The Canonicity of the Digimon Wonderswan Games
Tumblr media
I am right now a bit back into my old Digimon hyperfixation I am afraid. So let me nerd out a bit more about it, or in this case rant about another thing.
See, I am in a bit of a weird position in regards of this fandom. I am from Germany, where we got the dub names and stuff, but the Japanese cut of the anime. But also, I switched to watching the sub already by the time Digimon Tamers was starting to air in Japan, and had fairly easy access to most of the Japanese media for the franchise through the magic of the internet.
As such I grew up with the Japanese stuff for Digimon in the most part. Including the Wonderswan games, that are kinda legendary in the west. And man, let me tell you: I love those games. They are not really good games, I would argue. Like the game mechanics are just not very polished, and like in a lot of Japanese games at the time you needed to grind quite a lot. But I loved the story and the way it was portrayed. And I adore the game version of Ryou. He is my cute baby boy, who needs a serious hug.
However... Something that I have already been annoyed with was the fact that a lot of western fandom has always seen these games as canon. And I kinda get why - at least in regards to Adventure/02 - given that Ryou gets referenced in the canon a lot. It is canon that Ryou exists in this universe, as well as Millenniumon. And it is canon that Ken and Ryou travelled through the digital world. However... The game as it is, is in fact not canon and never was meant to be. This is because games very much contradict several aspects of the primary canon (the show). Let us go through those things, okay?
Anode/Cathode Tamer
This game takes place on New Years Eve 1999, so about 4 (or really 5) months after Digimon Adventure. Millenniumon, a Digimon that has been formed when the data of the defeated Machinedramon fused with a Chimeramon, messed up the digital world and brought back the villains the Chosen Children had already defeated. Being brought back, they kidnap the Chosen children. Agumon turns to a human child - Ryou Akiyama - as he needs a human to evolve. So, Ryou on his own has to fight through the villains of Digimon Adventure to free the chosen children. He is not a Chosen Child himself, though, being made to borrow Taichi's Digivice.
Now, this game is clearly not canon - the villains being brought back is never mentioned again, and it is explicitly said that spring 2000 was the first time that the Chosen Children returned back to the Digital World after their original adventure.
Other than that... I kinda love how vile the villains are in this game. I really adore it. But yeah, definitely not canon.
Tag Tamers
Tag Tamers starts during the events of the second movie. Diaboromon is defeated and just as this happens, Ryou and Ken get contacted by V-mon and Piccolomon. Millenniumon is back, and it is up to Ryou to defeat it. This time he has to partner up with V-mon, who is already destined to be Daisuke's partner. So Ryou and Ken go visit the digital world together - only to find out, that it was all a trap set up by Millenniumon to lure Ryou back.
This game at once is the one most directly referenced in the Show (with Ken's flashback to getting infected with the Dark Spore) and also the more most directly contradicted by the show. Because while the game takes place in March 2000, the series explicitly names the time of Ken and hence Ryou travelling to the digital world as August 2000, exactly a year post-Adventure. More interestingly we do not see any partner with Ryou in the flashback either, and it is pretty clear that if V-mon ever met Ken or Ryou before, he does most certainly not remember.
It should also be noted that in this game Ken and Ryou both get D-3 Digivices, while in the primary canon Ken obviously received a normal Digivice at this point, that only later turned into the D-3 at the Dark Ocean.
D-1 Tamers
D-1 Tamers takes place not too long after Tag Tamers. While watching over Ken, who is sick from the Dark Spore, Ryou finds an online quiz about Digimon and upon answering it gets once more summoned to the Digital World. Here, he is made to participate in the D-1 Tournament against other Children and their Digimon partners, including both characters from the anime and some original characters. However, soon enough it turns out, that the tournament was just something created by the Holy Beasts to train Ryou up to once more fight against Millenniumon.
Basically, the same from before applies. The kids in this game all have D-3 Digivices, that did not yet exist in this universe. Nowhere in canon is it ever mentioned that Taichi and Co. have travelled back to the Digital World at this point - and mind you, the entire thing with the Holy Beasts also does not make a whole lot of sense considering the canon of the show (with the Holy Beasts just being brought back).
