saw a post earlier about how well behaved you were in school/how often you got in trouble and I can't find it again BUT it made me think of a couple of times I got completely REAMED by my teachers.
NUMBER ONE
One time when I was in year 6 so..11? I think? it was 2008/9, I'd just discovered Fruits Basket and was practically in love with Kyo Sohma. That's fine, right? Perfectly normal experience
UNTIL we got set a homework task to write a short 1000 word essay on any subject and what did I choose?
Well. I chose to copy and paste the ENTIRE Wikipedia article about Fruits Basket. The whole thing. And then I painstakingly went through my entire document, removing every single hyperlink so that "Mrs M won't know that I didn't write this and will be so impressed by how much i wrote". ARE YOU SURE. ARE YOU SURE HANAA
she did notice. Almost immediately when I rocked up with a STACK of paper and everyone else had like, one page and I still had the GALL to show off "how much work I did" to everyone else on my table. where is this confidence NOW??? when I NEED IT.
anyway turns out my friend ALSO plagiarised her paper about tigers but she didn't take out the hyperlinks so we both got yelled at for 10 minutes during break, absolutely sobbed our little hearts out and then were told to wash our faces and calm down in the last 5 mins lmaoo
I think the funniest part of this story is that Mrs M ended up being one of my favourite primary school teachers, though I never plagiarised a Wikipedia article again.
NUMBER TWO
The second instance I got absolutely WRECKED by a teacher was in year 8 dance. Yes, dance. I absolutely LOATHED dance. Despised it. Was absolutely HORRIFIED when I started secondary school in year 7 and found out it was MANDATORY for two years.
(Essentially all subjects are mandatory until u choose ur gcse options, at which point you only do the core subjects aka maths english science and then 4 other subjects of ur choice. most schools have u choose options in year 9 bc year 10 is when you sit your gcse exams but THANK GOD my school made u choose in year 8 so you could have a practise run with the subjects you chose in year 9 and change them if u wanted to)
I didn't mind doing drama, (though i HATEd having to take ur shoes and socks off in the classroom), didn't mind ICT or food tech or graphic design or DT or geography. I HATED dance.
And also, unfortunately when I started my secondary school the lessons were LONG. The day was from 8.45-2.45 (unless you were an older student and had later lessons. Having a maths lesson at 2.45 and watching everyone going home SUCKED.) and for the first 3 years while I was there each lesson was AN HOUR AND A HALF. NINETY MINUTES. So you only had 3 lessons a day if you finished at 2.45 but they were really painfully long.
(They did switch to 1 hour lessons eventually and and sometimes you'd have a double period of a subject but that was fine.)
ANYWAY back to the story- despised dance, had to do it anyway. I surilvived one year, but then I had a stricter teacher in year 8 and one time we had an end of year assessment where we'd been practising dance lifts all term and she gave us 45 mins to pair up and come up with a dance sequence that had lifts in it and then perform it to the whole class at the end.
and the thing is, I was (am) a little heavy. So I knew I'd be the one doing the lifting. No problem. Until it came to pairing up because I was shy and quiet I only hung out w two other girls.
do you see where this is going?
those two friends of mine (TRAITORS) paired up so I was left with another shy muslim girl who I vaguely knew as a friend of a friend. She was lovely, honestly but things Didnt Go Well.
and by that I mean she couldn't lift me and wouldn't let ME lift HER so we could come up with something, anything. and I was CHRONICALLY shy. so I wasn't about to go tell the teacher, then my partner would hate me!!
time comes to perform. all of us sit on the floor against the mirror as the teacher goes down the line and sees everyone's performance.
we were last
we had nothing
"what were you doing for the last 45 minutes then girls? everyone else managed to do it, why didn't you?"
i tried to explain as articulately as I could, which is v impossible when you are a 12 year old trying not to start crying as you are BEING YELLED AT IN FRONT OF THE ENTIRE (SILENT) CLASS. my partner didn't cry but she also didn't tell the teacher why she didn't let me lift her.
naturally, we were given detention. and this was in the time when detention was the same amount of time as a lesson. AN HOUR AND A HALF DETENTION. I was distraught. What would my mum say when I had to stay late after school? I'd NEVER gotten a detention before I couldn't believe it!!
the ultra humiliating part was this was at the end of the day and we all got changed in the dance studio, they had like, open lockers at the back to put your stuff in so I couldn't even leg it out of class at the end I had to get changed next to my classmates all while they're sneaking glances at me and I'm just. Sobbing.
I think the teacher did feel bad about how much I was crying though because she told us that she'd email us to let us know when the detention would be and never did. I skipped class the week after just in case she remembered but I escaped unscathed.
#banana speaks 🍌#or: hanaa goes off on too many tangents oops#legitimately i asked my mum ab the dance thing the other day and she was like#'omg yeah you came home an absolute WRECK and said you had to tell me something-that it wasnt your fault but you'd gotten in trouble'#'and i thought something REALLY BAD had happened but you just got detention'#but yeah honestly i was glad to never set foot in that dance studio again#until year 11 tho when our House Leader made all of yr11 go in there on the morning of first exams#and made us all do the cha cha slide and also I am the music man before we went to our exam shshd

I agree, there's something about the Itoshi's that I cannot get my finger into. I tried, and it was a failed attempt. Heck, I watched Blue Lock because of Sae (because he shares the same VA as Geto Suguru). But I am slowly getting into the reading of their character and that's about it.
Also, now it made more sense why our boi Karasu is in Shidou's system, the man (Shidou) just wanna play soccer. Karasu went "naah Rin, ya moody son of a bitch bye" (internal Karasu: his mood swings are far worse than Otoya).
Okay, I call this segment tea time with Jeirin lol
And this is where it hit me in different ways. And I've decided it's definitely like a 'how you been, how you doing in the past few years' but never revisit old feelings trope because you were just kids, you wouldn't have a clue what to do and where things will head from that moment on.
Heck, I remember my first crush well too, his name is Andrei, also the smartest in my class. Got in touch in socials, never once talked. Scenario 1.
Got in touch with a classmate of mine from when we were in primary school. we liked each other but we never got together, but we're still friends. But every now and then we tease each other about our shared history and how we liked each other, and that's about it. Scenario 2.
The thing that left an impact to me and why I cannot so brush this off, I was 'seeing' someone (ex-best friend, yes, I 'saw' best friend but we didn't end up together for various reasons) who also can remember his first crush well, I will name her Lyra. It's been years too since my ex-best friend and his first crush saw each other, and they reunited on his like 17th birthday (or something like that). They got in touch and Lyra confessed to have liked him since they were kids too, and so did he. My ex-best friend ended up dating her for I don't know until when (I heard they broke up eventually and wanted to win me back, but it was too late). Scenario 3.
But so far, scenario 3 is rare but also, surprised that they didn't work out either. Moral of the story, people grow up lol
Just the whole notion of first love/first crush is a-whole-nother sequence of angst to me. You can always get over your first crush easily, but your first love is something different but also, don't be too hard on yourself. There's plenty of people out there. (I had an explanation/probability of this in the AOT fandom and I will not revisit it because it's yea we know how that fandom's like).
That explains why I was so angsty the other day lol sigh, Karasu this is your fault 😂 im kidding.
i actually started blue lock because of a rin edit LMAOAO and then promptly proceeded to…not like rin…actually that’s a lie i don’t really mind him and i acknowledge that he’s pretty and also kinda funny at times but i wouldn’t say he’s one of my favs by any means
HAHA also to be fair rin is like barely 16 and karasu + shidou are both 18 and their birthdays are only really a month apart?? so there’s also probably an age thing there where karasu and shidou can just relate to each other better and consider each other equals whereas rin is younger and given that both of them lowkey have asshole tendencies they’re def like “haha okay kiddo whatever you say” and then side eye each other when rin is being all dramatic 😭 honestly karasu + shidou as besties in pxg is my fav headcanon i think they would be hilarious together…so much potential for being menaces
TEA TIME W JEIRIN OKAY I AM SEATED ☕️ and yesss i def agree w that perspective i think it’s a natural part of growing up and maturing!!
SCENARIO THREE IS BRUTAL WTF 😭😭😭 omg i am so sorry that’s actually the worst 😕💔 but yes sometimes people just aren’t meant to be…the way he realized what he was missing out on though and tried to come back as if you wouldn’t move 😒 the audacity fr…HAHA but agreed i think there’s also a lot of societal emphasis on FIRST kiss, FIRST bf/gf, etc, so people tend to romanticize and idealize those connections in their minds a ton when it’s really not like that…there’s so many people in the world!! like is a boy from your elementary school necessarily the one for you?? maybe not!! and especially as people change and grow and whatnot…even my best friends from back then who i’m still friends with are nowhere near as close as the friends i’ve made now because we’re all different and at different life stages so it stands to reason that it’s the same romantically
the aot fandom is genuinely horrific bro i was in the trenches with attack on titan (originally an eren stan here) but so many people in the fandom are like kind of insane, have no media literacy/reading comprehension, and are WAYYY too cool w excusing genocide 😭 as much as i once loved it idk if i could ever go back to it 😓
HAHA karasu inspiring angst 🤩 we love him for that fr (<- saying this as an angst enjoyer in fiction ofc not as someone wishing angst upon you irl 😩)

Smile Like Crazy (My Hero Academia)
Primary Universe
YES!! I love Shinsou! I’ve started reading the manga from where season four ends and I’m only a few chapters in, but I already love this quiet loner boy so much! He definitely deserves tickles! Enjoy! ^^
~
“So, what made you want to transfer into the hero course?” Denki asked Shinsou one afternoon. They’d run into each other on their way to their separate dorms, and after talking for a little bit had settled on a patch of grass to continue their conversation. For all his talk about not wanting to make friends, the new kid seemed willing to hang out when invited to. “I mean, don’t get me wrong! You’re really cool and you’ve definitely got what it takes to keep up with the rest of us. I just know that you started out in support. So what made you change your mind?”
Shinsou was silent for a bit, contemplating. Denki waited patiently for him to gather his thoughts. One thing he was learning about the quiet student from 1-C was that if he didn’t answer right away, it didn’t mean he hadn’t heard you. It just meant he was figuring out how best to reply.
“Truthfully, it’s more like I changed my mind about being in support.” Shinsou’s voice was low and soft. “I’ve wanted to be a hero my whole life. It’s just that people always saw my quirk as a threat, not a gift. Many have told me I have a villain’s quirk.”
Denki sat up, appalled on his friend’s behalf. “Dude, seriously? What the heck?”
“I joined the support class because I let them convince me they were right.” Shinsou frowned. “But the more the League of Villains acts up, the more I want to prove to everyone that I’m not one of them. I never have been and never will be. I want to join the hero course because it’s what I wanted to do in the first place.”
There was silence for a brief moment. Then Denki nudged Shinsou. “Good choice, man. I knew you were cool for a reason. That’s a great origin story.”
Shinsou’s lips tugged upward in the hint of a smile. “Origin story, huh?”
“Sure! All heroes have one. You included.”
“Hmm.”
Denki smoothly transitioned into his next question. “Do you have friends in the support class? What do they think of your wanting to transfer?”
The hint of a smile was gone. “No.”
“Wait…you don’t have any friends? At all? What about outside of school?”
“Not really.”
“And you don’t want to make any now? Why not?”
Shinsou looked away. “I’ve never needed them before.”
“Everyone needs friends. Even cool loner guys like you.” Denki nudged him again. “Looks to me like you’re making friends whether you want to or not, though, right? I mean, look at us hanging out right now.”
“I wasn’t trying to make friends,” Shinsou admitted, “but I’m not going to actively stop myself from it if it happens naturally. I wouldn’t mind friends. I’m just no good at getting people to want to be around me.”
“Well, you’re doing perfectly fine with me!”
“Midoriya seems insistent to become my friend as well. Everyone else appears content to leave me be until I’m officially in their league.”
Denki shook his head. “Nah, man, they just want to give you space. You said right off the bat you didn’t want to be friends with anyone, and you spend a lot of time alone. They just don’t want to force themselves on you, that’s all. But hey! You start hanging out with us all more, and soon you’ll get the complete Class 1-A initiation. It’ll be awesome!”
“Class 1-A initiation?” Shinsou glanced at him. “You have that? When has anyone else tried to join your class?”
“Maybe initiation wasn’t the right word.” Denki hummed thoughtfully. “Welcome package? Friendship sealer?”
“What are you talking about?”
“I’m not entirely sure myself.” The electric hero laughed. “But you’ll fit right in, trust me.”
“If you say so.”
Again, Denki transitioned smoothly. “So what kind of stuff do you like to do?”
Shinsou seemed caught off-guard. “Like, in my free time?”
“Of course.”
“Um.” The purple-haired boy hesitated. “I don’t know. I read a lot.”
“Because you spend a lot of time alone?”
Shinsou glanced away and shrugged.
Denki nudged him again. “Come on, dude! What’s something you really love? Something that makes you smile like crazy?”
Suddenly Shinsou seemed flustered. “I…don’t know. Why do you keep doing that?”
“Doing what?”
“You keep pushing me.”
“It’s a friendly push.” Denki did it again. “See? Like, ‘hey, I’m here for you,’ or ‘hey, I like hanging out with you.’ So out with it! There’s got to be something you’re passionate about.”
“I’m passionate about becoming a hero.”
Kaminari leaned forward. “What if we could find a way to get you some field work? Like the kind of stuff we do for class?” That got a reaction. Shinsou’s eyes lit up, though his expression didn’t change. Denki pointed at him. “Aha! There we go! We really should find a way to make that happen for you.”
“That would be awesome,” Shinsou admitted quietly, glancing away again.
Kaminari couldn’t help himself. He poked his friend’s side while he wasn’t looking, grinning when Shinsou jumped and whirled to face him head-on for the first time. “Uh-oh.”
“What?” Shinsou sounded nervous. “What was that for?”
“Are you ticklish at all, Shinsou?”
Dead silence.
Shinsou blinked, glancing at Denki’s hands, then back up at him. “I…um…”
“It’s a simple question.”
“I…y-yes?”
Denki reached forward and barely managed to scribble along Shinsou’s side before the taller boy was scrambling back, his eyes wide but – astonishingly to Denki – with a nervous smile on his face. He also noticed the usually quiet kid wasn’t trying to run while he had the chance. Something leapt in his chest.
“All right, then, next question.” Kaminari started to crawl forward. “Do you like being tickled?”
Shinsou’s face went hot pink. “K-Kaminari, h-hold on a s-second…”
“It’s a simple question.” Denki was practically looming over him now, and still Shinsou wasn’t moving away.
“W-Where is this coming from?” He sputtered.
“It’s habit at this point.”
“What do you mean?”
“It’s kind of a thing in our class.” Denki reached down and pinched his side, grinning at the single giggle he got in response.
“A thing? What…?” Shinsou giggled again, curling up when Kaminari kept at it this time. “Whahahahahat kind of thihihihing?”
“You know! A thing!” Denki replied just to mess with him, using both hands to scribble along his sides and stomach. “Like, we tickle each other a lot? Because we’re friends and we like making each other laugh? That kind of thing.”
“Ahahahahahall of you?”
“Most of us, yeah. And just think – if you start hanging out with us more you can be involved in all of the tickle fighting we do! Sound fun?”
“I…I dohohohohohon’t knohow…”
Denki moved up to his ribs, smirking when Shinsou yelped and started giggling more frantically. “Yeah, you do.”
“Kahahahaminari!” Shinsou squeaked, grinning uncontrollably. He squirmed but didn’t really try to push the electric hero away. “Wahahahahahait!”
“You do like being tickled, don’t you?” Denki teased, going a little harder. “I can see it in your eyes.”
“Hohohohohohow?!”
“Don’t question my brilliance. Just accept it.” Kaminari then straddled his new friend and moved up to his underarms. “Tickle, tickle, tickle~”
“Gah! N-Nohohohohohoho, wahahahahahait!” Shinsou dissolved into hysterical giggles. He pushed weakly at Kami’s hands, squirming and blushing but smiling unabashedly all the while. “Wait, Kahahahahahaminari!”
“Wait for what, exactly? Are you planning to tell me your spot? That would be a nice change of pace.”
“M-My…whahahahahat?”
Denki laughed. “You know, your spot.” He moved even further up, trying Shinsou’s neck and ears, pleasantly surprised when the purple-haired boy squealed and scrunched up his shoulders. “The spot that makes you really, really laugh. The spot that tickles so bad you almost can’t stand it. You’ve got to have one.”
Shinsou finally reached up to pull Denki’s hands away from his neck, still giggling breathlessly. “This is…this is all happening so fast. I wasn’t prepared for this.”
Kaminari smiled, but took the opportunity to check in. “Is this okay? I got a little excited when you reacted so well, but I don’t want to make you uncomfortable.”
“It’s okay,” Shinsou confirmed, seeming actually shy rather than just quiet for the first time. “I don’t mind. It’s just…I haven’t been tickled in years. I was kind of thinking I never would be again.”
“Think again, my friend!” Kaminari hooked his fingers into Shinsou’s hips. “You’re hanging with the Class 1-A tickle monsters now!”
“ACK!! NO!! NONONONO KAHAHAHAHAMINARI NOHOHOHOHOHOHO!!” Shinsou shrieked, tossing his head back with unrestrained laughter. It was, Denki had to admit, the best thing he’d ever heard in his life. Well, right after Bakugou’s laughter, anyway.
“Ooh, is this your spot?” Denki kneaded his thumbs into the hipbones, laughing along with his friend. “Seems like it to me! You share a death spot with Midoriya. That’s awesome!”
“STAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAP, PLEASE, KAHAHAHAHAMINARI!!” Shinsou writhed helplessly on the ground, his laughter completely genuine and uncontrollable. He tried to pry Denki’s hands from his hips, but being unable to do so only made it tickle more. “PLEHEHEHEHEHEASE!! NOT THEHEHEHEHEHEHERE!!”
Kaminari laughed again. “You even sound like him when you’re tickled here!”
For several moments, it seemed Shinsou was lost to his own hysterics, laughter spilling out of him in loud, frantic, mirthful waves. He dug his heels into the ground and tried to stifle himself out of habit, but found that Denki would relentlessly drill harder into his worst spot every time he tried, leaving him no choice but to be open about how much fun he was having.
Denki grinned widely at his friend. It was rewarding to help him loosen up and laugh like this. He hummed. “I wonder how you’d like my tickle-shocks?”
For a split second the intense sensations vanished, leaving Shinsou to process what Kami had said only seconds after the fact, when he felt fingers grazing his bare skin. “T-Tihihickle wha-AHHHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! AAAIIIEEEEEEEEEE!!” Suddenly the ticklish feeling was back, only far more intense than it had been the first time, and Shinsou very nearly lost his mind laughing so hard. “STOPSTOPSTOP PLEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEASE HAHAHAHAHAHAVE MEHEHERCY!! KAMINARIHIHIHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEEEEEE!!!”
Denki laughed so hard at Shinsou’s reaction to his tickle-shocks that he had to stop just so he wouldn’t fall over and crush him on the ground. He rolled off of his friend and lay beside him in the grass, giggling words out as best he could. “T-Thahahahaht was the behehehest thing I’ve ehehehever heard, Shinsou!”
Shinsou, for his part, lay panting for breath, still giggling himself. “Thahaht was…the worst thihihihing…I’ve ever enduhuhured…in my life!” He turned his head to Denki, who was already beaming at him. “What was that?”
“My tickle-shocks!” Denki explained proudly, rolling onto his side and propping himself up on an elbow. “I tried it out on Kirishima once a while ago, and it worked so well I just started doing it to other people when I got into tickle fights. It’s an unbeatable attack! Nobody can ever stand it for more than a few seconds.”
Shinsou laughed – on his own this time – and then let out a huge sigh, glancing up at the clouds. “You know, when you asked me what I really liked – what made me smile like crazy – I was afraid to tell you it was this. Tickling.” He smiled. “But if the rest of you all are doing it, why not be part of it? Right?”
“Exactly!” Kaminari smiled back, feeling a warmth in his chest at this unexpected bonding with a new friend. “And don’t worry about the rest of the class. Plenty of us enjoy it to some degree or another. You’ll be in great company.”
Shinsou grinned at him, and Denki couldn’t help but think how refreshing it was to see such a genuinely happy reaction from someone who was usually so quiet and stoic. “I can’t wait.”

This is a series of asks bc, while I do LIKE all the charas of Fantastic Beasts individually, much of the romantic pairings dont sit well with me. By that mean the messy love polygon w Newt & I think I finally figured out why & I'd like another's opinion on it. For starters, Newt's attraction with Tina is too fast for me considering he was friends w Leta, got expelled out of Hogwarts for Leta, carried Leta's photo in his case, & basically loved her for YEARS. But this is all undone by a [1]
jaunt in NY having met a woman, who he admittedly went on a huge adventure w, over the course of maybe a few weeks. He's so taken w her she replaces Leta's photo w her own &, after refusing to go to Paris for Dumbledore, leaves immediately once he finds out she's there. I just find this unbelievable. I can rationalize it from Newt's perspective where Tina is a fresh breeze sweeping into his life on (percieved) unrequited pining, but this is my conjecture based on my understanding of Newt. [2]
The audience shouldnt be left to rationalize endgame couple of the mc on their own. & the whole thing w Leta is so messily handled I dont think they can save it even if they bring her back in FB3. How she feels for Newt vs Theseus & unresolved lingering affection, etc. She & Newt were SO important to each other & we SEE that & they dont HAVE to get together, but they need proper resolution bc they have actual history between them. God Leta in general deserved so much better. [3]
But my main gripe is that this love polygon serves no purpose to what I believe is the main selling point of FB: the world. HP having love stories makes sense bc we're following the story of a boy as he goes through adolescence & his journey through that via school is part of that, which is why the romance feels fitting. It's a very personal story. FB on the otherhand is the best peak we have at the wider wizarding world beyond school. HP introduces the world of magic, but FB rlly expands it [4]
To that end Jakob & Queenie's relationship is the only one I find myself liking, bc it's deeply tied to the world setting, the series' biggest selling point (in my opinion, should have said this earlier). It underscores the attitudes of the period & the conflict they face feels suitably substantial & not like filler. There's a moral question between them of are they worth it? And how far should they go to be together?
Imma be real hear & say FB2 was rlly Queenie's movie & they should have been ballsy & just make Queenie the mc for FB2, bc her story was actually considerably more important to the overall development of the story than Newt's, which mostly came off as a rushed & a tad clichè soap drama. & making it about Queenie I think builds more room for good conflict & independent narrative for Tina that would serve her chara better. [5? 6?]
If I bad to be REAL ballsy, I'd say my big issue w/ the relationships in the FB series & how it enhances or impedes the main story & what I believe to be it's biggest attracter (the setting) could have been solved if they made Newt's romantic interest a muggle. It attaches a deeper meaning & relevance to them & the story so it felt more deeply that they truly moved WITH the narrative rather than beside it but I guess Im just picky. Thx for putting up w this! [Final]
(My response below the cut.)
Yeah, pretty much all of this is right.
Regarding the Tina thing, it was definitely rushed, especially since there was literally nothing romantic between them in the whole first movie, except maybe the end part where they're stumbling over their words. Despite knowing how movies work and knowing that they were the male and female lead, I still found that completely out of left field, because they don't really share any interests and I didn't feel like they felt anything in particular for each other before that. She really wants to be an auror and feels really intensely about it; he just wants to travel the world and write about magical creatures and take care of them. I don't see a lot of compatibility there, and the movie didn't really do anything to reconcile that gap.
Jacob and Queenie made sense, because they actually sowed some seeds for it. It's not even about the fact that they both like to cook; they showed an interest in each other throughout. They noticeably like each other. Newt and Tina never really had that, to me, so it was bizarre for her to become his primary motivation in the second movie.
Queenie's trajectory in movie 2 overall bothers me, so while I agree it would have been better if they'd centered it more around her, I definitely think they needed to drastically rewrite pretty much everything she did. Enchanting Jacob at the beginning never sat well with me; I usually only have to say this in the Descendants fandom, but if one half of the ship is magical and the other half isn't, we can't have the magical one enchanting the non-magical one for romantic reasons without addressing what a violation of trust that is. Like, Jacob would be justified for never trusting her again, over that. Also, the fact that she apparently holds it against people if they think bad things about her is not something I would expect from someone who has been a Legilimens as long as she has, and not a detail I like, at all. Especially since it was used to give her justification to be mad at Jacob after she enchanted him in the first place. I find it sad, because Queenie was definitely my favorite character in the first movie. (Also, joining Grindelwald was a nonsensical thing to do. I can only assume she's there to spy on him or something, because it makes literally no sense.)
As for Leta, I really don't like how that was approached. First of all, I don't like how their mention of her in the first movie was "She was a taker; you need a giver," because once we actually met the character, that only made me resent Queenie for representing her that way. Leta deserved better in pretty much every way, and they definitely shouldn't have killed her off like that. I find the whole situation really iffy from a racial standpoint. The first black character to be written three-dimensionally in all of HP lore, and they make sure to preemptively tell the audience that she's a "taker", kill her in the same movie we meet her, and manage to trivialize her death by turning it into a little "Who was she saying 'I love you' to?" mystery. I like her relationship with Newt and Theseus, and I'd definitely want to see more of it.
Yes, it definitely would have been better, thematically, if they'd made the love interest a Muggle. (I'd honestly say they should've paired Newt with Jacob, but I know they're unwilling to do that. That would be kind of cool, though, to see the movie shaping up with two male characters and two female characters and have the men end up with each other and the women just live their lives as humans.)
With the story they ended up telling, though, I don't think that is needed; since Queenie is already dealing with the wizard/Muggle storyline, Newt could have a different conflict. Maybe his love interest should be a werewolf or something, to tie in the wizarding world's unresolved dislike for "half-breeds". And if he were in a relationship with someone already regarded as a creature, the wider wizarding world might take a different view to his studies and look down on him a lot more. Idk, a thought.
And then, with Leta/Theseus and Grindelwald/Dumbledore (if they were willing to actually deal with that), they'd pretty much hit every controversial beat they've got: wizard/Muggle, wizard/"half-breed", interracial, homosexual. Credence and Nagini are both creatures, kind of, but I still like them together, so their relationship doesn't have to tie into any theme; it just has to be developed way more.
On the whole, Crimes of Grindelwald felt like they skipped a movie. It feels like they needed a middle installment to make these relationships happen, instead of jumping from "Do Newt and Tina maybe have feelings for each other?" to "Newt loves Tina and Tina is possessive enough of Newt to be outwardly upset with him when she thinks he's engaged to someone else," and creating a whole relationship between Credence and Nagini that we see none of.
The fact that Queenie and Jacob were done well in the first movie gives me a fair amount of goodwill for them, but that goodwill only offers enough cushioning from the botching that movie 2 did that I'm near-indifferent to the ship, now, instead of actively opposed. I'd like to see things improved, but as it currently stands, I'd be just as happy seeing them end up not together as together. The fact that Leta's relationships with Newt and Theseus were more interesting than any of the aforementioned makes it that much more ridiculous that they killed her. What ship am I supposed to care about how? If I can't go into the next movie delusionally hoping Newt and Leta will get some moments, or enjoying the Theseus and Leta content, then I'll just be sitting there waiting for Credence and Nagini to share a screen, and who knows when that'll happen?

