his mind because nobody around him can remember a Doc Brown.
Also, Marty starts to legitimately hallucinate Doc (he pops up and talks to Marty and gives him advice), not because there's anything actually wrong with Marty's mental state, but because the timeline is going haywire trying to reconcile a guy who existed, but who's being erased, but who is still remembered by Marty.
It's an odd one. Not sure what was going on there, but I had fun writing it!
16. What are your writing strengths?
I think I do well with dialogue. When the characters are really engaged in a conversation, it flows easily for me.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Setting the scene. I have a very hard time describing surroundings and making it feel "alive." Also! When I just have one character alone and have to focus entirely on their own thoughts, that leads to a lot of writer's block.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
That'd be fun, but I only speak English, and I don't trust Google Translate to translate things accurately.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Ok, um... Big Time Rush, lol. I never posted any of it, but that was the first fandom I was in when I was younger that made me truly aware of fanfiction. I remember sitting there and realizing, "Hey, I could do this, too! I could put these guys in situations!" I wrote stuff based off of the show just for fun, but I credit it for starting my love of writing and helping me to develop a lot of my skills.
20. Favourite fic you've ever written?
Oh, this is so hard. I think I'm gonna have to go with "Despite the Distance". That one was challenging, emotional, and fun to work on. But I also have a very special place in my heart for "So, Your Brother's Befriended a Mad Scientist." I love writing about Dave McFly being a wonderful big brother and also looking at those early weeks of Marty and Doc's friendship.
Tagging @fourth-dimensional-thinker, @rose-of-pollux, @daryfromthefuture and anyone else who wants to do this!

Fanfiction writing ask, all the ones that end in zero goooooooo!
OMG THAT'S SO MANY. Thank you thank you thank you
10 -Do you work on multiple wips or stick to one fic at a time?
Multiple ones, but I "limit" myself to max 3 fic at a time. My biggest challenge is finishing things, so I’ve been really pushing myself to balance some short pieces with only one long one. That being said, I have an idea document that I keep updated, so I don’t lose anything that I really like.
20 - Do you prefer writing AUs or canon fics?
Canon is easier for some reason? I think that’s because I like working within confines of a pre-existing world rather than having A TON of possibility. That being said, I am warming up to AUs and have been trying my hand at them.
30 - How much do you edit your fics? Do you edit as you write or wait until you finish the first draft?
A ton. I try and get everything out at once. Then I read for plot…does it make sense (hopefully)? Then I edit for specific word choice. Then I go back and do this bit over and over until I get so sick of the chapter that I would rather clean my apartment. THEN I run everything through grammarly and pray it catches everything. Then I post… and then I find errors. : )
40 - What is your favorite world that you’ve created for a fic?
I don't have a lot out but BITW is my fav...which is just ACOTAR 2.0. SJM didn’t give us a lot on Montesere so I basically built an entire nation/economy/politics for several months so I’d have something to work with. It’s not perfect but I’m proud of it.
50 - How would you describe your writing style?
I’m cheating here a bit. My writing instructor from when I took a class this year says that I like to write with visceral sensations err… like “feel it in your body” kind of things. I don’t know if my fanfics really embody that, but my original fiction definitely leans on sensations being a major component of my writing. I also am very plot driven.
60 - In [insert fic], what inspired the idea for the plot?
I’ll do a 2 for 1 on this one You’re going to laugh at this, BITW was inspired by The Cruel Prince, Natasha, Pierre, and the War of 1812 (aka War and Peace), St. George and the Dragon, and my desperate need for Eris to get laid by someone who will give him hell first. Heatwave is just inspired by Rockport, MA + My late cousin who had Elain’s job.
70 - Are you subscribed to any writers on AO3?
GreenZeus and LadyTess (both not on Tumblr????? idk). I need to use this feature more often. I didn’t start actually “USING” AO3 until recently so I’m still discovering how this site works haha. I am certain that in a month I will have about 30 writers on this list.
80 - Free space - asker can come up with any writing or fic-related question they want!
You didn't give me a question so I'll ask a random one I just thought of <3: What's the longest thing you've ever written?
Back from 2015-18 I co-wrote a fic with a close friend. It was this very CW-style (like riverdale) queer drama about slightly supernatural-ish teens living in a mansion in the woods. I still have all of it. I wish I could do something with it one day, but the timing isn't right. It's two hundred typed pages...single spaced.

Hey, Kay! It took me a bit of time to come up with my asks for the Fanfiction Writing Asks, but I've reached my decision! My asks are numbers 10, 16, 22, 38, 42, 56, 72, and 77!
I hope you're having a good day so far!
Whew, okay Salty. Let's get into this! Thank you for the asks from this game!
10. Do you work on multiple wips or stick to one fic at a time?
I wish I only wrote one fic at a time! I have so many. One shots, notes, multi-chapter WIPs, story collections... Haven't decided yet if it helps or hinders my creativity haha
16. Do you write by hand, on your phone, or on your laptop?
99% of the time, on my laptop. I will put notes in my phone, or jot down an idea to a friend on my phone. But anything longer - on my laptop!