As someone who tends to latch onto minor characters very easily, I loved the original characters in this game, even though they have very few lines.
Mind you, if you have been in Digimon fandom spaces for a longer time, you might have come across the picture underneath before and thought to yourself: "Oh, this looks official." However... It is actually Fanart. To be exact this picture seems to originate with a fan-book on the games called Digimon Crusader. (I have been trying to get my hands on that one before. But I have only seen it two times up for auction and never could get manage to set up a proxy in time - as the sellers were never shipping to Europe.)
Tumblr media
This is the book by the way:
Tumblr media
Brave Tamer
Lastly there is Brave Tamer, a game that is rather hard to describe, because it involves a ton of time travel. Hurray, because this plot was not already convoluted enough. lol
Basically, it starts with Ryou at the very beginning of the Digital World, meeting Monodramon and then timehopping a whole lot to help both the Chosen Children and Tamers (who also show up here, because the game released by the time Tamers was out), and also get some closure. Please note, at this point in time the digital world has fucked up Ryou's mental health for good. lol
The game ends with Monodramon forcing a fusion between himself and Millenniumon, defeating the villain like this and leaving Ryou out of time with a single Digitama.
The plot of this game, due to the time travel, is a whole mess. I adore the game for the worldbuilding it does for the Adventure digital world, even though this, too, is doubtful in terms of canonicity. There is no real harm to take this as canon for the Adventure-world, though obviously the show itself contradicts this in terms of canon for the Tamers-world.
The crossover stuff between Tamers and Adventure verse is also very confusing to say the least. But yeah, given that none of the interactions here ever get referenced anywhere: This is also very certainly not canon. (Also, for some reason Ryou aged 2 years between D-1 Tamers and Brave Tamer, even though Brave Tamer starts up very shortly after D-1 Tamers ends.)
So, what is canon?
All of this might leave you wondering: What is canon for Ryou? Well, it is kinda hard to say. What we can assume is something like this:
In the universe of Digimon Adventure there is or was a boy named Akiyama Ryou. We do not know a whole lot about him, but based on his design he was probably 10 or 11 years old in August of 2000. When Ken first got called into the Digital World, he met Ryou there, and the two of them defeated Millenniumon, getting Ken infected with the Dark Spore. We do not know what happened to Ryou after this, but it seems unlikely that he and Ken stayed in contact, given Ken never brings him up. It is not impossible that he has died, though this is never confirmed, or contradicted by the canon.
In the universe of Digimon Tamers, there also exists a boy named Akiyama Ryou. Other than the boy from the games, he is not from Tokyo, but from a fishing village near Kitakyushu. We do not know whether he has a mother, but he has a father, as well as an uncle who lives in Tokyo. Whenever Ryou participated in the Digimon tournaments, he stayed with his uncle, apparently. In December 2000, Ryou meets Cyberdramon in Tokyo, and realized that Cyberdramon cannot stay in the real world because it is too aggressive. So he decides to travel to the Digital World together with it. Now, technically you can argue whether Cyberdramon is the Digimon resulting from the fusion of Monodramon and Millenniumon, but Ryou is very much a different character with a different backstory.
(And mind you: No, that US Comic that marries the Digimon Tamers story with some of the game story, is very much not canon, like all US-only material.)

Why I think Ryo is the Ken of Survive.
Obviously, all the Survive kids are meant to reflect one of the 8 original Adventure kids. However, the characters aren't completely one to one, as each of the characters are in fact, unique characters in their own right. (Most evident I think is in the fact I'd assign basically every character except for Miyuki a different crest from their adventure counterpart). But they do echo the basic archetype of the role each adventure character played in the series. For the most part this is self explanatory, some more than others.
Takuma is Taichi Minoru is Koshiro (Less obvious but that's a separate point) Aoi is Sora Shuuji is Joe Saki is Mimi Kaito is Yamato Miu is Takeru Miyuki is Hikari
However, Survive has 10 important human/digimon partnerships.
The sole adult of the group, the professor, even bares some resemblance to a rather important "old man" of adventure, Gennai. An old man who knows a lot of their situation, was involved in the "inciting incident" looks after the kids to a certain extent, but is rather unreliable and has amnesia regarding some very important things he should know. Of course original Gennai isn't even really human, and therefore doesn't have a digimon partner, (Jijimon also takes on some Gennai traits imo) but Akiharu I would still say parallels Gennai.