English! AU (1): “My Name is Hannah England.”
A/N: Yeah, it only took me like... 3 years to release this. Wow. Nice. If you’ve seen the OG post for the details for this AU, then you’ve seen it.
Hannah England. I love her.
Enough said.
Enjoy?
~Shintori Khazumi
"What do you mean I have to come back?!"
An impatient tapping of a foot.
"Well, I can tell you that I bloody won't! Wasn't I removed from the- No! He said it himself. If I were to choose to be a witch, I'd- Mother! NO! Are you listening- Mother I cannot, WILL NOT- We had an agreement!"
She twirled the telephone wire around her finger anxiously until it was so short she had to release it.
No. This could not be happening. No, not now. They had promised! They'd talked about this! This wasn't fair! She had held up her end of the bargain-
"...HAH?! You've sent them to- NO, NO, NO... NO!"
There wasn't even a knock. There was barely even a warning.
It wasn't a cliche breaking down of doors, or smashing of windows, however. It was a swift opening of the door, so fast it barely made a sound.
And there they were.
"N-no..."
"Miss England."
"No... NO! NO, you- YOU CAN'T TAKE ME!"
"These are national orders. I'm afraid there is nothing we can do."
There was nothing she could do.
"W-why..." She choked out, still in a defensive stance, a candleholder held up as a weapon. "We... My grandfather and I agreed on this. I was not to be included in the run-"
"Miss England- no." The bespectacled man caught himself, clearing his throat once before staring at the young girl dead on. "Miss Windsor."
Her eyes widened upon hearing that name, weapon dropping to the floor. She quickly narrowed those same eyes however as she remembered what it meant.
It filled her with rage.
"I- that's no longer-"
"You may only be the fourth in line. However..."
A document was presented to her, with the official signature of... the king... and...
"The prime minister is your primary backer. Do you really think you are in a position to reject?"
"..."
"You have been chosen by most ambassadors."
"Why." It pissed her off. It made her fume. Why. After so long. After all these years. After they'd agreed not to-
"Because according to his majesty... no one is better suited for winning the crown..."
She stepped back as he came forward, grasping her by the arm.
"Than the one who does not want to win the fight for it at all."
//-//-//-//-//
"Hannah? Hannah?" Barbara called out. "We're back?" She went to check Diana's section of the room, the bathroom, and even the closets, hoping to find her best friend in the room. "Hmm... maybe she went for dinner first?"
"Barbara? What's wrong?" Diana walked into the room, brushing some dirt off her coat. This made Barbara automatically check her appearance in the mirror.
"Oh... nothing." Though maybe she should have said that they looked all wrong.
Gosh. They both needed a bath. That five-day mission didn't do their appearances and smells too kindly, it seemed.
She couldn't face Hannah like this. She needed to wash up before meeting the person she'd missed the most these past few days.
Oh, just why did the latest missions have to be pair missions? At least Hannah had gone with Amanda. That put Barbara at ease with regards to her safety. Though, she admitted she was just a little jealous that two of her- ehem- “potential love interests” had been able to go with each other, enjoying themselves without her.
Yes, she’d boldly admit to liking them both.
Sucy’s shaming should never get to her!
Shaking such thoughts and feelings out of her head, she focused on the task at hand. The sooner she got cleaned up, the sooner she could see Hannah! (And Maybe Amanda at dinner, too.)
//-//-//-//-//
A warm shower was only half as good without Hannah.
Ahhhh... just where was she? Barbara could barely wait to sneak into her bed and cuddle 'til daybreak-
"Barbara?" A muffled voice came from the other side of the bathroom door.
Turning the running water off, she replied to the call, "Yes, Diana?"
"Did Hannah mention anything about another mission? I was under the impression she'd just gotten back from the previous one she'd told us about. Or has she not arrived yet?"
Huh? That was strange. Hannah was supposed to have arrived a day or two after she and Diana left.
Wiping herself down and wrapping a towel about her, she exited the steaming room, a frown decorating her features.
"Not that I know of. I didn't notice any notes or letters either..." Now she was beginning to feel strange. "She didn't send any familiar or anything, right?"
Diana mirrored her frown.
"...No. She did not."
A knock came against their door.
"Yes?" Diana answered it as her companion inside quickly got dressed, now in more casual wear.
"Diana! Hannah! Oh, thank goodness you're back!" Akko lunged at her bestfriend, holding tight, that faint blush on the heiress' face going unnoticed. "I was wondering if you knew! I just had to ask! I mean, I'm not that close with her and all yet, but I thought we were friends at least! She didn't say a word! Oh! But I figured you two would know, right? Strange that even Amanda doesn't know... I know they don't always get along, and quarrel and stuff, but Sucy always called them lovers' spats and-"
"Akko." Diana stilled Akko's rambling, grasping her face with both hands, then quickly noticing the intimacy of that gesture and stepping away, releasing the girl. "S-sorry."
"A-ah.. n-no... I-"
"Um... what was... what are you talking about?" Diana tried as she regained her composure. Barbara rolled her eyes fondly at the exchange.
Dorks.
"Oh right!" The girl rushed forward into the room to grab Barbara by the wrist, as well as Diana, dragging them out into the corridors towards the direction of the mess hall.
"Akko?!"
"I wanted to ask you!"
"What?"
They had finally arrived in the dining room, quickly approaching their usual table where the group of friends were gathered about Lotte's magical orb that was now projecting something akin to what one would see on a television screen.
"This!" She pointed.
“What-”
"Why is Hannah on TV?"
"...Huh?!" Barbara suddenly slammed her hands on the table at that sight, surprising everyone including herself because why was Hannah on TV?! And... Why was she next to...
"Also, why did Hannah suddenly have to leave school? It was announced during homeroom for the ones already back from missions."
"What?!" Now Barbara was even more confused. Hannah hadn't mentioned anything about this at all!
"Akko! Shhh!" Lotte scolded, Amanda clamping a hand over their loveable dork's mouth. "We're trying to find out what's going on!"
["The situation in the palace has not been disclosed to the press; however, it seems to be confirmed that dire conditions are currently in place as more and more of the possible successors have returned to the capitol."]
"That reporter is kinda my type- oof!"
"You deserved that." Sucy grinned as Amanda rubbed the sore spot Barbara had inflicted pain on.
"Fuck you."
"No thanks."
["None have been willing to give their statements thus far, but... Oh! We have here the fourth in line! Martin, go get her more focused in the shot since she's the closest- no! Miss Windsor!]
"Windsor?" Akko cocked her head to the side, clearly very confused. "But aren't they calling Hannah? They are calling Hannah... right?"
Barbara didn't really know anymore.
She didn’t know anymore.
Suddenly, a scary looking man came into view, the typical visage of a bodyguard. A low voice growled.
["It was announced that the press was not allowed to interview any of the returning heirs and heiresses. Please return back behind the line."]
["But-"]
The camera view had become shaky, as if the person holding it was being pushed away.
["Miss Windsor! Miss Windsor!"]
["Hey! Didn’t I just-"]
["Miss Hannah Windsor!"]
Barbara stared at the moving image in front of her. This was...There was no mistaking it.
["You're wrong."]
Those words may have seemingly contradicted her inner thoughts, but Barbara knew one thing. This person....
"Hannah..." She murmured, hand clenched over her heart. The girl had spoken up, camera focused on her even at its odd angle. Barbara’s heart couldn’t help but flutter at the voice she’d missed for days. But... it also hurt. To only hear it through a medium like this... “Hannah.”
["You're wrong. My name... isn't Hannah Windsor...] The girl on camera stated with shaky breaths.
She was right. This wasn’t some Hannah Windsor or someone Barbara didn’t know. This was Hannah England. Her Hannah.
So why...?
[It isn’t that... not... any- oi!"]
“Hannah!” Barbara exclaimed, reaching for a Hannah she couldn’t even touch.
["The press shall not receive any statement from any of the arrivals until further notice. Good day."]
A glasses-wearing man had said before speedily ushering Hannah into the gates, figure going further and further away from Barbara's view.
["We have a scoop! Did you hear that?! Did you-"]
[*beep*]
"Heh... think they got shut down?" Amanda commented, everyone still focused on the now-static-filled projection.
"Maybe. But it's too late to hide some weird statement scandal like that. News spreads annoyingly fast." Sucy responded, taking a bite from her mushroom.
"Still... it's weird." Akko chirped. "Why'd they call Hannah, "Windsor"? That was Hannah, right? Or was she a look-alike? Doppleganger?" She proposed excitedly. "But... she's not here either." She deflated.
The fact that her mission partner, Amanda, was here, and Hannah wasn't ruled out a possibility of it just being a mere double existence.
"Windsor...? WIndsor... Hmmm... Windsor? Why do I feel like I've... heard of that.. before..." Barbara watched Akko wrack her brain for an answer, brows scrunched up in intense thought. "Windsor... that's the name of..."
"The royal family." Diana cut in after having watched everything unfold silently.
"Oh! That's right! The Royal family!" Akko exclaimed, happy to finally get that out of mind... before doing a double take, hurting her neck in the process. "THE ROYAL FAMILY?!"
"Akko, shhh!!"
"She can scream it all she wants, Lotte. Not gonna make a difference." Sucy pointed out. "It's already on the news."
Yes. It was indeed.
The fact that...
//-//-//-//-//
"Miss Hannah England is Royalty. Some of you may have caught wind of this kind of rumors or news." Finnelan spoke during the morning assembly. "This statement is something we have no right to confirm or deny. However, Miss Hannah, has been pulled out of school for personal reasons that shall not be disclosed. No questions shall be asked regarding Miss Eng-Windsor... er... ehem... England anymore.”
“So much for confidentiality and defeating rumors.” Sucy rolled her eyes, Jasminka nodding in agreement next to her.
“That is all. Now, with regards to the third years' mission statuses-"
Barbara had tuned out completely at that point.
Windsor.
Windsor this, Windsor that.
She hated it. Barbara hated it.
Hannah Windsor on news and articles.
Hannah Windsor here. Hannah Windsor... Hannah Windsor... HANNAH WINDSOR.
She... Hannah... Hannah wasn't Hannah Windsor... Hannah was...
"Barbara? Are you okay?" Diana whispered, covering Barbara's clenched one in her own. "Do you want to leave the hall? Get some air?"
"No... I'm fine." Barbara looked up, smiling at Diana unconvincingly. "I'm fine."
“Barbara...”
“Really. I am.”
Barbara ignored Diana’s concerned gazes, not wanting to talk about this anymore.
She could handle this.
She said it herself. She was fine. And she was.
But... even though she said she was fine...
Was Hannah fine?
//-//-//-//-//
["Hey. Nice to meet you."
"...hi..."
"You're rather shy." The girl said with a grin. "You're really pretty too."
She felt herself flush red.
"What's your name?"
"B-Barbara... Barbara... Parker."
"That's a really pretty name, Barbara!" The girl held her hand out for a shake. "Let's get along well!"]
Barbara woke up. with a start, eyes immediately scanning the room, going over the spot next to her on the bed.
Cold. Empty.
Barbara held back a sob, hugging her knees tight to her chest.
Her dream... right. That girl. The one who has been by her side for years now, always there. Always so kind... sort of.
That girl... Barbara's best friend, the one who disappeared all of a sudden, the one who showed up on the news yesterday, who had left Luna Nova... She...
She wasn't Hannah Windsor. No.
She was...
["Oh right! I have to introduce myself as well! Silly me.
Hi! I'll be your friend starting today. And My name is...
Hannah England."]

False proposals remain proposals
— Grrr... That fucking KID! I swear next time I'm gonna put my hands on him and finally put him behind bars!
The few policemen who made the bad decision to accompany Inspector Nakamori on his way out to the bar had no choice but to increasingly seclude themselves in their seats in the face of the shouts of their superior. The only person present who seemed unfazed by the din of the man was nothing more or less than the one who organized this small event: the private detective himself Kogoro Mouri, who under the pretext of "it's your birthday" could convince the inspector and some poor devils of the squad to accompany him to one of his favorite bars in the city. Rather the only one who did not need to be convinced was Nakamori. The poor man was so stressed that he had not caught the famous thief in his last robbery two days ago that at the first moment he was offered a jug of alcohol he had already halved it.
- Sure, sure! the culprit interrupted him from his meeting, passing his arm through the neck of the birthday boy. You can worry about that thief another day, tonight is a night to drink!
While the only thing Kogoro was most likely looking for was a mate to get drunk, the officers said the peers couldn't help but think there was something more hidden beneath that "working friends" facade. The detective did not bother to respect the inspector's personal space, not only hugging him with one arm but also giving soft touches whenever he recounted something or a light jolt when the man appeared to stop responding briefly. For someone like Nakamori who considered their space very important... this acting just left them dumbfounded.
Now that you thought about it, haven't you been acting a little close lately?
"Ah, Kogoro..." Nakamori spoke, drunk enough not to remember his companion's last name but sober enough to remember
The detective just mumbled a weak "huh?" before looking at his watch on his wrist. He had to blink a couple of times to stop seeing cloudy and concentrate on the device needles, 1 PM? No, that was-
"One in the morning?" exclaimed suddenly, the adrenaline rush getting him a little drunk. Ran's gonna kill me if I come back so late!
Ran...? the inspector mumbled in confusion before connecting the pieces. Ran was his daughter. He also had a daughter who was probably waiting for him at home. Damn it, Aoko's probably in a rage...
The young cops just felt sorry for them. Like the young people they were, they could still stay at the bar for an extra hour. They did not want to go home, otherwise they would have offered to accompany either man to their homes.
"I'd better take a taxi," Kogoro quickly took his things and prepared to leave, before being stopped by Nakamori.
— Ah, Kogoro, we have to go in the same direction, do you think we could share that taxi?
"I don't see why not," he nodded. Let's go have one on the street, Ginzo.
The officers watched as the two men marched in step, Kogoro again playing his inspector by guiding him with one hand on his back.
Between the three of them looked at each other.
"Hey, don't you think...
— ...it will be possible...
— ...that remotely...
— ...Our inspector and Sleeping Kogoro are dating?
No one at the station seemed surprised to see Nakamori holed up in his office dealing with a powerful hangover. From the moment he entered the building with a face indicating that he was more eager to stay in his bed sleeping than to listen to the complaints of his superior, there was no person in the precinct who wanted to approach because of the fear of irritating him.
A small group of officers had gathered just outside his office, whispering to each other what appeared to be the latest new news from the precinct. The superintendent of Shintaro Chaki, well known for being almost always in a bad mood, was already fed up with his subordinates spending more time chatting like old gossips than concentrating on their daily chores; so he took the opportunity to appear behind the group to repress them.
— What is happening here? asked, very upset about the situation.
"Ah, superintendent! exclaimed the quartet of police among surprised and scared. We were just sharing the news with everyone.
— News? What news?
- You don't know? Inspector Nakamori and Sleeping Kogoro are dating! They are so close that they are even called by their names without honorees.
Of all the gossip I could have heard, the fact that Nakamori had gotten a new partner after so many years was really down the list.
"Oh, oh, oh, my head..."
Inside the Mouri detective agency, Conan watched something amusing as Kogoro bemoaned his hangover lying on his desk. The poor man found himself half-disheveled and with his suit badly worn and wrinkled, he was still wearing the same one from the night before.
"You're an amazing dad." Ran was still quarreling with his father, just as he had barely managed to set foot inside the house. First you're going to drink leaving us alone with Inspector Megure, then I stay up late waiting for you to come back and finally you decide to come back almost noon without even leaving a message on the phone or answering machine!
Yes, Kogoro loved his daughter very much, but the only thing he didn't need at the time was someone yelling at him in the ear at full volume.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry," she murmured as she massaged her temple. But I told you I don't remember anything from last night! I woke up an hour ago at a motel and I came straight here... I think my self yesterday was drunk enough not to remember where he lived and decided to sleep on the road.
The truth is that waking up there was a rather strange event. Few, very few, were the times when Kogoro did not remember how he had come home after having taken until he almost lost consciousness, but even on those occasions he always dawned in his comfortable bed. That's why it was so rare to have woken up in a motel relatively far from the agency, completely naked and also on the floor for having fallen out of a double bed. Worst of all, his body hurt. Moving, walking, anything was uncomfortable. And even if he was in his forties, there was no reason why Kogoro should feel sore after he had taken it.
"When I went to the front desk trying to pay for the room, the employee told me that I had nothing to worry about, that everything was paid for," she sighed. I wonder if anyone decided to guide me to a motel because he couldn't remember my address... he even bothered to fix everything.
Ran went on to berate his father, who simply tried to sink deeper and deeper into his desk to avoid feeling how every word drilled into his head. He almost breathed a sigh of relief when the agency's phone rang and, even if he was not in a position to take any cases, he immediately attended to escape even if it was an instant from his daughter.
— Detective Bureau Mouri, how can I help?
— Mouri-kun! a lively voice answered from the other side. I thought we were friends! I can't believe you didn't tell me something like this.
- Huh? answered in confusion. What the hell was Megure talking about? What was I supposed to tell you?
- Don't play dumb! -Inspector Megure's shout was so loud that even Ran and Conan across the room were able to hear it. How do you think I felt when I found out that one of my closest friends had started dating someone and he wasn't the one who told me?!
For one, two, three seconds.
"HUH?"
Ran had taken Conan to primary school and she was attending her own classes, so Kogoro was now alone at the agency. In theory he was to find himself alone, because in front of him, with his arms crossed and his frown frowned upon, a very annoying Ginzo Nakamori walked from side to side as if going from wall to wall would provide the solution to the problem in which they were.
"Then..." Kogoro began, making Nakamori stop for a moment to pay attention. Everyone in the police force believes that for some reason we are a couple.
"For any reason?" As I heard in the precinct, you couldn't keep your hands still! cried the inspector. Now my superior, Superintendent Chaki, wants me to take my "new partner" to lunch with him and his wife this Sunday!
Mouri snuck into his seat, looking to hide as much as possible from the elder's screams.
- W-but- why did you accept his invitation?
"I had a terrible hangover thanks to your departure last night! I could hardly tell what he was talking to me, I saw myself with no choice but to nod to everything he said. How do you expect that hours after I confirmed to my superior that I was dating, I would simply tell him that I didn't hear him for having the worst hangover of my life? Don't you know how unprofessional that is? I could be suspended!
The detective sighed. They were really in a difficult situation.
- Now what Inspector Megure said makes sense...said he.
"Huh?" What did Inspector Megure say?
- Ah! Well... apparently first he heard the rumors going around your division... And this morning I got a call from him saying that he happened to have to come early to the station and went by the Beika Motel, where he saw you come out first and within minutes of me from the place—he admitted something sad.
For a few seconds they both kept quiet.
But when I woke up in that room I was alone...
"Of course not!" I was just lying on the floor, probably because I fell somewhere in the night. That's why when you woke up you thought you were alone, you couldn't see me on the other side of the bed. Surely I woke up to the sound of the door when you left.
With a whimper of frustration, Nakamori dropped into one of the agency's sofas, too exhausted to think of all the problems that did nothing but pile up.
Everybody thinks we're dating, right? asked Kogoro, to which the eldest nodded. Then why don't we just go play along?
- Play along?
- You know! We had lunch with the superintendent and his wife over the weekend, pretended to keep going out for a couple more days and then we were done! Superintendent Chaki won't know you lied to him, Inspector Megure will continue to trust me, and the other officers will have something else to whisper about for the next two weeks.
Nakamori's first impression was to think that his companion had simply lost his mind. But the more he thought about his options, the only thing he saw possible was what Kogoro was saying. That showed how bad his situation was.
- Good! he resigned himself. On one condition. This will end as soon as possible after that damn lunch.
"Of course I do!" But I too must accept under one condition.
- But you were the one with the idea! Why should you demand something?
— But this must be beneficial to me too! "a sly smile was present on the detective's face." For all of us, we're just going out but there's nothing official yet, so... I want a great public proposal that can become a viral sensation! As today's young people would say: "Do it big or go home."
Nakamori was completely dumbfounded.
"Are you crazy?" Of course not! he growled. We don't have twenty years to do these things! Besides, why would someone like you care about something like that?
"Because," he interrupted, "you just have to think about this for a moment!" The fact that famous detective Mouri Kogoro starts dating one of Tokyo's most prestigious inspectors will be the most important news of the whole month! The public loves gossip," he continued. And, above all, gossip brings fame to those involved. My popularity will grow to the clouds!
For some reason, he wasn't surprised that someone like Kogoro had such a reason to stick with the plan.
— Also when we announce our separation, my mail will be filled with letters from nice girls who want to comfort me! In all those TV scandals it's always the fans who give support to their idols. I could even get an email from my dear Yoko-chan!
There was no choice but to accept.
Surprisingly, Ginzo's confession was a viral hit.
With the help of his daughter Aoko (who was more than happy to be able to participate in something like this) and his friend Kaito, the man managed to film a video in which, laden with gifts, flowers and alcohol, he appeared at the Mouri agency to declare his infinite love for the detective and how much he needed it.
By next morning all of Japan's newscasts were talking about the new Tokyo couple and how popular the two men had become.
Kogoro kept receiving letters from fans congratulating him on their relationship and a few of his love disappointments. Nakamori, meanwhile, was assisted by the detective to have lunch with Superintendent Chaki later that weekend. The man looked strangely happy during the event, even though at work he spent almost the whole day in bad temper it was clear he was quite sensitive to any love-related issue. He could even remember his words in firing the lovebirds in the afternoon: "I'm glad to know you can finally get by. I'm sure Mrs. Nakamori would agree that they make a beautiful couple."
Maybe that's why it was so hard to end that fake relationship after that. It just didn't feel right to do so soon.
The first few weeks Kogoro had taken the trouble to visit Nakamori when there was no customer to keep the farce and keep giving the impression of not-so-young lovers. At least that was his excuse at first, since one day he suddenly realized that the real reason for his visits was to spend as much time as possible with the inspector. More than staying home and watching some Yoko show, he longed more to travel to the police station and simply chat with his "partner" or accompany him until the moment he went home or had a beer at a nearby bar. Far from bothering him, Ginzo gradually began to appreciate every appearance of the detective in his precinct, even becoming disillusioned when he had no news of him for a whole day.
Within a month, when it was already quite safe to announce its breakup, another problem became present. And rather than being frustrated that they couldn't finish everything, deep down they were relieved.
"On the day of the sun, just as Artemis is at the highest point, I am going to take the jewel that is so jealously guarded in the heart of the city.
PD: I send a rose next to this notice to congratulate the inspector on his new relationship and to wish them well. I hope you both can attend my show to receive a surprise worthy of your love.
-Kaitou KID"
Kaitou KID's notices could not be kept secret for long, so just twelve hours after the police received it all the major Japanese media already announced the theft of the famous thief at the same time they used to revive the news of their romance and how they received blessings even from someone like KID. If they broke up now, they were only going to look bad.
The agreement was to wait a while longer after the robbery, until most had forgotten the subject and surprised them with the news of the separation.
But of course, nothing came out as they expected.
Boy, that white-gloved fucking thief had kept his word.
Kogoro ended up accompanying Nakamori to the Beika museum to protect the jewel and, even if he did not finish accepting it, because it had already become a custom for him to see his "partner" work. For some reason he loved to see how the man could control his squad with ease, admired the dedication he put to his work and really left a warm feeling in his chest when in his evening talks drinking at a Nakamori bar he confessed to him that there were few things he loved as much as his work. As promised, Kaitou KID showed up at midnight and stole the jewel in front of the entire police squad and mocking all the security measures taken. At the time of his escape, the thief activated a device that covered the museum's entire main room of confetti and colored papers, raining down even different types of colorful flowers. A bouquet of red roses fell right in front of the inspector, accompanied by a caption reading: "I wish you happiness." and signed by the typical KID cartoon stamp.
And, far from everyone forgetting their relationship, that event only served to make Japanese people want to know more about them and their personal lives. On several occasions the poor men had to deal with reporters and journalists who went to look for them at work or their home in an attempt to get an exclusive interview with one of the two most popular men of the moment. Of course Ginzo, being the professional he was, was always looking for an excuse to politely refuse and get rid of the annoying journalists.
Instead Kogoro...
"Why the hell did you agree to do that interview?" the inspector roared, whipping both hands hard at the desk where Kogoro worked.
- She was a very pretty girl! How could I refuse to receive it? he replied fearfully, aware at the time that perhaps giving an exclusive would not have been the best idea.
"But now all of Japan thinks we're getting married!"
Maybe during the interview the lie got out of hand...
- Sorry, sorry! he apologized over and over again.
Ginzo sighed. Now there was no chance of ending the farce and not being left as the biggest con artists in the whole country. He watched Kogoro give his speech about how he regretted talking to that girl, but he didn't really pay attention to what he was saying. For a few moments he let his mind wander.
Was this fake relationship worth breaking up?
Even if he was the one who was against the idea at first, at that moment the continuation with the detective didn't sound so bad. It could be a little loose, alcoholic, lazy, lazy... several of those were synonymous, right? But by interacting more personally with him over the last few months he had managed to see it in a new light. Aside from his daughter and a few co-workers, Nakamori now longed for someone else's company. Suddenly all the moments with Kogoro stopped being a nuisance to become something I was looking forward to. The subtle displays of public affection had ceased to be embarrassing to feel more special. And the congratulations they received at some point began to leave a warm feeling in his chest.
Would it be possible that...
Kogoro was shocked to receive a kiss on the lips, shutting his monolog instantly and covering his face with such intense red that anyone could mistake him for a tomato. Within seconds Ginzo parted, also blushing and breathing somewhat agitatedly.
- I'm withdrawing my condition. I don't want this deal to end anymore.
The detective still didn't know what to say, barely able to process what had just happened.

(Y/N)’s P.O.V.
“Woah. Hold up.” Jungkook put his hands on my shoulders pushing me away.
As our lips parted I opened my eyes and noticed his horrified expression. I wish I hadn’t. I wish I kept them shut and stayed in that state of bliss for a second longer.
“What?” I looked him in the eyes, scrunching my eyebrows.
“What?” He widened his eyes and shook his head in disbelief. “You just kissed me. That’s what?” I blinked a couple of times trying to understand what he meant.
Yes, I just kissed him. What’s the matter with that?
“So?” I raised my previously knotted eyebrows at him and he just sighed, looking away.
“So?” Shaking his head once again he looked back at me with something of a patronising note in his eyes. “We’re practically siblings, (Y/N).” I felt an invisible hand reach down my throat and grab my heart, threatening to rip it apart.
“What?” I scoffed in shock. “We’re not though.” He chuckled, shaking his head - a motion I was starting to get sick of.
“Still-” He put his hand on my shoulder, shaking it lighty. For the first time in forever his touch made me feel uncomfortable. “-you’re like a sister to me.” The invisible hand tightened its grip on my pounding heart, crushing it irrevocably.
I blinked a couple of times before coughing to clear my throat with hope that it’ll help me mask the fact that I was close to releasing an angry, sorrowful sob.
“You’re right.” I croaked out, giving my head a small shake as I looked away from him - the sight of his face, the one that I loved so dearly right now made me want to vomit. “I’m drunk, I’m sorry. I-”
“It’s fine.” He generously cut off my stutters.
“Yeah.” I sighed, letting my shoulders fall a little lower as Jungkook lifted his hand off me. “I guess I- I-”
“It’s fine.” He interrupted me again as I was trying to come up with some kind of an explanation for myself. “Let’s just forget about it.” The invisible hand turned into a huge paw that slapped me across the face, making both my cheeks turn bright red.
“Yeah, let’s do that.” I said, feeling glad that the sun had set already and the balcony we were standing on was dark enough that he couldn’t see my flushed face.
“God, that gave me chills.” Jungkook chuckled, shaking his shoulders. I looked up at him, getting ready to hit him right across that smug smile. As he noticed my angry expression he raised his hands in an apologetic gesture. “No offense. It’s just so weird even thinking of thinking of you that way.”
“Yeah, shit.” I stepped backwards, leaning on the railing of the tiny, one square meter balcony. I crossed my arms over my chest and looked out onto the buildings surrounding us. How many people out there have been as viciously friendzoned as me tonight? “I guess.” I turned my gaze to my feet and then back up at him. “I’m really drunk.” I added with an apologetic smile. The only way to come out of this situation and still save face was to play along with Jungkook and pretend I was shitfaced beyond the point of understanding.
“I can tell.” He chuckled. My stomach dropped and so did my face. It turned out I didn’t have to act that much to seem shaken up and out of it. Does he know me at all? I looked hazily into the apartment, the party was still in full swing. Why shouldn’t it be? It’s not like anyone knew or even cared what just happened out here.
“I bet I won’t remember any of this tomorrow.” I said and he chuckled again, making a step towards the half open door.
“I won’t remind you.” He said with a silly grin that still made my crushed heart flutter.
“Good.” I pretended to exhale a small laugh as he shook his head and stepped back inside.

