You Remain Worldly
For you are still carnal (fleshly), for where there is among you jealousy (to boil, zealous/boiling rivalry) and contentious strife, are you not fleshly and are you not walking full circle according to man? — 1 Corinthians 3:3 | Literal Emphasis Translation (LET) The Literal Emphasis Bible is in the public domain. “What does 1 Corinthians 3:16 mean?” By Bibleref.com:
“Verse Commentary: This verse creates the third metaphors that Paul uses to describe the local church in Corinth. First, he compared them to a field being planted and watered by himself and Apollos as God's workers (1 Corinthians 3:5–9). Then, he compared their community of Christians to a building being constructed on top of the foundation of Jesus Christ by other teachers and leaders (1 Corinthians 3:10–15).
Now Paul compares them to the temple of God. The word for "you" here is plural, not singular. He is asking his readers, as the local church in Corinth, if they understand that they together are God's temple and that God's Spirit lives in them.
This would likely have been an unusual idea to those living in this area. Those who had seen it would likely have pictured the massive, sprawling Jewish temple in Jerusalem, truly an impressive structure. By comparison, the church in Corinth likely had no building of their own, meeting instead in smaller groups in the homes of various members. How could they possibly be God's temple?
Paul's answer is to the point: God's Spirit lives in them (1 Corinthians 2:12; 6:19). To be clear, God's Spirit lives in each believer individually, but Paul shows here that in this way the Holy Spirit occupies the collected believers known as the church. Thus, they become the temple of God, even without a physical structure to meet in. As Christians often say, "the church" is the people, not the building.”
Amen! 🙏🕊️🙌

"THAT CONTAINER IS LYING ABOUT ITS CONTENTS"
Matthew 7:15, “Be on your guard against false prophets; they come to you LOOKING LIKE SHEEP on the OUTSIDE, but on the INSIDE they are really like wild WOLVES.” (GNT) My two favorite seasons are Winter and Fall! Winter, because I love Christmas, snow, carols, decorations and the like. And Fall, because I love the colors, Thanksgiving, the start of the scent of fireplaces, but most of all,…

Live Up to Your New Identities in Christ
Because you are still in the flesh: for when there is envy and division among you, are you not still walking after the way of the flesh, even as natural men? — 1 Corinthians 3:3 | Bible in Basic English (BBE) The Bible in Basic English is in the public domain Cross References: Romans 13:13; 1 Corinthians 1:10; 1 Corinthians 3:4; 1 Corinthians 11:18; 2 Corinthians 12:20

1 Corinthians 3
Tumblr media
So I ready the above passage tonight and there was a lot in there. The bullet points were
The church of Corinth was still behaving in a spiritually immature way
That those used by God do not grow faith or lay the foundation of faith/ to God be all the Glory
That it is only through Gods grace that we can even help God with His work of faith
That what we build up within ourselves spiritual upon the foundation of Christ will be tested with trials and strife transforming us more into His likeness
Because we are Gods temple we must think ourselves too wise/ humility is important.
Everything in life belongs to Christ and therefore God.
So I was dwelling on why did Paul write this section of HIs letter the way he did. Why tackle these points? Previously he had taught on who the Holy Spirit was and how set apart from the worlds logic we are, then moves into how the church isn't ready for more in-depth spiritual teaching because they were still missing the basis of their faith, Christ.
So what are we building within ourselves spiritually?
How are we investing into our spiritual and physical temple? Are we physically helping God in our daily lives however that may be he's called us to do? Are we diving into Gods word to feed our spiritual needs? Are we growing in our knowledge of God and consuming more hearty spiritual food?
"For we are God's fellow worker (helper) You are Gods field, Gods building" (vs 9)
This section of Paul's letter was all about giving the glory of Gods work back to God, humbly understanding our standing with Him, and obediently acting upon His grace for Him. Though those points we make our temple foundation stronger, and our mind grows to be more like His able then to help Him in His work of growing others faith in Himself. (Through our obedient lives)
"But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen." (2 Peter 3:18)

1 Corinthians 15:58 (ESV) "Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain."
1 Corinthians 15:50-58 (NIV). “I declare to you, brothers and sisters, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed— in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality. When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.” “Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?” The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain."
Colossians 3:23-24 (AMPC). "Whatever may be your task, work at it heartily (from the soul), as [something done] for the Lord and not for men, Knowing [with all certainty] that it is from the Lord [and not from men] that you will receive the inheritance which is your [real] reward. [The One Whom] you are actually serving [is] the Lord Christ (the Messiah)."
Our labor in the Lord is never in vain. God sees everything that we do and we will be rewarded for it. When we work, we work for Jesus, not people. We can know 'with all certainty' that our inheritance, our real reward comes from Heaven. From God. Friend, life might be tough for you right now. Whatever situation you are in might seem hopeless, but Jesus is right there with you. He walks with you every day, in whatever you are doing. You are not alone. You can do all things through Christ, Who gives you strength (Phil 4:13). Amen!🙏🕊🙌

1 Corinthians 3:10-11 (CEV) - God treated me with undeserved grace and let me become an expert builder. I laid a foundation on which others have built. But we must each be careful how we build, because Christ is the only foundation.

Christ is King. Adam was also king, but he failed to exercise dominion over the serpent. Jesus has conquered the serpent, and all authority on Heaven and on Earth has been given to Him. He is enthroned at the right hand of the Father and will reign until His last enemy, death, is subdued.

3 But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged by you or by any human court. In fact, I do not even judge myself. 4 For I am not aware of anything against myself, but I am not thereby acquitted. It is the Lord who judges me.