However, Ryo doesn't match any of the original adventure cast. But I think it is fair to say he resembles Ken. Ryo has a worm digimon. Ryo has a family member whose death deeply affected him. Ryo is grumpy and aggressive, while hiding a secretly gentler and hurting side. Ryo is self-destructive, at the cost of his partner.
Ryo can't be Adventure Ken really, because Adventure Ken doesn't really exist. But Ken isn't exactly an 02 kid in the way Daisuke, Iori and Miyako are. A reoccurring theme in 02 is the difference in outlook between the Adventure kids, the Adventure and 02 kids, and the 02 exclusive kids. And so Ken is in no way one of the original Adventure kids, but there is something to be said of the fact that his (executive meddling hellscape) backstory reflects experiences of Takeru, Hikari, more than it does the other 02 original kids. He even has an associated crest. In many ways, Ken is a retroactive Adventure character, without actually being an Adventure character. Ken in the context of digimon Adventure 02 is very much so an example if a character like Takeru had been driven to the darkness, who then had to be rehabilitated by a set of characters with an outside perspective. Really that is what all of 02s Jogresses is really, the new kids helping the more experienced kids deal with their unprocessed issues. Miyako helps Hikari look out for herself, Iori helps Takeru stop lashing out in anger from keeping his emotions hidden, and Daisuke helps Ken see value in his own continued existence.
Which is why I think Ryo is a homage to Ken. It's not the "Adventure Ken" that theoretically exists, the little boy wondering around the digital world with Wonderswan Ryo or whatever did or did not happen in that unreliable backstory, but 02 Ken, the Ken after the trauma, who needs SOMEONE to connect with him to help save him. He's the sole character who is taken from 02 era rather than the first Adventure era. And 02's themes are in this character. Ryo dies in part due to hopelessness and depression. He is unsavable the first playthrough. Unsavable in the initial adventure context. The original context where the focus is on survival and connection with your own digimon. Wormmon couldn't Save Ken alone. just as Kunemon couldn't. Both Wormmon and Kunemon die in desperate attempts to try and save their partners (really from themselves). But Ryo is saved from death when you can manage to become friends with him. When you connect with him, not unlike how Daisuke managed to save Ken. And from there, Ryo manages to save other people (Shuuji) from falling into that same despair, not unlike how Ken tried to reach out to the dark spore kids. It's noteworthy that of the 3 initial endings, the moral route is the closest to the truthful route, but aside from Ryo and Shuuji has one key difference. It ends like the original Adventure did, the kids and their partners separating, while the truthful route has the kids and their partners living together, invoking the 02 ending. While the Harmony and Wrathful routes do also bear a resemblance to 02's ending, just relatively less optimistically, Harmony and Wrathful routes involve the failings of personal connections. The failure to understand each other. Ultimately the truthful route resolves peacefully, even the big bad reconciling with his sister, no longer feeling the need to lash out at others. Ryo is the factor that takes this adventure and adds a bit of 02 to it, 02 in this context being the importance of connection. 02 being what makes the happy ending.
It's not a 1 to 1, after all, all of the characters are different from their adventure counterpart, and take pieces from one another. For example, its Minoru that has the parental divorce backstory, and Miyuki is a protective older sister to the professor, not a younger sister to Takuma, and the Professor is the most curious about the digital world's nature, and is the one with the digimon partner Gabumon. Saki is the one hesitating the most about going home at all rather than being the one to bring it up the most. I'd say Ryo also has elements of Joe in his fear of his partner and for being an unreliable older kid, and Shuuji has elements of Ken in his cruelty of Lopmon, and insistence on authority and desire to measure up against an older brother with whom he has a flawed relationship. Really none of these kids match up one to one with the adventure kids, and that's great, but I think it is fair to say that as far as analogies go, Ryo does draw from Ken.