Day 1
Thank god for the weekend. After the heartbreaking incident of being ruthlessly friendzoned by my long time crush I needed time to blow some steam off before seeing him again in class on Monday.
On Saturday morning I woke up with a raging hangover from the night before and the bitter memory of Jungkook’s lips on mine. I let myself sulk in bed for over an hour before I forced myself to get up and take a hot shower. I got out of the bathroom feeling like a freshly cooked sausage wrapped in a white towel. My skin was soft and reddened from the temperature of the water that’s been running down my tired body for the past fifteen minutes. As I massaged my favourite flowery lotion into my puffed up face someone knocked on my dorm room door.
“Jungkook, let me in!” The person yelled out as I walked to the door. The sound of my friend’s name made me stop in my tracks. “Jungkook, get your ass up and let me in! Come on!” The pounding on the door grew louder and more frequent with each second.
I twisted the key in the lock and opened the door, not knowing what to expect. Outside I saw an unknown guy, probably close to Jungkook and I in age. He was a little shorter than him, but just as lean and good looking. His light brown hair was down, covering most of his forehead. He was wearing gym clothes and had a big exercise bag draped over his shoulder.
“Finally, I-” His happy expression turned into a surprised one as soon as he laid his eyes on me. Within a second he managed to look my whole figure up and down and as our eyes locked once again he smiled brightly. It wasn’t the same friendly smile though, this time it was an embarrassed one. “Ah, I’m sorry.” He giggled as a light blush spread across his face. It took me another second to realise the cause for his reaction was that I opened the door dressed in nothing but a towel.
If there was one thing dorm living has taught me it was to stop caring so much about what others thought of me. People constantly roamed the halls of my building in pajamas and yesterday’s makeup so I didn’t see anything wrong with opening the door in a mere towel?
“Is- uh- is Jungkook in?” He stuttered out, running his hand through his hair and obviously trying to look everywhere but at me. He must have assumed I was Jungkook’s girl for the night and honestly I still kind of wished I was…
“Next door.” I muttered and he finally looked at me, wide eyed.
“W-what?” He stammered. I had to admit the sight was amusing.
“He lives next door. This is 201, he’s at 203.” I explained and a look of realisation came over his face as he read the number on my door.
“Ah, right. Sorry.” He chuckled nervously and ran his hand through his hair one more time.
“It’s fine.” I said smiling lightly. He apologised once again and thanked me for the directions before walking away with the cutest look of embarrassment I have ever seen. As I closed the door and went back to drowning myself in lotion and sorrow I heard him call out Jungkook’s name once again as he knocked on his dorm room’s door.
Jungkook and I had many mutual friends simply from the fact that we lived in the same building, on the same floor, next door to each other. Often when we went out with our own groups we still somehow managed to run into one another somewhere throughout the night. Usually whenever that happened we would stick together until the latest of hours and walk back to our campus building together. Jungkook and I, together… I shook my head to snap myself out of the painful daydream and plopped down onto my unmade bed. Why was I still imagining myself with him when he was so quick to friendzone me last night?
“Siblings.” I scoffed. “What the hell was he even thinking? What was I thinking?” I wondered in confusion.
We’ve known each other for years, it wasn’t weird of me to develop a crush on the boy after some time. We went to the same primary, middle school, high school and now university. I never even thought of him in a romantic or sexual way until he joined the football team at the beginning of the year. I shook my head again, because my mind was already taking me back to the memory of seeing him play for the first time. I turned on my back and sighed deeply.
“Forget it.” I whispered to myself, knowing well that I won’t be able to do that. At least not yet. Running my hand over the soft linens it seemed as if they were calling my name. I closed my eyes ready to drift back into sleep when I actually heard my name being called. I got up on my knees on the bed and leaned on the windowsill, peaking my head slightly out the open window.
“Her name’s (Y/N).” I heard Jungkook’s groggy voice through his cracked window.
“She’s cute.” I recognised the voice of the sandy haired guy who knocked on my door earlier. “Can you give me her number?” As I heard him ask that question I forgot all about my stupid crush on Jungkook for a moment and smiled, looking out the window onto the campus grounds.
“You know she tried to kiss me last night?” My stomach dropped at the sound of Jungkook’s words. I immediately closed the window and reached for my phone. I opened up Spotify and played my Daily Mix on the highest setting. Right as the soothing sounds of Crush’s new single filled my ears I started dressing up.
All I yearned for was the comfort of my grey sweatpants, but I knew that if I were to walk out this door in them I would feel like shit for the rest of the day and do nothing of substance. I cursed under my breath before reaching for a pair of jean shorts and a red tank top. I threw on my favourite hoop earrings and a pair of Nike sneakers. Looking at myself in the mirror that hung on the inside of my wardrobe’s door I nodded in satisfaction. Putting on nice clothes made me feel a bit more motivated to do something other than sulk over being so harshly rejected last night. I pulled out my phone to text my girlfriends to go out for a late breakfast. Right as the screen lit up an unwanted notification appeared at the top of it.
10:47 [Jungkook] can u turn it down pls? im hungover as fuck rt now
I decided upon leaving the text unopened and proceeded with getting ready. I sat down at my desk and started putting my makeup on. With each stroke of a brush, each pat of a beauty blender I felt myself become more and more agitated. He was texting me while dishing to this random guy about how I threw myself at him last night. I couldn’t stop thinking about it all. Me kissing him, him pushing me away, me being blind enough to assume he would feel something as well… I wasn’t drunk. I drank that night, but then I was barely tipsy. I knew what I was doing when I leaned in and kissed him. Fortunately for me he didn’t know that.
I threw my bag over my shoulder and walked out my door shutting it loudly behind myself. Strutting down the corridor of the dorm I decided to reforge all my sadness, embarrassment and anger into something positive. I haven’t told anyone about what happened last night so it was still possible for me to play the ‘too drunk to remember’ front. I texted my girl squad to meet up and put a pair of dark sunglasses on my nose as I walked out of the building into the blinding sunlight.
My best friend Lisa was the first one to arrive at the restaurant I chose for our late breakfast. As she walked my way I knew she knew something was up with me.
“What’s wrong?” She asked sitting down next to me. “And don’t even try to say ‘nothing’.” I sighed, leaning back in my chair. Lisa was the only one I told about my crush on Jungkook in the first place so why not tell her about my failed attempt to make it work with him… Right?
“I kissed Jungkook last night.” I said bluntly and she lapped my arm, gasping.
“No.” She whisper-yelled, leaning towards me. “How was it?” I couldn’t help, but smile a little at her excitement.
“He pushed me away and said we’re practically like siblings.” I whined, remembering his hurtful words. Lisa gasped once again, but this time instead of hitting my arm she rubbed it comfortingly.
“Oh, no. I’m so sorry.” I rested my head on her shoulder and breathed out heavily. Lisa wrapped her arms around me in a warm hug. “It’ll be alright. I know tons of guys that would kill to get kissed by you.”
“I wanted him though.” I whined sitting up straight.
“I know.” She grabbed my hands in hers and smiled brightly. “But hey, there might be something good coming out of this whole situation.” I leaned my head to the side, eyes full of doubt.
“Like?”
“Well, you never moved into the Alpha Psi house even though you’re a sister, because you wanted to be close to your stupid crush. Right?” I looked away, feeling a blush of embarrassment creep onto my cheeks. “And now that he so viciously friendzoned you what’s left keeping you in that disgusting dorm?” I looked back at her with understanding.
“You’re right.” I nodded slowly. “This is actually perfect.” Lisa’s smile grew wider along with the levels of my excitement. “Fuck him, fuck the dorms. I’m moving to Alpha Psi.”
“This is perfect!” Lisa exclaimed, crushing my palms in hers.
“What is?” Both our heads snapped up to see Jennie and Rose, walking up to our table.
“You better sit down before I tell you.” Lisa warned the two girls and they followed her order with intrigued looks on their faces. “(Y/N)’s finally moving in!”

Day 3
I looked around the lecture hall in search of an empty seat. As I scanned the room I noticed a hand waving at me to come over. Focusing my gaze on the person I recognised Jungkook. Walking towards him I ordered myself to stay calm and pretend nothing happened.
“Hey.” I breathed out sitting down beside him.
“Hey, where have you been?” He asked, turning in his seat slightly. “I haven’t seen you all weekend.” The fact that he noticed my absence at the dorms made me feel warm inside, but I quickly waved the feeling off remembering how shit I felt on Friday, all thanks to his smug face.
“Oh, I was at the Alpha Psi house.” I said casually, pretending I didn’t just notice him raising his eyebrows at me suggestively at the mention of my sorority.
“How are your sisters by the way?” He asked, scratching his chin with a dreamy smile on his face.
“Great.” I set my bag on the ground in front of me with a loud thud. “I finally decided to move in with them.”
“Hm, a perfect reason for me to come visit.” He chuckled and I rolled my eyes. How did I manage to develop a crush on this guy? He clearly has only one thing on his mind…
“No luck, Jungkook.” I shot him down. “No boys allowed in the house.” He groaned tiredly and opened his mouth to say something, but was interrupted by the professor's commanding voice asking everyone to take their seats.
The old man announced that starting today and until the end of the spring-summer semester in four weeks we will be working on a project regarding whatever he was teaching. Since I always sat with Jungkook in his classes I ended up never really listening to what he was saying which led me to being totally clueless when he started reading out the topics of individual projects he’ll assign to us.
“Wanna do this together?” Jungkook nudged my side right as the professor said we’ll be working in pairs.
I looked at him with my mouth slightly open, not knowing what to say. Of course I want to do this together! But at the same time the proximity of our bodies was making me sick…
“I guess-” My answer was cut short as the professor started reading out individual students' names assigning them to specific topics.
“Shit.” Jungkook groaned leaning back in his seat and I smiled lightly, knowing that for now I was saved.
“(Y/Full/N) and Park Jimin.”
“Ah, really?” Jungkook scoffed. I looked at him, crossing his arms in his seat with an annoyed expression.
“What?” I asked writing down in my phone the name of the boy I had no idea was in this class with me.
“That’s my friend.” He explained and turned towards me with a grin growing across his face. “Switch with me.” I rested my back in my chair weighing the options in my head.
“Who do you have?”
“I don’t know yet.” He shrugged.
“Jeon Jungkook and Kim Taehyung." The professor read out.
“Forget about it.” He shot me down before I could say a word. Taehyung was one of the best students in the class and working with him would definitely earn Jungkook a good grade for the end of the semester.

Day 5
Since Jimin was absent during the lecture the professor assigned the project’s topics I asked Jungkook for his number so I could message him about it. I finally got around to doing it on Wednesday afternoon. I was sitting at a cafe on campus looking through the menu when he texted me back with a proposition to meet up in person. For some reason I felt reluctant towards meeting up with one of Jungkook’s friends. What if he told them about my little kissing escapade? I sighed typing back an ‘okay’ and asking him if he could see me right now, knowing the project won’t just do itself.
17:42 [(Y/N)] im at the cafe in building 23
17:43 [Park Jimin] omw
By the time six rolled up the cafe practically emptied. I sat at a table with two small benches on its sides stirring my iced smoothie with the paper straw. I glided my finger across the laminated menu wondering whether to order now or keep waiting for Jimin, fortunately I didn’t have to wonder for much longer.
“Hey.” My head snapped up as a light brown haired guy sat down across from me. He smiled sweetly, going over my figure shamelessly before looking me right in the eyes. “It’s you.”
“Hey.” I said returning his smile without hesitation. His face looked somewhat familiar, but I couldn’t put my finger on why.
“I liked your other outfit better.” He said gesturing to my white flax shirt that I half-tucked to my jean shorts. I raised my eyebrows unsure of what he meant. He grinned, running his hand through his hair slightly embarrassed. “I- uh- the- the towel.”
“Oh, you.” I exclaimed in realisation. “Hi.” He nodded, still smiling. As he moved his head his multiple earrings shined in the cafe’s dim lighting.
“Jimin.” He reached his hand across the table and I took it shaking it lightly.
“(Y/N).” I said holding up a smile despite coming to one more, this time shocking, realisation. This boy was the one Jungkook told about the stupid ‘drunken’ kiss and god knows what else.
“I know.” Jimin released my hand from his with the same sincere smile that seemed more like a devilish grin in my now close to paranoid state. I raised my eyebrows once again, though I already had an idea regarding where he heard about me. Jimin leaned back in his seat, no longer embarrassed. “Your reputation precedes you.”
“Excuse me?” I scrunched my eyebrows somehow feeling that my reputation wasn’t anywhere close to squeaky. “What do you mean by that?” Jimin smirked, scratching his chin.
“You’re a known party girl and…” He made a pause to look away for a second and poke the inside of his cheek with his tongue. When we finally locked eyes again he was grinning cheekily. “Boys talk.”
“Yeah.” I scoffed leaning back on my bench and knotting my arms across my chest. “That I know they do.”
“Mhm.” Jimin hummed and took one of the laminated menus from the table. He scanned the page over casually before speaking up again. “You’re the topic of the day at least once a week.” He said, still reading the menu.
“Amongst?” I squinted at him slightly, wondering about the crowd on which’s lips I am on so often. He glanced up at me quickly before tossing the menu back on the table with that same satisfied smirk plastered across his handsome face.
“My football team for starters.” He put his hands between his legs leaning forward, making his chest touch the edge of the table.
“You play football?” His face expression changed from something along the lines of ‘i know something you don’t know’ to something more… Cocky.
“Yeah.” He leaned back again, resting his back on the wooden bench, his chin elevated slightly. ”With Jungkook.” I nodded slowly, scanning his face with my piercing gaze.
“Huh, I guess I never noticed you.” He appeared to have visibly shrunk for a moment at the sound of my words. Quickly he recollected himself, going back to the confident smile that - I have to admit - fit him perfectly.
“You will from now on then.” He said, cocking his eyebrow at me and I couldn’t stop myself from exhaling a weak chuckle.
“Hopefully for all the right reasons.” I said relaxing my shoulders. There was no reason - other than Jimin possibly knowing everything about my ‘drunken’ mistake from the other night - for me to feel uncomfortable or inferior to him. I decided to keep my front up and pretend, just as much in front of myself as in front of him, that I don’t remember anything that happened last Friday night. “Let’s get started on this hell of a project.”
“Before we do-” He cut me off, putting his arm on the back of the bench he was sitting on. “-I have a question.” I raised my eyebrows at him, taking a long sip from my smoothie. “You’re an Alpha Psi, right?” I smiled leaning back in my seat.
“Mhm.” I simply hummed in answer to his question. Party girl, Jungkook’s friend, sorority sister. What else did he know me as?
“It’s really a miracle we haven’t met before.” He smiled, shaking his head. “I’m in Theta Sigma Phi. Rush Chair.” I widened my eyes at him as he described his position.
“It is a miracle.” My interest in his person grew as I tried to go over all the boys I knew from his fraternity in my head. “I thought I knew all the exec boys from your frat.”
“Must have slipped your mind.” He smiled at me from across the table.
“Must have.” I said, looking into his dark brown eyes. “I just rushed this year so I’m still a baby.” I chuckled lightly.
“Not that much of a baby, Miss Treasurer.” He smiled at me showing his perfect white teeth. He either did his homework before coming to meet me or I was that loud of a bitch that everyone knew who I was and what I did way before I even met them. Either way the fact he knew this much about me when I knew nothing about him made me feel both a little unsettled and excitedly curious. “Rumor has it you’re after the Vice President chair.” My eyes involuntarily turned into small slits as I heard the words ‘vice president’. He noticed the change in my expression and laughed loudly. “They say you’re ambitious.”
“Who says?” I didn’t even try to sound casual as I asked him, reaching for my drink. His smile turned into a cocky grin as he stretched in his seat.
“Jungkook.” I rolled my eyes at the name.
“Of course.” I scoffed. “That boy can’t keep his mouth shut. Say one thing once…” I took a big sip of my icy beverage, trying to calm my nerves.
“Also Jisoo says she wants you as her Vice Prez when she takes over next year.” I choked on the ice as he said the name of the current Vice President of my sorority. “You okay?” Jimin laughed at my reaction.
“When did you talk to Jisoo?” I asked when I finally caught my breath again.
“Uh, sometime over the weekend.” He scratched his head in wonder. “Sunny’s graduating this year and-”
“I know how it works.” I interrupted him angered that he knew so much about my sorority.
“I never said you didn’t.” He raised his hands in an apologetic motion.
“Let’s get on with this project.” I sighed putting my empty glass down and Jimin stood up. I raised my eyebrows looking up at him. “Where are you going?”
“What, you wanted to work here?” He asked, throwing his backpack over his shoulder. I nodded and he shook his head smiling again. “No way, we’re going to your house.”
“Uh, no way.” I looked at him with a satisfied grin, still sitting down. “Alpha Psi does-”
“Doesn’t allow boys inside the house.” He finished my sentence in a joking tone. “I know. I hoped I could trick you.” He chuckled innocently. “Come on, we’ll do this at my house.”
-
Day 6
Jimin’s P.O.V.
“Should we take a break?” I asked, laying my upper body over the table in my fraternity’s chapter room.
(Y/N) looked over at me from across the table, her face resting in the palms of her hands. The way her body was positioned made her top scrunch up slightly over her chest showing off a bit more cleavage she might have wanted it to. I couldn’t help but imagine her in that skimpy towel I saw her in the first time we met.
“Yes.” She finally breathed out, letting her arms fall on the counter. She quickly straightened up and stretched her hands over her head, bringin the tops material back in its place. “I should go home.”
Looking at the clock I realised it was already ten minutes after midnight. We met to work on our sociology project around six in the afternoon, but spent more than half of the time bonding over our experiences being part of the greek life only starting to gather information and brainstorm about our designated topic about an hour ago.
“I’ll walk you.” I offered standing up from the table as she packed up her belongings.
“I live down the street. There’s no need.” I stretched my arms, nodding slowly.
“If you say so.” I walked her to the door and frowned as the night’s cold wind came through it when I held it open for her. “Wait a second.” I said shutting the door closed.
“What?” She asked behind my back as I was already jumping up the stairs to get to my bedroom.
I rummaged through my closet searching for a clean sweatshirt, preferably one with my name on the back of it.
“You’re in deep, Jimin.” I chuckled at my own possessiveness. “Coming!” I yelled as I finally found the piece of clothing I was looking for. Skipping down the stairs I pulled a grey hoodie over my head and as I approached (Y/N), waiting for me by the door, I handed her a navy zip-up. “Here. It’s cold.” She took the sweatshirt and zipped it all the way up without a word. “I’ll walk you.”
“Jimin, I literally-” I cut her off breathing out a hiss.
“I’m walking you.” I repeated myself and she just smiled pushing the heavy oak door open. I held the door for her, staying behind to take a look at my masterpiece - ‘Park’ written in golden lettering over her shoulders.
-
Day 8
Jungkook’s P.O.V.
I was stretching by the coach’s bench before the big game when I noticed her, sitting in the bleachers, fourth or fifth row. She was smiling, talking to a brown haired girl to her right, looking down at her phone.
“(Y/N)!” I called out straightening up. Her head instantly shot up, looking around. I waved and called her name again. Finally her friend pointed her towards me and our eyes met. I gestured for her to come down and rested my elbows on the railing separating the field from the bleachers, waiting as she skipped down the steps with a smile on her face. “What are you doing here?” I asked, leaving out unnecessary greetings and pleasantries.
“Cheering for my university’s team.” She answered resting her palms on each side of my arms. I looked down with a smirk before straightening up and crossing my arms over my chest.
“You mean for me?” I asked and she raised her eyebrow at my teasing comment.
“You wish.” She spat back with a smile. I already opened my mouth to let her know I have to go join my team as the game was about to start when something unexpected happened.
My teammate Jimin came out from the door under the bleachers, he must have just left the locker room. I nodded his way as a sign I’ll be joining him on the field in a minute and he nodded back before quickly averting his eyes from me to (Y/N). Now, I’m no expert, but his eyes changed when he looked at her. It felt borderline inappropriate. My smile faded as he made his way towards the two of us, eying (Y/N) from head to toe, instead of walking towards the main entrance to the football field. He pushed on the small gate in the railing opening it to walk onto the green grass.
“Hey, (Y/N).” He said walking past her with a cocky smile I knew so well from the many times we went out to bars together to pick up girls.
“Hey.” She smiled back and I swear I never saw her look at anyone like that. I followed Jimin with my gaze as he started jogging to the rest of the team. “Good luck.” My head snapped back to (Y/N) as she smiled at me before walking away to join her friend in the bleachers. With a weird feeling in the pit of my stomach I jogged towards my team.
“What was that?” I asked standing next to Jimin. He was warming up with some high kicks, but switched to stretching his shoulders when I came over.
“What?” He asked, confusion on his face. I shook my head and also started stretching.
“Why are you talking to (Y/N)?” I asked him bluntly.
“We’re…” He stopped to think of the right word, but when he finally spoke again I wished he hadn’t. “Friendly.” He smiled brightly showing his teeth.
“Friendly?” I scoffed and stopped stretching to rest my hands on my hips. “What is that supposed to mean?”
“What do you mean?” Jimin asked, scrunching his eyebrows as he reached both his hands behind his back to stretch his chest. “We’re doing a project for sociology together.”
“She’s off limits.” I said through gritted teeth, not even looking at him, not caring that the reason behind their ‘friendliness’ might be as simple as them doing a project together.
“What?” He gasped with a chuckle that made my blood come close to boiling. “Since when?”
“Since always.” I finally looked at him again. He had his hands on his hips, mirroring my movements so I crossed my arms over my chest, trying to become visibly bigger. For some reason I wanted to look intimidating right now.
“Boys, positions!” Our coach called out cutting our altercation short.
I jogged towards my spot on the field. As I leaned forward resting my hands on my knees I looked to my left at the bleachers. From this distance I was unable to find (Y/N) in the crowd. I glanced to my right and saw Jimin staring forward, this time nothing but will to win in his eyes.
-
“(Y/N)’s off limits.” I breathed out jogging next to Jimin towards the opposing team's side of the field. I couldn’t stop thinking about him, her and their meaningful stares. It felt wrong. It felt disgusting. Jimin and her… Over my dead body.
“What?” He panted, glancing at me confused. “You’re still talking about this?”
“She’s practically my sister.” I said looking down at him. Jimin chuckled, his eyes focused on the black and white ball in the distance.
“She’s not though.” He said in a suggestive tone.
“Yeah, well I don’t want you being ‘friendly’ with her anymore.” I hissed, running a little faster to increase the distance between us.
“Oh, fuck off.” I heard him call from behind me. “I’ll be ‘friendly’ as much as I want.” He said catching up to me. “And for the record.” He glanced at me over his shoulder as he ran in front of me now. “I’m not the only one acting ‘friendly’.” He chuckled with a grin and I almost tripped over my own feet.
”What did you just say?” I asked and he chuckled again, turning to face me and jogging backwards for a moment.
“You heard me.” He said, cocking his eyebrow. As he turned forward again I picked up my pace and ran by him hitting him with my shoulder hard enough to make him stumble and almost fall to the ground.
(Y/N)’s P.O.V.
“I thought you said they were good.” Lisa whined in the seat next to me. I sighed looking at the scoreboard, our university’s team was far behind its rivals and the second half of the game has already started.
“That’s what Jungkook always told me.” I looked around the field looking for my friend and noticed him jogging along the white ‘out’ line. “Jimin said they were in top shape just yesterday.” I added noticing the guy next to him was Jimin himself. “I don’t understand why they’re playing so shit all of a sudden.” I whined, keeping my eyes peeled to the two of them.
Jungkook picked up his pace leaving Jimin behind, but he quickly joined him by his side. After a couple of seconds he went in front of him, even from this far I could make out his smile. He turned to Jungkook jogging backwards for a moment before facing the right direction again. Then the other one matched his speed and ran over to him hitting him with his shoulder so hard he almost fell to the ground. I gasped.
“What’s going on there?” Lisa asked, straightening up in her seat.
“I don’t know, but it doesn’t look good.” I said, stretching my neck as far as I could to see more of what was going on on the field.
“Oh, shit.” Lisa hissed as Jimin ran over to Jungkook again. The taller one turned around and pushed him away harshly. “They’re gonna fight.” She said with both excitement and anxiety lining her words.
Fortunately the fight ended right where it started. Jungkook pushed Jimin once again earning himself a yellow card before the coach ran over and separated the two. Jimin kept his cool and walked off to the rest of his teammates shaking his head.
“This is just sad.” I sighed after the next fifteen minutes passed. Looking at my phone I realised there’s still about twenty minutes until the end of the game, but I didn’t really want to stay any longer.
“Should we go?” Lisa looked at me with begging eyes.
“I kind of want to, but I don’t want to be a dick to Jimin or Jungkook.” I answered her truthfully.
“It’s not like you told them you’re here to support any of them or they invited you or something.” I looked at her with a weak smile as she spoke. She was right. It’s not likeI was here for any of them… Right?
“Alright.” I sighed and grabbed my bag from the floor. “They won’t win anyway. Let’s go.” We stood up and squeezed through the crowded bleachers.