22. Do you title your fics before, during, or after the writing process? How do you come up with titles?
...usually after. And titles are the absolute bane of my existence. I sit and wait for a title to hit me in the face more times than not! I try to pick something from a line or some theme or central topic.
38. What is your most self-indulgent posted story?
The Favor, without a doubt. My cheesy fake-dating Christmas fic? All indulgence. And I'm so eager to get back to there 'verse.
42. What’s your favorite title that you’ve come up with?
All's Fair in Love and Politics - my first fic, my first title, and the only time I had something in mind before writing. Though, the sequel title Love & Loathing on the Campaign Trail is up there. Plays on words/phrases/other titles are always fun.
56. Are there any fics that you would change or rewrite if given the chance?
Like Mother, Like Daughter. I've thought about rewriting it repeatedly. I had an idea in mind at the end that I scrapped, I felt I rushed it a little bit, and I just think I could do better.
72. What’s your favorite writing compliment you’ve gotten?
I actually just got one tonight that warmed my heart so much about a re-worked canon scene feeling natural with my added thoughts and feelings! I worked really hard on that scene and it was a lovely thing to read.
77. Why do you enjoy writing fanfiction?
Because I always, always, seem to attach myself to the lesser loved characters and tragic ships and I like giving them the happiness I wish they'd received. For the writing itself, I like the community I've found. I like reading other people's work and building rapport and in general, having fun!

20 questions for fic writers!
Tagged by @sensitiveheartless (kind of, they left it open at the end to anyone who wanted to do it)
1. How many works do you have on ao3?
40, as of today!
2. What's your total ao3 word count?
79,131
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Mainly Bungou Stray Dogs, but I occasionally write for My Hero Academia and Sk8 the Infinity as well.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
tastes like candy
raw
Kinktober Day 4: Praise Kink
Kinktober Day 3: Dirty Talk
wanna get out of here?
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Yep, pretty much always! The only times I don’t are if someone leaves a one-word comment or I’m not sure how to respond lmao. I love when people show their appreciation for my writing, so I try to show that gratitude by replying!
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
I wouldn’t even necessarily classify it as angst, but the Fyolai Blood Play fic didn’t exactly end with aftercare and cuddles.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Pretty much all my fics have happy endings. I hate sad endings with a burning passion, so as a treat to myself, I just don’t write them!
8. Do you get hate on fic?
I haven’t so far, thankfully! I have had people comment vague stuff about being “traumatized” by my work, but that’s mainly people who didn’t expect to find smut, I think.
9. Do you write smut?
Yepppp haha, in fact I’ve only recently branched out to writing SFW stuff.
10. Do you write crossovers?
I haven’t yet, but I wouldn’t rule it out for the future. I just haven’t felt inspired to write one so far.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
No, but I have seen a fic that HEAVILY borrowed from one of mine. It pissed me off a bit, but I’ve come to terms with the fact that these things happen.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
I don’t think so. No one’s asked me if they could translate any of my fics, at least.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
No, but I’m curious what that would be like. So far I’ve only ever worked alone in the writing process, so think it would be challenging to adjust to working alongside someone. Again, not something I’d rule out though!
14. What's your all-time favorite ship?
Man this is tough. Fun fact, I have a Pinterest board for ships with 26 subsections of specific ships, so there are plenty to choose from here. Soukoku and BakuDeku are ones I love to write and consume content for, but my favorite to actually write would probably be Ranpoe. They’re just so fluffy! I always feel better after writing a fic about them.
15. What's a WIP you want to finish but probably won't?
There’s this one idea I had based on a BSD theory that ended up being wrong. It would essentially be a long multi-chapter fic where abilities were written out of existence, so the story restarts at the beginning and the characters all eventually find each other, even without abilities or past memories pushing them together. So, for instance, Kunikida would still be a math teacher; Atsushi would never have been kicked out of the orphanage; Yosano would (interestingly enough) be working at a candy shop; and so on. I don’t know that I’ll ever get around to writing it, since it’ll take a TON of research on the canon materials. I’ve started the planning phase but it truly is a mammoth of a fic. Link to my theory if you’re interested in the details.
16. What are your writing strengths?
I think characterization is a strength of mine. I also typically have a first draft that’s like 95% ready to post, since I edit while writing. I usually do a quick read-through, change a word here or there, and post.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Non-character details (like setting). I get too caught up in the action! I can also be impatient with transitions between scenes, hence the massive amount of one-shots.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
I’ve translated one word for a fic, but even that felt a bit cheesy when I did it. I try to avoid it, since there’s almost definitely native speakers out there cringing at literal translations and google translate errors in fics.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
The first one I wrote for was Bungou Stray Dogs, and that remains the one I write for the most!
20. Favorite fic you've written?
Kinktober Day 31. It’s embarrassing to admit, but I must have read it at least 5 times now. I’m really proud of how it turned out.
Following @sensitiveheartless’s example, I hereby tag anyone who sees this and wants to do it! Have fun!

Would I be able to make up for my sins by asking for more info about ur fan kids 👉👈 like you mentioned Golly and Angel had a kid but are there more you'd like to share? Doesn't even have to be Lost souls either, any fan kids you'd like to gush about in general would be nice!