02 is an extension of Adventure, and despite their differences in plot, theme and character arcs, no discussion of Adventure will ever be truly complete without discussing certain elements of 02 in relation to that, particularly 02s epilogue and what it means thematically. Ryo is a reflection of Ken, and how his story and needs were a reflection of the themes of 02, and how those themes were built off of the themes of Adventure. How Ken needed something that was not as prevalent in Adventure. Naturally, I think the "truthful" story of survive, would have to be a route that includes elements of 02 no matter how faithful it is to other Adventure themes otherwise.

If we do get a Digimon next gen Anime that serves as a crossover between most (if not all) of the previous Digimon anime, I want there to be a running gag where any attempts to reveal what Miyako does for a living are interrupted.
Ryo: So Ken, is Miyako a fulltime housewife, or is she just on maternity leave?
Ken: She's on maternity leave.
Ryo: so what does so do when she's not on maternity leave?
Ken: oh she-
(cue Etemon appearing out of nowhere and abducting Ken)
Wakana (Kouichi's daughter): so Kumiko, what do your parents do for a living?
Kumiko (Ken and Miyako's daughter): Well, my dad's a detective, and my mom-
Iori (opening the door open in an urgent manner): Kumiko, your dad just got abducted by Etemon!
Sayuri Daimon: so, Miyako, what do you do for a living?
Miyako: Oh, I-
(cue a beep on Masaru's communicator thing)
Masaru: yes?
Megumi (through the communicator): Ken Ichijouji has been abducted by Etemon.

One of my favorite headcanons remains that Ryo and Daisuke are cousins. Also, like Ryo just doesn't remember Daisuke. Ryo's also like a year or two older than him.
Just the chaotic potential. Like during a crossover and Daisuke seems to loathe Ryo, and everyone assumes it's cause he's jealous. Meanwhile, Daisuke is just side eyeing his cousin, who had the audacity to dimension hop, leaving his extended family behind.

So i designed an older Ryo because i like him.
Since this is one of the fragments of a person who once was called Akiyama Ryo (more about this soon, i promise you, but for now have this "prologue" here.), this Ryo returned to the Advverse a year after 02 events, had lived in a small city and lost contact with Ken alas. But he got a "digimon partner" after all these years.
He and Ken might one day meet again.

I know there’s been a lot of DigiAdvs fan-events going on lately. I usually can’t participate in most events for varying reasons including personal ones, but I’m glad to share my past works in the form of this index.
ALL were created out of Positivity and respect for this series.
[I'm trying to keep this out of less commonly-used tags; but I do use some of {these} for organizing on my blog!] (Please note ALL tags/etc on fic[s] before reading / Interacting)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Title: REPEAT?_ Rating: Mature (one fade-to-black scenario) {Taichi & Koushiro are heavily implied as having a sexual relationship} (The dynamic is more like Queer-platonic with Aro-spec & A-spec leaning) Head-canon{s}: Demi-romantic Pan-sexual Koushiro; (+ Queer, uses various labels) Pan-romantic Demi-sexual Taichi (+ Queer; uses Gay & various label) Ship{s}: KouTai {Koushiro x Taichi} (Main Focus) A-spec!YamaSora {Yamato x Sora} is implied for a few very fleeting, brief moments {along with a single ambiguous timeline one-shot} + Queer!Jou x Bi & Queer!Mimi is implied super briefly in spinoff one-shot. + YamaSora{Jou}/Mi as a Poly-ship can be read into spin-offs too where wanted. + 02 Chosen having minimal appearances in spin-offs (no ships yet.) (Daisuke is timeline-wise still crushing hard on Hikari and bouncing around potential relationship dynamics w/others & O.C.s but it’s not referenced here.) Summary:
Taichi wasn't sure what he was expecting. …He just knew it wasn't… this…
(Please see inside for ALL Notes!)