Day 10
Walking to my morning Philosophy class I felt more than happy that I decided to move to the Alpha Psi house. It was located in the Fraternity-Sorority Row that was way closer than my dorm to most of the buildings I had my classes in this semester. Walking by the Theta Sigma Phi house - Jimin’s house - I noticed a familiar car.
“Jungkook?” I asked stopping by the vehicle. The buy peeked his head from behind the car, holding a carton box in his arms. “What are you doing here?” He shut the trunk loudly leaving my question unanswered.” What’s going on?” I asked again, not letting him go without getting an answer.
“I’m moving.” He said simply, locking his car.
“Here?” I pointed my head towards the frat house and he just hummed in agreement. “I didn’t know you were rushing.” I said, beginning to feel uncomfortable in his presence.
“We keep our rush procedures a secret, (Y/N).” My head snapped from Jungkook’s intimidating figure back towards the house.
“Jimin.” I said greeting him with a smile as he approached the two of us. “Congratulations. You got a real good brother on your hands.” I tried to sound as sweet and sincere as I could, unwittingly referring back to the time Jungkook said we were like siblings. “How fun. We’ll be neighbours again.”
“Yeah.” Jungkook answered in a dead tone.
“You need any help?” I asked after a moment, not sure whether I wanted him to agree.
“No.” He shut me down quickly.
“You got my hoodie?” Jimin asked, breaking the awkward silence that settled between Jungkook and I.
“Oh, no.” I whined cutely. “I left it home. I can bring it by after classes if you need it.”
“No need.” He waved me off and I started wondering why he even brought the topic up in the first place. “It looks better on you anyway.” I smiled at his compliment before looking down at my phone and realising the time.
“I have to run.” I sighed, putting my hands in the pockets of my jean shorts. “But if you need anything you know where to find me.” I smiled at him and then averted my eyes at Jungkook who stood in front of me with the most serious expression. “Both of you.”
Jimin’s P.O.V.
I shamelessly checked (Y/N)’s ass out as she walked away, her jean shorts hugging her hips just perfectly.
“Keep it in your pants.” Jungkook scoffed as he turned to walk towards the house.
“Really?” I asked, still standing on the sidewalk. “Really?” I repeated myself, but he kept walking. “I can’t believe you’re still mad about me hanging out with her.” I called out after him. “She’s not your sister, Jungkook.” He walked inside, shutting the door behind himself loudly.
I sighed unsure of what I should do. Jungkook was my friend and now my frat brother as well, but there were no rules in the guy’s code of honour when it came to girls your friend felt were like his sister, but really weren’t. There were rules about sisters and other relatives, exes, crushes, but nothing about, well, (Y/N). I already told Jungkook that I had my eye out for her when we first met in their dorm building and he didn’t seem to have any objections then.
“For fuck’s sake.” I sighed as I pulled my phone out of my pocket.
9:59 [Jimin] project tonight?
10:03 [(Y/N)] can’t. chapter meeting.

I debated for a moment before sending the next message.
10:10 [Jimin] pick me up from practice? ;)
10:11 [(Y/N)] c u there :*
I exhaled loudly as I read (Y/N)’s answer, making a mental note to myself to work extra hard in practice tomorrow in case she decided to show up earlier.
-
Day 11
(Y/N)’s P.O.V.
I scrolled through my Instagram feed mindlessly as I walked towards the football field. It was already five minutes past seven when I finally made it to my destination. Looking around the vast space I didn’t see any players. I pulled my phone out to text Jimin.
19:05 [(Y/N)] im here
“Hey.” Looking up from my phone I saw Jungkook walking my way with his exercise bag over his shoulder.
“Shit.” I hissed under my breath, totally forgetting Jimin and he were on the same football team. It wasn’t that I didn’t want to see him, well… Maybe a little. He was so weird the last time I saw him and my heart was still fragile from him rejecting my kiss.
“What are you doing here?” He asked, stopping just a step away from me. “Came to see me?” He wiggled his eyebrows at me and I rolled my eyes at his teasing.
Before I could open my mouth to shoot him some kind of a comeback I heard my name being called from behind his back. He stiffened looking over his shoulder, noticing Jimin walking our way with a bright smile.
“Hey.” I greeted him as he stopped next to Jungkook, the height difference more visible than ever before.
“Hope you didn’t wait long.” He said in a chipper tone, adjusting the hold on his bag.
“I just got here.” I said, reciprocating the smile.
“Let’s go.” Jimin ordered and we both started walking, leaving Jungkook a step behind us. He quickly matched our pace, walking on my right hand side, Jimin on my left.
“Oh, I didn’t notice your text.” Jimin said in an apologetic tone as he scrolled through his notifications. Jungkook raised his eyebrow at me questioningly, but I decided to ignore him. “Honestly, I was hoping you’d come a little early.”
“Why?” Jungkook and I asked in unison, making Jimin chuckle.
“‘Cause.” He averted his gaze to his feet before glancing back at me. “I wanted you to see me play.”
“I just saw you last week. You were pretty bad.” I shot back, giggling lightly.
“Touche.” He scoffed, jokingly shoving my shoulder with his. “We’re playing again at the end of the month.” He stuffed his hands into the front pocket of his sweatshirt. “I’ll make sure to play extra well if you decide to show up.”
“I’ll think about it.” I teased him, looking away.
“I have something to do at the dorms.” Jungkook muttered before taking a sharp turn right and walking away without any further explanations.
“Uh- Bye.” I called out looking at his back. “What’s with him?” I asked Jimin as we kept walking towards the Fraternity-Sorority Row.
“You tell me.” He shrugged. “We’re not really on talking terms right now.”
“What happened?” I asked, truthfully concerned.
“I don’t know.” He sighed, clearly not wanting to elaborate much on the topic and I didn’t dig further.
Jimin’s P.O.V.
I was ready for us to sit down and relax while pretending we’re doing research, but when (Y/N) pulled out her laptop and started spewing questions at me I knew that was not going to be the case. We ended up almost finishing our Sociology project that night, only thing left was to send out our survey and go through the results in a couple of days.
“Can’t we just forge it?” I asked, rubbing my tired eyes.
“What?” She frowned, scrolling through something on her computer. She was sitting on the couch opposite to me, her hair tied in a messy ponytail at the top of her head. She looked so pretty.
“The results.” I explained, keeping my eyes glued to her chest rising up and falling down rhythmically.
“But then we’ll be done and I won’t have a reason to hang out with you anymore.” She whined sweetly and I chuckled, taken aback by her cheeky answer. I leaned my back against the comfortable couch now looking at her face, her eyes still focused on the screen instead of me. I couldn’t help, but feel jealous.
“Come over whenever.” I said in a low voice. “No reason needed.”
“I just might.” She smiled, typing something on the keyboard. “Alright.” She slapped her laptop closed. “I’m going home.”
“Already?” I straightened up in my seat.
“It’s close to ten.” She stated, packing up her things.
“Is it?” I asked more myself than her, not realising how fast the time went by. I followed her to the door and held it open for her. “I’ll see you soon, huh?” She hummed in agreement, but stopped mid step as she was walking through the doorway.
“Are you going to the party at Tri Kappa on Friday?” “I am if you are.” I thought to myself and nodded at her in answer.
“And you?” I asked, trying my hardest to play it cool.
“‘Course.” She said sweetly as she smiled over her shoulder, walking away. “See you, Jimin.”
“See you.” I said, closing the door behind her.
-
Day 14
Stumbling through the crowded room I felt like throwing up. I definitely drank too much tonight. I walked towards the open door and finally stepped outside onto the open air. The loud music made my ears ring so I shook my head to get rid of the sound. Bad idea. I lost my balance and leaned on the wall beside me. When I finally looked up and scanned my surroundings all I saw was just more drunk people. People on the back porch, people in the pool, people on the lawn. Dancing, drinking, talking.
I inhaled deeply as a flowery smell filled my nostrils. Blinking excessively to make my eyes focus better I looked around for the source of the sweet scent. It didn’t take long since I knew exactly what, or rather who, I was looking for.
“(Y/N)!” I called out, looking at her bare back as she just passed by me with one of her girlfriends draped on her arm. “Hey, girl.” I said grinning as she looked over her shoulder.
When our eyes locked she reciprocated the smile, quickly whispering something to her friend before she walked off. I felt my brain fighting against the alcohol and telling me to act sober as she turned to face me and stepped closer to hug me ‘hello’.
“Hi.” She called elongating the word so it lasted throughout the entirety of your hug.
She lifted her hand off my shoulder slowly, making sure to run it down my bicep briefly. When we were no longer touching I felt intoxicated in a totally different way than I did a moment earlier. Her skin… It was just too much for me to handle in the drunken state I was in.
“Come here often?” She laughed at my stupid pick-up line and my smile grew wider as she flipped her hair over her shoulder.
“Only when you’re around.” She answered cheekily.
“Smooth.” I nodded at her quick response and had to stop myself from turning into a giggly, blushing mess when she shoved my arm jokingly. “You want something to drink?” She barely started lifting her hand in which I noticed she held a half empty cup of something when I heard my name being called.
“Jimin!” I looked over (Y/N)’s shoulder onto the crowded garden and saw my friend and frat Vice Prez Namjoon, drunk out of his mind, gesturing for me to come over. “Beer pong!” He yelled towards me. We had this unwritten rule among our frat brothers that whenever one of us called another one to play a drinking game, especially Beer Pong, the other one just had to join. He just had to. “Now!” I sighed, letting my shoulders sink as I wanted to stay and talk to (Y/N) just a little bit longer.
“I have to go.” I whined sadly. “I wish I didn’t though.” I said in a low voice, gliding my hand over (Y/N)’s waist as I walked by her. She grabbed my forearm with her soft palm and my head snapped back to her ignoring Namjoon’s voice in the background.
“I wanna play too.” She said smiling sweetly. I muttered a soft ‘okay’ and grabbed her hand to guide her through the mass of sweaty people.
“Boys vs. girls.” I stated as we got to the ping-pong table. “Fuck off.” I growled at the two strangers standing on the side of the table opposite Namjoon's.
“Who do we have here?” He asked walking up to (Y/N) and I.
“Namjoon, meet (Y/N).” I introduced her, bringing my arm around her shoulders. “Next year’s Alpha Psi’s Vice Prez.”
“Don’t jinx it.” She nudged my side teasingly.
“Nice to meet you, (Y/N).” Namjoon smiled. “You got someone to be on your team?”
“She does.” Someone said and before I knew it (Y/N) slipped from under my arm and into her friends hug. “Lisa.” The girl introduced herself briefly with a cocky smile.
“Alright, let’s get it.” I said, rubbing my hands together.
“House rules: If you don’t drink you do a dare.” Namjoon said, smirking as we took our positions on opposite ends of the table.
“Of what kind?” Lisa asked, stretching her arms in front of her.
“Winner’s choice.” He answered her, picking up the white plastic ball.
-
Day 15
(Y/N) and Lisa were surprisingly good at the game. They were knocking out our cups one by one and spitting dares left and right. When we managed to shoot our ball into one of their cups they drank it without hesitation, not even wanting to hear our stupid dares.
“Yeah!” I exclaimed as my shot made it into one of their many plastic cups.
“Dare! Dare! Dare!” Namjoon called out repeatedly and I just raised my eyebrows at (Y/N) standing with her arms across her chest on the other end of the table.
“Fine.” Lisa chuckled and Namjoon cheered drunkenly.
“I dare you to take a shot of (Y/N)’s stomach.” He blurted out and she rolled her eyes at him with a laugh.
“Get on here.” She asked her pointing to the table.
I gulped loudly as (Y/N) layed down on the wobbly table, lifting up her shirt to reveal her stomach. Lisa placed a half full shot glass over her belly button as (Y/N) put a quarter of a lime between her lips. Lisa leaned over her friend’s stomach grabbing the glass with her lips and jerked her head backwards swallowing the contents of it in one, swift go. Later she grabbed the glass with her hand and put her other palm on the back of (Y/N)’s head as she lifted herself up on her elbows, still lying on the table. As their faces inched closer Lisa bit on the lime (Y/N) was holding between her teeth as a chaser.
“That was hot.” I muttered and Namjoon hit my back with his open palm laughing.
“Our turn.” (Y/N) exclaimed, tucking her shirt back into the front of her short skirt.
“Uh, house rules.” Namjoon cut her off with an evil smile. “Winner’s get a second turn after you take the dare.”
“This isn’t even your house.” She protested, chuckling.
“Yeah, well I started the game so… My rules.” He explained himself poorly and shot his shot. “Fuck yeah!” He yelled out, making it into one of the girls’ cups once again.
“Dare.” (Y/N) said without hesitation.
-
(Y/N) stumbled down the front steps of the Tri Cappa house, chuckling to herself.
“Sorry.” She mumbled as she bumped into me. I smiled looking up at her as I was sitting on the wooden steps, trying to collect myself before walking home.
“L- leaving already?” I asked with hiccups interrupting my words. She nodded, pulling her phone out of her skirt’s pocket.
“Shit, it’s three already.” She inhaled sharply, not realising the time.
“I’ll walk you.” I said, slowly pushing myself up from the ground. She didn’t protest though her house was less than a minute away.
“You’re drunk.” She chuckled and I gave her a serious glare.
“You’re drunk.” I shot back and she chuckled again, looking at my stupid expression.
“Walk with me.” She asked, grabbing my arm and pulling me to her side.
Wishing I could be glued to her like this forever I walked with her through the front lawn of the frat house and right into her sorority’s front garden. We climbed up the front two steps onto the elevated porch and she let go of me, grabbing in the golden door handle.
“Oh.” She looked at me over her shoulder and I felt myself become sober all of a sudden. “I still have your sweatshirt.”
Before I could think twice my hands were already on the sides of (Y/N)’s neck, pulling her face towards mine, making our lips crash in a sloppy excuse of a kiss. I tried to move my mouth in sync with her’s, but couldn’t, resulting in me practically kissing her chin as she chuckled.
“What?” I breathed out, also starting to laugh as she rested her hands on my hips.
“You’re drunk.” She snickered against my lips.
“You’re drunk.” I spat back, still holding her close to me.
“Yeah, but that was so bad.” (Y/N) giggled, grabbing on the bottom hem of my shirt.
“Okay, fuck you.” I laughed stepping away.
“No, wait.” She smiled, pulling on my shirt. “Try again.” She pleaded, bringing her face close enough to mine that our lips almost touched as she spoke.
“Give me a second.” I said, cupping her face in my hands. “Close your eyes.” I asked her as she stared at me through her half lifted lids. She followed my order, still smiling. I leaned my head forward kissing her lightly.
As our lips touched again she reciprocated the kiss in a way I just imagined she would. Our tongues moved in unison, her hands travelled up my sides and to my chest. After a blissful moment of feeling her mouth on mine I could feel her smile into the kiss.
“Stop.” I breathed out against her lips before she started giggling again.
“I’m sorry.” She said, backing away slightly. “Just- just keep-” I cut her off connecting our mouths again.
-
I pulled the covers over my head as the bright sunlight made its way into my bedroom. I licked my chapped lips, still feeling the bitter taste of alcohol in my throat. I slowly lifted my heavy eyelids when it hit me.
I made out with (Y/N) last night.
Instantly I sat up in my bed, but quickly laid back down again as my stomach rose up in my chest. I reached for my phone, but couldn’t find it on my night stand.
I made out with (Y/N) yesterday.
I fell out of bed and onto the cold wooden floor with a loud thud, wrapped in bed sheets. I frantically looked through my jeans pockets and finally found my phone.
I kissed (Y/N).
As I tried to unlock the device its screen stayed black for a moment before I saw an image of an empty battery pop up. I quickly crawled to the desk in the corner of the room and connected my phone to power.
“What are you doing?” My head snapped to Namjoon. He was laying in his bed on the other side of the room, elevating himself on his elbows, staring at me with amusement.
“I made out with (Y/N) last night.” I blurted out without thinking.
“Congrats.” He said simply, prior to falling onto the mattress and drifting back to sleep.
-
(Y/N)’s P.O.V.
My eyes fluttered open slowly at the sound of my alarm clock. I felt an overwhelming pain forming in my head as the buzzing went on for a good minute. When I finally turned the thing off I was already too awake to fall back asleep. I slowly sat myself up in my bed, wrapping the covers around my cold shoulders. Entangled in the blankets I reached for my phone to scroll through social media. My phone chimed in my hand making me frown at the abrupt sound. I squinted reading the text on the screen.
11:32 [Jimin] u up?
“Huh?” I groaned. “Lisa?” I called out my best friend's name, making her turn in her bed. “Lisa, check this out.” I slowly walked from my bed to hers, plopping down lazily next to her. “Look.” I put the phone up to her face. She scanned the screen with half open lids and looked up at me with confusion.
“What do you want from me?” She asked and I sighed, remembering I haven;t yet told her what happened between Jimin and I last night.
“Jimin walked me home last night and we made out on the porch.” I spoke as I rubbed my tired eyes. “And it wasn’t like- he wasn’t like- well, it was more-” I sighed, unable to voice my feelings. “It was kind of romantic.”
“Are you sure?” She asked with her eyes closed. “Would he test ‘u up?’ if it was really romantic?” Was she right? I didn’t want her to be.
“What should I do?” I asked her. “I am ‘up’.” Lisa chuckled at my annoyed tone.
“I don’t know.” She whined, turning away. “Text him back, or don’t.”
I looked at the screen. There were no dots in the corner that would signal Jimin was about to write another message.
11:42 [(Y/N)] im up
Not more than ten seconds passed before he texted me back, the contents of the message made my stomach turn.
11:42 [Jimin] i need to talk to u
11:42 [Jimin] can u come over?
“Oh, no.” I scoffed. I was not going to walk all the way down the street just to get rejected again. The PTSD after Jungkook was still all too fresh.
11:45 [(Y/N)] cant u?
11:45 [Jimin] omw
I squealed, hiding my face in my hands.
“He’s coming over.” I muttered, feeling Lisa turn under the blankets beside me.
“What?” She asked, sounding awake all of a sudden.
“He’s coming here.” I repeated, standing up quickly. “I need to get myself together.”
“Brush your teeth!” Lisa called behind me as I ran out of the room.
-
11:59 [Jimin] come on down
I ran my hand through my hair and exhaled loudly.
“Just stay calm, dude.” I said to myself. “Stay calm.” I turned away from the front door, glancing over the garden, the sorority houses always had them look better than the frats.
My head snapped back to the door as I heard the lock turn. (Y/N) stepped outside wearing the shortest gym shorts and a t-shirt with her sorority’s name on it. I bit my lip, running my eyes from her feet to her face as she leaned on the red brick wall of the house.
“Hi.” She said sweetly and I smiled lightly hearing her voice.
“Hey.” I answered, feeling my shoulders tense up a little. “Can I come-”
“Sorry, Jimin.” She cut me off almost immediately, an apologetic look on her face. “No boys-”
“No boys allowed.” I finished her sentence smirking. “I know. Can’t blame me for trying.” I joked, but at this point she wasn’t looking at me anymore.
Her eyes were focused on something behind me. I turned to look over my shoulder when another guy passed by me.
“Hey, (Y/N).” He said opening the door.
“Hi, Hoseok.” She answered.
“Wha-” I looked between them both in utter shock.
“No boys, dude.” He said shooting me a superior stare. “Men can come in though.”
“Excuse me?” I scoffed as he chuckled, shutting the door behind himself.
“Don’t mind him.” (Y/N) sighed, putting her hand on the golden handle. “There’s an exception for boyfriends.”
“Well then we should talk inside.” I stepped closer, putting my hand on hers gripping the door handle.
“What?” She asked, her smile growing wider.
“You know what.” I leaned towards her so that our chest touched and she exhaled a small chuckle. “Stop laughing at me.” I tried to sound serious, but her attitude was infectious and I was already smiling.
“I can’t.” She snickered, covering her mouth with her free hand. “I’m sorry.”
“Goddamnit, girl.” I sighed, stepping away. I put my hands on my hips and looked at the street before turning back towards her - a giggling mess, leaning on the front wall of the house.
“Why are you here?” She finally asked me, still smiling, but no longer chuckling.
“I wanted to talk to you.” I said, stepping closer once again. “About last night.”
“What about it?” She asked, cocking her eyebrow at me.
“I liked it.” I said leaning my face closer to hers, putting my hands on either sides of her shoulders on the wall behind her.
“Mhm.” I sighed at her half-ass answer. “And?” This time I raised my eyebrow at her teasingly.
“And I wanna do it again.” I said, looking deeply into her shining eyes.
“Why don’t you?” My body reacted faster than my brain when I heard her words. Within a second our lips were connected again and I was tasting the sweet cherry taste of her chapstick.
“Wait.” She breathed out against my lips and I pulled away, only a centimeter. “I don’t- I don’t wanna be fuck buddies or anything like that. I’m not really-”
“Me neither.” I cut her off, scanning her face hungrily.
“Then what do you want?” She asked and I smiled at the sweet pleading audible in her voice.
“I wanna be exclusive.” I cupped her soft face in my hands. “With you.” My hand travelled up to her forehead where I brushed a loose piece of her hair behind her ear, watching her face carefully for any switch in emotion, but there was none. She was still smiling, looking me in the eye with the softest of gazes. I fluttered my eyelids slowly, feeling a soft blush come onto my cheeks. “I think it’d be really cute.”
“You think?” She asked, letting her eyelashes fall a little lower, making her expression change from sweet to sultry in an instant.
“Don’t dodge my questions.” I said in a jokingly warning tone, smiling a little wider. She raised her eyebrow at me, coming back to the cute teasing vibe.
“You didn’t ask a single-” I shook my head and put my thumb on her bottom lip.
“Just say ‘Yes, Jimin. I’ll be your girlfriend.” I moved my finger, making her lips open and close as I pretended she said what I wanted to hear from her so badly.
With my finger still over her now closed lips she smiled sweetly and pressed on the door handle.
“You should come in.” She said opening the door with one hand and pulling me in by the hem of my shirt. Her hands travelled to mine as she walked backwards with her eyes focused on me.
“(Y/N), no boys in-” A female voice called out as soon as I stepped through the threshold of the sorority house. I didn't even have time to look over at whoever was speaking, because (Y/N) grabbed my hand and led me up the grand staircase.
“He’s my boyfriend.” She called out casually to the other girl and I cocked my eyebrow at her teasingly.
“Am I now?” I asked, looking up at her a couple of steps higher than me.
“Shut up.” She chuckled, glancing down at me.
-
Day 17
I looked around the lecture hall I haven’t been in for ages. In search of an empty seat I scanned the room finally noticing (Y/N). She was sitting in the back, with her feet on the chair, knees up to her chest, scrolling through her phone mindlessly.
“Hey, babe.” I breathed out sitting in the empty seat beside her. She looked up at me confused, as if she was expecting for someone else, but quickly her surprised expression turned into a happy one.
“Hey.” She said sweetly, leaning over to give me a kiss. “I swear this is the first time I’ve seen you in this class.” She chuckled going back to her phone.
“Because this is my first time in this class.” I explained, unashamed about the fact.
Jungkook’s P.O.V.
I pushed open the lecture hall’s door and my eyes immediately shot up to scan through the back seats where I would usually sit with (Y/N). I quickly found her sitting in the very last row, but was unpleasantly surprised not to notice an empty seat beside her and even more than surprised when I recognised the guy sitting next to her was none other than my best friend Jimin. Did she just break our unspoken agreement of holding a seat for each other in our shared classes for him? For him? Shaking my head I walked towards the first empty seat I saw and pulled out my phone.
11:13 [Jungkook] >:(
11:15 [(Y/N)] what?
11:15 [Jungkook] figure it out
I tapped my foot nervously looking at the three moving dots in the corner of my screen. After a moment they disappeared and I sighed in annoyance. After a couple minutes of patient waiting I decided to take the matter into my own hands.
11:24 [Jungkook] ok ill tell u. u didnt save a seat for me and i had to sit in the front row
11:26 [(Y/N)] i did save u a seat. jimin just came i and took it xd
11:26 [Jungkook] shouldve chased him away
11:27 [(Y/N)] i will next time
I smiled for a moment at the small victory, but it’s sweet taste didn’t drown out the bitterness I still felt inside. I haven’t really spoken to Jimin since arguing with him at our match last week. I’ve had more than enough time to think about what both him and I said that day, but I didn’t. In actuality I decided to ignore the way I felt and with that, ignore Jimin… But now, faced with him and (Y/N) looking ‘friendly’, as he put it, sitting together in the back of the class I couldn’t push it all down anymore. Before I could stop myself my thoughts took me back to the moment I saw (Y/N) in the bleachers at last week’s game. I was so happy to see her. Why?
I shook my head, trying to stop myself from thinking it, but it seemed impossible. We’re friends. We’ve always been friends. I literally friendzoned her like two weeks ago I can’t- I don’t- I… I looked over my shoulder towards the back of the room. She was still sitting next to Jimin, showing him something on her phone. They were close, awfully close.
Turning back forward to face the professor’s presentation I tilted my head trying to find an explanation for why I was so upset by that. An explanation other than the obvious that came to my mind.
-
Day 22
(Y/N)’s P.O.V.
I skipped down the dark wooden staircase typing up a text in the groupchat I had with my best girlfriends. I walked to the heavy oak door and pulled on the goldish handle. The door made a loud creaking noise as it always did. I already told Jimin about a hundred times they should get it fixed, but he never brought the issue up with their House Manager.
“(Y/N)?” I heard someone call my name from behind me. I turned in place and my eyes were met with the familiar warmth of Jungkook’s brown irises. I smiled looking at him, standing with a clueless expression in the middle of the living room to my left.
“Hey.” I said sweetly, not letting go of the cold metallic handle.
Somehow I forgot Jungkook also lived here. I came here so often to see Jimin and never saw him here so it just… Slipped my mind.
“What are you doing here?” He asked, taking a couple of steps closer.
“Well, I was just leaving.” I pointed to the door with my phone in my hand, playing dumb. He shook his head with a slight smile and I realised my heart didn’t flutter at the sight as it used to just a couple of weeks ago.
“Yeah, but why?” He asked, stepping closer.
“Oh, Jimin.” I said with a chuckle of pretend realisation. Jungkook’s face seemed to have dropped a little as he heard my vague explanation.
“Oh.” He sighed, still looking me in the eyes.
“I haven’t seen you in a long time.” I said leaning on the half open door and he scratched the back of his neck and again… Nothing. Not even one butterfly in my stomach at the sight of his flexing bicep or his small bunny-like smile.
“Yeah, I guess.” He leaned on the door frame. The proximity in which we stood meant nothing to me at this point and I couldn’t be prouder of myself. Am I really over this boy? Wow.
“How’s the fraternity life?” I asked smiling up at him, the soft summer’s breeze came through the door ruffling his fringe a little.
“It’s… Good.” He finally answered, unconvincingly.
“I’m glad.” I said, not really wanting to hear more from him right now. “Actually, I have a question.” I took a step outside and he turned to the side to still see me while leaning on the tall door frame. “Are you going to be here tomorrow night?” I turned back towards him, flipping my hair over my shoulder. “At the party I mean.”
“I live here, so… Yeah.” He sighed. Why did he sound so goddamn tired? “Why?” He asked, putting his hands in his pockets and flexing his arms ever so slightly - a trick boys did to make their muscles seem bigger when talking to a girl. I smiled at his silly actions.
“I didn’t want to be here alone, that’s all.” I lied swiftly.
“Well, Jimin’s gonna be here as w- wait.” He squinted his eyes at me. “You’re thinking of going?”
“Yeah.” Jungkook raised his eyebrows and nodded slowly. “Don’t look so surprised.” I added with a chuckle, taking a step away from him and towards the steps down from the big front porch. “I’m a known party girl with a reputation to uphold.”
“Yeah, but not in the week prior to finals.” He said smiling at me with disbelief.
“Well, tomorrow is kind of… Mandatory for Alpha Psis.” As I finished my sentence I turned my back to the boy and skipped down the three steps from the stone porch to the paved lane.
“Who are you?” He chuckled, crossing his arms over his chest, again flexing his arms.
“Your worst nightmare from now on.” I said shooting him a serious glare over my shoulder before walking away making sure to sway my hips a little harder than usual. “See you tomorrow.”
“See you, Alpha Psi.” He called from behind my back and for the entirety of my walk down the lane connecting his frat house to the sidewalk of the street I didn’t hear him close the heavy oak door.
-
Day 23
The moment I heard Lisa’s footsteps on the wooden floor of the corridor separating our bedrooms I knew she was going to accuse me of underdressing or something of that sort.
“Really?” She said, sitting down on my bed behind me as I put my large hoop earrings on, standing by the full length mirror leaned by one of the walls of my bedroom.
I eyed her outfit in the reflection and bit my lip. She was wearing skin tight black shorts with fishnet tights underneath. Her band t-shirt was half tucked into her bottoms, revealing the thick leather belt holding them up. To top it off she wore a pair of heavy combat boots that gave her at least an extra five centimeters of height.
“Okay, help me.” I said letting my arms fall to my sides in resignation as her gaze drilled into my back mercilessly.
“It’s… Fine.” She said gesturing to my figure dressed in a tight mini skirt and spaghetti-strap crop top, both in black just like what she was wearing. “Maybe with different shoes?” She said more to herself than me as she looked at my thigh high boots. I rested my hands on my hips, looking at her warningly. She knew well that I hated it when she commented on my style. “Okay, okay. Just one thing. Just try it and if you don’t like it go as you are and I won’t say a thing.” She murmured walking to my closet. She rummaged through the boxes of shoes at the bottom of it and pulled out a bright orange one.
“Nike’s?” I asked, taking the box and sitting down at my bed.
“And these.” She tossed a pair of white Nike socks from my dresser and I chuckled. It was so her style - wearing a sexy outfit with a pair of branded sneakers of an opposite colour.
I took off my high heeled boots and slipped on the comfortable sock and sneakers. Their bright white colour contrasted well with the darkness of my outfit. I scanned the whole thing in the mirror and nodded to myself.
“Okay, you were right.” I finally said and she nodded in satisfaction. “This time.” I added wagging my finger at her jokingly.
“Girls! We’re leaving in a minute!” One of your sorority sisters called from downstairs.
Since becoming part of the greek life I rarely went to parties alone and tonight was no exception. All the Alpha Psi’s were going to show out tonight at the annual ‘finals start off’ party at the Theta Sigma Phi fraternity house - also known as Jimin and Jungkook’s house. Living in the Fraternity-Sorority Row we didn’t have to take a car to get there. We walked out of our house in an intimidating formation - close to thirty girls walking down the street, dressed to the nines with bottles of champagne and whatever other alcohol in their hands, making people take second glances as we strutted on the hard asphalt.
With Lisa holding my hand and giggling about something into my ear I walked confidently through the open oak door. As I’ve been to the house many times before I led us straight to the kitchen to get us both a glass, or better a bottle of something strong. As I was about to grab a bottle of tequila from the counter I heard my name being called through the loud music.
“(Y/N)?” I turned around and locked eyes with Jungkook. The hair he had tied in a messy bun at the top of his head yesterday was falling on the sides of his face in soft waves right now. He looked me up and down, exhaling loudly. “What happened to you?” Not getting an immediate answer he shook his head and walked up to me, opening his arms.
Shocked by the sudden hug I reciprocated the motion letting my hand travel down his back. As he pulled away he noticed Lisa by my side and with his arm still draped around my shoulder he introduced himself to her and vice versa.
“So, what happened?” He pressed, still looking at me with a mixture of confusion and satisfaction lining his eyes. From where he was standing he probably had the perfect view down my skimpy top, but I couldn’t care less. “You look fucking great.” He breathed out heavily and both Lisa and I giggled.
“As I always do.” I shot back with a smirk waving his hand off my shoulder.
“Of course.” He quickly assured me. “Honestly.” He shook his head looking at me with his doe-like eyes. “I didn’t think you’d actually show up.”
“I told you: Alpha Psi’s are coming. And since I am one…” I shrugged and smiled lightly at him. “I’m here.”
“And I’m so fucking pleased you are.” He said smiling down at me with his bunny teeth.
“Ladies.” Another voice called, this time from behind our backs. “Hey, Lisa.”
“Jimin.” She exclaimed with a bright smile and kissed the boy on the cheek as he approached her.
“(Y/N).” He said, turning towards me with nothing but adoration in his shining irises. “Beautiful as always.” I smiled at his compliment and kissed his cheek lightly as his hand glided down my waist only to stop right above my butt to rest there comfortably. “I’m happy you made it girls.” He looked at our empty hands and then at Jungkook. “Jungkook…” He hummed disapprovingly. “You haven’t offered our guests drinks?” He asked in a scolding tone before looking at Lisa and I with his eyebrow raised. “The usual?” We both confirmed and he reached to the counter beside him to make us drinks.
I couldn’t help, but realise that Jungkook stiffened standing next to me. I also couldn’t help, but let myself wonder for a moment why he did that. Was he angered by something? Uncomfortable maybe? Was it me? Was it the fact that if we hadn’t bumped into each other yesterday he wouldn’t even know I was coming? Was it because I was close with his best friend, his fraternity brother? Closer than I’ve ever been with him even though we’ve known each other for barely a couple of weeks when Jungkook and I went as far back as primary school…
“Here you go. With double shots.” Jimin said, passing us both plastic blue cups. I immediately took a sip of the bitter mixture, letting my throat burn as I swallowed the liquid.
“You girls want a tour of the place?” Jungkook asked in a cocky tone, leaning on the kitchen island with his arms across his chest, biceps flexed.
“Ah, Lisa maybe.” Jimin answered him before any of us could open our mouths. “(Y/N)’s been here tons of times.” Jungkook’s eyes travelled between Jimin and I frantically as his friend spoke. “She knows the place like her own.” He bumped my shoulder with his own shooting me a knowing grin, before wrapping his arm around my figure, pulling me close. I reciprocated the expression without hesitation, despite feeling Jungkook’s fiery gaze on me.
Jungkook’s P.O.V.
“So you’re here often?” I asked, tightening my crossed arms over my chest.
“Mhm.” (Y/N) hummed as she took another sip of her drink.
“Why?” I blurted out, not caring how rude that might have sounded.
“Why wouldn’t she be when her boyfriend lives here?” Jimin asked rhetorically and I raised my eyebrows, looking between the both of them, trying to hide my shock.
“You’re dating?” I asked, wishing that they’d just say they were joking and it was all a bad prank, but no. (Y/N) smiled lightly my way before averting her eyes to Jimin, her lips moved and so did his, but I didn’t hear them. Suddenly I noticed his hand resting on the small of her back and thought back to the moment when he asked me for her number a couple of weeks back, to the moment she got him as her project partner in Sociology, the moment when I saw her in the stands at our game. How could I be so goddamn stupid?
-
Day 24
I stumbled through the front door onto the porch of the house. I looked at the concrete lane leading to the street and suddenly felt really dizzy. Holding onto the railing I slid down the front steps and walked the front lawn. I sighed deeply before bending down and puking onto the ground. I heard someone squirm in the background, but I couldn’t care less about whoever saw me right now. All I cared about was the sweet sound of (Y/N)’s voice ringing in my head. She called my name over and over again.
“Jungkook.” I felt someone put their hand on my shoulder. I quickly straightened up, which turned out to be a huge mistake since it made my head spin ten times faster than it was before. “Woah. Hold up.” Small soft hands grabbed on both of my shoulders holding me in place. I fluttered my eyes open trying to focus my vision on the person before me.
“(Y/N)?” I asked unsure if it was really her.
“Yeah.” She said, frowning at me.
In that moment I remembered all the times we walked to our dorm together - sometimes not talking, sometimes holding each other up as we were too drunk to walk straight by ourselves, sometimes holding hands… How I missed it.
“You have someone to walk you to your dorm tonight?” She chuckled at my ridiculous question.
“Don’t worry.” She said pulling on my arm and guiding me back towards the house. “I came here with an army of girls. One of them is bound to be walking back to the house when I’ll be.” She sat me down on the steps and stood in front of me with her arms across her chest.
“I’d love to see that house of yours.” I said grinning up at her and she exhaled a small laugh.
“I bet you would.” She said with a smirk. “Don’t move okay. I’ll be right back.” She walked back inside the house before I could come up with even a word of protest.
I put my face in my hands. My forehead was sweaty. I felt disgusted with myself. Did I just puke in front of (Y/N)? When the realisation hit me it was too late to do anything about it. I wiped my face with the sleeve of my t-shirt and shivered in the night's cold wind.
“Seokjin’s coming to drag you upstairs.” I jumped up at the sound of her voice as she stepped in front of me again. I opened my mouth to apologise for my behaviour, but nothing of that sort ended up coming out of it.
“You and Jimin… Are dating.” I muttered, looking up at her through my half open eyes. (Y/N) just hummed in agreement to my statement, which made me even more aggravated. “You come here often to see him and never to see me.” She just stood there with her arms over her chest, looking at me with her beautiful eyes. “Beautiful, shiny eyes.” I tried to stand up, but she pushed me down by my shoulder and since I couldn’t really hold my balance well I fell back down onto the steps. I blinked repeatedly to focus my eyes on her. “Say something.”
“Like what?” She asked immediately with a pretectional smile. “You’re really drunk, Jungkook.”
“Not that.” I groaned, resting my head on the railing next to me. “Say- I don’t know.” I sighed, feeling close to puking again. “Uh, I can’t hate you.” (Y/N) frowned at the sound of that word.
“Why would you?” She asked, tightening her arms around herself. I looked up into her eyes and knew that though I was drunk beyond understanding this was the right moment to tell her everything.
“Hey, big guy.” I felt a pat on my back and leaned forward at the impact. “Let’s get you to bed.” Jin pulled me up and put my arm over his shoulder. Feeling my stomach rise to my throat I thought it was the safest option to keep my mouth shut and concentrate on moving my legs in unison with his. I glanced towards (Y/N) one more time before Jin dragged me back inside the house. She looked disappointed.
-
Day 26
(Y/N)’s P.O.V.
“I’m telling you he’s pissed.” Jimin whispered in a conspiratorial tone.
We were sitting together in the back of the lecture hall, waiting for the professor to call our names and read out our grades for the project, pretending we’re listening to his words of praise or disapproval as he was grading other students before us when in fact we were both focused on Jungkook, who was sitting a couple of rows ahead of us. Unfortunately we couldn’t read much out of his back and broad shoulders.
“He was pissed when I said we’re friends, now he’s pissed we’re more.” Jimin added, shifting closer to me in his seat.
“No way.” I whispered back, sure of my words.
“(Y/N), I’m not kidding.” We looked at each other and I realised how serious he felt about the matter. “He hasn’t spoken to me since that one game you came to.”
“He’s got some fucked up siblings syndrome, that’s all.” I brushed him off unconvincingly. Jimin shook his head, shifting his gaze back to the back of his best friend’s head.
“I think it’s more.” He bit his lip.
“What do you mean?” I asked, scrunching my brows.
“I think he’s jealous.” He explained and I barely stopped myself from scoffing out a chuckle.
“Of what?” Jimin looked at me with one of his eyebrows raised, as if he was challenging me to guess the answer.
“You.” He finally breathed out.
“No.” I shot him down immediately. “He’s the one that friendzoned me, remember?” I added, cringing at the memory of going through that rejection and then telling Jimin all about it when we started dating. “Why would he be-”
“Maybe he changed his mind.” He interrupted me before I could finish my sentence and I shook my head in disbelief.
“Don’t think so.” Jimin sighed at my answer. It seemed there was no way to convince him he wasn’t right. “And even if he did it’s a little too late for that.” I added, shoving his shoulder with mine jokingly before planting a sweet kiss on his cheek.
“It’s still weird.” He said after a moment. “I want my best friend back, but he’s acting like a total asshole.” I sighed, knowing how hard it must be for him.
“I know.” I rubbed his hand as I held it in mine. “If there was anything-”
“Actually, there is.” He cut me off though I haven’t finished my declaration of help yet. “You could, you know, ask him.”
“Ask him what? If he likes me?” I looked at him with a bit of aversion.
“Yeah.” His voice sounded so timid all of a sudden I didn’t know what to say to him.
For the next ten minutes Jimin and I worked on drafting the perfect message to send to Jungkook, but ended up typing up the shortest of the ones we thought of. Long paragraphs weren’t really our thing anyway.
11:35 [(Y/N)] are u mad at jimin?
11:35 [Jungkook] no
11:35 [(Y/N)] he thinks ur mad at him and it makes him sad
Jimin shoved my shoulder as I sent the message before consulting him.
“You are though.” I said, rubbing his leg comfortingly and he just sighed.
11:35 [Jungkook] im not
11:35 [(Y/N)] then why are u avoiding him
11:36 [Jungkook] im not
11:36 [(Y/N)] u are
11:36 [Jungkook] no
11:36 [(Y/N)] Jungkook come on
11:36 [(Y/N)] are u mad at me then?
11:37 [Jungkook] no
11:37 [(Y/N)] then what the fuck is up with u?
11:37 [Jungkook] nothing
11:37 [(Y/N)] bull
11:37 [(Y/N)] talk to me
11:37 [(Y/N)] now
11:38 [Jungkook] can u see me after class?
11:38 [(Y/N)] yes
11:38 [Jungkook] without Jimin
11:38 [(Y/N)] okay
“Why’d you say that?” Jimin hissed into my ear.
“Because.” I locked my phone so he couldn’t read my text over my shoulder anymore. “He’s clearly not feeling confident about himself right now. I’ll just talk to him for a minute and that’s it.” Jimin bit his lip. He looked concerned. “Don’t worry. You’ll have your friend back in no time.”
“It’s not that.” He shook his head and grabbed my hand in his. “I’m worried he might actually like you and-”
“And then what?” I asked, also beginning to feel a little nervous right now. “It’ll be awkward for a while and then it will all go back to normal.” I squeezed his hand and took my other one to cup his chin, bringing his gaze up to meet mine. “I swear.”
Jimin and I walked out of the lecture hall with almost a hundred percent for our project. I gave him a quick kiss before he left to go to his next class and I went on to talk to Jungkook. The other boy, though along with his project partner he got the best grade in our year, walked out the lecture hall’s door with his head down and shoulders sunk by the weight of his backpack.
“You okay?” I asked as he walked up to me with a more than tired expression. Instead of saying something he just shrugged. I brought my eyebrows into a slight frown looking at him. Who was he? Not the Jungkook I fell for months ago, that’s for sure. “So? Tell me. What’s up?” I pressed him as we stood in the, now empty, hallway. Jungkook sighed deeply before opening his mouth.
“Can we walk?” He asked weakly and I nodded.
We walked outside of the building and slowly made our way through the campus grounds. I let us spend around two or three minutes in silence before I spoke again.
“So?” I started vaguely.
Jungkook’s P.O.V.
When we were texting during class I felt ready, but now faced with the situation telling (Y/N) how I felt seemed like an impossible task.
“So?” She asked again as we walked through the campus.
I looked up into the sky breathing in and exhaled slowly as I brought my gaze back to the ground. This wasn’t the time.
“I’m just stressed.” She scoffed at my words, clearly not buying them.
“Yeah, and?” She pressed, looking done as she walked next to me.
She was doing it for Jimin, not for me. She had plenty of other friends, she didn’t need me. He must have asked her to talk to me, make me come to my senses and stop being so overprotective, so possesive, so… Jealous.
“This isn’t easy for me.” I said truthfully and this time it was her that exhaled a heavy sigh instead of me.
“I know.” She was looking ahead and not at me. “It’s hard for Jimin too, you know? He really misses you.” I swallowed loudly thinking of my best friend. He wasn’t the one at fault, it was all on me. I was the one that realised his feelings all too late.
“I know.” I muttered, looking down at my shoes.
“Then what is it?” (Y/N) asked, the concern audible and sincere in her soft voice. “Why are you not talking to him?” She pressed. “He says you leave the room when he walks in and refuse to go to parties when you know he’s coming. He’s really hurt.” Hearing her say it made me feel like a real dick.
“I know.” I whined. “I’m sorry. I-”
“I’m not the one you should be apologising to.” She was right, but it was so hard to look at Jimin right now. I hated him, even though I knew well that I shouldn’t.
“I know.” I admitted tiredly.
“Good.” She said sternly and glanced my way, her expression softening once again. “But really, Jungkook.” She stopped and sighed as I looked at her running her hand through her hair carelessly.
“Hm?” I hummed, wanting her to continue.
“Why did you stop talking to him?” She asked and looked me in the eye. I swallowed slowly, knowing how hard it’ll be to lie to her right now. All she wanted was for me to get along with my best friend again, my frat bro, her boyfriend… “What happened?”
“I-” I took a deep breath and then my tongue started moving before I even had time to come up with the words in my head. “It’s just we weren’t doing well in the playoffs and you know how I am about football.” I glanced at her nervously, she wasn’t too convinced yet. “And then he was busy hanging out with you and I blamed you for him not being in perfect shape when in fact it wasn’t just his fault, ‘cause like I wasn’t in that great of a state either, physically and mentally.” Shooting her another look now I was sure she believed me. Her eyebrows were knotted in concern, her mouth curved into a slight frown. “And finally getting into Theta Sigma Phi and moving there was also such a hassle. Don’t get me wrong I was really fucking happy, but also just so tired after all the hazing and everything and then I found out you two were going out.” I made a dramatic pause to take a deep breath. “It was weird. Two of my friends…” I swallowed my pride and feelings prior to saying the next sentence that came out of my mouth. “He’s like a bother to me and like literally my frat brother right now and you’re like a- like a sister and it was all just… A bit much, I guess.” I was impressed at my own ability to come up with such an elaborate and believable lie so quickly.
“I’m sorry you felt so overwhelmed.” Right as I heard the heartfelt hurt and sorrow in (Y/N)’s tone as she spoke I felt like the world’s biggest asshole, but what else could I do? Confess? I couldn’t do that to my best friend. “And that both Jimin and I had part in making you feel that way.” She looked up at me with a half smile that I quickly reciprocated. I wanted to tell her it’s fine and she shouldn’t worry, but my stomach was in knots and my tongue tied. “I really hope you two can work this out rather quickly. He wants his best bro back and I want to see him happy.” Of course she does. He’s her boyfriend. She’s doing this for him. “You too for that matter.” My eyes shot up to her and I smiled again, this time sincerely.
-
Day 31
After the official announcement of the winning team and all the hand shaking and picture taking I walked off the field with the rest of the team, still smiling widely. It was the last game of the summer season and we won. I couldn’t be happier. Hoseok, our team captain, announced we’re going to a celebratory party at one of the frat houses in our university’s Row. I shrugged not recognising the name of the frat and went into the showers, tired after the long game, but still full of joy. After I got myself cleaned up I collected my things and along with the rest of the team walked out of the locker room. As the first guys made their way out I heard whistles and howling sounds.
“Get a room!” Hoseok called teasingly.
As I looked above his shoulder with a cheeky grin ready to comment on whatever was going on in the corridor I felt my spirit shrink inside my chest.
“Piss off!” Jimin yelled back to our captain with a satisfied grin, wrapping his arms around embarrassed (Y/N). “Don’t listen to them, babe. They’re just jealous.” He chuckled, brushing her hair out of her face and he couldn’t be more right…
As we walked by I glanced at them quickly one more time, an act I regretted almost instantly. I saw (Y/N) cupping Jimin’s smiling face in her hands and bringing him towards her to share a kiss. I bit down hard on my lip and turned away. I was on good terms with Jimin again and I didn’t want to fuck that up. Not just because he was my best friend, but also, because I didn’t want to upset her, (Y/N). My unfortunate crush.
When will I get over you and forget the sweet feeling of your lips on mine? The lips that were now Jimin’s to kiss, the lips that I kissed once and pushed away. How could I be so stupid?