(I know I'm probably not in the position to ask considering I've been tormenting u haha)
...Okay, you're forgiven. Bribery unfortunately works on me KDBDMFHFNF
Daphne, aka Golly's and Angel's kid, is actually my bestie @bluethepearldiver 's OC! they're the AU coowner :] They also have Norm, who's Leshy's oldest kid, and two of Grimora's older kids (tho these are a WIP still to my knowledge) (Blue if you see this feel free to ramble about your fankids too and I'll reblog that bad boy)
SO FOR MY LITTLE BASTARDS THO
There's Zoey, the youngest of the kids (11-15 years old). She's in Lost Souls AU. She's Poe's daughter, dunno who the other parent is but that's not really important since Poe was a single parent. She's a little chaotic and keeps eating shit she probably shouldn't, but she grows out of it thankfully (she eats gummy worms now ("You won't let me eat the real ones so I have to resort to this")). She's just a little menace and I love her for it. She made Norm eat dirt on numerous occasions. Poe had to fight a long custody battle for her (because their parents are cunts) but they ultimately won it and now she's just living her best life with 5 loving parents and forcing her almost trice her age step-brother to eat mud :]
There's Cecil, he's Grimora's/Morana's youngest kid at 18-22 years old. He's in Lost Souls AU. She's been gone for most of his life but he very quickly re-bonds with her, he's a big mama's boy :] Also a filthy enabler to Zoey's antics, he often eggs Norm on along with her (god, save poor Norm). He's a big nerd and often infodumps about comics to his mum and step-parents (who obviously happily listen).
There's Oktawia, Leshy's/Lech's youngest at 23-27 years old. She's in Lost Souls AU. She sticks out like a sore thumb in her family as she's a well dressed young office lady, but despite appearances, she gets along with them very well. She's a trans lady too, and considering her older sibling is enby and dad is a he/they, they often joke that transgenderism runs in the family djfbfn. She also calls Norm "worm boy". No, I will not shut up about Norm being bullied by an 11-year-old girl into eating mud/earthworms.
Peony is my main fankid in H'sE-aligned AUs, but I've been toying with an idea of other fankids (notably Grimora x P03 and Magnificus x P03, but they're not developed yet).
Peony is the daughter of Leshy and P03 which makes her a half-forest-deity/half-human (P03 is a cyborg, but hid that fact because he did not want to unpack All That Trauma with the other scrybes). She's the result of a one time fling, that P03 managed to hide pretty well (and in one flavour of the AU straight up left before he even knew she existed). She was a premie, which added to her dad's worry, but soon enough he discovered that she does better around nature and Leshy so the moment she was able to be taken out of the incubator they moved her to Leshy's cabin (before that Leshy just borderline lived at the factory, he spent so much time with her). She's pretty much raised collectively by the scrybes, though obviously mostly taken care of by Leshy and P03. She's also a shapeshifter like Leshy and the moment Leshy mentioned P03 used to be a stoat she gave herself stoat ears and tail instead (which at first irked P03 a bit but he came to find it cute). She's just...a little cute ball of energy and I LOVE HER. She's adorable, I'd kill for her.
The scrybes have a total of 10 kids in that one AU where they're divorced and making it Luke's problem, but most of them are under construction. Two notable ones, that are yet to be named, are the bio kids of Magnificus and P03. They're twins and the second oldest right after Grimora's and Leshy's kid, and are both based on the Stim Mage card. The boy is just a straight-up stim mage, while his sister has a mix of that and a cowboy aesthetic (P03 has a thing for cowboys and she inherited that). She's still a mage, she just has a cowboy hat...and a gun. The guy is a very hot-tempered fella who loves to annoy Luke, the girl is just there for fun and is friendlier with the poor, poor immortal who's there against his will. She's very cheery but can and WILL beat your ass if provoked.
There are also a few other concepts; All of Leshy's kids have that forest deity vibe. Their oldest, Grimora's and Leshy's bio kid, is obviously themed around bugs, and even though they look a tad bit creepy they're also very graceful, heavy fairy vibes imo. Peony is also here, but she's got more of a jackalope look and is part of triplets; she's got two brothers, identical boys who have a stoat theme and are lovingly called "The Shitlings" by their siblings because they're a very mischievous duo. Grim's and P03's bio kid is a grave keeper and the straight man amongst his siblings (please, he's so tired), but they also built a bot together that's modelled after exeskeleton card. P03 and Mags also had a third child, which is a bot powered by mox. There are also Mags x Grim and Mags x Leshy kids but I don't have much of an idea for them yet, except the fact that the one with Leshy will have a wolf theme.
AMD FINALLY, The Triplets™. Damn, I need to finally come up with names for them, huh? Anyway, I did talk about them; they originated in the Factory Reset AU but I've been planning on adding them to some of my other Grim x P03 AUs like the Gods AU. They're all modelled on the exeskeletom card, are enby and have small differences between them but since only Grimora and P03 seem to tell them apart, they are colour coded for everybody's convenience. Also! Selectively mute, they only talk to their parents.
I've also been thinking about making a fankid for P03 and my OC but I dunno what to do with them yet