Title: The Past World Rating: PG-13 (will not go higher) Notes: Implications about self-loathing (both Taichi & Koushiro) & Koushiro's previous self-depreciation {Novels-implied} in general Royalty!A.U.; however things may not be as they appear… “"Dark”"!Chosen Children A.U. appears in some parts (mainly in flash-back form, until…). Characters: Taichi, Koushiro, Adventure Chosen team, 02 Chosen Ship{s}: (Same as "Infalliable" listed below can be read in) + KouTai {Koushiro x Taichi} focus. Ken+Miya has a scene where they're both present, but not completely in a relationship yet; as friendly. YamaSora is implied for a few very fleeting, brief moments + Ken x Daisuke is implied for a total of one (flash-back) A.U. scene, but will come to have a heavy presence in future sequels to this A.U. Summary:
"-- About that, you'd be better off asking your new advisor," "H-huh?-" When suddenly -- -- as if out of nowhere -- -- from a short distance -- a shy gaze peers up at him
… pure black eyes.
Title: Possession Rating: PG-13 / R (Violence implied) Notes: early Epilogue era / Taichi and Koushiro are adults, 30-35+ - can be conidered a spin-off timeline / part of REPEAT?_ - partly based on general head-canons, partly based on my old as heck Digi-O.C. fic and the head-canons I / Young me had for its own future / epilogue era - Leans more post-02, {not really Tri} canon compliant overall (thus many things happen differently between these two things - I hadn’t seen Tri yet before initially developing this “time-line”) - (still) very vaguely based on a few new ideas / Thoughts gained from Tri - KouTai + Government Corruption A.U.??? + Ambassador!Taichi (Koushiro hasn't quite reached the "Digital World" Researcher position Yet) {who is trying to fight against said Corruption, but...} Summary: "We’re… being targeted," "but not just by---"
"One, a certain one, among them" "had the power to open the gate" "–and immediately close it again"
Title: Dress Rating: G Character{s}: brief references (in thought) to Sora; Mimi; Izumi family + Yoshie Izumi (Yes, I know others like “Kae” for her. She’s “Yoshie” here because I liked that name and it’s what I used in my old fic-stuff because that’s how I knew Mrs. Izumi as for years. No, I’m not changing it. {Its also how I differentiate between canon and spin-off timelines with Izumis}) Ship{s}: KouTai {Koushiro x Taichi} (Implied briefly at end in Thought) Notes: Discussion of Koushiro and Gender Identity. Summary:
Koushiro remembers only feeling perturbed by such “clothes”.
Title: Candles Rating: r18 Implied ? (Pre?-Fade-to-Black) or Mature / technically Work-safe Notes: some very personal Specific Headcanons are heavily implied technically part of REPEAT?_Verse, ( ficverse version here ); - it can be read as a standalone fic - it can be read as an AU and/or spinoff of the main REPEATVerse; - or as its own standalone AU/spinoff Verses: Post-Advs (can also be post-Tri/Kizuna); pre-Epilogue [+pre-’having’ Kids]; Taichi has graduated a while ago by now. Taichi has been involved with his Ambassador career for a while, but it’s still getting off the ground too. (And it’s . Stressful) +Taichi and Koushiro are heavily implied to be living together already here. Summary:
Taichi is having … a hard time.
Featured Head-canon: Jew!Taichi (+Koushiro in the process of converting/joining) Implied (A.K.A : Taichi is both mixed J.P.N and Jew)
Title: Ten Rating: PG-13 (Psuedo not-really-character-death implied) Character{s}: Koushiro Izumi & Daisuke Motomiya {Friendship} Ship{s} KouTai {Koushiro x Taichi} heavily Implied Summary:
“…Can you turn around and— - it’s April 2004. (..Or is it April 2003? Spring 2003?) - at the end of Spring 2003, something else astonishing occurred: Daisuke’s sister Jun, the Inoue sisters, & Shuu Kido all became Chosen at once. - an incident, (occured, and then) —
“I’ll help, so we, you, can get out of here !!—”
“They {Won’t come}”
…TAICHI-SENPAI’s GOGGLES ( … Are probably absolutely unfitting for Koushiro Izumi, but…. ) Trigger warning for above (avoid looking for Spoiler): (Psuedo not-really-character-death implied)
Featured Head-canon: Jew!Taichi (+Koushiro in the process of converting/joining) Implied (A.K.A : Taichi is both mixed J.P.N and Jew)
Title: Dreams Rating: r-18 Implied ? (Pre?-Fade-to-Black) (Also S.F.W segments from younger days referenced) {It's a bit Ambiguous. You Might Get An Idea TM} Summary:
Sometimes, Koushiro dreams. (Of Brown hair, Brown eyes.)