HEY BAE OK CAN I GET AN AESTHETIC MATCHUP??? FOR MHA??? IDK HOW TO DESCRIBE MY VIBES BUT IDK I THINK YOU KNOW ME P WELL AND YOU’VE SEEN ME BUT I’LL TELL YOU SOME STUFF: love love love piercings and tattoos! My closet (aside from work clothes) consists of mostly black, brown, gray, white, orange, and red and i like being scary goth sexy awooga😏😏 for music I LOVEEE midwest emo and pop punk but i’m also a total sucker for like indie folk and just vibey flowey music? idk how to describe it but it’s! so! good! my favorite animals are cows and i’m suPer into windmills. i think peak relationship/friendship is bullying the fuck out of each other like straight up cruelty but loving the absolute shit out of each other <3 i like to tease my friends and in person i’m pretty quiet and sarcastic (i’ve heard i’m rude and intimidating if u don’t know me :|) but i am also sweet asf. ok i know this isn’t a vibe matchup but i feel the need to clarify i can be super loud and energetic w my friends but i’m a big mf introvert and people always tell me i have a scowl on my face😐😐 i get asked what’s wrong so often for no reason pls i’m just trying to exist — i’m trying to think of more aesthetics uhhh. i’ll just list specific niche things.“under eye bags and dark circles, calling someone a dumbass with adoration, cigarettes in the dark, cold pavement on your feet early morning, walking in a forest at night, dim lighting and smoky rooms, a laugh filled kiss in secret, music playing in headphones way too loud, impulsive piercings, pushing your s/o around in a shopping cart, laughing too loud, playing with lighters, hair in bubble pigtails or double braids, hiding from the cops” ‼️‼️‼️
RAMSEY MY BELOVED!! When I tell you I was so incredibly excited to write your matchup I hope you take that at its full value because oh my gosh my brain exploded with all the possibilities here. There’s a couple options I think that could have suited you (because your vibe is incredibly chill and fun so it meshes well with a lot of characters), but in the end I without a doubt had to match you up with...
I swear that this shit is not even pandering because I know you’ve got a soft spot for this man — he is the ideal person for you. And in the slim,, almost nonexistent chance that you don’t want this reliable, lovable, dorky dumbass by your side, I will personally step in to take your place because good heavens is he just incredible.
Denki is loud and energetic most of the time, although he does have his share of mellow and sometimes more serious moments. He absolutely adores being around other people, and that sociable attitude is only emphasized when he’s around his closest friends. If you have a bit of trouble meshing with a group or a specific conversation, Denki will notice pretty damn quick and do whatever he can to make you feel comfortable and/or involved.
And if it’s lovable insults you want, he can and will provide. My man is friends with Bakugo Katsuki and the iconic Kyouka Jiro, so he knows how to take a roast and then jab right back if he so pleases. He’ll call you a dumbass in so many subtle ways that it would almost be hurtful if you both didn’t love each other to pieces (which you do), and the fact that you retort with an even sharper tongue makes him incredibly happy. Oh, and if he ever thinks he’s overstepped a line regarding your comfort zone, he won’t hesitate to apologize sincerely.
Denki is canonically a HUGE music fan. That space in his head that was supposed to be for academic knowledge instead harbors extensive information on pop culture and entertainment, and he loves sharing new things with you. Punk? Rock? Indie? He’ll have a taste of it all in his multiple playlists on Spotify Premium. Man turns up his headphone volume so loud that you’re confused as to how he isn’t deaf yet. If you’re having a rough day, he puts those big chunky (noise blocking!) ones over your ears and kisses the top of your head, tossing you his phone and letting you pick any song of preference.
Y’all have mandatory vibe parties in his dorm room every week. They can last as long as five hours without breaks. FIVE FUCKING HOURS. There’s snacks, you help pick out the songs in the queue, and someone nearly breaks an ankle during a transition from Mom Jeans’ “Edward 40hands” into The Oh Hellos’ “Bitter Water” but it’s all good in the end. He’s definitely a hype man too, so expect to dissolve into fits of laughter at his energized attempts to cheer you on.
Oh, he can also play electric guitar, so do with that information what you will. Just kidding, I’ll help boost your imagination a little bit: him teaching you the chords to a song you love while sitting in between his legs on the common room couch. With his fingers just barely grazing over your own as he guides you through. Send tweet.
I just know he doesn’t have a stable sleep schedule, so prep your night owl ass for some late night dorm sneak-in shenanigans and a few deep conversations to follow it. Do you both sometimes fall asleep on the floor of each other’s rooms at 3 am? Yeah...sometimes y’all share three brain cells combined, but it simply adds to your charm.
You make runs off campus together all the time, too! It’s a known fact around the Class 1-A dorm that you both love volunteering for monthly grocery shopping, but everyone finds it hard to trust the sound decision-making of you dorks after the incident — otherwise known as you and Denki spending a good fraction of the school-provided food funds on multiple random snack brands. ‘It was a one time thing,’ you insist, and since no one else wants to go on the grocery store trek they’re inclined to believe it. Some classmates were more excited about that particular event than others (although Kaminari swears on his vintage record collection that he saw Iida indulge himself on a pack of Pretz), so it’s become a regular thing for students to include a couple snack requests on their shopping list.
To sum it up, Denki makes sure that every day is never completely boring, and his primary payment comes in the occasional glimpse of your smile — and maybe a little kissy if that’s okay (yes, he literally says kissy 😘, istg punch him in the stomach or something he’s so fucking dumb). He’s charming in a stupid, dorky way, but so sincere where it counts that you can’t help but love him at all times. He’d love your ass so much and I just know it in my bones that he’d take care of you, throughout all of the stupid shit you experience together.

So for some context, this is my personal AU version of William where I do most of my self projection and when I say I kin William, I’m mostly referring to this version as well as canon will. Please respect these headcanons as they mean a lot to me. If you’d like to ask Mod Trap about their Will, please feel free to send in another ask directed at them!!
TWs tagged, tell me if I’ve missed any!!
Willa Afton (William)
- Willa is genderfluid, (biologically a woman) and usually presents as a woman. Her dead name is Joanne.
- Has 5 names. William for when they are presenting as male and Willa for when they're presenting as female. When they go androgynous however, they just go by W. Sometimes, they like to present as a mixture of feminine and androgynous and so that’s when they go by Fluer (flower in French) and when they want to present as masc and androgynous, they go by Bat (like, a baseball bat.)
- She only started working with Henry on Freddy's because he promised her free pizza and arcade tokens on the weekend
- She made Springbonnie genderfluid with Henry's permission to feel more valid whilst at work but most people just assumed the golden rabbit was a woman because of the eyelashes which really upset her, but she carried on with keeping SB genderfluid
- Absolutely ADORES the colours purple and yellow. She loves how they contrast each other and just aoeufneoinfae she vibes strongly with them-
- Has wanted to throw up at work before because a really young kid tried to shove a slice of strawberry cake down her mask because 'bunnie deserves some cake too!111!!1!!1!'
- After that, she immediately ran to Henry still in costume, still covered in cake and dripping with frosting and begged him to have a talk with the parents
- Her relationship with Henry is pretty special. They grew up as neighbours and went to the same school. They would intentionally try and alter their marks as to be in the same classes as each other when they were young and continued to do that all through high school. They eventually graduated and went to uni together and then Henry came up with the idea for Freddy's and convinced her to join him in making it become a reality before Willa could run away to France and become a baker.
- For their final year of high school with their friend Dave Miller, they ended up doing the very first spring lock suit prototype after inventing the technology for it round about 1978 if I remember correctly
- At age 8, Willa went into a church and in rebellion against her ab//s//ve and high religious parents, she took an Ouija board and summoned a demon, it actually ending up haunting her
- Her only motive for killing the kids apart from being haunted by a demon is... kinda sad. While in her first few months of working at Freddy's she fell in love with a waiter and the two hit it off right away. The two of them were going to get married and have kids but she found out that she had Primary Ovarian insufficiency (POI) which made it so that her ovaries stopped working and she didn't have enough money at the time to get the treatment she needed and so, he left her. She was so upset from this that she steadily gained the mindset of 'if I can't have my happily ever after, no one can’ so she killed her ex and then when the new Freddy's location opened after Fredear's and she got the job as a security guard, she ended up killing kids as a form of stress relief-
Thank you for your interest, diabolical anon!!

WANTED CONNECTIONS .... hi here is a list of connections i would really really want for my gremlins. inspo from all places ; music, movies, pins, etc. i’ll post this in the server / put it linked in my pinned post but for best results send me a dm on d/scord bc i suck at things! thank.
AVIVA ROUX . podcaster / content creator ( meg t. stallion ) !
GIRL GANG ! not necessarily ‘girls’ but yk what i mean. very close knit, always hanging out, never one w/o the other, etc. i like the idea of them all bein’ kind of different ---- breakfast club style? ( aviva cld be the *jughead vc* i’m a weirdo for example ). idk i think it’d be neat n interesting cld even have group chat edits n things on the dash frankly i wld just like for her to have some friends! inspo ( one , two ) .
PODCAST PARTNER ! the shane to her ryan, so to speak. the show talks about mysteries and internet oddities and different spooky things ( they borderline on true crime, but they don’t necessarily go into detail about cases if that makes sense ) . i think the dynamic of a outrageous thinker to her pessimistic ideals. inspo ( one , two , three , this tag ) .
YOUNGER SIBLING ! i like to imagine they’re pretty close, maybe close in age? i don’t rlly have much to say about this one, should probably put it on the main, but i love sibling connects so !
HATEHSHIP ! someone she jus can’t stand yet can’t stay away from. maybe they’re an asshole but damn cute, or another reason. inspo ( one ) .
ROOMMATES ! like to imagine it’s a bunch of them living friends-style, either in the same apartment or even building ( or wld that be jersey shore style. idk ) but it cld be fun especially if they don’t get along all that well but the rent is nice and they make it work.
FIRST CRUSH ! eeeeeeeeeeeee they cld’ve met when they were children and had one of those one day long things in elementary school where they broke up bc they didn’t share crayons or something JSDVKJDFVKJV they could’ve remained friends, been neighbors, had crushes or a fling in high school .
EX SQUAD ! i like the idea of aviva having a solid friend group in high school that all aren’t good terms with each other for whatever reason .. don’t have to figure it out asap i just love the tension thts all.
BEST FRIEND / RIDE OR DIE ! someone who has her back and vice versa. supports each other thru thick and thin, gives each other the whack on the head they need every once in a while. inspo ( one, two ) .
FLING / FWB / HOOK UPS ! kind of self explanatory. aviva doesn’t really have a preference, if she’s attracted to u she’s attracted to you, has her fun but s*x isn’t really her idea of a fun thing to do 24 / 7 . like to imagine she mostly goes for women ( hey ladies .... ) !
EX PARTNER ! i like the idea of them being super cute n lovey dovey in hs but then maybe one of them went off to college? they had a falling out? ended on not so great terms? the possibilities are endless to be frank!
RIVAL / ENEMY / SOMEONE SHE JUST CAN’T STAND ! ig this could be more chemsitry based but they just avidly dislike each other for one reason or another? can’t stand each other? petty tweets / subtweets etc etc . could be fun n juicy.
FRIENDS ! self explanatory.
DAWSON ELLIS . unemployed / formal journalist ( chris pine ) !
FRIENDS ! self explanatory. he’s 40, so rlly he just kinda vibing.
RIVALS / ENEMIES ! i like the idea of just hating each other since high school and just have this burning hatred for each other even after all this time … chuckles. inspo ( one ) .
PEOPLE HE TAKES UNDER HIS WING ! idk what this could entail maybe he jus likes one of u youngins … doesn’t want to see u in the same path he went down, tries to steer u straight a little bit. stuff like that. very dad like as if he has a maternal bone in his body.
EX FIANCE ! heheh .. i plan on making this a wc possibly, but i like the idea of someone who he dated for a long period of time after he graduated and left irving, eventually who he proposed two. maybe his addiction could have caused a strain, maybe it was because he was traveling so much, or some other reason but then they broke it off. they came back to irving for one reason or another, he came back bc he’s sober now, there’s tension. kind of based on exile by taylor swift + bon iver .
EMPLOYER ! this man needs a job. so ........ hands on hips who is hiring.
FRIENDS FROM HIGH SCHOOL ! if anyone grew up in irving / or was in hs around the time he was, it could be quite fun to reconnect. old friends yadda yadda yadda.
SOMEONE WHO KNOWS HIM ONLY FROM HIS SISTER ! smiles at jean so wide ..... yes dawson is leonora’s annoying lil brother. he’s very elusive ( or so he thinks … ) so . we cld do something with that perhaps.
ELIJAH PALERMO . little league coach / student ( lukas gage ) !
THE LAST PALERMO SIBLING ! yes … this is on the main but i imagine elijah and them to be very close and it’d be fun! sorry for the grey hairs though.
BEST FRIEND ! this is someone elijah trusts more than jus abt anybody .. including his siblings maybe. they’re always together, never apart, besties forever. causing chaos and mayhem. probably co-parent georgia. knows each others fast food orders, encouraging their bad behaviors …
EXES ! i like to imagine elijah is the type to rush into a relationship then have it all turn to shit. could be on good terms, bad term, neutral.
EX FRIENDS ! along the same vein, maybe they had a falling out? one of them just didn’t want to be friends anymore? they just stopped talking? give me angst thank u.
FRIENDS ! hes so talkative and annoying please give him more friends … my personal favorites are old couple bickering / complete opposites / good or bad influences / new age “thembo summit” where there’s no got damn thought in anyones head just vibes.
FLIRTATIONSHIP ! they flirt … they give each other eyes. and yet? nothing. wtf.
HOOK UPS / FWBS ! they’re hot. and he has eyes. it’s basic math.
RIVAL / ENEMY ! i like to imagine elijah didn’t mean to be rude / or did something bad to this person but he did, even accidentally, but now they hate him. or even mutual hatred <3 constant subtweets n petty comments in public …
PARTY BUDDIES ! theyre always together at parties … self explanatory.
PARENT OF KIDS HE COACHES ! self-explanatory.
CLASSMATES ! must go to community college, but otherwise self-explanatory.
WILL THEY / WON’T THEY ! i love this kinda shit .. theyre constantly acting like a couple but also aren’t one. everyone is dying to know like …... so isn’t eli <3
HATEHSHIP ! they hate each other . but also f*ck. then hate each other again.

Look How We’ve Grown
Summary: You never forget your first crush.
A/N: Yeah, I ended up writing it.
Word Count: 1.3k
And away, and away, we go!
__
“Excuse me,” a woman’s voice called from beside the man.
“Oh, sorry,” he said, stepping out of her way so she could get past him to reach for one of the boxes of cereal on the shelf.
“Michael?” the woman said again, halting her movements to carefully study the man in front of her.
“Sophia?” he responded, taking a good look at the woman.
“Holy shit, it is you,” she breathed. “Geez, it’s been… wow…”
He gave a short chuckle as he passed a hand through his hair. “Fifteen years?”
“Give or take,” she told him with a nod, a dazed smile on her face. “Wow… how’ve you been?”
“Good, good. You?”
“Good,” she smiled, shaking her head. “Sorry, I just… this is crazy.”
“You’re telling me,” Michael laughed. “When did you move to LA?”
Sophia counted on her fingers as she thought. “Like 2, 3 years ago. My job relocated me.”
“Oh, shit. That’s awesome. Hey, um… would it be totally crazy if I asked you to dinner, or something? So we could catch up?”
“That sounds great. Do you still like pizza?”
“I love pizza.”
“Cool, there’s this place off of Santa Monica Blvd. De Santos?”
“Oh, I love them! Tomorrow at 7?”
“See you then.” Sophia started to move away to finish her shopping but stopped before she got to the end of the aisle. “Hey, Mike?”
“Yeah?”
“Really good to see you.”
“Really good to see you too, Soph.”
~~~
“So which colors do you think we’ll have the most of?” Sophia asked, her mouth watering at the sight of the snack-sized bag of M&M’s sitting in the middle of the desk between her and Michael.
“Blue,” Michael responded.
“Blue,” Sophia repeated slowly as she wrote his answer down on their science sheet. “We have to say why.”
“Because there’s more blue dye?” he guessed with a shrug.
“That’s silly!” she laughed.
“Well every time I eat M&M’s there’s always more blue ones,” Michael continued to defend his answer. “Plus,” he went on to add, tapping at the worksheet. “It says ‘hypothesis.’ We can be wrong.”
“Fine,” she huffed, her pencil scratching their answer onto the paper. “We think there will be more blue colored M&M’s because blue dye is more popular,” she spoke aloud as she wrote, both as a way for Michael to know what she was writing, and for him to approve or offer suggestions.
“Perfect. Now what?”
“Now we open it, and count how many there are total. And how many there are of each color.”
Michael tore open the package, carefully spilling the candy out on their desk. They raced each other to count them all. “13!” they both shouted at each other in victory.
“2 green,” he told her, already separating them by color. He prattled off the other numbers as she recorded them. “1 yellow. 1 orange. 2 red. 3 blue! And… 4 brown. Dang!” He slumped against his seat, crossing his arms.
“It was a good guess,” she told him, trying to make him feel better. “You were almost right. And we’re allowed to be wrong,” she reminded him.
“I guess,” he shrugged, but sat up a bit straighter in his chair. “So now what? Do we get to eat them?”
Her eyes scanned down the page, her finger trailing down it. “We have to explain if our hypothesis was right or not. But I have the numbers down, so yeah.”
“Okay,” he said, setting the dividing up the M&M’s. “Do you want yellow or orange?”
“Yellow, please,” she replied, as she filled in their last answer. “Our hypothesis was incorrect because there were more brown M&M’s than blue ones. Done!”
“These ones are yours,” he said, moving a small pile of the candy over to her side.
“But I have 7…”
“Yeah. I was wrong, so you can have the extra.”
She smiled briefly at him before an idea struck. She carefully bit into the blue M&M, tearing half off into her mouth, the other half still safe between her thumb and index finger. “Here!” she laughed, handing him the uneaten portion. “We can each have half.”
“Ew, it was in your mouth!” he giggled, taking it anyway.
“Well, I’ll take it back,” she said, holding out her hand.
“No way!” he continued to giggle as he popped the piece in his mouth.
~~~
“I can’t believe you remember that,” Sophia marveled at the man. She gave a toss of her head as she took a sip of her beer.
“How could I forget? You were my best friend all through primary school.”
“Yeah, and then you got buddy buddy with Calum Hood, and the rest, as they say, is history.”
“Aw, c’mon,” Michael laughed. “I thought you liked Cal.”
“Oh, yeah. Cal’s great. So is Luke, so I’m glad you finally stopped hating on him.”
“Oh, I still hate Luke.”
Their laughs rang out. “Nah, I’m really glad you became friends with them. It worked out great for you.”
“The way you say that makes it seem like I just up, and ditched you for the guys. That’s not what happened. Was it?” His question held a trace of fear, like his version of their past being carefree and innocent was a lie compared to her memory.
“No, no,” she assured him. “I mean, I played my part in it, too. One year we were running around the schoolyard, swimming at each other’s houses, inviting each other to our birthday parties, trading Halloween candy, and being each other’s Valentines. And then the next we weren’t.”
“Yeah,” Michael reflected sadly. “I still can’t believe you were the only girl in our year who’s mum let you invite boys to your birthday.”
“Just you,” she confessed. “You were the only boy I ever invited.”
“Shit, really?! Damn… way to make a guy feel special, am I right?”
“I tried,” Sophia laughed.
“You succeed. Not many girls get to say they were my friend before all of this.”
“I imagine not many girls get to say they were in love with Michael Clifford pre-fame either, but they’re both titles I wear with honor.”
Michael choked on his sip of beer, some of it dribbling down into his beard scruff. He set the glass down, the liquid sloshing wildly. “W-what?”
Sophia’s cheeks burned. “Oh, you had to know.”
“I- I mean I had my guesses, but I never thought if it was true or not. Never really believed it. I mean, I was just some goofy ass kid.”
“A goofy ass kid who held my hair back when I threw up in a trash can in Year 1. A goofy ass kid who didn’t run away scared with all the other boys once cooties became a thing. A goofy ass kid who gave me a necklace for my eleventh birthday that I still have somewhere.”
“Okay, my mum gave you the necklace. My name was just on the card.”
Sophia chuckled softly. “Point is, Michael Clifford, you may have been a goofy ass kid, but that’s exactly why I loved you. And I was never much for believing in regretting things, but if I have one regret it’s that I didn’t tell you back then when it would have mattered.”
“Who says that telling me now doesn’t matter?”
She laughed in disbelief. “Because why would it? It was a primary school crush. And, I mean, I’m glad it was you, and not someone who grew up to be a douche. But c’mon, Michael.”
“Because if you had told me back then, I would have been the goofy ass kid who’s cheeks turned red as he ran away and laughed about it with his friends. Because you told me now when I’m grown up enough to do this.” He leaned towards her, his palms flat on the table as his head lowered to kiss her. Her own hands landed on top of his as she moved to meet him halfway, sighing in content as their lips connected. “If your one regret wasn’t telling me back, then mine’s not doing this back then,” he admitted as they pulled back, eyes shining and lips tingling.
“Who says they have to stay regrets?” she asked, hooking a finger under his chin and pulling him back in for a second kiss.

A/N -This is purely fluff. Really, the rest of the series is going to be purely fluff because I personally cannot handle much angst. I also accidentally posted this to my main at first... woops.
Thanksgiving passes well. Your parents texted you when they landed safely back home, and once again said how much they adored Aaron, saying that you picked well and that they were excited for Aaron and Theodosia to come to Christmas to meet the rest of the family. It warmed your heart. Work picked up for you again in December with all the tourists coming to NYC, but it was to be expected as it does every year. Even with the uptick though, you and Nathaniel still met up as planned, this time carving out an entire afternoon to meet up with him.
“I think I’m ready to meet Charlotte”, is what he blurts out when you first sit down at the coffee shop. You were grateful you had set down the mug of hot chocolate before he said anything as it would have slipped out in shock. The shock reflected on your face but Nathaniel continued.
“I would like to be a part of her life. I’m not asking for custody or anything, and I’ll sign anything you would like me to, but I want to meet her.” He could sense your hesitance, but Nathaniel tries to be as reassuring as he can. “I know this is a weird situation, but she’s my kid and I would like to meet her.” It’s hard to dismiss the sincerity in his eyes, so you sigh.
“Let me talk to her, okay? I’ll ask Aaron what he thinks about the paperwork, too. Thanks for the offer about that, by the way.” Nathaniel nods, clearly relieved that you’re thinking about this rather than completely shutting him down. The rest of the day was fairly uneventful as you thought about how to bring this up to Aaron and Charlotte.
You don’t give yourself a chance to talk your way out of bringing Aaron in the loop. Leaving your meeting with Nathaniel, you immediately head towards Washington and Sons, planning on catching Aaron as he gets ready to leave to get Theodosia. You shot him a text as you travelled the couple of blocks to his office and by the time you arrive, tea in hand for your boyfriend, his face is tinged pink because of the cold wind.
“Thank you, my love,” He says, greeting you and accepting his drink from you. He leans down and kisses your cheek, warming you up inside.
“Anytime,” is how you reply. He reaches out a gloved hand to intertwine his fingers with yours and you begin to walk towards the school to reach your daughters.
“Hey Aaron?”
“Yes, Y/N?”
“Remember how I met with Nathaniel again today?” The only way you could tell that your boyfriend was uneasy about this conversation was the slight pressure change in his grip of your palm, but otherwise he was indifferent when he answered with a nod. “Well,” you continue, “He’s decided he wants to meet Charlotte, which of course I’m going to ask her first, but he mentioned that he’s not trying to get custody or anything and would be willing to sign papers that say that, so I guess I’m asking what you as a lawyer think I should do.” Aaron takes a moment to think about how to respond.
“Honestly,” he begins, slightly unsure tone in his voice as his thoughts reason out his words, “I don’t think you should make him sign anything right away. Give him a meeting or two with her if she agrees, and then meet up with him again and discuss your options.” You nod, mulling over his words, his legal advice. He adds, “Family law isn’t my expertise, but my gut feeling as a father says to wait a little bit before bringing in the lawyer.”
“Okay,” you voice. “That’s what I’ll do then.” You turn to face him, squeeze his hand a little and say, “I appreciate your advice.”
“Anytime, Y/N.”
The two of you arrive hand in hand at the school. Cara, the secretary, as well as the teachers have become accustomed to the two of you together. In fact, a couple teachers have come up to you directly to comment that they thought you worked well as a couple. Everytime ended up with a flushed face and a sincere “thank you”, because honestly, you and Aaron thought you worked pretty well together, too. Charlotte and Theodosia were waiting together, both bundled up in coats and gloves, happily chatting away with each other. It really does warm your heart to think about how far the two have come. When the girls see you, they both wave at their teacher and start running towards you, slowing down just in time to embrace your legs without knocking anyone over.
“Can we have a movie night tonight?” They both ask at the same time, clearly have rehearsed it beforehand. Aaron gives you a glance, silently reading your face before answering,
“After homework is finished, I don’t see why not.”
The girls excitedly react to the opportunity to hang out on a school night, and you smile at their happiness. After deciding on the Spongebob Movie, which neither you nor Aaron are surprised by the choice, the girls begin to talk one by one about their day. It’s always great to see Charlotte animatedly discussing anything, but it’s even better to see her interacting with the same enthusiasm she’s shown to you and your family, with other people. It crosses your mind that once you and Charlotte move in with the Burrs, that moments like these will occur more often.
You and Aaron decide that movie night would be best at the Burr household this time. With a kiss on the cheek from Aaron and a kiss given to the crown of each of the girls’ heads, you split up and run back home to pack up an overnight bag for you and Charlotte. When you arrive at the apartment, packing up the essentials goes quickly, and you make a mental note that you should probably start packing up some point for the move. You’ll need to tell the girls soon, but it hasn’t come up yet. Also, you haven’t decided when you wanted to tell them. Should you wait and have it be a surprise for Christmas? Do you tell them now so they know packing’s going to be a chore? And on top of all of that there’s Nathaniel and how he fits into the mix. Sighing deeply, you decide telling Charlotte tomorrow is the best idea regarding Nathaniel. She can decide if she wants to meet him. A quick text is sent to Nathaniel to tell him that’s what you’ll do, and he responds with a “Sounds good!”, which lets you breathe out another sigh, this one not so heavy.
After packing up a quick overnight bag, you take another look at the apartment. It’s exciting to think in a little less than a month that you won’t be living here anymore.
Movie night, of course, was a hit for your girls. Rather than falling asleep on various furniture like they did the first time they slept over together, Theodosia actually pulled out a Spongebob kid’s tent big enough for the two of them. They actually watched the movie from the zipper opening, having stuffed it full of pillows, blankets, and various toys. Credits rolled after the movie, and both girls were fast asleep. Before shutting the movie down and heading to bed yourselves, you snap a picture of the two and send it to Aaron, Peggy, John, and your parents in separate messages. Aaron places a kiss on your temple and the two of you are off to bed.
At 5am you’re both woken by your alarms, silencing them quickly as to not wake the girls, but to also spend some quiet time together. It’s sweet, really, being wrapped up in Aaron’s warm embrace, wearing one of his Columbia Law sweatshirts that you make a mental note to pack it up with your other clothes. After about 15 minutes the two of you get out of bed and shower, getting ready for the day. A quick glance to your phone shows a picture from Peggy, who was opening the cafe today. The picture is of the front of the cafe, covered in snow. The sidewalk was unwalkable and it didn’t even look as if the door could be open.
Previously, in a situation like this, you would panic about the possibility of not being open. Now, as the cafe has started to turn decent profits, you’re not as worried. You dial your should-be sister-in-law/best friend’s number and wait for the phone to ring.
“Are you thinking what I’m thinking?” is how she greets you. Aaron, standing beside you in the bathroom (he has a double mirror/double sink counter in his primary bathroom - how amazing is that?), brushing his teeth, raises an eyebrow at you on your phone at 5:45am.
“I think it would be safer if we don’t open today.”
“Oh thank God, you were thinking the same thing. I’ll make a sign and update the phone and social media,” she replies.
“I’ll message all the employees. I think we could definitely use the discretionary funds so everyone gets their wages today,” you respond, wiping the gunk out of your eyes, watching your reflection in the mirror.
“Fantastic. Do you and Charlotte have plans today?”
“Uh, hold on.” You move the phone away from your mouth and ask Aaron, “Do you know if it’s a snow day for the girls? The cafe is covered, so I can’t imagine school will be open.
“Give me one moment and I’ll grab my phone to check,” Aaron states, leaving the bathroom. This gives Peggy a chance to interrogate you, asking,
“Are you with Aaron right now?”
“Yeah, the girls wanted a movie night so Charlotte and I stayed over last night.” Speaking of Aaron, he comes back and informs you that there is, indeed, a snow day for the girls. You repeat this to Peggy and add, “Maybe we can get a head start on our holiday bucket list. I’ll let you know and if we do anything big besides play outside, you and John would be welcome to join us.”
You and Peggy say your goodbyes and you put your attention back on your boyfriend, who is leaning against the doorway to the bathroom, scrolling through his emails. He’s wearing a maroon robe over his clean undershirt and boxers and white slippers that are surprisingly in pristine condition. You’ve changed into your outfit of the day, which was just slacks and a button down blouse for work. Aaron’s gaze connects back to yours and he informs you work was cancelled for him too.
“Can you tell me about your holiday bucket list?” This question makes you light up and you explain the tradition you and Charlotte have. Every year at the beginning of December you and your daughter come up with a list of 25 things you want to do before the end of January. Initially the idea was to have it done by Christmas, but you and Charlotte agreed that it was not a feasible option for your schedules. Throughout the explanation and examples you were sharing with Aaron, a smile has appeared on his face. He’s watching your animated expressions and he’s thinking to himself, it’s amazing that he found you.
You and Aaron stayed in the bedroom watching the news and talking out your timeline for moving in. It was decided that you’ll tell the girls at Christmas, which was finally agreed upon after coming up with a plan on how to move things without Charlotte realizing things were dwindling or Theodosia noticing the empty rooms were not so empty anymore. You even managed to talk to your parents in this time who insisted on buying Charlotte a whole new bedroom set, one that incidentally matches the one Theodosia has in her room, and asked if you could have her and Theodosia pick out new bedding for part of their Christmas presents (another yearly tradition, you explain) and mentioned that you and Aaron should send which set you want, too. Aaron chuckles and pokes your cheek that is now flushed by the implication. He thanks your parents and adds that he’s looking forward to not being in the city for the holidays.
The phone call ends, and you’re back to staring at your boyfriend. Before he can ask what you think that you should collectively give your parents, you’ve placed a hand on the back of Aaron’s neck and pulled him down to connect his mouth to yours. He makes a surprised noise which becomes muffled by your connected lips. He deepens the kiss for a few more moments and you pull back, smile on your face, and you admit,
“I really love you, Aaron.”
“I really love you, too.”
Eventually the girls wake up around 9am, making their way into the bedroom where you were now watching cartoons and lazily making out. On the bright side, their shuffling feet were loud enough for you to hear and separate before they entered the room. After being told that it was a snow day and there would be no school, they both wordlessly crawled into the bed with you, Charlotte going for Aaron’s lap and Theodosia going for yours. It was apparent that this morning would not be productive, which, looking at the gorgeous girl whose arms are wrapped around you right now, and your daughter in a similar position but with the man you love, this was what you wanted. You grab your phone and get Aaron’s attention, indicating you were going to take a photo of this. It seems Aaron was equally as surprised and warmed by the turn of events, as you were also expecting Charlotte to want to cuddle with you, but this was perfect, too.
After another hour, the girls began to wake up. Theodosia looked a little confused when she realized she was cuddling with you and not her dad, but after a moment of consideration, her arms squeezed you tighter rather than loosening her hold. In turn, you squeeze her tighter and you both giggle quietly.
“Do y’all want pancakes or waffles for brunch?” You ask after making sure everyone was at least awake enough to answer the question. Waffles was the clear winner, and Aaron started the prep on them while you helped the girls get ready for the day. The girls spent some time choosing outfits as Theo kindly offered her clothes up for Charlie, explaining that a lazy day entails a different style than a school day. They complimented your change of clothes too. You had changed back into your leggings that you sleep in and Aaron had handed you another one of his shirts for you to wear (“I know you’re planning on stealing that sweatshirt, but here’s another one you can wear today”) Outfits were picked and the girls went through their morning routines, allowing you a chance to go to the kitchen and help with the breakfast.
The kitchen was amazing. It was almost as good as the kitchen in your cafe which was the result of your meticulous research, budgeting, and design. Aaron also looked like he knew his way around it, which was almost as attractive as the fact that he was wearing a long-sleeved shirt from one of the school fundraisers and sweatpants under a plain apron. Your boyfriend had finished mixing the batter and was getting eggs ready as the waffle iron and skillet were both heating up. He had also pulled out some fruit that he had leftover and some yogurt that was a couple days from expiring. You dug around and found some granola in a lower cupboard, feeling eyes on your butt, wiggling around a little bit more than necessary to tease Aaron. You make immediate eye contact when you bend back up, shaking the granola to get his attention, giving him a knowing smirk, which he returned. Together, you make a brunch spread worthy of the Canary Cafe, applauding Aaron’s talent in the kitchen. The girls chat animatedly to each other, and to you and Aaron, and before you know it, Charlotte is trying to get your attention specifically.
“Hey Mom?”
“Hmm?” you respond, mouth full of your parfait.
“Can we include Mr. Aaron and Theo in our bucket list this year?” You swallow your food as Theo’s attention goes to you, Aaron pretending like he’s not completely interested in this either.
“Hey, I was gonna ask you the same question today! Sure, I think it would be fun to have all four of us do it.”
“Can we make the bucket list today?”
“Sure, Charlie.”
After your daughter explains the bucket list to Theodosia, both girls are extremely excited. It becomes clear that the bucket list needed to be compiled before anything else got done. So you got to work and compiled the list below.
Play in the snow (”We can do that today!”)
Go sledding
Sleigh ride
Rockefeller Center
Family photos with the four of us
Family photos with cousins
Play date with John and Peggy
Hot chocolate at the cafe
Present shopping
Decorate!
Take down decorations (“We have to put this on the list or the decorations stay up until Easter”)
Make a snow family
Snow angels
Wrap presents and send them to SC before the 10th (“I have five siblings and ten nieces and nephews, not to mention John, Peggy, my parents, Charlotte, and the two of you, it’s too many presents to take with us on the plane ride”.)
Bake cookies
Watch holiday episodes of cartoons
Make stockings
Slumber party with John and Peggy (“Ooh, we could do that while you and Ms. Y/N go to your holiday party!)
Holiday party at the Cafe
Karaoke (“We do karaoke instead of caroling because Mom has a bad voice” “Excuse you!”)
Matching sweaters
Fireplace dinner (“Theo and Mr. Aaron have a fireplace so we can do this!)
Pictures with Santa (“Let’s not wait until last minute again, this year, Mom” “Why is my kid revealing all of my secrets?”)
Grinch movie marathon (“Wait, HOW MANY Grinch movies are there?!?”
Dessert for dinner
__________
The snow stopped coming down about 2pm, giving all of you a chance to relax before bundling up to head to the park. You knew the girls weren’t going to last too long in the snow, but you were able to knock out playing in the snow, making a snow family, and making snow angels from the list. Aaron pulled out a digital camera for the little adventure which proved to be a good decision as your phone died about halfway through. Aaron made sure to put the camera back inside his coat so it didn’t get too cold and damage it. It was a good thing too, because not soon after, you send a snowball his way, smacking him square in the shoulder. He takes a moment, gaining the attention of your daughters, as he over-exaggerates his “pain” and “betrayal”, making the girls giggle, and your smile grow wider. Within an instant, though, he’s gathered up a snowball and thrown it with fantastic aim at you. A family snowball fight wasn’t on the list, but it was a very fun experience in the first snowfall of the season.