This can serve as a prequel spinoff to my other Koushiro-centric series, "REPEAT?"_-verse or be read as a standalone.
Title: (Dirty) Computer Summary:
"Do you like computers?" Tentomon had asked Koushiro, once.
“You just like working with machines more ‘THAN PEOPLE’, don’t you?!” … But why does it MATTER if Koushiro – DID —
A character study and analysis on Koushiro Izumi's Canon personality, (with a touch of heavily implied headcanons), with brief references to Koushiro's notable relationships, Family, and those Interests. "It's OK for you to be obsessed with computers!" - Mr. Masami Izumi, Adventure Episode #38 (There are some light references to the novel's given backstory details for Koushiro, including Koushiro's mindset there.)
Title: Koushiro Izumi Is Touched By Death Rating: PG Notes: Implications about Death & Grief (for passed loved ones), + the mourning/grieving process in general Characters: Koushiro & Daisuke {Friendship} Ship{s}: (Implied) KouTai {Koushiro x Taichi} can be read into the background, but is not actively discussed / mentioned Summary:
In which Koushiro Izumi Is Traumatized, Has Always BEEN Traumatized, And Daisuke Motomiya {NOTICES}.
Takes place shortly before "the summer of" a somewhere between 2003~2005. (02 takes place in April~December 2002, Tri takes place in 2005 June~December.) {Tri knowledge is not required to read, but may be helpful to understand continuity.}
Title: Infalliable Rating: PG Notes: Implications about self-loathing & Koushiro’s previous self-depreciation {Novels-implied} in general Characters: Koushiro & Daisuke Ship{s}: (Implied) KouTai {Koushiro x Taichi} can be read into the background, but is not actively discussed / mentioned; Daisuke x (Girl)!O.C. (“Hikaru”); in background; (My O.C. does not appear much within the context of the fic, but the dialogue refers to an event they were involved in immediately previously, with a Koushiro-focus and Daisuke-relevant aftermath.) Daisuke x O.C. aren’t “together” yet; it is developing relationship. Ken x Daisuke x O.C. may be Implied in spin-off fic{s}; KenxMiya may be implied in semi-canon-compliant 'verses, with former Ken x Daisuke heavily implied / mutually requited-yet-unrequited (as Daisuke is pursuing a direct relationship with someone else for a while, and Ken does not pursue a relationship with Daisuke yet) / hinted. Poly-ships may be included in any future spin-off, but none are referenced in this specific one (yet). Summary:
Daisuke stares moodily ahead. Koushiro does the same, except Daisuke genuinely doesn’t know - cannot even tell - if Koushiro’s doing it “moodily” or not, because Koushiro’s blank staring is that unreadable. They sit, Daisuke next to Koushiro, for a few long, long moments. And then – Koushiro… opens his mouth – “I’m not infalliable.” Daisuke’s eyebrows furrow, even if he can’t look at Koushiro in this exact moment –
“Unshakeable? Indestructible–” Daisuke’s head hurts. “I admit there was a time when I thought, …” “NO!! That’s not true!!”
“When you asked me, 'What about YOU, Daisuke-kun’ – the one who gave me that push – that was you.”
A “missing scene” of Daisuke & Koushiro friendship from my other Adventures & 02 Chosen fic; “The Past World” You do not have to read that one to appreciate this “missing” moment, as its mainly friendship. There is a slight hint of Daisuke/Original (“Girl”) Character OC, but its more lightly implied; (Epilogue semi-canon compliant) There are also background relationships like Taichi/Koushiro, the slightest hint of background Ken/Daisuke, others hinted.