After Class Antics (My Hero Academia)
Primary Universe
I’VE FOUND A NEW FANDOM.
I’m three seasons into My Hero Academia and I. FREAKING. LOVE. THIS. ANIME. OH MY GOD. Do you realize how many tickle fics I can write for this show?? It’s insane!
That said, here is my debut fic for this fandom! Hope you enjoy, and Happy Thanksgiving to my fellow Americans!
~
It started – as it usually did – with the class getting an idea into their heads.
After school that day, as the students of 1-A trudged back to their dorm, Uraraka and the other girls were swarmed around Deku, complimenting him on how well he’d done in their surprise combat training that day. As usual, Deku was blushing and smiling and taking it all in stride, complimenting each of them as well. It was driving Bakugou crazy.
When they got inside the common area, everyone immediately dropped their bags onto the floor and began undoing their hair or their ties, beginning to take it easy for the first time all day.
That’s when it happened.
Deku had set his bag at his feet and was in the midst of undoing his tie – still surrounded by the girls of 1-A and their chatter – when he suddenly shrieked and stumbled a few steps away from them all, silencing the entire dorm.
“Midoriya,” Iida said, “are you all right? What happened?”
Blushing furiously, Deku held up his hands. “Aha! It was n-nothing. I just…”
“Did I hurt you?” Invisible Girl asked, the outline of her uniform getting closer to him. “I’m sorry, I think I bumped into you on accident. It’s difficult to stay out of the way when no one can see me.”
“It’s fine!” Deku insisted, fumbling with the rest of his tie. “It just surprised me is all, really. I’m okay.”
“Pretty loud shriek for someone who was just surprised,” Bakugou muttered under his breath as he turned to go, but everyone heard him, and everyone knew he was right.
Deku was bright red. Thanks a lot, Kacchan! “I-I…uh…”
“Where did Invisible Girl bump you?” Kirishima asked.
“I-I…”
“I think it was just his side,” Invisible Girl said carefully, “but that was a pretty loud shriek. Are you sure I didn’t hurt you?”
“I-I-!”
Bakugou yelled over his shoulder, “He’s ticklish, you idiots!” Then disappeared into the elevator.
Silence settled over the common area.
Kacchan!!
Deku knew he was in trouble but tried to get away regardless. He leaned down to pick up his bag. “Oh, um, I’m actually kind of worn out…I think I’m gonna go up to my room—”
“Oh, no, you don’t!” Uraraka said, grabbing onto his arm and pulling him back toward the group, who suddenly seemed to Deku very, very villainous.
“Are you seriously that ticklish?” Someone asked.
“We have to see this!” Said another person.
“W-Wait!” Deku panicked and pulled his arm away from Uraraka, turning to book it toward the elevator and safety, but found himself running right into the class representative’s chest. “Iida!”
“No running in the dorms!” Iida declared, but he was grinning, and that was the end to Deku’s plan to get away.
Someone grabbed hold of his sides, someone else took hold of his arms and pulled them upward, yet another someone squeezed his knees, and in a matter of seconds Deku had been fully tackled to the ground, pinned there by his classmates as they tickled him all at once.
“Nahahahahahahahahaha!” Deku burst into hysterical giggles, trying to curl up or squirm away but unable to do so for the several firm hands keeping him in place. He squealed and snorted and blushed like crazy, shaking his head. “Ahahahahahahahahahaha!”
“Dang, he’s really ticklish!”
“I wonder how Bakugou knew?”
“Well they were friends growing up, I think.”
Conversation went on around him, but Deku didn’t hear any of it. All he could focus on was the tickling and the teasing and his utter helplessness to stop any of it.
“Look how cute he is!” One of the girls cooed.
“He’s blushing so hard! It’s adorable!”
“Ehehehehehehehehehehe!” Deku squealed with unstoppable giggles, squirming as much as he could when pinned down by who even knew how many of his classmates.
It didn’t take long for someone to catch on. “He’s not asking us to stop.”
“Does he like it? Do you like this, Deku?”
Before the poor hero-in-training could reply, Uraraka’s voice cut through the rest clearly by saying, “Maybe we just haven’t found his worst spot yet!”
And with that, everyone’s efforts redoubled. There were fingers everywhere – his neck, underarms, ribs, sides, knees – someone had even taken off his shoes and socks and started tickling his feet. But no one had strayed to the bolder areas yet, so for the moment, he was safe.
“Gahahahahahahaha-guys!” Deku screeched, his giggles bordering on laughter the more they tickled him. “Nohohohohohohohohohohohoho!”
“He’s still not asking us to stop!”
“Man, if that were me, I’d be begging for my life right now.”
“Maybe he doesn’t have a worst spot. I mean, all of him seems to be pretty ticklish.”
And then – and then – someone pinched his hips, and the secret was out. Deku tossed his head back and shrieked, laughter bursting from his lungs as his efforts to escape tripled. He thrashed beneath his tormentors wildly. “NAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! NOT THEHEHEHEHEHEHERE!!”
“Hey! We found it!”
“Good job, Todoroki!”
Todoroki had found his worst spot?! He kept pinching and kneading and forcing round after round of laughter from Deku, who was turning redder by the second.
“PLEHEHEHEHEHEHEASE STAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAP!! NO MOHOHOHOHOHORE!! AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!”
“There’s the begging!”
“This is really fun!”
“Come on, let’s all go at it one more time! Then we’ll let him up.”
“NONONOOOOOOHOHOHOHOHOHO!!” Deku practically screamed with laughter, mirthful tears forming in his eyes as he lost all control. “AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! PLEASE STAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAP!!”
“All right, that’s enough!” Iida’s commanding voice cut through the racket. “He needs to breathe. Let him up.”
Just as quickly as it had begun, it was over, and Deku lay on the floor of the common area, gasping for breath and giggling and wiping mirthful tears from his eyes all at once. He was shaking as he rolled onto his side and pushed himself up.
“You okay, Deku?” Uraraka asked, her earlier mischievous tone gone entirely now.
“Y-Yeah…” Deku breathed, running a hand through his hair, which he knew had to look all messed up.
“That was so cute!”
“You’re really ticklish, Midoriya.”
“Did you actually like it? You didn’t ask us to stop until Todoroki found your worst spot.”
Deku hid his face in his hands and groaned. “I-I don’t…mind being tickled…it’s just that I’m so ticklish I can’t take it very long…”
“We’ll have to thank Bakugou later,” Kirishima said, grinning and nudging Kaminari. “This will give us something fun to do for a long time.”
With a groan and a darkening blush, Deku flopped back onto the floor. He thought about telling the others that Kacchan was ticklish, too.
But then he decided that he’d rather stay alive.

April 26th: Talk about special interests. Do you have special interests? If not do you wish you did? What do your special interests mean to you? What are your current special interests? What are your past special interests? idk like i know i sure have & have had Interests, some more of interest than others, and it's also like, oh yeah i guess the ways i held that interest / explored it pretty intently / extensively / at length didn't always seem to be the way other people always felt about things even if we shared the interest, but yknow, at the same time it doesn't necessarily seem as extensive or major as some of the aspects of defining a Special Interest(tm) can be, i haven't been too pressed about it, but of course it's like, i have my Things lol, i.e. yeah this thing is kind of My Thing....and then i can look back on Things like. well idk when i was really little and you're just gonna like Cool Stuff, i did have the thing of like, i like dinosaurs and did sorta casually collect dinosaur stuff, easy enough b/c they make that stuff for kids, memorized a bunch of dinosaur Names so that just being asked to recite a bunch was something i was known to be able to do, a big fan of a couple semi educational computer games we had, shoutout to 3d dinosaur adventure and this magic school bus dinosaur (and ocean) game, had pajamas ft dinosaurs, rip to when i had a sick metal lunchbox with dinosaurs on it and it just broke on like week 1 of first grade or whatever and i just had to go back to default lunchboxes. well and then but anyways but from then on it was like, well, i guess it's media time......read a shit ton all the time, was into some tv series / movies, played some pc / video games, there was stuff i'd be glad to revisit over and over, and yknow, as this went on it'd be like, well now when there's A Relatable Enough Character in something i also like just in general, that's a powerful combo, though sometimes it's like, yeah i like this thing enough even in the absence of any particular [and i extra go hard about this character] element, that's not Not at play as it's like "well and i guess i will think about this quant every day for years now lmfao," and i can sure always talk about stuff At Length too, which sure is not something other people are generally interested in, but if/when they are, it's like okay great, this is a great connection point then, b/c otherwise it's like, i generally don't know what to say about myself, didn't get much practice, did pick up a sense of like, well stuff is Wrong about myself and my life so i shouldn't share it and also i'm not picking up friends so it was generally accurate that no one was exactly interested lmao. small talk is really more of a barrier / test you can just potentially fail, yet anything more personal is Oversharing, but hey i would earnestly love to talk at length about This Thing, so great when other people are into that at all lol and then if we vibe it's like, obviously that's the sort of functional "small talk" route here lol to being able to be more familiar w/each other and talk more generally, even if yknow, wuh oh, i'm kind of cagey outside those Interests i will talk about in ways that's probably "too much" by most ppl's standards, worst of both worlds when it comes to forming relationships but oh well, it is what it is and i sure don't consider it a bad thing i have plenty to say about things i Want to talk about, and it sure doesn't impede on anyone else if i'm Not Talking about other shit.
also then it's like, "idk what it is when you just determinedly Pursue something that's maybe still not the hugest deal, but i don't really feel very pressed re: figuring it out" like, does it count like how i mentioned today i'd read bird guides for fun as a kid, and watch this bird documentary and be like "hey. check out this scene in this bird documentary with this bird mimicry" to friends i now realize were probably mostly bemused by this, and really liked birds just generally (still true), and thus have like, maybe more Bird Knowledge than the average random person but also am hardly some self taught ornithological expert. or how i'm big into linguistics and etymology and, in theory, language learning, always really latching on to the little i was taught in school, also perusing some Language Guides available, and like, not really self teaching a bit re: learning some of a couple languages, just learning via teaching resources outside of [directly through any academic institution], never took any language classes, sure have no fluency in fuckall.........how about that i just decided as a kid like "hm i want to be able to draw" b/c i felt that way (and yknow, still do in a way lol) about pretty much anything, but i just also liked doodling and took some art classes and it was always this casual thing and now i use this to make fanart for the Media Interests lol, and although this is all digital drawing and drawing was always my primary thing it's like, well okay also yeah there was like, some painting / pastels / sculpting other Visual Arts stuff, and then, like, i sure enjoyed dance classes and the Performing Arts aspect of that, theatre gay adjacent b/w that and choir lol, have regular dreams about being part of impromptu dance performances, including just last night, rip to the special thwarting of "oh no i'm going around trying to get food before the show, getting stuck in traffic or lost in stores, and i've missed my whole first appearance" lol. anxiety dreams never end........and idk, i've had a love for math stuff, physics stuff, space stuff, even felt that [!] for the little i was able to get into circuitry and coding, but yknow. learning that shit is kind of involved and i only had so much experience re: taking classes, also, unfortunately, i always hated school lmao, so it's just kind of there where i'm like oh i get Into this shit in the ways that other people who are definitely Into it feel about it lmao. but yeah, idk, i do have like. well here's this sort of stuff i think about Every Day, this sort of mental home base sometimes, that i don't get tired of and reexplore / reexperience pretty intensively, but at the same time like, sometimes i can just sort of have something be that Interest for a lot more of a temporary duration, and things that were that main shit is like, well Probably when i like it that much once i like it down the line even if i haven't been that focused on it in the meantime, more just latent, but then it's like, well, but probably could and would still talk So Much about it still even if it's not like, oh yeah i'm Into This(tm) right Now lol..........idk! but i sure get really into shit and like, if anyone else is interested in me talking at length / drawing about it, that's sure probably the most successful grounds for Connection lmao cuz yknow. even people who maybe share that interest aren't guaranteed to see that and go "yeah this is someone i'm interested in actually talking to though" like yeah here's your preview of my personality i guess lol
April 27th: What is your favourite form of media? For example, do you enjoy books? What format do you prefer for books (physical, e-book, audiobook)? Did you love reading as a kid but find it challenging as you got older? How about movies, tv, or video games? Do you have a favourite series? yeah i read all the time as a kid, on the bus, if i finished shit early at school, on the bus again, also at home plenty, not so much when i was in college when it's like oh i can just do kinda whatever now (also as people point out it's like. well gotta do all this reading for classes now so) and then it was like, i'll get into other Media i can freely experience at any time, and also hang out with people Some, which i can also just do whenever now, as opposed to at any point before this......still like reading but it can sure kind of be a Whole Thing, like i either can't focus and it's like well time to read like, a paragraph or page a day, or else i'm focusing Too Much really like, if i'm at all trying to see how something ends i might burn through it in a few days (still a fairly slow reader) which is like, do i want to spend multiple days on this One Thing, even if it takes me like, multiple times the runtime to watch a movie or something, that's still probably getting done in 1 day. plus that yeah, mostly reading new shit via laptop, which is kind of a pain as opposed to physical books or like, e readers in theory, i've never actually used one. the only time i used an audiobook was a few times as a kid to read along with longer books to sort of help with that momentum, such a hot minute ago that this was via Tape Cassette.....i do listen to podcasts though, great for like, doing Something Else at the same time, which i don't know that i could split up that focus and guaranteed successfully absorb a book, Maybe So but select podcasts are my Extensive Audio of choice. never really watched that much tv, there were some stuff me and my siblings might watch as it aired, but not really Narrative Series lol, never seen shit, haven't even really watched That many movies either, still don't Really even though it's like yeah w/e in Theory i enjoy these mediums it's like oh my godddd it's a whole thing to focus on one and then plus what if i don't like it but i've had to put in all that time to know i didn't like it lmao.......i can enjoy keeping up with a tv series like, oh boy once a week a half hour to hour installment, that's a great format truly, but i'm rarely getting that experience lmao like. with billions you could stand 2 weeks between episodes b/c whew but it's v Rare like oh thank god, a series with that weekly release........but otherwise it's like ugh do i wanna have alllll this material to watch, do i wanna go through the whole process of figuring out what movie i feel like giving a try........and that i like Revisiting shit i already like pretty endlessly so it's like, i might just do that. so it's like, audio wise i'll put on podcasts, if i feel like watching something i Might be bothered to try out a movie or smthing b/c yknow, ultimately more doable to consume something that's just a few hours, all that when i'm Thinking About a tv series every day for years lmfao, shoutout to billions which sure gets to be my fave b/c tf else am i keeping up with, literally nothing else, even if i haven't gotten around to actually watching all of it yet / haven't simply sat straight through even the episodes i have watched, i Could do it but it's like god formidable when it's sure more than a movie's worth of content and plenty of "i don't care about this and/or hate this" to make me put my head through the wall lmfao thank you billions........also sometimes i remember like "oh yeah, i guess in theory i enjoy video games as well" but i didn't have That much experience w/them and sure don't now, so that's like well irrelevant ig. media

Hakuouki SSL: Chapter 1 (Heisuke)

Here is the translation for chapter 1 of Heisuke’s route! Primary translation by yuugs, and proofreading by kuririn, shizuumi, and dei-hime.
Translation begins under the cut! You can also find it at our new blogspot!
―― June ――
As the calendar turns to the next page, our uniforms turn to summer ones as well.
In April and May, I was so desperate to get used to high school life that the months just flew by….
Lately, I think I’ve finally made a place for myself in my life at Hakuo Academy.
Of course, it’s still an environment meant for boys so I still feel a little out of place. But thanks to my reliable friends and teachers, I’m living a fulfilling life at school——
Two months have passed since I began high school. It’s a clear and sunny morning in June. When I came to school, immediately after entering the building, the first thing I felt was an odd atmosphere.
As I climbed the stairs, just as I turned onto the landing——
Chizuru Yukimura: “Wah!?”
???: “Ah!”
I collided with the student rushing around the corner, and ended up falling on my butt.
Chizuru Yukimura: “Ow…"
Susumu Yamazaki: "Yukimura-kun? Sorry…”
Hajime Saitou: “I told you not to rush, Yamazaki. Are you alright, Yukimura?”
I looked up into two faces I recognized. Saitou-senpai was holding a textbook under one arm. He held out his hand to me.
Chizuru Yukimura: “Ah… yes, I’m alright."
Trying not to overthink it, I grabbed his hand and he pulled me upright.
Chizuru Yukimura: ”…Thank you for that.“
Chizuru Yukimura:: "I’m sorry, Yamazaki-senpai. I wasn’t being careful.”
As I bowed deeply to the two of them, I noticed a second year textbook had fallen to the floor.
Chizuru Yukimura: “Isn’t this your textbook, Yamazaki-senpai?”
Susumu Yamazaki: “O-Oh, did I drop it? …I didn’t notice. Thanks.”
Chizuru Yukimura: “……”
Something was off. Yamazaki’-senpai’s eyes had kind of a glazed look, and there were dark circles underneath them. Saitou-senpai also looked tired.
This seems…
[Are you alright?] or [Are you not getting enough sleep?]
Chizuru Yukimura: “Are you getting enough sleep?”
Susumu Yamazaki: “Well, um, that’s just how it is right now… It’s no big deal.”
Hajime Saitou: “Right. The real pain will begin next week or so."
Chizuru Yukimura: “…?”
They smiled bitterly, and then turned away. As they did…their gait seemed uneven. They said it wasn’t a big deal, but it didn’t look that way.
Chizuru Yukimura: "I wonder if they’re okay…”
I was getting more and more worried, but I didn’t have much time left before homeroom. Without another word, I hurried off to my classroom.
_ _
All morning, the school had been filled with chattering students. The hallway before the classrooms was especially lively. Maybe it was because classes hadn’t started yet. Having gotten to know them over the last two months, I exchanged greetings with my classmates in the hall as I headed to my classroom. On the way, I saw familiar faces in the distance and suddenly stopped in my tracks.
Chizuru Yukimura: “Heisuke-kun and Okita-senpai?"
I thought that was a freshman classroom. Why would two sophomores be there? It would be time for homeroom soon…
[Call out to them] or [Leave them alone]
Chizuru Yukimura: "Heisuke-kun, Okita-senpai!”
I called out to them, waving. Both of them noticed me and immediately came over.
Heisuke Toudou: “Yo, Chizuru. G’morning!”
Chizuru Yukimura: “Morning, Heisuke-kun. Did you guys just come back from practice?"
Souji Okita: "Yep. Been working like dogs all morning.”
They were part of the kendo club, which often met in the morning. On days when there was morning training, Heisuke-kun and I couldn’t walk to school together. I got a bit lonely those days… But seeing him trying his hardest made me happy.
Chizuru Yukimura: “But why are you guys here? This is a first year classroom…”
Heisuke Toudou: “That’s… well, the thing is… We were just passing by…”
Souji Okita: “Why not be honest? This guy came by ‘cause he was worried about you.”
Heisuke Toudou: “Ah! Hey, Souji!”
Chizuru Yukimura: “Worried…about me?” I blinked in surprise. Heisuke-kun rubbed his head and mumbled.
Heisuke Toudou: “I mean, you’re surrounded by a bunch of guys, right? I’m worried they might pick on you or something.”
Chizuru Yukimura: “No, no, I’m alright. I’ve made a lot of friends in my class these past new months.”
Souji Okita: “There you go. Yet here he comes anyway, worrying his little head off about you. Pretty stalker-ish vibes, don’t you think?"
Heisuke Toudou: "W-Who you calling a stalker! I’m not anything like one!”
I smiled at Okita-senpai’s and Heisuke-kun’s bickering.
Chizuru Yukimura: “Anyway, guys, I think the bell’s about to ring.”
Heisuke Toudou: "Oh, crap! You’re right!”
Souji Okita: “Well, we’ll probably see you at lunch later.”
Chizuru Yukimura: “Yup!”
After seeing them off, I went back to enter the classroom…
When I did, I took out my textbook and notebook to get ready for class. The bell rang as soon as I’d finished, and I heard the sound of the door opening.
Sanosuke Harada: “Take your seats, guys. Homeroom’s starting.”
As Harada-sensei came in, everyone rushed to their seats.
Classmate A: “Stand! Bow!”
Sanosuke Harada: “All right, morning!”
Everyone in class: “Good morning!”
Sanosuke Harada: “Time for attendance…is what I was going to say, but it seems like everyone’s here. Raise a hand if not.”
Ryuunosuke Ibuki: “You can’t do that if you’re not here…”
Ibuki-kun startled me by suddenly speaking up. A laugh escaped me before I could stop myself. Harada-sensei did make jokes like this at times. He really was a friendly, kind teacher.
Sanosuke Harada: “Now then, you all started school two months ago, and now it’s June. With that being the case…Though you might already know this, our school’s midterm exams start in two weeks! Make sure to study diligently, you guys. Put your feet up and slack off, and who knows what horrors you might be tempting?” Harada-sensei smirked as if he knew something we didn’t.
Ryuunosuke Ibuki: "Horrors…?”
Sanosuke Harada: “If you think this’ll be the same as tests back in middle school, you’ll be in for a bad time. As you all know, Hakuo Academy has a teacher that’s much more passionate about educating its students than other schools do.”
Chizuru Yukimura: “Passionate about educating, meaning–”
Ryuunosuke Ibuki: “…It’s Hijikata-sensei, isn’t it?”
Sanosuke Harada: “Well, so it goes. Following a certain teacher’s suggestion, there’ll be penalties for students with lower scores. Those scoring less than 50% in a subject will receive a special homework assignment, and must clean all the school’s windows.“
Everyone in class: ”……“
As Harada-sensei with his explanation, everyone in class got paler and paler.
Sanosuke Harada: “Below 30% gets you cleaning corridors on top of the additional homework… And below that, the punishments get extra special.”
Chizuru Yukimura: ”'Special,’ he says…“
Sanosuke Harada: "Below 20% means doing a problem set, weeding the school yard, and a week of additional classes!”
Classmate A: “Whaaaaat?!”
Sanosuke Harada: “Sorry, but it’s already set in stone. Don’t like it? Then study like there’s no tomorrow. I don’t think anyone should get lower than 50%. If you study then you’ll be in the clear, right?”
While listening to Harada-sensei, I recalled what happened this morning. The reason why Saitou-senpai and Yamazaki-senpai seemed so off was probably this.
Chizuru Yukimura: “……”
While I didn’t mind studying, there was no way I’d want extra homework.
Ryuunosuke Ibuki: “What would that guy do to me if I got myself stuck in supplemental classes...?!” Ibuki’s face drained of all color, and he hung his head.
This was going to be difficult. I would have to brace myself… The midterm exams would begin the week after next. Although I thought June’s hardships were over, the real battle was just around the corner.
_ _
After morning classes had finished, it was finally time for lunch. ‘Am I worrying too much about the tests? I feel kind of weird today,’ I thought.
Chizuru Yukimura: “I should go to the cafeteria for the time being.”
Heisuke-kun and Okita-senpai were probably waiting for me…After quickly putting my school supplies away, I headed for the cafeteria.
For Hakuo Academy students, there were essentially three ways to get lunch. Some students brought a bento from home, and some bought their lunches at the school store. But the most popular lunch choice was to buy a meal from the cafeteria.
Chizuru Yukimura: “Wow…”
The school lunches were all delicious and affordable. It was no wonder they were so popular. I usually brought a bento, but sometimes I didn’t feel like having one. Since it was so popular, it was jam-packed by the time I got there.
Genzaburou Inoue: “Hey, you there! Line up properly! There are plenty of meals to go around...Hey now…! Don’t argue over the rice! Remember your manners and share!”
The beloved school chef, Inoue-san, was also managing the cafeteria. It looked like he was doing a good job sorting the students out, as usual.
Chizuru Yukimura: “Heisuke-kun isn’t here yet, huh…?” ‘I’ll get in the way if I stand and wait here. What should I do?’ the moment the thought passed through my mind...
???: “You’re in the way. Move.”
Chizuru Yukimura: “Huh…?”
A voice rang out from the other side of the crowd. Immediately afterwards, the masses parted, splitting into two. Imperious as ever, the figure which emerged between them was...
Chizuru Yukimura: “K-Kazama-senpai…”
Amagiri-senpai and Shiranui-senpai pushed away annoyed students left and right, creating an empty clearing in the otherwise crowded cafeteria.
Chikage Kazama: “Chizuru…? For us to meet here of all places… How serendipitous. As I thought, there is a strong bond of fate between us. Don’t you agree?”
Chizuru Yukimura: "Wha–”
Kyou Shiranui: “Is it? You go to the same school with the same cafeteria. Wouldn’t it be weirder if you didn’t see each other?”
Kyuuju Amagiri: “It is strange, now that you mention it... That you have never encountered each other here until today is rather more mysterious.”
Chikage Kazama: “……”
Kyou Shiranui: “Don’t sound like much of a bond to me.”
Chikage Kazama: “……No matter. Whatever the peanut gallery says, rest assured that our meeting today was destiny. As such, I will have your lunch prepared. Order whatever you wish.”
Chizuru Yukimura: “Huh?!”
Chikage Kazama: “What’s wrong? There’s no need to hold back. Even if you want everything on the menu, I won’t mind.”
Chizuru Yukimura: “That’s not what I’m worried about…! At any rate, treating me to so much is unfair to you!”
Chikage Kazama: “That modesty is a virtue of yours, but I insist that it’s fine. ....Or is it something else? Does the cafeteria food not suit your palate?”
Chizuru Yukimura: “T-That’s not the case at all! It’s delicious! It’s just that……”
As I shook my head, the number of people waiting for food was increasing. Maybe because of how we stood out in the middle, other students couldn’t get in line…The people who were stuck around us were getting angry. ‘W-What should I do…?’ I was so conflicted that I could feel tears starting to form in my eyes. Then–
???: “You again, Kazama!!” An ear-splitting yell descended upon us.
Toshizou Hijikata: “Just what do you think you’re doing, harassing the female student in the middle of the cafeteria? Can’t you see she’s about to cry!?”
Chikage Kazama: “Ha. How ludicrous… You say that as if I were the one who made her cry.”
Kyou Shiranui: “…You say it, Amagiri.”
Kyuuju Amagiri: “Well, I can say we never intended in the slightest to make her cry…”
Toshizou Hijikata: “Then why is she holding back tears? …And why is everyone packed like sardines in here? Out with it.”
Chikage Kazama: “My wife’s eyes are full of tears due to her gratitude for my superb generosity. As to the cafeteria, it just happens to be crowded today. To falsely accuse a single student of being responsible is unbefitting of a teacher such as yourself.”
Toshizou Hijikata: “There’s a suspicious clearing around you and you only! Put two and two together, and it can only be your fault!”
Hijikata-sensei and Kazama-senpai always fought like cats and dogs, and their terrible relationship was infamous at school. Sparks flew the moment they met, and it only ever grew more and more extreme.
Chizuru Yukimura: “……”
When I saw Hijikata-sensei coming earlier, I thought everything would be sorted. It relieved me from the bottom of my heart… But far from improving anything, the situation seemed like it was only going to get worse.
Chizuru Yukimura: “…W-What do I do…?”
[Stand and watch] or [Forcibly break them up]
‘Trying to interfere from the sidelines may make things even more complicated.’ Thinking that, I decided to keep my mouth shut for the time being. But in the end…
Toshizou Hijikata: “Looks like I was right! It doesn’t seem like she asked for your 'superb generosity’!”
Chikage Kazama: “That is due to a difference in values. It seems that a lowlife like you has yet to be able to understand my excellent resourcefulness…”
...There was no sign of the dispute stopping anytime soon. While I squirmed on the sidelines, someone called out to me from the side.
Heisuke Toudou: “Chizuru! Sorry we’re late! Class went on longer than normal."
Chizuru Yukimura: "Heisuke-kun, Okita-senpai…!”
Souji Okita: “What the? What’s all the fuss about? Why’s it so crowded here?”
Chizuru Yukimura: “Right, actually—”
After I briefly explained the situation, Heisuke-kun and Okita-senpai looked amazed. While Hijikata-sensei and Kazama-senpai glared at each other with murderous intent, Heisuke-kun and Okita-senpai looked at the pair and sighed.
Souji Okita: “How about we leave them to it and head off? If you don’t hurry, you won’t get to eat.”
Heisuke Toudou: “Right, right. Our lunch break’s gonna end! I’m already hungry too…”
Chizuru Yukimura: “Oh? …O-Okay…” ‘Would that be alright…?’
Genzaburou Inoue: “Hey, Toshi-san and Kazama-kun, what’re you doing!? You’re holding up the line for everyone!!”
The teachers’ confrontation weighed on my mind, but...Mr. Inoue shouted to rein in the situation. Hearing his booming voice, I turned around and left the pair.
Souji Okita: “Chizuru, over here.”
With our meal sets on our trays, we found Okita-senpai sitting at an empty table. I’d chosen meal set 'A’. Drinking a cup of warm miso soup always relaxed me.
Heisuke Toudou: “Ahh, it’s so good…! I worked out so much this morning, I couldn’t wait for lunch!”
Chizuru Yukimura: “Good work with training this morning, you guys!”
Heisuke Toudou: “I’m sorry I couldn’t walk with you to school because of that...But in the end, morning’s the best time of day to be working up a sweat.”
Souji Okita: “Well, it gets hot during the day this time of year, so I get sluggish when school ends.”
Heisuke Toudou: “You said it… But lately we got club members who study in the middle of morning practice. You can’t focus on training if you do that.”
Souji Okita: “The entire school’s been on edge. I don’t know whether it’s the tests or the punishments, but it’s a real pain.”
Heisuke Toudou: “Well, the one who’s most on edge would be Hijikata-sensei.”
Chizuru Yukimura: “Speaking of which… You’re both in Class 2-1, so isn’t Hijikata-sensei your homeroom teacher?”
Souji Okita: “Yep. He’s all busy ruining the mood at school and being pissy about it, what with embodying the root of all evil and all, and causing a good amount of trouble."
Chizuru Yukimura: "The… The root of all evil…?”
Heisuke Toudou: "I mean, earlier, the reactions from everyone felt different than usual.”
Chizuru Yukimura: “…Now that you mention it…”
You could call it a kind of insecurity hanging over everyone… There was no mistaking that the air felt heavier than usual, at least to me. Midterms were about to begin, after all. ‘I wonder if the tension is spreading…’
Heisuke Toudou: “Oops, we ended up talking about the tests even though I wanted to forget about it for lunch.”
Chizuru Yukimura: “Ah… Sorry about that, Heisuke-kun.”
Souji Okita: “No, there’s no reason for you to apologize. This is his fault.”
Heisuke Toudou: “That’s right—wait, no, it’s not! You’re the one who brought up the tests, right!?”
Even though Heisuke-kun shot a disgruntled look at Okita-senpai, he heaved a deep sigh right after.
Heisuke Toudou: “Anyway, it’d be better if the tests just, like, disappeared…”
Chizuru Yukimura: “Don’t say that. We should study hard anyway.”
Heisuke Toudou: “N-No, that… Well, I know that, but…”
Souji Okita: “……”
While Heisuke-kun faltered in his mumbling, Okita-senpai looked at him and grinned. At some point, he snapped a picture before I’d even realized he’d taken out his phone.
Heisuke Toudou: “Whoa!? Souji, what’re you taking pictures of!?”
Souji Okita: “You’re not photogenic at all, are you?”
Heisuke-kun slumped his shoulders, and Okita-senpai grinned at him, eyes full of laughter.
I said to them…
[Is it that hard?] or [The rules may be too strict…] or [Studying daily is important.]
These two already went through the tests last year... I became uneasy listening to them, and afraid to ask about it.
Chizuru Yukimura: "Uh, are the tests in Hakuo Academy really that difficult...?"
Heisuke Toudou: "Hm? Well, they're definitely no cakewalk… But you'll be fine! Besides, compared to the mess I'm in, those punishments look like an absolute treat..."
Souji Okita: "Unlike everyone else, Heisuke here'll receive even greater punishments if he scores low."
Chizuru Yukimura: "Huh?"
Heisuke Toudou: "H-Hey, man, don't go exposing me!"
Chizuru Yukimura: "Did something happen, Heisuke-kun...?"
Heisuke Toudou: "......"
Souji Okita: "So what happened was, we had this pop quiz on classical lit, and Heisuke tanked it."
Heisuke Toudou: "Yeah... And Hijikata-sensei teaches the classical literature course."
Souji Okita: "Hell hath no fury like Hijikata-sensei scorned. You could practically see the steam shooting out his ears. I wish you could've seen it."
Heisuke Toudou: "About half of it was Souji's fault for fanning the flames..."
Chizuru Yukimura: "What did you do, Okita-senpai..."
Souji Okita: "It's not like I did anything major. I think I just acted the way I always do, honestly."
Heisuke Toudou: "......"
Souji Okita: "And then, in his fury, Hijikata-sensei laid down some conditions for Heisuke. If he scores less than 50% on the next test, he'll be prohibited from club activities for a fixed time on top of the other punishments."
Chizuru Yukimura: "N-No way... But the kendo club is so important to you, Heisuke-kun. You have to do well..."
Heisuke Toudou: "That's right! I really love kendo, and I definitely don't wanna have to stop doing it. But I only ever barely pass the classical lit tests... Honestly, I might not even make it this time."
Chizuru Yukimura: "D-Don't give up, Heisuke-kun! You won't get any penalties with a decent score."
Heisuke Toudou: "...Yeah. I know that, but..." Heisuke-kun sighed deeply and started eating his beef bowl in silence, marking the end of that conversation.
Souji Okita: "That's a grim look you're sporting, Heisuke. It feels like you already got the punishment before the tests have even started."
Chizuru Yukimura: "......"
‘I wonder if Heisuke-kun will be alright...’ While eating the rest of my lunch, I didn't have the time to worry about him anymore.

As the days went by, the older students, who already knew how severe the penalties were, grew more and more desperate. Seeing them also made us grow more anxious as well, as freshmen. The strange tension that enveloped Hakuo Academy just kept growing stronger.
And then…
―― 7 days until the tests ――
While we studied for our tests day after day, Harada-sensei looked around at our exhausted faces and grinned from his podium.
Sanosuke Harada: “Looking good, guys. It looks like you lot finally understand how serious we are about our tests.”
Ryuunosuke Ibuki: “What does he mean, 'looking good’? This is just agony…”
Sanosuke Harada: “Hey, don’t say that. It’s not like I don’t get what you’re going through. Just think of this as a rite of passage. This is what you signed up for enrolling into Hakuo Academy. There’s no turning back now. Anyway, just do your best.”
Everyone in class: ”……“
What he said was irrefutably correct. Everyone lost the will to argue, and went silent.
_ _
―― 6 days until the tests ――
That day, I ran into Kazama-senpai in the corridor without expecting to. Naturally, Amagiri-senpai and Shiranui-senpai were shadowing him, as usual.
Chikage Kazama: “Chizuru. Less than a week remains until testing begins. Are you studying properly?”
Chizuru Yukimura: "I am. I’m working at my own pace, and it’s going fairly well, I think…”
'How about you, Kazama-senpai?’ ...I felt like I didn’t even need to ask. Why? Because he seemed plenty calm, a smug smile spreading across his face.
Chikage Kazama: “These students growing so flustered over mere high school tests is truly unsightly. Don’t you think so?”
Chizuru Yukimura: “Uh… T-That’s…”
Kyou Shiranui: "Uh, no, 'cause high school students are bound to freak out over high school tests. Rather than unsightly, it’s just normal.
Kyuuju Amagiri: ”…Kazama-sama. If we do not depart soon, you will be late for your next lesson.“
Chikage Kazama: “Hmph. Whether or not I attend any classes, there’s not a single thing the test will cover that I won’t understand… But very well. Let us show our faces in class for today. Well then, I bid you farewell.”
I was left standing alone in the hallway, overwhelmed as Kazama-senpai swaggered off with an arrogant look on his face.
_ _
―― 5 days until the tests ――
Chizuru Yukimura: “Good morning, Saitou-senpai.”
Hajime Saitou: “Is that you, Yukimura? Morning.”
Chizuru Yukimura: “You still have disciplinary committee work in the mornings even though we only have five days until the tests. That must be hard…”
Hajime Saitou: “No, it’s important to accumulate knowledge on a regular basis in order to study properly. So there’s no point in panicking just before a test.”
Just what you’d expect from Saitou-senpai…
Hajime Saitou: “However, all sports and culture clubs have suspended their activities for the tests. So since Heisuke’s not with you, he must be late. One strike for him.”
Chizuru Yukimura: “N-No, he’s on class duty today, so he should’ve arrived before me!”
Hajime Saitou: “Come to think of it, he might’ve passed by a short while ago…”
Looking at him more closely, I could see the dark bags under Saitou-senpai’s eyes. On the surface, he looked as dignified as ever, but his grip on his pen looked a little shaky, too. Perhaps Saitou-senpai was staying up late studying too…
_ _ ―― 4 days until the tests ――
On Saturday, I was studying in my room, when suddenly my cell phone rang.
Chizuru Yukimura: “Okita-senpai…?”
‘A message with a picture attached, as usual. Let’s have a look…’
He’s making a peace sign at the camera, with an odd-looking plushie hanging from his hand.
“I won a toy that I thought you’d like.
I’ll give it to you at school.
I’ll bring it up to your classroom for you, even.”
Chizuru Yukimura: “……”
‘What kind of tastes does he think I have? Moreover…’
Chizuru Yukimura: “Even though it’s a Saturday with tests right around the corner, he still finds time to fool around!”
_ _
―― 3 days until the tests ――
It was Sunday morning.
I decided to do a little sweeping by the front door for a change of pace. At that moment, Heisuke-kun appeared, staggering.
Chizuru Yukimura: “Heisuke-kun?! Are you okay…!?”
Heisuke Toudou: “Chizuru… Mornin’…”
He had terrible, dark bags under his eyes and his eyes were hollow. He was so exhausted that he couldn’t even walk straight.
Heisuke Toudou: “I-I’m on the verge of falling asleep… So I’m running a lap around the block. Must…stay…awake…”
Chizuru Yukimura: “But if you don’t sleep a little, you won’t last until the test!"
Heisuke Toudou: "No way! I’m not done studying yet! I’ll totally flunk it!! Don’t stop me, Chizuru! Don’t stop me! I’m not ready to die yet!”
Chizuru Yukimura: “Wait, Heisuke-kun! A whole lap around the block is too much no matter how you look at it—”
I tried to stop him, but he’d already run off... While watching his disappearing figure staggering in zigzags down the road, I could only pray for his safety.
_ _
―― 2 days until the tests ――
During recess.
I gathered my class’s printouts and brought them to the staff room…
Toshizou Hijikata: “……”
Hijikata-sensei, looking particularly annoyed, was sighing deeply. He looked no better than the students, just as exhausted by pre-test frenzy.
Chizuru Yukimura: “Is something wrong, Hijikata-sensei?”
Toshizou Hijikata: “Those guys are so tired from cramming that they sleep through my classes. Because of them, I’m screaming my lungs out every morning. Classes are a key part of test preparations. Their priorities are all backwards!”
Chizuru Yukimura: “…You’ve been working really hard…”
I think they just stay up all night studying out of fear of punishment… Even though I understood Hijikata-sensei’s concerns, I couldn’t help but smile wryly.
__
―― At last, the day before the test ――
Chizuru Yukimura: “Finally, it’s tomorrow…”
At the end of the school day, while I was putting away my textbooks, I glanced to to the desk beside mine…
Ryuunosuke Ibuki: “……”
Ibuki-kun sat here, engrossed in his studies, showing no signs of getting up to go home.
Chizuru Yukimura: “Ibuki-kun, aren’t you going home?”
Ryuunosuke Ibuki: “Ah… I wouldn’t be able to study even if I did. Since Serizawa-san’s there...”
Ibuki-kun often mentions him when we talk. It seems like he doesn’t get along with this ‘Serizawa-san’. With him looking so cornered, I could only bring a forced smile to my lips.
Chizuru Yukimura: “Do your best.”
Ryuunosuke Ibuki: “You too.”
He gave a little smile, and then, as if he were clinging onto his desk, dived back into his books for the test.
At that moment…
Chizuru Yukimura: “?”
I noticed my phone vibrating in my pocket and took it out. A message notification came up on my screen.
Chizuru Yukimura: “Oh, it’s from Sen-chan.”
Sen is my friend who attends Shimabara Girls’ High School not too far away from my academy.
—–
Sub: Will you be okay for the test?
Chizuru-chan, are you going to be okay for the tests?
I can’t take it anymore~!
I just want to run away from it all~!
But, after we get through these midterms, we definitely need to hang out!
I will survive them on your moral support, Chizuru-chan!!
—–
Chizuru Yukimura: “I see. They have tests at the same time as us. Shimabara High is a sister school to Hakuo Academy, come to think of it…”
“Jeez, Sen-chan…”
Having read her message, I decided to reply right away. ‘But what should I write?’
[I’m looking forward to it!] or [Let’s concentrate on studying!]
Chizuru Yukimura: “'I’m looking forward to it!’ …and send.”
I think it’s easier to persevere when there’s a prize waiting for you after all the struggle.
A short while after I sent it, Sen-chan replied.
—–
RE: Will you be okay for the test?
Definitely!
Let’s both do our best!
—–
Chizuru Yukimura: “Hehe…”
I could feel my motivation grow with Sen-chan cheering for me.
“Well, I should go over my notes one last time before the test…”
I finished getting ready and took my bag, leaving the classroom.
Then…
As I headed towards the school entrance, something crossed my field of vision.
Chizuru Yukimura: "Heisuke-kun?"
Heisuke Toudou: "......"
I saw him stagger down the hallway, his body swaying left and right. Even though I called out to him, he didn't seem to notice me.
Chizuru Yukimura: "I should go after him!"
I followed him as he staggered to his classroom.
Chizuru Yukimura: "Excuse me..."
Even though it was probably empty after school, entering the senior students' classroom still made me nervous. But fortunately, the only one left there was Heisuke-kun.
Chizuru Yukimura: "Heisuke-kun, are you okay...?"
Heisuke Toudou: "Chizuru?... What are you doing here? Uh oh. Am I dreaming...?"
Chizuru Yukimura: "N-No! It's not a dream!" I hurried to stop him as he began to slap his cheeks hard.
Heisuke Toudou: "Then, why are you here in my classroom? Isn't that weird?"
Chizuru Yukimura: "I saw you earlier in the hallway, and followed you here. Anyway, why haven't you gone home yet, Heisuke-kun...?"
Heisuke Toudou: "If I go home, I’ll fall asleep...so I'll go back after I study for a bit..."
Whatever he said, he clearly wasn’t getting enough sleep. If he didn’t rest at least a little bit, he would collapse before the test the next day...
Chizuru Yukimura: "Heisuke-kun. How about you take a break, even if it's just for a little while...? If you fall asleep during the test, don't you think all your hard work up until now will go to waste?"
Heisuke Toudou: "Ugh... B-But, if I fall asleep now, I definitely won't be able to wake up in the morning!"
Chizuru Yukimura: "Hmm… Well, I'll wake you up then."
Heisuke Toudou: "Wha...!? I'm grateful, Chizuru, but wouldn’t that be annoying for you?"
Chizuru Yukimura: "Not at all. I’ll study while you sleep."
Heisuke Toudou: "R-Really...?"
Chizuru Yukimura: "If it's possible, I think it’d be best if you lay down in the infirmary beds."
Heisuke Toudou: "N-No, I can't do that! If I lay down in a bed now, I'll end up sleeping forever..."
Chizuru Yukimura: "What are you going to do then?"
He fell silent for a moment, as if he were thinking about something. Before long, he raised his face and looked me in the eyes with a serious expression.
Heisuke Toudou: "Hey... Chizuru, Can you do me a favor?"
Chizuru Yukimura: "A favor?"
Heisuke Toudou: "Yeah. I mean, it’s—"
Chizuru Yukimura: "...Wha...?!"
Heisuke-kun whispered in my ear a request I didn't expect at all.
Chizuru Yukimura: "N-No matter what...?"
Heisuke Toudou: "No matter what!!"
Chizuru Yukimura: "...Uh..."
The suggestion was something really embarrassing... But, if that was all I had to do to help him do his best… Despite my hesitation, I nodded.
At that…
(CG get!°˖✧◝(⁰▿⁰)◜✧˖°)
Heisuke-kun seemed completely at ease as he used my lap as a pillow.
Chizuru Yukimura: "...Heisuke-kun, is your uniform getting wrinkled?"
Heisuke Toudou: "Don’t worry about that! It's so comfortable to sleep like this!!"
Chizuru Yukimura: "Come on..."
Heisuke Toudou: "Ah. But I wonder if your skirt will get messed up..."
Chizuru Yukimura: "It’s fine."
Heisuke-kun's sleep was much more important than something like that. It's just that, if people saw us like this here, it'd be incredibly embarrassing…
Heisuke Toudou: "Anyway, please wake me up in about an hour...”
Chizuru Yukimura: "Sure. I got it."
Heisuke Toudou: "Still… It's been so long since we did this sort of thing. I’m feeling really nostalgic."
Chizuru Yukimura: "It's been about 10 years since you last used my lap as a pillow, huh? You've always been running around, full of energy since then. When I first moved in, you reached out to me..."
"......"
He was always energetic. Even if he ran around every day with all his might, he was always smiling. Seeing him be so tired was really unusual.
Chizuru Yukimura: "Hey, Heisuke-kun..."
[Why are you working so hard?] or [Please don’t overdo it.]
Chizuru Yukimura: “...I know it's the day before the test, but why are you working so hard?”
Heisuke Toudou: "......" He blinked slowly, and answered in a soft voice, "...I don’t want the penalties, no matter what. Especially for club activities. Practicing before and after school is really hard, but unbelievably fun at the same time. I... Up until now, there hasn’t been anything I’ve been more absorbed in than kendo. That's how fun it is for me.”
Chizuru Yukimura: “You really love kendo, huh?”
Heisuke Toudou: “Yeah. We’re really close to the inter-school tournament. I really don’t want to be forced to take a break right now.”
Chizuru Yukimura: “I see...”
Heisuke-kun had always been single-minded when it comes to the things he loved. He loved kendo more than anything he'd gotten into before. So it’s only natural that he was trying his hardest at it.
Chizuru Yukimura: “...Heisuke-kun, take a little break now. But... after you wake up later, try your best.”
Heisuke Toudou: “Yeah, leave it to me...!”
With a peaceful smile, he closed his eyes.
Chizuru Yukimura: "Yeah, I'm rooting for you!"
Heisuke Toudou: "......" With a slow, deep breath, he fell asleep. As he did, I watched his sleeping face. I was glad to catch a glimpse of him looking so unguarded.
Chizuru Yukimura: “You must really love kendo, huh? Sleep well, Heisuke-kun..."
I hoped that this little break would clear away some of his exhaustion. Thinking that, I looked away and began writing in my textbook.
Heisuke Toudou: “Aaah...! I slept great!!”
When I woke him up at the time we promised, Heisuke-kun had a great big stretch.
Heisuke Toudou: "Thanks, Chizuru! I feel like that really cleared up my head!"
Chizuru Yukimura: "Really? That's good then..."
Heisuke Toudou: “Well, I’m gonna be studying with all my might from now on. I’ll work hard until the sun goes down. After that, we'll head home together... Can you wait until then?”
Chizuru Yukimura: “Yeah, of course.”
Heisuke Toudou: “Alright!! I’m getting more and more fired up!!”
Chizuru Yukimura: “Hehe...”
If just doing this much made him so happy, I'd wait for him no matter how long it took. Heisuke-kun leaned forward in his chair, studying frantically. I borrowed an empty desk, and resumed studying beside him.
__
The day of the test had finally arrived.
It was time for the real thing at last. I studied as much as I possibly could, but still felt a bit anxious...
The tests had finally started.
Chizuru Yukimura: "Seeing Heisuke-kun yesterday gave me a lot more motivation..."
‘I'll power through today's test as well!’
[Minigame Pass]
Chizuru Yukimura: "I might've actually aced that...?!"
I was able to answer the questions pretty smoothly. So much so that I worried whether I'd overlooked an easy question somewhere…
Chizuru Yukimura: "I wonder how Heisuke-kun did...?"
Right then, I was far more worried about his results than my own.
Then, several days later…
Chizuru Yukimura: "Oh!"
My name didn't appear on the list of people to receive penalties.
Chizuru Yukimura: "What a relief... How did Heisuke-kun do?"
I couldn't take my mind off of his results. I let out a sigh and headed for the sophomores' classrooms to go check on that.
Then, just as I was going to climb the stairs, Heisuke-kun popped up out of nowhere.
Heisuke Toudou: "Oh, Chizuru! How'd it go?!"
Chizuru Yukimura: "Heisuke-kun, how'd it go?!"
Both: "......."
Chizuru Yukimura: "Hehe."
It seemed that we both came to ask the other about their results. We smiled at the irony as I started to speak.
Chizuru Yukimura: "Mine went well... How about yours?"
Heisuke Toudou: "Same here! Mine went well too! I sailed through them without a hitch!"
Chizuru Yukimura: "That's wonderful...!"
Heisuke Toudou: "I wanted to tell you this since the start: Thanks, Chizuru. It's definitely thanks to you that I managed to dodge the penalties somehow! With how much I studied my butt off, I'll game to my heart's content from now on!"
Chizuru Yukimura: "......Huh? What about your club activities...?"
Heisuke Toudou: "I'll do my best on those as well! I love kendo after all!"
Chizuru Yukimura: "Y-Yeah..."
Heisuke Toudou: "But I also love gaming! I toiled away studying for the sake of my club activities. I gotta let loose!!"
Chizuru Yukimura: "......"
Heisuke Toudou: "......"
Chizuru Yukimura: "Well. There's no helping it."
Heisuke Toudou: "Heheh..."
He laughed sheepishly. He'd worked so hard up till today and he was so happy now. I couldn't find it in myself to be angry at him any more.
Heisuke Toudou: "Hey, so, if you don't have any plans for now, d'you wanna head home with me today?"
Chizuru Yukimura: "Yeah. But you don't have to..."
Heisuke Toudou: "'’Kay, let's stop by somewhere on the way back. Consider it my thanks for lending me your lap as a pillow the other day. My treat."
Chizuru Yukimura: "I-I shouldn't have..."
Heisuke Toudou: "You didn't do anything wrong! I'm saying you should take this as me thanking you!"
Chizuru Yukimura: "O-Okay..."
I nodded at him, and he broke out into a delighted grin.
Heisuke Toudou: "Right, I'll go meet you at your classroom after classes finish, then!"
I saw him off as he left the way he came, his footsteps clattering as he ran down the hallway…
Chizuru Yukimura: "I'm so glad..." I let out another sigh of relief.

At last, the tests were over, and the results had been announced…The tension gradually seeped out of the school, and everything slowly went back to normal.
After school, after the test results were announced…I was on my way out of the school building to return home when…
Isami Kondou: “……”
Chizuru Yukimura: “Just now…was that Kondou-sensei?”
Kondou-sensei went around to the back of the school. When I saw that, I paused. ‘There isn’t anything over there, so where is he going…?’ I thought it was kind of mysterious. And so, egged on by my curiosity, I jogged after Kondou-sensei. I went further behind the school… I’d never set foot back here before. After reaching his destination, Kondou-sensei suddenly stopped.
Isami Kondou: “……”
‘What is this place…?’ Towering in front of me was an old gate, and my eyes widened. ‘To think there was such a place here, right on academy campus…’
Isami Kondou: “……”
Chizuru Yukimura: “Um…”
Isami Kondou: “Hm… Yukimura-kun? Why are you here?”
Chizuru Yukimura: “I’m sorry. I saw you heading this way, and curiosity got the better of me…”
Isami Kondou: “Ahh, so that’s what it was.”
Kondou-sensei smiled in understanding, and turned his gaze back towards the gate. The old wooden door was shut tightly, looking like it hadn’t been opened in a long time. It had been two months since I began studying at Hakuo Academy, but I never knew such a place existed until now.
Chizuru Yukimura: “Um, Kondou-sensei. What is this place…?”
Isami Kondou: “‘The Shieikan.’”
Chizuru Yukimura: "Huh?”
Isami Kondou: “…That’s what it was called, at least. There used to be a swordplay dojo here by that name.”
Chizuru Yukimura: “Used to be?”
Isami Kondou: “Yes. As you can see, it’s closed now. There are no students here; there’s no one at all. But the teachings of that dojo are certainly still being passed down… That’s what I believe.”
There was a look in his eyes; almost as if he were lost in a different time, far from the present. I got the feeling that this must’ve been a very important place to Kondou-sensei.
Isami Kondou: “I always come here whenever I want to return to my roots…This place, the Shieikan, is Hakuo Academy’s starting point.”
Kondou-sensei put his hand on the place where I expected the sign must have once hung, and his eyes shut, lost in nostalgia.
…'Shieikan.’ As if to confirm the word, I mouthed it to myself. That name… I felt as if I’d heard it before…
Chizuru Yukimura: ”……“
Looking at me as I thought about it, Kondou-sensei smiled and kept talking.
Isami Kondou: “Yukimura-kun, it looks like the sun is about to set. Don’t you think it’s time for you to head home?”
Chizuru Yukimura: “Oh, right. That’s true. It’s already so late…”
Isami Kondou: “By the way, I heard from Toshi. It looks like you got some magnificent test results this time around.”
Chizuru Yukimura: “Hijikata-sensei said that?”
Isami Kondou: “Yes, you’re the most talented woman in the history of Hakuo Academy! It truly is magnificent!”
Chizuru Yukimura: “…Thank you very much.”
There was no hint of lies or flattery in Kondou-sensei’s cheerful words… I remembered how he delivered them while walking away, and I felt a little embarrassed.
Isami Kondou: “A student has a duty to study, so I want you to continue trying your hardest! But of course, it’s not just your studies. If you also have fun living your everyday life at Hakuo Academy... As this school’s principal, I’d be very happy!”
Chizuru Yukimura: “Yes!”
Returning his nod as he smiled, I looked back at ‘Shieikan’ only once. He had called it the ‘starting point’ for the school. I wonder what that meant…? Questions along those lines came to mind, and I couldn’t help but wonder at such a mystery…
Anyway, I would do my best from here forward. I smiled, in high spirits.