Trigger warning: for above (avoid looking for Spoiler):
Koushiro is heavily implied as once having considered suicide (pre-series). (No longer actively)
Title: Words Rating: PG Notes: Implications about self-loathing & Koushiro’s previous self-depreciation {Novels-implied} in general; with a focus on self-acceptance + Koushiro’s heavy use of formal speech and communication in the J.P.N version is referenced frequently. Tri is referenced / implied-as-AUs or for semi-canon compliancy (light spoilers for Kokuhaku; but not majorly referenced; just a quote) {plus a gif of a small moment involving Taichi + Koushiro} [also one more small conversation moment between Taichi and Meiko] (a scene from the first episode of the 2020 Reboot is referenced) - it can be read as a standalone fic - it can be read as an AU and/or spinoff of the main REPEATVerse; - or as its own standalone AU/spinoff (i.e. this can be read on its own) Characters/Groups: Taichi & Koushiro; Koushiro Izumi & Tentomon; Koushiro Izumi & Mimi Tachikawa; Koushiro & Izumis Ship{s}: KouTai {Koushiro x Taichi} focus Summary:
– To be honest,
Taichi and Koushiro don’t need words.
( They have a lot more than Just )
( words )
Title: Hands Rating: r-18 Implied (Fade-to-Black) Notes: nothing major is shown but they are sharing a bed; - it can be read as a standalone fic - it can be read as an AU and/or spinoff of the main REPEATVerse; - remember when Taichi implied Yamato was “sharing a room” with “Sora”? (see near end of Pt 5 of the fic) ( this may be that instance, or it may be something completely different; it can be post-fic or anything applicable! ) [ it does fit in nicely with that implied instance, though ] Character{s}: Yamato, Sora, Mimi Ship{s}: Yamato x Sora x Mimi {YamaSoMi} as equal-on-all-sides Poly-ship (Yamato has lesser of attraction to women / anyone aside from Sora & Mimi) Summary:

Not quite...) Notes: bit of angst-y introspection over-the-years style but otherwise a good end Summary:

Thinking about Digimon Fic Ideas
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It is somewhat annoying right now, because I also have so many Castlevania and BG3 plotbunnies, that my brain (mostly thanks to translating some of my older Digimon stuff) was like: "You know what? We haven't hyperfixated on Digimon for a long while, right?" And made me hyperfocus on that once more. lol
And now I am thinking of writing a few new stories for the fandom, because I have not in a while. And while it seems in terms of Ao3 the fandom is fairly dead... I mean, I do enjoy writing for the fandom, and what else am I going to do with my encyclopedic knowledge of this fandom anyway?
Right now, among a variety of ideas for One Shots, my main ideas are the following right now. And I guess I am going to put them here, just so that I have put them somewhere. Because I dunno when I get around to writing them.
Based on this blog, I wrote like two weeks ago... I remembered that I once had started a story on this, but never finished it. Basically a Multichapter-Story (probably 5+1) of Takeru and Hikari being drawn to each other, but finding out that their relationship does not quite work, because they to comfortably fit into the slot where their respective brothers usually were in their lives. (Originally this was mostly based on my feeling that they would totally date, but it would not work out - but from today's perspective I would argue it explicitly would not work because they both have a big brother complex.)
Something I ironically never did, even though I have had this idea in my had: Daisuke in my stuff needs the longest time to come around to being queer. In regards to Adventure/02 I ship three queer ships: Taichi/Koushirou, Miyako/Mimi, and Daisuke/Ken. However, I never much went into how Daisuke and Ken get together. And I know that Daisuke is the character here most struggling with CompHet. And a part of me really wants to explore that some more.
Four Stories around the four main Digimon Tamers (meaning Takato, Jianliang (which will include Shaochung), Ruki and Ryou) exploring respectively some of their cultural heritage. Meaning Ryukyuan for Takato, Hongkong for Jianliang, something relatively European for Ruki, and something connected to Kyushu for Ryou. I have some general ideas for this, though I do need to make some more plans.
And also a very self-indulgent story based around Megumi and Keith from Digimon Tamers. And I absolutely know that I am personally the only person who cares about them, and very much the only person who ships them. But I don't fucking care. I love them, okay? (Please ignore that adult Keith might as well be an OC, given that Keith only shows up in the Prequel shortstory when he is 10-12 years old.)
I don't know when I will get around to writing that. The one with the cultural heritage speaks to me the most right now, because it is this kinda hyperspecific stuff that interests me. But... Well, we'll see. My main issue so far is, that... The lack of certain types of Digimon and the realization that I kinda would need to come up with original Digimon for some of it. >.<
At least I put this here now. lol
